Everything arrived tidy and in good condition.

My son is taking it to school and we're very happy with it. We get plenty of rain and wind here in Valdivia, so I hope it will last him well. The opening button is quite lively at first, but it works properly and folds the canopy well too. Shortening the stem afterwards is by hand and needs some pressure. Everything arrived tidy and in good condition.

My old umbrella was finally wearing out after about twenty years, so I needed a replacement. This works nicely and packs down shorter than the golf umbrella I was used to.. Best of all, it fits my tear shaped carry bag without a struggle, which makes taking it along easier.

I'd happily recommend it to people I know!

After heat exhaustion while working along the southern border, and more trouble after my transfer to Florida, I have to be very careful about sunshine. About ten minutes outside is usually my limit. I wanted something I could carry between the car and a shop without being directly in the sun the whole way. This umbrella gives me shade for those little journeys and makes them much more comfortable. It isn't a substitute for keeping my time outside short, but it is useful. Friends have asked to borrow it for outdoor events or trips to the park with their children and grandchildren. I can understand why, it is much nicer having some shade over you than none at all. It folds small enough for my purse, while my bigger umbrella stays in the car. For the way I use it, this has been a very worthwhile purchase. I'd happily recommend it to people I know!

The button is straightforward and opens it quickly.

A few days of rain made me realise I really needed an umbrella at school. I wanted something I could keep in the classroom without it getting in everybody's way, and this folds down to a useful size. There's enough cover for me when I'm outside with the children, and it isn't a huge thing to store afterwards. The button is straightforward and opens it quickly. Pressing it again brings the canopy in, then I push the pole down to pack it away.I can keep one at work, another in the car and one at home without spending a fortune. It feels like a sensible buy and I'm looking forward to putting it to use!

It has coped well when the wind picks up too.

I've had two of these over the past year, after leaving the first behind on a very wet trip. Both have kept me dry on the commute between Jersey City and Manhattan, including some properly unpleasant rain. It has coped well when the wind picks up too. Two things I'd change: the loop handle is a little cramped for my hand, and folded up it takes more space in my bag than I expected. Neither has stopped me using it, but worth knowing if you want something tiny.

Rain would start and one press had it up.....

A couple of years back I bought this umbrella and got on well with it. Rain would start and one press had it up.....the button folding the canopy afterwards was handy too. It felt well put together and kept its shape on windy days in the city. Then, of course, it went the way of so many compact umbrellas.....I lost it. After putting up with cheap ones that barely opened and didn't do much against rain, I finally thought.....why am I not buying that one AGAIN?So here we are.....another of the same. It seems just as solid as the one I lost, although the release button needs a slightly harder push on this one. I looked through the product information again.....but really my previous use was what made the decision. Didn't need a whole new kind of umbrella, just the one that had worked for me. Early days, but I'm pleased enough so far....now to avoid leaving this one behind.

It makes quite a difference having some shade over me in hot weather.

It makes quite a difference having some shade over me in hot weather. I still feel the heat, but not having the sun directly on my head is noticeably more comfortable. Carrying an umbrella everywhere is the less convenient part. Even folded, it takes up room, so I would be more likely to bring it when I know I will be outside for a while rather than for every errand. It seems well put together. The button opens it and brings the canopy back in, then you shorten the shaft by hand. I hadn't used it in much wind when I first wrote this, so couldn't say much about that.UPDATE: Have now been out with it on a windy day and the frame held its shape well. One thing worth mentioning though, a canopy that holds firm still catches the wind and you feel that pull through your hand. The handle is a closed oval loop rather than a hook, and I keep a proper grip around it. I wouldn't hold it loosely just because the frame feels sturdy.

they still think an umbrella doubles as a sword.

Thoughtfully put together; the loop handle is handy, the button action is positive, and I appreciate having a sleeve for putting it away! Ours gets plenty of handling from the kids...they still think an umbrella doubles as a sword. I keep reminding them it is for rain, but so far it has stood up to family life!

This is my third decent umbrella.

This is my third decent umbrella. One stays at work and a larger one lives in the car. This one stands with a few others in a planter by the back door, ready for a wet morning or walking the dog. Having it within reach makes a difference. A decent umbrella is worth a little extra to me; I don't want to be out in a shower wishing I'd brought something more substantial. This has a reassuring feel, gives me room underneath, and doesn't take over the whole pavement. It's a size I actually take along instead of leaving behind because it's awkward. You can spend less, of course, but getting through the walk dry and without fuss is the point. I also check I've got it before leaving a restaurant. BUT that's easier when you have something you value, rather than something you don't particularly care about. This one has earned its place by the door.

Happy with the decision, and a couple more might make good gifts.

I'd had enough of buying flimsy umbrellas and then paying to replace them. Decided to look around properly this time and spend a little more on something decent. Well, I'm glad I did! This feels really well made. There's a satisfying swish when it goes up, and it feels secure in my hand without being a pain to carry. Looks good as well. Happy with the decision, and a couple more might make good gifts.

Jillian Turner

We carried them open during the parade and they looked lovely.

These were prizes for the hat contest at our garden club's spring tea. We carried them open during the parade and they looked lovely. The winners were delighted, and a few other members wanted to know where we'd found them. Reasonably priced too, and they reached us quickly. A very successful choice.

Even putting it away is no bother.

After reading a few of the unhappy reviews I wanted to add my own experience, because mine has been very different. I've gone through plenty of umbrellas and this is the one I actually missed when I lost it. Lost, not worn out or broken, which is why I'm getting the same one again. It gives me decent cover, the button action is straightforward, and the loop is comfortable in my hand. Even putting it away is no bother. It has handled the breezy rainy days I've used it for and doesn't become an awkward long parcel when I put it away. It looks smart too. I can't explain why other people haven't liked theirs, and I'm not pretending I can. All I can say is that I was satisfied enough to come back for another.

Evan Beltran

So far I have been really impressed with it.

Sun is the main reason I carry this, I burn so easily. My expectations weren't very high, but it has been a lovely surprise. It gives me a comfortable patch of shade and hasn't felt flimsy in a breeze. The fabric and stitching still look tidy, and it packs away just as neatly after use. So far I have been really impressed with it. Love using it!

Darren Rasmussen

perhaps i'll get quicker with a few more uses.

i decided to try this umbrella because the design looked useful for my walk to school. i've only taken it out a few times so far but overall i am happy with it. the cover is a decent size when its open and keeps my shoulders dry without much fuss. im a commuting student so having something that folds smaller makes a difference when i have a backpack to carry as well. it doesnt shelter the whole bag behind me, but for something this size i wasnt really expecting that. another thing i appreciate is being able to open it with one hand. with groceries in the other hand its easier than trying to balance everything while getting an umbrella up. i feel reasonably in control of it on the windier parts of my walk, although i've not had it out in anything very rough. the stem feels solid when holding it and once the rain stops its a manageable thing to carry. the bit im less keen on is packing it away in a hurry. the button brings the canopy down but you still need to push the stem shorter yourself, then get the wet folds arranged. thats normal enough, just takes me longer than opening it does. going into a building or getting onto a bus i usually end up with damp fingers before i've wrapped it neatly. perhaps i'll get quicker with a few more uses. i would recommend it for everyday rain and carrying between classes, with that small reservation about putting it away. it has been useful without being too much extra to take along.

Suzanne Poole

I wanted another to keep handy.

This isn't the first one I've used, so I had some idea of the quailty; I wanted another to keep handy. The folded size is useful without feeling too flimsy. Getting caught in rain is bad enough without having the canopy flip over on you! Mine has stayed the right way round whenever I've used it. A couple have gone to friends as presents as well, and they've been delighted!

For the money I'm really pleased with this umbrella.

For the money I'm really pleased with this umbrella. The opening is quick and the canopy pulls closed with another press, which saves a lot of fiddling. It feels more substantial than the bargain umbrellas I've used and hasn't turned inside out or folded up on me in windy weather. Only drawback is the length when it's packed away. My purse is what I'd describe as medium sized and getting it in there is a squeeze, but I can't expect a decent canopy to disappear completely!

Katrina Fields

Overall a very worthwhile umbrella.

Over a year of use now, and I'm still happy I picked this one. We get rain with a breeze behind it quite often, and the tiny umbrellas I've used leave most of me wet. This gives me a much more useful area of cover without being a long umbrella to lug around when the weather clears. I've taken it on plenty of wet walks and the frame still feels solid. You do need to hold it properly when the wind catches the canopy; being sturdier doesn't mean it stops pulling at your hand. I wouldn't take that as a reason to push it into really rough weather, either. For normal rainy days it's been excellent. The one fiddly part for me is getting all the folds lying neatly before putting the sleeve on. If I rush it, the whole thing is bulkier than it needs to be. Taking a moment to straighten the fabric sorts that out, and it isn't something that affects using it in the rain. Overall a very worthwhile umbrella.

Anyway, as an actual umbrella it's quite good.

The umbrella reminded me of meeting the mother of my children, which would take far too long to explain. She has since died and these days I'm seeing an old girlfriend again, so there's that. Anyway, as an actual umbrella it's quite good. I'm not terribly keen on the feel of the handle, but it has been sturdy in wet, windy weather. Seems to get people talking too, which I hadn't really counted on.

We used ten of these in a stage production, five performances a week over a six week run. They were opened, closed and carried through the routines each night, so the button action had plenty of use. All kept working smoothly, which was the main thing I needed from them. They haven't actually been out in rain, so I can only speak for how they behaved on stage, not how dry they keep you.

Gina Galvan

Seems quite sturdy too.

People have commented on this whenever I've had it out.It works as well as an ordinary compact umbrella, but I find the beige a much nicer look. Seems quite sturdy too. The button opens it and collapses the canopy; I push it down afterwards to put it away. That's no bother. It comes with a sleeve as well.Just be ready to say where you found it, because somebody is bound to ask!

Kaylee Gomez

Thank you to all who made it, good business to you.

For this price a very good umbrella, I was looking for rain and it has enough room above me. Someone said closing was difficult, for me the button brings the canopy down easily, then I press the stem in by hand. A little heavy, but feels serious, not an empty thing. I sit in a fairly big wheelchair and I am tall, so the cover for myself is what matters, not expecting to cover the whole chair. I recommend 💯. Thank you to all who made it, good business to you.

Patrick Cooke

LOVE the blue umbrella.

LOVE the blue umbrella. Looks so pretty and feels well made, with that oval loop handle. Definitely recommend.Update to my earlier review: I still love mine, but wanted to be clearer about which umbrella I am describing. Mine is the folding blue one with black underneath and a closed oval handle. It isn't a long umbrella with a curved cane handle. Sometimes a small product picture doesn't make the shape very obvious and I don't want anyone reading this to get the wrong idea from what I wrote. The loop is quite a distinctive part of the one I have. It is the compact button operated umbrella I'm reviewing and enjoying, same as when I first posted. So please read my comments with that in mind, not as comments about a decorative frilly parasol or some completely different style. Still pleased with my blue one :)

Solid umbrella, doesn't prevent you losing it though.

Enough cover for myself and a friend. Solid umbrella, doesn't prevent you losing it though. Had it about a year, with two trips to Hawaii. Used it at the beach and out in the ocean. Guess it preferred staying there. Put it down in an airport shop and only remembered after boarding the plane. Couldn't go back. I'll be buying a replacement.

Folded length is about 40 cm -- compact, though not tiny.

Folded length is about 40 cm -- compact, though not tiny. It's fairly chunky too, so allow some space if you plan to keep it in a handbag. Compact rather than miniature... I carry it with my photography gear and use it while out in the South Florida preserves. Shade matters a lot there in summer, and this gives me a welcome break from having the sun directly on me. It has also stood up to the odd brush against vegetation along the way. A useful umbrella for being outside, without needing to carry a full length one.

Mathew Hurst

I LOVE taking this umbrella out!

I LOVE taking this umbrella out! I chose the gray and it has a neat, understated look rather than being fussy. It feels much better made than I expected for the money. A push of the button gets it ready quickly, and it's stayed the right way round in the wind I've encountered. Once folded it goes in my bag without any fuss. I honestly thought I might be disappointed at this price, but it has been a really good buy. Would happily recommend it.

Gavin Sullivan

Does what I expected it to do.

Does what I expected it to do. Press the button and it opens, press again and the canopy folds away just as ealily, handy for getting into the car. In a heavy southern downpour though, spray can still get around the sides. OK over a short walk, but when the rain really comes down you're not going to stay completely dry.

Christie Rasmussen

The canopy shape is what sold me on it.

The canopy shape is what sold me on it. I'm using it above a carousel themed sweets table at a reception. The beige fabric is pretty, and painting alternating panels gave it the big top look I wanted. The paint went on nicely. A good choice if you want an umbrella for a decorative project.

Gabriella Moreno

Very happy with both of them.

Our first umbrella went down so well with the family that we ordered a second!Even during heavy rain there's decent room beneath it without needing a giant umbrella. It folds down neatly for storage. The button pulls the canopy shut, which is handy with one hand occupied; you still push the stem down yourself. Very happy with both of them.

Christina Vasquez

This seemed worth trying.

After enough little umbrellas turning inside out on me, I wanted one that felt sturdier without carrying a full length one everywhere. This seemed worth trying. If you walk between tall buildings in NYC you know how suddenly the wind hits you. Mine has coped well on those streets while I've seen others struggling with their umbrellas.Surprising how much room there is once it's open, considering the folded size. One press opens it, another closes the canopy, then you push the telescoping part in yourself. That took no time to get used to. Fits in a child's backpack and isn't a burden to carry. I can see getting more so the rest of the family have one too.

Roger Dyer

Everything looks satisfactory to me.

I've put this umbrella in the car for those times when I get caught out by rain. The cream white looks very nice and it seems a sensible size to have handy. Haven't actually needed to put it up outdoors yet, but I think it will be very useful once the rainy season gets going next month. Everything looks satisfactory to me.I would suggest it to someone who wants an umbrella they can keep ready in the car

Becky Jacobs

A useful umbrella with a cheerful blue colour and a nice solid feel.

A useful umbrella with a cheerful blue colour and a nice solid feel. My little grandson was so disappointed when his old one broke. This replacement cheered him right up, particularly the loop handle. It looks practical but still has some personality, which he likes. Reasonably priced too.

Marvin Maldonado

For shade it seems useful, but I am being careful with that word.

For shade it seems useful, but I am being careful with that word. A black canopy by itself doesn't tell me anything definite about UV protection, and I can't judge a rating just from standing underneath it. That was my main reason for looking for this type of umbrella, so I've stopped at four stars. For ordinary use, though, the size is convenient and the grip suits me. Having a sleeve included also makes it easier to pack along when it isn't needed.

Elaine Patel

It feels balanced, which makes carrying it easy.

It has kept the sun off me better than I thought it would. I wish the canopy was a little wider, but the size was given and I should have looked properly. I don't expect it to take years of rough treatment, though it doesn't feel cheap either. Had it out on a windy beach a few times and it didn't try to flip over or tug hard at me. It feels balanced, which makes carrying it easy. The beige matches the picture. I'm not good with sunlight so I was very grateful I'd taken it. I wondered if carrying an umbrella for sun would look terribly old fashioned, but other women actually seemed quite pleased and curious about it.

Antonio Neal

I bought this as well a golf umbrella to use day to day.

I bought this as well a golf umbrella to use day to day. A decent product overall, particularly the automatic opening and its storage sleeve. I was expecting a little disc at the base for gathering the folded ribs, would have preferred that in the design. Only a minor drawback

Bryan Meza

It feels solid when I'm holding it, not like it's about to give up.

A little bigger folded than the tiny umbrellas you can slip into a handbag, but I reckon the extra coverage is worth the space. Wind is a regular nuisance where I live and I've gone through enough umbrellas because of it. BUT this one has been with me for two years and still works just fine. It feels solid when I'm holding it, not like it's about to give up. Mine stays in the bottle section on the side of my backpack so I'm not caught without it. Very glad I have it.

Lisa Valentine

Handy little escape from the sunshine.

Handy little escape from the sunshine. Arizona is home, so we're usually looking for shade rather than rain cover. We can squeeze underneath for our walk to work together ^_^ It feels solid, the button is easy to use and the shade is lovely. Haven't had the chance to find out how it handles rain yet =D

Pedro Adkins

This has worked out really well!

I work in the city and the walk from where I park to my building is about five minutes. My big umbrella is fine when I know it's going to rain, but I wanted something I could keep with me for those showers that weren't really expected. This has worked out really well! Folded up it's a manageable size, then you press the button and it becomes a proper umbrella rather than one of those tiny things that barely covers your head. I have enough room underneath, and can share it with someone if we keep close together. The only thing I've noticed is that the open canopy does catch the wind. Nothing has given me reason to think it's falling apart, but you feel the breeze pulling at your hand and have to pay attention. That's the trade off with having a decent area overhead, I suppose. For the short walks I needed it for I'm really pleased, and I'd happily buy the same one again!

Mackenzie Sharp

My reservation is largely cosmetic.

After nearly two years of regular use, I think this umbrella has been a worthwhile purchase. The canopy gives comfortable coverage for one person, and the flexible ribs have coped well with the breezy weather I have used it in. There is a reassuring feel to the frame and shaft, rather than that loose feeling some folding umbrellas have. My reservation is largely cosmetic. The handle has picked up visible surface marks, even though I do not consider myself particularly rough with my belongings. It remains comfortable to hold and the loop shape is useful, but the finish no longer looks as tidy as the rest of the umbrella. The tip also shows a little wear from ordinary use. For someone who wants their umbrella to continue looking new, that may be worth considering. I cannot say that it has affected the actual performance, and opening it is still straightforward. I would rather have a dependable umbrella with a few marks than one that only looks good. Four stars seems appropriate: a sound, useful item, with the appearance of the handle being the main qualification.

Jocelyn Marquez

An Xmas present for my boyfriend, and he was very pleased with it.

An Xmas present for my boyfriend, and he was very pleased with it. He said the size was just right. I appreciate the sleeve and the oval loop handle, which is handy for carrying it. We don't get much rain where we live, so I expect it will be with us for quite a while.

Jaime Carrillo

Always got comments when I used it.

I kept admiring pretty umbrellas and finally decided to have one for myself. This cream white one looks so lovely opened up, and the canopy gives me enough cover to stay dry without feeling huge to carry. Always got comments when I used it. Sadly somebody stole it before I'd even had it a month. :( I'll be getting another when spring comes around!

Carrie Mclean

Is it the MOST solid umbrella I've ever carried?

I'm glad I chose this one. I wanted a nice gray umbrella that would be more than a one-shower purchase--this seems to fit that. Is it the MOST solid umbrella I've ever carried? No, but it doesn't feel flimsy to me either. The gray is just the shade I was after--nothing odd about it. My only small gripe is getting the folded fabric tidy before putting the sleeve on. Would I pick the same one again? I certainly would.

Madeline Lewis

So far this seems to be just the umbrella I wanted.

So far this seems to be just the umbrella I wanted. It feels sturdy - something I notice because I've kept an older umbrella going for years - and the finish is very nice. The pink outside and black underneath are a pleasing combination, without needing anything fussy on it.The sleeve is useful for storing it. A press opens it, another gathers the canopy, and I haven't found it difficult to compress the shaft afterwards. I hesitated over paying this much for an umbrella, but had already talked myself out of buying it once and regretted that. Having it in hand now, I feel it was worth spending the money.

Mercedes Frye

I haven't had much rain to test it in yet.

It took a while to reach me. The material looks decent and the finishing is satisfactory. I haven't had much rain to test it in yet. For everyday carrying, the size seems good. It matches what I expected from the description. I am satisfied with the purchase and can recommend it.

Jackie Heath

Finally got my son his own umbrella after all his asking.

Finally got my son his own umbrella after all his asking. He was so excited to see it! Feels well made and there's a good amount of cover for him. He needs some help pushing the pole in once the button has shut the canopy, but otherwise he's managing it well. I'd recommend it.

Jacob Hopkins

My wife gets through small umbrellas at quite a rate.

For travel, this has what I need:* Looks smart* Light and easy to pack* Durable* Feels well built* Keeps rain off.My wife gets through small umbrellas at quite a rate. This one's made it six months already, and I expect three or four years from it. That would be a record around here. No real faults I can point to, and the price seems very fair.I hadn't come across the name before this purchase, but it's one I'll remember. I'd recommend it.

Herbert Allen

New York means lots of walking for me.

New York means lots of walking for me. (Nobody could persuade me to drive around Manhattan.) Getting between the subway, museums and book stores is much nicer when I'm not arriving soaked! The beige umbrella gives me a useful amount of cover and feels sturdy in my hand. It's also manageable to carry between stops, which matters when I'm out for hours. A word of advice, give it a chance to dry before it goes back in its sleeve. That's just sensible with an umbrella, especially if you won't be opening it again until tomorrow.Once dry, it packs away neatly for the next walk. For someone who spends this much time on foot, a GOOD umbrella is worth having, and I'm very happy with this one.

Jake Yates

Very happy with this purchase!

i normally prefer big golf umbrellas, but my old one needed replacing after about ten years and i went with this. it's been a good choice- decent cover and not so much to carry. The push button took me a moment to get used to, but no bother. The fabric feels tough and has stayed looking good. Very happy with this purchase!

Hayley Ayers

Better than I expected for the money.

Better than I expected for the money. I had pictured something a lot cheaper looking, but the umbrella itself is quite decent. I bought mine about a month ago and the price seems to have crept up since then. The grip is comfortable and the fabric seems good enough for everyday rain. Pressing the button to pop it up is handy. There is a sleeve to put it away in. That feels more basic than the umbrella, but it holds everything together and looks a bit like a tiny ninja sword when it's all packed up. Nothing fancy about that part, just useful. Overall I think I spent my money well and I'm satisfied with it.

Bill Andrews

Of course the first rain of the year came with a lot of wind.

Of course the first rain of the year came with a lot of wind. It flipped the canopy inside out, which I can't say shocked me. The ribs flexed rather than leaving me with bent metal, and it was back in use shortly afterwards. That's the part I was most pleased about. I also appreciate the loop handle, handy to hang onto when everything is wet. The sleeve takes a bit of careful folding, getting all the fabric... pleats... whatever they are lined up first. Otherwise I end up trying to stuff it in any old way (because, honestly, who hasn't done that)

Whitney Massey

So far everything has held up well.

The size has worked nicely for my daughter, enough cover for her without feeling like she is trying to steer a huge umbrella! The oval loop handle gives her something easy to hold, and she likes being able to hang it on her bedroom peg after it has dried. Apparently umbrellas count as room decorations now! The blue is cheerful without needing a pattern, and the black underneath gives it a neat finished look.We have used it for actual rainy walks as well as the inevitable opening it indoors just because she wants to look at it again. So far everything has held up well. She can press the button to open it and to bring the canopy down, although I help her shorten the shaft afterwards. That last bit needs a hand rather than another press of the button. For us it has been a practical umbrella that she also enjoys using, which makes getting out in wet weather a little easier.
