looks really nice.

looks really nice. Has some weight . Feels well put together. The button is quick for opening and bringing the canopy down. You push the shaft in by hand after that. Goes back in the outer sleeve once its wrapped up neatly.Nice oval handle, I like having something to get hold of instead of a little straight bit that always feels like it will slip out my hand. Should get plenty of use.

A very useful umbrella.

A very useful umbrella. Folded up it takes little room in my bag, yet there's enough cover once it's open to keep me dry. The frame feels sturdy and hasn't folded over at the first bit of wind. Using the button is straightforward, both to open it and draw the canopy shut. This a good choice for men wanting something plain rather than fussy. Mine arrived ahead of schedule despite the Christmas rush, and I'd have no hesitation buying another.

As an umbrella, it looks nice.

As an umbrella, it looks nice. I expected a little more size from the pictures, although opened up it seems quite enough for me. The way it opens and the general feel are good, but I can't judge how long it will last yet as I haven't had it out in rain. The canopy has an unusual feel, not sure how to describe the material. For what I paid I'm satisfied. Autumn is here, so there should be a chance to try it properly soon.

Penny Heath

Only been out with it a handful of times.

Feels more solidly put together than my previous umbrellas, so I don't begrudge paying a bit more. Only been out with it a handful of times. The button action is smooth and there's a comfortable amount of room underneath without carrying a full length umbrella.

Cameron Vargas

Shortening it afterwards is straightforward too.

No rain since it turned up a few days ago (southern California doing its usual thing), so I haven't had a proper wet outing yet. My old automatic umbrella finally gave up and I thought the folding ones already here would do. Apparently not--I've become far too used to a button! This beige one looks lovely, and the canopy responds smoothly both ways. Shortening it afterwards is straightforward too. Now I just need the weather to cooperate so I can show it off!

Audrey Sanders

Would recommend.

Does its job. Feels properly put together. Smart looking too. There is some weight to it, but I'd rather that than something flimsy. We shared it in gusty rain and stayed surprisingly well covered standing close together. I can live with the extra heft for that. Would recommend.

Katelyn Walker

A bit of elegance in dull weather!

A bit of elegance in dull weather! The beige is understated rather than bright, which is just my taste. Wet days are a little less miserable when the umbrella looks good and actually covers you properly. Pretty without forgetting what it is supposed to do. That's plenty for me!Pros: Pleasant colour; Good coverage; Opens at a touchCons: Button folds the canopy, but pushing the pole down afterwards takes a bit of effort

For sitting with them in ordinary sunshine, I'm happy with it.

Using this to give the kids a bit of shade while they're at the sand table in our backyard. It is light enough for me to hold beside them and opens without a fuss. Can't say much about windy days yet. For sitting with them in ordinary sunshine, I'm happy with it.

My first impression was that this was an umbrella worth keeping.

My first impression was that this was an umbrella worth keeping. The fabric seems substantial and the frame looks much more carefully put together than some I have owned. All those ribs give the canopy a nicely supported shape, which was reassuring when I first opened it. The supplied sleeve is handy for keeping it tucked away among the other things in my bag. I was thinking I could settle on this one and stop looking for another umbrella for quite a while. However...once I had it open and walked about with it, the balance was not so good for my weak wrist. It seems to carry its weight quite high above my hand. Someone without that problem might barely notice, but I found myself wanting to steady it with my other hand. If your wrists are weak it is worth considering how comfortable it will be to hold, not just how sturdy it looks. I was using two hands at times just walking about indoors! A little more space to get a comfortable grip on the loop handle might make a real difference. For me the construction is the good part and carrying it is the compromise. If the grip suited my hand better I would certainly consider it again, because I was genuinely impressed with the canopy!

This fits without much fuss.

Space in my bag is limited, so I wanted an umbrella that folds down neatly. This fits without much fuss. It's not the lightest thing in there, but the coverage makes that a fair trade. For the everyday showers we get in Seattle, I've been quite content with it. Not looking to test it in anything wild...:))

Pretty good umbrella.

Pretty good umbrella. I'm happy with what I paid and it turned up quickly. The little sleeve probably won't see much action, i don't really have patience for packing it back in there - lol We don't see much rain here in the desert so it'll only come out now and then. Still, it's staying in my car so i won't be caught without it. Really like the black!

Craig Houston

Definitely worth recommending!

A plain, classic umbrella is what I like, and this one seems properly put together. Too many I've had felt cheap before I'd even used them much. The loop handle is comfortable and the whole thing has a solid feel, especially for the money. If I lost this one I'd happily get the same again. Packaging was bigger than it needed to be & that seemed wasteful, but I've no complaints about the umbrella itself. Definitely worth recommending!

Eric Peck

Worth what I paid.

After trying several umbrellas, this one's the keeper. It's done well on windy NYC streets and during golf in Texas! Worth what I paid. It folds down, although it isn't the smallest thing in my bag. But saving space isn't everything if the canopy ONLY covers your hair!

Living in the Pacific Northwest means an umbrella gets plenty of use here... After going through so many over the years I appreciate how solid this one feels, especially the frame. There is decent space underneath without carrying some enormous thing along the trail. When I'm hiking I want gear I can just use and not fuss over - and this has earned its place with the things I take.

Garrett Valentine

It arrived promptly and looked good straight from the package.

The umbrella feels well put together, the black fabric looks neat, and the ribs have a reassuring feel, I expect it will be useful in rain (and for shade too). It arrived promptly and looked good straight from the package. I would recommend it without any hesitation.

Easily my favorite umbrella so far.

Cheap umbrellas used to be something I was constantly replacing. A handful of outings and they'd be finished, and paying more didn't always seem to help. This one has been with me for 3 YEARS now and gets used practically every day. It feels properly made rather than like something I have to baby. The automatic opening still works, and the canopy comes down with the button just as it did at the start. It has stayed in good shape through wet and breezy days instead of ending up bent and useless. I came back to get another because I know how useful this one has been. Easily my favorite umbrella so far.

Our girls each have one of these for school now, and the size suits them well. They get decent coverage without a huge umbrella to carry, and the button makes opening it easy. The part i am not so keen on is getting everything tucked away afterwards. The folds need a bit of arranging before it will slide neatly into the sleeve, so packing up is more fiddly than I would like. Still glad we got them, but that little extra bit of messing about stops me being completely enthusiastic.

Pam Rasmussen

Some of them made me hesitate.

This is my second one, and I spent more time than usual reading the reviews before buying it. Some of them made me hesitate. I was also unsure about the gray outside and black underneath, since I wanted something I could use for shade as well as rain. In the end I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I went ahead! It makes a comfortable patch of shade without needing a huge canopy to carry around. The construction feels really good, and the frame has handled the everyday wind I've met without any fuss. I've had umbrellas before that felt flimsy almost immediately, so the solid feel here is reassuring. Happy with my choice and happy to have one I actually want to bring along.

Mindy Compton

The button operation is handy too.

A little bigger folded than my usual compact umbrella. I haven't put it through really windy weather, but for normal rain it's been good. The ribs look more substantial than the ones on my previous umbrellas. The button operation is handy too.My only niggle is getting all the fabric folded neatly after use. It takes some arranging before the bundle is as tidy as I'd like. Nothing wrong with it once I've done that, but when I'm trying to get it packed away in a hurry, that part takes a little patience.

Eduardo Booth

Ive used mine for nearly a year.

Ive used mine for nearly a year. Just a straightforward folding umbrella, the sort you actually take along rather than leave at home. Dont lean on it like a walking stick, it wasnt made for that. It springs open fast and smoothly. It isnt terribly windy where I live, though its coped fine with a few gustier days.

Rose Cain

Using this for painting outdoors.

Using this for painting outdoors. It gives me the shade I wanted, though I still need some way of fixing it to my chair or tripod. My husband reckons he can sort that part out. The beige outside looks nice and the black underneath should be less distracting when I'm judging colours (at least that's the hope.) Feels solid enough and didn't cost a fortune.

Joyce Harrington

Not too heavy to carry and handy when there's no shade to sit in.

It has become a regular thing to put in my purse for a day out. Not too heavy to carry and handy when there's no shade to sit in.It looks nice too. Only thing that takes a little effort is packing it away-the button folds the canopy but pushing the shaft back needs both hands for me. Small grumble really, as I'm delighted with it. I can see it coming along on most of my summer outings.

Daniel Mckinney

It comes out quite often and people still say how cute it is.

My girl has had hers since she was nearly seven, and it's still looking surprisingly good. It comes out quite often and people still say how cute it is. Whether she'll feel the same about carrying it around her friends as she gets older, I don't know. For now it's been a very welcome umbrella and has stood up to her use well.

Barbara Sellers

It does the everyday job nicely.

Back in college I had an umbrella that kept both me and my books reasonably dry, and that's the sort of coverage I was looking for again. Replaced my old one with this after looking around online. It does the everyday job nicely. We haven't had much gusty rain since it arrived, so I can't say a great deal about that yet. Hoping it does as well through the fall weather in Seattle.

Sherri Wallace

Absolutely loves it!

Our three year old has got very keen on umbrellas, so this was a little surprise for him. Absolutely loves it! Now he asks to bring it to preschool even on dry mornings (apparently rain can happen whenever). He likes pressing the button and I help pack it away. Quite the favourite here ;-)

Robert Valenzuela

I've missed having an umbrella I liked this much.

I've missed having an umbrella I liked this much. There was one about 25 years ago that I kept wishing I could replace. The canopy isn't see through, so you do need to mind where the edge sits, but my hair and glasses stay much drier. The plain style suits me.

Breanna Fuller

I got one each for my 4 and 6 year olds.

I got one each for my 4 and 6 year olds. They are so taken with them, they keep wanting to bring them out even when it's dry. I do the button for the younger one (she gets rather excited about that bit. Both umbrellas seem put together well and with a little looking after should last them.

Becky Santos

A friend of mine uses this one and is very happy with it.

Not sure what makes the opening difficult for some people. A friend of mine uses this one and is very happy with it. Once she showed me where the button was, it seemed quite straightforward. Getting the fabric tidy again needs a bit of care, but the pink looks lovely. I usually go for quieter colours myself, though it suits her and people have said nice things about it.

Mandy Moreno

The quality was a nice surprise when it arrived.

The quality was a nice surprise when it arrived. Folded up, it fits in my six year old sons backpack, which was what I needed. He loves having his own umbrella and finds the button easy to use. It gives him lots of cover on rainy days. Its been a really good purchase for us.

Daniel Collins

Arrived in good shape and matched what I expected.

Arrived in good shape and matched what I expected. The slip on sleeve is useful, and the folded umbrella fits in my car door compartment. Feels dependable so far. I can't tell you what it would do in a serious storm because that isn't the weather I've used it in. For normal rain and a bit of wind, it's been fine. Also, your feet can still get wet. An umbrella covers what's under it, not every splash coming off the road. When my spare wears out, I'd be quite happy to get another of these.

Christine Krueger

Good coverage without taking up my whole back pack.

Good coverage without taking up my whole back pack. Comes with a sleeve, which is useful. Wanted a button operated canopy & that's been really easy to use. Haven't tried it in serious wind so can't say much on that yet. For ordinary wet days I'm pleased and would recommend it.Update: Used it on a walk in light rain and a breeze picked up. It was fine, although I'd still be cautious about taking it out in anything much stronger.

Breanna Leon

Happy with my umbrella overall.

Happy with my umbrella overall. I do have to be careful where my hand sits when I'm carrying it closed. The button is easy to catch if I'm not paying attention, so I usualy slip it into the cover (the one it comes with) and put it in my bag instead of carrying it loose in my hand. That suits me better anyway. I've had it around four months and used it maybe twenty times now, and so far it hasn't flipped over in the wind.

Sara Weeks

Working in the windy city has made me fairly picky about umbrellas.

Working in the windy city has made me fairly picky about umbrellas. This one feels more substantial than the ones I've used before, without being a huge thing to carry. The appearance caught my eye, but the frame is what has impressed me so far. The flexible ribs seem to take ordinary gusts in stride. I'm also glad it has the opening button, because having to fiddle with a catch outside work is not my idea of fun.

Earl Pollard

These come along for the walk home from school each afternoon.

These come along for the walk home from school each afternoon. We don't get a bus in our neighborhood, and I'd rather walk than spend 45 minutes sitting in the pickup line. The shade makes the walk so much nicer when the sun is beating down. My six year old LOVES carrying an umbrella like a fancy parasol, even without a drop of rain. It's been so dry here lately that I can't say how these do in wet weather yet.

Jimmy Andrews

This has being money well spent.

With all the walking I do in the city, I was tired of buying umbrellas that felt disposable, so I spent some time looking into a better one. This has being money well spent. It gives enough cover to keep my hair dry and has coped well with windy corners. People have even asked where I got it. Smart looking and a reasonable price too.

Gabriel Knox

She's had lots of compliments.

I bought it for my daughter, who's in her first year at a women's college in Virginia. She is so taken with it that she nearly welcomes rain for the chance to show it off. She's had lots of compliments. The size is a big plus for her--she and a friend can share the cover. She hasn't had any really windy weather with it, so I can't comment on that side of things. Overall I'm pleased with what I paid, and even more pleased that she likes her gift so much.

Tamara Garcia

Coverage is good for me on my own

Easy to take along, though I wouldn't call it one of those tiny umbrellas that disappears in a handbag. It fits in my larger purse without taking over the whole thing, which is what I wanted for unexpected rain. In a gust I still need to turn it into the breeze rather than just keep walking and ignore it. It has felt fine doing that and the mechanism continues to work normally. Coverage is good for me on my own; I wouldn't choose it for two people trying to stay completely dry. I keep a bigger umbrella in the car for that sort of thing. The sleeve is the part I find fiddly. Unless I've wrapped the fabric quite closely, getting it back in takes more patience than I have sometimes. The beige is much like the picture, a pleasant neutral colour. Overall a useful carry-along umbrella.

Don Santiago

Six months in and it's still looking good, better than some…

Six months in and it's still looking good, better than some umbrellas I've owned before, I'm not sure if I'm just more careful in windy weather now or the frame really handles it better, hard to tell yet. Happy with it for everyday rain, I think it will take longer before I can say much about the wind

Michael Lee

Not had it long, so I can't judge how it will wear yet.

Not had it long, so I can't judge how it will wear yet. A press opens it smartly and another folds the canopy. You then compress the stem manually. There's a lot of rain here and black umbrellas everywhere, so mine blends right in. It's compact and I'm satisfied with it up to now.

Todd Richardson

Our two year old is fascinated by this umbrella.

Our two year old is fascinated by this umbrella. She wants to carry it indoors and bring it out to the car with us. It's stayed in good shape so far. I was nervous about little fingers around an umbrella mechanism, so I help her with it (she is only two, after all). The button is easy for me to use and she is happy being the one holding it. Folded up, it's easy for me to take along when she's finished carrying it. A nice purchase that she's getting a lot of enjoyment from.

Shelley Mitchell

Good quality for what I paid, so glad I ordered them!

My 3 year old wanted a green umbrella for Christmas and was thrilled with this! She presses the button and I help push the shaft down afterwards. Her 5 year old sister has one too and loves hers. They have lots of room underneath, and we use them in rain or for shade. Good quality for what I paid, so glad I ordered them!

Jerry Burke

Apparently it is part of her toys already!

Not quite as cute as I pictured, but my four year old thinks it's wonderful. She can manage the opening button herself, which makes her very proud. No rain to try it in yet, so for now she just carries the umbrella round the house. Apparently it is part of her toys already!

Emily Phelps

At first I thought the claims about this umbrella were a bit much... now that I've used it, I'm much more convinced! It feels steady and the coverage is good, though there is a small habit to learn with the button. Pressing it again shuts the canopy, not the whole stem. You still compress the stem yourself, which is not always convenient when getting on the bus. Once I understood that it was quite simple. Around those windy street corners I feel less nervous about the umbrella turning over, and I don't have to keep fighting with it. Not saying it changes the weather, but it makes walking in it nicer. Worth trying.

Melvin Clay

Downtown walks are much less of a nuisance now.

Downtown walks are much less of a nuisance now. My smaller umbrellas kept flipping bcs the wind really gets going there. I've had this out twice in winter rain and it has coped well both times. I needed it to go in my backpack, so the folding size matters. The stem feels a little slim in my hand, but i think that's the compromise with a compact umbrella. One that didn't fold would probably feel more substantial, but I wouldn't have the convenience of putting it in the bag.

Jamie Snyder

An easy recommendation.

I used to buy cheap umbrellas and didn't expect a great deal from them. The fabric was always the bit I watched; I wondered whether being pulled tight and rubbing against the frame was what wore it out. A couple of years seemed a reasonable life. This one has been with me for four years now, and the fabric is still intact. No little holes or worn patches that I can find. It doesn't look like something that's had four years of use. That's what makes me appreciate a well thought out everyday item. Nothing particularly complicated, just a design that works. Coverage is really for one person, so don't expect to share it comfortably. The compact shape and button that gathers the canopy are especially useful getting into the car. An easy recommendation.

Marvin Dawson

Sensible price, good umbrella, pleasant experience.

At work we have two buildings about 100 yards apart, and people need to walk between them even when the weather is poor. Finding a reasonably priced umbrella for those trips was my job.I was a little doubtful about a compact one, but it gives decent cover and feels much better made than I expected. It is straightforward to open when heading out and doesn't take up much room once put away . I also had a question about the delivery information and received a clear, helpful answer. Turned out I had read it wrong. They were patient about that, which I appreciated.I'd happily recommend it for this sort of everyday use. Sensible price, good umbrella, pleasant experience. 5 STARS

It feels substantial when you pick it up, the construction seems good and it opens to a useful size, there's a sleeve included, mine needed some careful folding before it would go back inside after opening, a little fiddly but I think the umbrella itself is very good!

Caleb Delgado

The umbrella looks nice and keeps the rain off well enough.

The umbrella looks nice and keeps the rain off well enough. For me the awkward part is putting it away, not opening it. Pressing the button closes the canopy, but then you still have to push the telescoping shaft in yourself. That takes more effort than I find comfortable when I am also trying to hold things. It is not a fault, just how this one works, but I had pictured something a little less of a handful. There is also more weight to it than I would like in an everyday bag. I still use it because the cover is fine and it feels sturdy. Those little practical things keep me from being more enthusiastic about it.

Richard Hensley

The replacement has been just as dependable.

I've bought two of these over the past year, after leaving the first behind on a very rainy trip. The replacement has been just as dependable. Between work in Manhattan and home in Jersey City it gets plenty of wet-weather use, and the frame has felt reassuring when the breeze picks up. Only a couple of niggles:The oval grip doesn't give my hand quite as much room as I'd like. Folded up, it also takes more space in my bag than some similarly sized umbrellas.

Greg Faulkner

This cream white one has been a nice choice.

My daughter's little umbrella has lasted well, so I decided it was time to have something better for myself. I needed enough room to keep my purse and the baby out of the rain, but didn't want a huge thing to carry around. This cream white one has been a nice choice. The outside is light and the inside is black, and the oval handle is comfortable to hold. I was a bit unsure how sturdy a folding umbrella would feel once open, but it feels much better than the flimsy ones I have had. Used it last week during our rainy June and it kept us dry. I can keep it high enough to see ahead instead of hiding behind it, which helps when carrying the baby. I leave it open to dry before packing it away, rather than putting the wet material away all bunched up.
