I'm in southern Arizona and summer sun is no joke here.

I'm in southern Arizona and summer sun is no joke here. sunscreen gets sticky on my face, then ends up on the phone or sweated away. Hats help my face but don't do much for my hands and arms, where I've already got sun damage. This gives me shade over more of me and I feel less baked walking around.Other umbrellas I've had haven't liked our spring and summer breezes, so I was a bit doubtful, but this one has been doing well through the windy days lately. Another plus is the green canopy when I'm crossing roads. It seems to get drivers' attention better than just me standing there, though I still watch them carefully because turning cars don't always notice pedestrians in the crosswalk.I'm not counting it as a replacement for sunscreen, just very glad to have shade I can take along.

A very nice looking umbrella.

A very nice looking umbrella. I wondered if it might look a bit plain, but it doesn't. It's been getting plenty of use (we've had rain for a couple of months) and I really like it. Not quite as roomy as I imagined, though enough for me on my own. The opening button is especially handy. Would recommend it.

Carol Lambert

I'd happily recommend it.

My first one was with me for several years, and I was so fond of it. People would often comment on it when I had it out. Losing it recently was a real disappointment, so finding the same umbrella again made my day. I ordered a replacement straight away. It's smart and nicely put together, and being able to open it or collapse the canopy with a button helps when I'm carrying things. I'd happily recommend it.

Needed something sturdy but packable for a holiday in Egypt.

Needed something sturdy but packable for a holiday in Egypt. Picked this one after comparing the price, folded size and material. It gives a decent amount of cover opened up, yet doesn't take over my bag. The fabric (not sure of the proper name) feels substantial and is useful for making shade in the sun.I like the beige too! At first I thought the close button was supposed to shorten the whole umbrella and was disappointed. Then I read the directions properly. It closes the canopy; the telescoping part needs pressing down by hand. Once I understood that it was easy to use. Pleased with my choice.

I hold it with the little one as this isn't a tiny childs toy.

Such a cute umbrella, my two year old was excited and the five year old wanted a turn too.I hold it with the little one as this isn't a tiny childs toy. We've had it a couple months and its still looking good despite all the interest from small hands. He loves watching me press the button then going for a walk underneath it. For a child who's desperate to have an umbrella along, this has certainly made ours happy.

My grandson is delighted with his umbrella.

My grandson is delighted with his umbrella. It goes in his school backpack and he thinks it looks very "grown up". He's 10 and being "cool" seems very important just now, so having his friends admire it made his day and apparently earned me some points too. For now Grandma has made a good choice :-)

In Florida I need an umbrella for sun as well as rain.

In Florida I need an umbrella for sun as well as rain. The folded size suits me and it has been useful since I got it. Goes up quickly, and packing it away isn't much trouble. It does feel rather light and flexible once open, so I wouldn't take it out in really rough wind . How long it lasts is something I'll find out, but I didn't spend a fortune on it.

Randy Mitchell

Very satisfied with the quality.

Has a substantial feel and has already seen me through a couple of storms. A useful size once open, and folds down neatly, just not tiny enough for my work bag. I'd call it a car or hall cupboard umbrella rather than something you can tuck into any little bag. Very satisfied with the quality.

There hasn't been any rain to try it in yet

For a while I've kept thinking about an umbrella I saw someone carrying, which had that almost painting-like look to it. I didn't need the identical design, but it made me want to look for something I liked rather than just picking any umbrella. Eventually I landed on this one, and the beige was what caught my eye. There hasn't been any rain to try it in yet; I have had it opened up at home though, and I like the colour in person. It comes with a sleeve to put it away in. The top is beige and underneath the canopy it's black, quite a different appearance looking up from inside, which I hadn't really pictured until it was in front of me. Pressing the button opens it out, and pressing again draws the canopy closed. You still have to shorten the shaft yourself afterwards. I checked that bit before putting it away, as I wasn't quite sure what was automatic and what wasn't!The closed umbrella is longer than I had imagined from the word compact. That's on me for looking at the pictures more than the size information; it isn't going into every little handbag I own. I'll take a larger bag when I want it with me, not a great hardship. I also like the oval loop handle now I've held it, rather than just seen a photo. For now it's back in its sleeve waiting for some rain, but I'm pleased with what turned up.

Replacement sorted = happy me!

My son had one like this and we managed to leave it in a shopping cart. Nobody handed it in, so I went looking for another. Was glad to find this one online rather than keep hunting around shops. It arrived nicely packed and looks just as useful as the old one. Replacement sorted = happy me!

Doesn't bother me though.

I liked my first one so much that when it disappeared I started looking for a replacement. Eventually I ordered another & wouldn't you know it, the original turned up afterwards! Doesn't bother me though. They're handy little umbrellas and now there's one at home and one in my office, so I'm not caught without one when I need it!

Derrick Schmitt

You still shorten the stem yourself afterwards.

In the Pacific Northwest an umbrella is something we use a lot, not an occasional extra. I like being able to sit down in the car and press the button to bring the canopy in, rather than wrestling with it outside. You still shorten the stem yourself afterwards. The sleeve keeps it tidy once it's dry, and the oval handle loop gives me a handy way to hang it up.

The colour was just what she had in mind.

This was a birthday present for my granddaughter, who had been quite clear that she wanted a blue umbrella. The colour was just what she had in mind. I thought it looked lovely and found it straightforward to use, with a good amount of cover for her. The rain that evening was a perfect excuse for her to try it, and she was very keen to get outside with it. A few days later she had it up in the sunshine as well, enjoying having her own bit of shade. It's nice to find a present that's useful as well as something she enjoys. Hopefully it will be with her for quite a few years.

Suddenly the rain decides to take a six month vacation.

So i get an umbrella because, you know, it's wet outside and being soaked gets old. Suddenly the rain decides to take a six month vacation. Now we're talking about a drought and i'm standing here with a perfectly good umbrella. I'm not saying it changed the weather, but THE CLOUDS SEEM TO HAVE RECEIVED THE MESSAGE. At least it looks ready whenever they come back.

Jade Hubbard

Very pleased with the umbrella itself.

Very pleased with the umbrella itself. It pops open quickly with hardly any effort. Putting it away is another matter, mainly the push needed to reset the shaft after the canopy closes. That's a nuisance when you're trying to get moving, less so when you've got time. I like it otherwise, and that closing effort is what stops me giving it the full five stars.

Frank Kelley

This green one looks bright and cheerful.

For her 10th birthday my daughter asked for an umbrella that popped open. This green one looks bright and cheerful. She holds it over herself on sunny days as a parasol too.A breeze caught it on the first outing and it was fine afterwards. I might be borrowing this!

Mathew Johns

Attractive, solid, good coverage, and a few small habits to learn.

Only just received mine, so these are first impressions rather than a report on years of use. The green is attractive, though a shade deeper in daylight than I had expected from the pictures. I had imagined a softer colour. Nothing dreadful about it, and I prefer it with the canopy open rather than all bundled together. The frame feels substantial, with none of that flimsy feeling I have had from inexpensive folding umbrellas. Substantial is a good thing here, because the opening action certainly announces itself. Hold it properly, and point it away from yourself before pressing. I was prepared for it to open, but not quite so briskly! My glasses remained where they belonged, fortunately. There is a definite snap when the canopy comes down, too. Anyone standing nearby might briefly wonder what I am doing. (Nothing exciting. Just putting an umbrella away.) The closed oval loop is convenient for carrying, although for actually holding it I would welcome a little more room for my hand. Reaching the button with my thumb is possible, but I have to think about my grip rather than just casually squeeze it. That is probably the main reason I have not given it five stars. One point worth understanding: pressing the button closes the canopy, not the whole telescoping shaft. That last part is done by hand, and it needs to be pushed all the way back before opening again. It is normal operation, but the word automatic can give a person rather grand expectations. Mine works as intended; there is simply still a bit of work left for me. I first tried to do the final shortening with my fingers doing most of the work. Not my most successful idea. Using both hands and a steady push is much easier, although the spring does ask for a determined effort. No delicate little fingertip gesture here. I would rather do this before settling the wet umbrella against my clothes, since that rather defeats the point of having kept dry. Once shortened, I don't feel obliged to arrange every fold with surgical precision. A quick tidy is enough for the supplied sleeve, which I will use when it is dry rather than wrestle with immediately. I am still deciding how much the firm action bothers me, but the overall balance is favourable. Attractive, solid, good coverage, and a few small habits to learn. I expect to keep it.

We were both pleased with what we'd bought!

Living with all this Tucson sunshine, I wanted some shade for the walk over to the campus shuttle. This makes that walk much more comfortable and I feel cooler underneath. Been using it about two weeks Now I wouldn't pick it for our really windy days, but for the usual sunshine I'm happy. Someone else on campus had one too and we ended up comparing them. We were both pleased with what we'd bought!

Mikayla Whitehead

Picked one up on my way home from work without planning to.

Picked one up on my way home from work without planning to. Then picked up another. Then another. The extras became gifts, and everyone has liked them. Mine has been going strong too. Did I say I chose beige? In SF, of all places. Still gets a few compliments when I'm out. That's a win.

Darrell Houston

A great little umbrella.

A great little umbrella. Having the button to open it and gather the canopy makes it convenient to use. It's been through a few wet, breezy outings and has felt secure, with none of that flimsy feeling. Seems built to last and doesn't take up much room either. Money well spent.

Finding out about rain three days before our wedding was a worry!

Finding out about rain three days before our wedding was a worry! These cream white umbrellas turned out to be a great choice. The pictures of us tucked underneath are so sweet, and we stayed dry while we were outside! We could share one for a photo by standing close, though they're not made for a whole group. They're in our front room now, ready to use again rather than being just a wedding purchase. So glad we had them on the day!

Chad Ho

Very pleased with these.

Very pleased with these. The umbrellas look neatly finished and feel substantial without being awkward to hold. The plain canopy suited the stage better than anything patterned would have. Opening is quick with the button on the handle, and pressing it again brings the canopy closed. The shaft then needs a push down by hand. The oval loop handle was easy to grip while moving them around. Underneath is black, so that gives a different look when the umbrella is tilted. Nice sleeve for putting it away afterwards.I can't comment on keeping rain off. We used these in a theatre production and were delighted with how they looked.

Kurt Keller

This umbrella has been great!

This umbrella has been great! A good amount of cover when it is up, but it folds into something I can actually carry with me. About 40cm long folded, so not a tiny pocket one. One button press puts it up, the next gathers the canopy. I then push the telescoping part down. Mine came with a sleeve, which keeps it tidy once it is dry.Update: I picked cream white for myself and my mother liked it enough to want one too. Hers came with the sleeve as well, so we are both happy.

Having a patch of shade I can take along with me has been wonderful.

Having a patch of shade I can take along with me has been wonderful. I use this for the sun more than the rain, and it shades my face, chest and much of my arms. Makes standing outside a lot more comfortable!I wasn't immediately used to the opening and closing routine. The canopy folds when you press the button, then the shaft needs pushing down by hand. On my first day I was hurrying for the bus and tripped while trying to pack it away. I landed on the ground, but neither I nor the umbrella was any worse for it. Not the test I intended, but there you go!My one wish is that it packed a bit smaller. It fits in a bag, but takes enough space that I don't automatically take it everywhere. Mostly it comes along when I know I'll be outside in the sun for a while. A little less bulk and I'd leave it in there ust in case. Still a purchase I'm glad I made.

Dylan Melton

After two years of using this constantly I'm ready to get another.

After two years of using this constantly I'm ready to get another. Living in NYC means rain isn't just something you watch through a car window- you still have to walk everywhere. This is a sensible size for that. It goes in my work bag but opens wide enough to keep me covered, and has stood up well to the wet, blustery days I've been out in. Being able to open it with a button is something I wouldn't want to give up.

Briana Woods

I love using this umbrella, it has been such a good purchase.

I love using this umbrella, it has been such a good purchase. Would recommend it without hesitation. For me the pole feels a little short, but that's a small thing when it folds down neatly for travelling. Cream White is a wonderful colour. I keep coming back to how nice it looks and how solid it feels. It has a little more weight than some umbrellas I've carried, but the quality makes that feel worthwhile. Just a great umbrella to have along, I am happy with it.

Colton Henderson

Nice timing!

I was pleasantly surprised at how little I had to spend for an umbrella that feels this decent. Even after delivery, the total seemed very reasonable! It turned up earlier than I thought it would, which was welcome with all the rain we've been having and more on the way. Nice timing! My husband has held it over me and the baby, and it gives us enough room tucked in close. It's manageable to carry too. Can't say yet how it will fare over years of use, but right now we're delighted with the purchase!

Kaitlyn Juarez

The automatic opening has a nice snap to it.

I normally buy those little 5 dollar umbrellas and then wonder why I'm buying another a month later. Spent more this time and I'm glad I did. This one is a keeper. The automatic opening has a nice snap to it. Makes me feel a little dramatic every time it rains. Been through enough cheap ones to appreciate something that still works like it should.Good cover for me or 2 ppl huddled close

Audrey Vega

Good value, and I have no hesitation recommending it.

An umbrella I can take along for golf, a day at the beach, or an ordinary rainy walk, rather than keeping different ones for everything. It's portable enough that carrying it isn't a nuisance, and the canopy gives me a useful amount of cover. The pink is bright and clean looking--very attractive. The push-button action is smooth, which adds to the impression of quality. Umbrellas have clearly come on since the old manual ones I remember. Good value, and I have no hesitation recommending it.

Arrived when expected and was what I wanted.

Arrived when expected and was what I wanted. The canopy feels substantial and covers my head and shoulders well. In that fine rain that seems to come from every direction I have stayed dry. It doesn't feel like a flimsy little umbrella just because it folds. The frame is firm, but there is some give in it when the weather gets breezy. I've mostly used bigger umbrellas before and this has been easier for me to manage. I accidently caught the open fabric with the tip of my scissors and it didn't leave a hole, which surprised me. It folds neatly and drys about as quickly as my old one when left open. The button gathers the canopy, then I press the telescoping part down myself. Too long for my small bag, but getting in and out of my car is easy. It works well for me.

Duane Foster

Very useful size, open and packed away.

My second Haven umbrella, and this one has been every bit as useful as the first. I work outdoors whether it's raining or not, so I use an umbrella quite a lot. This compact one gives me decent shelter without leaving me with a long umbrella to carry afterwards. You do feel a pull on it when the wind picks up, and I would prefer a slightly bigger grip for those occasions. The closed loop is comfortable enough otherwise. Two of us can tuck underneath if we stand close. I've been using this one for about a year and the opening and closing still work smoothly. I'm 6'4" with a 50 inch chest, and it covers me well in normal rain. Packing it in my luggage is easy, which matters more to me than I thought it would. It also goes diagonally into the door pocket in my car. Very useful size, open and packed away.

Amy Compton

Pressing the button gives a nice smooth opening.

The finish and overall feel are much like my older umbrella, which was twice the price even in a sale. Pressing the button gives a nice smooth opening. The handle is a plain loop rather than anything fancy, but that's fine with me at this price (the expensive one wasn't exactly luxurious either). And remember, it is for rain, not something to lean your weight on!

James Maldonado

After regular use it still looks good.

Living in Seattle means an umbrella isn't something I only remember twice a year. Mine goes along on hikes and on the trip to work, so it gets plenty of chances to earn its keep. An excellent all rounder! The frame has some give rather than feeling brittle, and it has stayed in shape through the wet, breezy days I've used it for. That matters when you actually use the thing regularly. On sunny walks the canopy is useful for shade as well, which was part of why I wanted it. The cream white looks nice and it folds into a sensible size for carrying. After regular use it still looks good. Would I buy it again? Already have - one to keep spare, one for my wife and another as a gift for someone just settling into Seattle. An umbrella is a pretty practical welcome here. For the amount of use mine gets, I consider the price worthwhile.

I am so happy with this umbrella feels good quality and very Pretty.

I am so happy with this umbrella feels good quality and very Pretty. Pink is my thing most of my apartment has little touches of it dotted about, the pictures dont show how lovely it looks i was so happy opening the package!! Just need a rainy day now so I can take it out!!

Kevin Cisneros

I ordered this one once I was home.

Two months in Bali convinced me I needed a better way to get some shade! My big sun hats were uncomfortable in all that humidity, and the umbrella I had with me still seemed to let too much brightness through. I've had several skin cancers removed, so avoiding sun is important to me. I ordered this one once I was home. What a relief! Standing underneath it is much more comfortable than being out in the glare, and I noticed that straight away! It feels well supported rather than flimsy, and it's been good for rain as well. I am glad I have it now. The only thing keeping it from five stars is putting it away. The button folds the canopy neatly, but compressing the telescoping section afterwards needs more of a push than I would like. Not difficult to understand, just a bit of effort for my hands.

Pamela Bauer

overall a sturdy umbrella and i'd be happy to buy another.

pretty close to what I expected. the blue is a little different from the photo, but the umbrella itself feels well made. keeps the sun off and handles rain fine. can't say how it behaves in strong wind, we don't really get that here. overall a sturdy umbrella and i'd be happy to buy another.

Alexa Estrada

It's smooth to open and comfortable to use.

This is a substantial umbrella, not one of those flimsy little things (which is a relief!). The closed oval handle gives me a good grip, and nothing about it feels delicate. It's smooth to open and comfortable to use. The ribs have some flex to them rather than feeling brittle, so I'm hopeful it will do well on breezy days.

Victoria Kent

Excellent quality for the money.

Impressed hardly covers how I feel about this umbrella. The gray against the black underneath looks wonderfully understated. It has that expensive finish without an expensive bill. Everything feels properly put together. My one complaint, if you can call it that, is all the attention. I was stopped more than once by people admiring it when I was only trying to get where I was going. Excellent quality for the money.

Aimee Harper

She loves it, says it's kept her dry and stayed steady in the wind.

I gave this to my daughter, who gets around Pittsburgh on foot or by bus. She loves it, says it's kept her dry and stayed steady in the wind. It's not too bulky for her to carry along either, which matters when you don't have a car. Seems very solidly made. Her enthusiasm made me buy a second one....and then I went and left it on a bus! :-)

Isabel Giles

Very pleased with it and happy to recommend it.

This umbrella is useful on the golf course, for some shade at the beach, and on a rainy walk down the street. It gives me a good amount of cover without being a big thing to take along. The price seemed fair and the button action feels smooth and well made. Black is plain but smart--which suits me. I hadn't bought an umbrella for a while and the convenience was a nice surprise. Very pleased with it and happy to recommend it.

Tracey Campos

Happy apart from the size.

Its rather large for my two year old really, although she does get around with it. I think she enjoys carrying it about indoors more than actually going out in rain. We've had it a few weeks now and so far it's staying in good shape. Happy apart from the size.

Kristine Moss

Glad to have found an umbrella I like again.

I'd kept my old umbrella going for twenty years because I liked the shape and feel of it so much. It was finally coming apart and I wasn't looking forward to finding something to replace it.This one has the sort of simple design I wanted and is comfortable to carry. The price was reasonable too. Glad to have found an umbrella I like again.

Tami Mcmillan

some shade if the sun comes out would be useful too.

These blue umbrellas have such a nice look, smart without feeling bulky or awkward to hold. They are for my daughter's wedding, although fingers crossed we won't actually need them for rain...some shade if the sun comes out would be useful too. I looked through quite a few options before choosing these, and the price seemed very fair! They feel substantial enough to be worth keeping afterwards as well. So glad I spent the time looking. Many thanks!

Terrence Blanchard

the oval handle is handy to carry it by.

nice fabric. lovely pink. covers me well. not too heavy. there is room to tuck someone close under it while walking. I mainly wanted some shade from the sun. it folds down to about 40cm, still a bit long for my small purse(but easier to carry than a full length one). the oval handle is handy to carry it by. haven't had much wind with it yet. so i will come back and say more once i've used it through some rougher weather.

Andres Parker

It's sturdy and handy to have there.

I keep mine in the car for sudden rain, for my fiance, our little boy and me. It's sturdy and handy to have there. We can share if we tuck in close, but understand this isn't a huge family umbrella. Much better sized for one person. Unless everyone enjoys being practically glued together.

An umbrella I had used for years disappeared from my front porch…

An umbrella I had used for years disappeared from my front porch during a bad storm. I had left it there without thinking, so replacing it was my own doing. I wanted something that was easy to open like that one, and I am happy with the one I picked. It folds down rather than staying full length, which is a nice change when I am carrying it around. The canopy opens with a good firm feel and the ribs seem substantial without making it awkward to hold. It is early to know whether it will last as long as my old umbrella did, but so far I like using it. I tend to keep things for years if they work, and I hope this will be one of those things. If it wears as well as I expect, my husband may be getting one too.

Why am I still choosing presents according to what I like!?!

Why am I still choosing presents according to what I like!?! Apparently I think my taste is universal after a glass of wine. I picked the green umbrella for a friend, and his reaction was much better than mine. The colour just wasn't the sort of green I had pictured. Nothing dramatic, no great disaster, but enough to make me pull a face at the photo he sent. I realise I'm having an argument with a shade of green here (the shade has not offered a defence). He likes it, though, and says it opens easily and keeps him dry. So the umbrella itself has turned out fine and the person actually using it is satisfied. I still wouldn't pick that colour for myself. Next time somebody else can be in charge of my colour decisions!!!!

Luke Davies

Cute umbrella, and it has held up nicely to regular use!

Cute umbrella, and it has held up nicely to regular use! My six year old can open it with the button, and could at five too. The loop handle feels nice and the whole thing seems well made. He loves taking it along, makes the walk to school on a wet day that much more fun!

Duane Cantrell

I bought 2 umbrella for my Jr.

I bought 2 umbrella for my Jr. High daughter and this is the one she likes best. She walks or bikes to school everyday and our winter is mostly rain with a bit of wind. I wanted something she could carry easily but still have enough cover on the walk. It seems nicely made and has done well so far. Hopefully it will see her through quite a few wet winters, it certainly feels promising.

Martin Hanna

They're going to love having this by the door.

I'd been hunting for a housewarming gift for my neighbors, something useful but still nice to open. This umbrella has a really good quality feel to it and looks even better than the pictures. Plenty of cover for rainy days as well. They're going to love having this by the door. SO excited to give it to them.....
