On bright days I can really tell the difference sitting under this rather than being out in the sun. It gives a comfortable patch of shade without feeling awkward to hold. BUT I would NOT choose a folding umbrella for very rough weather, and I still keep an eye on it when the wind comes up. Shade was my main reason for buying it, though, and for that I'm happy with it. Happy enough that I bought a second one.

I'm loving this for shade.
I'm loving this for shade. I need to stay out of direct sunshine and it gives me a good patch to sit under. Enough cover without a lot of weight to hold. I'd recommend taking it to a game or the beach if youwant shade you can move with you. Arrived looking lovely, beige on top and black underneath. Just right

The build feels very good.
The build feels very good. A press of the button opens it right up and the frame has felt steady on windy days. I normally expect a folding umbrella to feel less substantial than my full length one, but this doesn't have that flimsy feeling at all (a pleasant surprise).

Useful umbrella - the ribs have quite a bit of give, which I can see being helpful in the wind. The downside is the canopy moves about with them, so I have to change how I'm holding it to stay covered. Fine for regular showers, just not my first choice when the rain is coming in sideways.
Marilyn Knight
I am very pleased with the umbrella I chose.
I am very pleased with the umbrella I chose. Taking it out of the package, it was much as I had pictured from looking online. The material feels good & it works well, so I am hoping it will be with me for a long time. I especially like the oval handle, a little different from the umbrellas I normally see. People do notice it. It's satisfying when something turns up and is simply what you expected, that's really all I wanted
Miranda Lawson
The quick canopy collapse is the part I need to remember.
Only been out with it once so far, I think, but its handy to carry. I can see a place for this as well as a full length umbrella if you've got room for both. The grip is fine in one hand, just less room to change how you're holding it, and it doesn't sit as high as the long umbrellas I'm used to.The quick canopy collapse is the part I need to remember. A button press folds it suddenly rather than gradually, so any rain on top can splash about. I hold it off to one side before pressing, away from me or anyone nearby. Simple enough once you know, and not something that would put me off using it.

Quite a lot of Umbrella when you pop it open!
Quite a lot of Umbrella when you pop it open! I wasn't expecting that from the folded size. Besides that it feels properly made, the fabric doesn't have that flimsy feel, and the pink is bright and cheerful, ready for the beach or wherever! Not a huge golf umbrella, so no caddy needed to carry it around for me. Seriously though, the coverage is good for one person and I like having something substantial over my head in a downpour. Folded up it's manageable for everyday use too. You don't need arms like a weightlifter to bring this along!
Amber Jenkins
It fits along the bottom without taking the whole bag over.
Having this tucked in my purse means I'm not caught out by a sudden shower anymore! It fits along the bottom without taking the whole bag over. I wouldn't expect it to stand up to really wild weather, but for the rain I actually walk in it has been just right.
Isabel Carney
A good choice for me.
I've found this a good umbrella to use and a tidy one to put away. The button has been reliable every time I've needed it.It doesn't feel like something I'll have to replace straight away, which is what I want from an umbrella. The ribs have some give rather than feeling rigid, and the whole thing feels properly put together. I appreciate having something dependable instead of wondering if it will manage the next rainy day. A good choice for me.

Better than I expected and I'm delighted with it.
Better than I expected and I'm delighted with it. Gave it to my husband for Father's Day and he is just as taken with it. I'd happily buy here again, no second thoughts. He likes it enough to wipe it dry after every outing:)That says everything really. Many thanks from a VERY PLEASED customer

Looks smart.
Looks smart. So far it has held up nicely. The oval loop handle makes it easier to pick mine out in an umbrella stand, although the black canopy still looks like plenty of others. I've had enough umbrellas wander off in restaurants. Would like it a little more distinctive, but it's a good umbrella and I'd get another.

I spent quite a while comparing umbrellas before choosing this for my wife. She works at a hospital in the city and the walk out to her car can be pretty breezy. She wanted something sturdier without having a huge umbrella to carry around. This one has been a success, and it goes with her whenever the forecast looks wet. A practical Valentine's present, but one she was genuinely delighted to get!

Funny how a small thing like that sticks with you.
When I was a little girl I saw a really pretty umbrella in a shop and got it into my head that one day I'd have one. By the time I went back with money saved, the place had shut! Funny how a small thing like that sticks with you. I thought of it again years later and went looking for something with that same lovely feel. This one in Cream White has done it for me. It's pretty without being fussy, and it doesn't feel flimsy at all. Folded up I can put it in my larger purse rather than carry a long umbrella around. A press on the handle sends it up ready to use. Press again and the canopy gathers in, then I shorten the stem by hand so it's ready to put away. Such a simple thing, but it really does make that little-girl part of me smile!

My legs got wet, but everything above my waist stayed dry.
I bought this after starting work in the city, because I needed to stay dry on my walk from the train to the office. Practical was important, but I wanted a bit of personality as well. This suited me. I was surprised by how substantial it felt when I opened it. The first time I needed it was during a really nasty storm, pouring rain and wind that made the umbrella hard to hold onto. Other umbrellas were turning inside out, leaving their owners soaked. My legs got wet, but everything above my waist stayed dry. I made it to my meeting looking only a little windblown, compared with everyone else who was drenched. For what I paid, I'm very pleased with how much protection I got.

Excellent on my walk from the train to the office this morning!
Excellent on my walk from the train to the office this morning! It was windy and raining, and I wasn't having to wrestle the umbrella all the way there. The ribs have some flexibility rather than feeling completely rigid. The push button is useful too - one press puts the canopy up, another brings it closed. After that you push the telescoping pole together yourself, which is straightforward once you know that's how it works. It packs neatly into the sleeve when dry, so it doesn't look like a bundle of loose fabric when I'm done.As for worrying about looks... I want an umbrella to be comfortable to use and keep the rain off first. This looks perfectly neat to me anyway. Not every little detail needs to become a major complaint... sometimes it's just a useful umbrella that does its job.

It arrived quickly and is lovely to look at.
It arrived quickly and is lovely to look at. I haven't tried it in rain yet, just the opening and closing. It feels quite stiff . The canopy closes by button, but I need the ground to brace it while pushing the shaft down. Opening is really abrupt. Hoping it will get smoother once it's had a bit of use.

Great value -- very happy to recommend it !
I needed something durable to keep in my Golf Bag. Kept finding huge umbrellas with prices that made me wince .... eventually came across this one ... plenty sturdy enough for me, without spending anywhere near that much !!! Great value -- very happy to recommend it !

They have been a useful addition to my patio routine.
Two of these have been useful for sheltering my patio pots when the rain gets too hard. The mixed containers have begonias and other tender annuals, and a heavy shower can leave the flowers looking rather battered. I hold a canopy over whichever arrangement needs attention rather than letting the rain pound directly onto it. It spreads well beyond a small pot, and the fabric is not see-through, so I treat this as temporary cover rather than something to leave over plants for days. Folding them away afterwards is much less cumbersome than finding space for long umbrellas. For this rather particular use, the easy opening is helpful when I want to get cover over a pot quickly. They are still handheld umbrellas, so they need someone there to position them. They have been a useful addition to my patio routine.
Tracy Yang
Happy I gave them a chance.
I wasn't expecting much when I ordered these, honestly. At the price I wondered whether they'd feel flimsy, but they've been a pleasant surprise. The button works cleanly and they don't feel cumbersome to carry. Had them out through a fairly wet, blustery spell and no trouble. Good cover...we can share one if we stand close. Happy I gave them a chance.

It arrived in good shape and I'm rather smitten...
It arrived in good shape and I'm rather smitten... the oval loop handle, the way the canopy springs up, the generous cover when it's open and - best of all - that lovely Cream White outside. It's such a pleasing, simple look against the black underneath. I keep opening it just to admire it (ridiculous, I know!). Naturally, almost every day since it turned up has been sunny. A little rain would actually be welcome for once, because I want an excuse to take my lovely new umbrella out!
Mary Kerr
For the size it folds down to, the open umbrella gives good cover.
For the size it folds down to, the open umbrella gives good cover. It's a little longer than the tiny compact ones, but still easy enough to carry. The sleeve is included, which I like, although I have to straighten the folds before it'll slide in neatly. That small bit of fuss is my reason for four stars. I prefer to put it away covered rather than loose in my bag.
Mindy Thornton
Worth considering what you pack, not just how cheaply you pack it.
For trips where a breeze tends to come with the rain, I'd recommend this. A tiny bargain umbrella isn't much of a saving if it's unpleasant to use. Paying extra for something sturdier makes sense to me.Worth considering what you pack, not just how cheaply you pack it.
Roger Cochran
The finish of the umbrella seems good.
It took a while to get here. The finish of the umbrella seems good. I have not tried it on the way to work. For everyday use it is very satisfactory for the price. The materials are neatly finished. Size is as described. I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend it.
Tom Yu
It looked lovely, and I'm expecting to use it in actual rain too.
We bought it for our engagement photos after hunting around for a pink umbrella. There was a TV reference we wanted to sneak into the pictures. It looked lovely, and I'm expecting to use it in actual rain too. The oval handle has a funny sort of storybook charm to me.

So, back to looking for an umbrella.
My previous umbrella met its end on the subway when somebody planted a foot on it and snapped it. They managed to disappear at the next stop without even apologising. So, back to looking for an umbrella. Found this one online, spent a while going through the reviews and decided to give it a go. It's a GOOD solid umbrella, a definite step up from the flimsy ones I've ended up with before. A vented top would have been a nice addition for breezy days, but that's about the only thing I'd change.
I've seen remarks about the handle feeling cheap. Honestly, the oval loop seems sturdy enough to me, and it's comfortable to carry. Would I go smacking it against things? No...but I'm buying something to keep me dry, not equipment for a duel. =)
The funny bit is how often somebody notices it and starts asking about it. I wasn't particularly shopping for something to chat about on public transport, but apparently that's what I've got as well. If being left alone is your main priority, you might not appreciate that side of it! If you don't mind a stranger striking up a conversation, it's rather a nice extra. More importantly, I arrive dry, which was the whole point of replacing the old one.
Kara Buchanan
My son was delighted with this umbrella!
My son was delighted with this umbrella! Apparently several of his friends have one, so he thought I'd somehow known what to choose. Truth is I just read what people had said about it and went with that. Seems their advice was sound, and I get to look clever for once.

The fabric is nice and the frame seems sturdy.
I purchased two blue umbrellas for my great-grandaughters. They were delighted. The fabric is nice and the frame seems sturdy. Well put together. Mostly wanted for sun and parties, although these are useful for rain as well. Everyone that has seen them, has had something nice to say.
Shelia Montgomery
not just for the performance, it's a good everyday umbrella too.
The cheaper umbrella I'd first tried wasn't up to what I needed. I wanted this for a performance the next day, so I was quite relieved to have something that opened properly and looked right. It's done the job nicely. I will definately consider this sort again...not just for the performance, it's a good everyday umbrella too.

The Haven umbrella looks smart when it is opened up.
The Haven umbrella looks smart when it is opened up. It has a more substantial feel than I expected from something that folds away, and the handle has a distinctive shape without being awkward to hold. The 30 ribs give the canopy a nicely supported feel. The frame doesn't feel flimsy when a gust catches it.One thing worth noting is that compact when folded doesn't mean tiny when open. Walking around Boston, I still have to pay attention when passing people on a narrow sidewalk. There is enough canopy over me that I don't feel squeezed underneath it. For someone wanting useful rain cover that can also be packed away between walks, I think this is a very good choice.

The first thing I checked was the handle.
I ordered this a couple of weeks ago because I wanted an umbrella that felt dependable, rather than something I would have to replace after a few uses. I was looking forward to trying it when the package arrived, although I didn't unpack it immediately. It wasn't until a wet day a few days later that I finally took it out, intending to bring it with me.
The first thing I checked was the handle. The closed oval shape is different from what I'm used to, but it felt solid in my hand and there weren't any uncomfortable edges. Then I looked over the folded frame and fabric. Everything seemed neatly put together. I'm a bit particular about that, because looking nice while folded doesn't necessarily tell you much about how an umbrella will behave once it's open.
I took it outdoors and tried the button. It opened straight away, with the fabric spreading evenly instead of needing me to fiddle with it. There was enough coverage for me, and carrying it in the rain felt quite natural. I wasn't constantly adjusting my grip or worrying about it turning inside out. (I wouldn't deliberately take any umbrella out in a storm, but I do want to feel reasonably confident using one.)
Packing it away was straightforward too. The button closes the canopy, and then I compressed the telescoping stem until it clicked into place. Having done it once, I knew what to expect the next time.
I'm pleased with how this has worked out. It feels sturdy without being a nuisance to carry, and it has kept me dry on the occasions I've used it. Obviously a few weeks isn't enough to say how it will last over the years, but my first impressions have held up well. This is something I'll be keeping handy rather than leaving at home because it's awkward to use.
Kent Thomas
I really rate this umbrella.
I've gone through far too many umbrellas, from the cheap ones that barely lasted to pricey ones that weren't much better. This one has been with me for three YEARS of everyday use and has earned its place. The frame still feels sound, the fabric has held up, and the button still sends the canopy out and gathers it in without any drama. I don't expect miracles from a handheld umbrella in bad weather, but it has coped with the breezy days I've used it on. That's more than I could say for most of my old ones. I'm back for another because I'd rather stick with something that has actually lasted. I really rate this umbrella.
Darius Peck
Handy, just not quite the cover I wanted.
Seems strongly made and I think it looks cute. For me it is really a one person umbrella though. I'm not very big, but with a bag on my shoulder I still find one side can get wet when the rain blows in.I'll use it for lighter showers and probably look for something wider for longer walks. Handy, just not quite the cover I wanted.
Dustin Mclaughlin
Really pleased with how practical it is as well as how nice it looks!
The cream white looks really cheerful and clean, which is what drew me to this umbrella. The sleeve is usable too: I can get it BACK inside after use, as long as I fold the fabric reasonably neatly. That sounds small but it matters! My favourite part is being able to open it with one button when I'm juggling a purse and keeping track of my daughter. It springs open promptly, and another press gathers the canopy down. You still need to shorten the telescoping shaft yourself before it's packed away, which was straightforward once I'd done it. The ribs feel flexible rather than flimsy, and there's a useful amount of cover for me, with my daughter tucked close beside me when needed. It's kept its shape during our wet, breezy walks so far. I don't feel as though I'm wrestling with something oversized, but it doesn't feel tiny overhead either. Really pleased with how practical it is as well as how nice it looks!

Mine stays in the car for those unexpected showers.
Mine stays in the car for those unexpected showers. It fits along the bottom of the door compartment. Pressing the button and seeing it spring open is ridiculously satisfying (Instantly prepared!) A couple of years of use and it's still looking good and working just as it should.
Gordon Jimenez
The blue is lovely, not dull at all.
This umbrella makes me smile: its small to carry and surprisingly roomy once up. Solid without being a burden, smart, useful... I've been through plenty of umbrellas and this one gives me a much better feeling. The button has a nice positive action and it opens with a proper snap. There's enough space for two if you stand close, which I wasn't expecting from something that folds down like this. The blue is lovely, not dull at all. Probably my favourite umbrella so far: I actually want to take it out rather than leave it behind.
Reginald Ramirez
Thank you for making things easy!!
Five stars from me for a purchase that has been straightforward from start to finish. The service was helpful and i appreciated that. About the umbrella, it gives a solid impression and the finish is nice. I haven't owned it long enough to tell anybody it will last for years, so i am waiting to see on that part. It is rather heavy in my small hand, but the materials don't feel cheap and it opens without any fuss. Overall i am happy with what I got and with the way I was treated. Thank you for making things easy!!
Cassie Cardenas
I am very pleased with this new one.
My old umbrella disappeared from the front porch during a bad wind storm. I had left it out there without thinking and was sorry to lose it after so many years. For a replacement I wanted the easy opening I was used to, even if it wasn't exactly the same style. I am very pleased with this new one. It opens nicely with the button and seems put together with care. The folding design is a change from my old straight umbrella, but it makes it easier to put away when I am not using it. I can't say yet whether it will last as long as the old one did. That is something only time will tell. For now I like the way it handles and am happy with my choice. If it continues to do well, I will get another for my husband.
Gregory Liu
This one gives me much better coverage without feeling huge to carry.
Walking to work made me realise my old umbrella just wasn't doing the job. A quick dash was alright, but on longer walks my shoulders and backpack ended up wet. This one gives me much better coverage without feeling huge to carry. There's enough room for me with my bag, which was the main reason for changing. I've only used it on one windy day so far, and it coped well when the gusts kept shifting.
Felicia Carter
I liked this umbrella a lot.
I dont get why a different color is showing by my reveiw. Mine is gray.I liked this umbrella a lot. Was nervous at first cuz of some reviews, but it did well for about 2 years. Mostly kept it in my trunk with everything piled around it. Any wear is on me really, not the umbrella.
Rickey Stanton
The handle is comfortable and nothing about it feels flimsy.
I was after something not to bulky for the walk to work in Chicago, but with enough substance for windy days. So far this has suited me just right. The handle is comfortable and nothing about it feels flimsy. I expect it to last quite a while. Folded up it's still a little longer than I'd like for my backpack, but that's a small thing.
Katelyn Salas
Nearly a year of use has made me a fan of this umbrella.
Nearly a year of use has made me a fan of this umbrella. I lost mine once and came straight back for another. New York rain soon exposes a flimsy umbrella, and this one hasn't let me down, even after plenty of outings. It looks nice as well, which make walking in the wet a little less gloomy. I'd happily keep buying the same one.
Jim Bennett
It has kept the rain off and coped well with breezes on my walks.
Walking is how I get around, so I'm fed up with flimsy umbrellas that don't last. This feels like the reliable one I was hoping to find. It has kept the rain off and coped well with breezes on my walks. The pink is attractive without being too much. Happy to have spent a little on something that feels dependable.
Tony Nash
I would gladly recommend it to others!
I ordered this umbrella, and I like it more than I expected to. It feels sturdy once opened - there is a good amount of support under the fabric, and it doesn't feel flimsy in my hand. The finish is attractive too (always nice with something practical!). Having a compact umbrella doesn't have to mean getting hardly any cover in the rain. This one gives me enough room, then folds down so I don't have a long umbrella to carry around. The button has been straightforward to use, and overall it seems well made. I would gladly recommend it to others!
Mike Roth
plus that OVAL HANDLE!
Most umbrellas annoy me; thin looking supports, fiddly bits you have to shove up with your fingers, and then the nicer ones seem to cost a fortune. so i was interested in this one because it looked more substantial and had a button... plus that OVAL HANDLE! i noticed someone with a loop handled umbrella on the bus and thought yes, that makes sense for carrying one around.costs a little more than i'd normally want to spend on an umbrella, which is why i'm not giving it the full five. the canopy moves with a press and the shaft just needs pushing back in after, much nicer than wrestling with the whole thing. ideally it would be cheaper, but i still like it enough that i'm keeping it.
Melanie Lynch
Does the job I'd expect of a small umbrella at a fair price.
Quick to open, and the canopy shuts easily with the button. It takes up little room in my work bag. Dries fast left partly folded, so I don't put it away damp. Does the job I'd expect of a small umbrella at a fair price. I'd buy another like this if I ever needed a replacement.
Fernando Harris
It works properly, just not quite what I expected.
I was a little uncertain about the closing action at first. The button folds the canopy, then the telescoping section needs a firm push down manually. It works properly, just not quite what I expected. Everything looks sound, and I'll see how it fares in the rain forecast for tonight.
Caitlyn Barton
Once inside I let it dry before packing it away.
I spend a lot of time walking across a college campus, and rain with a gusty breeze can make the trip between buildings pretty miserable. I've had the usual experience of arriving with damp clothes and a wet backpack, despite having an umbrella with me. Seeing another student with a compact one made me look for something I could actually keep with me instead of leaving at home. I checked the folded size before buying because it needed to fit in my locker. This fits, and when it's open I can cover myself and the backpack with my binder, laptop and lunch in it. I still have to position it sensibly, but it has made those walks much less annoying. One small thing worth knowing is that the button draws the canopy in, not the whole shaft. That still needs compressing by hand and requires a firmer push than I expected at first. Nothing wrong with it, just not entirely hands free closing. Once inside I let it dry before packing it away. Overall it has been a useful purchase and I'm happy to have it for campus.
Misty Howe
The umbrella itself seems nice.
The umbrella itself seems nice. I expected something a little larger from the picture, but I'm happy with the size and how sturdy it feels. Early days though; I haven't tried it in rain yet. The material feels a bit rubbery, can't really tell what it is, but I think it should work well. For what it cost I'd recommend it. We'll know after a proper try because autumn is here and there will be more rain.
Mercedes Hunter
The handle is worth mentioning too.
A green umbrella is a much nicer sight on a miserable morning than another dull thing to carry. This one has a cheerful appearance without looking fussy, and feels properly put together. Years ago, with small children alongside me, I was always looking for enough shelter without having a great long umbrella to lug about. This would have been a useful compromise then, although I wouldn't expect it to shelter the whole family!
For a folding umbrella, there is still a fair amount to it. At about 390g it isn't something that disappears weightlessly into a handbag, and the folded length is around 40cm. It is, however, far more manageable to put away than a full-length umbrella. I appreciate that distinction when carrying other things. Compact, yes, but not one of those tiny emergency umbrellas.
The black underside looks neat, and I appreciate having some shade overhead on sunny days. It is nice to have a reason to carry this beyond the prospect of rain. In ordinary breezy weather it has also felt reassuring rather than flimsy. I haven't had it flip over on me, though I wouldn't take that as an invitation to stand out in a storm.
Looking more closely, the 30 flexible ribs give the canopy good support without making it feel like a rigid contraption. The handle is worth mentioning too. It is a closed oval loop rather than the traditional curved hook, which took a little getting used to but now feels comfortable in my hand. Pressing the button opens it promptly, and another press draws the canopy closed. You do still have to shorten the telescoping stem manually afterwards; that is simply part of putting it away. Overall, the workings feel smooth, and I am quite taken with the construction.
I would happily suggest this to friends or family wanting an everyday umbrella. My only caution is to judge it as a compact umbrella, not a family-sized shelter. It gives me comfortable coverage, but I still have to mind the open canopy when passing people on a narrow pavement.
Troy Blake
I've had it out in the rain several times now and stayed dry.
Beige is my favorite shade for things like this, so I was happy before I even opened it! I'd seen comments about the button needing a firm push. That actually suits me because my previous umbrella would spring open if I so much as brushed against it. On this one I have to mean it when I press. There is one thing that might bother somebody else more than me: getting it neatly back into the sleeve looks like a job for a patient person. I don't normally bother with umbrella sleeves anyway, it's another loose thing for me to misplace, so that isn't much of a drawback here. If you always use yours, you may want to take a bit more care folding it.I've had it out in the rain several times now and stayed dry. That's the important bit for me, and I'm delighted!
