I honestly couldn't be happier with how this has worked out.

I honestly couldn't be happier with how this has worked out. I had the wrong idea about the automatic closing at first and contacted the seller because I thought I was doing something wrong. They explained it without making me feel foolish, which I appreciated. The button brings the canopy in, then you push the shaft back down by hand. That made sense once I understood it.(I was thinking about exchanging it, but I'm keeping it because it's been such a handy umbrella! It's handled the windy days here in San Francisco well so far and feels solid when I'm holding it. ) Between that reassuring feel and not having to wrestle the canopy shut, I'm very glad I gave it a chance. A good umbrella is something you really do appreciate when the weather turns! Thanks for the patience :)

Let it rain!

Let it rain! I've had lovely comments about this umbrella and I enjoy carrying it. I wouldn't call it big enough for two adults, but for me it's a good everyday size. I have had lots of umbrellas, including some supposedly expensive ones. This is the first I've actually taken the trouble to pick out and buy for myself, and I much prefer it.The construction feels solid without making it a chore to carry. I especially like the button, since I don't have to fiddle around with a catch near my fingers to get it open. My only aesthetic grumble is that the cream white outside doesn't continue underneath; the inside is black. That's just my artistic side wanting everything to match, not something that affects using it. For the price, I'm thoroughly satisfied.

Nice solid feel and it gave me good shade.

Had it delivered a few hours ago and took it outside for a quick try. Nice solid feel and it gave me good shade. Nothing but sunshine here, so I haven't got a rain report yet.It looks good in blue and has a bit of substance without feeling like a weight to carry. I'm eagerly awaiting some rain (no, I'm not). Buying an umbrella doesn't mean I've suddenly started enjoying getting rained on.I'm already considering another one for my wife, that's how much I like the first impression.

This feels reassuringly firm and gives me good cover in a downpour.

Too many of my little umbrellas have turned inside out, so I wanted a more substantial one for wet, blustery days. This feels reassuringly firm and gives me good cover in a downpour. There is some weight to carry about, but I'll happily accept that for something I can rely on.

Taylor Nash

It does feel much better put together.

Never expected to have opinions about which umbrella I reach for, but apparently I do now. I haven't put this through the sort of rough wind that finished off my old ones, so I'm not claiming anything there. It does feel much better put together. The closed loop handle struck me as an odd idea at first, but it actually sits nicely in my hand. Being able to fold it down makes it much less awkward to carry on a longer walk too.

It seems very good quality and the colour is lovely.

My son kept asking to have his own umbrella, so eventually I started looking. There were only few that appealed to him. I showed him the green one and that was decided straight away. It seems very good quality and the colour is lovely. Not too heavy for me to bring along either. He wanted to take it for a walk even though there wasn't any rain. I'd recommend it, he's very pleased.Note: we still haven't tried this out in actual rain yet.

Very good umbrella.

One of my favorite umbrellas - I've now had three. It's a bit longer folded than I'd prefer, but that hasn't put me off using it. I pay quite a bit of attention to the frame and how it all goes together, and this one seems solid rather than flimsy. The button opening is handy, and it has worked well in the rain I've taken it through. I bought another so there is one waiting in the car instead of constantly carrying the same one back and forth. Very good umbrella.

A good umbrella, backed up by helpful people -- that matters to me.

A good umbrella, backed up by helpful people -- that matters to me. I spend far too long comparing things before I decide...and the questions I had were answered patiently rather than brushed off. They even seemed interested when I mentioned an idea. I've had a few of these now and they've worn well with regular use. When I've needed advice, it has been easy to get a useful response. That makes me comfortable coming back for another.

Absolutely ADORE how this umbrella looks!!

Absolutely ADORE how this umbrella looks!! It's got such a lovely shape and looks good when it's open. One thing to remember when putting it away, the button closes the canopy but you still need to slide the pole in yourself. That's just how it works, not a problem once you know. I'd prefer it a little shorter when folded, but I still love taking it out! Had it with me at a festival in the summer and having my own bit of shade made standing in the sun much nicer. A few lovely comments as well. :) Would I tell a friend to get one? Definitely yes!

Now they actually ask to go and sit out in the rain.

My children, aged 4 and 7, had asked for umbrellas with characters on them, but were quite happy with these once the rain started! They LOVED standing outside watching drops hit the canopy and run down. Now they actually ask to go and sit out in the rain. It makes me laugh! They find the opening button easy and I help them fold everything away afterwards. They feel well made, though they're bigger than little children's umbrellas, so the younger one has me close by when using it.

Two of my old umbrellas went in heavy rain & wind (darn weather!

I like colourful umbrellas, not ones that look as though they're for a little kid. This pink is bright but still looks professional. Feels very well made. Two of my old umbrellas went in heavy rain & wind (darn weather!) though each had lasted me a year. Hopefully this one does as well...

Destiny Banks

good size once open.

good size once open.My daughter plays soccer so we've each got one for the stands, my husband, son and me. With them up its our own little sheltered spot. The folded size is handy, but honestly I care more about staying dry. Glad I can cheer my daughter on without getting soaked in the rainy weather they play through.WORTH HAVING

Handy for those quick dashes in and out of the rain.

Picked this out for a friend and now I wish I'd ordered one for myself too! I expected something tiny because it's a compact umbrella, but opened up it's a perfectly normal, useful size. My friend was SO pleased with it. The cream white looked just like the photo and has a really classy look, not fussy at all. Handy for those quick dashes in and out of the rain. It's a nice gift without feeling like a dull practical thing.

In reality this is more of a bag umbrella.

From the pictures I was expecting something closer to a little pocket umbrella, just made a bit sturdier. In reality this is more of a bag umbrella. Folded, it's about 40cm long, and at roughly 390g you notice it more than one of the very small lightweight ones. The folded canopy also takes up a fair bit of room, so it's not something I'd try stuffing in a jacket. It fits in my messenger bag, but doesn't leave loads of spare space. That said, it feels like a *proper* umbrella. The frame has a solid feel and the canopy gives me decent coverage when the rain gets going. It's also held its shape on blustery walks. The oval handle is comfortable enough to hold, and the ribs look much more substantial than those on my old flimsy umbrella. All told, it trades some pocketability for a reassuring feel, and for my usual walks I think that's a reasonable compromise. Just worth checking the folded size first.

Rachael Rush

There's enough cover for me with room to spare, and it feels solid.

There's enough cover for me with room to spare, and it feels solid. One press gets it up quickly, which I appreciate when rain catches me out. I've had compliments on the look of it as well. It has coped nicely with some blustery weather and I'm delighted with it.

Russell Calhoun

Very pleased with the umbrella and the button opening & folding.

Very pleased with the umbrella and the button opening & folding. Older women, though: BE AWARE. The last part takes some strength. Pressing the button closes the canopy, not the whole shaft, & that must be pushed right back in before it is ready to open again. You can hear it click once it is fully reset. I brace the handle against my chest & push the top down firmly to get there. At 60 I still consider myself fairly strong, but it is a definite push. Anyone with arthritis or weaker hands could have a hard time with that part.

Dave Mueller

Very happy with it overall.

This is the one I keep coming back to - my third umbrella like it. A little bigger when folded than I would ideally choose, but it has been dependable in the rain and useful for shade as well. I keep my umbrellas for years, not just a season, and this feels solid enough to be worth holding on to. I have a second one that stays in the car, saves me forever remembering to bring one along. Very happy with it overall.

Brianna Chambers

No more lugging a long umbrella around!

Fits in the tote I carry most days with my reader and the other bits I need. No more lugging a long umbrella around! Water shakes off nicely before I pack it up, though I leave it out to finish drying when I get home. Having the sleeve makes it much neater in my bag.

Bryce Bowers

Hoping it will be with us a long time.

I wanted enough room to keep both myself and my daughter covered, but didn't want an umbrella I had to carry separately all day. This one goes into my handbag (really a totebag) quite comfortably. It has felt solid through the heavy rain we've had in Houston and kept us dry standing close together. Hoping it will be with us a long time.

Lydia Carney

Coverage is about right.

The substantial grip is comfortable in my hand, and I appreciate having a button to open it and bring the canopy down. Its carry sleeve also makes it neat to stow away. Coverage is about right. Having owned several, I have been happy with their construction. In my case they generally disappear after a year or two because I leave them somewhere, rather than because the umbrella is worn out.

Melissa Gross

The beige is a nice, simple colour.

Roomy enough for me and it has stood up well to wet afternoons watching my kids' school sports. The beige is a nice, simple colour. It's had plenty of use over the last few months already, so I'm hopeful we'll get another three years out of it. It certainly seems up to regular use.

Mackenzie Boyle

At last, an umbrella that doesn't feel like a wrestling match!

At last, an umbrella that doesn't feel like a wrestling match! It's kept the rain off during all these wet days. I can see the pavement past the edge and keep it steady while walking, rather than waving it about and bumping everyone nearby. Makes going out in the rain a lot less awkward.

Todd Schultz

KARMA!

I spotted this in a giveaway and tried my luck, no win, but I still wanted it. Went looking all over for the Cream White one, everywhere I could think of! This wasn't the cheapest option I found, but paying a bit extra seemed better than a long wait and missing the rainy season, so that was how I made my choice. I love the umbrella, although getting it back into the sleeve is a struggle sometimes. I'd told myself I wasn't buying another awkward umbrella, then at Christmas I got a parasol that needs ten times as much effort to open and shut! KARMA!

Riley Costa

I'm pleased with what I bought.

My grandson could hardly wait to try out his umbrella. It feels nicely put together and he finds it comfortable to carry. For him having his own umbrella is a big event, not just something for a wet day. He's very proud of it and already wants his friends to have a look. I'm pleased with what I bought.

Tabitha Castillo

Replacing it with the same sort was an easy decision.

The one I had before this stayed decent through five years of use, right up until I left it behind somewhere. Replacing it with the same sort was an easy decision. Walking between tall buildings in San Francisco and Manhattan is a decent test for an umbrella, and mine coped with the gusts I encountered without becoming something I dreaded carrying. What I notice most with the new one is how readily the drops come off when I give it a shake. With the older one I had got into the habit of leaving it open outside its sleeve for a while to dry, which is sensible anyway. You gradually forget how convenient a fresh canopy is until you're using one again. I'll still let this dry before putting it away, but there's much less water left hanging on it. Hopefully I remember to keep it clean as it gets older.

Luke Garner

The umbrella is excellent.

The umbrella is excellent. Ours gets used for shade near the equator and we've been very pleased. It feels sturdily made, not flimsy like one review suggested. This is a compact model, of course, so expecting the same size as a big umbrella doesn't make much sense.

Gwendolyn Graves

Worth the money.

Rain usually means wind here too, which is hard on umbrellas, but this one has coped nicely. And drivers act as though they've never seen a wet road before, so I keep an eye round the edges. The cream white colour cheers me up even when the weather is miserable. Worth the money.

Devin Barajas

Thanks.

Working outdoors means I need an umbrella that is more than just something to look nice. I wanted a decent amount of cover but also something I could pack away easily. My old large golf umbrella was awkward to carry around, especially once the wind got up. I started taking this one with me in the fall as the weather turned wetter and have been very please with it. It has handled the rain I've had, feels reassuringly sturdy and I particularly like being able to open it quickly. Thanks.

Juan Phillips

It's been great.

Michigan weather can change its mind pretty quickly & this is the umbrella I keep coming back to. I've used it for years now, for work and all the usual running around. Rainy walks, getting to the car, just about everywhere. It has been dependable and that's what I need. The folded size is handy because it goes in my work bags or into the storage space inside my car door. Since the first one I've bought a few more & put them in stratagic spots around the house and in the bags I use for my different jobs. That way I am not moving the same umbrella from bag to bag and forgetting it somewhere. It's been great.

Ana Chapman

I travel often, so an umbrella is usually somewhere in my luggage.

Didn't expect to have much to say about an umbrella, yet here I am liking this one rather a lot. I travel often, so an umbrella is usually somewhere in my luggage. This folds down neatly enough to leave in my bag without fuss. Once opened it gives me much more room underneath than the folded shape suggests. That combination really suits me.

Cristina Villarreal

worth it to me for the design.

pretty ordinary umbrella in terms of quality, nothing fancy, but it does the job. the oval handle was the reason i chose it and i'm happy with that part. i wouldn't pick it for a serious storm, but for drizzle and everyday rain it's been fine. worth it to me for the design.

Beverly Poole

Opened nicely and made good shade in the sunshine.

It came a few hours ago so I took it outside to have a look. Opened nicely and made good shade in the sunshine. No clouds, so nothing to say about keeping rain off yet.It looks good and feels substantial in the hand, but not overly heavy. Can't wait for rain (of course I can). I bought an umbrella because I'd rather not get rained on, so that's my bit of sarcasm for today.I may order another beige one for my wife.

Kathryn Boyer

I've got 2 of these umbrella's and can't see a reason to change.

I've got 2 of these umbrella's and can't see a reason to change. I've passed people struggling with turned out umbrellas in wind & rain while mine was still covering me. It isn't a reason to be careless in gusts, but it's reassuring not to be worrying about every rib. Keeping a good hold of it is the main thing for me.

Joel Clarke

I'm training to lead walking tours, so I wanted an umbrella that…

I'm training to lead walking tours, so I wanted an umbrella that wouldn't be awkward to carry between stops. This one folds down neatly, and the open canopy is easy for the group to spot. The button is handy when I am trying to get everyone moving rather than fussing with the umbrella. It hasn't got the reach of a long-handled one, and pushing the shaft down after the canopy shuts takes a fairly firm press. Neither is a deal breaker, but it is worth knowing before buying for this sort of use.

Angela Farrell

Exactly the combination I was looking for.

Exactly the combination I was looking for. I needed something that would fold down for trips without leaving me soaked when those heavy summer showers roll through Georgia. This gives me plenty of cover and is still a sensible size to pack. The cream white finish is an added pleasure, a simple, cheerful change from the dreary umbrellas I've carried before. A very satisfying purchase.

Selena Rollins

It looks fairly plain, but the construction doesn't feel cheap.

I wanted an umbrella that would cover me and the briefcase or file box I carry, rather than leaving the papers sticking out in the rain. This has worked well when I keep the bag close (I'm not trying to shelter a whole office). It looks fairly plain, but the construction doesn't feel cheap. The sleeve isn't anything special and I find putting it back a bit fiddly, though it does the job. For what I paid, it's a sensible umbrella and a useful size without being enormous.

Ann Ewing

my daughter thinks it's brilliant!!

my daughter thinks it's brilliant!! - she brought it back from school and I could see what she meant - lovely looking, but solid too and it keeps her dry :) - she's an art student and her classmates and teachers have all admired it, thank you, we're both so happy with this purchase.

Frederick Barron

A good purchase for both of us.

I gave my mom one of these for christmas a couple of years back. Rain isn't an everyday thing where we live, but when it comes it can be quite a downpour with wind too. If umbrellas come up when I visit, she still tells me how much she likes this one. Says it feels strong and has been her favorite to use. It's nice knowing something I chose for her actually gets used and appreciated. A good purchase for both of us.

Lee Sweeney

Exactly what I was hoping for!

Walking to work is something I enjoy on a nice day, but being out in the sun for the whole walk was starting to bother me. My ordinary umbrella was useful for rain and I wanted something I'd enjoy carrying for shade as well. After looking around I settled on this one, and I'm so glad! Having that shade above me makes the walk feel much more comfortable, especially compared with having nothing over my head. I wouldn't use an umbrella as my only sun protection, but it has made a noticeable difference to how pleasant the walk is. It's a very pretty umbrella too, with a neat finish rather than lots of fussy details. Folded down it goes into my handbag, then gives a surprisingly wide patch of shade when opened. Exactly what I was hoping for!

Courtney Carey

Strong without being as heavy as I thought.

Feels better made than I was expecting for the money. There are lots of folding umbrellas to choose from, but I'm glad I went with this one. Strong without being as heavy as I thought. I have use mine in rain now and it held up nicely. Would certainly suggest giving it a try :)

Travis Adkins

The button is easy to use and it opens smoothly.

I chose the beige one for my husband and it feels like a properly made umbrella. He's a teacher and usually has papers and bags with him, so the cover matters more than how tiny it folds. This gives him room to keep those tucked in out of the rain. The button is easy to use and it opens smoothly. We've been happy with it so far, and the frame feels reassuring rather than flimsy. I can't say how it will look after years of use yet, but nothing about it has worried us. I'll add more if that changes, for now it's been a good choice.

Preston Dorsey

Otherwise I'm very happy with it.

Such a pretty umbrella and the simple style really suits me. It has kept its shape well on breezy, rainy days. The button is handy for opening it and drawing the canopy shut, though putting it fully away still takes both hands. Pressing the shaft back in is the awkward part when I'm at the car with other things to carry. Otherwise I'm very happy with it.

Margaret Ballard

The blue is nice too and the frame feels solid.

My son and I got soaked when my old umbrella turned inside out in a downpour, so I went looking for something easier to carry that would still cover me with him in my arms. This opens out much wider than it looks folded up, and there's enough room to keep us both under it. It packs away without much fuss for the coverage you get. The blue is nice too and the frame feels solid. Almost hoping for another shower now!

Cheryl Meza

I suspect the latter.

I came away from unpacking this more irritated with the packaging than interested in the umbrella, which is not quite the reaction you hope for. Its not that anything arrived damaged, or that the umbrella needed rescuing...there was simply more outer packing to deal with than I wanted. At first I thought, well, it's an umbrella, surely getting it out and putting it away ought to be the uncomplicated part. And it was, once I stopped looking at the box and plastic as anything to keep. The annoyance was the unpacking, not some hidden problem with the umbrella. To be accurate, I don't count the carry sleeve as unnecessary wrapping. That has a purpose afterwards, and I kept it. The bag around it, and the box around that, were what made the whole thing feel a bit much to me. Perhaps that distinction matters only to people who get annoyed by this sort of thing, but, well, I do. Interestingly, with everything laid out, the sleeve was the one part of the packaging I actually wanted back with the umbrella. The rest was soon out of the way, and that settled the issue. No struggle with the actual product, no continuing annoyance once it was unpacked. Now, whether everyone finds this amount of packing excessive, or whether most people just open the box and never give it another thought, I couldn't tell you. I suspect the latter. It still coloured my first impression more than it probably should have. If you're like me, separate out the sleeve and get the outer wrapping out of sight; that was enough in my case. BTW, the Cream White is a soft-looking colour, not a bright white, which suits it. The umbrella opens neatly with a press, and the canopy closes by button too. I pushed the stem back in afterwards and slipped it into its sleeve. All perfectly satisfactory, once past the packaging.

Mckenzie Melton

Not the most compact option, but it suits me somewhere between…

Not the most compact option, but it suits me somewhere between "barely enough shelter to be worth carrying and big enough to bring along to a sword fight". There's enough room underneath for a fairly big guy and his bag, yet it will go in a roomy backpack or strap onto a messenger bag.Build feels sound, has coped with windy days alright, good stitching and fairly thick material, with opening and closing that feels smooth.

Sean Castaneda

It shelters me and my bag comfortably

The amount of cover surprised me--folded up, I'd taken it for one of those little umbrellas that barely shelters your shoulders. Open, it's a proper everyday size, and feels slightly excessive for a few drops. I would rather that than arrive wet, though, especially when I've got my laptop along. It shelters me and my bag comfortably; sharing would be more of a squeeze than something I'd plan on doing regularly. The oval handle gives me a secure grip, and both the material and shaft feel reassuring rather than flimsy. A month isn't much of a durability test, but so far I have no concerns. There is some weight to it, so anyone wanting the lightest possible thing to forget about in a bag might choose differently. Once the canopy has closed with the button, I shorten the shaft manually and put the wrapped umbrella into its sleeve. That leaves a reasonably tidy bundle instead of loose fabric flapping about. For me it's a good balance: enough shelter to be useful, but no long stick to carry once the weather clears. I'm glad I chose it. Recommended if staying dry matters more than saving every bit of bag space. If your ideal umbrella is something so tiny you can pretend you haven't brought one, probably look for something smaller.

Maxwell Boyer

Plenty of room for me underneath without it being huge.

On our daily walks with the baby, having an umbrella I can open one-handed makes a difference. There is a bit more weight to carry than with my usual one, but I don't mind that for the convenience. Plenty of room for me underneath without it being huge. It has been straightforward to use and I'm glad I chose it.

Ethan Hines

Received it in good condition.

Received it in good condition. The last part of folding needs a stronger push than I first thought. The canopy comes down with the button, then the rod is compressed manually. The finish around the sliding sections looks neat and clean, and overall I am satisfied with how it is put together.

Eileen Michael

Exactly the kind of umbrella I wanted without spending much.

Exactly the kind of umbrella I wanted without spending much. The quality feels better than the price led me to expect. It's a cheerful green, and the box it arrived in was comically big compared with the folded umbrella. Once open there's room for me and my bag underneath, but it packs down afterwards rather than staying full length. I hold it high enough to see where I'm walking, so I'm not blundering into people. Still have to mind the edges around other walkers, of course. Overall I'm delighted with what I got.

Kerry Simmons

The beige is lovely

The stitching and edges on this umbrella look neat, and the frame feels substantial without making it awkward to carry. The beige is lovely; quiet and attractive rather than loud. It folds to roughly 40cm, which fits my larger handbag, though certainly not my little purse. Opened out, the canopy is a useful size for rain or a patch of shade. I appreciate being able to use the same umbrella for both, rather than needing something different when the sun comes out. Up to now I'm delighted with how it looks and feels!
