Rain was forecast for our day trips so I ordered it online.

This was for my 6 year old granddaughter during her summer visit. Rain was forecast for our day trips so I ordered it online. Black is her favourite colour so it seemed right. She can manage the button and I help her put it away afterwards, she is so delighted with having her own umbrella

One of the more solid umbrellas I've owned.

One of the more solid umbrellas I've owned. I've gone through plenty of cheap ones that didn't cope with the weather or being knocked about in the car. This one has flexible ribs and the fittings feel substantial, not flimsy. The fabric seems good too. Would certainly recommend it.

Larry Fletcher

Good value, definitely good value, and something I would recommend.

Arrived at school and realised an umbrella was one thing I hadn't brought. Had a look online and decided on this one, and I'm glad I did. It has been out with me quite a lot this semester, through rain and some blustery walks across campus, and I've had no trouble with it. A decent size when open but easy enough to put away in my bag afterwards. Good value, definitely good value, and something I would recommend.

The umbrella has been working without any trouble.

Just remember that pressing the button to close it folds the canopy, it doesn't shorten the whole umbrella. . . To put it away, you still need to compress the telescoping section by hand, then fit it in the sleeve. Once that is done it is ready for the next opening with the button. The umbrella has been working without any trouble.

She liked the beige straight away.

This was a Christmas present for my gr/daughter and she couldn't wait to try it, even inside the house that morning. She liked the beige straight away. She needs cover for walking to classes with all her bags, and the size looked useful for that. The button made opening and closing the canopy easy, which she was pleased about too.

Got mine in Chicago ten summers back and I use it each rain season…

Got mine in Chicago ten summers back and I use it each rain season in New York. The handle is comfortable for my hand, and the frame does good in wind as well as rain. I like most that it folds small enough for a woman's bag but opens with good space. I would gladly get one for every family member, it has been such a useful umbrella for me through all these years of rainy weather.

Steve Norman

a final push by hand shortens the shaft.

Keeps the rain off my head, which is the main qualification I require of an umbrella. The same button opens it and closes the canopy; a final push by hand shortens the shaft. It takes up little space once folded but gives a respectable amount of cover. My only quibble is that I prefer holding it in my right hand, even when my left is free. I cannot offer any useful engineering explanation for that. Switching hands has proved possible, so I shall probably survive.

More likely I'll forget one in a taxi than wear it out.

why keep spending a few dollars on umbrella's that barely make it through a fortnight. I've got a couple of these around for rainy days in NY and they've held up nicely. More likely I'll forget one in a taxi than wear it out. The push button is handy with one hand busy, and there's a decent spread from something that folds this small.

Brandi Ortiz

Easy to carry around and does a good job in the rain.

Easy to carry around and does a good job in the rain. I like it overall. The size when open is decent for something that folds away, though I had pictured a little more room from the description. It's fine for me on my own, with enough cover that I'm not hunching my shoulders in. Two of us waiting for a bus would be a different story-- you would have to squeeze and someone would still get wet. For sharing, I would want a bigger umbrella.

Andres Beasley

Good quality for the price.

We spotted this in a catalogue and decided to compare prices online before buying. Glad we did, as we paid less and the umbrella is every bit as nice as we'd hoped. Good quality for the price. It's encouraged me to check around instead of just buying the first one I see. On to the next thing on my shopping list!

Clinton Lambert

This certainly does.

I needed a replacement for my old umbrella and wanted something that felt more substantial. This certainly does. I haven't taken it out on a really windy wet day yet, so I can't judge that, but the frame gives a reassuring impression. There are a few compromises - the button closes the canopy, not the whole umbrella;you still need to compress the telescoping shaft yourself. Also the oval handle isn't quite the shape I find most comfortable when holding it for a long time. Lastly it has more weight to it than the little umbrella I used before. None of that stops it being useful, but a bit less bulk would have made it closer to ideal for me.

SO looking forward to that.....

Finding a housewarming present for my neighbors had me stuck for ages, but this umbrella seems just right. Feels well made and even nicer in person than I expected. Practical for rainy days as well, not just something pretty to look at. They're going to be thrilled when they open it. SO looking forward to that.....

Can't wait for her to see it on her birthday!!

An umbrella made the very short birthday list from my nearly four year old. The pink caught my eye and it looks just as sweet in person. It feels like a proper umbrella rather than a toy, so I'll be helping her with it. There is plenty of cover for her and it seems nicely put together. Can't wait for her to see it on her birthday!!

Grace Walter

We can squeeze underneath together if we need to.

My wife tends to misplace umbrellas, so I wanted one she could actually keep in her bag. This folds down enough for that without leaving her short of cover once it's up. We can squeeze underneath together if we need to. It's had a few months of use now, including some pretty unpleasant rain, and we've been really pleased with how it has held up. Money well spent!

Been after an umbrella like this for ages .

Been after an umbrella like this for ages . . . saw something similar while out shopping and the price put me right off so i kept looking . . . finally found this one for less and couldn't be happier with it . . . feels like my long search actually paid off . .

Handles our messy northeastern rain just fine!

Handles our messy northeastern rain just fine! lol. Good value & pretty much what I was hoping for. Had a little dusty coating when I unpacked it, but it didn't smell funny or leave marks and a quick wipe sorted that out. :) Nothing to fuss over. Happy to keep using this one.

Finally had a chance to take this out on a bright, breezy day.

Finally had a chance to take this out on a bright, breezy day. Opened up, it gives me comfortable shade and there is room for someone to tuck in close, though it is still a compact umbrella. There are plenty of flexible ribs supporting the fabric and it felt steady in my hand. A bit of pull as we walked, but nothing that made it hard to hold. The green is a pleasant colour, simple rather than busy.Nice looking and practical, and it doesn't take up much space once it's folded.

My son is moving somewhere with a lot of wind and rain.

My son is moving somewhere with a lot of wind and rain. A friend who uses one of these suggested it, and the construction looks reassuring. He'd have preferred a larger umbrella, but this one folds down neatly for packing. Once open there's enough cover for him, so the smaller carrying size seems a sensible compromise.

Derek Mora

The loop handle feels a bit small in my hand though.

Its put together nicely... The loop handle feels a bit small in my hand though. Not the easiest grip for me . also the overall look is plainer than I expected... Nothing actually wrong with it, I just thought it would have a bit more personality. The useful part is it folds down small enough that I can carry it around easily.

Kathleen Page

Handle feels a good size in the hand too

More of a medium compact to my mind, not one of the really tiny ones. Goes into my shoulder bag or rucksack with a little sticking out at the top. Spent ages looking before choosing it, Been pleased with how it handles breezy rain and the canopy gives decent cover.Handle feels a good size in the hand too

Solid umbrella, the frame and material both feel good.

Solid umbrella, the frame and material both feel good. No trouble with it so far, although the rain where I live hasn't given it a severe test. Bigger open than I pictured for something that folds up. I'm about 5'10" and reasonably fit, but I still notice the weight on a longer walk. I wanted room for another person when needed, and two can manage if we stay close together. About 105cm across is a comfortable size for me alone. At roughly 390g it's not a featherweight, but I'm happy with that tradeoff for a well built umbrella.

Took the black one to Alaska knowing rain was likely.

Took the black one to Alaska knowing rain was likely. It worked well, with enough cover to keep me dry and not much weight to lug around. The button makes it quick to put up, but after the canopy closes you do need to push the telescoping section down yourself. That's the bit I found less convenient, hence 4 stars-- not a fault, just another step. Black also wasn't much help for my group to spot me in a crowd!

Belinda Decker

It serves for rain as well.

My wife carries this when she plays golf in southwest Florida during the summer. The shade makes a real difference to how comfortable she feels out there; being in direct sun the whole time is just too much. It isn't an enormous golf umbrella, but for something she can carry it gives useful coverage. The frame feels substantial, and the one-handed opening saves a little fuss whenever she wants some shade. I'd recommend it for anyone wanting portable cover rather than standing in full sun all day. It serves for rain as well.

I know everyday things come in more and more versions now.

I know everyday things come in more and more versions now. My girlfriend cares about how things look, and she loved this umbrella. The cream white is attractive, it opens to a useful size and it looks nicely finished. Overall, I think it's a good choice if you want something that works well without giving up a nice appearance.

Darin Ho

The important bit---it stood up to the wind!

Only had this a week, but the wet, breezy weekend gave me a good chance to try it properly. Nice looking, substantial in the hand, and the construction seems good. I hadn't expected quite such a big bundle when folded, though I'm adjusting to that. The important bit---it stood up to the wind! Crossing a parking lot today I saw another person's umbrella flip right over as a gust came through. This one kept its shape, and the other umbrella wound up in a trash can. That was a pretty convincing first test for me.

Jon Strong

Frame feels solid and the handle gives me a proper grip....

Usually, the colours catch your eye first, but I look at how an umbrella is supported underneath. This one has some BODY!!! The size / foldability is the thing... enough canopy when it's opened, still manageable when you put it away. Not pretending it is a tiny pocket umbrella, that isn't what I wanted anyway. Frame feels solid and the handle gives me a proper grip....For carrying around the city and dealing with regular rain, yes, this works for me. A useful compact umbrella, just my thoughts on it

Melody Mcknight

She is delighted.

My 70 year old mother gets so fed up with umbrellas flipping over, so I chose this one for her. She is delighted. It feels sturdy without being a nuisance to carry, and the pink makes her easy to spot in a crowd. There is room for us to huddle underneath at outdoor soccer games too. We stand where we're not blocking anyone else's view, and it has kept us both dry.

Nicolas Michael

So far this feels worth the extra.

The frame feels solid, although you do notice the weight when carrying it around. I can put up with that if it means I am not replacing it after a few wet months. Out in the rain last week, with the wind picking up, I felt properly sheltered and didn't have to wrestle with it. It cost a little more than I had planned, but I've spent similar money on much flimsier umbrellas before. So far this feels worth the extra.

Gabriella Stafford

My seven year old daughter received this at Christmas.

My seven year old daughter received this at Christmas. It's a little bigger in her hands than I had pictured. I'd say it suits an older child better if they're carrying it themselves. VERY pretty though, and she is determined to take it out whenever there's rain. She loves it!

Tami Adkins

A very nice umbrella, I'd recommend it!

We still walk to school in the rain, and I wanted my 2 year old daughter to have her own umbrella.I got umbrellas for my sons too, so could compare them side by side. This one feels more substantial than the others, and I like the shape of the canopy when it's up. It gives her plenty of cover when we're walking, which is the main thing. There are lots of ribs underneath, which looks reassuring compared to the simpler ones the boys have. I handle the button and help her hold it, she's only little and I wouldn't leave her to mess with it alone. We've only done one rainy walk of about 10 minutes, so I can't say much about how long it'll last. She stayed nice and dry and was very proud of having her own umbrella. It goes up on a high shelf when we're home, not in with the toys. Hoping that way we'll get plenty of use from it. A very nice umbrella, I'd recommend it!

Mandy Noble

The pink looks really cute and she likes the loop handle.

This was for my five year old daughter and she was so excited to get it. The pink looks really cute and she likes the loop handle. I wasn't sure how sturdy a folding one would feel, but it seems well made. She's been carrying it around indoors for days and opening it up to show us, with no trouble so far.

Dylan Gamble

This one feels worth keeping.

Most cheap folding umbrellas feel disposable to me. This one feels worth keeping. It goes in my backpack and stays there until I walk out into rain because, once again, I couldn't be bothered checking the forecast. It's a compact umbrella, not a roof; in sideways rain your trousers can still get damp, but at least you aren't taking up the entire pavement. Mine has had occasional use for around three years and is still going, though we don't get endless rainy days here. It's chunkier than the really tiny ones, which is the trade-off. I'd keep another in a different bag rather than constantly moving this around (that's a convenience thing, not a sales pitch).

At least there's a little blue in all this grey weather eh?

At least there's a little blue in all this grey weather eh?Anyway, the thing I wanted to know before using this was whether I'd be wrestling it open myself or just pressing a button. I liked the look of it, but couldn't quite work that part out from the pictures. Having tried it, yes, it opens on the button, and rather promptly too. That was the main thing I was hoping for so I'm happy. The end isn't something I'd lean on like a walking stick. I tend to put umbrella tips against the pavement without thinking, so that is more a reminder to myself than anything wrong with this one. Otherwise, what do I need? A decent umbrella, a colour I like and not a huge thing to lug about. Then there is the handle. It's an oval loop, not the usual open hook, which looked a little odd to me at first but is comfortable enough in my hand. I'm probably not the best judge of sensible umbrella handling as I do occasionally get the urge to wave one about like a fencing foil. The sleeve keeps this one neatly packed away when I'm not using it, so perhaps that will discourage me. Still, better used against rain than imaginary opponents.

For sunny days I can recommend this umbrella.

For sunny days I can recommend this umbrella. I use one for shade through the summer and this does that job nicely. It looks quite simple, so I don't feel odd carrying it when there's no rain. Living somewhere very hot, a bit of shade makes a difference. I'm pleased with it and would recommend it. Thank you.

Carly Jarvis

Bigger than I had pictured!

Bigger than I had pictured! Mostly it's the folded length that surprised me. I probably ought to have looked at the size properly before ordering (my own fault)! The construction feels good though, and the closed loop gives me a secure grip. Not much trouble to carry, either.

Carla Mathews

Keeps us dry and the button opening is straightforward.

Keeps us dry and the button opening is straightforward. It seems solid, though a little more weight in the hand than I'd like. There's enough room for a friend to tuck in close. After two years I'm still using it happily, and I'd consider another when the time comes to replace it.

Claire Valencia

For the price, I've had my money's worth.

More than a year of wet, breezy days and fairly careless handling, and mine is still useful. I don't baby umbrellas, so that counts for something. It is bulkier in my bag than I would ideally like, which costs it a star. Even so, I'd rather have this than a flimsy cheap one. For the price, I've had my money's worth.

Cristina Mayer

It came promptly and feels well made.

I needed to replace my old umbrella after it broke and was surprised how much some of the similar ones cost. This one seemed a better buy, so I went ahead and ordered it. It came promptly and feels well made. Mostly I use it for shade while I watch my daughter playing soccer, and it has handled the Oklahoma wind we've had so far. I'm very happy with what I paid and with how the umbrella is holding up.

Anita Summers

Took it along to England and it handled the rain well...

Some of the less happy comments made me wonder, but I decided to give it a go and it's been a very good umbrella so far. Took it along to England and it handled the rain well...even had a couple of people ask about it! True , it's not as small as the one I used before , but it goes in my little backpack. There's a sleeve to keep it tidy, just take a moment to wrap the fabric properly or it's a squeeze getting it in. I'd recommend it if you're after something solid that isn't a full length umbrella to lug around.

Jessica Cowan

I've had good luck with these over the years.

I've had good luck with these over the years. For everyday use they hold up well, including the sort of wind you get on a normal rainy walk---mine hasn't flipped. A few years of use seems reasonable with some care. It's an umbrella though, not a weather shield; I wouldn't take it out in a serious storm.

Stuart Washington

For an everyday umbrella to leave handy, I'd certainly recommend it.

Keeping this in the car has already proved useful more than once. There's enough cover for me and someone standing close beside me, but it folds away easily in the trunk. I've been caught by sudden rain before and appreciate not having to think about packing an umbrella every time. It feels like good value, too. The ones I looked at in a local shop cost quite a bit more. For an everyday umbrella to leave handy, I'd certainly recommend it.

Wendy Garner

This one is a good middle ground for living in the city.

I wanted an umbrella that could cope with wet, windy walks without having to carry one of those enormous golf things. This one is a good middle ground for living in the city. I've had it out along the pier when the rain was coming sideways, wearing my rain jacket with the hood up as well. You still have to pay attention to where you point it, and I used both hands when it got breezy. It stayed open and kept the worst of the rain off my face. I wouldn't treat any handheld umbrella as storm equipment, but for the rainy walks I actually take, this has become the one I reach for.

Tracey Wolfe

It's been fine for the usual rain on a short walk.

The button works nicely, one press brings the umbrella up and another folds the canopy away. Much less fuss when getting into the car. It's been fine for the usual rain on a short walk. In a really heavy downpour, though, rain coming in at an angle still catches my legs and the edges of my clothes. Useful umbrella, just don't expect complete shelter in that sort of weather.

Jimmy Sanchez

For an everyday umbrella this has been a very good buy.

My old umbrella wore out around the hinges; in the mean time I thought I'd try this one. It feels a lot sturdier, packs down smaller (I leave it in the car), and cost less...!. For an everyday umbrella this has been a very good buy. I would certainly recommend it.

Chelsea Cisneros

Thank you, useful little umbrella!

Sideways rain in the city makes most umbrellas more trouble than they're worth. This black one has held up to the gusts I've used it in, and I can tuck my purse against me and keep that covered too. Not the smallest thing in my train bag, but the coverage is worth the room it takes. Even when the rain shifts around I don't end up soaked. Thank you, useful little umbrella!

Sydney Wallace

The button makes opening it very easy.

Little umbrellas usually leave my shoulders wet, so the amount of cover here was a nice surprise! The button makes opening it very easy. ( closing the canopy is a bit sudden though)I chose cream white. It's softer looking than I expected from the picture, which I like. Maybe having one I actually enjoy looking at will stop me forgetting it somewhere...it certainly makes heading out in the rain a little more cheerful!

Jon Hale

Works well, does what I need.

Works well, does what I need. I live and work in Manhattan and was fed up with trying to pass other umbrellas on narrow pavements, so i wanted something less awkward to carry. This one gives me lots of room on my own, though sharing it means staying pretty close together. At roughly 105cm across when open it's still not tiny, even if it folds away afterwards. I wouldn't want to go much smaller and lose the coverage. Worth checking the open size rather than just how compact it looks folded. Overall, i like it!

Shelly Paul

Funny how much the kids like a plain beige umbrella!

Funny how much the kids like a plain beige umbrella! They both want a turn carrying it. From behind you mostly see little feet under the canopy, which always makes me smile! The button is handy, though I do the opening for them. Grandma bought the first one for our oldest and we got another for the younger one later. Still being used, and the fabric has kept its color pretty well.

Jennifer Rojas

The green went down very well!

Bought two as Christmas gifts for our granddaughters and both were delighted! They were twirling about by the tree with their new green umbrellas. Rain the following day was apparently the best thing that could happen, because out came their presents straight away. We grown ups liked seeing them nicely covered, and the button made putting the umbrellas up easy with us there to help. The green went down very well!

Lindsey Yu

After decades of service my old umbrella is finally wearing out.

After decades of service my old umbrella is finally wearing out. This replacement has worked well so far and folds considerably shorter than the old golf-sized one.. It goes in my carry bag, which makes taking it along much easier. A much more convenient size for me.
