Now I have it, I like the umbrella

The umbrella is good, I bought it because in Caracas the rain season can be a lot, and the size is right for me. Only complain was the waiting, it took three weeks to arrive and I was expecting sooner, so that part was not so good. Now I have it, I like the umbrella

Handy shade to hold beside a child's picnic table!

Handy shade to hold beside a child's picnic table! We bring it indoors after we're finished, so it isn't left out in all the weather. Folded up it goes in the coat closet easily, which is useful when there isn't much storage space. Nice to have ready for sunny afternoons! One thing I'd watch is how much you're paying. I like it for occasional use, but wouldn't spend a great deal just for shade at the table. Happy with it overall!

Yes, I'm buying the SAME umbrella again.

Yes, I'm buying the SAME umbrella again. Nothing wrong with the last one at all. What happened? Someone decided they liked it enough to walk off with it. People still do that, apparently. lol.I was annoyed about losing it but not about the umbrella, that part had been great. So here I am getting another, because finding something you actually enjoy using isn't always easy. Happy with this purchas too and hoping this one stays with me!!

I was doubtful about the oval handle at first.

I have always had a soft spot for old fashioned umbrellas. My grandmother had a black one that I carried for years, until there really wasn't any life left in it. I've been trying to find something I liked as much ever since. Looked all over! This one isn't the same old fashioned shape, being a folding umbrella, but I liked the plain black and decided to try it.The construction is much better than I was expecting. Lots of ribs, and they don't have that spindly feeling that puts me off some folding umbrellas. I was doubtful about the oval handle at first. I'm used to a long handle, but this is quite easy to get hold of and doesn't have that slippery feel I dislike.I miss some of the character of the old umbrella. Still, there is something nice about a plain black umbrella without anything fancy on it, and this one is easier to carry when it's not raining. My only real wish would be a little more of that traditional shape. For actual use, though, I'm delighted.

One relieved parent = me!

My son had an umbrella like this and we managed to leave it in a shopping cart. Never got it back, so a replacement was needed. Couldn't find another locally and then spotted this one online. Came neatly packed and looks just right, so we're back in business. One relieved parent = me!

For what I paid, I'm very impressed.

For what I paid, I'm very impressed. Everything feels properly put together and the opening works smoothly. Main thing is we stay dry underneath it, with enough space to stand close without practically climbing over one another. That's really all I wanted from an umbrella.

Arthur Knight

Such a pretty umbrella!

Such a pretty umbrella! It's almost enough to make me wish for rain so I have an excuse to take it out. The opening action has quite a spring to it, so keep a proper hold and leave some space around you before pressing the button. The frame, fabric and grip all feel substantial when you look them over. We haven't had much wet weather since it arrived, so at this point I can only say it seems well made, not how long it'll keep going. There is a sleeve with it, which is useful while I manage not to lose it. I'm forever putting those things somewhere and forgetting them. It looks nice enough that I'd happily give one as a gift.Update: Coming up to two years of owning this now. Still looks lovely and the button action hasn't lost its snap. It's been out in some very heavy rain over that time and continues to keep me dry. The material and frame are holding up very nicely. Money well spent!

Pretty pink umbrellas, and they seem solid.

Pretty pink umbrellas, and they seem solid. Not tried them in strong wind yet. CONS: I'd prefer the pink on the inside too, instead of black underneath. Had gifts in mind and would have liked a lighter look when someone opens one up. Otherwise they seem a nice choice.

The size is just what I wanted, now waiting for some proper rain.

The size is just what I wanted, now waiting for some proper rain. Saw a folding umbrella being carried and thought I should have one too,Beige looks nice without being flashy. I will need to angle it so I can see around me - something I think matters these days

The canopy kept the rain off me just fine.

Shade for some much delayed fence repairs was my main reason for buying this. Gray appealed to me because I wasn't after anything loud or brightly coloured. I secured it to a fence post using a bungee I had and shifted it along as I worked, which gave me a shaded spot without much fuss. It covered where I was standing, and that was all I needed while sorting out each section. Here in Florida an afternoon outside usually includes a summer shower, and I ended up using it the usual way as well. The canopy kept the rain off me just fine. Having used it for both jobs now, I think it is nicely put together and worth what I paid.

I've taken this out twice and it does keep me dry.

I've taken this out twice and it does keep me dry. Closing it takes more effort than I like, especially shortening it after the canopy has shut. It feels ok but I can't say much about how long it will last yet. I'll keep using it and see how it gets through the season.

Seems plenty solid for a Hawaiian winter (Rain with wind mixed in).

Seems plenty solid for a Hawaiian winter (Rain with wind mixed in). I really should have checked the dimensions though, as it's MUCH more compact than I pictured. Works well for one person. I'll probably let my husband have this and look for something bigger for myself.

Valerie Bautista

Solidly built, and looks good too.

This got its first real workout in a sudden bout of freezing rain. A coworker watched me leaning into the gusts on the way into the building. It felt as though my arm was getting more of a workout than the umbrella was. Nothing gave way and I got inside dry. Solidly built, and looks good too.

I'm pleased to have her gift sorted.

My mother-in-law specifically wanted cream white, so I paid attention to the color when choosing her Christmas present. She doesn't care for dark shades or busy patterns. This has the simple look she asked for along with automatic opening, and I think she'll be delighted. I'm pleased to have her gift sorted.

I really didn't want a different umbrella after that.

The first one was a gift from my boyfriend on a miserable, wet day at an art gallery. We had both been fed up with the wind and rain, and I'd gone to warm my hands in the ladies room. When I came back out he was holding this lovely cream white umbrella for me. I was so touched, he got a kiss straight away! It became my favourite thing to take out when the weather looked doubtful. People would stop and tell me how pretty it was, which always made me smile. I even found myself hoping for a shower so I could use it. There was enough shelter for us to walk close together underneath without feeling like I had to hog all the cover. Then he lost it, and despite looking we never found it again. I really didn't want a different umbrella after that. Ordering another seemed much better than going all the way back to the gallery. Can't wait to have my favourite back!

This one has a solid feel and has behaved well so far.

My old cheap umbrellas were fine when I lived in Atlanta. Since moving to Sacramento I have needed something a little sturdier, as the wind was turning those inside out. This one has a solid feel and has behaved well so far. We haven't had the really rough weather yet, so I can't claim to have put it through that test. I'll try to update when we get another big windy storm...the last one had trees coming down and everything. For the rain and wind I've actually used it in, I'm satisfied with it....

The handle looked useful for carrying, which is why I chose this.

The handle looked useful for carrying, which is why I chose this. My previous umbrella had started fading and wasn't easy to open or shut anymore. This one comes with a sleeve, and I'm very pleased with the subdued blue and how smoothly it opens and closes. There is a noticeable smell from the material though, worth keeping in mind if smells tend to bother you.

Tricia Gay

It hasn't spoiled how pleased I am with it.

Still waiting for a rainy day to take this out. It arrived really quickly, I think it was only a day, which was a nice surprise. The construction looks very good and the design is lovely, simple but really cute. I noticed a slightly chemical smell when I first opened it, but I expect some airing will sort that out. It hasn't spoiled how pleased I am with it.

Kerry Blackwell

Was great for shade!

Took this along to the Renaissance Fair. Was great for shade! It looked nice too and made being out in the sunshine more comfortable. Getting all the fabric tidy and back in its sleeve is a little fiddly. Takes some patience, but it's a small bother compared with how useful it was all day.

Chelsea Whitaker

She's pleased with hers.

My gray one ended up being borrowed by my mom, and she was impressed by how solid it was. The button action and the feel of the loop handle were things she mentioned, so I ordered one for her as well. She's pleased with hers. There is a sleeve included. Mine goes in my purse without much trouble - heavier than the really tiny umbrellas, yes, but it feels like a sturdier umbrella too.

Craig Prince

Otherwise it's been a good umbrella for her.

My nine year old uses this while waiting at the bus stop in the rain. She likes how it looks and enjoys being able to open it with a button. The canopy feels like decent material and keeps her covered nicely. My only reservation is that shortening the shaft afterwards needs a bit more push than she can manage, so I help her with that part. Otherwise it's been a good umbrella for her.

Kaylee Mckay

A lovely umbrella for everyday use.

I like how the handle sits in my hand. The oval loop gives it an unusual look without being awkward to hold. It is a closed loop, rather than the usual curved hook. This umbrella springs open when the button is pressed and another press draws the canopy together. You still compress the pole yourself to put it away. It folds into a tidy shape, which I appreciate when carrying it about. The fabric has a nice feel and the ribs underneath look neatly finished.Overall, the black is simple but quite stylish. Nothing busy about the design, which I like, and it looks smart both folded and open. There is a nice attention to the small details. A lovely umbrella for everyday use.

Lawrence Cannon

The canopy material seems good quality.

Had a chance to use it today. I am quite satisfied. The canopy material seems good quality. The centre rod is firm and the ribs look evenly fitted. It behaved well when the wind picked up. For myself a slightly longer rod would be preferable, but that is a small thing. In general, a good purchase and good quality for the cost.

Tricia Green

Neither thing stops me using it, the canopy does a very good job.

One star off for the handle:The oval loop is useful for carrying, but it could sit more comfortably in the hand. The rest of the umbrella seems so solid that I notice the handle more than I thought I would.A slightly fuller grip would make a difference. The button could also be a little larger, especially when your hands are wet. Neither thing stops me using it, the canopy does a very good job. I just wish the same attention had gone into how it feels to hold for a while.I mean, that is the bit you are hanging onto the whole time, so it matters.

The proper test will be when I take it on holiday, so I can't say much about rain performance yet. I was a little disappointed by how much space it takes in my bag when folded. Not enough to bother returning it, though, and it feels well made when I open it. I'll work out a better way to pack it and add more once I've actually used it.

Garrett Burch

Going to school downtown means I get caught in all sorts of weather.

Going to school downtown means I get caught in all sorts of weather. The wind between the buildings can be a pain and there's always somebody's mangled umbrella in a bin when it rains. I've used this one on my walks to class and it hasn't turned inside out so far , so thats a win for me !

Leslie Faulkner

A solid little umbrella for everyday showers.

A solid little umbrella for everyday showers. In really heavy rain I'd still want a raincoat as well, especially round my legs. For normal use it's handy and doesn't feel flimsy. It folds down enough for my larger cross body bag, which makes taking it along much less of a bother.

Brandi Farrell

For using as an umbrella I am happy and definetly recommend it.

I bought this about a month ago. It is small when folded so carrying is simple; when open it is big, and the rain doesn't bother me while I walk. The black color is a little plain for my taste, that is my only small reservation. For using as an umbrella I am happy and definetly recommend it.

Gary Frank

I wanted another compact umbrella to keep handy.

I already owned one of these so I knew what I was buying; I wanted another compact umbrella to keep handy. Nothing more irritating than getting caught in rain and having the canopy flip up on you! Mine has kept its shape through the showers and breezes I've used it in. A couple have gone to friends as gifts as well, and they like theirs just as much!

Marc Mercer

The one thing I'd alter is the handle.

My old compact was easy to pack, but I often wished it gave me a bit more coverage. I didn't want to give up carrying an umbrella in my backpack, so there was quite a bit of comparing before I settled on this one. Having used it through several spring showers, I think it was the right choice. Folded up, it takes less length in the bag than my previous umbrella, although it makes quite a chunky bundle. Small enough to pack comfortably, rather than something I'd put in a coat pocket. The fabric feels closely woven, and most of the water comes off with a few shakes, which makes putting it away less of a wet business. The ribs feel substantial without being completely rigid. It's been comfortable to manage in the breezes I've encountered so far. Opening is quick, and another button press shuts the canopy; the telescoping shaft then needs pushing down by hand. Neither button action has given me trouble, and it hasn't opened accidentally while packed. The one thing I'd alter is the handle. I like the closed oval loop, but the gripping area feels a little short for my hand. A bit more room would make it more comfortable to hold for longer stretches. That's a fairly small preference in the scheme of things, though, and doesn't outweigh how pleased I am with the coverage and portability.

A very good option for an event.

For the price I wasn't expecting anything particularly special, but these turned out much nicer than I'd pictured. We wanted umbrellas to offer our wedding guests if it rains, and they look smart enough for that without costing a fortune. There's a decent amount of cover for each person, and they don't feel like something that has to be thrown away after the day. I expect we'll carry on using them ourselves afterwards. Even just for the wedding I would be happy with what we paid. A very good option for an event.

Autumn Duncan

A smart looking umbrella that seems sturdy, especially for the money.

A smart looking umbrella that seems sturdy, especially for the money. It comes with a storage SLEEVE which is a good touch. I can tuck the folded umbrella away neatly instead of having the fabric poking out among everything else in my bag. Just makes it nicer to store. I'd recommend it to a friend and would be happy to buy another as a gift.

Riley Gallagher

Rainy dog walks are much nicer with this umbrella.

Rainy dog walks are much nicer with this umbrella. There's plenty of room over me, and someone else can squeeze alongside if needed. I take the dog out several times each day, and having decent coverage makes a difference. It means we can stay out for a proper walk instead of hurrying home because I'm getting drenched. A good choice for regular walks.

Lydia Lester

One of these has been part of my working day for years now.

One of these has been part of my working day for years now. It originally came to us as a Christmas present, and it turned out to be far more useful than most presents. I walk about a mile and a half to work, so an umbrella gets used rather than sitting in a cupboard. There is enough overhead to shelter me and my backpack on the way there and back. The streets between the taller buildings can get quite gusty, and I still pay attention to which way I hold it rather than expecting any umbrella to do everything. The frame has a reassuring amount of give without feeling flimsy. After so much carrying, what I appreciate most is being able to fold it down and put it away without a struggle. It is not the smallest thing in my bag, but that seems reasonable for the cover it gives me. I'd happily choose the same one again!

Austin Holder

Quite taken with the oval loop handle too.

Beautiful blue, it cheers me up just getting it out - the black underside sets it off nicely. I can wear my backpack under it and stay covered, without lugging something huge around. Quite taken with the oval loop handle too. A quick press makes the canopy spring out or fold away, very smooth. I'd gladly buy another. :)

Lance Ball

Beige makes a nice change.

My 3 year old son saw this umbrella and loved it straight away! The shops near me have lots of cute ones for girls but the boys ones seem so dark and boring. Beige makes a nice change. Arrived quickly too. Would recomend it :)(This is an actual umbrella, not a toy, so I help him with it. Can't judge how durable it is till we've used it more times. Five stars for now anyway).

Mason Browning

The loop handle is a clever idea.

The loop handle is a clever idea. During the first week I had it I found it comfortable to hold, and the button saves some fiddling when opening it. The frame seems solid too. It does cost a bit more then a basic Umbrella. But the ribs look substantial and I think it should wear well. A little weight to carry around, although for something that feels this sturdy I can live with that.

Savannah Stanley

" which was lovely to hear.

I picked this up as a gift & she was delighted. Her reaction was "Oh, I've wanted one of these!" which was lovely to hear. I have one too & enjoy how neatly it packs away, then how attractive it looks opened out. It's not just something to keep for rainy forecasts. I take mine to the bleachers when we're watching games on bright days, for a bit of shade, etc. Very handy to tuck in with everything else & still feel you have something rather pretty as well as practical!

Shelby Lowe

So far I am happy I chose it.

I replaced a slightly bigger umbrella with this and was unsure about the size. There is enough shelter for my dog and I, which was the important part. A press of the button gets it up straight away. Another press gathers the canopy, then I push the shaft down by hand to pack it away. Very straightforward. The handle feels smooth in my hand and doesn't dig in. So far I am happy I chose it. Now hoping it stays with me as long as the old one managed to!

Mikayla Atkinson

Excellent umbrella.

Lost the first one after a year of use, so I ordered another. Excellent umbrella. Tough construction. Still looks smart. One press brings the canopy together when I'm heading indoors; I shorten the shaft manually afterwards. Much easier than wrestling with wet fabric at the door. The open size isn't enormous, but it's good coverage from a compact umbrella.

Lacey Mercado

My reservation is the handle.

I'm a 5'7" woman and wear heels, and this umbrella gives me a comfortable amount of coverage. The shape leaves room for my bags too, rather than having them sticking out in the rain. It has come through some gusty weather without damage and doesn't feel particularly heavy to carry. Two people can fit if they keep close together, although getting through a doorway means shutting it first. My reservation is the handle. It feels much less substantial than the canopy end, and the surface is slippery even while dry. Once it's wet, keeping a good grip takes more effort. I would have preferred something that felt a bit more secure in my hand. The balance also seems to be toward the top, despite the overall weight being manageable, so holding it up is harder on my wrist than carrying it folded.

Alfred Best

Rain, however, it manages very nicely.

If you're hoping for a device that handles every natural disaster, keep looking. This won't save you from an earthquake, a landslide or an approaching tornado. Rain, however, it manages very nicely. Since I was shopping for an umbrella rather than an emergency bunker, that seems a perfectly reasonable result -- five stars for successfully doing the fairly specific thing I needed.

Howard Novak

Really pleased with these umbrellas.

Really pleased with these umbrellas. I've had my first one for about five years and it's had lots of use, so I ordered another two - one to leave in my car and one for my wife's car.For something that folds to around 40cm, the amount of cover is very useful. Keeps me sheltered and we can share it if we stand close together in calmer weather. The green is cheerful without being too much, and people have said nice things about it. A useful size to have around without carrying a long umbrella everywhere.

Brenda Francis

Exactly the sort of everyday umbrella I wanted, and I'd recommend it.

I've been carrying this at college and it strikes a good balance between looking decent and being useful. I needed something that didn't monopolise my backpack or look ridiculous when I pulled it out between classes. Folded up, it fits alongside my books, and open it gives me enough cover to keep the rain off properly. The construction looks straightforward and sturdy, with nothing fussy about it. Exactly the sort of everyday umbrella I wanted, and I'd recommend it.

William Good

My one small gripe is the folded length.

This has a comfortable amount of room for one person, without feeling like I'm carrying a giant umbrella down the street. A press on the button gets it open quickly, which is useful when the rain starts before I'm ready. The blue is a nice colour and the fabric sits neatly over the ribs. I can get the sleeve off and back on without a struggle, and carrying it hasn't been a nuisance. Closing the canopy is straightforward too; then I push the pole in to put it away. It feels solid enough for the rainy weather here in Texas. My one small gripe is the folded length. It still sticks out of my larger handbag and won't sit how I want in my backpack. Apart from that, I'm very happy with it.

Warren Krueger

There's more to this than its good looks, it feels properly made too.

There's more to this than its good looks, it feels properly made too. Lots of cover for one, and two can squeeze beneath it. That green makes a dull wet day seem less dreary.of course, I was always going to like that colour, but the quality makes it worth the money.

Todd Steele

The next was only average quality, not so nice in last month's storm.

I bought one umbrella before which lasted really well, then I lost it sadly. The next was only average quality, not so nice in last month's storm. So I decide I rather spend on a decent one than keep changing them. This umbrella is very comfortable in the hand and the button is convenient, nice design and I really enjoy using it!

Haley Walter

Feels sturdy and opens nicely.

Feels sturdy and opens nicely. I expected the closing button to do a little more though. It folds the canopy, but you then have to shorten the telescoping shaft yourself until it clicks. I understand that is the normal way it works. Still convenient, just an extra hand movement that I hadn't allowed for when reading auto close.

Maureen Collins

if there's even a hint of rain.

My daughter received this for Easter last year and loves having any excuse to use it, esp. if there's even a hint of rain. It doesn't feel cheap, though I wouldn't call it the fanciest umbrella either. The button is a little firm for her to press, which can be annoying when she's keen to open it. Once it's up it works fine and she still reaches for it all the time.
