Easily one of the BEST umbrellas I've had. We had some nasty rain in New York a few days back and it handled the walk really well. I stayed dry and wasn't wrestling with an upside-down canopy- not once- despite the wind. For the rainy stretch ahead, it will be staying in my handbag rather than being left at home. Glad to have a reliable one ready.

A lovely umbrella to use with my little girl.
A lovely umbrella to use with my little girl. She thinks it looks very cute. I handle the button for her as she's only 2.5, and it opens up smoothly without any fiddling about. Quite a generous size for her. She's so pleased with it, and I expect we'll be using it for a good while.

it actually WORKS!!!!!!
We do a lot of walking here, so rain isn't something we can just wait out every time. After a rough storm there are usually discarded umbrellas all over the pavement. Finding one that doesn't feel disposable has been a challenge. This one has kept its shape in the wind we've encountered, and the button gets it open quickly when the rain starts. There's enough cover for us to squeeze together when necessary. Of all the umbrellas we've had over the years, this is the one I actually trust. And yes... it actually WORKS!!!!!!

A useful gift that I was happy to give!
Started with one for a friend who has a dachshund, then ended up ordering two more. One for meand one for another dog loving friend. Nice cover in normal rain, and folds down enough for a roomy handbag. Price was good too. A useful gift that I was happy to give!

The pink umbrella is easy to carry and doesn't take over my bag.
The pink umbrella is easy to carry and doesn't take over my bag. There's a sleeve included, which is useful for keeping it neatly wrapped once it's dry. The loop handle is shorter than what I'm used to, so someone wanting lots of room for their hand might not love it. It suits me fine though, and I'd recommend it.

The blue is a really nice shade.
Arrived when expected. There's enough room under it for me without the fabric feeling right against my face. I'm 5'3" and it gives my shoulders a good amount of cover as well. It opens into a decent sized canopy but isn't awkward for me to carry. The blue is a really nice shade. Looks very pretty.

The blue is lovely and it feels nicely made.
LOVE mine. The blue is lovely and it feels nicely made. Really recommend.Update: Still using my umbrella and still very fond of it, but I wanted to explain which one I mean. The handle on mine is a closed oval loop, and it is a folding model. Looking at the pictures I wasn't sure that was obvious, and I don't want someone expecting a different sort of umbrella because of my review. It isn't a long walking umbrella or a decorative frilly parasol. Mine has the button that opens it and closes the canopy; I push the shaft back down myself afterwards. The outside is blue and the underside is black. That is the version I bought and the one my comments refer to. I can only speak for that one, which has been lovely to use. Just thought I should make that clear :)

My friend is pleased with his too.
Ordered a pair, one to keep and one for a friend. Both arrived neatly packed and looked good when we opened them. The oval handle is a bit different from the usual umbrellas, and a few friends have already commented on them. My friend is pleased with his too.Why four stars rather than five? The sleeve is a snug fit, so I have to spend a little time smoothing the fabric before putting it away. Not a big thing, just not something I can rush. Pressing the button is much quicker, the canopy opens straight out and closes again with another press, then you shorten the pole by hand. Overall a useful umbrella with a bit of personality. Bring on the next shower :)

Umbrellas usually look pretty dull.
Umbrellas usually look pretty dull. This one feels a bit different. And it opens up to a nice useful size, with room to be comfortable underneath. Not a heavy thing to carry either, which surprised me. And a quick press of the button gets it up without a fuss. I like it a lot.

Losing the umbrella I'd kept for years really bothered me.
Losing the umbrella I'd kept for years really bothered me. I'm a dog lover and it had been with me on so many walks, so finding a replacement took me a while. This one appealed to me and I'm glad I chose it. The green is lovely. I took it to a charity dog walk where everyone and their dogs walked around a race track. It turned out to be a very hot day, and I held it over me for shade instead of rain. Its a good umbrella to have along when you spend a lot of time out with the dogs.

The amount of cover was more then I expected, in a good way.
The amount of cover was more then I expected, in a good way. It seems well put together and the loop handle is comfortable, without too much weight to carry. I work outside over the school lunch period and wanted some shade for the top of my head where sunscreen is awkward to put. This does make that time outdoors more comfortable for me. It has been a good purchase so far, and hopefully I'll be using it for a long time yet.
Noah Farley
Good in steady rain when it's fairly calm.
I take this along when I walk my kindergartener to the morning bus. We can both get under it comfortably if we're close together. Good in steady rain when it's fairly calm. With gusts I have to pay more attention to holding it. The frame and fabric seem nicely made.

So far I'd definitely recommend it.
Warm weather has barely started and I'm already struggling with the heat. I spent ages deciding whether to get something more decorative or an umbrella I could actually keep in my purse, and being able to carry this one won. I've had it out on sunny days with a little breeze and I feel noticeably more comfortable standing under it. For just being around the house I might still want a bigger umbrella, but this is much more practical to take with me. I haven't tested it in any serious wind, so can't offer an opinion on that yet. So far I'd definitely recommend it.I suppose the one thing I'd alter is the pink, only because I tend to go for things that look a bit more fancy. It's a plainer look than I usually choose, although not as bright as I had imagined, which I actually prefer. None of that matters much once I'm outside in the sun. It gives me the shade I wanted and I'm glad I bought it.

This has been a good choice for keeping the rain off me.
This has been a good choice for keeping the rain off me. There's a useful amount of cover and it feels substantial without being awkward to carry. The oval loop handle is comfortable to hold. Gray also goes with my team colours, which doesn't hurt. If your really particular, the folded size is bigger than the tiniest bag umbrellas. It still packs down, just don't expect it to take up no space in your bag. I think the extra substance is worth that tradeoff.

Best umbrella I've had, simple as that.
Best umbrella I've had, simple as that. Whoever worked on this design thought about the everyday annoyances and made it practical. Button opening, a proper grip, folds away without a lot of fuss. Nice.It turned up sooner than I was expecting too, which was a good extra surprise.
Christina Snow
she was happy simply being underneath.
Our granddaughter, who is three and a half, was delighted with this Christmas gift. During our visit she wanted it nearby for meals, for bedtime, and outside whether there was any rain or not. We stayed in charge of opening and folding it...she was happy simply being underneath. It's lovely when something so ordinary brings that much enjoyment. Money well spent.

For one average-sized person the coverage is quite sufficient.
After more than eight years with my last umbrella, I finally decided to retire it. It had survived countless wet walks without turning inside out, which is more than can be said for the abandoned ones I regularly pass on the pavement. Opening and closing it was becoming a rather creaky business, though. The handle was showing its age as well, so it seemed a sensible time to replace it with this Haven.
Worth remembering that this is a compact umbrella, not one of those enormous ones. For one average-sized person the coverage is quite sufficient. Two can shelter underneath, provided neither is particularly attached to their personal space. I carry mine in the outside bottle pocket of my backpack rather than inside a bag, and it sits there nicely. That means it comes along whether the forecast looks threatening or not, which has already proved useful.
There is still a larger umbrella at home for occasions when I expect to be sharing, but it isn't something I want sticking out of my backpack every day. This one makes much more sense for that.
I've recommended it to a few people already. The price I paid was also better than the options I'd looked at locally, so there wasn't much deliberation involved. A practical replacement that I'm happy to keep using, and I'd certainly look at Haven again when the time comes.
Luke Lambert
Solid construction, plain appearance, no fiddly business.
For me an umbrella earns its keep by not giving me anything to complain about. I can put this in my backpack, get it open when needed and then forget about it again. Solid construction, plain appearance, no fiddly business. There's nothing particularly exciting to report and I mean that as praise. Does the job without becoming another job. Full marks.

Handy for getting out in the rain.
Ordered this as a gift for a friend and now I'm wishing I'd kept one for myself! I expected a very tiny umbrella because it folds up, but opened out it's about the same coverage as the ones I normally use. Handy for getting out in the rain. My friend was REALLY pleased with it. The beige looked the way it did in the pictures, which was nice, and the whole umbrela has a simple, smart look.

It is a long ceremony and having our own shade should help.
The three gray umbrellas are here and the color is just what I pictured! Tried each of them a few times, everything opened smoothly. These are for my daughter's college graduation in an outdoor football stadium, so we need something for sun as well as possible rain. It is a long ceremony and having our own shade should help. Gray won't make us particularly easy to spot in the crowd, but I like that we can use them again without thinking about the color. A little bulkier folded than I imagined, otherwise pleased.

As expected - a couple of small points:
As expected - a couple of small points:
The fastening strap could use a little extra length so wrapping it up doesn't feel quite so tight.
The oval handle could be more comfortable in the hand, especially when holding it for a while.
Otherwise seems solidly put together - hope it last
Amber Ruiz
Overall they enjoy using them and I'm happy with how solid they seem.
The kids both wanted to use the first umbrella, so we ended up getting another rather than listening to them argue. Its a nice simple design and the cream white looks really pretty. Once it's open the coverage is good, and the older one can hold it without me doing everything. I do help with the button and putting it away though.Cons - not the lightest thing for little hands, and you can't see through the canopy, so I have to remind them not to pull it right down over their faces. Pushing the shaft back in needs an adult here too. With a 2 and 5 year old I wasn't expecting completely independent use anyway. Overall they enjoy using them and I'm happy with how solid they seem.

A friend at work had this kind and it looked worth a go.
Lost my little umbrella at the bar, a shame because it was a favourite. A friend at work had this kind and it looked worth a go.1. Frame feels substantial2. Push button opening, very convenient3. Sensible price! Can't complain about that4. Green wasn't my first idea, but I've warmed to it, looks good now.I ended up getting more. Now there's one for the office, another stays in my car and a spare lives at home. Pretty much sorted.

It's SO lovely in person.
It's SO lovely in person. I chose cream white for my mother's Christmas present and she absolutely loves it. Now I'm considering one myself, despite already having a perfectly usable umbrella. I wasn't sure about spending that much on one I hadn't seen, but seeing hers changed my mind. It looks elegant rather than plain, and has a reassuring sturdiness when opened. A beautiful gift and well worth the money.
Juan Hensley
The one I passed on was a year old and still looked excellent.
My sister kept admiring mine until I let her take it, so this is my replacement. It gives me good cover in rain coming at an angle, and people do notice how nice it looks. Once I got used to the button I didn't fancy going back to a plain manual umbrella. It can feel a little bulky when folded, though at least it folds down instead of staying full length. The one I passed on was a year old and still looked excellent.

Excited about an umbrella?
Excited about an umbrella? Apparently so. I was not expecting to have opinions about one, but here we are. This is a smart looking thing and the oval handle is comfortable without looking like the usual hooked handle. The part that sold me is opening it with one hand. One finger, actually. When your hands are full and you are about to step into rain, that is a surprisingly wonderful little convenience. No juggling everything while trying to get the umbrella up. Press again and the canopy folds shut; you just shorten the telescoping section yourself afterwards. Nothing mysterious there. I also like the unfussy appearance, and it doesn't become a long awkward object to carry once it is folded. For something meant to stop rain landing on your head, it does its job with a pleasing amount of style. Not sure what else I could demand. Show up dry and look respectable doing it. Happy days.

My granddaughter is 2 1/2 and thinks having an umbrella is wonderful!
My granddaughter is 2 1/2 and thinks having an umbrella is wonderful! She absolutely LOVES this one! The beige is true to the picture -- a nice gentle color. It's a comfortable size for me to hold over her. Now I'm just waiting for some rain so we can try it outside.
Tina Garza
It has handled my rainy commutes well and opens without a fuss.
Used mine for over a year and it never gave me a reason to complain. This replacement is only because I managed to leave the first one somewhere. For working in the city, especially wearing a suit, I think paying a bit more for an umbrella you actually like carrying makes sense. It has handled my rainy commutes well and opens without a fuss. (I used to keep buying cheap ones and wondering why I had to shop for another so soon)
Gregory Rose
It isn't just a rainy day thing in his mind, apparently.
Our two year old son suddenly decided he absolutely had to have an umbrella. I wasn't expecting much life out of one with how he treats things, but this one looked nice and the price seemed sensible. Well, it has been here something like three or four months now and it still looks good. I hold it for him when we're out in the rain, and he is just as interested when the sun is shining. The sprinkler comes on and he immediately thinks it is umbrella time too. It isn't just a rainy day thing in his mind, apparently. He even wants it beside him at bedtime, which tells you how pleased he is with his umbrella.

Love taking this to the field when the kids play baseball!
Love taking this to the field when the kids play baseball! Looks smart and gives me a welcome patch of shade on hot days. Its been useful in rain too, with room for a child to squeeze in beside me. REALLY LIKE IT!Only thing I'd want is a shoulder strap to make carrying it easier. For now I'm using my old yoga mat carrier...not its intended job but it gets the umbrella there nicely

Our little boy kept asking and asking for an umbrella, so we finally got him this one. I wasn't convinced it would survive him for long because he's hard on just about everything. We do help him with it and keep an eye on how he uses it, but it's coped very nicely with a four year old's enthusiasm so far (and looks very sweet).
Leah Gonzalez
He's delighted!
My husband spends a lot of summer outside and has very fair skin, so this was for him. He's delighted! It gives him shade without being a nuisance to carry, and he finds the oval handle comfortable to hold. After seeing how much he uses it, I might have to get my own!!

It arrived neatly packed with a sleeve to put it away in.
I went for the gray Haven umbrella and, having used it, I'm glad I did. It arrived neatly packed with a sleeve to put it away in. The overall shape is quite substantial and the finish looks smart rather than flashy. The sleeve is only average in my opinion. Getting it off isn't a problem, but putting it back neatly takes a bit of arranging as the fit is close.
Opened out, there is generous room for me, or room to share if the other person stays close. The frame feels reassuring, with ribs that have some give rather than feeling brittle when the breeze catches it. One press opens it right out from the folded position, which works nicely. Another press gathers the canopy up, then you push the telescoping stem together yourself to get it ready again. That part is straightforward once you've done it. Folded, it doesn't take up the length of a traditional umbrella. Not a tiny pocket one, but a reasonable size to carry considering the cover you get.
My main reservation would be the grip. The closed oval loop is solid enough, but the area available to hold is a little short for my hand. It doesn't give quite that full handful feeling I prefer. Something I'd alter rather than a reason not to use it, as overall it's an excellent umbrella.
Overall:
Good points -
* Smart gray finish
* Storage sleeve included
* Generous canopy
* Frame feels substantial
* Manageable folded size
* Button opening and folding
Less good -
* Sleeve needs care when putting it away
* Grip could be more comfortable

The green is the shade I expected.
The green is the shade I expected. Not had it long enough to talk about years of use, but my previous umbrella lasted over ten years and I'm hoping for something similar. Construction looks quite good so far.Folded length is about 40 cm, worth checking against the bag you intend to use. The handle is a closed oval carabiner loop. I usually prefer a straight grip, so this shape takes getting used to; useful for carrying, just not my first choice to hold. A sleeve is supplied. I rarely bother with sleeves, but it is there if wanted. The button handles both opening and collapsing the canopy. It doesn't retract the entire telescoping shaft, which you compress manually afterwards. Worth knowing if you expect it to become completely short at a button press.**EDIT**After carrying it around over the weekend, the weight is more noticeable than with my old umbrella. At roughly 390 g it isn't terrible, but I notice it in the bag. Still a decent umbrella, minus a star for my carrying preference.

Very happy to have saved the money.
I'd already bought a pink umbrella at a higher price when I spotted this one for less. Was a bit nervous cos I don't usually try sellers I don't know, but the saving tempted me. It arrived and I couldn't have been happier with it! The pink was just what I wanted and it felt every bit as good as the pricier one. I kept this and returned the other umbrella. Very happy to have saved the money.

For the price paid, I think this was a good choice.
For the price paid, I think this was a good choice. The umbrella itself was better than I expected. Packaging did not look especially strong, but nothing was damaged when it arrived, so that was fine. Low priced purchases can sometimes be disappointing, but this one has turned out well for me. I would recommend it to someone else.

It looks lovely too, people keep commenting on it at work.
Walking through rain and a bit of wind is nicer when my hair and bag aren't getting soaked, and this covers my shoulders without my having to hide under it. It looks lovely too, people keep commenting on it at work.Actually I've had two disappear from the office, so this is number three. (Not working in that office now...)I especially appreciate having a button rather than fiddling with a little metal catch. It took a few tries to get used to closing the canopy with it and pushing the shaft back by hand, but that's straightforward now. My thumbs are much happier, which sounds like a small thing until you've pinched them on an umbrella.
Selena Drake
The button makes it easy to get the canopy open or closed, too.
Love how this umbrella packs away but opens into something properly useful: not a tiny patch over your head. Strong feeling without being tiring to carry, cheerful, practical... I've been unlucky with umbrellas before, so the confident snap when this opens was reassuring. The button makes it easy to get the canopy open or closed, too. There is room for someone to tuck in beside me if we stand close, although I mostly use it alone. The pink makes it much more fun to carry than another plain dark umbrella. My favorite so far: I'd absolutely choose it again.
Aimee Flores
Very pleased with how this umbrella handles gusty weather.
Very pleased with how this umbrella handles gusty weather. Two years of use and it hasn't let me down. I was hesitant about the cost because I didn't want to pay so much only to have another umbrella tear or turn inside out. Instead it has held up each time I've used it. The only drawback for me is that it's a little on the small side.
Joanne Pope
The closed oval loop handle gives it a distinctive appearance.
Mine arrived with a pale spot on the sleeve and a few dull marks along the shaft, rather like somebody had handled it with something on their fingers. A wipe did not seem to shift them. I had planned to give it as a gift, so the finish was a little disappointing. Nothing dreadful, and I would hardly notice it for my own use, but when giving something new to somebody you do want it to look new. I will probably keep this one myself and find something else to give. The pink umbrella itself feels reasonably strong, and I would give it four stars on that side of things. Opened up, it provides a comfortable amount of coverage for one person. It also folds down lengthways, which makes carrying it around more convenient than a long umbrella. Operation is automatic for opening and closing the canopy, using the button. You still have to push the shaft back down by hand afterwards, so it does not do absolutely every part of packing itself away. That distinction is worth knowing before using it. I cannot judge yet whether the button mechanism will be as lasting as a straightforward manual one, but it is convenient. The closed oval loop handle gives it a distinctive appearance. It is a different look from the ordinary curved hook, without making the whole umbrella look overly fancy.

At last, one I'm happy carrying when the rain gets blustery.
At last, one I'm happy carrying when the rain gets blustery. This has become the umbrella I reach for first. The loop handle is comfortable in my hand, and the sleeve is useful for putting it away. My mother took one look at mine and wanted her own, so I ordered another before mine became her permanent "loan." I know how these things go.
Eddie Shea
The rain hadn't done much for taking the humidity away.
Not sure the pictures give much idea of using it in the heat. First time out with it was on a hot and sticky day after a thunderstorm. The rain hadn't done much for taking the humidity away. I'd never used an umbrella for shade before and was half expecting a steamy feeling standing underneath. That didn't happen, it was just a relief having the sun off my head. Me and my two kids could huddle close under it, not lots of spare room but enough to get together. It also has a sleeve for storing it after it dries. I'm glad I tried it, much more useful than I expected.
Sherri Griffin
The kids get so happy getting this umbrella out!
The kids get so happy getting this umbrella out! Something about seeing little legs going along under that beige canopy makes me smile. They like carrying it themselves!Easy enough with me there for the button. Grandma got one for our oldest and when the second wanted one a few years later we chose this again. The first has had plenty of use and is still going. Colour isn't quite as fresh now but really not bad after all that use.
Wesley Kennedy
The button makes opening it very easy.
Not the tiniest folding umbrella I've carried, although there's room for it in my backpack or computer bag. The button makes opening it very easy. After rain the water sits in all those folds and it can be quite drippy, so the sleeve is worth hanging on to.I let it dry properly once I'm home rather than leave it packed away wet. Would have liked a little more coverage, but... that's the compromise for something you can carry around!
Monique Carney
A useful umbrella that does what it is supposed to.
The green stands out nicely among the other umbrellas at a gathering. The automatic action works smoothly and it gives my husband plenty of cover on his own. He is an engineer and appreciated how it is put together. It was his Christmas present and he has been pleased with it. A useful umbrella that does what it is supposed to.
Angel Brennan
The cream white colour and the overall size are both lovely.
The cream white colour and the overall size are both lovely. My one small reservation is that pushing the shaft down after the canopy closes takes more effort than I expected. It's manageable once you're used to it, though. Otherwise, a nicely made umbrella that I'm glad to have.
Becky Carroll
The shade makes waiting far more comfortable.
I used public transport in the city because parking cost so much (more than $100 each month), and got this for the bus stops with no shelter from the sun. The shade makes waiting far more comfortable. It is compact, but still feels properly put together, not flimsy! I also like the oval handle, which is handy for hanging it up between uses. A very useful purchase and one I am glad I made.
Xavier Barton
It has dealt with the rain and blustery days really well!
I bought this to bring along to the Caribbean islands because it rains so much there. It has dealt with the rain and blustery days really well! While other students were struggling with their umbrellas I could keep walking and stay DRY under mine! This has been one of those purchases I don't regret at all. Not the cheapest umbrella I have bought, but I feel I got my moneys worth. Three years on I am in Florida and it is still the umbrella I reach for.
Alice Ramos
Would certainly recommend it!
The automatic opening has been excellent, a quick press and it is ready to use. It has been very handy here in Florida with all the rain we have been getting this season. I chose pink and it really is as pretty in person as it looks in the picture. There is a comfortable amount of room underneath, so I don't have to pull my shoulders in to keep everything covered. The rain runs off the edges rather than dripping onto my clothes. I haven't had any strong wind to try it in, so I can't say much about that, but the construction seems solid. I am happy with both the way it works and the way it looks. Would certainly recommend it!
Kiara Vazquez
My husband and son, who both golf, like how solid it feels as well.
With children wanting to get under the umbrella every time it rains, I appreciate having decent coverage without carrying a huge stick umbrella everywhere. It is still a compact one, so the whole family can't crowd under it, but a child can tuck in beside me. My husband and son, who both golf, like how solid it feels as well. The button opening is the best part for me. When you're getting a baby out of the car in pouring rain, being able to open it with one hand is a very good thing. We've had plenty of that weather lately. I went with black, nothing flashy, and it looks smart. The frame feels well put together and I can see us using this a lot for both rain and shade.
