Really solid umbrella - the canopy has room for me as well as my backpack/bag. It does pack up longer than those really tiny umbrellas, but that makes sense! You get more coverage and it feels much more substantial than those do.I wouldn't really want it any longer overall, although I do wish the handle had a bit more room for my hand, it isn't quite as comfortable a fit as I'd hoped.

Lovely to give a present that actually gets used and appreciated.

My mother teaches music and spends one day a week on bus duty, so I gave her this for Christmas. Standing there in the rain is bad enough without fighting an umbrella too, isn't it?! She says it's been great and she's certainly not been delicate with it. Her old umbrellas never seemed to last very long, but this one is still doing well despite all the use. Lovely to give a present that actually gets used and appreciated. Definitely a successful present!

People keep asking about this umbrella.

People keep asking about this umbrella. It looks smart without being flashy. Nice solid feel. It's been through several wet New England days with me (which is saying something). There are a lot of ribs underneath and the frame feels substantial. One thing I noticed - it's a little heavier than I expected folded up. I've got used to that now. Overall it's an umbrella I'm happy to carry.

Monica Velazquez

Both seem pleased with them and they've coped well so far.

These were Christmas presents for my grown up son and daughter. They each have a walk between public transport and their city offices, so an umbrella gets used whatever the forecast says. Both seem pleased with them and they've coped well so far. Not awkward to carry once folded either.

Ariel Hines

Shade as well, obviously.

The quality is good for what I paid, and I am very happy with it. An umbrella is quite a simple idea really, cloth held above you by a frame. You could probably make a rough version with sticks, though I would rather have this one. The flexible ribs seem a sensible idea because it is not all rigid. My mind went straight to other things I could do with it. Berries! I hate trying to catch each little berry when picking them, especially the ones higher up, and then dropping half of them. I am thinking of holding the umbrella upside down underneath so they have somewhere to land. A mat crossed my mind but it lies flat, whereas this shape should bring them towards the middle. Clever!I have tried it in some windy rain and also emptied a glass of water over the top, just to see. Kept the water off me fine. Funny that I only thought of umbrellas as rain things before. Shade as well, obviously. Very useful thing to have.

Willie Porter

I am happy to recommend it.

The material looks good, the canopy has a nice finish, the ribs look quite substantial as well, I expect it to be useful for rain (and perhaps for shade too). Opening it for the first time gave a good impression, everything moves smoothly. I am happy to recommend it.

Jeffrey Stanton

So pleased I chose this umbrella.

So pleased I chose this umbrella. Its not too heavy when I'm carrying it and the oval grip suits my hand. Opens out to a useful size, with enough cover for me but not a big awkward thing to put away. Above all I've stayed dry using it, so its doing the job I wanted. I'd certainly recommend one!!! A great everyday umbrella!

A happy little grandson is a good result for me.

My four year old grandson needed a replacement for his old umbrella, so naturally he came to grandma. This one seems a better quality than the one he had before and he was particularly taken with the loop handle. He was excited as soon as he saw it! He carries it about and even does his little dance with it. I was glad to find something that answered his special request without making it complicated. A happy little grandson is a good result for me.

Sturdy build, and easy to carry.

Sturdy build, and easy to carry. With a dog to walk, well.. this goes outside rather than sitting in a cupboard. Why get soaked when you don't have to?! Gave one to a relative as well, and they LOVE theirs.. . The handle sits comfortably in my hand and the canopy gives me decent cover. So, it's useful, doesn't feel like a flimsy spare, and I remember to take it out with me.

Ebony Jefferson

Doesn't feel heavy to carry.

I've been using this for a few months around Chicago and it's doing pretty well. Plenty of wet, windy days here, and it's lasted better than the umbrellas I had before.Cons: Wouldn't call it windproof.Pros: Sensible price. Easy to pack away. The automatic canopy opening and closing works nicely. Doesn't feel heavy to carry. Best of all, it hasn't turned itself inside out yet!

Steven Carpenter

No turning inside out so far, which is what matters to me.

After using this one I have no desire to go back to a flimsy umbrella. It feels well put together, and the flexible ribs have coped nicely with the gusts I've encountered. No turning inside out so far, which is what matters to me. I've since given these as gifts too, and they've gone down just as well.

Kurt Rocha

Decent looking umbrella and the frame feels strong.

Decent looking umbrella and the frame feels strong. Cant argue with what I paid. I especially like having a proper storage SLEEVE with it. Once I have folded it up and tucked it away, the whole thing looks neat instead of loose fabric sticking out in my bag. A small thing but useful. Would happily recommend it or get another to give someone.

Joan Graves

These umbrellas are actually rather nice.

For the price I wasn't expecting much beyond something to have ready in case of rain at our wedding. These umbrellas are actually rather nice. We wanted a few to hand to guests if needed and I think they will look lovely as well as being useful. There is room to share if people stand close together. I can't say how many years they will last, but they don't feel like something that will be thrown away after one afternoon. A very good option for the occasion, without spending a fortune.

Paula Bishop

Only had one rainy outing so far, but they feel very solid.

Ordered a pair of these, one to leave at home and the other in my truck. Only had one rainy outing so far, but they feel very solid. They pack down to a sensible size for the amount of canopy you get. There is a little weight to them, which I don't mind if that means a sturdier umbrella. My husband and I can share when we walk close together. I chose gray and really like the simple look of them!

Bobby Baldwin

My 4 yr old is very taken with it.

My 4 yr old is very taken with it. The width is nice for us and he likes pressing the opening button. I do the pushing down afterwards, its a little much for him. Packs up nicely too. Only thing I would have liked is a little picture on the outside, it's plain all round (not really a front or a back with an umbrella anyway). He doesn't seem bothered by that, just keeps wanting to carry it himself.

Angelica Clayton

I'd never spent much on an umbrella before this one.

I'd never spent much on an umbrella before this one. It was a Christmas present for my wife and she loves it. Useful to leave in the car or carry in her larger handbag. The canopy opens and shuts at a press, which she finds really handy, and the black looks smart. Would definily recommend it, and I may get another for myself.

Charles Lloyd

Easy enough to carry and the sleeve is handy.

Usually I can't stand umbrellas, one puff of wind and you're wrestling with them. This one has won me over! It feels delicate at first but has held up fine for me. Easy enough to carry and the sleeve is handy. I'm small, so the size suits. Still think vents would be a sensible thing on umbrellas generally.

Ian Pham

Lovely umbrella.

Lovely umbrella. Folds down neatly enough to leave in the car. I'd have given five stars if pushing the shaft back in took a little less effort. The button does its part -- opens and collapses the canopy fine. Nothing faulty, just firmer than I expected. Delivery was quick. I've only had one rainy day to try it so far, but it felt reassuringly solid.

Robin Lamb

I'm no umbrella expert

I'm no umbrella expert; this simply feels more solid than the flimsy stuff I tend to find in shops. It also looks a bit smarter. I haven't taken it into really nasty wind, so I'm not claiming it is indestructible. I've ruined enough umbrellas to be cautious about that, whatever the frame looks like. The plain, classic appearance suits me well. It doesn't feel overly decorative or like something I picked up by mistake. The oval handle is a closed loop rather than the usual hook, and is comfortable in my hand. It makes a tidy bundle when folded, though not the very smallest sort. For something I will actually carry and use, instead of treating as disposable, I reckon the price is fair.

Melissa Griffin

I'd happily recommend it for the quality.

Excellent umbrella overall, although the smell when first unpacked is strong it needed a couple of days to air out. No complaints once that had gone. The design feels well thought out and gives good coverage without being huge to carry around. I'd happily recommend it for the quality.

Matthew Parrish

A really good umbrella for the regular wet walks.

I use this umbrella for the walk to work and whenever the dogs need taking out in the rain.It has seen plenty of use now and I'm still really pleased with it. There is a decent amount of cover over me, rather than having to squeeze right underneath. Tonight was wet and blustery when I took the dogs out, and the top half of me stayed dry. My legs got wet below the knees, but the rain was blowing across us so I can't blame the umbrella for that. You DO need to keep a firm hold when the wind catches it, you can feel it pulling. I kept it facing towards the breeze and it stayed in shape. Came back indoors, closed it up and it was all fine. A really good umbrella for the regular wet walks.

Johnny Frey

really like this umbrella.

the closing button is handy when I am getting onto a bus or train..really like this umbrella. you still have to press the pole down yourself, which is a bit of a chore. the box was far bigger than it needed to be and meant a walk to collect it instead of it fitting through the letterbox. an awful lot of packaging for something that folds up so neatly!!

Dillon Flynn

WOW, very impressed with this brolley.

WOW, very impressed with this brolley. I live in Saudi Arabia and the sunshine here is INTENSE, with plenty of hot windy days too! Having some shade to walk under makes such a difference. It feels solid in my hand and has handled the breezes I've used it in. Hopefully it keeps going for ages. I'm not easily impressed but this one gets a BIG recommendation from me.

Riley Thomas

I love the cream white and the simple look.

I love the cream white and the simple look. It is just the size I was after. I'm a bit cautious about how it will stand up to regular use, after a disappointing experience with an earlier umbrella. This one feels good so far though. If it wears well I'll be delighted. Hard to know yet.

Jesse Cummings

A good everyday umbrella for her school bag!

My daughter goes to school on foot and our weather is mostly sun... with rain making an occasional appearance. I wanted something she could carry without it taking over her backpack. This one fits alongside her other things when folded and she doesn't mind the weight. The cream white is really pretty and true to the photos. Handy for shade as well as those surprise showers. A good everyday umbrella for her school bag!

Sun sensitivity is why I got this for walking outdoors over summer.

Sun sensitivity is why I got this for walking outdoors over summer. It feels properly made. I haven't taken it into storms or very windy conditions, but there's been no bending or breaking so far. It's light to hold and light enough to carry around in my purse.

Brent Lawson

It's also been fine in the wind I've had it out in.

Fits nicely into the side pocket of my backpack, which is what I wanted, and opens out to a useful size. There's enough room for me and someone else if we tuck in close. It's also been fine in the wind I've had it out in. If I really had to find a niggle, the loop handle feels a little bulky in my hand.

After about a month of owning this, I've only needed it a handful of times, but those uses have been good.I travel a lot and wanted something that could stay in my laptop bag rather than be another thing to carry. This fits in there without much rearranging, though it's a little more noticeable in weight than my old umbrella. The construction feels sound and the button is convenient when one hand is already occupied. Coverage is good for something that folds away, and I haven't ended up with wet shoulders just getting from one place to another.I can't speak for years of use yet, but for my normal travelling needs it has been a sensible choice.

Virginia Lowery

I'll know more after I take it on holiday.

I'll know more after I take it on holiday. I was a little disappointed that it's not as small folded as I'd pictured, but I didn't want to spend money posting it back over that. Plus, I can make room for it. It opens nicely and seems useful enough. I'll come back to this once I've actually had the chance to use it outdoors.

Todd Garcia

The closed loop handle is a nice shape to carry as well.

Held up towards the sun it gives a good dark patch of shade, which is what i wanted. The ribs seem strong for an umbrella that folds down this far. The finishing is fairly basic, and the handle doesn't look expensive, but neither has bothered me in use. For the price i think it's a very good deal. The sleeve is useful, nothing special but it keeps the folded fabric tidy once dry. I can put it away in my bag rather than having it catch on other things. The closed loop handle is a nice shape to carry as well. Opening is straightforward with the button. Press again and the canopy folds, then i push the shaft back down myself. Once you know that last bit there isn't much to it. Normally i prefer manual umbrellas, but this one has been easy enough to get used to.

Holly Guerrero

My complaints are fairly small, but worth mentioning.

For years I had two quite different umbrellas, a big golf one and a compact that was easier to take along. The golf umbrella came from some tournament winnings and has certainly earned its keep. It isn't particularly attractive now, but there is a lot of shelter under it. The drawback is having that much umbrella to manage when the wind catches it. My old compact was the convenient one, with an opening mechanism instead of having to raise everything manually. I used it for years. I remember offering it to a friend in the rain, since I had a coat and hat and he didn't. He first declined, saying umbrellas never lasted with him, then accepted when the rain became heavier. That was the last outing for that little umbrella. So the big one has remained, with a few inexpensive folding umbrellas filling in here and there. The golf umbrella lives in the car, and the small cheap ones have generally ended up in a desk drawer. Neither arrangement has been especially convenient for everyday use. This Haven looked like a reasonable middle ground, and after using it I think that is mostly what it is. The automatic opening is probably the thing I appreciate most. I can reach out through the car doorway and have it open before stepping into the rain, rather than stand there trying to get an umbrella up while already getting wet. The coverage is also quite generous for something that folds. It doesn't replace the golf umbrella for sheer area, but I don't feel squeezed under a tiny patch of fabric, either. The support underneath interested me. There are thirty flexible ribs, and looking up into it you can see quite a network supporting the fabric. Having an engineering background, I tend to look at how the load is spread rather than just whether the top looks nice. There is more going on here than with the simple little umbrellas I've kept at work. I wouldn't take that as a reason to deliberately test it in severe weather, but in the breezy rain I've used it in, it has been manageable. It doesn't demand the same attention as the large golf umbrella. My complaints are fairly small, but worth mentioning. Getting the sleeve back on takes more care than I would like. If I haven't wrapped the canopy reasonably closely, I have to stop and straighten the folds before it will slide in comfortably. A little more room there would suit me better. Closing the canopy with the button is convenient, then the telescoping shaft needs to be compressed manually before putting it away. That part is straightforward; arranging the fabric is the fiddly part for me. Also, compact does not mean that it will fit wherever a very small folding umbrella fits. It takes up more length than my old one, and won't go into the glove compartment where I had hoped to keep it. For now it stays in the back of the car. Not a serious problem, just less handy to reach. Overall I like the compromise. There is useful coverage without carrying the golf umbrella everywhere, and opening it at the car door is genuinely helpful. In the wind I've encountered so far it has been easier to control, too. Whether it will give me the years of service the old umbrellas gave is something only time can answer. The black is suitably plain for work or ordinary use, which is what I wanted. A roomier sleeve and a little less folded length would improve it for me, but as an everyday umbrella I would recommend it.

Juan Curry

The button part is convenient

The canopy is a useful size, but folded up the umbrella is chunkier than I expected. The button part is convenient; pushing the shaft back in afterwards needs more effort than I'd like. For me it's something to take when rain is likely, rather than leave in my bag every day on the off chance. On the good side: the coverage is decent for one adult and it feels sturdy when open.

Garrett Greene

Open it and close it and I can still notice a trace.

The umbrella itself is useful but the metal stem has a slightly greasy feel even after a wipe with paper towel. Open it and close it and I can still notice a trace.Good coverage in the rain and the handle is comfortable - that's what matters most for carrying it around the city (would just prefer the metal to feel cleaner to touch)

Antonio Rhodes

For what I paid I am pleased.

The canopy is more of a one person size than a big golf umbrella, but that is also what makes it easier to carry. It fits into a suitable compartment of my golf bag without having a long handle sticking out everywhere. The oval loop is handy to hold when I'm carrying the bag too. There is a sleeve included, which keeps the folded fabric together and makes it less awkward to pack. I have checked the automatic action: it springs open smoothly and the canopy closes readily. Shortening the pole afterwards is a manual step. For what I paid I am pleased. I wanted something to keep with the bag in case it rains, not another full length umbrella. At a much higher price I might have thought twice.

Francisco Salazar

Can't wait to put this to use properly - it feels like a good sturdy umbrella. I spend ages waiting outside school for the kids, so having decent cover will be lovely on wet days. Thinking of getting a second one for my husband as well - pleased with this purchase.

Frank Rich

Only trouble is it's a small grip.

Coverage is about right for one person and I've used it through several heavy downpours without getting wet. I hadn't paid much attention to the handle in the pictures, but the closed oval shape is quite neat. Only trouble is it's a small grip. My hands are a bit bigger than average for a man, and I don't have much room to get all my fingers comfortable around it. Not a deal breaker, the umbrella itself works well. A roomier handle would have made this a 5 for me.

Kristen Townsend

Not proud, but that was me for YEARS.

I used to be the guy picking up umbrellas somebody had forgotten in a coffee shop. Not proud, but that was me for YEARS. I've managed to lose at least 20 umbrellas myself. They were mostly awful anyway, probably why nobody came back for them. Owning this one is different:-Hasn't turned inside out in windy rain-Keeps my top half dry (feet and the bottom of your legs are pretty much on their own whatever you carry)Feels like money well spent.

Ralph Terrell

The button action is straightforward too.

The price was low enough that my wife wondered whether this would be one of those umbrellas you use a few times and regret buying. Having opened it and looked it over, neither of us feels that way now. We have paid quite a bit more for umbrellas that don't feel any better put together. She wanted something plain in black that would look nice with her rainy day things, but obviously it needed to be useful as well. The seams look neat and the edges are finished properly, which was one of the things I checked first. The button action is straightforward too. I can't think of much else to say except that we both think it was money well spent. At this sort of price I wasn't expecting to be quite so satisfied with the quality!

Julia English

This was my thank-you to my sister for hosting my baby shower.

This was my thank-you to my sister for hosting my baby shower. We loved those old umbrella scenes in films growing up, and I can already imagine my daughter wanting to copy her aunt when she's older. The oval handle gives it a bit of character without being overdone. Feels nicely made in the hand and I'm delighted with it!

Gregory Underwood

The coverage is generous for a folding umbrella.

An understated umbrella, and the oval loop handle gives it a tidy appearance. Mine fits into the car's glove compartment, although there's not a lot of spare room, so I would measure first if that's where you intend to keep it. Pressing the button sends the canopy up quickly. A second press gathers the canopy in, but the shaft still needs pushing back by hand; it takes a fairly firm push, which is worth knowing before you use it. The coverage is generous for a folding umbrella. Two people can tuck under it in a pinch, rather than one person having to walk completely outside it. The materials seem substantial and the mechanism feels positive. Time will tell about longevity, but so far I'd put it among the better compact umbrellas I've used.

Ronnie Carr

Glad I chose it, it's a nice thing to have ready.

Good coverage, and something of a talking point too (people have asked where I found it). I like being able to hold the closed oval handle with a few fingers while I rearrange what I'm carrying. The automatic opening is especially handy when I've got packages and it starts raining--one press instead of a struggle to get the umbrella up. Glad I chose it, it's a nice thing to have ready.

Jodi Middleton

With the wind we get in Chicago, I'm still a little cautious

For work I wanted something I could take along in the morning and pack away if the rain stopped. This fits that purpose well and feels like fair value. Not the tiniest umbrella when folded, though it's easy enough to carry. With the wind we get in Chicago, I'm still a little cautious

Garrett Meyer

It's a good size for one person, really.

Used it several times now and it's been especially handy getting into and out of the car. The button makes that much easier. It's a good size for one person, really. A friend and I tried sharing it and we fitted, but neither of us had much spare room. I'd go larger if covering two people was the main aim. For myself, this one is great.

Sheryl Little

I chose the blue umbrella mainly to use as a sunshade.

I chose the blue umbrella mainly to use as a sunshade. The colour is beautiful and goes so well with my swimsuit. It wasn't a cheap purchase, but I am happy with what I got. The canopy is a sensible size for one person, enough shade without feeling as though I'm taking over the whole pavement when I walk around. The folding design is useful too, since I don't always want to carry a long umbrella about. The oval loop handle is quite different from the usual curved one (and feels comfortable in my hand). Everything feels firmly put together, while the button opening saves me fussing with it each time. I also like that it looks like a proper everyday umbrella rather than something overly fancy.I'm very fond of it. At a lower price I could see myself choosing another colour as well.

Dean Paul

Opening: A press and it's up.

Look: I wanted something decent for walking to work, not too plain but still sensible. The pink gives it a bit of personality without being too much.Opening: A press and it's up. The movement feels controlled, which I appreciate when I'm heading outside.Closing: The button draws the canopy in, but you have to compress the telescoping shaft yourself. That last push takes a bit of effort for me. When I'm also carrying things, it can mean an awkward pause before I can pack it away.Build: The canopy and ribs feel substantial and it's been reassuring in the gusts I've encountered. The oval handle is fine to hold, though bulkier than I personally prefer.I went back and forth between 3 and 4. At this price and with how well it shelters me, I'm settling on 4

Natasha Parrish

Being able to fold it is a big plus.

A very nice umbrella for shade, with a cleaner, more modern look than the parasols I've seen. Being able to fold it is a big plus. My one annoyance is getting the fabric wrapped tightly enough afterwards; I still struggle to slip it back into its sleeve. It doesn't stop me carrying it though, and I feel rather stylish wandering about with my own bit of shade.

Brittany Donaldson

That makes it pleasant to use on a busy pavement.

The grip on this umbrella feels reassuring and the canopy gives me plenty of cover. I keep it just above my eye line so I can see people coming instead of walking with my head down! That makes it pleasant to use on a busy pavement. I still look round the edges before stepping out, but it doesn't feel awkward to carry.

Carolyn Diaz

The compromise is the handle.

There's a good difference between its folded size and how much space you get under it. It slides into my laptop bag neatly, which is really the point for me. The compromise is the handle. I find the oval loop a little short to get my whole hand settled exactly how I want it. It isn't uncomfortable in normal rain, just not as much to grip as the longer handles on some bigger umbrellas I've used. When a gust catches the canopy I need to pay a bit more attention to holding it.

Tyrone Fisher

Blue is a pleasant alternative to darker umbrellas.

A useful option for those who prefer a button-operated canopy rather than opening an umbrella manually. There is sufficient cover for two people standing close, and the flexible frame feels substantial without making it awkward to carry. Blue is a pleasant alternative to darker umbrellas. The supplied sleeve is useful for keeping it neatly packed between outings.

Melinda Pearson

Delighted with this one!

After trying a couple of umbrellas, I think this is finally the one I'll stick with! The others always seemed to involve a compromise, either nice and sturdy but too small, or just not something I wanted to carry. This one opens out enough to cover me and my bag without leaving me feeling like I'm balancing an enormous umbrella. I've only taken it out a couple of times, including some fairly gusty weather, and it hasn't turned inside out. I can't say how it will do over years of use, but the first impression is very good. I went with black and it looks simple and smart, which suits me better than anything too showy. There are lots of ribs and they have some give to them rather than feeling completely rigid. The button makes opening it quick and also brings the canopy closed. You still press the telescoping stem in afterwards, which hasn't been a bother. Once folded it fits in my large purse, so I can actually have it with me instead of leaving it behind because it's awkward to carry. Delighted with this one!
