These arrived today, and first impressions are good.

These arrived today, and first impressions are good. Haven't been out in rain or wind with them yet, so this is just from looking them over. They seem nicely put together. More coverage when opened than I'd expected from a folding umbrella, comfortable for one person.I'll come back to this if anything changes once I've actually used one outside.

Worth getting, works very well.

She is delighted that the Green works with so many of her outfits.

My Grand-Daughter uses this as a necessity on wet days, rather than just something to play with. She is delighted that the Green works with so many of her outfits. Having something useful that she also likes to carry is Wonderful. It has coped pretty well with the windy weather we have had, too. Thank you for giving me a chance to get her an umbrella she is actually happy to use.

Definitely handier to pack than my old full length umbrella!

Definitely handier to pack than my old full length umbrella! It goes into my bag without much fuss, though it's not one of those tiny things you forget is there. The coverage is fine for me, just not loads of extra room if I'm carrying things. A few drops on my back don't bother me!Also, the cream white is warmer looking than I pictured. I was hoping for a cooler white, but it's still a nice colour and I'm happy using it.

I'm quite taken with this umbrella.

I'm quite taken with this umbrella. It folds to a manageable size and using the button is straightforward. The cover is the part I appreciate most, my husband and I can get underneath together if we keep close. Haven't tried it in really rough wind, so I can't say much about that, but it feels solid. For everyday rain it has been a good choice. Nothing is going to cope with absolutely everything the weather throws at it.The beige is what I wanted, no surprise with the colour.

Terri Bowen

Definitely happy to recommend it.

Walking to work every day now, and going home for lunch too, means I get caught in the rain more than I used to. It's only around eight minutes each way but that is enough to arrive pretty wet. This umbrella has been great for that. I can get myself and the tote I carry underneath it, so I'm not sitting at work with damp things. Feels good and sturdy as well. Definitely happy to recommend it.

For what I paid, the quality seems good.

Looks nicely put together and nothing to complain about so far. I haven't had it out in really rough weather yet. The automatic opening is handy without making it complicated to use. For what I paid, the quality seems good. I don't feel any need to spend a fortune on an umbrella that I carry around everywhere - wouldn't I just end up leaving it somewhere?

My three year old loves having this umbrella along.

My three year old loves having this umbrella along. It gets plenty of attention from him and still looks good after all that handling. It seems quite sturdy, which is more than I can say for some of his other things. A bit large for his little hands though, so I help him open it and pack it away.

Have had this for several months now and it has given me no trouble.

Have had this for several months now and it has given me no trouble. Opens out to a useful size and feels solid, although carrying it around all day does get a little tiresome. I've owned plenty of folding umbrellas that didn't make it very far into wet weather. This one has coped much better with the breezy days here, and the ribs have a bit of flex to them instead of feeling brittle. On those days when it can't decide whether to rain or shine i tend to leave it in my bag. When the rain really settles in, though, I'm glad I brought it along.

I wanted something easy for being outside with my little one.

I bought this with my 3 y/o in mind, although it is me holding it over us. Opening the parcel I was surprised how substantial it was. Not the tiny flimsy thing I had pictured. I tried the button and it opened nicely, but after closing it the shaft was still extended. I looked at the instructions. For a moment I thought I had chosen something too complicated and put it aside, even considered sending it back. I wanted something easy for being outside with my little one. A little later I went back to it and realised the button closes the canopy, then you push the shaft down yourself. Once I understood this there was nothing wrong with it...It is actually very simple to use. The beige looks nice and my child likes standing underneath listening to the drops, which was really the whole idea. Could be a little more room for both of us, but I am the one trying to share an umbrella. In the end I am glad I kept it. It seems sturdy and I do not have to struggle getting it open while keeping hold of a small hand. I had made rather a fuss over something simple...but I wanted it to make rainy days nicer with my child and it does exactly that.

The umbrella appears to be of good quality.

Delivery took some time. The umbrella appears to be of good quality. I have not tested it outside. For normal use, at this price, I consider it a good purchase. The material and finishing are satisfactory. Size corresponds to the description. I am satisfied and would advise buying it.

Rain makes the whole walk more awkward.

Downtown Pittsburgh can be a very Windy place, with gusts coming between the buildings and off the rivers. Rain makes the whole walk more awkward. Not so bad with this one! I can keep a clear view ahead while staying covered, without wrestling it at every corner. Makes getting where I'm going a much drier business

Gilbert Cherry

great value and a good umbrella!

great value and a good umbrella! opens up a nice size, and a sleeve is included. (I tend to leave that off but some people will use it). once folded it sits neatly in the closet rather than having a long umbrella poking out, and the sleeve keeps everything together (for those who bother putting it back in there)

Jaclyn Ortega

The button is handy for getting it up and bringing the canopy down.

My second umbrella of this type, and I am reminded how difficult it is to judge one from a listing. You can read about size and still not really know how substantial it will feel until you have it in your hands. For anyone after a plain cream white umbrella with enough room for an adult, I think this is a very good everyday choice. Mine goes into a messenger bag, though I would check your bag rather than assume it fits every small one. The button is handy for getting it up and bringing the canopy down. It is not the tiniest folded umbrella around, which is the one compromise, but I prefer having the useful coverage. Out in rainy weather it has been fine.I have another umbrella with a heavier frame, and that does feel a little more substantial. For taking along regularly, however, this one is the easier choice. Nothing fancy, just a sensible compact umbrella that seems worth the money. I'd buy it again.

*** Already packed for tonight's rain!

Four and a half years of use in New York, and this is still the umbrella I usually take. My tiny spare only comes out when I've left this at home. It's beginning to show a LITTLE wear where the top rubs against things in my backpack. I've been carting it about without bothering with the sleeve most of the time, so I can't exactly blame the umbrella. Still keeping the rain off me. The oval handle is fairly compact; I tend to grip up toward the shaft, which suits me fine. I don't remember the exact cost now, but spread over all those years it's been a very reasonable purchase. ***Worth taking a moment when putting it away. The button folds the canopy, then I push the shaft back in by hand. I straighten the fabric around the ribs before slipping it into the sleeve rather than forcing a lumpy bundle in.*** Already packed for tonight's rain!

Martin Townsend

Closed oval handle rather than a hook.

Haven't had a long outing with it yet, but a few details might be useful.About 105cm across opened, around 40cm folded.Weight is roughly 390g, not bad but noticeable in a small bag.Closed oval handle rather than a hook.Black underneath, cream white outside. The button opens it and closes the canopy; you compress the stem yourself afterwards.More after we use it outdoors later this month.UPDATE: Took it apple picking in Lubbock on a very sunny day. My girlfriend's family found the idea of carrying an umbrella rather funny at first. After a while in that HOT sunshine, nobody was laughing about having some shade. It made walking around much more comfortable for me. Still a bit bulky to pack, which is why I'm stopping at four stars, but for shade I like it a lot.

Neil Torres

The best umbrella I've had so far.

The best umbrella I've had so far. The button action is smooth and quick, and the fabric and frame both feel substantial enough to last a good while. Plus, it has the same dignified sort of appearance as umbrellas you see being held at formal occasions. That probably shouldn't matter when buying something to keep rain off, but I rather like it.

Sean Pollard

I'd certainly recommend it.

After three years mine is still opening and working just fine. I've had plenty of umbrellas that didn't stay useful nearly as long, so this one has been worth keeping. The only reason I've needed another of these was leaving the old one behind somewhere. I'd certainly recommend it.

Drew Hanna

Overall I'd call it good value for what it is.

Expect a few comments when carrying this, I've had compliments on it which isn't something I usually get about an umbrella. The overall feel is decent rather than fancy. It is kinda bulky folded compared with what I pictured, and I notice it in my bag, so not the tiniest travel option. The button mechanism feels solid though and the canopy opens without a lot of fiddling. The sleeve is plain and I have to wrap everything neatly before sliding it in, but that's hardly a big problem.Overall I'd call it good value for what it is. If you're mainly after something that takes almost no room, this probably isn't it. If you want an umbrella that looks nice and works well in ordinary rain, I'd be quite happy recommending it. Not a luxury item but a useful one, and the looks are a bonus.

Luke Best

Lovely quality, very happy with our choice!!!

My wife is quite fussy about the look of an umbrella!! and she was delighted with this one. She liked the smooth opening, the oval handle & the solid feel of the whole thing. Her only hesitation is taking something so nice outside to get wet!!!!A rather funny problem to have with an umbrella, but there we are. Lovely quality, very happy with our choice!!!

Johnny Hubbard

My umbrella has only just arrived, but the first impression is good.

My umbrella has only just arrived, but the first impression is good. It's compact without feeling flimsy. A bit of wind is normal where I live, so the flexible ribs were something I wanted.I do find the price a little high, although the construction looks worth paying for. The real test will be using it through the wetter seasons, rather than opening it a few times now. At this stage it looks like a sensible choice for everyday rain.

Carly Le

I am not particularly good at owning umbrellas.

I am not particularly good at owning umbrellas. Using them, yes. Arriving home with them, less so. There are probably examples of my carelessness travelling around on public transport right now, perfectly dry, while their owner gets wet. Restaurant tables are another favourite place to part company. Consequently, my usual approach was to spend as little as possible. If an umbrella was almost certainly going to disappear, why become attached? Of course, that also meant putting up with fairly unpleasant umbrellas. Things I regarded as temporary possessions before I had even opened them. Eventually I decided that this might be part of the problem. Perhaps having one I actually liked would make me remember to pick it up. Not a foolproof financial strategy, admittedly, but a reasonable excuse to get something nicer. This one is Cream White. A slightly optimistic choice for a person who leaves things on buses, perhaps, but I like it. It looks smart without being fussy, and I don't feel as though I'm carrying an emergency purchase that I resent having paid for. The useful part is that it still suits the way I use an umbrella. It folds down to go in my backpack, leaving room for the other things I insist on carrying everywhere. Open, there's enough coverage for me. I wouldn't nominate it as comfortable accommodation for two adults, but that wasn't what I wanted. On the ordinary rainy journeys that make an umbrella necessary rather than exciting, it has done its job nicely. I arrive less wet. My requirements are not especially mysterious. Then there is putting it away. Opening is a button press, and pressing the button again gathers the canopy down. You still push the telescoping shaft back in yourself. That distinction is worth knowing: the umbrella isn't supposed to retract every last bit of itself at the touch of a button. Once folded, it goes back in the bag rather than remaining beside my seat, quietly preparing for a new life with somebody else. That last step is, unfortunately, entirely my responsibility. I can't report that buying a nicer umbrella has transformed me into an organised person. It has made me more inclined to check that I still have it, which was the point. And it is a genuinely pleasant umbrella to use, not merely an expensive reminder of my own forgetfulness. For now we are still together. The next rainy day can turn up whenever it likes.

Kaitlin Wheeler

A handy small umbrella that has worked well for me.

A handy small umbrella that has worked well for me. I haven't taken it out in a proper storm and would rather not test it that way, since most umbrellas have their limits. For normal showers it keeps me dry and folds small enough to tuck into my carry on bag. Just what I needed!

Cody Villarreal

The price was reasonable and it turned up in good time.

A friend likes cute things, but I didn't want her present to look like it belonged to a small child or be covered in busy decoration. This umbrella had the look I wanted while still being a proper adult size. The price was reasonable and it turned up in good time. Pretty without being overdone, and she was delighted!

Natasha Wood

For sudden rain, also for shade from sunshine, it seems useful.

It is small when folded and not troublesome to take along. For sudden rain, also for shade from sunshine, it seems useful. A heavy thing in the handbag is not very pleasing. There are many ribs, so I take care when putting it away, but the operation is not difficult. Small to carry around, and useful to have with me. I would not choose very bad weather for using this.

December 22, 2010Feels solid right away.

December 22, 2010Feels solid right away. The wind hasn't turned it inside out and the opening button is my favourite part! Fits in my purse without taking everything over, yet there's enough cover for me.I'd happily get another if I ever needed one.***UPDATE***March 28, 2011 and it's still going strong. I don't get much rain here in California, so it's only been out maybe 7-10 times, but everything is working like it did at the start. The green is lovely too! I was curious whether a folding umbrella would stay this nice after being carried around for months. So far, no complaints at all. I'll keep using it and see how it goes.

Donald Mcclain

Size-wise, think cover for yourself, not the whole family.

Wanted something I could carry about easily without feeling like it would fall apart straight away. It's only been needed a couple of times so far, and everything seems solid. The button opening and canopy closing are surprisingly handy for an umbrella that folds down this neatly. Size-wise, think cover for yourself, not the whole family. That's what I wanted anyway. For a practical umbrella to keep in a bag, I would certainly suggest giving this one a look.

Drew Singleton

Good construction and a substantial umbrella

Good construction and a substantial umbrella; a little bulky for me. The beige is subdued, rather than the warm colour I had pictured. My brother likes the appearance more than I do. The main issue for me is using it with gloves. The canopy draws in with the button, but shortening the stem afterwards takes a firm grip, and gloves make that awkward. Bare hands are much easier. I would prefer not to have to think about it when getting out of the rain. That inconvenience cost it a star, rather than just my preference about the colour.

Jillian Moreno

This umbrella has been such a help!

This umbrella has been such a help! I'm sensitive to sunshine and normally keep my head and face covered whenever I go out in the daytime. Having shade over me makes it much more pleasant, without a hat pressing my hair flat. I still take my usual precautions, but I love how simple it is to carry my shade along. The plain style is pretty and understated, and people have said how nice it looks. It has that neat, feminine look I wanted without being fussy. I'm delighted with it and would happily buy one again!

Shawna Lam

These umbrellas have been a good choice.

Each May I choose practical graduation presents for students heading off to college, my own children included. These umbrellas have been a good choice. They fit into a book bag without taking over the whole thing, so the students are more likely to actually carry them. Opening with a button is useful when someone is already juggling books. The same button brings the canopy down, though you do still need to shorten the shaft by hand before putting it away. The part they seem to notice most is the closed oval handle. It gives them something easy to keep hold of, without a long hook sticking out. The ones I've given have done well in our midwestern rain and breezes. A practical gift I would recommend.

Kellie Cook

A useful umbrella that I'm glad I chose.

It's done a good job for a couple of months now and seemed a fair price. No reason to replace it anytime soon, but if I need another I'll be looking on this sight again. The gray appeals to me too. Looks clean and neat, and somehow cheers me up even during the wettest autumn weather. A useful umbrella that I'm glad I chose.

Ethan Larson

The photos give a good idea of how attractive it is.

The photos give a good idea of how attractive it is. What I couldn't judge until holding it was the solid construction and comfortable loop handle. It opens to a useful size too. It looks good with my clothes, and rainy days feel less dreary when people keep complimenting my umbrella.

Walter Atkins

In the rain I've actually had it out in, it has been excellent.

I'm a woman, and I don't particularly need an umbrella put in a special category for me. I need it to keep me dry and not be a nuisance to carry. That's it. This does that very well. Folded, it's sensible for a backpack, briefcase or a roomy purse. Tiny handbag? Be realistic. The sleeve keeps it tidy, but it doesn't turn it into something pocket-sized. The button opens it and another press shuts the canopy. You finish packing it away by pushing the telescoping shaft shorter yourself. Simple enough, and I appreciate not having to wrestle the canopy down. It feels substantial, not like something I have to baby every time I use it. Open, there is good cover for me without taking over the entire sidewalk. Nobody needs me barging down the street knocking everybody else's umbrella out of the way. This is a much more manageable size than that. I haven't used it in really wild wind, so I'm not going to claim it survives everything. In the rain I've actually had it out in, it has been excellent. Now I just need to remember not to leave it somewhere.

Albert Jarvis

Opening and closing of the fabric both work.

Umbrella with 30 flexible ribs, a normal size for carrying, operated by button. Opening and closing of the fabric both work. The material is not thick, but I think it is sufficient for its purpose. One other detail: after closing the fabric, the rod must be shortened with the hand, the button does not do this. The oval handle is closed, different from the curved type I am used to. No complaints about the construction, therefore I can recommend the umbrella.

Julian Vazquez

As a just-in-case umbrella it has been really good.

This is definitely a compact umbrella, not something I'd pick when I want lots of coverage. It covers me, but there isn't much room to spare. That isn't a complaint about how it works, though. As a just-in-case umbrella it has been really good. I keep it in my laptop bag for those times I get caught somewhere without my bigger one. Doesn't take over the bag and it keeps me dry when I need it. Handy for anyone carrying work or school things around. I'd recommend it for that purpose. So far the occasional moderate gust hasn't flipped it over.

Lee Hester

Easy to carry about, easy to fit in luggage, easy to put away.

Roomy when open, shortens down for packing--exactly the combination I needed. Easy to carry about, easy to fit in luggage, easy to put away. Gives good coverage instead of just sheltering my head and shoulders. It looks smart and professional and takes no fuss to use. Very pleased with it.

Warren Fields

So far I'd recommend it.

The pink is really cute and the oval handle looks different (although it's not my favourite grip, which is why I've taken a star off). Feels quite durable - my busy 3 year old has already been very interested in it and it still looks fine. We haven't tried a proper downpour yet, so I can't say much about that. So far I'd recommend it.

Erin Garza

It just feels more substantial when it's open.

Never expected to care which umbrella I picked up, but this has become the one I reach for. I haven't had it out in the really strong winds I've dealt with before, so I'm not making any grand claims there. It just feels more substantial when it's open. I was unsure about the oval loop handle at first, thought it might be more about looks, but it is comfortable to grip. Being able to fold it down also makes carrying it between showers much less awkward.

Darren Zimmerman

It's nicely put together and she thinks it's cute.

My two year old was always wanting her older sister's umbrella, so this one is for her. It's nicely put together and she thinks it's cute. There's room for us to stand together underneath when I hold it. Both girls are happiest outside splashing about when it rains.

Todd Mercado

Okay, I'm more impressed with this than I expected.

Okay, I'm more impressed with this than I expected. Opened up it gives very good cover, and it feels substantial enough that I'm not nervously watching it every time the wind blows. The oval loop handle is comfortable in my hand too. Not the tiniest umbrella to squeeze into a bag! It folds down, but there's still a bit of weight to it. For concerts, picnics or the days when I really don't want my hair ruined, I think it's money well spent.

Yolanda Horne

Would happily tell a friend to get one.

I've had this out in the rain and also on sunny days and its been very good up to now. Feels solid when the wind picks up, and there's plenty of cover in heavy rain. The black canopy makes a comfortable patch of shade in the sun, a bit like having shade that comes along with you. With the amount I use it, its holding up nicely and I'm pleased with it. Would happily tell a friend to get one.

Christian Haas

The frame has a nice bit of give.

We all had a look when this arrived because it opened out bigger than we expected! Doesn't feel a chore to hold either. It comes along when we walk the kids to the bus and has been really useful for that. If someone forgets theirs we can huddle together under it for the short wait, rather than leave them out in the wet. The frame has a nice bit of give. I knocked it quite hard into a pole once and thought that would be the end of it, but it flexed instead of bending out of shape. Nothing needed fixing and we carried on using it.

Jane Cox

The fabric and frame look good to me.

After a long, hot summer I ordered this in the fall, mainly to have some shade. I haven't had much opportunity to use it yet. Once the heat comes back, I expect it will be coming out a lot more. The fabric and frame look good to me. My reservation is the handle... I hadn't realised how different that closed oval loop would feel compared with the handles I'm used to. It's a little bulky in my hand. I did think about whether I'd prefer something else, but it doesn't stop me holding the umbrella comfortably enough for what I bought it for. So I'm keeping it, just not completely sold on the shape of the handle.

John Rivas

Handled our wet evening very well!

Handled our wet evening very well! We got caught in a storm on the way to a restaurant, and it stayed steady while people nearby were wrestling with theirs. Coverage suits one person rather than a crowd. If that's the size you want, this is a really good umbrella.

Heidi Freeman

i've been getting on well with this umbrella.

i've been getting on well with this umbrella. It has kept me dry in heavy rain, though I wouldn't choose it for really wild weather. A little heavier in the hand than expected, but the frame seems solid. A few people at work have commented on it too. The beige looks much as it did in the picture. Overall a decent purchase for what I paid.

Christy Carpenter

The button is handy for putting it up and drawing the canopy closed.

Lots of space under this umbrella, and it folds into a manageable size. The button is handy for putting it up and drawing the canopy closed. My only real complaint is the force needed afterwards to shorten the shaft by hand...I have to give it quite a push. Aside from that it's solid, and has done well on the breezy, rainy days I've used it.

Troy Davenport

Small detail but a good one, to me .

I went through quite a few reviews before choosing this . After several months using it, my feeling is a little less excited than when I ordered . Not bad though, it feels reasonably sturdy and the green is nice . The handle sits well in my hand, which matters more to me than I thought . The folded size is the bit I appreciate for my bag . Not some tiny thing that disappears, but I can put it away without a long handle sticking out and making the bag go a funny shape, lol . There is only so much room when all the other stuffs are in there already . That oval loop also comes in useful when my hands are full, I can keep a finger through it rather than trying to grip everything together on a wet day . Small detail but a good one, to me . Putting it away was another thing I wanted to be simple . I like being able to gather the fabric reasonably quickly and get it into the sleeve, instead of making a big loose bundle of it !! It still needs a little arranging, not instant neatness, and this part was less convenient than I imagined . But after doing it a few times I am quicker, so not a big bother . So yes I am happy with it, just not quite the amazing thing I had pictured from reading . For the money it feels a sensible buy for my usual walking about in town, mostly light rain and not much wind . In a stronger gust I get the feeling it wants to turn over, so I adjust how I am holding it . Old habit from flimsy umbrellas I had before :-) Maybe I am over careful :-) Anyway, good enough and nice to use .

) felt quite rigid, whereas this has a bit more give to it.

People have noticed the green and I've already had compliments, which is a nice extra when the important thing is getting home without being soaked! This little umbrella has made me ridiculously happy ♥‿♥It spreads out a fair amount once opened, so I do have to remember other people when walking past, but having decent coverage is worth that small consideration to me! Looking up underneath you see black instead of green, which I hadn't really paid attention to before buying. Quite a nice contrast actually, and the outside is the bit everyone else sees anyway! The fabric needs a little arranging if I want it folded really neatly (I am not especially patient with that part) but it doesn't have to look freshly packed every time it gets put away. Folded it isn't the tiniest umbrella I've carried, although much less awkward to keep with me than a long one. Again, I don't mind a bit of bulk if the open umbrella is a useful size! The one I lost (; ^ ;) felt quite rigid, whereas this has a bit more give to it. Not dangling about, just a different feel when handling it (hopefully that makes sense?)There are lots of ribs underneath and it feels well supported when opened. I can't tell how it'll look after ages of use yet, but so far I have no reason to worry, will come back if there's anything worth adding ♥‿♥ Overall I'm glad I bought it, the green is cheerful without being too much and I've stayed comfortably dry underneath. I've paid similar money for umbrellas that didn't feel nearly as nice in my hands, so this feels like a good find rather than something bought just to get through one wet day (´‿`♡)

Eugene Orozco

A good solid choice for the rainy days we've had so far.

Bought this with New Hampshire's wet weather in mind... It's been out with me several times now, in steady rain and some fairly blustery weather... No problems keeping covered. I like that it gives me enough shelter without feeling oversized when I'm carrying it about... The loop handle is comfortable to hold and the whole thing looks quite smart, something I can use heading to the office or watching a game... It feels like a well put together umbrella rather than something I'll be replacing straight away. A good solid choice for the rainy days we've had so far.

Carolyn Hobbs

It seems a better choice than the folding umbrellas I've used before.

What sets this apart for me is the flexible frame, straightforward button operation and the way the materials feel. It seems a better choice than the folding umbrellas I've used before.I will mention that it's not the tiniest or lightest one to carry, but I'm happy to trade a little space for that more substantial build. Staying manageable in breezy weather matters more to me than shaving a bit off the packed size.
