These gray umbrella's are just right for my grandsons' school games.

These gray umbrella's are just right for my grandsons' school games. Good for watching soccer and football when it's wet, and useful for shade as well. Louisiana gets so hot, then we'll have stretches where it seems every game has some rain. Glad to have them.

Frames still feel solid and they fold down fine.

We picked up five while in Boston four years back. They've travelled with us to Scotland and on several New York visits, and have kept us dry in some pretty miserable weather. Frames still feel solid and they fold down fine. Bought a couple more after we left some behind, our own mistake not anything wrong with the umbrellas. Oh, keep yours beside you when you go into a restaurant. Put it in that shared stand by the door and somebody may decide they prefer yours, then you're left looking at an umbrella you never wanted.

The positives first.

The positives first. This feels more substantial than the small umbrellas I've used before, both through the handle and the frame. It gives me reasonable cover when I'm walking the dog and hasn't been difficult to manage in ordinary wind. The button sends it up quickly and brings the canopy back down. You still need both hands to push the shaft back in, which is normal, but I wouldn't describe putting it away as entirely one-handed. Once reset, it's fairly compact. My one disappointment is the space underneath. At about 105cm across, it's fine for me alone, but keeping myself and the dog covered takes some positioning. I had pictured something more generous when open. The folded size is convenient, so I suppose that is the trade-off. Overall - the finish and construction are better than average, and I don't regret paying for it. Just don't expect compact carrying size to somehow turn into enormous coverage.

Should we need another umbrella.....

I ordered this for my daughter at college in November. She tells me it feels quite substantial, rather than like the flimsy umbrellas she sees around the campus shops. There is enough coverage for her and her book bag on the wet walk to classes, which was the main thing I wanted. The frame seems sturdy and she finds the button handy when carrying her things.I cannot say yet how it will hold up over a long period, so I may come back and add to this later. At present she is pleased and it has met our expectations. Should we need another umbrella.....I would happily choose the same one!

Ordered the cream white and it looks just how I hoped.

Ordered the cream white and it looks just how I hoped. I had to wait nearly two weeks for any rain to try it properly, typical!! In the meantime I kept opening it in the house to see the colour. The button is easy enough, but after it draws the canopy in you still need to push the stem down yourself. I smooth the folds before putting it in the sleeve, rather than stuffing it in any old way. Have taken it out a few times now and people have said how pretty it is. I'm only 4'10" and once it is up it looks quite big over me. Another little person could squeeze alongside, but somebody much taller makes sharing awkward...we gave that a go LoL

Bought this for painting outdoors.

Bought this for painting outdoors. It gives me a useful patch of shade, though there isn't a built-in means of fixing it to my chair or tripod. My husband is going to figure that part out. The pink top is cheerful and I'm hoping the black underside won't throw off how I judge my paint colours (we shall see.) Looks solid and cost a sensible amount.

For a single person I think it's a very good umbrella.

The construction seems really solid and it has coped well with the breezes I've used it in. No trouble with the ribs or the button so far.I would recommend it if you're fed up with flimsy bargain umbrellas that make every wet day a nuisance. My four stars rather than five comes down to the coverage. I had pictured two people fitting underneath with room to spare, and that isn't realistic. It is roomy for me on my own, but sharing means huddling together and someone still risks a wet shoulder. For a single person I think it's a very good umbrella. If two-person coverage is the main thing you need, I'd look for something with a bigger canopy.

Opening it is quick when the weather catches you out.

My friend tried mine and liked it enough that I plan to buy her one for her birthday. I mainly wanted some shade because of a skin condition, and being able to take it outside with me has been very helpful. The black looks smart and it gives me good cover without carrying an enormous umbrella about. I've used it in rain and breezy weather too and it feels reassuringly firm. Opening it is quick when the weather catches you out. I'd happily recommend it to someone who wants an everyday umbrella for both rain and a break from the sun

Eileen Archer

this one held its shape.

We were walking down the pavement in heavy rain, all three of us with umbrellas. One gust pushed the other two canopies backwards...this one held its shape. That was a pretty convincing little demonstration for me! I am not going to pretend it makes wind irrelevant, and I still angle it sensibly when a gust comes along. It also gave me good coverage as we walked, without feeling enormous overhead. For what I paid I think this is a really good umbrella, and money well spent.

A handy little find!

A handy little find! I spent ages comparing umbrellas that cost a lot more, then took a chance on this one. Most of its outings are to my kid's baseball games, where I want some shade for my fair skin. My husband took a turn holding it and noticed how much nicer it felt out of the direct sun. It's cute as well as useful. Definitely money well spent!

James Lyons

Such a good umbrella for my walks.

Such a good umbrella for my walks. My shoulders and handbag actually stay covered. I don't drive, so going between home and work downtown means it gets used quite a bit. Waiting at a crossing, I watched the woman beside me have her umbrella turn inside out -- mine did Not do that. It kept its shape while we stood there waiting for the light. That's the kind of thing I wanted, something I can hold onto and trust in the weather I walk in. Glad I went with this one.

Men's or women's doesn't make much difference to me, this suits me.

Men's or women's doesn't make much difference to me, this suits me. I walk back from work most days and my larger umbrella was a bit much to carry. The button lets me open it or collapse the canopy one handed, which is very useful, and the coverage is good. Still need both hands to push the shaft down afterwards, so not completely effortless, but a good size for me.

Molly Woodward

The umbrella opens and shuts as it should, with no trouble.

Be aware when closing it that pressing the button brings the canopy in, it does not pull the whole shaft down as well. . . To put it away, the shaft needs to be pressed back by hand until it locks, ready for the next use. The umbrella opens and shuts as it should, with no trouble.

Collin Barrera

Very pleased with it!

i've always liked big golf umbrellas, but this is what i chose after about ten years with the old one. smaller to carry of course, and still enough cover for me. the button opening has been handy and the canopy fabric seems durable. There is a bit of arranging to do to pack it neatly, which I don't mind. Very pleased with it!

Cathy Manning

Good quality and happy to recommend it.

For our September garden wedding I carried this down the isle. It suited the vintage look beautifully. Simple and elegant, which was exactly what I wanted. It ended up beside the alter on the ground and looked lovely in our pictures. A little different without being overdone. Took some more photos with it afterwards. Good quality and happy to recommend it.

California sun is no joke.

California sun is no joke.I have melanoma in the family, so I'm careful about being outdoors. This gives me SHADE!That's what I wanted!I still take my usual precautions, but having shade I can bring along makes being outside much more comfortable.I also like how neatly it folds away into the sleeve, and it doesn't feel a burden to carry.A very welcome purchase!

Johnathan Adams

This has been good for that, as well as the usual showers.

Folded, it's roughly 40cm long -- compact compared with a full length umbrella, but not something that disappears inside a small purse. It still needs a bit of room. I carry mine along with my photography gear and use it regularly in South Florida, including Big Cypress. Summer sun there makes having your own patch of shade very welcome. This has been good for that, as well as the usual showers. I wouldn't call it tiny, but the coverage is worth the space it takes up, and it has stood up well to being carried around outdoors rather than handled delicately.

Charles Crawford

Walking to work feels much nicer now!

I enjoy going to work on foot, but the sun on the way can be quite uncomfortable. I started looking for an umbrella I could use for some shade without dragging something huge around all day. So glad I found this! It is noticeably more comfortable underneath it than walking with the sun straight on my head. The green is beauitful too, which makes me want to carry it rather than leave it at home. It folds down to fit in my handbag and opens out wide enough to give me a good patch of shade. I still use my usual sun protection, this is just a very welcome extra. Walking to work feels much nicer now!

Any umbrella has its limits.

I've had this for... maybe four months now? and it's still doing well. Showed up when expected, looking completely new and untouched. I've used it for shade on hot days and for rain, and it's handled both really well. Haven't taken it out in hail or snow or the sort of wind that sends everything flying. Wouldn't really want to test that, and wouldn't suggest doing it either. Some comments I've read seem to expect an umbrella to take a real battering without bending. Any umbrella has its limits. Just look after it and don't expect it to fight a storm for you, and it should keep going a good while <3

Adriana Greer

Glad I got this umbrella.

Glad I got this umbrella. I was a little worried it would be too bulky for me when I first held it. There is some weight to it, but it feels reassuring rather than awkward. I've had it out on a windy day and it behaved fine, no turning inside out. The canopy gives me enough cover to keep my shoulders dry in proper rain. Really like being able to pop it open with one press too. Happy to recommend it.

Tim Arnold

The construction looks very good, and it folds away neatly.

Ordered this for my daughter and was surprised by how much it opens out. She's tiny, so it looks bigger next to her than I imagined it would. Not a giant umbrella, just more coverage than the folded size had led me to expect. Once she finishes college and starts going to work in work clothes, I think she'll be grateful for that on wet mornings. For now we've had a laugh about mom choosing her umbrella as though she needs her own little roof! The construction looks very good, and it folds away neatly. I rather wish I had kept it....might need another for me!

Tim Byrd

Smart-looking and fairly substantial for a folding umbrella.

Smart-looking and fairly substantial for a folding umbrella. I can just get the Haven into my car's glove compartment, but it's worth checking your own space if that's where you plan to keep it. The button handles opening, and a second press draws the canopy closed. That doesn't pull the shaft back in; you push the telescoping section down by hand, with a fairly firm push. I mention it because automatic closing can sound as though absolutely everything happens for you. Once I understood that, using it was straightforward. There is more room underneath than with some smaller folding umbrellas I've had, and two can share if they stand close. The construction gives a good first impression. For everyday use it's a very satisfying compact umbrella, and I hope it wears as well as it looks.

Donald Woods

Four years of regular use and I still reach for this umbrella.

Four years of regular use and I still reach for this umbrella. Having shade right where you're sitting is such a nice thing on a hot day. The kids can read or color outside while I hold it over them, instead of everyone having to move indoors. It is surprisingly dark underneath! Not a big garden umbrella, of course, but handy shade that goes along with you. It's been dropped, soaked and left out when it should have been put away...none of us have been particularly gentle with it. The canopy still looks good and it is just as useful when the rain starts. For something so ordinary it has turned out to be one of my favorite purchases. Shade when you want it....I use it much more than I expected.

Paige Moore

All three have been good everyday umbrellas.

I bought three of these two years back, keeping one and giving the others to my sister and sister-in-law. All three have been good everyday umbrellas. Mine opens easily and has kept me dry, and both women have told me more than once how useful theirs are. For something we each actually carry, rather than leave at home, I think they've been excellent.

Ryan Archer

I Gave this to my girlfriend and she was so happy with it!

I Gave this to my girlfriend and she was so happy with it! Ended up buying one for myself too. The button action is nice and straightforward, and once the canopy is wrapped neatly it slides into its sleeve without a struggle. Both feel well made, and it made a lovely present.

Monica Blevins

Excellent umbrella for my walk to work!

Excellent umbrella for my walk to work! There's enough spread to keep me and my messenger bag covered, which is the main thing I wanted. I also like the closed loop handle more than I expected to. It sits comfortably in my hand, and I haven't ended a longer walk with aching fingers from hanging onto it. When the rain lets up, I close it and carry it by the loop rather than having a full length umbrella to manage. **Note: You still need to pay attention passing people on a busy pavement, as the canopy takes up room when it's open!

Sheri Hines

my daughter is so pleased with hers!!

my daughter is so pleased with hers!! - I could see why when she came back from school with it - lovely looking but solid too, and it keeps her dry! :) - she's studying art and her classmates and teachers have admired it as well, thanks, a really good choice and we're both happy with it.

Carly Dixon

Bought this to replace an umbrella I'd used for several years.

Bought this to replace an umbrella I'd used for several years. I wanted a compact one that would go in my briefcase. Automatic opening was important to me; I'm less sure I need the canopy-closing button, since the shaft still has to be compressed by hand afterwards. I like the design and the initial impression is good. Longer use will be a better test of how well it stands up.

Micheal Rubio

Back for the same umbrella.

Back for the same umbrella. The first was fine, somebody just helped themselves to it. People still taking things that aren't theirs apparently. Why mine? well it did look nice lol.I liked using it and it was easy to carry, so here I am buying it again. Glad to find another at a price that suited me. Annoying reason to need another, but I'm pleased with the umbrella itself. I would buy it again!!

Traci Ruiz

Similar weight, too.

Another replacement because apparently I can't keep track of umbrellas for more than a few months. Took this out in heavy rain and a fair bit of wind last week, and it coped about as well as the ones I've lost. Similar weight, too. I'd rather it were a little lighter, but I can live with that if it keeps feeling this solid.

Priscilla Day

There is some weight to them, but manageable for the wait outside.

Ordered around a dozen for our school staff who supervise the buses. (Go team!) They give decent cover for the adult on duty, though I wouldn't try crowding several children under one. There is some weight to them, but manageable for the wait outside. Beige looks just like the description. The opening and packing away is simple.Staff are pleased to have an umbrella handy, and appreciate getting through the rainy mornings with dry shoulders.

Miranda Holland

For what I paid these feel like a very good deal.

For what I paid these feel like a very good deal. They look solid and the finish doesn't give me the impression of something cheap. I'm not claiming to know how long they'll last yet, but at this price I'm happy with them. I'd be willing to pay a little more for the same thing again. Will probably get a few to give as gifts.

Norman Baird

Ordered late in the Christmas rush and it still arrived in time.

Ordered late in the Christmas rush and it still arrived in time. Looks exactly as described, perhaps a little nicer in person. It's for my daughter at college, to help keep her dry on those walks across campus...after seeing it I was tempted to hang on to it myself.

Kimberly Joseph

Happy with it!

Still haven't taken it to the beach, but it came camping with us in case the sunshine got too much. I held it over me when we were sitting around and the shade was lovely. Felt steady in my hand even with it fully open. We also had a spell of rain and it gave me good cover then too, so it wasn't just taking up space in the bag. Happy with it!

When my daughter started her freshman year at a women's college in…

When my daughter started her freshman year at a women's college in Virginia, I sent her this umbrella. She has been delighted with it and says people keep commenting on how nice it looks. Apparently rainy days are a little less unwelcome when she has an excuse to carry it. She can share with a friend if they stay close, which she appreciates walking around campus. I can't give an opinion on really windy conditions, since she hasn't had to use it in those yet. For the price, it has been a very successful gift and one she actually enjoys using.

Autumn Stanton

You get a practical little umbrella, not a giant heavy duty one.

You get a practical little umbrella, not a giant heavy duty one. Handy for getting between the car and wherever I'm going when it's raining. I wouldn't choose it for a long walk somewhere exposed, but after months of everyday use mine is still doing fine. It fits beside the driver's seat without getting in the way, so it actually stays where I can reach it. Good cover for normal showers.

Alec Hopkins

A purchase I'm glad I made.

Rain here seems to bring wind with it, and drivers act as if they've never seen a wet road before. I can keep this held high enough to watch what's going on around me. The pink is cheerful even when everything outside looks miserable. A purchase I'm glad I made.

Leroy Molina

a few too many 'sorrys' from me.

the umbrella feels well made and I'm happy with it, but I hadn't thought about using it in a crowd. took it along for an outdoor weekend convention, and even this size meant I kept watching the edges around people. a few too many 'sorrys' from me. glad I bought it, just need to leave others a little room.

Bridget Park

Above the waist it does the job.

There are things I like about it (quick opening, feels sturdy, easy to carry), but I was looking for more protection down around my legs. Above the waist it does the job. Once rain is blowing sideways my pants still get quite wet, and the round canopy can't really do much about that. A compact umbrella is handy, just not the answer to what I wanted it for. Knowing that now, I'd probably choose a larger golf style instead, even with the extra bulk.

Andres Golden

There's more weight to it than my usual compacts, which I rather like

A note about the five stars: it only arrived today, on a sunny spring day, so I haven't tried it in either wind or rain. Still, it looks and feels very well made. There's more weight to it than my usual compacts, which I rather like; the frame and canopy feel substantial. The button opens it and closes the canopy just as it should. Closing doesn't pull the whole shaft back in for you, though. You push that down yourself for the compact size, which seems normal to me. If you appreciate something that feels properly put together, I think it's worth paying for.

Patty Bauer

What a difference in the sun!

What a difference in the sun! Having that shade overhead is such a relief, like finding a little shady spot you can take along with you. It has coped well when a gust catches it too. I reach for it whether the forecast says rain or sunshine--one of those things I now prefer to have with me!

Gabriel Klein

I find the oval handle quite pleasant to use.

It sits securely in my hand and keeps me well covered. I find the oval handle quite pleasant to use. My fingers fit through the loop and I don't feel as if I'm constantly adjusting my grip while walking! I imagine that makes it easier to pay attention to the pavement and the people around me rather than worrying about holding the umbrella.

Elaine Summers

An umbrella for my niece as a present.

An umbrella for my niece as a present. My sister wants her to have some shelter from rain and sun while she's in her wheelchair. We both thought it looked really sweet. I tried opening it to check the coverage and was pleasantly surprised that it sheltered an adult comfortably as well.

William Vega

Definitely a happy purchase!

I'd been looking around for a pink umbrella and nearly settled on a different one - until I added up what it would cost, well. No thanks. Had another look and came across this instead. It seemed much better value, so I went for it!The photo made it look pretty, but seeing it for real was even better. The pink is just right, there's plenty of cover for me, and it opens with no fuss at all. Definitely a happy purchase!

Bryce Nelson

Hoping this one will be with me for a good long while.

For once I decided to spend a little more on an umbrella instead of picking up whatever was cheapest. The walk to work is much less frustrating now. I'm not constantly wrestling the canopy back into shape, and I arrive considerably drier than before. It does what I bought it to do.Four stars for now because this is my first experience with a better umbrella, so I don't have a lot to compare it with. Hoping this one will be with me for a good long while.

Bradley Brady

A thoughtfully designed everyday umbrella.

We wanted reliable cover for wet dog walks, and this has worked beautifully. There is room to stay dry without an awkward umbrella to manage. The comfortable balance is appreciated (particularly with the dog leash occupying my other hand). A thoughtfully designed everyday umbrella.

Frances Winters

A very good umbrella.

For anyone who keeps looking at umbrellas and cannot decide. I would say to choose this one. The frame looks solid and the ribs are close together underneath. Opened out, the cover is much wider than you expect from the folded umbrella. It is a reassuring thing to have when the rain starts. Provided I do not leave it somewhere, I can see myself using it for a long time. Looking at it closed, it is quite a neat bundle. There is a fabric sleeve around it, and the sleeve comes off so you can take the umbrella out. The Gray is a plain colour, which I like. The button sits near the handle. One press and the umbrella spreads out, with a broad cover overhead and all those ribs beneath it. I like that very much. I might choose another colour if I get a second one. No need to keep searching. It takes up some room even when folded, so not the tiniest umbrella, but I am pleased with what I got. For the price I paid, I think it is an excellent choice. That is my own feeling from using it, nothing complicated. A very good umbrella. My score is five stars, out of a hundred. *****.

Brian Flynn

it's shade, not magic!

3 words: I Have Lupus.I was expecting something RIDICULously awkward... but this is a manageable size, Enough shade for me without carrying a beach umbrella down the street, And the weight hasn't been a nuisance. The gray is a nice quiet colour, not shiny tin foil, with the dark underside that I prefer looking up at. I'm not treating it as a replacement for my normal sun precautions.. it's shade, not magic! O-8=Yes! After reading all those arguments about different frames I had made the whole purchase far too complicated in my head. Using it is simple enough, press the button and I have my cover overhead, No grand mystery. Lastly the only thing I'd improve is carrying it around while shut. The oval handle helps, but I still sometimes wish it were a bit easier to carry when my hands are full.

Latoya Burns

VERY HAPPY WITH THE WAY IT LOOKS AND IT FEELS WELL MADE TOO.

EXACTLY THE SORT OF SIMPLE LOOK I WANTED--NOT FUSSY AND NOT BORING EITHER. THE BEIGE IS A NICE NEUTRAL AND LOOKS RIGHT HANGING ON MY COAT RACK. I COULDN'T QUITE MAKE OUT THE HANDLE IN THE PHOTO, BUT IT'S A CLOSED OVAL LOOP, NOT AN OPEN HOOK. THAT ACTUALLY SUITS HOW I HANG IT UP! VERY HAPPY WITH THE WAY IT LOOKS AND IT FEELS WELL MADE TOO.

Jesse Reynolds

Does what I need and I would definetly recommend this umbrella.

I've had it a month now. It is small to carry and then big when you open it, so in the rain you don't get much rain on you. Gray isn't the most exciting color to me but that is only a little thing. Does what I need and I would definetly recommend this umbrella.
