My four stars are really about not having owned it very long.

It has only been about a month, so I'm not ready to say how many seasons this umbrella will manage. We've had quite a run of wet weather in Boston during that month, though, and it has had regular use rather than sitting in a cupboard. I had become fed up with umbrellas that seemed to get less durable each time I replaced one, which is why I decided to try something different. Up to now this one looks much as it did when I first opened it, and it has kept the rain off without fuss. That makes me optimistic about keeping it for a while. My four stars are really about not having owned it very long. Another stretch of use like this and I would be happy to make it five.

It arrived without any fuss.

I'm keeping this umbrella in the car for those times when I go somewhere and the rain catches me out. It has a simple look that I really like. Haven't actually needed to use it yet, but it feels well made and I expect it will be handy when the rainy season starts here in California next month. It arrived without any fuss.I would recommend it to someone wanting a good sized umbrella to have ready in the car

A good solid umbrella, which is what I wanted in the first place.

I can't say I agree with the unhappy comments. I can only go by the ones I own, and they have been dependable and easy to use. I have also given several away as gifts and been pleased with that choice. For the money I don't see much to complain about. A good solid umbrella, which is what I wanted in the first place.

First chance of rain came at the week end.

I have two granddaughters and the younger is the quiet one, her sister likes a bit more fuss. She needed something for school and picked this umbrella. First chance of rain came at the week end. Off she went to try it before we'd even got ourselves ready to go out with her. That was her little test done and she was happy with it. Glad there's still useful things to find without spending too much.

Arrived when expected, neatly packed.

Arrived when expected, neatly packed. The first thing that caught my eye was the sleeve, which is nice for keeping it put away. I took the umbrella onto the porch and had a proper look over it before using it. The fabric feels good and the stem, ribs and handle all seem solid without making it look clumsy. Yesterday it was pouring when we had errands to do, so it finally got a proper outing. Plenty of cover for me, but I didn't feel like I was carrying some enormous beach umbrella down the street. Opening it with the button was handy when heading out. If its windy you still need to keep a good grip, but that applies to any umbrella really. Folded up it is a manageable size to take along. I'm completely satisfied so far and would recomend buying it. For what I paid, it feels like a much nicer umbrella than I expected to get.

Theresa Chan

Otherwise it feels solid and she's very happy.

My daughter had a panda umbrella for years and now feels she's too old for it. This looks more grown up, which she likes. The button means she isn't trying to find a little catch under the canopy, and that suits me too. The one awkward part is pushing the shaft back in after the canopy has closed. I can manage it, but it is quite firm for a 7 year old, so I usually help. Otherwise it feels solid and she's very happy. A GREAT step up!

Nice being beside my honey instead of trailing behind!!

My partner is over six feet and I'm only just above five, but we can share this if we stay close!! With the old umbrella I was always shuffling sideways to get under it,this one is much more comfortable for a short walk together. Nice being beside my honey instead of trailing behind!!

My wife and I both use these.

My wife and I both use these. I've had mine for five years; she's had to replace one because the first went missing. Not the cheapest folding umbrella, but it's been worth the extra to me. Mine hasn't inverted or given me any trouble over that time. The useful bit is that the button shuts the canopy as well as opening it. With a parcel in the other hand, being able to collapse the wet canopy one handed really does help. I then compress the telescoping shaft manually before putting it away. It fits in my everyday commuter bag, so there's no excuse for leaving it behind. I let it dry before it goes back in there, which ought to be common sense but apparently is worth saying. For a carry-around umbrella, this gets my recommendation.

Larry Lambert

Not the cheapest choice, I'll admit.

My wife and I took these to Rome a while ago, with rain and wind in the forecast. I picked them up while we were sorting out luggage for the trip. That button has quite a kick! One press and the canopy is "up and ready", no fiddling around on the pavement. For something that folds down this small, the coverage and solid feel surprised me. They held up well in the wet, breezy weather we actually had. Not the cheapest choice, I'll admit. But I was glad we'd spent a bit more. I'd buy again!

Ray Glenn

Happy with this one.

Just as expected. Details are correct. Pink umbrella, black underneath, about 40cm folded, supplied with a carry sleeve. Fits in my larger handbag, very practical 👍 Nicely finished and straightforward to use. Everything was packed neatly. Happy with this one.

Jared Martin

It goes with my colour scheme and opens to a good size for me.

I picked the green one to have ready for my wedding if it rains. It goes with my colour scheme and opens to a good size for me. Looks sturdy too, and the shade is just what I expected from the photos! Hoping it stays dry that day, though I might use it for pictures regardless.

Cory Sparks

I mainly wanted it for shade and it does that nicely.

The photo made me expect a brighter white, whereas in person it's more of a warm cream white. Still a very pretty color. I mainly wanted it for shade and it does that nicely. My skin is very fair and I burn easily, so I like having something over me rather than relying only on lotion, especially when that feels greasy. It folds up for my bag, which means I can take it out whenever I want some shade.

Malik Pham

Overall, a decent umbrella.

The gray is fairly understated - that's what I was hoping for. I haven't owned this long enough to judge its life span, but my previous folding umbrella survived more than ten years of regular use, so this one has a lot to live up to. The construction looks tidy.It measures around 40 cm folded, which is worth checking against the space in your bag. The handle is an enclosed oval loop rather than the shape I'd imagined from the picture. I'm not completely sold on that shape for holding it, hence four stars. There is a sleeve included, although I tend not to bother with covers and will probably leave it at home. The button operates both ways: it opens the umbrella and folds the canopy shut. It doesn't shorten the shaft; that part needs to be pushed down manually before the next opening.**UPDATE**After carrying it around for a weekend, I notice the weight more than I did just trying it indoors. At roughly 390 g it's not outrageously heavy, but it isn't something I forget is in my bag. Overall, a decent umbrella.

Travis Pratt

Open it up though and there is a good amount of coverage.

Buying an umbrella without seeing it first has been a gamble for me, but this was a good choice... haha. Design and color: The gray looks neat and the finish is attractive. I initially wondered whether the style might be too feminine, but once opened it looks quite neutral. As a man I feel comfortable carrying it around. Durability: The supports underneath look substantial, more than I had pictured. It seems like it should manage a bit of wind well. The loop handle gives a firm grip and feels solid when holding it. Size: Being foldable made me expect something rather small. Open it up though and there is a good amount of coverage. It is a comfortable size for an adult man, without feeling squeezed underneath. For what I paid the finishing is very good. I think it will get plenty of use, whether it is raining or I just need some shade from strong sunshine.

Misty Massey

I like this so much.

I like this so much. There are Asian ornaments all through my place and this looks lovely among them. Kept looking round trying to settle on the right spot - I wanted it where I would actually see it, not tucked away. Something about it makes me think of sitting in a garden in Japan. Nice to have an ordinary umbrella that gives you a little daydream as well.

Lee Thornton

Probably see more use in spring than winter.

She wanted something that would keep her dry between the parking lot and work. This one is fine for that and she likes how it packs away. Not the giant umbrella she originally had in mind, but more convenient to carry. Probably see more use in spring than winter.

Chelsey Rogers

Bought as a present and she was thrilled when she opened it.

Bought as a present and she was thrilled when she opened it. Then her daughter started trying to claim it for herself, right there on Christmas Day - LOL. They were both so taken with it. I couldn't have asked for a better reaction, lots of laughing and a really happy gift recipient.

Mckenzie Christensen

Feels solid when it's up.

I'm enjoying this: walking in proper rain and not having it drip straight down my neck is a pleasure. You know how some umbrellas keep your head dry but somehow your shoulders are still soaked? This gives me decent COVER!Not a giant roof, but enough room to feel comfortable. It looks smart too, fine if you're dressed for work. Feels solid when it's up. Plenty of ribs holding the fabric, so it doesn't have that flimsy feeling when the weather gets a bit breezy.

Garrett Casey

Used it a number of times in the rain now.

Used it a number of times in the rain now. The frame feels strong and it hasn't been bothered by the gusts I've met. The sleeve is handy too. Only thing is the final push to shorten the pole takes some effort after closing the canopy, but otherwise I'm really pleased with it.

Ray Smith

It arrived when expected.

It arrived when expected. There's enough space underneath for an adult, and it gives my shoulders decent cover. I'm 5'3" so, it seems quite roomy to me. I can hold it comfortably without the fabric being right next to my face. The pink is bright and cheerful. Looks very pretty opened up.

Rita Nash

I can recommend it.

Paid 4,500 won in the sale and now it has gone up to 3,500 won. I have bought this automatic umbrella more than once and it has been useful each time. It has some weight, and after pressing the button to close the canopy you have to push the shaft in yourself. That takes a firm push, but is manageable for an adult. I would help children with that part. My earlier one is still working after over a year. This purchase is a spare rather than a replacement. I can recommend it.

Jaime Frazier

She loves carrying it.

I find it a fairly ordinary umbrella, and a little bulky for something called compact. My daughter, on the other hand, thinks pressing the button is the most exciting thing ever! She loves carrying it. If enthusiasm counted as a feature she'd give it full marks.

Krista Graves

Pleased with it and good value for her school things.

I have two granddaughters and one likes flashy things the other likes plain. Youngest needed an umbrella for school and picked this gray one. Then it rained at the weekend and she had to try it straight away. We hadn't even got ourselves ready before she was outside with it. That first little play was enough, it's been put aside for school since then. Pleased with it and good value for her school things.

Patty Coffey

I've had several people comment on the design too.

After roughly three years of use, I'm still glad I bought this umbrella. The push button has a nice positive feel and opens it reliably, and there's plenty of coverage for something that folds down. The neat design looks smart without being fussy, and the canopy has kept the rain off very well. I've had several people comment on the design too. For me it's a lovely mix of being useful and looking good, and I'd happily recommend it!

Wyatt Owen

Hoping it stays this good...

I enjoy colourful umbrellas, just not ones that look like they're meant for a child. The blue here is bright but still smart enough for work, which is exactly what I wanted. Feels nicely made too. I've had umbrellas struggle with heavy rain & wind before, so I appreciate the substantial feel of this one. Hoping it stays this good...

Daryl Peters

To me it feels substantial rather than awkward.

For anyone wanting decent coverage without carrying a long umbrella everywhere, this is a really good choice. It opens much wider than its folded size suggests and has kept me dry in proper rain. It's not the lightest thing to carry, so if every little bit of weight bothers you, bear that in mind. To me it feels substantial rather than awkward. I've came back looking for the same one because it has been such a useful umbrella and I don't want to start guessing with another type. My biggest problem is keeping track of where I put it...A little extra money seems fair for something that works well when I need it.

Stanley Knight

For the money, I'm glad I chose this one.

I picked this out for my boyfriend because I wanted an umbrella he'd actually like carrying without spending a lot. Beige was the colour I was after, and finding it at a sensible price made the decision pretty easy. He has ended up using it regularly, since living in the Sunshine State doesn't mean you escape the rain! Every so often he mentions how useful it has been, which is nice to hear after buying someone something practical. For the money, I'm glad I chose this one.

Mindy Andrade

The gray is lovely and the weight is quite manageable.

All the talk about getting it folded again almost put me off buying it. My experience: folding it away is NOT a battle. I press the button to gather the canopy, push the shaft in, then wrap the fabric neatly. It makes a tidy little bundle. The sleeve IS a tight fit if I haven't taken the time to smooth everything down. That isn't unusual with a compact umbrella, in my experience. Most days I leave the sleeve off and slip it into my purse anyway. What matters more to me is having some shade without carrying a full length umbrella around. The gray is lovely and the weight is quite manageable. I also like having that oval loop to hold onto. A little fuss with a case is worth it for something I actually enjoy using!

Stefanie Galloway

Really good for the price.

Of all the umbrellas I've had, this one is probably my favourite.Really good for the price. The closed oval loop handle is nicely shaped and the button is easy to get at.It feels lovely in the hand, though the grip could be a bit longer. The canopy covers enough that even my trousers stay dry.A breeze can catch it and give you a little pull.Water beads off the fabric well with hardly any left sitting there. It dries quicker than the last one I hadThe flexible rib frame feels solid. The button opens it with a good firm action. The fastening strap is on the short side so I have to get all the folds lined up neatly before it will meet. That's about my only complaint. The sleeve is snug as well and needs a bit of persuading to go on.Still, none of this effects how it works and I can see myself losing the sleeve anyway. All told I'm really pleased with it and think it's money well spent. If you're sitting there wondering, I'd say get it.

Amy Holland

Still an umbrella, not something I'd abuse in terrible weather.

For getting around a city, this is a practical umbrella that doesn't look cheap. Big enough for me without being awkward around everyone else on the sidewalk.- Build: Feels solid when opened, and the ribs have some give rather than feeling brittle. Still an umbrella, not something I'd abuse in terrible weather.- Looks: The beige is understated, and the oval handle is a nice change. Looks more expensive than it was to me.- Price: Reasonable enough that I don't spend the whole evening worrying about leaving it somewhere, but nice enough that I do want to keep track of it.

Tammie Escobar

This suits me very well.

This suits me very well. I've only taken it out a few times, so these are first impressions, but the whole thing feels substantial. I have fairly large hands and the oval loop is comfortable to grip without feeling fiddly. The plain beige appearance suits my taste too; I don't want an umbrella that makes a big production of itself. The button action has been smooth, both putting the canopy up and drawing it closed. You do still push the telescoping section together yourself, which is straightforward. Once it's open, the part overhead, the canopy I suppose, gives me enough room without having to hunch my shoulders in. As a man looking for a practical everyday umbrella, I am very happy with this.

Christy Blackwell

A very satisfying umbrella.

A very satisfying umbrella. The shaft and ribs are not too heavy, but there is a firm feeling to them. It is useful for rain as well as making shade. When putting it away the canopy folds with the button, then the shaft needs pressing down by hand, so please remember that. (Folding umbrella people will understand~~) For my personal use I can recommend this one. I intend to take care of it and use it a lot.

Bobby Morris

Still, it gives lovely shade and that's what I wanted!

Needed something for shade in this hot weather and decided to try an umbrella. It looks just like the picture and I'm happy with the appearance, so that part was easy. The button does its bit fine..it's getting everything tidy afterwards that takes me soooooo long. The canopy shuts with the button, then I press the telescoping part down myself. That's no problem, but arranging the folds neatly enough for the sleeve feels like it takes FOREVER. my goodness I can never get it looking as tidy as it started. Still, it gives lovely shade and that's what I wanted!

Danny Weber

So far I couldn't be more pleased.

I didn't expect quite so much coverage from something that folds down. My daughter is delighted (she thinks it is enormous) and has been turning round with it above her head since we opened it. Everything looks solidly put together, though it's early days for judging how long it will last. So far I couldn't be more pleased.

Hayden Velez

If green's a colour you like then this is a nice choice

I picked up three umbrellas together and this one's my favourite! Goes in my duffle/purse and held up nicely on the New York trip. The underside is black under the green top, hadn't really noticed that before using it, not sure what the reason is but looks fine?If green's a colour you like then this is a nice choice

Ricardo Cowan

I would be happy to recommend it and would choose it again.

The construction looks very good The handle feels solid and is comfortable in my hand, though the closed oval shape is different from the hooks I have used before.. There is a useful amount of cover overhead. On a busy sidewalk you still have to mind other people, but for walking my dog around the neighborhood it suits me very well. That was the main reason I wanted it, something dependable for the usual rain and breezy weather. The ribs have a reassuring bit of give rather than feeling rigid. I like being able to drop the canopy with a button when we get home. The pole then needs compressing by hand, which is straightforward. My only small quibble is getting it wrapped tidily enough for the sleeve; I find it easier if I take a moment to arrange the folds. Once covered, it is easy to put aside. I would be happy to recommend it and would choose it again.

Kendra Bernard

I've had more umbrellas give up on me than I care to count.

I've had more umbrellas give up on me than I care to count. This one has kept going through years of use, including rain and some blustery days in different parts of the country. The frame still opens properly and I haven't had it flip on me. The fabric is beginning to show its age a little, but considering how long I've used it, that is hardly something I can complain about.

Zoe Gamble

Feels properly put together and opens out to a useful size.

Feels properly put together and opens out to a useful size. A bit bulky for a compact and there's more weight than you might expect, but that seems a fair trade for the coverage. The frame feels substantial, not like something I'll need to replace straight away.

Laura Daniels

Couldn't be happier when the beige umbrella arrived!

I'd already paid more for the same umbrella in a shop, then found this one for much less. Was a bit nervous cos I don't usually order from sellers I don't know, but decided it was worth trying. Couldn't be happier when the beige umbrella arrived! It looked and felt like the same one, not a cheaper substitute. I returned the expensive one and kept this instead. Happy to save a bit of money for once.

Shawn Cruz

Thank you for a quality item.

Hello! I am very satisfied with the umbrella and will be taking it with my wife for the European summer. It is a practical size, enough cover for one of us and not too much to carry. The opening is very quick and the frame looks strong. I am sorry now that I didn't get two, one for each of us. I expect it to last well. Thank you for a quality item. I've included a photo by the door so the size is easier to see.

The dark underside is a nice touch and it gives me comfortable shade.

I needed something to use as a sunshade, and this has turned out better made than I expected for the money. The dark underside is a nice touch and it gives me comfortable shade. Everything moves smoothly and feels properly put together. I've paid more for umbrellas that didn't feel this solid. Once folded, it goes back in the sleeve without a fight, and it fits in my larger handbag which is what I wanted. Useful to have that much cover available without carrying a long umbrella.I'd be happy recommending it to friends and would buy another.

Jim Dawson

This is a sturdy umbrella yes.

This is a sturdy umbrella yes. You can see the connected sections when it's extended (that's normal for a folding one right?). Recent weeks of rain have been handled nicely.Handy automatic button too. After folding the canopy, you press the pole back in before opening again.Takes a lot less room than a non folding umbrella.

Olivia Johns

It isn't a tiny umbrella, even put away.

This stays in my bag most days, and comes along to the gym/pool if rain looks likely. I do wish it took up less space & weighed a little less. Carrying it all day when it hasn't rained makes that more noticeable. Still, the really flimsy umbrellas I've used haven't been much of a bargain once the weather turns. This feels like a reasonable compromise. I keep the sleeve on it in the bag, mainly to stop the folded fabric catching on other things. It isn't a tiny umbrella, even put away. If it's already raining hard before I leave, I would generally prefer something larger; this is more for having an umbrella with me rather than being caught without one. UPDATE: Having used it a while, the closing routine deserves a mention. There are plenty of ribs underneath, and I find it helps to arrange the folds before putting the sleeve back on. The button brings the canopy in, not the whole telescoping shaft. That last part needs a push by hand. Initially I was expecting one press to leave it completely ready to pack away, but it's straightforward once you know what to do. Taking a few seconds over folding makes putting it away much less of a nuisance. Still a little bulky for my everyday bag, but useful enough that it stays there.

William Patel

Two people can share it comfortably.

I love this enough that I'm thinking about getting a few for friends as gifts. Two people can share it comfortably. The open-close button is brilliant for hopping on and off public transport.Only thing to watch is your grip on really windy days, or you'll end up running down the road trying to catch it.

Ashley Barr

After years of use, this is still the umbrella I reach for.

After years of use, this is still the umbrella I reach for. My previous ones never managed to stay straight for long, whereas this has held its shape. I've carried it in different parts of the country and had it out on plenty of breezy, wet days. There are a few scuffs on the handle now, but they don't affect using it. Given its age, that seems a very small thing.

Ann Chan

My one small reservation is how long it remains when folded.

There's a good amount of room under this umbrella for one person without having to tuck your shoulders in. A press of the button has it up quickly, and the fabric comes down neatly when you're finished. The pink is a cheerful colour and it isn't tiring to carry. Its sleeve slides on and off without a struggle, which I appreciate. I've found it straightforward to put away and the frame seems capable of handling our rainy Texas days. My one small reservation is how long it remains when folded. I can't get it comfortably inside my big handbag or the backpack I normally use. That means carrying it separately sometimes, but otherwise it's a very nice umbrella and I'm glad I have it.

Albert Hamilton

For the money I paid, the umbrella is adequate.

For the money I paid, the umbrella is adequate. I would not put it in the higher price bracket just because the design looks a little different. It keeps the rain off and folds away, which is what I need, but neither of those things makes it exceptional. Not a bad umbrella, simply not as special as I expected.

Joseph Costa

She was pleased with it.

Bought this as a birthday present for my cousin. She enjoys this sort of simple design and I wanted something she would actually use, as we get plenty of rain here in Houston. The umbrella looks nicely finished and opens to a useful size. She was pleased with it.

Jacob Stephenson

They feel nicely put together and fold away neatly.

I ordered 3 for Christmas gifts and there was a little confusion with the order at first. Thankfully it was sorted out and they were ready to give at Christmas. My daughters were delighted with their new umbrellas. They feel nicely put together and fold away neatly. Pleased I chose these and will consider them for the rest of the family next Christmas.
