No signs of wear yet, so I'm pleased overall.

Afternoon rain in South Florida means I need an umbrella handy most days, preferably one I can put in my small messenger bag. This one fits, although it takes up a little more room than I'd hoped. It feels much better put together than the one I had before and has been reliable in the rain so far. No signs of wear yet, so I'm pleased overall. A practical choice if you want something fairly compact but still substantial.

the oval handle feels solid, will take a little getting used to.

the oval handle feels solid, will take a little getting used to. canopy fabric is quite dense, plenty of flexible ribs underneath, black inside, comes with a sleeve, not the lightest, button works as it should, overall very pleased, rain and wind will be the real test.

Considered the lower priced ones but ended up choosing these again.

Considered the lower priced ones but ended up choosing these again. We play a lot of golf and usually walk the course, so a bit of relief from the heat matters. These make it feel noticeably cooler on the really hot days. Not tried them in windy weather yet so I can't say how they'd cope with that. For keeping the sun off while we walk, they're doing the job!

I gave this one a try for the price.

I want the open measurement when buying an umbrella, not only a picture. That tells me more than someone saying it is big.I gave this one a try for the price. About 105cm when open, so it seems alright for one person. Looks decent but I haven't taken it out yet.

Not quite what I first pictured, but a compromise I'm very happy with.

I wanted something pale for rainy days (they're gloomy enough already), rather than another dark umbrella. A transparent canopy was my first thought, but I don't much like those deep dome shapes. The beige on this one gives me the lighter look I wanted without that shape. It isn't see-through, of course, and the underside is black, so don't buy it expecting to look through it. Thinking about it, a canopy people can actually notice is probably a sensible thing on a crowded pavement anyway. Not quite what I first pictured, but a compromise I'm very happy with.

I've been using this for a few months now.

I've been using this for a few months now. Not a burden to carry. I mostly wanted shade, and it has been really useful through our hot spell in Southern California. The shape is more practical than glamorous, but that's fine with me. I hold it lower if a breeze picks up. It also came along to England and Scotland and kept the rain off nicely. I'm planning to get one for my mother as well.

Kim Keller

A nicely made umbrella.

A nicely made umbrella. beige, just like the picture. The outer packaging was torn when it arrived, which didn't make a very good impression. Luckily the umbrella inside was fine and works well. My five stars are for the umbrella itself, I would rate the packaging much lower than that.

Garrett Barker

Much nicer than struggling with something huge!

Rain seems to arrive sideways whenever I'm out, so just holding an umbrella over my head never quite works. I angle this one toward it and there's enough room underneath to stay comfortable without pulling it right over my eyes. Much nicer than struggling with something huge! This is my second one-the first came as a gift. The button makes getting it up in a hurry so simple. A useful gift or something to keep for yourself!Ready for the next shower

Clinton Mckay

This one gives that impression.

After spending rather too much on golf umbrellas that didn't last, I wanted something that felt properly put together. This one gives that impression. I've had enough of flimsy frames that aren't worth trying to fix when they go. The ribs on this have a reassuring amount of flex, and opening and folding it is a smooth business. I can see it being useful for quite a few seasons.

My daughter is delighted with her umbrella!

My daughter is delighted with her umbrella! Pink is already a favourite of hers (there's plenty of it around here!) so this has gone down very well. She keeps announcing that it might rain because she wants to bring it out. She's 4, so I handle opening it and packing it away, but she loves helping hold it. It's had some lovely comments too. A cute umbrella for us to take out together, not a little toy one. :)

Larry Mathews

Good rain cover and pretty too.

I wanted an umbrella for the rain, but I also have trouble with balance, so I didn't want something huge to manage. This folds down nicely and the oval handle is comfortable in my hand. It isn't a cane and I wouldn't lean my weight on it. I know people carry long umbrellas about in London, but compact suits me better here in Cali. Good rain cover and pretty too. I had something a bit frillier in mind, still this is cute. I picked blue and might try another colour.

Fits in the bottle holder on my backpack, which is handy for hiking...or just getting across campus. Enough shelter when a shower catches me out. It feels a little light in the hand, but that's the tradeoff for something easy to bring along. Ideal as a "might need it"

Francisco Beck

There is a solid feel to it, too.

At last I feel properly covered: I can walk through rain and my jacket stays DRY.And I mean dry across the shoulders, not just a little patch on top while everything else gets soaked! It's a decent size!Looks smart enough to carry when I'm dressed for work. There is a solid feel to it, too. The ribs seem able to flex a bit, which is reassuring when a breeze catches it. Much nicer to use than I anticipated.

James Owen

Probably the most solid little umbrella I've owned.

Probably the most solid little umbrella I've owned. Handy for everyday use and fits in my backpack without trouble. The shaft feels strong and the grip suits me well (I'm 5'9"). Button opening is excellent, and it gathers the canopy too. A nice bonus over just automatic opening. Would happily recommend it!

Would have been lovely in the photos too!

We ordered cream white umbrellas for the wedding party with rain in the forecast. As it turned out they stayed folded all day, which was a relief, but i was pleased to have them ready. They look smart and give a good amount of cover when opened. Would have been lovely in the photos too!

This feels well put together, and for the price I'm happy with it.

This feels well put together, and for the price I'm happy with it. My gripes are fairly small, as a woman I do notice a bit more weight in my purse than with my previous umbrella, not awful, just noticeable. The folded umbrella is also thicker around than I really want. i.e. on a quick walk when there's no rain you sometimes just carry it in your hand...I find this one a little chunky to hold comfortably like that. It isn't a big problem, but it doesn't feel quite as easy to carry as my old one did. Neither point would stop me using it, maybe it just suits bigger hands better.

Dawn Rich

Handy for a bit of shade when walking round the golf course.

Handy for a bit of shade when walking round the golf course. It works well in rain too, although playing golf wet isn't my idea of fun. A touch weightier than I expected from a folding umbrella, but it feels solid. With my gear on the push cart I'm not carrying it the whole time, so that doesn't bother me.

The umbrellas feel as though they should serve our church well.

The umbrellas feel as though they should serve our church well. We thought of keeping some on hand after a miserable Sunday morning with wet snow, watching people cross the parking lot with nothing over their heads. One of the men suggested having an umbrella ready so someone could go out and escort them to the door. We looked into larger ones with printing on them, but that was becoming more expensive than we needed. Buying three plain green ones seemed a sensible answer. They fold away for storage and open to a useful size for helping somebody across the lot. Our building sits on a windy hill, so we will see how they fare there. On first inspection the frames feel reassuringly firm.

Maureen Davidson

I chose a compact umbrella after all.

Hard to find much to complain about here. It looks more expensive than it was and has kept the rain off me nicely. A touch more coverage would be nice, but the size was given clearly so I can't hold that against it. I chose a compact umbrella after all. Money well spent.

Cody Sandoval

The quality seems very good.

Received in good order. Feels strong and substantial. Closing the canopy is by button, then shortening the shaft takes a firm push. I suspect my wife will leave it open between uses. There is plenty of sun here in Thailand and room to store it. The quality seems very good.

Benjamin Morris

So far I've only tried it indoors, not taken it through rain or wind.

First impression is that it's substantial when open and nicely put together. The button action feels positive, which I appreciate. So far I've only tried it indoors, not taken it through rain or wind. I'll change this review if actual use gives me a reason to.

Katelyn Miranda

It looks smart and feels substantial.

Never thought I'd have much of an opinion about an umbrella, but I really like this one. It looks smart and feels substantial. Normally I go for a big golf umbrella, which isn't much fun in a crowded street. This is a sensible size between those and the tiny folding ones. Looks better in real life too. Easy to open and close, with plenty over me even though I'm not a small person.

I bought this for my mother in assisted living, she uses a electric wheelchair and likes being outside in the sunshine. She sometimes stays out longer than she realises and was getting sunburnt. Having this to hold over herself gives her some shade, and she says she's cooler sitting there too.

Johnathan Velazquez

So far it has kept her dry and everything feels sound.

The less positive reviews made me hesitate, but we needed an umbrella after all the rain and flooding locally. I'm glad I went ahead. My 3 y/o daughter thinks it's wonderful and likes being under it when we go out. It isn't toddler sized, so I carry it for her rather than expecting her to manage it. So far it has kept her dry and everything feels sound. I can angle it so she can see where we're walking, which matters more than I thought it would.

Caroline Bradley

Definitely recommended.

We've been using this for a good while, and, despite everybody insisting that North Carolina isn't normally quite this soggy, the dogs have needed rainy trips around the yard at least weekly through our first year here. The umbrella lives near the back door so whoever is on dog duty can grab it. Most of my cheap ones start looking tired almost immediately. This one still opens neatly and looks much the same as when we got it, even with all that regular use. Can't ask for much more from something I use for such an ordinary job. Definitely recommended.

Honestly !!

First Thing I Want To Say About This Umbrella ** The Handle Doesn't Have Any Odd Odour On Mine & Using The Button Is Easy !! Honestly !! This Is A Really Nice Folding Umbrella And It Feels Like A Properly Made One, Not Something I'll Be Fighting With In The Rain. I'm Pleased With The Cover It Gives & The Way It Feels In My Hand. I Expect To Get Plenty Of Use From It Because I Will LOOK AFTER It. The Only Real Risk Is Me Leaving It Behind Somewhere Again.

Clifford Marshall

First is closing it all the way.

This umbrella has been good to use and comfortable to hold, which was what I wanted really. I was surprised that carrying it didn't feel like much of a burden. My girlfriend is quite petite and she hasn't found the weight a problem either. Having a button to open it is useful, although I do pause a second before walking out with it so everything is spread out properly. After nearly eight months of use I haven't had any mechanical trouble. There are two little things that keeps me from giving it the extra star. First is closing it all the way. Pressing the button folds the canopy, then the telescoping part needs pushing in by hand. It works fine, but when I'm in a hurry I wish that last bit was done for me too. Second is getting it into the sleeve. You have to wrap the fabric fairly neatly or it is a bit of a squeeze. Not a big problem, just something I notice when putting it away. Otherwise I don't regret getting it. The cover is enough for what I need and it folds to a sensible size for carrying about. I did consider whether a bigger umbrella would have been better value, but that would also mean having something larger to keep with me. For everyday use I'd rather have this size, even with the couple of minor annoyances.

Jim Luna

My gripe is getting it neatly packed up rather than using it.

This umbrella looks really cute and has felt reassuring in wet, blustery weather. My gripe is getting it neatly packed up rather than using it. Once the canopy is down, I have to spend a minute arranging the folds before it makes a nice slim bundle. When I'm in a hurry I tend to carry it closed and sort out the tidying later. It's a good umbrella, just not something I can bundle up neatly without paying attention. It does fold down into a manageable size, which I appreciate when storing it. So if you're not bothered by a little fuss after use, I'd recommend it. The coverage is good and it doesn't feel flimsy, I just wish the putting-away part was as quick as pressing the button.

Maurice Pratt

I'd happily recommend it.

Picked this umbrella for travelling because a long golf umbrella just won't fit in my suitcase. I'm away a lot with recruiting and golf tournaments, so leaving an umbrella behind isn't really an option. This folds down small enough to pack but gives me decent cover when opened. I've had it out in some wind too and it has held up well.I'd happily recommend it.

Martin Hampton

I've found this handy out on the golf course!

I've found this handy out on the golf course! A quick press gets it open while I'm beside the push cart. Packing it away is straightforward too: collapse the canopy with the button, then press the telescoping section shut. Best surprise was being able to get it back into its sleeve without wrestling. Into the golf bag it goes. Hoping for plenty more use.

Tammy Booker

No dramatic confrontation required.

Anyone who can slip between raindrops probably regards umbrellas as an admission of defeat. The rest of us, having spent rather less time on rooftops, can appreciate arriving somewhere without water trickling down our collars. There is still the temptation to press that opening button with the solemn expression of somebody revealing a secret weapon. Worth remembering that the achievement here is deploying a canopy, not acquiring several years of martial arts training. This distinction may be lost on the average pedestrian after two action films and a particularly nourishing bowl of noodles. A suspicious shadow becomes a pirate, a shortcut becomes a mission, and suddenly keeping dry seems insufficiently ambitious. Fortunately the flexible ribs belong to an umbrella and have no interest in participating. Even the closed oval handle, despite looking rather purposeful, is somewhere to put your hand rather than evidence of a warrior bloodline. Ninjas probably grip things through sheer disapproval anyway, so another feature wasted on them. Where it succeeds is the much less exhausting business of looking composed. The canopy gives good cover, it packs down neatly, and you can enter a shop looking as though the weather was anticipated rather than narrowly survived. No dramatic confrontation required. Let the lurking villains wonder why you aren't dripping on the floor. That sort of quiet advantage is quite enough for ordinary people. Five stars from the pavement No secret combat points awarded

this umbrella feels solid!

this umbrella feels solid! its a good size opened out but still packs up neatly enough to carry around. the button is great for opening it and folding the canopy when getting on the bus, then I push the shaft in myself. seems like good value for something this sturdy. liked it enough to order a second one already! definitely worth a look!

Build quality is excellent.

Coverage is a little limited compared with a full length umbrella, but reasonable for something that folds up. I keep it in the car for short rainy walks and still prefer a larger umbrella when I'm going further. Build quality is excellent. Around 105cm across when open and 40cm folded gives a better idea of the size than just calling it compact. At about 390g it feels substantial rather than flimsy. I'd choose a softer feel on the handle if I could (small quibble). The closed oval shape is quite practical though. Has coped well with the windy days I've used it on.

Steve Moran

Would recommend.

For a friend's 22nd birthday, I wanted something useful that was still a bit of fun. This umbrella feels solid and the canopy pops out when you press the button. A decent size over your head, though I think a backpack might stick out. I carried it round the house and felt suitably armed against any indoor rainfall (Well, somebody had to check it before handing it over!) The closed oval handle is comfortable to carry and a little different, which I liked. Would recommend.PS The blue looks nice on its own, but I put a little metallic nail polish on the handle to personalise it. Nothing elaborate, just a little extra shine. Came out pretty cool!

Drew Ford

It gives good shade, no problem there.

It gives good shade, no problem there. The weight is my problem. I need something over me whenever im out in the sun, and holding this up for long stretches gets tiring for me. I'm not really buying it for wet weather. A lighter version would suit me better, because the actual cover it gives is very good.

Kristi Pugh

Brilliant!

Brilliant! It's already coped with some horrible windy rain in London, where I've gone through more little umbrellas than I care to remember. There's enough coverage that I'm not just keeping the top of my head dry. Folded up, it does take more room than the tiny pocket ones, both in length and around the bundle. But you notice the difference in how substantial it feels once it's open, so I'm fine with that. It looks smart too. Only thing I'd change is a bit more length to the part you hold. My hands fit, and they're fairly big, but i keep wishing for just a little extra grip space. Smaller hands probably wouldn't find it an issue at all. For me that's a very small niggle against an umbrella I'm otherwise delighted with.

Mitchell Krueger

I love using this umbrella as shade.

I love using this umbrella as shade. It feels a bit like taking a shady tree along with me! There's shade over my arms and chest, not just my face, and I feel less hot underneath it. I still get pleased every time it goes up!Getting used to opening it and putting it down took a little while. On the first day I was rushing for a bus and tripped while trying to close it. I went down, but the umbrella came through fine. (Luckily I did too.) That gave me a pretty good impression of how tough it is!My wish is that it took up less room and weighed a little less. As it is, I tend to take it only when there's a long stretch of sun ahead of me. With a smaller, lighter one I'd ust keep it with me all the time, for those unexpected moments. Even with that little drawback, I'm glad I bought it and have been very happy using it.

Kathryn Sheppard

It suited the occasion without looking fussy.

I bought the umbrella with my daughter's February 2013 wedding in mind. With Michigan weather there was no telling whether we'd get rain, snow or something in between, and I wanted to have something ready. We used it outside for the photographs after the ceremony and it looked lovely with everything. It suited the occasion without looking fussy. It is a comfortable size for one person, but trying to cover two people properly would be asking a bit much. That is my main reservation, rather than how it worked. My other daughter is getting married in October, so this will be coming along for that as well. Overall it did the job I bought it for and was easy to carry between pictures. It looked BEAUTIFUL in the photos around downtown Detroit!

Tricia Fox

He seems very taken with watching it pop open.

My son keeps asking to take this umbrella on our walks, even if he's riding in the stroller rather than walking. He seems very taken with watching it pop open. I like the button and the closed loop handle, although it's a bit much for him to manage on his own. It even came in handy for his class photos in a way I hadn't expected. I stood behind the photographer and turned the open umbrella around to catch his classmate's attention. It got the smile everyone had been waiting for!

Faith Cooley

It has also been a shield and a small hideout around the house.

This was on my son's Christmas list, and apparently keeping rain off was only part of what he had in mind. It has also been a shield and a small hideout around the house. He's six, so I suppose I should have seen that coming. By March it has seen quite a lot of opening up, not all of it weather related, and everything is still in one piece. We've had a wet, strangely warm Texas winter so there has been actual umbrella use too. He thinks the loop handle is interesting and takes his ownership of it quite seriously. The size is more generous than a little children's umbrella, but he is pleased with it. I was after something he would actually want to use, and this has certainly managed that.

Louis Mckay

I've had some lovely comments about it!

I probably shouldn't be so excited over an umbrella, but yes I picked this for MYSELF, not a child. I have always liked carrying a parasol and haven't grown out of that at all. I'm slim and there is more than enough room over me, without needing some enormous umbrella. I'd recommend it to anyone else who still enjoys that feeling. I've had some lovely comments about it!

Lawrence Hull

They've all been pleased too.

My husband tried one first and liked it so much that we have since given them to friends and people at work. They've all been pleased too.The oval handle is a little unusual without being over the top,and the quality is nice.It has enough character to stand out without looking silly.

Dwayne Vaughn

Never thought I'd get excited over an umbrella, but THIS ONE IS GREAT!

Never thought I'd get excited over an umbrella, but THIS ONE IS GREAT! Nicely presented and everything feels well made--not just nice to look at. I ordered another to leave in the car after trying the first. They've had a few proper soakings already and have come through them looking and working just fine.

Tricia Lee

Was so pleased when I opened this cream white umbrella!

Was so pleased when I opened this cream white umbrella! It looks nicer than I was expecting, enough that I wanted to leave a review. The fabric feels good and the colour is soft without looking dull. It was a gift for my mother and she is delighted with it. She's mainly using it for shade, and it opens out to give her plenty of cover. Feels like something she will get a lot of use from. Should be handy for rainy days too :) Now I'm thinking I need one of my own. Such a pretty, useful thing to have :)

Jane Carrillo

I expect to get plenty of use out of it.

Our winters bring plenty of wet weather, so an umbrella gets a lot of use here. I like how this one looks, but the useful part is how much cover it gives me. The fabric and frame feel properly made rather than flimsy. I expect to get plenty of use out of it. For the price, it seems a worthwhile buy for all those rainy winter days.

Terrance Valdez

Everything was in lovely condition when it arrived.

Has it been four months already? Something like that, and mine is still doing well. Everything was in lovely condition when it arrived. I've used it for shade on hot days and in rain, and it has been great for both. Not taken it out in hail or snow or any ridiculous wind situation, because honestly that isn't what I bought it for. I've seen people complain when umbrellas get pushed around in really nasty weather, but ANY umbrella has limits. I wouldn't expect a compact one to be a storm shelter. Treat it like something you want to keep, let it dry, don't ask the impossible of it, and it's a lovely thing to have <3

Taylor Cross

Wish I had picked this one up sooner!

Rain is part of life here in the Northwest, so having a decent umbrella matters. This one has done a good job, and the green is such a pretty shade. I admit I'm a bit obsessed with color and have a collection of umbrellas, probably more than I need. Nothing wrong with a little variety though! This has quickly become one I reach for often. Wish I had picked this one up sooner!

Lindsay Hensley

The canopy material is good quality.

Had my first try with it today. I liked it a lot. The canopy material is good quality. The pole holding the umbrella is firm enough. The ribs look regular and strong. It behaved well with some wind. I would only prefer the pole a little longer, for how I hold it. Overall, I am satisfied, very good quality for the money.

Morgan Sanders

The blue is lovely and I think it looks cute all folded up!

It opens straight away with the button ,and pressing again folds the canopy (the middle pole is still long ,you push that down by hand after. I was expecting it to go shorter by itself ,but it is just how it works. The blue is lovely and I think it looks cute all folded up! There is a good amount of cover when you open it ,which is my favorite bit since it doesn't look so big folded. The handle is comfortable too ,just a bit different from ones I had before. Overall I like it ,but would prefer less pushing at the end when packing away. Very practically for carrying around.

Johnathan Davies

The folded size is more than I really wanted.

The folded size is more than I really wanted. We like the amount of cover when it is open, but I had expected something that would take up less room when put away. My husband took it out on a very rainy afternoon and had no trouble with it at all. That part is satisfactory! I found a suitable place to keep it, so the size is no longer a practical issue. It is a good umbrella otherwise, just larger to carry than I personally prefer.
