I tend to keep umbrellas for years - it's losing them or somebody taking them that makes me replace them! This one feels solid too - copes with gusts, goes in my bag, and I like the button opening and closing. My reservation is the coverage feels SMALL. I'm under 5'5" and in rain it feels like my shoulders are covered without much extra room.So it's convenient, but I'm leaning towards a wider umbrella that will still pack down neatly. The whole idea of men's and women's umbrellas doesn't make much sense to me either. Odd.

overall it seems a very fair buy for what you get.
four stars from me for the smart appearance, decent coverage and solid feel. it's not especially heavy either, which is welcome in something i carry around.the handle is a little bulkier than i'd ideally want, which is what keeps me from giving five stars. still, at this price i wasn't expecting something that disappears into a pocket. overall it seems a very fair buy for what you get.

Nice to look at.
Nice to look at. Canopy closes on button, the rod I press down myself. Handle feels unusual in hand. Close fit in the sleeve. Somehow this is the one I keep. Do not regret buying. Between the two umbrellas I left this for myself. Maybe not most comfortable for me, but there is love for it.

This has been such an improvement!
I wanted something dependable for the walk to school, because getting soaked before the day has even started is no fun. This has been such an improvement! I've had rain and gusts on the way in and the canopy has stayed in shape, with me dry underneath. I still hang onto it firmly when the wind picks up, but I'm delighted with how it has handled things!

Might end up getting another.
Picked up two because I like having an umbrella handy and the kids keep walking off with mine. These are nicely finished, feel sturdy and the canopy opens and shuts easily with the button(!). They give me plenty of cover in the rain without being awkward to carry. Might end up getting another.

So nice seeing her excited about going out with an umbrella!!!!!
My four year old keeps asking to use it ... up again, down again...lol. She is delighted! It looks so cute opened out and feels well put together. I do the button with her, as it is a proper umbrella and not a little toy. She loves watching it spread out over her and is just as pleased carrying it folded. So nice seeing her excited about going out with an umbrella!!!!!

Good build for what it costs, would recommend!
Needed something better for windy rain, the old umbrellas never seemed to keep me or my backpack properly covered.Even a short walk used to leave things damp. This one feels sturdy and i've been much drier walking with it.Good build for what it costs, would recommend!

This time I went for a folding model instead.
My college umbrella used to leave both my books and me dry, which is what I was hoping to find again. This time I went for a folding model instead. The coverage is fairly close to what I wanted, and it's handy to carry. For ordinary showers it has been fine so far. No windy downpours since it arrived, though, so I'll have to see how it gets on when autumn reaches Seattle.

Best umbrella I've had in a long time.
Best umbrella I've had in a long time. Opens out to a useful size without being a huge thing to carry, and it has felt steady in the wind I've encountered. A slightly softer handle would make it even nicer to hold but that's a small thing. The canopy fabric seems good, rain beads on it and most of the water shakes away.......I leave it open to finish drying afterwards. Would certainly recommend this one

This one gives good cover and feels reassuringly sturdy in normal use.
I wanted something more substantial than the small umbrellas I've used before, especially when the rain comes with a breeze. This one gives good cover and feels reassuringly sturdy in normal use. It is a bit heavy and a nuisance to carry sometimes, but I think the solid feel makes up for that.

This umbrella has been a completely different experience.
Living opposite a park in Manhattan, I have a rather particular reason for being fussy about umbrellas. The open space is lovely, but once the air comes across it and meets the buildings, it gets pushed down the narrow streets. You can be walking quite comfortably and turn a corner into something entirely different. I have had bags pulled about and have chased things that slipped out of my hand. It is the sort of thing I would otherwise think only happens in a film. I explain all this because the weather on those streets is not always what you would expect from looking out the window.
For a long time I kept buying inexpensive umbrellas, thinking there was no point spending more on something the wind would probably ruin anyway. Some barely made it through their first outing before folding themselves backwards. Then there was the business of trying to get home with a useless umbrella and wet shopping. You see plenty of discarded ones around here after bad weather, so it was not just me having this problem.
This umbrella has been a completely different experience. I still pay attention to which way I am holding it, and I keep a firm grip on the loop handle. But I have walked those same streets with it and arrived home without another umbrella to throw away. There have been corners where I braced myself for that familiar feeling of the whole thing giving up, and it simply carried on doing its job. That matters much more to me than any fancy description.
After many outings I was still reaching for this one rather than the older umbrellas in the house. The button opening is handy, especially when it starts raining while I am already outside, but it is the frame holding its shape that won me over. I kept expecting to discover some little weakness with more use. Instead it became the umbrella I trusted without giving it much thought.
Then I managed to leave it on a bus. Honestly, after all that, losing it myself was particularly annoying. I have others here, but I do not feel the same confidence taking them out. I came back to get another of these and read a few unhappy reviews, which is what made me finally write mine. I cannot account for somebody else's experience. I can say that mine earned its place by the door, and I want that same umbrella there again.

Nothing has pulled apart or bent and the fabric still looks good.
We don't get a lot of rain where I live, so these haven't had a huge amount of use. On the handful of outings so far they've felt sturdy, including when there was a breeze. Coverage is comfortable for one, and two of us can squeeze underneath if we stay close together. Nothing has pulled apart or bent and the fabric still looks good. I do want to be clear that this is after about five uses, not months of hard weather. For that limited use I'm satisfied.

The frame seems strong, and the blue is lovely too.
My son and I were caught in a downpour that turned my old umbrella inside out, so I was after something sturdier without carrying a long umbrella everywhere. I also wanted room to shelter him while I'm holding him. This one gives us a useful amount of cover and packs away more neatly than I expected. The frame seems strong, and the blue is lovely too. Almost looking forward to the next wet day so I can take it out!

The gray works nicely with the theme.
These are going to my bridesmaids for our starry-night wedding and I'm hoping they'll be as taken with them as I am! The gray works nicely with the theme. Pretty AND useful, which is what I wanted. I opened one to have a look and it feels quite sturdy for a bag-sized 'brelly, though I haven't taken it into the rain yet. Nice to have something they can keep afterwards for an unexpected shower.Arrived quickly too!

I'm sticking to keeping the rain off, though...
Everyday things that feel substantial have always appealed to me, even with that silly thought of self defence in the back of my mind. This umbrella has a reassuring feel and is pleasant to carry. I'm sticking to keeping the rain off, though...not volunteering to test any other uses!
Jonathon Martinez
In use, the umbrella has worked without any trouble.
Take a moment with the closing sequence, as pressing the button draws in the canopy but does not collapse the telescoping stem. . . Once the fabric is closed, compress the stem towards the handle until it catches, ready for the next opening. There is no need to keep pressing the button during that part.
In use, the umbrella has worked without any trouble.

This a nicely put together umbrella.
Looking over the construction, I think this is a good umbrella for keeping the sun off. About 105cm across when open, enough cover for me without being an enormous thing to carry. The handle is a closed oval loop rather than a hook, and feels solid in the hand. What interested me most was the 30 flexible ribs, the long 'spokes' underneath. On older umbrellas that was usually the part I worried about first. Thin rigid pieces can bend and then the whole canopy sits wrong. These have a little give which seems a more sensible approach to me. Reminds me of those old metal rakes with the bent teeth. I wouldn't call anything unbreakable, but the canopy looks well supported here.At roughly 390g it's also quite manageable. This a nicely put together umbrella.

I bought this for walking around the golf course.
I bought this for walking around the golf course. There's enough canopy to give me useful cover without carrying a huge golf umbrella. It has stayed steady in the ordinary wind I've used it in, which was important to me.I also take it to college now because I spend so much time walking between buildings. If I hold it in the right position it covers me and most of my backpack nicely. Having something that folds down is worth a lot when I get indoors. It's a good size for my everyday walking (although sharing it would mean getting rather friendly with whoever is next to me).

Very useful if you're out walking in the city a lot.
My girlfriend was the one who first showed me these, and we now have a few dotted round the house and office. Very useful if you're out walking in the city a lot. New York can give an umbrella a hard time, especially when a gust comes along between buildings. This one has been dependable for me without that flimsey feel. Among the better umbrellas I've had, and I'm happy to keep one close by.
Shelly Richmond
well i used mine in the rain yesterday and my cloths were dry.
i spent ages looking for something decent without paying too much. a review saying water got through had me wondering. well i used mine in the rain yesterday and my cloths were dry. 1-the canopy gives me plenty of cover and 2-it does NOT leek.so for my needs the size and quality are just right, and i'm glad i picked it.
Dorothy Moran
Smaller than ideal, but a solid purchase.
Feels sturdy when it's breezy, and the push button is a feature I wouldn't want to give up now. I'd have liked a slightly wider canopy for the money. Still, it seems a sensible buy compared with the flimsy umbrellas I used to go through. Smaller than ideal, but a solid purchase.
Nicolas Jenkins
It seemed a good choice, cute without being too much.
A gift for a friend who likes cute things, but I didn't want something that looked like it belonged to a child. This has a nice simple look and is properly adult sized when open. It seemed a good choice, cute without being too much. Price was reasonable too, and most importantly my friend loved her new umbrella!
Evan Ewing
The loop is comfortable to hold once I've stopped.
Reasonably priced and solid enough for me, this stays in my pack when I go out on the bicycle in case the rain starts. The loop is comfortable to hold once I've stopped. It's not the smallest folded umbrella, but I'd rather make room for it than get soaked while waiting for a shower to pass.
Olivia Hatfield
Otherwise it's kept the rain off me even when the weather gets breezy.
I like the coverage and being able to open it and collapse the canopy with a button. One star off for the strength needed to compress the shaft afterwards. That last step is manual and fairly firm, so someone with arthritis might find it awkward. Otherwise it's kept the rain off me even when the weather gets breezy. It feels solid in use, and I'm pleased not to need a full length umbrella just to get a decent amount of cover.
Sheena Butler
I tend to stick with umbrellas that feel sturdy.
I tend to stick with umbrellas that feel sturdy. My previous one did four years before I stopped using it (it wasn't broken--the fabric had simply become very thin in places). I've been carrying this one for a year or more now, and everything still works as it should. It seems to be lasting well.
Rose Gallegos
I'm happy with it for what I need.
I'm happy with it for what I need. It will mostly be a prop, so I wasn't looking for the fanciest umbrella available. The canopy looks tidy and the oval handle is a nice shape. That handle is a little more modern looking than I had in mind for the prop, but I can work around it. I might make it look a bit more decorative later on. For the money I think it was a worthwhile purchase.

Better quality than I was expecting & good value.
Better quality than I was expecting & good value. The ribs have enough give and it has felt solid in the windy rain I've used it in. Gray is nice - happy with that. The oval loop handle is the part I'm less keen on. I prefer a longer grip, and this one takes a little getting used to in my hand. Nothing wrong with it, just not my favorite shape. Folded length is about 40cm, so it sticks out of my work bag more than I had hoped. Compact doesn't necessarily mean tiny! The open canopy is about the size of my old umbrella, not the extra coverage I pictured. Still a useful umbrella. The button works well for opening and bringing the canopy down. Four stars mainly for the handle and the bag fit. For the money, I can live with those things.
Latasha Hartman
we'd definitely recommend it!
our favorite umbrella for taking the little one out so far. it looks just as we expected. there's more cover than the tiny kids' ones, so i can hold it over our toddler without rain landing straight on their head. nice to have something that folds away after the walk too. we'd definitely recommend it!

Anyone tired of replacing flimsy umbrellas should be happy with this.
Anyone tired of replacing flimsy umbrellas should be happy with this. Mine got here while the wet weather was still hanging around, so no waiting to try it. It feels strong and hasn't flipped over in the breezes I've used it in. A good buy if your after an umbrella that doesn't feel like a throwaway.

I've had this umbrella for years now and it's still going strong.
I've had this umbrella for years now and it's still going strong. My earlier umbrellas always seemed to end up bent or inside out, but this one has kept its shape. It's travelled with me to different parts of the country and seen plenty of wet, windy weather. The outside looks a little tired now, which is hardly surprising after so much use. As long as it carries on working like this, I'm happy.
Carl Wolf
Feels very solid.
Feels very solid. I take it to the soccer field most weeks and it makes standing there much more comfortable. Shade when the sun is out and cover when it rains. Just what I need as a soccer mom here in Hawaii. The quality seems very good and I am hoping to get plenty of use out of it.
Sherri King
The oval handle also took a little getting used to.
After 22 years with my old golf umbrella, I decided it was time for a replacement. This one seems decent for the money and gives me enough coverage. It is heavier in my bag than I'd expected from something compact, though. The oval handle also took a little getting used to. A few weeks in - Overall happy with it, just not the lightest option for carrying everywhere.
Fred Sparks
This folding umbrella is the one I reach for, no contest.
This folding umbrella is the one I reach for, no contest. Easy button action and it feels properly solid when the weather isn't nice. Brilliant! There is one in the car, another in the truck and another by the front door, because being caught without an umbrella is something I try hard to avoid.
Lance Wood
I love having an umbrella I don't need to think much about.
Mine stays in the car through the rainy season and has been dependable over the couple of years I've had it. Living in the Bay Area, that's something I appreciate. It fits in my backpack when I want it with me instead, and the sleeve is useful for keeping it neatly packed away. I've taken it abroad too, where it coped well with rain and some windy days. I love having an umbrella I don't need to think much about. Just grab it from the car or put it in my bag and I'm set.

A year ago I ordered two, one each for my husband and me.
A year ago I ordered two, one each for my husband and me. He lost track of his, so mine became his. Turns out I REALLY missed having it and ordered myself a replacement straight away. No struggling to get it spread out, just a press of the button and I'm covered. I like how little fuss it takes to use. Love it!
Jack Blackburn
It feels sturdy - and keeping it facing the wind makes a difference.
A very good umbrella - although it takes up more room folded than I expected. Once it's open the coverage is worth it. It feels sturdy - and keeping it facing the wind makes a difference. One wet, blustery day it did turn inside out - I put it right again and it has carried on working fine. I take it to work in the city through the spring rain. The people at work thought I'd spent too much on an umbrella - apparently everything gets wrecked here so why bother. After about three months of borrowing a bit of shelter while we wait for the food trucks, they've become less vocal about that. It's not the tiniest option for carrying every day - that is my only real reservation - but I'd rather carry this than keep replacing a flimsier one.
Duane Burton
It has been a good choice for the trip.
I needed a sturdy umbrella that wouldn't take over my bag on a vacation to Egypt. Picked this one for the size, price and how the fabric looked. The beige is nice and it feels light enough to take along. Opened out, there is plenty of shade for me, but it folds down neatly afterwards. The material feels good (not sure of the proper name for it).At first I thought the button would do all the closing. It folds the canopy, and you press the pole down yourself. Once I understood that little bit it was easy to use. It has been a good choice for the trip.
Victoria Santiago
Sometimes I take it along just for shade.
I live somewhere the sidewalks seem to have been designed for one very narrow person, and rainy days turn them into an umbrella obstacle course. This has made the whole business considerably less miserable. It opens without a wrestling match, covers my shoulders and backpack if I keep it centred, and feels solid instead of apologetic. I do still have to watch where I'm going, because it is an umbrella and not a traffic control system, although I remain hopeful. Folded up, it is much less awkward to carry than a long umbrella when the rain changes its mind halfway down the street. Sometimes I take it along just for shade. It gives me the pleasing sensation of being prepared for once, which is frankly not my usual approach to leaving the house. A small victory over the pavement chaos.
Elaine Hughes
That worked much better than tugging at it.
I wasn't sure what to expect when i bought this, and getting through the outer wrapping was more fuss than i wanted!I kept pulling at it---BUT then i snipped along the taped edge and the wrapping lifted away easily. That worked much better than tugging at it.Once out, the umbrella looked good and i tried the button straight away. It opened smoothly and the canopy closed with another press, no problem there. I still would have preferred less fiddly packaging, but cutting that seam sorted it out. The umbrella itself has been good in the rain and i am happy with it!

This umbrella has been a good buy for me.
This umbrella has been a good buy for me. It goes in the side pocket of my backpack and gives me comfortable cover once it's open. Someone else can squeeze alongside, although it's really best for one. It's also felt steady on blustery days. If I wanted to nitpick, the handle feels a touch bulky, but nothing that would put me off using it.

My wife asked for something compact for Christmas, and this fits in her larger handbag. She has used it in the rain and likes how quickly the button gets it open. Just don't expect the size of a golf umbrella or comfortable shelter for two. Her only real reservation is pushing the shaft back down afterwards, which takes both hands.
Debra Ali
Well made, opens easily & keeps me dry.
I'd had enough of buying flimsy cheap umbrellas. My co-worker has had good ones for years & persuaded me to spend a little more. This one feels solid, not like something I'll be replacing straight away. I've taken it out plenty since it arrived & have been happy every time. Well made, opens easily & keeps me dry. Sometimes paying that bit extra really is worth it!

I am absurdly delighted by an umbrella, which probably says something about me. It feels MUCH more substantial than I thought it would and that opening button is ridiculously satisfying. One click and I'm ready for rain instead of standing there wrestling with fabric. Collapsing the canopy is just as easy, then I press the telescoping bit down myself. Getting the folds tidy afterwards took me a moment, but that may just be because my hands apparently never received instructions from my brain.

We used this as a prop for the swimsuit section of a beauty contest.
We used this as a prop for the swimsuit section of a beauty contest. It suited the outfit very well and we were more than happy with how it looked. A pretty umbrella with a sturdy feel, and it completed the young girl's outfit nicely. For the purpose we bought it for, it was a success.

What more do I need for everyday rain?
So our New England weather finally gave me a chance to see what this umbrella was like. I did have to hang on when the GUSTS came, but it didn't try to turn over. Mostly kept me dry too, despite the rain coming in at an angle. That's the point for me, not having to wrestle with an umbrella every time the weather gets unpleasant. It costs more than a basic one, sure, but I can see the difference in how it feels. Looks rather good as well. No idea how many years it will last, but so far I'm impressed. What more do I need for everyday rain?
Bridget Miranda
Definitely happy to buy the same again.
After nearly a year of using mine I managed to lose it, so I'm back for a replacement. Rain in New York isn't much fun if your umbrella can't cope, and this one held up well on my walks. Nothing gave me trouble despite plenty of use. Having a nice-looking umbrella makes those wet walks slightly more enjoyable too. Definitely happy to buy the same again.
Garrett Buchanan
good for day to day, less good if you're expecting a huge umbrella.
good for day to day, less good if you're expecting a huge umbrella. folds down enough to fit in my class bag or a larger purse for work. that's why I keep taking it along. Bought it wanting something compact (not a full sized walking umbrella) and it does that job well. In gusty weather I still need a firm hold and wouldn't pick this for really rough conditions. Opened up it's enough for me, not really for sharingPros:convenient folded sizebutton is usefulCons:a little weightyroom for oneGave it four because it gets carried instead of left at home

Seems sturdy enough in everyday wind.
The fabric feels substantial, though I need more time with it to judge how it lasts. Seems sturdy enough in everyday wind. The opening is quite brisk, so I make sure there's room before pressing the button, and for the price I'm pleased. I expected a softer green from the screen; it has a slight sheen in person and looks a shade darker.
Sally Combs
This is a nice umbrella and the frame feels substantial.
This is a nice umbrella and the frame feels substantial. The button opening and canopy closing are very handy. Folded, it's not tiny, so I need my larger purse rather than expecting it to fit every bag. There is plenty of cover for me and being underneath it in the sun is noticeably more comfortable. The one reservation is wind; I prefer to put it away when it gets really gusty.Update: Took it to the Yucatan peninsula and was very glad of the shade. It wasn't the smallest thing to carry, but I appreciated having decent cover instead of something tiny.Update: After the trip I'm still pleased with it. The convenience of the button makes a difference and I'm glad I took it along!
