Overall I'm very pleased with it.

People keep commenting on how smart this looks. Plain and quite masculine, with a good broad canopy, which suits me. Feels very well put together. It's been through several wet, blustery days already and still looks good. Plenty of ribs underneath, with a bit of flexibility rather than a rigid feel. It is a little bulkier folded than the tiniest umbrellas, but that's a trade off I don't mind. Overall I'm very pleased with it.

Useful when it rains and when I need some shade.

Wanted something foldable for a beach holiday and this umbrella is so cute. Feels stronger than I thought it would, too. Useful when it rains and when I need some shade. I've had smiles and questions about it already. Makes me grin carrying it- simple things can do that!

Rain doesn't seem quite such a nuisance with this around.

Rain doesn't seem quite such a nuisance with this around. Pressing the button is kinda satisfying and it pops up without a struggle. There's room for me underneath without my shoulders getting wet. It has felt steady in a breeze too, not all flimsy. A quick shake before I come indoors gets most of the drops off. Feels like a proper, well made umbrella and I'm hoping to get lots of use out of it.

Treated myself to this pink umbrella before london, then realised it wouldn't fit the bag I was taking so it stayed home. Have used it since getting back to the states and its become the one I reach for. It has that expensive look without the expensive price, my friends are always surprised when I tell them what I paid!

perhaps too much umbrella for our little outings.

I wanted something for rainy walks with my 3 year old, who would go out in any weather if I let him. I was a little surprised on unpacking this. The black fabric looked smart and it felt more substantial than I expected...perhaps too much umbrella for our little outings. I tried the button and it opened easily. Then I checked how to put it away, because I wasn't understanding that part straight off. I left it on the side with a thought that maybe I had chosen wrong. I wanted rain walks to be simple, not another thing to struggle with. A little later I looked again and realised you press the button to bring the canopy in, then push the shaft down by hand. And that made sense. Once I had done it myself there was nothing difficult about it. My little one is happy beside me listening to all the drops hitting the top. Could be lighter...but it feels comfortable to hold. So in the end, I am glad to have it. It looks nice and keeps us covered for the sort of walks we do. Was it the right choice? I would say yes...because he loves being outside when it rains and now I don't find myself wanting to hurry straight back home. That's what I wanted really.

My reveiw has landed on another colour somehow.

My reveiw has landed on another colour somehow. I ordered blue, with black underneath.I was nervous after some comments I read, but mine was around for a couple of years and I loved using it. Kept it in the trunk mostly, not the tidiest place and not gentle storage either. I'd blame the way I kept it before blaming the umbrella.

It also doesn't shade every bit of you all day

The green looks just as I'd hoped, and I like the contrast with the black underneath. I wanted something to use for shade as well as rain and this has been a pleasure to take along. The canopy feels substantial, not like thin fabric stretched over a flimsy frame, and the unusual handle sits nicely in my hand. At an outdoor event I was much more comfortable standing under it than in the direct sun. It isn't huge, so I could get through the crowd with a little care, although I still had to watch where the edges were going. It also doesn't shade every bit of you all day; depending on where the sun was, my legs were still exposed, so sunscreen was needed. A few gusts came along and I could keep a good hold on it. Delighted with how this turned out!

Arrived in good shape and was easy to check over.

Arrived in good shape and was easy to check over. It fits in my bag and doesn't feel heavy to carry. Everything opened as it should. The only "bad" thing is the black looks a little flatter than I expected. I still think it looks nice, just not quite the finish I had pictured.

Dalton Lang

An easy choice when we needed one more umbrella.

Can't find anything to fault with these. The button makes opening straightforward and the flexible frame has dealt well with windy days. We've had two in use for roughly a year, and I've now added another for the family. (Those two are always the first taken from the stand.) Both still look good -- fabric intact and ribs straight. An easy choice when we needed one more umbrella.

Finally found an umbrella in the style I wanted!

Finally found an umbrella in the style I wanted! My old one had been with me for about twenty years and was getting pretty tatty, but I really liked its design and didn't want something completely different. This one has that familiar sort of look. The price seemed reasonable too, and it feels solid in the hand. Glad I kept looking instead of settling for any old replacement.

Judith Elliott

It looks classy and has been great in the rain.

Umbrellas aren't usually something I get excited about, but I love this one! It looks classy and has been great in the rain. The button takes a deliberate press, which I actually prefer to something too easy to catch by accident. Another press folds the canopy, then I push it down to put away. I mainly use mine for rain, although it seems handy for shade too. It fits my large purse comfortably, but I wouldn't expect it to disappear into a little one.

This replaces an umbrella I managed to lose.

This replaces an umbrella I managed to lose. There's a useful amount of room underneath without having a long umbrella to carry on the subway each morning. It has kept its shape in the breezy weather so far. I still find myself holding partway up the stem rather than using the handle, just how I naturally carry it.

Brenda Castaneda

The button worked every time.

Back from two weeks travelling around China, and I am so glad I packed this umbrella. Beijing, Xi'an, Changsha and Guangzhou were all HOT, and carrying a patch of shade made a real difference. I was using it several times a day, opening it for the sunny stretches and closing it when we went indoors. The button worked every time. A gust up on the Great Wall caught the canopy and turned it over, but it went back into shape without any trouble. I really dislike feeling covered in greasy sunscreen when the air is already hot and damp. Being able to get out of the direct sun under an umbrella was such a relief. No searching for a shady spot every time we stopped. We also had an afternoon of showers in Xi'an, so it earned its place for rain as well. It slipped into my messenger bag without a struggle, and I didn't find carrying it around all day a nuisance. I am very fair and heat gets to me quite quickly, so this wasn't just something I packed and forgot about. With water to hand and some shade when I needed it, the sightseeing was much more manageable. Definitely glad it came along.

Rainy, breezy days haven't been a problem so far.

This is the one I came back for after leaving my last umbrella on a train. It has a solid feel and gives good coverage around my head and shoulders. Rainy, breezy days haven't been a problem so far. If I manage to hang on to this one, I can see it getting plenty of use.

Albert Logan

A smart umbrella that actually earns its keep!

A smart umbrella that actually earns its keep! One warning: don't assume it'll still be where you left it. People seem far too willing to borrow mine and forget whose it is. I'm on my third purchase now. Wish everyone would get their own instead of leaving me hunting for an umbrella when the rain starts.

Leslie Soto

Even knocked it against my heavy bag and...

My city has a long wet season and I needed something more solid. The ones I had before never felt much good, this one feels strong.Handle is nice in the hand and I can hang it from my bag pack with the oval loop. Even knocked it against my heavy bag and... Still fine. I like it very much.A good buy for me

A decent size, a nice beige....

A decent size, a nice beige....does exactly what I needed!!! Had a wedding to attend....with rain looking pretty certain....so this was my plan...and yes, it poured....but I wasn't left soaking and the dress made it through dry too. Can't ask for much more than that!

Tamara Tate

this was a decent umbrella, felt sturdy and the pink was nice.

this was a decent umbrella, felt sturdy and the pink was nice. Still managed to leave it on the train one day, so apparently a colour doesn't stop me forgetting things. A few days later I saw someone with what looked like mine. She said she'd bought her own. Maybe she had, who knows. I wasn't going to argue over an umbrella. It did keep me dry, although the back of my backpack stuck out and got wet, which wasn't ideal.

Donna Walker

Love how much it covers when open.

Love how much it covers when open. My husband takes it on the walk between the garage and his work building. The only fiddly part is pushing the telescoping section down after closing the canopy. It takes a firm push, so I take my time packing it away. Otherwise a great umbrella!

Deborah Roberts

I'm glad I found it, especially for what I paid.

Losing my umbrella at Barcelona airport had me wondering how I'd find another with the same useful bits.--Push-button opening--Button closes the canopy--Compact enough for luggage--A closed loop handle that's handy to carry.--This beige one has the things I actually liked about the old one, without being an enormous umbrella to drag around.I'm glad I found it, especially for what I paid.

My daughter takes this Umbrella with her for golf competitions.

My daughter takes this Umbrella with her for golf competitions. She keeps it with her cart and uses it between playing, including on a hilly course where it was pretty breezy. It has held up well and kept her dry without being a huge thing to carry round. Three tournaments so far and everything is still working well. We're impressed with this umbrella, it has been a very reliable one for us.

Donna Livingston

I'm pleased with the quality for a folding umbrella.

Three of these went to my daughters for Christmas and they were delighted with them. I wanted something they'd actually use, and these have been a good choice. They seem sturdy and the automatic opening is handy when heading out in the rain. I'm pleased with the quality for a folding umbrella. Already thinking about getting some for other family members next Christmas.

Heather Torres

Mom wanted two things from an umbrella.

Mom wanted two things from an umbrella. 1 - small enough folded for her larger handbag. 2 - a color other than the usual dark ones. This cream white one ticked both boxes. It's understated and smart, and the button works a treat!! She's mentioned several times how much she enjoys it! Not the cheapest choice, but the quality makes the price easier to accept!

Caitlin Perkins

It's been a really good choice for me.

My commute takes me through downtown Seattle, and the gusts between buildings have turned plenty of my umbrellas inside out. This one has held its shape, with room over both me and my backpack. I also like how the loop handle lets me keep a secure hold on the bus without juggling it so much when I need my other hand. It's been a really good choice for me.

Bernard Jordan

I am pretty happy with this umbrella.

I am pretty happy with this umbrella. It feels solid enough that I expect to have it a long time. The sleeve is kinda snug and putting it away in there takes a bit of fiddling but otherwise its nice. And hey that handle is a bit different so I think thats cool too

Gail Vaughan

Twenty words about an umbrella seems a lot!

Twenty words about an umbrella seems a lot! It keeps water off me, very satisfactorily! I bought it to use with a separate holder on my walker, keeping both hands free for the walker when I need to go out in rain. There is sufficient canopy over me even with some extending over the walker. That was the point of buying it, and it does the job.

Ronald Maxwell

The cover is handy for keeping it together in my bag, too.

I finally stopped picking up the cheapest umbrellas after getting fed up with how quickly they gave out in the rain. This one has been a much better buy so far. I've carried it through some windy streets and proper downpours and stayed dry. What surprised me was how manageable it is!I'm quite short and was worried that an umbrella with decent coverage would be a nuisance to drag around. But folded down it is easy to carry and doesn't feel like the burden I had pictured. The cover is handy for keeping it together in my bag, too. Its a nice change not to be fighting with something flimsy every time it rains! The gray on mine is a little deeper than I expected from the picture, but I actually like that. Nothing fancy needed, just an umbrella I can use without a whole lot of fuss.

Darin Mcdowell

Solid umbrella and straightforward to use around the golf course.

Solid umbrella and straightforward to use around the golf course. I carry it for a little shade while walking, and the frame has enough give that it doesn't feel rigid in a breeze. I wanted something less flimsy than my old umbrella, and this seems a much better choice.

Jillian Velazquez

Feels like a properly sturdy umbrella.

Feels like a properly sturdy umbrella. We picked up another one around the same time and much prefer using this one.Build feels solid throughout. The button is easy to work and the frame doesn't feel flimsy when it opens. I also appreciate the plain appearance, nothing overly fussy about it. We've had it out on windy rainy days here in the midwest and it hasn't turned over on us. Not saying it couldn't happen in a bad enough gust, but so far it's done very well.Very pleased and would get another.

Mason Noble

I haven't had rain come through the material.

Most of the umbrellas I have had were the cheap long ones that end up leaning in a corner because they don't fit in a bag. This folds down to a much more manageable length, though it still has some weight to it. There is a decent amount of cover once open. If wind gets underneath, it will still pull at your arm, so I try to face the canopy into it rather than expect miracles. I wouldn't have it sticking out through a car roof just to find out what it can take. The stitching where the fabric meets the ribs could be neater for the price, but nothing has come loose so far. Opening is quite quick and I prefer to leave a bit of space around me before pressing the button. When closing, the canopy gathers itself, then the telescoping section needs compressing by hand. Not difficult, just not completely automatic in every part. I haven't had rain come through the material. Getting wet from rain coming in sideways is a different matter, and I don't think a bigger list of features would change that.

Kerri Shannon

There is one part of putting it away that is worth understanding.

Small enough to tuck into my shoulder bag, but a useful size once it is opened. I used mine a number of times while travelling in Normandy and England, and the button was particularly convenient when a shower arrived unexpectedly. There is one part of putting it away that is worth understanding. Pressing the button folds the canopy, but it does not shorten the shaft for you. You then push the shaft back into the handle by hand until it clicks into place, ready for the next opening. At first I hadn't realised this was a separate step, so I was expecting the button to do everything. Once I had worked that out it was quite straightforward, and not something I mind doing. In other words, button to fold the top, then push it down and it is ready again. I purchased two in black and can see them being used regularly throughout the year. When they eventually wear out I'd consider buying the same again, as the price seems reasonable.

Alec Clayton

I'm very, very pale and the sun catches me quickly.

I'm very, very pale and the sun catches me quickly. Sunscreen alone doesn't make longer stretches outside comfortable for me. This folds down enough to go in my larger purse or a tote, so I can actually keep it with me instead of leaving it home. Opening it up gives me shade whenever I need a break from direct sun.

Jasmine Sawyer

This seems to be exactly the umbrella I was hoping for.

This seems to be exactly the umbrella I was hoping for. The frame has a reassuring feel - reminds me of an old favourite I have kept for years - and the finish is neat rather than fussy. There isn't a lot going on with the design, which suits me. It comes with a sleeve for storage. The canopy opens and closes at a press, and then I compress the telescoping shaft to pack it away. I didn't find that difficult once I knew what to do. It is more money than I normally spend on an umbrella, but I had kept putting off buying a decent one and wishing I had. I'm glad I finally went ahead.

Ordered this in case rain tried to spoil my wedding.

Ordered this in case rain tried to spoil my wedding. Almost as soon as it arrived, the Chicago weather turned wet and it seems to have stayed that way. It's made the grey days a little nicer and has coped with plenty of rain and some breezes. Glad you're here, brolly!

Kiara Vance

We are both so pleased with how it has worked out

The umbrella is the second I've purchased, and this one was for my best friend. She has been delighted with it and keeps it ready for her daily outings during the rainy season. It is a smart looking umbrella and practical enough to use all the time, which makes it a very satisfying gift. We are both so pleased with how it has worked out

Collin Hansen

Absolutely delighted with this umbrella.

Absolutely delighted with this umbrella. I'd recommend it to anybody, it looks and feels so well put together. Even the small details seem carefully finished. The blue is beautiful and I love the contrast with the black underneath. It feels a little bulky and heavier than some umbrellas I've had, but that's fine with me for something this sturdy. I keep admiring it every time I take it out. Probably my favourite umbrella I've owned, and yes I know that sounds a bit much about an umbrella. Couldn't be more satisfied with it. Downsides... nothing for me.

After comparing a lot of reviews, I settled on this one.

After comparing a lot of reviews, I settled on this one. The campus where I work has several buildings, so wet days mean repeatedly getting an umbrella out and putting it away. I wanted something quick, easy to carry and easy to recognise among all the black umbrellas.Good bits:The oval loop gives me something to look for, since mine is black too.It goes in my larger purse, so I'm not carrying a long umbrella around indoors. The button gets it open promptly, and will pull the canopy closed when I reach the next doorway. I then shorten the stem by hand. Not quite so good:It's convenient to carry because it isn't enormous, which also means the cover has its limits. My head and shoulders stay dry, but my legs can still get wet if rain is blowing towards me. I knew a folding umbrella wasn't going to protect me right down to my shoes. For moving between buildings rather than standing outside all day, that's a compromise I'm quite happy to make.

Bryan Valenzuela

I picked this up for my gf because she needed an umbrella.

I picked this up for my gf because she needed an umbrella. She likes it, which is the important thing (I don't really use umbrellas myself). The pink is nice and there's plenty of cover for her on her own. Opens and folds up fine so far, no fuss. A co-worker has one too and seems happy with hers. I'd recommend it if you're someone who looks after your stuff.

Geoffrey Carney

Handy umbrella.

Handy umbrella. Bought it for my wife to leave in the car. It sits neatly in the driver's door compartment instead of getting underfoot or rolling round the floor. The open size surprised me, there is a lot more cover than you would guess from seeing it tucked away. A very useful buy.

Raymond Bryant

Thankfully the couple had sunshine instead of rain!

We ordered these umbrellas as a just in case for photographs on our daughter's wedding day. Thankfully the couple had sunshine instead of rain! They looked smart enough for the occasion and would have been useful if the weather had turned. The folded size was handy for having them there without much fuss. I would recommend them to anyone planning wedding photos outdoors - nice looking umbrellas that didn't feel like an awkward extra thing to bring along.

Maureen Brady

Could be a lovely present for someone too.

The pink is gorgeous! Makes a rainy day feel a bit brighter..A nice choice if you want something pretty but useful. Compact. Canopy opens & folds with the button. Could be a lovely present for someone too. Mine stays in the car so there's an umbrella there when I need one.

Danielle Trevino

Performance is good.

Performance is good. Open size about 105 cm, weight about 390 grams. Push handle button, the pole extends and canopy spreads.once more, Push the same button and canopy folds.the pole is still extended, this is normal. You have to push it shorter by hand to reset. Needs a firm push but manageable. I keep my thumb away from button while holding it open. For me it is useful, especially opening quickly. Is that not the point of the button?

Jenny Bishop

This has turned out to be a good choice.

Works smoothly - proper coverage when open, reasonably compact when folded. The button makes opening easy and collapses the canopy when you're done. The ribs have some flex to them, which I appreciate. I wanted something practical to carry rather than another cumbersome umbrella. This has turned out to be a good choice.

Samuel Riddle

Good black colour.

Good black colour. Looks proper black in daylight too. Quality seems good, button opens it and closes the canopy. You push the shaft in afterwards. Nice room underneath, two can share if close. Packing it neatly took a few goes, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Nathan Shaw

Very impressed with the construction, and quite happy to recommend it.

I read a fair number of reviews before settling on the Haven, and the generally positive comments helped me decide. It was here when we had an Illinois spell of wind and rain, so it got a proper outing straight away. The frame gives a little, but the canopy stayed in shape and kept me dry. There are 30 flexible ribs, and you can feel that it's a substantial umbrella when you open it. Why put up with one that feels flimsy ?? The button works smoothly and the whole thing folds down neatly afterwards. Very impressed with the construction, and quite happy to recommend it.

Christie Myers

Handy little umbrella for commuting, though I wouldn't choose it…

Handy little umbrella for commuting, though I wouldn't choose it for very strong winds or expect it to keep my legs dry. It slips into the mesh bottle holder on my backpack (not much room left in there). I've taken it out around a dozen times now and it has done the job.

Jocelyn Grimes

For my tall husband this seems a sensible portable umbrella.

I am looking at this alongside the little umbrella that has gone to London, Paris and Kenya with me. That one has turned inside out in the wind more than once, then gone back into shape and carried on working. It isn't especially substantial, but being small enough for my purse means it actually gets taken along. That counts for quite a lot. The Haven feels like a more substantial option. The canopy has a rounded shape, and standing under it on my own I get good coverage. My older, flatter umbrella feels easier to position between two people, although neither is something I would pick specifically for sharing. Size is the main difference for me. This is about 40cm long folded, so compact doesn't mean tiny. It takes more room in a bag than my old one. The closed oval loop is comfortable to hold, quite different from the little grip I'm used to. There are 30 flexible ribs underneath; the canopy feels well supported, but the umbrella is still manageable to carry. Mine is Cream White, which is nice and plain, but I still have a soft spot for the patterns on my older umbrella. There's a black underside on this one. The canopy fabric feels substantial, and the sleeve is useful for keeping everything together. Getting it back inside takes some care with the folds. Not a major struggle, just less of a quick stuff-it-away affair than the little one. The button is convenient for opening and drawing the canopy shut. Afterwards I still have to press the telescoping sections together myself. Once I'd done that a couple of times it was straightforward. There is more structure here than on my old umbrella, though I can't judge long-term durability just by counting ribs. For my tall husband this seems a sensible portable umbrella. For me, the smaller one still wins when space in my purse or luggage matters most. I would take this instead when rain is likely and I'm happy to carry something larger. That is really the compromise: reassuring coverage and a solid feel, but not the one that disappears into my bag. A sturdy-feeling umbrella, with the folded size being my main reservation.

Harold Roth

I've had lots of nice comments about it!

More than a year of regular use and this is still the one I take with me. I've had lots of nice comments about it! It goes into either my purse or backpack, and the push button has been dependable. You can see a little wear where the fabric folds now, but after being used this much I think that's fair enough.

Vernon Mack

For the money, I'm impressed with how useful this umbrella is.

For the money, I'm impressed with how useful this umbrella is. The button works properly and it feels sturdy when open. My only little reservation is the shape of the handle; I thought the oval loop might be awkward to hold. It hasn't actually bothered my hand at all, though. Overall, a very good buy.

Brent Carson

I'm pleased enough that I don't feel the need to look for another one.

Living in New York, the gusts that come between the tall buildings can make a rainy walk quite a production. Around Queens Plaza it's especially noticeable. I don't like lugging a big umbrella around all day just in case the forecast is right. My preference is to put one in my work bag, leave it there, and have both hands free while it's tucked away. The really tiny folding ones haven't worked out for me though. They tend to flip in the wind, and then I'm wrestling with one instead of staying dry. I've even given up on using them and accepted getting wet. This one is a much better compromise. Folded up, it only just goes into my work bag, so I wouldn't describe it as something for a pocket. But it fits, and that's what I needed. Open, there's enough coverage for me without taking up half the pavement like an oversized umbrella would. (I do wish more people thought about the people trying to get past them on a crowded sidewalk). I've had it out on several wet, blustery days now and it hasn't flipped inside out. It's been a relief to walk along without constantly fighting to keep the thing over my head. I'm pleased enough that I don't feel the need to look for another one.Summary: Holds up nicely to city gusts, goes in my bag, and gives me enough cover in the rain.
