What a beautiful umbrella.

What a beautiful umbrella. The beige is just lovely and the finish looks so nice in person. I'd happily recommend it. Not the cheapest choice, but I think the quality makes it worth paying extra. Would be a gorgeous present for somebody who's impossible to shop for.Couldn't be happier!!!

A lovely thank you gift!

Got this for the neighbor who came to my rescue during an emergency. Cream white is her favorite and here in central Florida rain can appear out of nowhere. The canopy looks BEAUTIFUL! Simple but quite smart. She was delighted with it. Feels like a more expensive umbrella, and she likes the button closing the canopy. A lovely thank you gift!

I wish carrying a parasol were still more common.

The umbrella looks elegant, and I often get a kind comment when I carry it. It feels like a lovely part of an outfit rather than just something practical. I wish carrying a parasol were still more common. While recovering from melanoma I am careful about sun exposure, and having some portable shade has been very welcome alongside my other precautions.

Happy to recommend for walks in changeable weather.

Five stars because it does what I expected it to do. Have taken it out in rain and some wind and found it steady and comfortable to use. The flexible ribs give the canopy a supported feel without making it awkward to carry folded. Room enough for sharing, as long as two people stay close together rather than expecting loads of space. Better than I expected from a compact umbrella. Happy to recommend for walks in changeable weather.

Definitely recommend!

I live in California.Melanoma runs in my family, so having shade matters to me!I love carrying my own shade instead of hoping there'll be a tree nearby!NOT replacing sunscreen with it, just glad of the extra cover. It feels strong but doesn't make my bag heavy, and folds neatly into its sleeve.Easy to open too.Definitely recommend!

The blue is a rich shade and it feels solid.

A nicely made umbrella for a reasonable price. Much better than the old giraffe print one I had. Tucks into my backpack easily & having a button to open AND close the canopy is wonderful. The blue is a rich shade and it feels solid. Ordering & delivery went just as smoothly as usual!

Good amount of cover from rain.

Rainy when this umbrella came so it got used right away. Did the job really well for me. Good amount of cover from rain. Quick to open and seems solidly made. I like the cream white colour. Folded length is around 40cm or so, but I can still get it in my bag easly.

Caleb Sheppard

Needed a decent sized umbrella for using alongside the stroller, etc.

Needed a decent sized umbrella for using alongside the stroller, etc. This seems a good compromise without carrying a full length one about. A bit bulkier folded than I had pictured, but it opens easily and the frame feels solid. Everything seems to fit together properly. Overall it looks suitable for the job.

My son is moving somewhere wetter and windier, so this felt like a sensible choice. A friend spoke highly of theirs and the construction looks reassuringly solid. He would have liked a larger canopy, though this one covers him adequately. Being able to pack it down for carrying should prove more useful than having a much bigger umbrella.

Roberto Frost

Opens at a press and is easy to put away too.

The cream white was what attracted me and it looks so cute in person. Almost makes me want a rainy day to take it out. Opens at a press and is easy to put away too. Four stars because I'd like slightly more room overhead, though I know compact is the whole idea. That also makes it handy to carry, so it is a fair trade off. I do love the look of it.

Except I'd got spoiled--not one was automatic!

Had it a few days with no rain yet (sunny southern Calif, what can you do), but I'm confident in its rainproofedness. My last automatic umbrella wore out and I thought the four other folding ones I owned would be plenty. Except I'd got spoiled--not one was automatic! This black one is a beauty, and the button opens it and closes the canopy so smoothly. Once we get some rain, my friends with their plain brollies are going to be envious!

Don't go hunting for the old metal release like I did...

It's manageable even opened up ^^ Handy to carry with me each day for rain that catches me out, and the finish is actually nicer than I expected! Oh! I did pause over closing it, looking for a catch that wasn't there. You use the button again to collapse the canopy and then press the telescoping shaft down yourself. Don't go hunting for the old metal release like I did...

Gene Davenport

She's happy with it.

I had the green one and my mom tried it one day, saying how sturdy it felt. She liked opening it and closing the canopy with the button, and how the handle felt, so I bought her one too. She's happy with it. You get a little sleeve as well. Folds down enough for a purse - a bit more weight than some compact umbrellas, but it does feel more solid.

It's the one I keep reaching for now.

A short folding umbrella was my favourite for about twenty years, and I kept going back to it even after trying a few others. Rain rolled off well and I wasn't dragging half the weather into the car with me! That was what I wanted again. This one gives me that same easy feeling, good cover without a big awkward thing to carry. It's the one I keep reaching for now. So glad to have found something I like this much again!!

Shelia Landry

For one person I find the coverage quite generous.

For one person I find the coverage quite generous. Not as large as a golf umbrella, which suits me, although it is a little longer folded than I'd want for a small backpack. Pressing the button sends it open smartly and saves messing about with it. Quite a tidy, professional appearance too. I like using it, but haven't had it out in anything I'd call serious wind.

Margaret Stewart

This umbrella has been good.

This umbrella has been good. Looks nice, but more important I can keep it above my eyeline and see where I'm walking. The canopy still gives me decent cover that way. The button makes it simple to put up too, so its handy without a lot of fuss. I recommend it.

Jared Porter

I certainly don't regret choosing this one.

I didn't expect to find an umbrella that looked quite so elegant, and opening the package was a pleasure. The clean outline and unusual handle give it a bit more character than my usual bargain umbrellas. Anyone wanting something smarter for rainy days might find the extra cost worthwhile. I certainly don't regret choosing this one.

Glenda Nolan

This was just right.

Such a sweet cream white umbrella, it looks lovely over my 2 year old grand daughter when she's dressed for the rain. I had been trying to find something simple looking rather than covered in pictures. This was just right. I hold it for her for now, and think it will still be useful as she gets bigger.

It was a small wedding and I just wanted that bit sorted.

With rain possible for our wedding, we bought a few umbrellas so we and our guests could get between the reception tent outside and the inn. It was a small wedding and I just wanted that bit sorted. Seeing them open, I liked them even more than I expected, and the green suited an outdoor setting so nicely! As it turned out we didn't get any rain at all, so they weren't needed on the day. I've kept one for myself though because it felt too nice not to use. Opened up it gives a generous patch of shelter around you without being enormous. A lovely practical thing to have ready, whether for a wedding or just an ordinary rainy day!

Autumn Gilmore

Otherwise it feels durable and is a nice thing to carry.

A fun looking umbrella that has had a few people asking about the handle. The closed oval loop is unusual and i quite like holding it. Comes with a sleeve to put it away in, too. Only downside is having to leave it out to dry before packing it up again. Otherwise it feels durable and is a nice thing to carry.

Norman Clay

Good umbrella for wet, breezy weather, though after about a year of use there are 2 things I would change: It is a little heavier than I want for carrying all day, and takes more room in a bag than expected. Those are small grumbles really, because it has kept me dry and still works smoothly.

Joanna Livingston

Otherwise we've been happy with them.

We bought one each for our boys, aged eight and six, because we walk nearly every day to school, roughly three quarters of a mile. I was after something they would like carrying and that would give them cover on rainy mornings. These have worked well for that. The pink is easy for us to pick out, and both boys are keen to use their umbrellas. I still make sure they watch where they are going rather than hiding their faces behind the canopies. A nice color isn't a substitute for paying attention around traffic. My reason for four stars is the packing away part. They can press the button to close the canopy, but need a little help pushing the telescoping section down afterwards. Not a big issue for me, but it makes them a little less independent with these than I'd hoped. Otherwise we've been happy with them.

Michaela Macdonald

The coverage is really good when you put this umbrella up.

The coverage is really good when you put this umbrella up. There's room for me without feeling cramped, and I can share it at a pinch. Folded down it is a little longer than I expected, so it pokes out of my smaller bag. That's really my only gripe and why I gave it four stars. Having a sleeve to put it in is useful, and overall I'm pleased with it.

Jonathan Bond

The umbrella seems well put together and has been fine in the rain I've used it in. When the wind picks up I do have to pay attention to how I hold it, so I wouldn't call it effortless in windy weather. My old small umbrella lasted ten years, which is a hard act to follow, but overall I'm happy with this one.

Lawrence Lawson

I've seen negative comments about quality....

I've lived in a wet, windy area for years - I don't have much patience for flimsy umbrellas. This one has handled everyday rain and breezes well. I've seen negative comments about quality....all I can say is that mine feels solid and has been good to use. An umbrella needs to be practical, NOT just nice looking when it's folded. The frame and opening action inspire confidence. I'd recommend checking the actual design rather than judging it by appearance alone.

Breanna Robles

Money well spent.

Money well spent. Looks completely ordinary, but it means business! The oval handle fits my hand nicely, although anyone wanting a long sword-style grip may find it short. Surprisingly light & suitably unobtrusive, which helps the stealth factor. Someone else would probably see nothing but an umbrella. I see the sort of thing a shadowy movie villain reaches for when the weather ruins his big entrance!

Carla Long

He's delighted with it!

This was a birthday present for my husband, who does field work up north. I wanted something attractive but also solid, since we get some BIG gusts at home. The construction looks reassuring and the coverage is generous without being enormous. He's delighted with it!

Alexander Knox

It feels solid and looks good.

I chose this for my fiancé, who looks like a tough biker but is really a big science fiction and fantasy fan. He never takes an umbrella out and then comes home drenched. I thought a slightly different looking, useful present might tempt him, and the loop handle caught my eye. It feels solid and looks good. A couple of people at work admired it, but he still insists he's not an "umbrella person". (So apparently being soaked and miserable is a personality choice now? ;P) No problem, because I will HAPPILY claim it if he leaves it sitting there! I'd recommend it to somebody who actually enjoys staying dry, and likes an umbrella with a bit of character.

An umbrella that earns its place in my car!

An umbrella that earns its place in my car! I teach, so there are usually bags or a cart to deal with on the way in and out of work. Having a button to get this open makes a real difference when my hands are full. We live in a mountain valley and rain rarely seems to come straight down here. This has been far more reassuring to carry than the flimsy umbrellas I used to settle for. I use it walking the dog as well, and having decent cover makes that much less of a chore in wet weather. It feels substantial in my hand, too. I would look at the amount of cover you need rather than just buying the tiniest folded umbrella you can find. For me this is a good balance of coverage and something I can keep in the vehicle. Absolutely worth paying for!

Cesar Crane

One of the nicest things I've bought in ages.

One of the nicest things I've bought in ages. The green looks fantastic, and the whole umbrella has a much more modern feel than the ones I've owned before. It doesn't feel cumbersome to carry around the city, either. I've had comments on it, which isn't something I expected about an umbrella! The coverage works well for me, including my back, and the frame has coped with the breezy stretches near the river on my walks. No turning inside out so far. The loop handle looks unusual but is comfortable to carry, and the button makes opening it straightforward. It's the combination of looks and actual usefulness that makes me so enthusiastic about this. It's worth paying for something I actually enjoy carrying as well as using. VERY glad I bought it. A+ from me.

Joanne Harrison

It's a nice beige, a useful size, and it did what I needed.

All I really have to judge it against are the cheap little umbrellas I've used before, which never seemed happy in a breeze. This one has handled windy weather much better so far. My girlfriend and I could huddle beneath it together last week without getting drenched. It's a nice beige, a useful size, and it did what I needed. I like it.

Jonathan Buck

The button opening is convenient too.

The gray color and the comments from other buyers were what made me choose this one when I needed another umbrella. A little over a month of using it now and I'm pleased with how much cover there is, and also how manageable it feels to carry. My previous umbrella felt more tiring in the hand even though it was supposed to be portable. We get quite a lot of wind here) so the small folding ones have not always been much use to me. This one has felt steady on the breezy days I've had it out, with no wrestling just to keep myself covered. Not saying I've tried it in a serious storm, but for my normal walks it has done very well. The button opening is convenient too. You still need to press the stem down after the button gathers the canopy, and that takes a firmer push than I expected. That hasn't been enough to lose a star.

Tanya Underwood

Useful umbrella.

Useful umbrella. I wanted it for painting outdoors: good shade, though there isn't a fitting to attach it to my chair or tripod. My husband thinks he can sort something out. The pink outside is cheerful, and I appreciate the black underside rather than looking up into a bright colour while working (whether it helps my colour judgement, we'll see.) Feels solid and reasonably priced.

George Henson

Didn't expect it to feel this sturdy.

Didn't expect it to feel this sturdy. It is sooo handy for shade here in San Diego, and I've already been telling people about it. Sitting in a beach chair is much nicer with some cover from the sun. A breeze can mean I have to adjust my grip, but that's me holding an umbrella, not a complaint about how it's made. Great thing!

Jenny Gray

Florida heat is exhausting when the air is humid as well.

Florida heat is exhausting when the air is humid as well. Getting the direct sun off my head with this umbrella makes being outside feel considerably more bearable. That may sound like a small thing when you are only reading about it, but in the middle of August it matters a great deal. It does not do anything about the humidity, obviously. Having a patch of shade that moves with me is simply a relief. The experience has been better than I expected from something I originally thought of as just an umbrella. It also has a substantial frame and a reassuring weight in the hand. I intend to look after it, and hope to be using it for years.

Denise Hahn

This feels like an umbrella I can keep for a good while.

The price made me pause, as I haven't always felt compact umbrellas were worth spending much on. Having used this on a few rainy, breezy Seattle days, I'm much more impressed. It's manageable in the wind I've encountered and doesn't feel like a flimsy thing that needs constant attention. I appreciate getting it open with a button. Closing the canopy uses the same button, then the telescoping shaft needs a push by hand. That part is straightforward. This feels like an umbrella I can keep for a good while. One note: around 40cm folded is still fairly long for a compact, and it sticks out of my backpack. That's not a problem for me, but anyone expecting a tiny pocket umbrella should bear it in mind. For the cover it gives, I'm happy with that compromise.

Greg Wilkinson

Glad I did.

After enough umbrellas turning inside out, I decided to spend more on one that felt stronger. Glad I did. This has kept its shape in the wind so far, and being stuffed into my backpack or carry-on hasn't stopped it working properly. It isn't the smallest umbrella to pack, but I'll take that over another flimsy one that needs replacing after a few outings.

Jillian Park

My comments are really about the communication rather than the umbrella itself. It had not reached me when I expected it, and I could not see any tracking details, so I sent a message asking what I should do next. The reply I received was polite and straightforward, which I appreciated when I was unsure what was happening. I have not had an opportunity to try the umbrella and cannot offer an opinion on how it handles rain. I did, however, come away with a good impression of the way my enquiry was treated.

Kerry Barnett

Summer brings SO much rain here.

With dogs to walk at lunchtime every day, I wanted a bit more umbrella over me. Summer brings SO much rain here. At this price I wasn't expecting anything particularly impressive, but it actually feels well put together. I doubt this will be the last umbrella I ever need to buy, though for what I paid I'm really happy with how it's made. Very glad I gave it a try!

Brianna Horton

I honestly didn't expect an umbrella to make me this excited.

I honestly didn't expect an umbrella to make me this excited. The picture caught my attention and I spent a while deciding, but I'm so glad I went for it. It arrived nicely packed and seeing it properly was even better than looking at it online. The gray is lovely, and with the black underneath it has a really nice look without needing anything fussy on it. I keep opening it just to have another look which probably sounds ridiculous but there you go. I was a little worried that I was buying for looks rather than how useful it would be, but it has kept me dry through the rain we've had, so no regrets there either. Having the button to get it up quickly is another thing I appreciate. Even the sleeve made me smile, it's nice being able to put it away neatly rather than leave it all loose. I just cant help loving the whole thing! It makes me feel so much more put together when I'm out in the rain, honestly I love it :)

Bailey Bartlett

There is good coverage for me, with room to share if we stand close.

There is good coverage for me, with room to share if we stand close. I've used it for over a year (and have ordered one for a friend) without any trouble. Using it has been straightforward and it packs away small enough for my larger handbag. Feels reassuringly solid too, and it hasn't flipped on me in rainy weather.

Rebekah Boyer

It has felt steady in the wind I've had too.

Second one for me after the last went missing, and I'm just as happy with this one. There is something rather romantic about carrying it and I want another excuse to use it (we only had a week of rain...what is the weather doing). The button is my favorite part, up it goes without a struggle, which is handy when I'm loaded down with books for class. It has felt steady in the wind I've had too.

Patrick Bryan

Four stars from me at this point.

Four stars from me at this point. Bigger when open than I pictured, and it's handy for some shade as well as rain. I'm not totally sold on the feel of the handle, kinda plain compared with what I expected. The rest seems decent though. Haven't had it long enough to say much about lasting, but it does the job!

Nicholas Pratt

So far it's been just right.

Finding something portable enough for my commute into midtown manhattan, but not flimsy in wet weather, was the whole reason I chose this. So far it's been just right. It folds down for my bag and hasn't given me trouble when the wind picks up on a rainy walk. Such a relief not to be wrestling with an inside out umbrella on the pavement. There's room to keep me covered without taking over the sidewalk, which matters when you're walking through a crowd of people.

Kenneth Sellers

The closed loop handle feels solid and gives me a secure grip too.

Leaving for work this morning gave this umbrella its first proper soaking - before that, I'd only had it out in drizzle. It made a surprisingly big difference. I reached the station with wet shoes but otherwise fairly dry, while quite a few people waiting there had rain halfway up their trousers. I had a backpack on as well and was particularly pleased that it stayed dry, rather than having to choose between covering myself and covering the bag. There is noticeably more room underneath than with the little umbrellas I've normally carried, and that explains a lot of it, but it hasn't turned out to be a cumbersome thing to take to work. Once folded it is easy enough to carry along, and the canopy goes up with a firm snap at a press of the button. When the wind picked up it remained comfortable to hold, instead of needing constant correction to keep it over me. I wouldn't pretend any umbrella makes wet weather pleasant, but this certainly made the walk less of a battle. The closed loop handle feels solid and gives me a secure grip too. Having spent years putting up with umbrellas that barely cover my shoulders, I hadn't realised how much difference that extra space could make. There is a downside in a packed crowd though - you do need to pay attention to where the edges are, as it occupies more space around you than you might expect from its folded size.

Carrie Lutz

Much easier for me than my last umbrella.

The green is lovely, and having the button for opening and closing the canopy is so useful. With small hands I sometimes struggle with bulky handles, but this oval one sits neatly in my grip. Much easier for me than my last umbrella. I'd buy the same again when this wears out.

Jesse Orozco

Mostly wanted something I could actually take along.

The folded size works for my handbag, which was the main reason I chose it. It isn't a tiny pocket-sized thing, but fits my larger purse without a struggle. I've only used it a few times, so I can't give a verdict on how it will look after months of being carried around - might add more later. A little more bulk than I'd ideally like, although so far I'm satisfied. Mostly wanted something I could actually take along.

Elaine Russo

Somewhat less coverage than my previous folding umbrellas,…

Somewhat less coverage than my previous folding umbrellas, although it feels stable in wind and keeps me dry.The mechanism is different too: the button opens it and collapses the canopy, while shortening the shaft is done manually.More to get used to than a basic umbrella, so I can't say much about lasting quality yet.

Jacqueline Weiss

Nothing happened to the umbrella itself.

Living in Portland means I get plenty of chances to use an umbrella. The cheap little ones I used to carry never felt very dependable in the wind. This one has been a much better companion, and after three years it is still doing what I need.It gets four stars from me mainly because packing it away takes a firm push. The button shuts the canopy, then you push the telescoping stem down yourself. If your hands are weak, or you have arthritis, that part could be awkward. Otherwise it is straightforward. Also, this is comfortable cover for me, not something I would choose for two adults sharing. I'm on my second one because I left the first on the bus I take to work. Nothing happened to the umbrella itself. If this one went missing as well, I'd be happy to replace it.

Jack Abbott

Feels like a really solid umbrella.

Feels like a really solid umbrella. The cheap ones I had in Atlanta were enough there, but since moving to Sacramento I've had them turn inside out and give up in the wind. This one has done well up to now. Feels well put together and comfortable to hold. I'll come back after we get a proper windy storm and say how it copes, nothing that strong since I got it...we had trees coming down in the last bad one and everything, so if that comes round again it will get tested....
