It folds neatly for carrying and feels comfortable in the hand.

Thoughtful construction, convenient push-button operation and a pleasing finish make this a very agreeable everyday umbrella. It folds neatly for carrying and feels comfortable in the hand. A good choice for someone wanting practicality without a cumbersome full-length umbrella.

Had this along on our camping trip last weekend and was glad of it.

Had this along on our camping trip last weekend and was glad of it. My wife and I sat close together by the campfire and it kept the light rain off us. I like how substantial the ribs feel too. There wasn't much wind to judge that side of it, but it seems well put together for future trips.

A nice looking umbrella.

A nice looking umbrella. My daughter would not use one before because opening and shutting it hurt her fingers. With this one she can press a button for the canopy, so she is much more willing to carry it now. I help with pushing the pole down afterwards. Only thing is getting it neatly into the sleeve takes a little arranging, it is not so tidy after closing. Otherwise I am very satisfy with it.

Much prefer that to wearing a hat.

I've used an umbrella for shade for years because my hair is getting thin on top. Much prefer that to wearing a hat. No flattened hair afterwards! This replaces one I lost and gives me a comfortable patch of shade on hot days. The size is right for me on my own. You could squeeze two under it, but somebody would miss out on proper cover from sun or rain.

It has earned its place by the door.

After a year here in North Carolina, I am beginning to doubt all the people who insist this amount of rain is unusual. This umbrella lives near our back door and gets used at least weekly for taking the dogs into the yard. Not exactly a glamorous job for it, but it is nice not to get soaked while waiting for them. The umbrellas I used before would start looking tired pretty quickly. This one still opens the same way and the fabric looks good despite all those outings. It has earned its place by the door.

A lovely umbrella and it feels solidly put together.

A lovely umbrella and it feels solidly put together. Being a very small woman, I do feel a little extravagant with this much coverage just for myself on the walk to work, particularly on narrow Seattle pavements. It's not a reason to avoid it, just something to consider if you tend to take up very little space yourself.

Not a deal breaker, just worth knowing.

After going through cheap umbrellas, I wanted something that didn't feel disposable. The initial cost made me hesitate, but a year and a half of regular use has made it seem more reasonable. People who've borrowed it usually comment on how substantial it feels. The oval loop handle is smooth and comfortable, rather than feeling like an afterthought. The fabric also feels decent, not thin and papery. Everything still works as it did at the start. Having a button to open it AND pull the canopy shut is genuinely handy (you still need to press the telescoping shaft down yourself afterwards, until it catches, before it'll open again). Took me a moment to work that out. The ribs have some give rather than feeling completely rigid, and it's been fine in everyday rain. Couple of drawbacks: Folded up, it occupies more room in my bag than I'd expected from a compact umbrella. The sleeve tidies it up but doesn't magically make it smaller. Not a deal breaker, just worth knowing. Then there's the weight! This isn't the little umbrella you chuck in a pocket and forget about. I notice it when carrying a full bag already. For me the sturdier feel is worth that compromise, but if you're after the lightest possible option, this probably isn't it.

Rain stays off my head, which is after all the main requirement.

Rain stays off my head, which is after all the main requirement. The same button opens it and collapses the canopy; pushing the telescoping part back in finishes the folding. It packs down neatly yet gives decent room overhead. My only curious observation is that I prefer holding it in my right hand. I normally carry things on the left, so apparently even an umbrella can upset my arrangements. Nothing about it prevents using either hand, of course. A minor adjustment on my part and hardly something to hold against it.

Alexis Blankenship

For the money the umbrella seems a good deal.

For the money the umbrella seems a good deal. Opened up it gives a nice amount of cover in heavier rain, and the blue is a bit diferent from all the dark umbrellas I usually see. The fabric feels good also. The one thing i would change is the thickness when folded, it takes a little more bag room than i expected, anyway it still comes along with me and is easy enough to carry.

My wife is delighted with this umbrella.

My wife is delighted with this umbrella. She's having chemo and wanted something she could hold over herself for a little shade outside. People keep telling her how nice it looks. We did buy another, we liked the first that much. The button action wasn't quite familiar to her in the beginning, but after a few tries she was comfortable with it. She's using it a lot.

Anna Cooley

A good little umbrella.

A good little umbrella. Packs down small, feels sturdy and does what I need. Keeping it facing into the wind has worked for me so far; obviously there's a limit, don't expect miracles in a gale. It lives in my work bag and I barely notice it there. The asking price here is a bit much though, I paid $12 for mine in a shop.

Kristina Lowery

Having used it, I can say the quality is excellent!

I took a while deciding because I didn't want to pay over the odds for an umbrella. Having used it, I can say the quality is excellent! The automatic opening is handy and the loop handle is comfortable for me. It opens out to a decent size too. The black finish inside looks neat ,nothing fussy about it. In the end the important thing for me is buying something that feels worth keeping rather than replacing after a few wet days.

Adrian Marsh

This has become my everyday umbrella.

This has become my everyday umbrella. Opens smoothly with the button and has handled the fall wind well. It folds to a useful size -- too long for my purse, but fine in a backpack. The important part is that I can keep myself AND my big messenger bag covered when it's tucked close beside me.Cons: None so far.

Ricardo Rollins

I spent a while reading reviews before settling on this one.

Where I live we don't have rain all that often, but it tends to arrive with a fair bit of wind. Last rainy season I went through several cheap umbrellas in a very short time, so I decided to look for something more substantial instead of just buying another of the same sort. I spent a while reading reviews before settling on this one. So far it has done very well on the wet walks around campus. There is enough cover for me and most of my backpack when I position it properly, which is what matters when I'm carrying books and notes. It feels reassuringly solid rather than flimsy, and the breezes I've met haven't turned a rainy walk into a wrestling match. Being able to fold it down afterwards is useful too, because I don't want a full length umbrella to carry between classes. It costs more than the basic umbrellas I used to pick up without much thought, but judging by how it has performed up to now, I think the extra was worth paying.

Connie Bird

For the price, I'm impressed with how solid the whole thing seems.

Needed an umbrella with the right curve for a Halloween jellyfish costume, and this worked beautifully. It doesn't feel like a flimsy costume prop either -- we can use it in the rain afterwards. My daughter is 11 and tall for her age, and the size worked well for her. For the price, I'm impressed with how solid the whole thing seems. Definitely NOT a throwaway purchase.

Clifford Shepherd

My new umbrella was put straight to work in windy rain.

My new umbrella was put straight to work in windy rain. I stayed dry and the canopy kept its shape, with several umbrellas around me going inside out. The button to open it and fold the canopy is a big help too. So, so pleased with it! Would happily buy another if I needed one.

Tracy Tyler

I'll come back if anything changes.

Construction looks solid, the sort of thing I can imagine lasting through regular use rather than being treated like something disposable. Mine will probably spend a fair amount of time in the back of a hot car, as most of my umbrellas have, so time will tell on that score. I'll come back if anything changes. For not much more than I paid for my last bargain umbrella, this seems a sensible step up. The handle gives a secure hold and the button action is positive without that alarming bang some umbrellas make when they spring open. It opens to a useful size but still folds down neatly enough to stow. The fabric seems a reasonable compromise between substance and how much space it takes up, though I'm not pretending to know much about fabric. The carry sleeve is fairly basic and takes a little patience to get on. I doubt that will matter much to me, I'm generally more likely to misplace the sleeve than admire it...

Happy with the finish and how easy it is to carry.

Bought this mainly for shade while watching my son's sports, not because I needed another rain umbrella. I'm glad I did. At his baseball game I could sit on the bench with it above me and keep the sun off without spreading a huge canopy over everyone nearby. There's still space for somebody to sit beside me, which matters when the benches fill up. Opening it is simple and it packs away without becoming another big thing to drag along. It looks understated but smart, much nicer than the tired umbrella I was using. It will be useful for rainy days too~ but having my own little patch of shade was the point. Would recommend it!! Happy with the finish and how easy it is to carry.

Leslie Fisher

Honestly, this is a brilliant umbrella.

Honestly, this is a brilliant umbrella. There's good cover once it's open, and it felt steady in the wind, which matters with the weather here. The loop handle sits comfortably in my hand and feels secure. It folds down, but I do notice the weight in a backpack, so I don't carry it every single day. For concerts, picnics or those important "please don't ruin my hair" days, this is really worth taking along. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

Jillian Mcclain

Unfortunately the closing action took a little getting used to.

I like using this one, and it has dealt with the weather well up to now. Plenty of cover for two people standing close, yet it packs down small enough to go in my bag easily.Unfortunately the closing action took a little getting used to. From fully packed down, the button opens it as expected, but pressing it again only folds the canopy. You still need to push the shaft back in by hand until it locks, so closing isn't completely hands-off. I had pictured the whole thing coming down with that second press. That wouldn't really bother me except that resetting it needs a firmer push than the other umbrellas I've used. Not impossible, just more effort than I would like when trying to get everything put away.***One closing tip (found this out myself): hold it OUT and away from you before you press to fold it, rather than keeping it above your head, unless a shower of the collected water is what you want!

Travis Sosa

Pretty much what I wanted.

Pretty much what I wanted. Keeps the rain off. Pressing the button opens it straight away and another press brings the canopy in. Compressing the shaft afterwards needs a firm push, though, so putting it away isn't completely effortless. A touch bulkier in my work bag than I pictured, but I wanted something for an ordinary rainy winter day, not serious storm weather. For that I'm pleased. I like the beige color too. It's a softer look when everything outside is grey.

Darrell Montes

I liked it straight away and my nephew is just as pleased with it.

My nephew is nearly two and is fascinated by umbrellas at the moment. I chose this one for him and he was so excited when we opened it. It's a proper umbrella rather than a little toy, so a grown up does the opening and closing for him. He loves being under it and holding on with help. The fabric and stitching look nicely finished. I liked it straight away and my nephew is just as pleased with it.

Arrived within a week.

Arrived within a week. Very useful umbrella on the golf course, especially when the sun is out. I used it last week on a hot day and it was nice to have some shade while waiting around. Not one of the huge golf umbrellas, but enough cover for me and easier to put away in the buggy afterwards. The beige fabric is a nice colour too. Good value at the price I paid. Very happy with it.

Gabrielle Church

Rain feels a little less dreary with this umbrella.

Rain feels a little less dreary with this umbrella. Saw one in a shop while travelling and passed it up, so finding it online later was a nice surprise. The button pops it up fast, as I discovered still sitting in the car...oops. Press again to fold the canopy, and then shorten the shaft yourself. A smart looking umbrella and I'm glad I didn't miss out on it.

Ronnie Barrera

Happy to recommend this one.

I needed a folding umbrella I could keep with me for the on and off rain we get in San Francisco during the wet season. What worried me most was the breeze that tends to arrive with the showers (you see plenty of people wrestling with their umbrellas here). So far this has done just what I needed. It's kept its shape in the gusts I've encountered and has opened properly each time. It isn't one of those tiny pocket umbrellas, but it's portable enough for me to carry about. Happy to recommend this one.

Shirley Mora

She uses hers a lot.

After years of getting good use out of mine, I picked one up for my girlfriend as a gift. It feels well put together and has been keeping her dry on rainy walks. She likes the black colour, and a couple of people at work have commented on it. Not a flashy present, but a thoughtful one for somebody who is always getting caught without an umbrella. She uses hers a lot.

Kathy Gill

Funny how that works.

Trying too hard is something I find myself saying about half the things I see, usually with my family nearby telling me to stop. So naturally, when I needed an umbrella for all the rain here, I spent far too long wondering whether this one looked too fashionable for me :) Hard to tell from a picture. My wife said an umbrella was just an umbrella, and perhaps I could stop discussing it. Well, I bought it anyway! It is quite understated in person, and the shape when it opens has a very pleasing order to it. Now my wife keeps taking it and apparently it is our umbrella. Funny how that works. It looks good without making us feel dressed up just to walk down the street. A success!

Kylie Mason

It arrived sooner than I thought it would.

It arrived sooner than I thought it would. Theres a sleeve with it, handy for keeping it all together rather than having loose folds in my bag. Take it out and press the button and it springs right open, which is pretty satisfying. Press again and the top gathers in, then you push the handle towards the top until the shaft is short again. Not all done by the button but easy enough. The oval loop on the handle looks pretty neat as well.

Paul Wilkins

So pleased I finally found it.

I hunted through so many shops for an umbrella that would look cute in photos of my 5 month old son. Couldn't find one ANYWHERE! Then I found this and the price was hard to pass up. It looks lovely as a prop, and feels better made than I expected too. So pleased I finally found it.

Carol Meyers

However, for shade it's been lovely.

I've spent the last year looking for an umbrella I'd actually enjoy carrying for shade in summer, and I'm glad I picked this! It feels well put together, and the shape looks even nicer opened up than I expected. I have chronic vertigo, so a secure grip matters to me; the oval handle is nice to hold, though I wouldn't use an umbrella as a walking support. However, for shade it's been lovely. I've had quite a few compliments while out with it too. I'd choose another if I ever needed to, especially for the price. It works for rain as well, so it isn't just a summer purchase.

Jacob Madden

At about 390 g it also has a bit of weight to it.

This gray folding umbrella looks smart and has a substantial, well-finished feel. The stated 105 cm is the open width; folded length is around 40 cm, so 'compact' should not be read as tiny. At about 390 g it also has a bit of weight to it. The construction looks sound, and I expect it to be in use for a good many years.

Ashley Sexton

Each time it has rained, it has opened properly and kept me dry.

I should start by saying I haven't had very much use out of this yet. Each time it has rained, it has opened properly and kept me dry. I wanted a backup in my backpack for coming home from work without my rain jacket. What annoyed me was the space it took up among my things. I had imagined something smaller that could just disappear into the bag, and this wasn't quite that. It felt like more rearranging than I wanted for something I was only carrying just in case. Update: I've now moved things around and found a comfortable spot for it in the backpack, so the fitting problem is sorted. The umbrella itself is satisfactory and does what I need when it rains.

Andre Mata

Much nicer than carrying a long umbrella all day.

Living in NYC means most of my day is on foot, with whatever I need carried along. This one actually earns its space in my bag!! It folds down neatly, and the weight is reasonable enough that I don't keep leaving it home because the forecast looks clear. The gray is plain, which suits me. I wouldn't call it a storm umbrella, but it doesn't feel like a disposable one either. It's dealt with the gusts I've met walking around without becoming a wrestling match. Much nicer than carrying a long umbrella all day. I'm getting two more for gifts, since this is the sort of practical thing people really use (and I've gone through enough folding umbrellas to appreciate a decent one!).

Holly Walls

Quite a lively opening action!!

Quite a lively opening action!! The canopy is medium sized rather than enormous, about 105cm across. Pressing the button makes it spring out quickly, so I can imagine that surprising someone the first time. A bit fun really! Feels solid to me and I thought the price was good~

Lonnie Duncan

Not a fancy umbrella, but it has been doing its job.

Not a fancy umbrella, but it has been doing its job. I'd hung onto a tiny one for ages because I kept putting off choosing a replacement. Decided to take a chance on this one after reading a few mixed comments. The fabric feels a little thin to me, although it has kept the rain off non the less. I have room underneath without pulling my shoulders in, and two people could share if they stood close. It's not the kind of thing I'd call a giant golf umbrella, more something you can actually carry around.Quick note on carrying it, folded it's a bit bulkier than my old tiny one but still manageable. For what it costs I'm satisfied. I would recommend it if you need an ordinary umbrella rather than something fancy for the course.

Devin Dillon

The build quality seems very good.

The build quality seems very good. It has a solid feel and a noticeable bit of weight. Folded, everything stays together neatly. Opened up, the coverage is generous. The button responds well and the canopy material feels substantial. No rain test yet, but first impressions are very positive.

Roger Pruitt

I ordered three and the pink wasn't quite identical on all of them!

if you are particular about pink, mine looked a little different from the shade I expected. I ordered three and the pink wasn't quite identical on all of them!however, the umbrellas themselves are very nice - plenty of cover -- and they've been holding up well so far.

Kristi Cervantes

I had thought the button handled the whole thing.

The umbrella looks nicely put together and opens straight away, but packing it back up takes a little more effort than I had pictured. Pressing the button brings in the canopy, then I still need to push the pole down myself. I had thought the button handled the whole thing. It's not a big enough inconvenience to send it back, and it keeps me dry, just not quite as effortless as I expected.

Samuel Bradford

My wife had been asking for a decent umbrella for ages.

My wife had been asking for a decent umbrella for ages. We had been making do with the flimsy folding sort (the ones you don't expect much from). She is delighted with this one. I chose pink and it looks really nice, not overly bright. She has talked about it enough that I probably could have kept it back for her birthday. Missed that opportunity! The oval handle is a nice detail, and the whole thing feels substantial without being awkward to carry. It folds down neatly, so it isn't another long umbrella to find space for. Mainly, though, she is happy to take it out when the weather turns, which is the point. I've now decided to get one for myself as well. Not the lowest price, but it seems worth spending a little more.

Kaitlin Wong

I read up on it first and decided it was worth a try.

Living on Chicago's lakefront, I had already lost a few umbrellas to the wind before buying this one. I read up on it first and decided it was worth a try. It has coped with the rain and blustery walks much better than my old ones. Four years on, I'm still taking the same umbrella out with me!

Ronald Raymond

The handle is what really makes it for me.

My hesitation was the compact format, not anything wrong with the umbrella. Usually I find the little folding ones easy to take along and rather less useful once you're actually standing under them. This one feels much better balanced than I expected. There is enough canopy for me, it doesn't feel flimsy, and the weight is quite reasonable for something that opens this wide. The handle is what really makes it for me. It is a closed oval loop rather than the curved hook I tend to associate with umbrellas. I find it comfortable to hold, with room to change my grip instead of keeping my fingers clamped in exactly one position. That matters more to me than it probably does to some people. A handle can look perfectly good and still make your hand ache after a while. This one suits my hand, although I wouldn't assume everyone would find the same shape equally comfortable. I did wonder whether a bigger, full-length umbrella would be the better choice. More coverage sounds attractive, but then I remember having to carry the thing when the rain stops. At roughly 105cm across, this is a useful compromise for me. Folded down it is still a noticeable item, not one of those tiny umbrellas you forget is in your bag, but I prefer that tradeoff to having hardly any cover. My reservation is the same one I have with most umbrellas: you still need to hold it sensibly when the wind catches it. Flexible ribs don't mean your arm stops feeling the pull. Mine has felt sturdy in ordinary rain, which is what I bought it for. The automatic action is handy, though it does mean a mechanism rather than something entirely manual. I generally like simple things, so that was something I thought about. Here the button raises the umbrella and also collapses the canopy; you then push the telescoping shaft back yourself. Once I understood that distinction, closing it made sense. I like the convenience more than I expected to. Five stars from me because the balance of coverage, carrying size and comfort is right. Someone wanting maximum shelter or the smallest possible package may choose differently. You do still have to manage an umbrella in wind, whatever its size. For my needs this is a very comfortable middle ground, and I'm glad I didn't dismiss it just because it folds.

Robert Gregory

I expected this umbrella to be something I would keep using for years.

I expected this umbrella to be something I would keep using for years. The pink looked attractive, there was enough coverage for me, and it felt quite substantial for a compact umbrella. My first impression was that I had made a sensible purchase. After a period of use, I began noticing scuffing around the handle. It was still perfectly secure to hold, but that early worn appearance took some of the shine off my initial enthusiasm. As time went on, the folds of the fabric also started looking rather tired. I kept using it because opening it was convenient and it was still keeping me dry. More recently, after bringing it in from drying on the porch, I had a proper look at it and noticed how visible the marks had become. I cannot point to any particularly rough treatment that would explain it. There is nothing wrong with its ability to cover me in rain; it simply looks older than I had expected it to by this stage. It now stays in the car as a spare for unexpected showers. Useful enough in that role, but the appearance has disappointed me, and I am less convinced about how well it will age.

Natalie Bradley

An umbrella, and a very impressive one.

An umbrella, and a very impressive one. This is my second, because the first lives in the car and I wanted one waiting at home as well. The frame feels carefully put together...all those ribs hold the material evenly and it doesn't have that loose feeling some folding umbrellas have. I was surprised by how substantial it feels when you open it. You can tell where the money went, at least that is my impression. I expect to get a lot of use from both of them. If another is needed I would choose this one without spending time looking again. Recommended.

Maxwell Compton

I like the oval handle too, it feels easy to hold onto.

Much more room under this than I thought there would be, which I'm pleased about. Two of us can get close together under it and maybe this sounds silly but I really wanted green because it looks cheerful when the weather is miserable.I like the oval handle too, it feels easy to hold onto.I did wish the fabric looked a little less "creased" when I first opened it, but it has been folded up after all, and I think it'll look even better once I'm actually out using it!

Laura Humphrey

Feels solid and well put together.

A little more cover than I expected (a good thing!) - not one of those tiny canopies. It still takes some room in a bag when folded, but thats fine with me. Feels solid and well put together. The button can open AND draw the canopy back in; I push the shaft down myself afterwards. Much easier than fiddling with everything in the wet!UPDATE: still using it happily, everything working as it should!LATER UPDATE: still here, still my first choice when I need an umbrella

Quick arrival and a good umbrella.

Quick arrival and a good umbrella. Quick arrival and a good umbrella. Quick arrival and a good umbrella. Quick arrival and a good umbrella. Quick arrival and a good umbrella. Quick arrival and a good umbrella. Quick arrival and a good umbrella. Quick arrival and a good umbrella.

Probably my favourite umbrella so far.

Probably my favourite umbrella so far. It sits in my bag or the car door without taking over, yet opens out enough to keep me well covered in heavy rain. The closing button is the best bit. I can collapse the canopy before stepping through a doorway, then shorten the shaft by hand once inside. Much less fuss than wrestling a wet umbrella outside.

Alvin Clements

My niece is six and was thrilled with her umbrella.

My niece is six and was thrilled with her umbrella. It was a rainy-season present and having one of her very own was a big deal. I showed her the button and helped with folding it away at first, then she got the hang of it (she wanted to open it herself as soon as we stopped the car!). We've had it about six months, although it hasn't been out all that often. Still looking good and doing what it should in light rain. I would save it for normal showers rather than take her out with it in really windy weather.

Julia Cunningham

It has done well so far.

Not the most exciting thing to say about an umbrella, I know, but I like that it stays manageable when it's wet and windy. It has done well so far. The cream white is cheerful against a miserable sky, too. It's a bit larger folded than my previous one, yet I can still tuck it into my purse.

Daniel Gilmore

Just press to open it and hold it where I want the shade.

I needed a handheld umbrella for shade at the beach, rather than the big patio types I kept finding in local shops. Looking online was a better way to find a smaller one. I chose this for the folding design and the black underside, with no big pole to lug about. Just press to open it and hold it where I want the shade. Much easier to carry with the rest of my beach things!
