A cream white canopy is a cheerful change on a gloomy wet day. It's also been a remarkably sturdy umbrella. Mine has seen plenty of rain and windy days over the years, and it still opens properly and keeps me dry. No trouble with it so far. Happy to recommend it.

Otherwise, it's a very good umbrella.
Four stars from me. The reason? Folding it right down still takes a proper push. The button does open it and collapse the canopy, so I'm not calling that a fault. Just something to know.Otherwise, it's a very good umbrella. It feels solid in the hand, too. Oh, and the size: there's a fair amount over your head once it's open. Yes, it's compact, but compact doesn't mean tiny (apparently I needed reminding). Folded, it's still a noticeable thing to carry, not something that disappears into your hand. Good coverage is the trade-off.

Such a cute umbrella, and it seems a good bit more solid than the children's ones we've bought before. I would certainly recommend it if you want something that isn't just cute to look at. Sent it as a gift to our nephew and a picture came back almost straight away (not even ten minutes after he got it). He was sooooo pleased with it, which is really what you hope for when sending a present!

He's found this umbrella fantastic!
My husband has peripheral neuropathy and can be unsteady on his feet, so a clear view of where he's walking is important. He's found this umbrella fantastic! Holding it up gives him rain cover without blocking his view ahead. It feels sturdy in the hand, but we use it as an umbrella, not a walking support.

Finally an umbrella I don't resent carrying.
Finally an umbrella I don't resent carrying. I spent way too much replacing cheap ones over the past year, and got fed up with the whole routine. Said screw it and went for this. It feels a lot more solid out on the city streets and has handled the gusts I've met so far. Now I can just walk along stayin dry instead of looking for the next place to hide.

I see no reason a dad can't use the same umbrella as his daughter.
I see no reason a dad can't use the same umbrella as his daughter. I bought three, with two going to her for Christmas and one staying with me. Folded up they don't take much room. The opening action is handy getting out of the car: I put it through the partly opened door, press the button, and have cover before stepping out. Pressing it again pulls the canopy shut, but you still have to push the shaft back down by hand. That is how it is meant to work, not a problem with the closing. Mine has been used several times now without trouble, and I haven't heard any complaints from my daughter either. I would recommend it.

It has made him very happy, and I think it was money well spent.
Dad needed something for the city because his old umbrellas were enormous (and he kept catching people with them). The green outside with black underneath appealed to him, and so did the button action that opens it and draws the canopy closed. The folded size was another plus; he can actually take this one along. I spent a while looking at umbrellas in shops before choosing this.It has made him very happy, and I think it was money well spent.

A good replacement for the one I wore out.
A good replacement for the one I wore out. I wanted a change for walking around New York, and the gray has a nice understated look. It's coped with the wind near my home (which really does funnel down the street. The button folds the canopy, so that part is handy. You still shorten the pole manually afterwards, and I'd prefer it needed a little less effort. It's not a fault, just a small convenience thing that would make an otherwise good umbrella better for me.

This one has been great on my walks and looks lovely as well.
Needed an umbrella for downtown Atlanta, where the wind gets channelled between those tall buildings. After rain you see discarded umbrellas all along the street, so I wanted something that felt solid. This one has been great on my walks and looks lovely as well. People have commented on it several times already. Liked it enough to put another in the car. An easy recommendation!

Much nicer sitting in shade than having the sun straight on me.
Had this over me while watching my son's baseball game in some really hot sunshine. What a difference! Much nicer sitting in shade than having the sun straight on me. We could tuck close together under it, though it's mainly a one person umbrella. Light enough that holding it wasn't a chore.
Glenn Kirk
No hesitation recommending it, we've both been happy with ours!
My daughter needed an umbrella here in Florida, we get enough rain to make it essential! This one has: A button she can manageGood cover over her shouldersA nice simple lookA really SOLID feel to it.I liked hers so much I got myself one as well! No hesitation recommending it, we've both been happy with ours!

The loop handle feels comfortable and the cream white is very nice.
Only arrived today so no real rain test yet, but my first impression is a solid, straightforward umbrella. The loop handle feels comfortable and the cream white is very nice. you press the button and the canopy goes up, press again and it gathers in. The pole then needs pushing down yourself before packing it away. There is a good amount of room underneath for standing with a child in the rain. Seems a fair price for how it feels. I'll come back to this if anything changes with use.

At last, an umbrella with the sort of design I wanted!
At last, an umbrella with the sort of design I wanted! The one I had before lasted twenty years and was getting pretty worn, so replacing it wasn't something I was looking forward to. I liked that old one a lot. This has the simple look and convenient opening I was after. The price seemed reasonable too. I would be happy to get another when needed.

Works for a rain shower too.
My wife takes this along when she golfs in the Florida summer. Having some shade between shots makes being out there much more comfortable for her. She would not enjoy all those hours in direct sunshine without an umbrella. The canopy gives her a good patch of shade and the whole thing feels sturdy in use. She also likes being able to get it open with one hand rather than fussing with a catch. For anyone spending time outdoors in that heat, it is a useful thing to carry. Works for a rain shower too.
Juan Cain
A very handy umbrella.
Plenty of cover when it's up, yet surprisingly compact folded. Press the button and it springs open ready to use. Another press collapses the canopy (you still have to push the telescoping shaft back down by hand before opening again). That's easy enough once you know how it works. A very handy umbrella.

It was nice to have presents they could actually use.
Two of these were my Christmas '09 gifts for my daughter and daughter-in-law, both business professionals. They report that the button is simple to use and that people have commented favorably on the unusual handles. It was nice to have presents they could actually use. I would recommend these for the practical design and appearance. The fabric and finishing seem good, although three months of ownership is not long enough to make much judgment about how they will last.

Bought one for my husband last year, and liked using his so much that I've now ordered my own!!The blue looks lovely and it feels solid without being a nuisance to carry. The loop handle is comfortable, and I appreciate the quick opening and canopy closing. We both keep ours in our bags for those just-in-case days--very handy having them there.I'd quite like a patterned version too, but I'm happy with this plain colour...

A better travel umbrella than I expected.
A better travel umbrella than I expected. Compact enough to pack in its sleeve, but a good usable size once opened. One press puts the canopy up and another brings it down. Easy to pack away afterwards as well. Glad it comes with a sleeve, and the price feels very reasonable for what you get.
Kimberly Colon
I would be very happy to choose this one again!
This pretty pink umbrella makes wet days feel a little less gloomy! I like the cheerful outside and the simple black underneath. It feels solid, and so far everything has worked without fuss. Being able to open it and collapse the canopy with the button is especially handy. I would be very happy to choose this one again!

These are umbrellas that actually get used!
I've bought enough nice looking umbrellas that were disappointing once it actually rained, so this time I put usefulness first. There are now three of these in the household and they've been dependable in everyday rain. The canopy gives me room to walk without constantly checking which shoulder is getting wet. Someone beside you can tuck in too, though it isn't an enormous golf umbrella. The closed oval handle is comfortable and I can keep a secure hold of it. Being able to fold it down also makes it more practical than the big umbrellas I used before. These are umbrellas that actually get used! My only small criticism is the handle's casual appearance, useful as it is, it doesn't have quite the dressed up look I'd choose for a formal outing.
Kurt Gardner
Apparently the new umbrella was not meant for me after all.
We already had an umbrella that I was quite happy with, but my wife kept using it, so I ordered this. You can guess which one she picked and which one I ended up with. Apparently the new umbrella was not meant for me after all.Very sturdy feeling, and nobody needs to decide whether it's for a man or a woman. It's done nicely through the wet, windy weather around Chicago. Two can tuck under it if necessary. Looks like another one is the answer, because she doesn't seem interested in swapping.
Kelli Swanson
No fiddling with catches for that!!
Delighted with this for my four year old girl, though it would suit an older person as well. The sleeve is really useful for putting it away. I help her shorten it afterwards, but she likes pressing the button to open and close the canopy. No fiddling with catches for that!! I'm so taken with the beige that I might get one for myself too!!
Christy Mcguire
Sturdy, a sensible size and easy to use.
Unless you take umbrella shopping extremely seriously, I can't see much to argue with here. Sturdy, a sensible size and easy to use. One lives in my car, another in the office and another at home. Not a glamorous investment, but having one handy whenever it rains has been worth it to me.
Theresa Grant
An umbrella I'd happily suggest to anyone.
An umbrella I'd happily suggest to anyone. Operating it is straightforward and it feels nicely put together. I was looking for something with a bit of staying power, rather than simply the cheapest option. To me it's worth the money. The simple styling would suit either a man or a woman just fine.
Fred Hooper
This one has made me very happy.
Fed up with folding umbrellas that barely shelter anything beyond my shoulders. I needed one to go in my bag but still give me proper cover when the rain comes down. This one has made me very happy. It opens at the button and the canopy closes that way too, which is handy. Feels solid rather than flimsy and there's actually room underneath. Absolutely worth getting!
Becky George
I'm happy to pay a little extra for something that feels solid in use!
What I like is getting decent coverage without having to carry a long umbrella. I can tilt it into slanting rain, and the material has a nice substantial feel. It covers about as much of me as the one I leave at home. This one stays in the car for those sudden Houston showers! Not the cheapest option, and that gave me pause, but the frame looks much better finished than the bargain umbrellas I've handled in stores. I'm happy to pay a little extra for something that feels solid in use!

Finally an umbrella I'm not fighting with!
Finally an umbrella I'm not fighting with! The ones I've had before always seemed to flip at the first gust. This one has dealt with the windy rain I've used it in so far and stayed the right way round. It also doesn't take ages to dry out. People at home keep borrowing it, so I may need a second just to keep one available for myself. Folded up it's manageable to take along, and the oval handle gives me something secure to grip while carrying other things.
Amber Fields
I LOVE not having to struggle to get it up.
This is a handy umbrella: Plenty of cover without feeling clunky, and a quick press has it open. I LOVE not having to struggle to get it up. Two small things I'd change though: A little more room in the sleeve would help AND it's not something I'd squeeze into a pocket. Neither is a big deal for me. Mostly I'm just pleased to have an umbrella that's simple to use :)
Caitlin Rich
I LOVE carrying it.
I am at college and my mother picked this out for the whether here, we get a lot of rain. It feels strong, looks neatly finished and keeps me dry between classes. I LOVE carrying it. The photo really doesn't show how nice it looks in person. Would get another. LOVE IT

She absolutely LOVES this green umbrella!
My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter gets so excited about rainy days! She absolutely LOVES this green umbrella! The colour is bright and looks just as nice as the photo -- she noticed it straight away. There is a good amount of cover for her with me holding it. Looking forward to our next rainy outing.
Lisa Conrad
I'd recommend it.
My 11 yr old son uses this walking home from school. We get some heavy rain and wind here in Florida, and it has done a good job keeping him covered. The push button opening makes things easier. A little bigger folded than he expected, but nicely made and reasonably priced. I'd recommend it.

I've become oddly fond of this umbrella.
I've become oddly fond of this umbrella. After three months I still want a rainy day just for an excuse to bring it out. *cue the dramatic entrance* My girlfriend had a good laugh at my excitement. That loop handle makes it a little different and I enjoy carrying it around. The only small gripe is getting it back into the sleeve. I tend to rush and leave the fabric bunched up, which doesn't help. Taking a moment to smooth the folds before slipping it in makes that easy enough. I keep meaning to be less impatient about it, but that's hardly the umbrella's fault.Overall, I'm happy I went for it.

Opening and closing the canopy is quick and simple.
Opening and closing the canopy is quick and simple. It fits easily in the bag I take to work. Left partly open, it dries pretty fast, which saves me packing it away damp. Basically it's a handy little umbrella that does its job without costing a lot. If anything happened to mine, I'd be happy to buy another just like it.

No real grumbles here...
No real grumbles here...it seems more substantial than the price suggests. My only caution is size if you're thinking of shade at the beach. It suits one person nicely, but if you're the sole person who remembers an umbrella, don't expect room for the whole crowd. Family and friends will have to bring their own shade rather than all squeezing under yours.
Clayton Tucker
He is pleased with how it works.
The green is attractive and makes ours easy to spot when most of the umbrellas around it are black. The button opening is straightforward and the canopy gives decent cover without having a long umbrella to carry. This was a Christmas gift for my engineer husband and he likes the design. He is pleased with how it works.

Considering what I paid, I'm very impressed.
For context, I live somewhere that seems to take rain as an excuse to turn every street into a wind tunnel. You see people holding scraps of umbrellas with an expression that says they have given up on staying dry. Very glamorous.Anyway, I've spent the last three years trying to find one I actually like using here, and this is the one I'd pick. There's enough room underneath without carrying half a tent over your head. The frame has flexed when the wind catches it, rather than immediately giving up, and I've stayed reasonably dry. It is fairly light to hold, which is nice until a gust decides your arm needs some exercise. You still need to keep a grip and angle it sensibly; it isn't a magic shield against weather. For normal use it's been excellent and I haven't had it turn inside out. Considering what I paid, I'm very impressed.

Once I got used to that, putting it away was easy.
Out with the baby most days, and this has been a good umbrella to bring along. It has a bit more weight than a basic one, but the button is worth it for me. Covers me nicely. Closing the canopy is automatic; I just push the shaft down myself afterwards. Once I got used to that, putting it away was easy.

After several weeks in the Texas sunshine I am glad I went ahead.
I don't feel like arguing with everyone about quality, but guesses about where something is made don't tell me whether it is any good. talk about the design and how it works, that helps someone who is reading the comments before buying. I've always liked the idea of taking my own shade along, so that was my main reason for buying this. I went through the comments first and knew I was buying a personal umbrella, not a great big shelter. After several weeks in the Texas sunshine I am glad I went ahead. the shade makes walking much nicer, without having to hunt for every little patch beside a building. It covers me fine, and I don't find it troublesome to pack away when I'm finished. Wind still needs a little common sense, I turn the canopy into it rather than expecting it to do everything for me. It is also useful when there's rain, but for me the everyday shade is what makes it worthwhile. If you want something much bigger, a compact umbrella probably isn't what you are looking for.
Isabel Gamble
Very cute looking umbrella.
Very cute looking umbrella. It's only been opened indoors so far, no rain to try it in yet. The frame has more give than I expected, which makes me wonder about really windy weather. For everyday use it looks promising. Will come back to this once we've had a proper chance to use it.

Rainy game days don't bother us now!!!
Rainy game days don't bother us now!!! Handy umbrella - more coverage than I expected, although it isn't the biggest one we have. We can squeeze together beneath it for a bit...not bad!BTW - hubby decided he wanted one of his own as well. LOL - we can take both umbrellas to the games, stay side-by-side and each have our own bit of shelter!

I like these umbrellas a lot.
I like these umbrellas a lot. This is the second I've had, and it's getting as much use as the first. I'm a fairly big man, so coverage matters to me more than having the tiniest possible thing in my bag. Opened up, this gives me enough room without my shoulders hanging out in the rain. It's not one of those enormous umbrellas you can spread three people under, but that's fine with me. To be honest, it's still a bit awkward carrying it around indoors when it's wet. I tend to put it in the shopping cart while I'm in a store, rather than keep it in my hand. My main gripe is the shape of the handle. The closed loop is useful for holding onto, but I don't find it as comfortable for a long stretch as a more conventional grip. Nothing actually wrong with it, just not my favourite shape. That's really what's keeping this at four stars instead of five.

In Tallahassee, rain has a habit of appearing out of nowhere, so I need an umbrella with me rather than sitting at home. This one is small enough folded to ride in the side pocket of my backpack without getting in my way. It also feels more substantial than I expected from something portable, and the open canopy gives me a reasonable amount of cover.
Shirley Melton
I'm really pleased with this umbrella.
I'm really pleased with this umbrella. It gives me much better coverage than the little one I had before and I like the plain black look. I can see what people mean about needing a firm push to put it away, but I don't find that a problem. The button folds the canopy and then I push the shaft back down myself. Once you're used to that it's straightforward. Getting the fabric folded neatly takes a moment, but that's true of most compact umbrellas I've used. Overall it feels like a good buy. Solid in everyday rain and nicely finished. It seems made for regular use rather than just an occasional emergency!

My first impressions are excellent!
My first impressions are excellent! The umbrella seems solid, with plenty of support beneath the canopy, and the automatic opening is especially convenient. The 30 ribs give it a reassuring feel. It has been useful for keeping rain off and for shade on sunny days. The quality is better than I anticipated at this price.
I also appreciated how carefully it was packed. The parcel reached me in good condition and there was nothing awkward about getting it ready to use. It is pleasant to receive something that lives up to its description. I would certainly recommend this umbrella.

I'm as pleased with it now as when it arrived.
The beige is much nicer in person, not the flat, dull shade I thought I was seeing online. That opening spring has some kick to it. Keep a proper grip and give it room, rather than aiming it towards someone when you press the button. Everything feels substantial, from the ribs to the fabric and the oval handle. We haven't had much rain yet so I can't say much about lasting.Update: Nearly two years on and it still looks lovely. The button action hasn't become sluggish and the frame and fabric are looking very good. It has seen plenty of heavy rain in that time without giving me any trouble. I'm as pleased with it now as when it arrived. A purchase I'm glad I made!

The wind between buildings doesn't help either.
I'm in school downtown and the weather here can change before you've even left class. The wind between buildings doesn't help either. In rainy weather you see plenty of abandoned umbrellas sticking out of the bins, so I wasn't expecting too much. Mine has stayed the right way up so far , which is a pretty good start !
Cheryl Colon
Feels sturdy in my hand and gives me a nice amount of room.
I've had this sort of folding umbrella before and managed to leave more than one behind! but the blue on this one is lovely when it opens--i'm very taken with it! Feels sturdy in my hand and gives me a nice amount of room. It's handled the wind so far and is easily my favorite of the ones I've owned!

There are three of these in use by my boys now.
There are three of these in use by my boys now. Around a dozen rainy outings and so far they're doing well. Plenty of coverage without being unmanageable in their hands. The little children's umbrellas we used before left too much of them sticking out, so this has been a worthwhile change.
Michael Montoya
Used it only a handful of times yet.
Used it only a handful of times yet. Thicker when folded than I had in mind, and takes up more of my briefcase than I wanted.I was after an umbrella I could leave in there and forget about. This isn't quite that, although the quality seems good and it feels durable. May need a smaller one for the case and keep this for other use. Not blaming the umbrella--I wanted something substantial and that's what I got, just hadn't pictured the folded size properly.
Andrea Mcpherson
This one has handled my rainy walks well and doesn't feel flimsy.
After my last umbrella flipped over and a passerby had a laugh at my expense, i wanted something a bit more convincing for, umm, wet weather. This one has handled my rainy walks well and doesn't feel flimsy. Only thing i'm not keen on is getting the fabric folded neatly again. takes a bit of fiddling, but it goes back together fine in the end.
