excellent for the wet european winter I bought it for.

excellent for the wet european winter I bought it for. Small and light when folded, and rolls back up neatly. lovely amount of cover, enough for me plus my briefcase, or another person at a pinch. Really useful having a button to open it and close the canopy when one hand is occupied. With that width you do have to lift or tilt it past people on busy pavements, but I'd happily do that for the coverage.

The plain black was what appealed to me first.

The plain black was what appealed to me first. We get rain often here so I wanted something I would enjoy carrying, not just leave at home. It's a good size for me and the button action is simple. You need a bit of extra pressure to shorten the shaft by hand after the canopy closes, just worth knowing. My favorite thing is how tidy it is once I've gathered the fabric together. It slips into its carrying sleeve without much fuss and doesn't feel like a bundle I'm fighting with.I'd happily choose this one again!

Rain and a bit of wind haven't bothered it at all.

Fantastic umbrella. Rain and a bit of wind haven't bothered it at all. Feels remarkably sturdy for the money. The coverage is more generous than I expected from one that folds away. You do need to mind other people on a crowded pavement, but keeping dry is worth a little manoeuvring!

Kathryn Luna

It's light and and a bit different.

The handle seems to bother some people but I don't think it takes away from the looks at all. It's light and and a bit different. I'm a student walking around a big campus in the Northwest, so that loop handle is handy for carrying it and I don't feel weighed down.

I help tuck it away afterwards.

The little one I look after is thrilled to have an umbrella of his own! He manages the button himself to open it & fold the canopy! I help tuck it away afterwards. He can hold it up on the walk from the car to preschool & I keep my umbrella for myself. Such a hit! HE LOVES IT!

Good value, just don't expect masses of room!

After my husband misplaced our old umbrella, we needed another for the dog walks, otherwise the rainy ones were going to be his job! This one has been handy to take along and has kept me dry so far. We mostly use it for that rather than carrying it everywhere. I will say it is more of a one person umbrella than the big one we had before. Sharing with my husband is a bit of a squeeze, but on my own it's fine. Haven't been out with it in much wind yet so I can't say about that. Good value, just don't expect masses of room!

The design looks good and the frame feels nicely put together.

For everyday rain it's fine, but I wouldn't choose it if being out in exposed, windy weather is the main reason for buying. The design looks good and the frame feels nicely put together. There's a fair amount of give in it, which takes some getting used to, and I prefer a bigger canopy when rain comes in sideways. It does the ordinary job, just doesn't feel like enough of an improvement for what I paid.

Just as I hoped it would be, and nicely packed too.

Just as I hoped it would be, and nicely packed too. My daughter had it for her birthday and was so happy with it. Dropped it off at her work, and the timing couldn't have been better. A thunderstorm came along when she was leaving for home, so it got used that very day! Think I'll order myself one next!

If you're out in sunshine, think about some SHADE!

Really suits me for shade, although I think it could cost a little less, But there you go!If you're out in sunshine, think about some SHADE! The blue top and dark underside look good, and standing under the canopy beats being in full sun. I've spent ages comparing umbrellas and I'm glad I settled on this. Rain isn't the only reason to carry one, dont forget that. Take some shade along with you when the sun comes out!

My husband picked this umbrella and it has only just arrived.

My husband picked this umbrella and it has only just arrived. The packaging was TIGHT and he spent a good few minutes trying to free it without making a complete mess of everything. There was a fair amount of muttering at the wrapping, which wasn't quite the grand first impression he had in mind. Anyway, once out, he liked the feel of it and the weight seems sensible. Looks quite smart when opened up. We haven't put it through any proper wind and rain yet, so can't report on that part, but hubby is pleased and that makes it a good purchase here.

One button makes the canopy pop open and fold down, so convenient!

One button makes the canopy pop open and fold down, so convenient! The size suits me too ♡ Getting into the car is less of a scramble now. My old umbrella was long and always took up too much room, this one folds shorter ♡ It's handy that it can do shade as well as rain, but I still find myself wondering how it'll be when the rain really comes? Haven't had that test yet, I'm all ready for the rainy season anyway ♀(゚Д゚щ)

Seems durable to me.

Seems durable to me. The extending stem has that joined-up feel (normal for a folding one isn't it?). After several wet weeks it's still done everything needed. The automatic opening and canopy closing comes in useful. Before opening again you have to shorten the stem manually, not just keep pressing.A tidy space saver over the full length kind.

OK, keeping dry, let's be realistic here, this is still an umbrella.

I use mine a lot getting to work in NYC, and it's been useful for about six years now. The ribs cope well enough with the wind I normally run into. OK, keeping dry, let's be realistic here, this is still an umbrella. Rain being blown in sideways is going to get at you, even if your head and the tops of your shoulders are covered. With rain falling more or less straight down it does the job well, and a little wind hasn't been a problem for mine. If getting wet at all is out of the question, put on a proper heavy raincoat instead of expecting an umbrella to do everything. If a coat doesn't suit the New York fashion-model look you're after, then fine, take the umbrella, but I'd want a bigger canopy for more coverage in that sideways stuff.

Martha Silva

I can't speak for years of wear yet, but so far so good.

Shade is the main reason I carry this, and I've mentioned it to several friends already. We have very hot days here and getting out of the direct sunshine makes being outside much nicer. Rain is less common for us, but it has handled that nicely too!! It looked much as described when it arrived and was nicely finished as well. A little more weight in my bag than I'd ideally like, though not enough to stop me using it.I can't speak for years of wear yet, but so far so good. Sent one to my girlfriend in another state after enjoying mine, and she likes hers too. Would definately suggest giving it a try.

It is still in excellent condition.

After about three years of use, I appreciate this umbrella just as much on sunny days as on wet ones. My skin is very sensitive to sunshine, and sunscreen often irritates it, so having shade with me matters. The size is manageable, it is sturdy, and the oval loop handle is easy to hang onto when I'm already carrying things out to the soccer field. What I especially notice is how much more comfortable I am sitting underneath it! Having my own shade makes such a difference. Other parents have shared the shade along the sidelines, then asked where they could get one themselves. It is still in excellent condition. There are times I'd welcome a wider shaded area for my legs and feet, but for something I carry around, this size has been a good compromise. I would certainly recommend it to someone wanting an umbrella for sunshine as well as rain. It isn't something I regret spending money on; the amount of use I've had makes it worthwhile. (I hardly ever bother to leave reviews, particularly for something that isn't a book, but I thought this deserved one.)And it isn't only used for an occasional gentle shower, either. Our summers can get into the 90s, and rain and blustery afternoons are common too. Between the hot sidelines and the wet days, this umbrella has certainly earned its place among the things I take with me!

It feels well made and I've had lovely comments on it.

After more than twenty years with my old underwater-themed umbrella, I wanted something I would enjoy carrying just as much. I'm fussy about how accessories look, and this one caught my eye! It feels well made and I've had lovely comments on it. The real surprise was the button that folds the canopy. Never had that feature before, and now I understand the appeal. So handy! I hope this will be another umbrella I keep for years!

Calvin Hodges

A little towel over the top of the bag sorted that out for me.

School in Cleveland means I don't leave the house trusting the sky, ever. This umbrella has lived in my bag and has been a really good companion on the wet walks between classes. I've had to hang on firmly when it got gusty, but it stayed together and kept me dry at the front. The backpack was another matter, the bit sticking out behind me still caught the rain and I wasn't thrilled about my laptop being in there. A little towel over the top of the bag sorted that out for me.I didn't expect to actually mind rainy walks less because of an umbrella, but here we are. Then somebody helped themselves to it, which is probably the most annoying compliment a purchase can get. I'm ordering the same one again, because I don't want to be without it!

Adrienne Moon

The button was handy!

We spent a fortnight in Bali with hardly a break from the sun. The gray umbrella gave me welcome shade and made the glare much easier on my eyes. In the crowded streets it was up and down constantly. The button was handy! My daughter had one too, and both got a lot of use during those two weeks. I wouldn't hesitate to replace mine with the same if I ever needed to.

Neil Welch

I needed a replacement after losing my last umbrella on a river trip.

I needed a replacement after losing my last umbrella on a river trip. (We had rain for practically a whole day that trip, and think a particularly strong gust sent the old one into the water.) This time I wanted a colour that stood out, partly to brighten a wet day and partly so I wouldn't overlook it when packing up. The green appealed to me and is easy to spot among my things. As an umbrella it seems solid, with plenty of ribs supporting the canopy. There is a little weight to it, though that's a trade-off I'm quite happy with for something that feels substantial.

Stephanie Kim

Really love this umbrella i'll be getting more for me and my other daughter the carabiner handle is a clever idea i remember how many umbrellas people left behind when i was waitressing having it clipped on makes forgetting it less likely and it opens then folds the canopy with a press great little buy

Ellen Stein

I like the way the handle sits in your hand.

I like the way the handle sits in your hand. There is enough space underneath for me and another person if we stand close together. We haven't had any windy weather to try it in yet, but the frame looks strong and it feels solid when opened. The loop on the handle is also useful for hanging it on a peg in the closet. Overall I am impressed with how nicely this umbrella has been put together.

Meghan Villanueva

For the price, it does what I was expecting and looks quite nice…

For the price, it does what I was expecting and looks quite nice for photos or a special occasion. I would have an adult look after opening and closing it for a small girl, though. The button shuts the canopy, but the shaft still needs to be pushed back in by hand, which could be awkward for little hands. It is fine with some help, just more of an umbrella to manage than a lightweight photo prop.

Cody Vargas

Folded down it fits in the case I take to work.

Rain stays off, it feels light enough to carry about, the button is convenient, and it has handled a bit of wind without drama. Folded down it fits in the case I take to work. It isn't the smallest thing in there, but I'd rather have it along than get caught without one.

Patricia Weber

It still folds down small enough for my bag.

I had mine for years until my sister decided 'borrowing' meant keeping it. Naturally I needed a replacement. The canopy feels properly made and gives me a decent amount of cover, without looking like I'm carrying a golf umbrella round. It still folds down small enough for my bag.I do have to straighten the folds a little before putting it away neatly, but that's hardly a job. The button shuts the canopy, then I push the stem down myself. Once packed up it's ready for next time - very happy!

Gabrielle Pierce

I bought this for my MUM.

I bought this for my MUM. She lost the first one and was so upset I ended up getting her another, she LOVES it. The blue is her favourite, just enough colour to brighten a wet day without being too loud. I had picked a brighter one for her as well, but she keeps saying this one is nicer. Maybe that's why she reaches for it so much more. Either way it has gone down very well as a present!

Summer Ward

Much nicer in person than I expected.

Much nicer in person than I expected. The gray is understated and the canopy has a lovely neat shape. Sun hats leave my head feeling hot, so I prefer carrying my shade instead. This covers my shoulders and neck as well as my head. Best for a stroll when my hands aren't full. Being able to fold it makes bringing it along much easier. One press opens it, no fiddling with the ribs. An umbrella doesn't have to be ONLY for rainy days!

Johnny Houston

Its looks have drawn a few compliments as well, which is always nice.

My reasons for choosing this umbrella were (1)comments about how well it handled wind and (2)its appearance. Having used it, I agree with those comments. It has stayed steady during wet, breezy weather and the button is straightforward to operate. Its looks have drawn a few compliments as well, which is always nice.

Karina Good

received this as a gift and it's been a useful one.

received this as a gift and it's been a useful one. Folds down neatly enough for my briefcase and I don't find the weight bothers me. The action is smooth, and the frame feels solid when it's up. A few wet days in New York have given it a proper try already. Not the cheapest umbrella, but I'd rather pay for something I actually feel confident carrying.

Carol Sandoval

Very pleased with it and happy to recommend it at this price.

The rain can come now! I've already had nice comments on this umbrella and I enjoy using it. Two people would be rather close underneath, but for one it seems a perfectly normal size. I've had plenty of umbrellas, including supposedly expensive ones, yet this is the first I've picked out for myself. I prefer it to all of those. It feels light enough to carry about but still well put together, and the push button is kinder to my fingers than fiddling with a catch. The beige is really nice. I'd have preferred it underneath as well instead of black, but that's my artist side being picky rather than anything important. Very pleased with it and happy to recommend it at this price.

Jeff Copeland

This is umbrella number two for me.

This is umbrella number two for me. The other one wasn't worn out, I managed to leave it behind on a plane. Still annoyed with myself over that. I ordered a replacement the following day because I didn't want to be without it. Honestly, it looks and handles like something far more expensive. I'd happily pay more for this. I've even had women comment on how good my umbrella looks...yes, really. Never expected an umbrella to be a conversation starter.

Jaime Avery

Verdict: excellent.

It turned up on the same day the East Coast was getting battered by a Nor'easter! Naturally I had an errand to run outside ... so it got a test straight away. Verdict: excellent. Folded, it's neat enough to take in my bag, and opened there is a good amount of cover for one person. The rain was coming down hard and I stayed comfortably dry underneath. Closing the canopy is quick with the button, though pushing the shaft back down takes a firm shove -- that's the bit you do yourself. Then it's ready to spring open again next time!

Ronnie Adams

Arrived quickly as well so thank you to the seller, I LOVE THIS ONE!

When this Umbrella arrived I expected it to look a little cheap for the money but it really doesn't, I love how it looks! I've had four umbrellas in this style now and somehow people keep walking off with them, apparently I'm not the only one that likes them but I wish they would buy there own, hoping I can hang onto this one for a while. I chose pink and it is so pretty, want to buy another for my 15 year old daughter in a different colour, she would love one too. Arrived quickly as well so thank you to the seller, I LOVE THIS ONE! Would buy again!

Herbert Bruce

What ordinary handheld umbrella could do that?

I am always puzzled by complaints that an umbrella doesn't keep the bottom of your trousers dry in rain coming sideways. What ordinary handheld umbrella could do that? You'd need something that reached almost to the pavement. This one gives the sort of coverage I expect, and is much easier to carry than a huge umbrella. I've used it for about two years now. Yes, my trouser legs occasionally get damp, but my suits have been fine. Point the canopy a little toward the oncoming rain rather than holding it dead upright and it does a perfectly good job. When the rain stops it folds into a manageable shape that goes in my bag. That is the compromise I want: useful shelter when I need it, not an enormous thing to haul around all day.

Chase Barry

A few people have admired it too, which is nice.

Wanted something I could use for rain as well as a bit of shade & this has worked out perfectly for that. What surprised me most was how little bother it is to carry! Doesn't feel like I'm lugging an extra thing around all day. A few people have admired it too, which is nice. For my everyday needs i couldn't ask for much more. Would I take it into really fierce winds? Probably not. I don't expect a compact umbrella to behave like some huge heavy duty contraption, and that's not what I bought it for.

Ricky Kelly

A nice change in both respects.

After having an umbrella with a fiddly manual opener, I am delighted by this button operated one. Opening it is so much simpler and I haven't had any trouble using it. I bought the cream white version with the black underneath, so mine is also easy to recognise beside all those ordinary dark umbrellas. A nice change in both respects.

Dominique Neal

I use an umbrella for shade a lot, especially on the hottest days.

I've had mine for two years now and still enjoy using it. A friend got one from me too and she's pleased with hers. I use an umbrella for shade a lot, especially on the hottest days. This one covers more of me than my smaller one. The canopy makes a good patch of shade and I like the black inside. People say nice things about the pink as well. A hat is alright, but I much prefer having something shading my shoulders as well as my face.

Renee Murillo

For the money, I'm pleased with it.

Moving to Long Island taught me how quickly a cheap little umbrella can end up in the trash on a wet, windy day. That was why I bought this one.For the money, I'm pleased with it. It looks nice, gives me plenty of coverage and has coped with the wind I've encountered. The materials do feel a little cheap, though, and I wouldn't treat it as something made for lots of rough handling. I have some doubts about how it would fare with heavy use. On the other hand, the lighter construction makes it comfortable to carry, so there is an upside.

Debbie Cameron

It's been a very dependable umbrella.

It's been a very dependable umbrella. The frame feels substantial, and it's stayed the right way round in the windy weather I've had. I use it for shade a lot here in Phoenix (plenty of opportunity for that), and being underneath it feels much nicer. Holding up better than my previous umbrellas, too.

Kenneth Owen

This one has been a very good replacement.

The two umbrellas I received at Christmas somehow ended up with other people, so I needed one of my own again. This one has been a very good replacement. The frame has some give rather than feeling brittle, and the canopy gives me good coverage without leaving me with a huge umbrella to carry around. It folds up neatly and the whole thing seems properly put together. For the price, I would certainly recommend it.

Jackie Torres

Nothing survives endless toddler testing.

My son is delighted with this umbrella and keeps asking when it will rain again. The button is easy for him to manage, although I help him pack it down afterwards. It feels fairly solid, but I'm not treating it as a toy for him to knock around with. Nothing survives endless toddler testing.

Shelly Murphy

I'd recommend it for a couple who don't mind being fairly cosy.

my girlfriend and i wanted something we could share without both getting wet (neither of us is very broad). Standing close, we fit under this with a little cover beyond our shoulders. Feels sturdy in the hand, yet folds away instead of being a long umbrella to carry. I'd recommend it for a couple who don't mind being fairly cosy.

Olivia Daugherty

Bought one for my girlfriend after choosing an umbrella for myself.

Bought one for my girlfriend after choosing an umbrella for myself. I tend to look closely at the shaft and the join at the canopy, as that's where you feel the pressure walking into wind. This one seems solid, and the ribs have some give rather than feeling brittle. I can't promise how any umbrella will handle every gust, but I feel good about this choice. She has hers and I'm still using mine.

Cody Downs

A lovely thing to give someone, I'd recommend it!

My sister-in-law was meant to have this, but I nearly kept it for myself! Such a pretty umbrella and genuinely useful too. The size seems just right. Arrived quickly and nicely packed, which was reassuring. It feels solid -- certainly doesn't give the impression of a cheap umbrella. A lovely thing to give someone, I'd recommend it!

Jackie Quinn

Cute and surprisingly sturdy (yes, a grown adult here...

Cute and surprisingly sturdy (yes, a grown adult here...more or less!)The closed loop took a little getting used to, and my thumb didn't find the button straight away [Insert me fumbling with umbrella while my hair gets wetter] A few goes and I've got the knack now. Haven't left it on the train yet either! My daughter might inherit it when she's older, if I can persuade myself to let go (possibly..)

Bill Shepherd

Even the oval handle got shown off.

I gave my friend this for his birthday and honestly, he was ridiculously excited. He's into swords and things like that, but kept playing with the opening button on this umbrella. Even the oval handle got shown off. A practical present that went down much better than I expected.

Randall Blackburn

This one seems promising.

My college umbrella used to keep both me and my books nicely sheltered. After my last umbrella turned inside out in the rain, I went looking for something that might give me that sort of cover again. This one seems promising. It's not clear like the one I had in college, but I knew that going in. Haven't had a windy rain to test it yet, so fingers crossed for the coming autumn here in Seattle.

Alexa Brandt

I fell for the look of these umbrellas and wanted one for myself.

I fell for the look of these umbrellas and wanted one for myself. The green is such a nice color, and it gives me a good amount of cover without being cumbersome when folded. It made rainy walks a lot nicer. Sadly somebody stole mine before I'd even had it a month. :( Still planning to buy another when spring comes around!

Randy Dougherty

Nice looking umbrella, with a canopy that gives good coverage.

Nice looking umbrella, with a canopy that gives good coverage. But, I wouldn't call it a tiny handbag umbrella. Even folded it needs a fair amount of room, and I notice the weight when I'm holding it up for a while. I do like it, just wish the compact description hadn't made me expect something much smaller and easier to tuck away.

Calvin Anderson

For ordinary rain it has been dependable and the button is convenient.

About six months of occasional use so far, and I'm pleased with how it's holding up. I don't expect an umbrella to survive absolutely anything, but this doesn't have that flimsy feel some do. My young kids have got hold of it a couple of times when I've left it within reach (my mistake), and it has come through that without any damage. The ribs have some give, which seems sensible rather than having everything completely rigid. I'm not about to let the kids test its limits though...I also couldn't say how it would manage really severe weather, since that isn't how I've been using it. For ordinary rain it has been dependable and the button is convenient. There are cheaper umbrellas around, but I don't feel the price was wasted here. The oval handle wouldn't have been my first choice of shape, but I could see that before ordering and it isn't a reason to take a star off.
