I had imagined it would be bigger when open, so the size was a little disappointing. That's down to me really - I should have looked at the details instead of assuming. It does seem nicely made, and the green was just the colour I wanted for a present. I'd treat this as an umbrella for one person rather than something to share. Despite my mistake over size, I'd be happy to look at this maker again.

I'd happily recommend it as a practical everyday umbrella.

Two umbrellas I was given at Christmas somehow ended up belonging to other people, so I needed a replacement. This has the things I missed about those -- a solid feel, useful coverage and a frame that doesn't feel delicate. It folds down neatly enough to carry with me instead of leaving it at home. Cost less than the umbrellas I was replacing too, which was a nice surprise. I'd happily recommend it as a practical everyday umbrella.

I had resisted for long enough.

Ordering an umbrella felt like admitting defeat after five years in Southern California. I had resisted for long enough. Still, this one is reassuringly substantial. It covers me and my bag, which was the main thing I needed. A stronger gust can make it a bit of a handful, so I'm not convinced it's the ultimate answer for windy days, but in ordinary rain it's been steady enough and I'm happy using it.

My small gripe is getting the fabric wrapped up tidily afterwards.

Replaced a cheap umbrella after it turned inside out and someone nearby found that very funny. I was less amused. Wanted something that could deal with actual rain, you know, the whole POINT! This one feels much more up to it. My small gripe is getting the fabric wrapped up tidily afterwards. not the quickest job, but a bit of rearranging and it gets there.

Wayne Roberson

less convenient for my daily bus journey.

The construction feels reassuring, and I chose the green because I wanted something other than the usual dark umbrella. It makes a useful shade when the sun is out as well as handling rain. The folded size caught me out a little, though. I read the description, so that's on me, but it takes more room in my work bag than I expected. Fine to take along to the beach; less convenient for my daily bus journey.

I wouldn't pick this one for a small child.

Looks like a well made product and came neatly packed without a long wait. Haven't had weather to test how it behaves in wind, so I can only go on first impressions, which are good. The loop handle feels quite big in my hand and there's some weight to it. I wouldn't pick this one for a small child.

What I like most is having enough cover for me and the things I'm carrying, rather than choosing which one gets wet. It opens out to a useful width without feeling awkward to hold over my head. I keep it high enough to see ahead instead of pulling it down in front of my face. The canopy has coped well with the showers and breezes I've used it in, and my shoulders have stayed dry. When I first looked at it I wasn't sure I wanted another folding umbrella, as they can seem a bit flimsy. Having used this one, I much prefer the convenience of folding it away to carrying a long umbrella around.

Tommy Morales

The finish isn't anything special, but at this price I'm content.

Wanted an umbrella to keep with me for sudden showers, but the folded size is a bit much for my bag. I'll have to hang it from the bag strap rather than squeeze it inside. The finish isn't anything special, but at this price I'm content. Better value than picking one up at a convenience shop when I'm caught out.

We will be using it again.

We carried this with us for the three day motorcycle racing event in Austin Texas, late April. We'd expected much hotter weather but it turned out suprisingly cool, with one day a little windy too. By Saturday and Sunday afternoon the sun was making itself felt and out came the umbrella, what a DIFFERENCE!!!! It felt noticeably cooler sitting under it, just getting out of that direct sunshine and heat was a relief. The people behind us did mention feeling warmth coming off the umbrella, and they also noticed the light bouncing off the top. so we were careful with where we held it in the crowd, no point making somebody else uncomfortable for our comfort. Away from other people that wouldn't be an issue, and this did the job we'd wanted, SHADE AND A BREAK FROM THE HEAT! Very glad we took it. We will be using it again.

I'm liking it so far.

I'm liking it so far. Working downtown Chicago means an umbrella gets a fair test from the wind. I've only used this a couple of times, but the cover is good and it seems strong. Once folded it lives in my backpack, so I don't have to think about whether I've brought an umbrella.

Meghan Tyler

Does what an umbrella should.

Does what an umbrella should. The oval handle is comfortable and the button makes it simple to open or shut the canopy. Fits in my golf bag with the sleeve on. Only small wish is for a more muted green, it's brighter than I normally go for, but that's hardly a problem with the umbrella itself.

Jeremy Thornton

A terrific umbrella, and it seems well up to the job.

A terrific umbrella, and it seems well up to the job. I wanted it for a trip to Asia, mainly to give me shade rather than for wet weather. The weight is the one thing I hadn't really thought through; carrying it around all day might get tiring. Still, it's a very nice umbrella and everything else suits me perfectly!

Nicole Morrison

I wouldn't expect a small child to find that part as easy.

Picked this up on offer, and the price seems to have changed again since. I've used these umbrellas quite a lot and find them good. It isn't especially light and packing it away needs a firm push, but an adult should manage easily. One button press gathers the canopy, then I compress the sliding pole myself for storage. I wouldn't expect a small child to find that part as easy. My earlier one has had more than a year's use and is still fine. This one is just a backup. I'd recommend it.

Desiree Crawford

Good amount of room under it and feels steady in a breeze.

Good amount of room under it and feels steady in a breeze. My only grumble is what I paid online (not a mistake I make often, I know). Noticed much cheaper options in the supermarket afterwards, roughly half what I spent. But price aside, I'm pleased with this umbrella and the way it handles.

Geoffrey Allen

Also happy with what I paid.

I do a lot of backpacking and wanted an umbrella that wasn't a pain to carry but still felt tough enough for regular use. This has been just right for hanging around camp or standing out in a wet field. Simple to use, keeps the rain off, doesn't feel flimsy. I'm thinking of getting another for my cousin's birthday since he's getting into the outdoors too. Nothing fancy to figure out, which suits me.Also happy with what I paid. A good buy

Priscilla Rasmussen

Much easier to carry than I thought it would be.

Much easier to carry than I thought it would be. The open canopy gives useful cover, but folded it still goes into my bag. I chose black and it looks straightforward and tidy, which suits me fine. The closing button is my favourite part. It gathers the canopy rather than pulling the whole thing into the handle, so you manually shorten the pole afterwards to pack it away. That first step is brilliant when I'm holding a child and trying to get through a doorway. I've liked using it enough to get a second one for my husband.

Alisha Hoover

It folds away neatly and the frame remains reassuringly solid.

I ordered this to replace an old umbrella and the first impression was good. The shape is smart and I appreciate having a sleeve to put it in. In the rainy, breezy weather I've used it in, it has kept me dry without any drama. I haven't tested anything particularly fierce, so four stars for now rather than pretending I know how it handles every sort of weather. The loop handle is substantial and I can reach the opening button without hunting for it. There's comfortable room for me, though two adults would need to stand close. I'm considering more of these for Christmas gifts. UPDATE: With more use I still think it was a sensible replacement. It folds away neatly and the frame remains reassuringly solid. I'm keeping my original rating until I've used it in more varied conditions.

Terrence Navarro

The quality looks good to me too...

Picked one out as a present for a coworker and he was really pleased with it. After using it a couple times he said hes thinking of getting another for his wife because hers isn't as nice. He likes how it handles a breeze and how simple the button is to use.The quality looks good to me too...would happily recommend it and I'm thinking about one for myself now :-)

Fernando Frey

The shape and overall look are what I like most about it.

The shape and overall look are what I like most about it. No proper downpour to try it in yet, although it's already been out in some gusty weather and coped fine. I wouldn't call the finish the most luxurious I've come across, so I understand some of the reservations about that. Still, it seems perfectly decent to me and with a bit of care I expect to get plenty of use from it.

Patricia Knight

She's really pleased with this one.

My wife had been saying she needed a decent umbrella, because the little folding ones we'd been using never seemed to cope with much weather (the sort you buy without thinking). She's really pleased with this one. The beige is a nice plain shade, not dull looking at all. She keeps telling me how much she likes it, so perhaps I missed a chance to make it a birthday present. Never mind! The oval loop handle is comfortable, and I like having something solid to hold rather than a tiny grip. The canopy gives her a good amount of cover without needing a huge full length umbrella. It looks smart and seems properly put together. I've now ordered one for myself too. Not the lowest priced option, but we think it's worth the extra.

Luke Conner

Feels sturdy, gives useful shade and shelters me from rain... I used to leave umbrellas behind on the train or bus all the time... now I clip the loop handle onto my suitcase handle and it's right there with my things, much harder for me to walk off without it.

Kaitlyn Valencia

The fabric and overall finish look good to me.

I gave two of these at Christmas, one to my daughter and one to my daughter-in-law, who both use them for work. Each has mentioned how straightforward they are to operate, and the handle design has drawn some nice comments. The fabric and overall finish look good to me. I would recommend them as a practical gift with a slightly different look. They've only been using them for about three months, of course, so long-term wear is still something we'll have to see.

Justin Gamble

Gusts that made me tighten my grip haven't upset the canopy.

Having an umbrella turn inside out halfway down the street is miserable, especially when you're already getting soaked. I was hoping to avoid that with this one and so far it has done very well. Gusts that made me tighten my grip haven't upset the canopy. Don't want to make a grand claim about it, but I feel much less anxious carrying this when rain and wind arrive together.

Diane Kelley

The material has a different feel to my previous umbrellas, so I'm interested to see it in a proper shower. The push button action is convenient, which should make getting on the bus easier without a lot of fuss. There are lots of ribs supporting the canopy too, and that makes it seem sturdier than I expected.

Shawna Fitzgerald

Really pleased with them!

I'd been wanting a compact umbrella for some time and the reviews persuaded me to give these a go. Ordered two in pink, one for myself and the other for a co-worker. Really pleased with them! There is more room under them than I thought and they feel sturdy. A bit of dust on unpacking, but a quick wipe sorted that and they look lovely now. Would def recommend these!

Carla Castaneda

Very pretty to look at.

Very pretty to look at. I ordered this for my boyfriend's mother, and the beige is a nice soft shade. Against the black underneath it looks quite smart, not too fussy. She hasn't had it out in the rain yet, so I can't say much about that side of things. My only hesitation is that it is a little more substantial folded than I expected for a compact umbrella. Not huge, just something to consider if you carry a very small bag. The button opening seems convenient, although you do still have to press the telescoping stem down yourself after closing the canopy. I would want her to try that at home first rather than figure it out in a shower. Still, a lovely looking umbrella and it seems nicely put together.

Krista Sherman

Love having an umbrella I can actually manage on my walk to work!

Love having an umbrella I can actually manage on my walk to work! My old big one was a handful whenever rain came with a gust. This one feels solid without being awkward to carry, and I've found it easier to hold steady. Keeps the rain off me and opens quickly when I need it. A good change.

Sue Wolfe

For an umbrella that folds down, the coverage is surprisingly decent.

For an umbrella that folds down, the coverage is surprisingly decent. The sides come down enough to be useful when rain blows sideways, and it doesn't feel like I'm swapping all my shelter for a smaller package. My larger umbrella stays at home; this one lives in the car for those sudden Houston showers! The fabric feels substantial and the frame has a reassuring feel. A little more money than I'd normally want to spend on a spare, which is my only hesitation. Still, I'd rather keep using something that feels well put together than keep buying flimsy umbrellas!

Tabitha Bush

It looks great and feels solid in use.

Only had it a week, but the weekend rain gave me a good excuse to try it properly. It looks great and feels solid in use. Folded, it takes up more space than I had imagined, although that's becoming less of a bother. What impressed me was walking across the parking lot when the wind picked up. Someone ahead of me had their umbrella flip over and ended up throwing it away. Mine kept its shape and I made it across dry. That's the part that matters to me, rather than whether it squeezes into the smallest bag.

Lydia Proctor

looking forward to using it and happy with the price!

Waited a while for it and i still haven't had a chance to use it in rain, but it feels well made! the sleeve is handy for storing it rather than having an umbrella loose among everything else in my bag. i’ll still dry it before putting it away, as wet umbrellas have been a nuisance before! looking forward to using it and happy with the price!

Joan Stephenson

Now for some rain so I can try it properly!

This umbrella look quite substantial and nicely put together, although it hasn't had a proper outing yet (still waiting for rain!). It takes up more space and weighs more than the little one I've been carrying. That doesn't put me off, I would rather have something that feels solid. If you don't need the tiniest folding umbrella, this seems a good choice. From looking it over I feel I've picked something much better. Now for some rain so I can try it properly!

This has become my baseball game umbrella.

This has become my baseball game umbrella. Sitting in the sun watching my son is much nicer with a bit of shade over me. I notice the difference straight away. It feels sturdy without being huge, which matters when other people are sitting nearby. My younger son can tuck in next to me and share some of the shade too. I don't have to spread out a giant umbrella just to be comfortable. A few people have asked about it at the games. Very useful for those sunny afternoons.

Victor Chung

Very nice.

Arrived promptly and was packed nicely and the umbrella looked just as it should. A useful size and feels well put together. Very nice. I would recommend it if you want a folding umbrella for a child to use with some help. Note: the button does open it quite quickly.

Regina Chan

It looks handsome and seems nicely constructed.

Very pleased to receive such a smart looking umbrella, with shade being the reason I was looking for one in the first place. It looks handsome and seems nicely constructed. It will get plenty of use here in the strong Australian sun. I'll happily tell anyone who asks where I found it. Thank you.

Alejandro Stanton

The sleeve is handy as well.

Used it on several wet days now and the frame feels well supported, even when there's a breeze. The sleeve is handy as well. Only thing to be aware of is closing: the button folds the canopy, then pushing the pole down takes some effort. Still a very good umbrella.

Luke Barker

Wanted that same handy feel again and this one has it!

I had a little compact umbrella for about 20 years and it was always the one I went back to. Wanted that same handy feel again and this one has it! The rain rolls off well, and I can draw the canopy in with the button before getting into the car. Still have to push the shaft back by hand, but that's easy enough. It feels nicely made and I'm already reaching for it instead of the others. So glad I gave it a try!!

Mckenzie Potts

The loop handle sits comfortably in my hand.

These have become my favourite umbrellas. Substantial without being awkward, and the flexible frame has done well on breezy walks. The loop handle sits comfortably in my hand. A quick press gets it open, and the canopy draws in again just as easily. Folded, it goes in my little backpack or my messenger bag. I like keeping a few around because I'm forever leaving one somewhere, and I don't want to be caught without a spare.

Meredith Mccullough

I was dry, and the dress was still looking good at the end!

It's pink....opens to a decent size....yes, an umbrella!!! Had a wedding coming up and the forecast looked awful...ordered two days before....it turned up on the wedding day....then down came the rain....what else can I add....I was dry, and the dress was still looking good at the end!

Angel Escobar

Very pleased with this, very pleased indeed!

Impressive! The finish on this umbrella is really pleasing. The fabric has a substantial feel without seeming stiff, and the stitching is tidy all round. Looking underneath, the many flexible ribs give it a much more reassuring appearance than the flimsy umbrellas I've had before. The button action is quick, both putting it up and drawing the canopy back in. You do still press the telescoping part down yourself afterwards, which is simple enough. The really clever detail for me is the closed oval handle with its carabiner gate. I can clip it to a backpack or bag rather than have one hand occupied carrying a folded umbrella...such a useful little idea. It feels comfortable to hold as well. I'm seriously considering buying another couple. Very pleased with this, very pleased indeed! Happy to recommend it.

I got my husband one last year, and we liked it enough that I ordered another for me!!Opening and closing the canopy is easy, the handle is comfortable in your hand, and it seems well put together for what it costs! It's light and compact enough that we both keep ours in our bags every day--nice to have it there just in case.I would still love a patterned option rather than the plain gray I have...

Olivia Briggs

Worth having one!

I've lived in Texas all my life, so heat isn't new to me. But some days are ridiculous.Really ridiculous. I wanted shade so I could still enjoy being outside, and this umbrella makes it much more comfortable without the sun beating on my head. It lives in the car now and comes out even on the less fierce days. Feels well made and doesn't weigh me down. Worth having one!

Brent Raymond

Excellent umbrella.

Excellent umbrella. A good spread overhead, feels sturdy, and still folds down to something I can carry around. On wet nights out I put my belt through the closed oval handle before fastening it, so it hangs under my coat. Handy and not very noticeable. My first was left in a cab, the second went to somebody else, and now I'm on my third. Rainy days aren't going away, after all. The best bit for me is closing it. Press the button and the canopy draws in straight away; you still press the telescoping stem down by hand to get it ready again. Once that's done, it's ready for the next shower. Having the handle as a loop means I don't have to keep hold of it the whole time when it's on my belt. Very practical.

Joseph Adkins

Definitely recommend.

We gave our 4-year-old this for her birthday and she was so excited! It feels very well made--there was a lot of opening and closing in the first couple of days and it still looks new. I help her push it back together after closing, but she loves making it pop open. Plenty of cover for her, and it's nice to see her enjoying it so much. Definitely recommend.

Shelby Benitez

Proper cover without hauling a long umbrella about --- SO handy!

If I can avoid leaving it somewhere, this is the one I'll keep using. Great for walking around the city, including the busy streets, and folds down when you're indoors. My cream white one has friends and coworkers asking where to get theirs! Proper cover without hauling a long umbrella about --- SO handy!

Martha Rasmussen

I like how this umbrella sits in the hand.

I like how this umbrella sits in the hand. The oval handle gives me a secure hold without having to grip it very tightly. It has enough weight to feel substantial, although I would not call it the lightest choice for carrying around all day. The frame looks neatly assembled, and nothing feels loose when I open it. The opening action is brisk and the canopy collapses cleanly at the next press. You do have to shorten the telescoping shaft manually afterward, which took a little getting used to, but that is simply part of putting it away. I prefer knowing how it works to expecting the button to do the whole job. Out in the rain it has given me good coverage, which is really the point. My reservation so far is the weight rather than anything about its operation. All told, I'm satisfied. Winter use will be a better test, and I'll add to this if I learn more about how well it lasts.

Katherine Nielsen

That's a pretty good replacement in my book.

When I left my pink umbrella at the Barcelona airport I wondered if I'd find one I liked as much.--Button opening--Canopy closes with the button too--A frame that doesn't feel flimsy--An oval carabiner handle for clipping to a bag, so it needn't occupy a hand all day.--And the price was close to what I remembered paying before. That's a pretty good replacement in my book.

I was so happy I kissed him right there.

A rainy, windy visit to an art gallery turned into a much nicer memory than I expected. My old umbrella wasn't much help and I was cold and miserable.I went into the ladies room to warm my hands under the dryer, and when I came back my boyfriend was waiting with a beige umbrella for me. I was so happy I kissed him right there. It wasn't some grand occasion, but that little rescue made it my favourite umbrella. People have said lovely things about it, and I caught myself actually wanting rain so I could take it out! It feels sturdy and there was enough cover for us to huddle together when we needed to. Then he managed to lose it, and we looked everywhere with no luck. I was so disappointed, mostly because of the memory attached to it. Rather than trying to retrace the whole gallery visit, I've ordered another one. It won't be that exact gift, but I'm so looking forward to carrying it again!

Leon Howell

My niece thinks it's wonderful!

There are worse things to have waved near your face than a cute umbrella, apparently. My niece thinks it's wonderful! Can't say whether she's tried it in actual rain yet, but she's been twirling about with it like it's part of a performance. Very sweet to watch : )

Monique Burch

I then press the telescoping stem down to pack it away.

A few less enthusiastic reviews made me hesitate before spending this much. After actually using the umbrella, though, I think it was a good purchase. It is manageable to carry and fits in my larger purse, but opens wide enough to give me proper coverage on my own. The button responds quickly, both opening it and bringing the canopy together. I then press the telescoping stem down to pack it away. What I particularly appreciate is that the fabric rolls up without a wrestling match and the sleeve goes on quite easily. I haven't used it in seriously windy conditions, and wouldn't expect a compact umbrella to be indestructible anyway. My old umbrella gave me several years of use before it was time to replace it, so that is really what I am hoping for here. So far, the everyday rain protection and the ease of putting it away have made the extra cost worthwhile.

Gabriella Decker

The design is simple but still cute.

At this price I wasn't expecting a whole lot, especially after reading unhappy reviews of some much more expensive umbrellas. I got these for my girls, ages 5 and 7, to go in their Easter baskets. They absolutely LOVE having their own umbrellas, and I have to say they're nicer than I expected! They've been through two downpours already and have somehow become regular guests at the girls' tea parties too. The design is simple but still cute. Both girls can use the button, though I help with pushing the pole together afterwards because that's harder for little hands. That is really my only reservation. The sleeves are useful for putting them away after they've dried, instead of having everything spread all over the place. I'm sure you could spend more and get something fancier, but these have been good value for us. I'd be happy to get another when my son is old enough to want his own :)
