Good coverage and a sturdy feel.

Good coverage and a sturdy feel. also useful when I want a bit of shade, so it isn't only coming out in rain. one thing to watch is how quickly it springs open, give yourself space before pressing that button if people are nearby. packing it away takes more effort than opening it. the canopy collapses with the button but shortening the shaft is manual and needs a fairly firm push. i find it easier with the handle braced against something solid. not a deal breaker, just something to know. otherwise I'm pleased with it.

An easy recommendation from me.

1) The gray was my main worry because pictures can make a shade look completely different. Mine looks JUST like the picture. (yay!).2) Closing it hasn't been the wrestling match I was expecting from some comments. The button shuts the canopy, then I compress the pole by hand. A quick tidy of the folds and it goes into the sleeve without much argument. No special talent needed.3) Two outings so far and everything is fine. It also spent two days rattling about in my enormous tote with all the other stuff I apparently need to carry. Still fine. I wouldn't treat it like a magic shield (fantasy readers will understand), but for an umbrella it seems perfectly capable. If you need it packed away in half a second, maybe just slow down??4) I'm glad I tried it. Nice colour, works as it should, and didn't cost a fortune. An easy recommendation from me.

Ordered eight for high school graduation gifts.

Ordered eight for high school graduation gifts. They're a useful size for campus walks in the rain, and reasonably priced when you have several graduates to buy for. I get quite a few graduation party invitations, so a practical present at this price is welcome. Nicely packaged and satisfied with the umbrellas.

Solid feeling, easy enough to take along, and it has kept me dry.

Solid feeling, easy enough to take along, and it has kept me dry. I like it overall. The open canopy is a decent size for something that folds, but I had pictured it being a little bigger from the description. For just me it's fine, with a reasonable margin around my shoulders. Trying to get two people under it at a bus stop would be rather optimistic-- someone's shoulder is going to get wet. So it suits my own journeys well, but I'd want a larger umbrella if sharing was the main reason for buying.

Christie Yoder

It seems solid enough for normal use.

Yes, I know about opening umbrellas indoors. My three year old still spent most of last evening playing under this one. Two hours of entertainment and it remains in one piece. I do the button pressing, since the opening is automatic, and he just enjoys having a roof over him. It seems solid enough for normal use. Educational value? Not much to say there, unless learning about rain counts. The simple canopy isn't a cartoon character, but he doesn't seem bothered. We haven't actually taken it out in wet weather yet, so that will be the next test.

Brendan Glenn

Easy to take along because it doesn't take up much room.

Easy to take along because it doesn't take up much room. It was useful on my trip abroad. Sharing between two is a squeeze though, it is more for one person. I put my backpack in front so less of it gets soaked, not completely dry but much better than no umbrella haha.

Early days, but my first impression is a very good one.

Walking around New York with an umbrella can be a bit of a balancing act. You are watching the rain, the people coming towards you & where the edges of everyone else's umbrellas are.I received this for Christmas and finally had a wet day to try it. It was a pleasure to use. The canopy gave me good cover without feeling like I was carrying a huge roof through the crowd. I still had to be considerate, obviously, but it felt quite manageable & I wasn't constantly lifting it over my head. It looks smart too and opening it with a button is convenient. It felt reassuringly solid when the breeze picked up, though I wouldn't pretend one outing tells me everything. For someone who walks around the city a lot, I think it makes a useful gift. Early days, but my first impression is a very good one.

Curtis Rhodes

Good value overall.

Good value overall. I expected a bit more room, but it suits one person nicely. Worth thinking about how much coverage you need before choosing. The button operation is convenient and the frame feels reasonably solid. I haven't taken it out in wet or windy weather yet, so long term durability is still an open question.

Trevor Harvey

I'm sold on this umbrella.

I'm sold on this umbrella. I don't bother with the really cheap ones, so I spent a bit more this time. Folded up it's quite manageable, opened out there's room for me and someone willing to stand close. You might not want to spend this much on an umbrella, but take the word of a complete stranger... I reckon you'll like it. Don't hold me to it!

Javier Tucker

Lovely shade!

Lovely shade! Sitting under this umbrella is much nicer than being out in the blazing sun. Like finding a little spot beneath a tree without having to go looking for one. It's handled the breezes I've used it in too. I want this nearby all the time now--not only when rain is forecast!

First impression is that it feels quite strong.

First impression is that it feels quite strong. The button opens it easily and draws the canopy in again. We haven't had proper wet weather to give it much of an outing yet.It has more weight than I expected and I don't think it would slip into my briefcase without some rearranging. For now am pleased with it, though it may end up being my husband's umbrella more than mine simply because it suits him better.

I hadn't bought a really nice umbrella before this.

I hadn't bought a really nice umbrella before this. It was a Christmas present for my wife and she loves hers. Easy to keep in her purse or the car. The button opening and canopy closing are pretty impressive, and the beige has a classy look. I would definily recommend it, and I'm thinking of getting another one for myself.

Peter Strickland

This one has made a good start.

Only a month of use so far, although Boston has supplied enough wet weather to make it feel like a longer test. I was looking for a change after being disappointed with the umbrellas I had been buying for years. This one has made a good start. The frame still feels firm, the canopy looks tidy, and the opening button has been easy to use when the rain catches me outside. I like that it gives me proper coverage without needing to carry a full length umbrella around all day. Nothing about it looks worn after the weather we've had, which is encouraging. I'm hopeful it will remain dependable, but a month isn't the same as a year of use.If I had that longer experience behind me I'd be more comfortable giving five stars.

Mom asked for a folding umbrella at Christmas.

Mom asked for a folding umbrella at Christmas. She's SUPER stylish & choosy about what she carries, so I couldn't just grab anything. I picked gray & thought well, I can use it if she says no. Much nicer looking in person & she was DELIGHTED! Said it was her favourite gift, then had to show it off to everyone who visited that evening.

Where I live the rain doesn't always fall straight down, so a decent umbrella is worth having. This one has given me good cover on wet, breezy walks and feels more substantial than the flimsy folding ones I used before. It's not the tiniest thing folded, but knowing rain is likely, I'm quite content to make room for it in my bag.

Jeffrey Davenport

Bought this for my son's school days and so far it's very good.

Bought this for my son's school days and so far it's very good. We get plenty of rain here, often with wind, so I hope it continues to cope. It springs open quite briskly with the button, and the canopy comes down properly too. The shaft has to be pressed down manually afterward, with a little effort. It came nicely packed and everything looked in good order.

Charles Lopez

Still it feels strong and the way it's made seems very good.

Nice umbrella however i do wish the canopy gave just a little more room around the edges, when it's coming down at an angle i find myself pulling it closer then i want to, a little wider and it would be PERFECT!. Still it feels strong and the way it's made seems very good.

Alfred Crane

This one has been a much better experience.

I've lost count of the times I've used a little umbrella and still arrived with wet shoulders, or spent the walk trying to stop it folding backwards. This one has been a much better experience. There is enough canopy over me to make a real difference, without needing a golf umbrella that never folds small. I've had it out in rain with some gusts and haven't had it turn inside out. It feels substantial in the hand, which I appreciate, although I do notice the weight if I'm holding it up for a long walk. For me that is a fair trade for actually staying dry instead of just keeping the top of my head dry.

Leah Terry

For what I paid, this has been a great little umbrella!

For what I paid, this has been a great little umbrella! It gets used for dog walks about five times a day, usually fifteen minutes each, so it hasn't just sat in the cupboard. We've had plenty of wet, blustery days through spring and into summer and it has kept doing its job. Feels MUCH stronger than I expected for something that folds up. The ribs have a bit of give and everything still looks good after all that use. Would absolutely buy it again!!!

Kellie Singh

Its nice quality and feels sturdy when its up.

Ordered kinda late so I was happy when it turned up sooner than I thought. Its nice quality and feels sturdy when its up. Not the tiniest folded umbrella but not to much trouble to take along..I been using it for shade when its real hot outside and it does a good job..People have said how nice it looks too. I definately would recommend it! Im tempted to get another in black.

William Shea

Very good umbrella.

Very good umbrella. Packs down small but gives plenty of coverage opened, and has kept me dry. It feels sturdy and hasn't flipped over in light breezes. The button is straightforward for opening and closing the canopy. This a good choice for men who prefer a plain design and dependable operation. Mine turned up ahead of schedule despite the Christmas rush, and was what I expected. I'd be happy to get another from the same seller.

Richard Landry

Good umbrella for painting outdoors.

Good umbrella for painting outdoors. I still need to sort out holding it beside my chair or tripod, and my husband says he'll have a think. The gray outside is unobtrusive, and the black underneath means I'm not staring up at a bright colour while judging my paints (that's the hope, anyway.) Feels well made and didn't cost more than I wanted to spend.

Maureen Fuentes

I'm happy with it and don't miss lugging the old one about!

i've always liked big golf umbrellas, and this replaced one i'd used for about ten years. it's been a good replacement- smaller to carry around, though i do need a moment to tuck it back into the sleeve. The canopy fabric feels substantial and hasn't shown any wear so far. I'm happy with it and don't miss lugging the old one about!

Stacie Leblanc

I'm ridiculously happy with this umbrella!

I'm ridiculously happy with this umbrella! Such good value. Looking at it folded, I didn't expect nearly so much cover once it was up. It still packs away neatly without taking over my bag. The button is brilliant when I'm getting into the car in a hurry, one press gathers the canopy and I can get inside before pushing the stem down by hand. It's nicely put together too.

Isaiah Bennett

I have this folding one as well as a long umbrella.

I have this folding one as well as a long umbrella. Both get used and I have been happy with them.***update:Still have this one, just haven't needed it as often since the move from Germany to the states. In Florida now and it mostly stays in the car. Has lasted well although to be fair it hasn't been out in the rain all that much these last few years

Melanie Vega

A very good bit of design!

Walking through New York in the rain, i passed several people wrestling with umbrellas that had turned the wrong way. Mine stayed in shape through the gusts on that walk, which was a relief. It feels light enough to hold for a while without that flimsy feeling. The handle looks a little different to what I usually carry and has drawn a couple of questions. Nothing I mind! For an umbrella that folds away, the coverage and solid feel have impressed me. A very good bit of design!

Mckenzie Baird

It's solid rather than a featherweight.

Heavier than any folding umbrella I've owned, although the sturdy frame makes that understandable. There's a button for opening and for shutting the canopy. (The closing part is new to me - quite clever!) You still press the shaft down yourself afterwards. Opened up, there's proper room underneath, not that cramped feeling some folding ones have.I'm delighted with it, but for someone carrying everything in a work bag all day I would suggest checking the weight first. It's solid rather than a featherweight.

Donald Madden

A star lost on theatrical grounds.

An excellent umbrella for rainy, blustery days on campus, and the button makes opening it wonderfully convenient. I may have enjoyed demonstrating it to people struggling with their manual ones a little too much. PROS: button operation, reassuring feel, gray. CONS: My very serious objection is that it makes a poor pretend sword. The shaft comes up with the canopy, so a dramatic extension also leaves you standing underneath an open umbrella. Not quite the heroic entrance I had planned. A star lost on theatrical grounds. Overall, a practical thing to own when the weather forecast is no help at all.

Jared Patel

This does, and it stays in my bag ready to go.

Florida summer means rain can turn up several times in a day, so I want an umbrella that gets open fast. This does, and it stays in my bag ready to go.I wouldn't mind a little extra width, but then it wouldn't be quite so handy to carry. For a compact it's doing what I need it to do.

Kimberly Meyer

It is roomy once open and I find the loop handle comfortable.

I did some looking around before buying as I didn't want to spend too much on an umbrella. I have to say this one is really nicely made! It is roomy once open and I find the loop handle comfortable. What I especially enjoy is the pink outside and the black on the inside . That contrast makes it a little more interesting to me. The automatic opening is useful too. More than anything I wanted a decent umbrella, and this seems like a good choice.

Keith Jacobs

Would certainly recommend it.

Elegant without being flashy, which is what I wanted. The canopy pops open crisply and gathers in again at a press. I spent ages looking through umbrellas, not entirely trusting a folding one when the wind picks up. It feels strong rather than flimsy when you're holding it. If the weather gets too unpleasant I can nip indoors and collapse the canopy quickly instead of wrestling with it outside. Would certainly recommend it.

My six year old loves taking this umbrella to school!

My six year old loves taking this umbrella to school! It's stayed in good shape with regular use. He manages the opening button himself and likes holding the oval handle. The beige colour is a hit with him too. It's nice having something he actually wants to take along when the weather turns wet!

Parker Nichols

The automatic opening is handy.

Good coverage -- enough for two standing close, yet it packs down to a manageable size. The automatic opening is handy. My only niggle is the firm push needed to reset the shaft after the canopy closes -- perfectly normal, just a little awkward when I'm trying to put it away in the rain.

Tracy Duarte

People always seem to edge closer when the rain starts, funny that.

I wanted a good spread of cover without lugging something enormous, and this surprised me [pause].It opens wider than the folded size makes you think. People always seem to edge closer when the rain starts, funny that. It's not a featherweight umbrella, though, so I'd suggest it for somebody who doesn't mind carrying something a little more substantial.

A welcome addition to the umbrellas we keep at home.

A welcome addition to the umbrellas we keep at home. I usually hang on to a good umbrella for years, so I care more about how it is put together than saving a little at the start. This one gives me a good impression, with a substantial frame and an easy opening action. My wife tends to be hard on inexpensive umbrellas, and this one is for her. I expect it will stand up to her everyday use nicely.

Monique Colon

It has been very good during the rainy season so far.

Rain isn't an everyday thing where I live, but it rarely turns up without some wind along with it. After spending last year's wet season fussing with the cheap umbrellas I had, I wanted something more dependable instead of just grabbing another from a convenience shop. I read a lot of reviews before settling on this one.It has been very good during the rainy season so far. There is enough cover for my walks around campus, and most of my backpack stays underneath too, which matters when I'm carrying books and notebooks. The handle feels secure and it has coped with the gusts I've encountered without needing constant adjustment. I still pay attention to the way I hold it, but it isn't the battle I was used to with smaller umbrellas. It also fits in my bag when folded, so I'm not stuck carrying it all day after the rain stops. This cost more than a basic convenience store umbrella, but for the confidence it gives me on those wet walks the extra seems well spent.

Duane Grant

Just don't expect the coverage of a much bigger one.

A sensible compact umbrella, with ribs that have handled a bit of wind without fuss. Just don't expect the coverage of a much bigger one. I'm not particularly large, but rain at an angle still reaches me around the edges. I've left it in the car as my spare rather than using it for every workday. Useful in that role, though quite expensive for something I only use occasionally.

Michele Faulkner

Keeps you nice and dry in rain and gives some welcome shade too.

Keeps you nice and dry in rain and gives some welcome shade too.I expected a fairly ordinary umbrella, but there are useful details built into this one. The button makes opening very easy and another press closes the canopy. The shaft doesn't shorten automatically; you press that back down by hand to reset it. It folds to a manageable size for carrying in a bag, rather than taking up the backseat like a long umbrella. The frame has 30 flexible ribs and feels substantial when opened. The fabric sits neatly over it, with a black underside contrasting against the cream white outside. A sleeve is included to keep the umbrella covered for storage once it is dry. The handle has a closed oval carabiner loop shape. That is a little different from a traditional umbrella grip, but it doesn't get in the way of using it and I find it comfortable. Some people may prefer something more conventional. CONTENTS: Compact umbrella Carry sleeve FEATURES: Automatic opening and canopy closing Hand reset for the shaft I received a sample for review.

These umbrella's feel SOLID without weighing me down.

These umbrella's feel SOLID without weighing me down. They've been fine through the wet and blustery days I've taken them out in. Coverage is really for one person though, don't expect a family shelter. I got two rather than looking for a bigger one to share :-)

Maxwell Stark

No problems with the quality so far.

Some of the reviews had me hesitating, but we needed an umbrella for our daughter after all the heavy rain around here. I'm glad I went ahead. She's three and is very happy to have her own, although this is one we help her with rather than a little toy umbrella. It keeps her dry and feels well made. No problems with the quality so far. We hold it high enough that she can still look ahead, which matters when she's walking along with us.

Allison West

It feels well put together and has been good in the wind.

Until this one I'd somehow never actually paid for an umbrella. Borrowed ones, free event giveaways, or avoiding going out in the rain had done the job. This has made me wonder why I waited. If it goes missing I'll get the same again. There's also a free golf umbrella at home, and when that wears out this is what I'd replace it with. I can hang this from the loop handle rather than balancing it against a wall. The canopy pops open firmly, folds with the button, and stays tucked away once I've pushed the shaft down. I like having the cover too.It feels well put together and has been good in the wind. Definitely one I'd recommend!

Troy Kerr

Nothing complicated, just a good useful umbrella.

I don't understand the negative comments. I've found these well put together, easy to use and fairly priced. I have my own and have also given several as gifts, which I wouldn't do if I didn't think they were good. There are plenty of umbrellas to choose from, but I haven't found one I'd rather have for similar money. Nothing complicated, just a good useful umbrella.

Kari Franklin

She is delighted with this.

My wife kept saying she wanted a decent umbrella, after years of using the cheap folding sort that never felt much good in a breeze. She is delighted with this. I picked gray and it's a nice gray, not a dull looking thing at all. She talks about it enough that I probably could have put it aside for her birthday. Too late now!The closed loop handle is a nice touch, easy to hold onto, and the whole thing feels much more substantial than what we had. The button is convenient when there's rain coming down and you're trying to get covered quickly. It has a tidy appearance without being fussy. I've now ordered one for myself too. Not the least expensive umbrella I've bought, but this feels like money sensibly spent.

Stacie Williamson

Mine aired out in a couple of days.

An excellent umbrella, though I agree about the strong smell when first unpacked it is quite noticeable. Mine aired out in a couple of days. Really like the way it is made. For something that folds away this neatly, the coverage is generous and the whole thing feels worth buying.

Wendy Leon

Seeing my new umbrella arrive was a good site.

Seeing my new umbrella arrive was a good site. Quite a spread when opened. I play golf and have already had it out in soaking rain, kept me dry the whole time. Held up nicely, too. For someone who plays even when the weather isn't cooperating this is a good umbrella tohave along. Feels solid without all the weight I thought it would have. Thanks for this one. There will be more wet rounds for it to get through.

Priscilla Harrington

Cheers,A golfer with dry shoulders.

Hello folks, mine just turned up and I am Pretty happy with it.First look at it folded and I wondered how much shelter that could possibly give.Opened it and the answer was quite a lot! Not a giant golf umbrella, but a useful size without all that length to lug around. This is for my weekend rounds, when the rain has me sitting in the cart hoping it'll stop. Much rather have this to hand than keep getting soaked. The sleeve gives it a neat place in my golf bag too!!Wasn't expecting much at this price honestly, but it feels properly made and the opening button works nicely. VERY HAPPY!Thought I'd pass that on from another golfer who'd rather stay dry. Cheers,A golfer with dry shoulders.

Todd Carpenter

Overall it's been handy to have along.

I wanted an umbrella for sunny walks with my newborn here in Arizona. Finding something useful that also looked pretty mattered to me, and I've liked using this one. It makes a pleasant patch of shade, though you do have to hold it at the right angle. The compact size is easy to carry but limits how much shade there is. I take care opening and packing it away. Overall it's been handy to have along.

Jack Benitez

Sent one as a gift & she is thrilled with it.

Sent one as a gift & she is thrilled with it. She said, "I've wanted an umbrella like this for ages & now I finally have one!" Having one myself, I knew she'd appreciate how little space it takes when folded & how nice it looks open. Handy to bring when rain seems likely, but mine also comes out for shade in the bleachers during sports. It's so convenient having one thing along for either kind of weather. A useful gift with a little style to it!

Jorge Lynn

Would recommend.

Got this for my 11 year old son for his walk back from school. Here in Florida we get plenty of rain and gusts, and it's been doing well. The button opening makes life easier for him. A little bulkier folded than I expected, but a useful size overhead and feels well made. Would recommend.

Maureen Padilla

Collapsing the canopy with the button is easy...

Feels well constructed and the black one has been dependable. I ordered one for myself after getting one for my grown daughter, who wanted it for walks in wet weather. Collapsing the canopy with the button is easy...Pushing the shaft all the way back in does take a firm press. That's the part you do by hand. The sleeve is useful for putting it away, and the loop handle gives me something secure to hold. It's coped with breezy walks. Overall I'm glad I bought it.
