Nearly ideal for me.

Nearly ideal for me. Compact, presentable, and the button opens it AND folds the canopy away; you push the shaft down by hand afterwards. It has handled normal rain well, although I wouldn't choose it for a really nasty storm. Still, I'd happily buy another. It's portable and plain enough that I'll actually take it along, rather than leave it behind because it looks too fussy... which matters more than I'd admit.

I love taking this umbrella to work.

I love taking this umbrella to work. I'm downtown in Los Angeles and it doesn't rain that often, but when it does I'm glad it's in my bag. The cream white is really pretty and I've had people comment on it. I can carry it through the busy sidewalks without feeling like I'm wrestling some huge umbrella. I've had two now, the first one got lost so I bought it again. That probably says how much I like it. Definitely one I wanted back in my bag!!

A solid umbrella and straightforward to use out on the golf course.

A solid umbrella and straightforward to use out on the golf course. I carry it for shade while walking rather than leaving myself in the sun. The ribs have a bit of give in a breeze. My last umbrella snapped at the shaft, so this one feels a reassuring replacement.

So far it has done what I hoped.

So far it has done what I hoped. Opens out bigger than its folded size made me expect, but it still looks like a normal umbrella rather than something enormous. My husband has been using it on his way to work and has stayed nicely covered. We haven't had any severe weather to put it through, so I can't say anything about that, but for everyday rain it feels reassuringly solid.

compact & easy enough to bring along.

compact & easy enough to bring along. gives me shade when I don't feel like wearing a hat. not the tiniest/lightest umbrella once it's in your bag though, so I notice it if I'm carrying lots already. still reach for it regularly & the handle is comfortable. would buy another, I just tend to be fussy about having something between me and the sun.

Robin Dalton

I would prefer that to be a bit less fiddly.

I looked through the different color options before settling on gray, which seemed the most sensible buy for me. It feels properly made and I think a little care will help it last well. I like the flexible ribs and the sleeve for storing it, and the oval loop is a convenient handle for carrying or hanging the umbrella when it isn't needed. It's a different arrangement from a hooked handle but works well for me. My only small gripe is getting all the folds lying neatly enough before slipping the sleeve over it; I would prefer that to be a bit less fiddly. This one stays in the car and takes up very little room in the back of my hatch.

Debbie Vang

The handle was another reason for choosing it.

I went for green because a little colour is welcome when the weather is miserable and everything in the car park seems grey. I also prefer something noticeable when walking past cars in the rain, rather than blending into the background. Once I had it open, the fabric felt substantial and the ribs looked neatly fitted. It gives a decent amount of cover without feeling like an enormous umbrella. The opening button has been straightforward to use, with no fiddling about to get it ready. It was more than I would normally spend on a basic umbrella, so I did give that some thought before buying. There is always the temptation to pick up the cheapest one available (especially for something that spends a fair amount of time sitting unused at work), but I am happy with what I received. Hopefully it will stay in regular use for a long time! The handle was another reason for choosing it. I wanted something with a proper loop rather than just a small straight grip. This one is a closed oval, useful for keeping hold of while managing shopping, and for hanging in my cubicle after it has dried. The green looks good in person too, which isn't always easy to judge from a picture. Between the appearance and how it feels to use, I would happily recommend this style to someone looking for a compact umbrella!

This black one looks so SMART, especially with that oval handle.

Down here in Louisiana an umbrella is something you ought to have handy, since a shower can turn up with no warning. Somehow I was always the person without a decent one. The cheap little ones either gave up or disappeared after somebody borrowed them. I'd mentioned to my mother that I wanted one that felt nice and didn't look like the usual striped umbrella. Then my birthday came and she remembered! This black one looks so SMART, especially with that oval handle. Not fussy, just really nicely put together. I had completely forgotten that conversation, so opening it was a lovely surprise. I haven't given it a proper rainy outing yet, but the frame feels promising and the button works smoothly. The forecast for the weekend is wet... normally that wouldn't make me happy, but now I have something I actually want to take out. And this one is staying with ME. Nobody gets to borrow it!

It's a small point, but worth knowing before buying.

Only had this for a short time, so these are first impressions, but I like it so far. The automatic opening is very straightforward: press once and the umbrella extends and opens. What caught me out was the closing part. Another press brings the canopy down, but the shaft stays extended until you push it back by hand. That's the normal reset for the next opening, not something wrong with it; I'd just expected the button to do that last bit as well. It's a small point, but worth knowing before buying. Looking underneath, the fabric is fastened to the ribs in quite a conventional way, with ties and little rounded ends, rather than anything especially different. I also noticed that when it's folded and wrapped, the ribs don't all sit at equal distances around the shaft. A few gather closer together. That arrangement has sometimes led to bent arms on inexpensive umbrellas I've had before, so I'm interested to see how this one holds up. Nothing has bent here, and I'll add to this if there is a reason to change my view of the construction. Finally there's the sleeve. With neither a zip nor a stretchy opening, it is quite a close fit when putting the umbrella away. A zip would make that job easier, I think. These are mostly small reservations, though. In terms of actually using the umbrella, I haven't run into a problem yet.

What a lovely Christmas present this turned out to be.

What a lovely Christmas present this turned out to be.My Grand-daughter is ten and had never had an umbrella of her own. She was so happy with it, one of her favourites from the day. The blue is bright and cheerful without needing anything fancy, and the umbrella feels well made. Just seeing her pleased face when she opens it makes me smile. Five stars from me because it's a useful gift that can still be fun, for a child or even a grown-up. I would happily choose it again and recommend it to others.

Melanie Fitzgerald

only just arrived, tried it a few times and everything works smoothly.

only just arrived, tried it a few times and everything works smoothly. checked where the fabric meets the ribs, all seems well secured. the canopy has a more substantial feel than I was expecting, which gives me some confidence in it. I wasn't after a really cheap umbrella but didn't want an expensive one either, this seems a good compromise. The button is NOT so sensitive that a light brush sets it off. It closes the canopy for you, then you push the shaft in yourself. Most of these points were things I had wondered about after reading other comments. Hopefully useful for anybody else making up their mind.

This unbrella makes me happy.

This unbrella makes me happy. Cream white is such a pretty colour, and the canopy gives me room instead of feeling like I have to huddle underneath it. I can hold it high enough to watch where I'm going without getting my head wet. Makes me wonder why I put up with such tiny umbrellas before -- this is much more comfortable. It does have a little weight to it though, and after a long wet walk my wrist definitely notices it.

Chelsea Harrington

I'm impressed with how solid this feels so far.

For Christmas I replaced my husband's collection of battered bargain umbrellas with this one. He had several that were hardly worth keeping anymore. I'm impressed with how solid this feels so far. The flexible frame seems much better made than what he was using before, and he likes the button operation. Obviously I can't say how many years it will last, but it feels like a keeper rather than another disposable umbrella.

Martha Valdez

Picked this for a bridal shower and the bride was delighted.

Picked this for a bridal shower and the bride was delighted. She liked it enough to bring it along on her wedding day too.I was nervous that it might arrive squashed, but it was carefully wrapped and came out looking perfect. It's a simpler look than a decorative lace parasol, so a little less special, but much more useful for ordinary rain afterwards.

Mariah Manning

I would recommend it for sunny weather.

I buy an umbrella for the summer each year, mainly to have shade on bright days. This one looks quite smart when I'm carrying it, not something I feel silly using in the sunshine. Living somewhere very hot, that portable bit of cover is worth having. Folds away sensibly too. I would recommend it for sunny weather. Thank you.

Daisy Foster

Handy size to keep in a car or a gym bag as well.

My son walks a few blocks to school, so having an umbrella that goes in his backpack matters. This fits in neatly and doesn't feel flimsy. Handy size to keep in a car or a gym bag as well. I'm happy with the price for something he can take along each day without much fuss.

Dean Maldonado

Excellent little sun umbrella for the money!

Excellent little sun umbrella for the money! Enough room for me without feeling awkward to hold. Has been useful in light rain too. Not heavy to carry. I'm gentle with the button and folding it down, just because I don't like forcing small mechanisms, but at this price I think it's a very sensible buy.

Perry Snow

One of the prettiest umbrellas I've had.

One of the prettiest umbrellas I've had. The cream white canopy is such a lovely simple colour, and the black underneath gives it a really nice contrast. There isn't anything fussy about the look, which is what appeals to me. Even the oval handle looks thoughtfully shaped rather than just stuck on as an afterthought. It feels substantial when it's open, with a frame that supports the fabric nicely. The coverage is generous for something I can fold away and carry. Rainy days aren't usually something I look forward to, but I'm quite keen to take this one out!

Earl Maynard

A useful everyday folding umbrella.

A useful everyday folding umbrella. Closed up it stays out of the way in my bag, but once opened there's enough canopy to cover me properly. The frame feels solid too, and ordinary breezy weather hasn't caused any trouble. I've bought three altogether. The first was doing very well until I lost it, so replacing it with the same umbrella was an easy decision. Then my other half borrowed the replacement for a day and decided she wanted her own. That's how we ended up with the third. No complaints about any of them.

Kerri Hood

Feels like a well made umbrella.

Feels like a well made umbrella. Opens quickly and the ribs seem strong but flexible. Folded length is more than I expected- not a tiny handbag umbrella, though still manageable. It should be useful through rainy days in New York. Water shakes off quite easily.

Debra Santana

Used it in wind and rain recently and it did exactly what I needed.

Used it in wind and rain recently and it did exactly what I needed. The oval loop handle is my favourite part. I hung it over a chair post while we were in the restaurant, which was better than leaving it on the floor. Folded up, it was easy to keep out of the way. There was just enough space for my girlfriend and me underneath if we stood close together. Not roomy for two, but we managed fine. It also dealt with the gusts without giving me any trouble!

Felicia Long

This lives in my briefcase for those days when rain catches me out.

This lives in my briefcase for those days when rain catches me out. It's compact enough to keep there and has coped nicely with the breezy streets of downtown Chicago. I ended up getting more for relatives at Christmas after liking mine so much. They've been a hit with them too!

Kathleen Acevedo

Pleased with the seller and the umbrella.

Pleased with the seller and the umbrella. Everything was dealt with promptly, thank you. Best wishes for the business. The umbrella itself is good quality and I can recommend it. It did take a while to arrive, but that seemed to be the postal service rather than the seller.

Adrienne Mcintosh

Chose this for my five year old niece to take to school.

Chose this for my five year old niece to take to school. She thinks the blue is beautiful and loves seeing it pop open with the button. Her mum likes the coverage, and helps push the shaft back in afterwards. Now the only problem is persuading her that she doesn't need it open indoors!

Dan Fitzgerald

Finally had a reason to take this out in the rain.

Finally had a reason to take this out in the rain. I had doubts about how it would cope with the gusts, but it managed well. I'd prefer a wider canopy and a little more room around the loop handle for my hand, so four stars rather than five. For what I paid, though, it's a good purchase.

Natalie Chung

Love the look of this umbrella!

Love the look of this umbrella! A little bulkier to carry than I expected, but it gives me good cover while watching my daughter's soccer. Holding it above my eyeline lets me follow the game without rain in my face. I've ordered another. One suggestion though: put it away after using it, rather than letting the little kids play with it.

Isabella Meadows

At this price I wasn't expecting much and thought I might send it…

At this price I wasn't expecting much and thought I might send it back, but it feels much more solid once you have it in your hands. Folded up it doesn't take over the cupboard, then you open it and get a surprisingly generous canopy. I can see this getting used a lot rather than sitting around as a spare!!!

Albert Sawyer

She says it's easy to use as well.

Bought the pink one for my daughter in NY...wanted something pretty, not too plain...was worried it might be a bit dull in person....but no, it looks lovely!!!! She is delighted with it and the compact size is just right for her. She says it's easy to use as well. What a relief when choosing something for someone else!!!!! So pleased I picked this one!!!!!!

Antonio Choi

Arrived today and everything looks in good order.

Arrived today and everything looks in good order. It feels much more substantial than the last little umbrella we had, which was a disappointment for my daughter. The green is *beautiful*, and I rather like the oval loop on the handle. There is a button to open it, so I can get it ready for her without fiddling with catches. Haven't had it long enough to know how it will wear, but first impressions are very good! My daughter is four and is already thrilled with her new umbrella.

Victoria Olson

I wasn't going to spend much over $25 on one.

Got this as a Father's Day present for my husband It feels solid and pops open easily, useful for his bald head in sunshine as well as rain. I worried about the size, but there's enough cover for him and our toddler going into daycare in the rain. The pink looks as pictured and makes a change from the usual dark shades. Folding it away takes a little effort to push the shaft down. Umbrellas go missing in our house, and the survivors become pretend swords despite us trying to stop that. I wasn't going to spend much over $25 on one.The price suited me, with similar umbrellas I'd looked at costing about double.

Harry Lane

My first impression was very positive.

My first impression was very positive. The parcel reached me sooner than I had expected and was packed neatly, with the umbrella arriving in good condition. Nothing looked knocked about or carelessly handled. After taking it out, I checked the fabric, frame and handle, and the overall appearance was consistent with the description. The finish is tidy and the materials feel better than I had anticipated at this price. I particularly like that the design is simple rather than overly decorative. In use, it has also been satisfactory. It opens easily with the button and provides comfortable cover in ordinary rain. Folding it away is straightforward, and the included sleeve makes it neat to carry when it is not being used. There has been nothing inconvenient about using it so far. Considering the appearance, construction and everyday usefulness together, I feel it represents very good value for the money. It is the sort of practical item I expect to keep using rather than put aside. I would be comfortable buying another if I needed one, and I can recommend it!

Aimee Yoder

It looks nice as well, really glad I went for a better one!

I had a very durable umbrella before but lost it, then I get a cheaper one which gave up in a storm last month. After that I decide no more spending on average ones. This one feels much nicer quality, very comfort to hold and convenient with the button. It looks nice as well, really glad I went for a better one!

Felicia Mullins

Oh I just love having this umbrella!

Oh I just love having this umbrella! my husband got it for me for christmas after I kept going on about it. I thought a black one would look so smart and it does. Feels solid, opens out to a really useful size (plenty of cover over me, and I enjoy carrying it even when the weather isn't much fun. Only little thing, and it's hardly a complaint, is the dried rain marks show up sometimes. I give it a quick wipe when it needs it and it's looking nice again. lol.

Jonathon Bishop

The shade from this is better than I anticipated.

The shade from this is better than I anticipated. A little more width would have suited me, but I knew the dimensions when I chose it, so I can't really complain about that. It isn't something I'd toss around carelessly, though it feels decently made rather than flimsy. I've carried it on the beach in breezy weather and it stayed manageable, no wrestling with it to keep it upright. Nicely balanced in the hand. The green looks as expected. Sunlight bothers me, so having my own bit of shade was a real help. I wondered whether walking about with an umbrella in the sun would seem old fashioned. Instead a few other women were interested and quite positive about it. Glad I took it along.

Dylan Bryant

The umbrella appears good quality.

The parcel was a little slow to arrive. The umbrella appears good quality. Not tested in rain yet. For everyday use, at this cost, it is quite good. The finishing of the material looks satisfactory. Size is as described. I am satisfied with it. Can recommend to buy.

Easily my favourite umbrella so far!

I wasn't sure about spending this much on a folding umbrella, but after using it I understand the appeal. Rain here in Florida can go from nothing to a proper soaking before you've got yourself organised. Being able to press a button and have the canopy up promptly makes a real difference. The button also collapses the canopy; I then compress the stem by hand before putting it away. I've been using it almost daily for two months, including some very wet, blustery days, and it has worked consistently. There's a reassuring amount of support under the canopy without it feeling like something huge to cart around. You still have to hold on in the wind, naturally. Easily my favourite umbrella so far!

Rain can go bother somebody else!

I wanted a proper 'brella after my old street-stall special started giving up. This isn't a gigantic walking tent, but it isn't one of those barely-cover-your-head things either. Proper coverage without carrying half the pavement around with you. Rain can go bother somebody else!Seriously, there's enough room for me to stay comfortably underneath, and it has felt steady in the breezy rain I've used it in. It folds down too, so it doesn't need its own corner of the house. The oval handle is a nice touch, though the overall build matters more to me. Had it about a month now and it's doing the job. No complaints so far.

Anna Summers

This one has surprised me.

The inexpensive umbrellas I used before this always seemed to end up with tiny holes around the ribs. Never knew whether it was the fabric pulling tight or the frame rubbing against it, but I didn't expect much more than a couple of years from them. This one has surprised me. Four years of use now and the canopy still has no tears, and it looks very much as it did when new. That is what I want from something I use regularly, not clever extras but a design that lasts. The coverage is really for one person, so don't expect a family umbrella. On the other hand it folds down neatly and the button that closes the canopy is particularly handy beside the car. You still push the shaft in by hand afterwards, which is straightforward.Recommended.

Charlene Cannon

Smart looking umbrella and the construction seems very good.

Smart looking umbrella and the construction seems very good. The carry sleeve is handy, and I like that the whole thing folds down neatly rather than being awkward to store. Opens with no fuss and the fabric feels decent. A classy looking umbrella for the price!

Carrie Ross

I bought this to replace an older umbrella.

I bought this to replace an older umbrella. I like the simple look and the sleeve, and it did a good job the first time I used it in windy rain. Haven't had it out in anything really rough, so I'm keeping a star back for now. The details are nice: the oval handle gives me a comfortable grip, the opening button is easy to find, and there's enough cover for me without carrying a huge umbrella. I liked it enough to consider a few as Christmas presents. UPDATE: I've now had it about a year and still reach for it. The fabric and frame are holding up nicely. It isn't the tiniest thing when folded, so I do have to think about which bag I'm taking. For everyday rain, though, I'm happy with how it's worked out.

Hayden Shepherd

Living around Boston gives him plenty of chances to use it anyway.

Our grandson just turned 6 and is so pleased with this--keeps hoping for rain--and carries it about even when the sun is out. Living around Boston gives him plenty of chances to use it anyway. Still early days with it, so I can't really say yet how it will wear.

Patricia Mckee

My niece is in LOVE with her new umbrella!

My niece is in LOVE with her new umbrella! She keeps carrying it about even when there's no rain in sight. Even the oval handle was an immediate hit, she thinks it looks adorable. It feels nicely made too, not just something cute to look at. I was happy with how everything arrived and it's been a really good purchase all round. Her reaction alone made it worthwhile! I'd definitely choose one again and am so pleased I picked this for her. Big thumbs UP from us both!

Also, it actually handles our Seattle rain!

An umbrella my college roommate had some twenty years back set a ridiculously high bar for me-- I still remember how pretty it was! I've spent years wanting something with that same quietly lovely feel, and this one finally does it. The gray top looks elegant rather than old fashioned, and the oval handle has a nice feel. Also, it actually handles our Seattle rain!

Dean Velazquez

This blue umbrella is that something.

A ninja presumably regards an umbrella as an admission that the raindrops have won. Years of secret training ought to include stepping into the dry spaces between them, which leaves the rest of us, with our ordinary knees and supermarket dinners, needing something a little more practical. This blue umbrella is that something. There is a danger, of course, that pressing a button and having a canopy spring into place will feel like a combat skill. It isn't. Please do not mistake this modest achievement for permission to challenge suspicious figures in alleyways, especially the ones dressed as pirates. You have equipped yourself against drizzle, not assembled a fearsome arsenal. The closed oval loop is a handle rather than a device for climbing buildings, and the flexible ribs have the much more useful occupation of holding up an umbrella. Sensible wrist arrangements, although I suspect ninjas dispense with wrists entirely and simply glare their hands into position. What matters to the non-ninja is that it looks smart, opens without a wrestling match and actually shelters you from rain. Folded up it is a manageable thing to take along, rather than a ceremonial object demanding its own entrance. Walk confidently, keep the blue canopy above your head, and let the imaginary villains find someone wetter. Five stars for ordinary rainy-day survival No ninja qualifications awarded

Troy Carson

It arrived quite quickly too.

A useful umbrella for the money, folds to a manageable size and isn't too heavy, covers me well in rain. It opens with a button, which is convenient, although I can't judge how long the folding mechanism will last yet. I will look after it and see. It goes in my bag so rain protection is there when needed. It arrived quite quickly too.

My best friend absolutely LOVES the umbrella I gave her.

My best friend absolutely LOVES the umbrella I gave her. There's enough canopy to keep her covered, but it isn't awkward to carry around. The handle is easy to hold and she can keep it positioned comfortably when it's raining. Gets a recommendation from both of us!

Bought four for our rainy tap number, mostly thinking about how they'd look on stage. My classmates and I were surprised by how substantial they were, almost a shame to use them just as props. They open smoothly and feel sturdy, although getting them packed away takes a little practice. We finished our last performance and found it was actually raining outside... which had us laughing as we put the umbrellas up and shuffled away from the theatre.

Elijah Herman

The quality has made a good impression.

The finishing was very impressive to me, even the customs and postal people noticed it.It is a fine work.I find the cover rather generous when using it alone and personally would prefer a smaller size.Still after looking over other umbrellas I can recommend this workmanship very warmly. The quality has made a good impression. With best wishes

My friend was pleased with his too.

I ordered a pair, one for me and one for a friend. They came neatly packed and didn't take long to arrive. The loop at the handle has had quite a few comments, people seem to like something a bit different without it looking over the top. My friend was pleased with his too.We both like that it doesn't take up loads of room once it's folded. The reason for four rather than five is the sleeve. You have to fold the fabric fairly neatly or it's a fiddle to slide it on, and I'm not always that patient. Once it's packed away it's fine, just not my favourite bit. The umbrella itself has kept me dry and is fun to use. Here's to beating the showers :)

Shaun Sellers

I help push the shaft down for putting away.

We haven't had many rainy days in the two weeks since it arrived, so not a lot of use yet. My son is delighted with it though and wants to bring it everywhere. He's two and a half and very keen on doing things himself, so he loves working the button. I help push the shaft down for putting away. So far it feels well made and like it should last. We shall see!
