There is more cover here than I expected from a folding umbrella.

There is more cover here than I expected from a folding umbrella. Two people can get underneath if they stand close, although I find it most comfortable on my own. The frame has stayed steady in the wind I've used it in, which surprised me in a good way. Folded up it is much easier to carry than a long umbrella. It isn't quite small enough to disappear into every bag, so I may still want a smaller one for days when carrying less matters more than coverage.

Hello.

Hello. It folds to a handy size and is easy enough to carry in a bag, though not something I would try to squeeze into a small pocket. For ordinary rain it suits me, but I would leave it at home in very strong wind. Enough room for one person. That meets my needs. Thank you.

He asks to use it even when the weather is dry.

Purchased for use with my two and a half year old. It is a full sized umbrella when open, so I handle the button and let him hold it with me rather than treating it as a little toy. He asks to use it even when the weather is dry. After a few months it still looks very good and the frame feels reassuringly solid. The opening action is quick, and pressing the button folds the canopy before I push the shaft back down by hand. I had expected something lighter and flimsier, so the construction was a pleasant surprise. The blue is also close to the picture. Overall I am delighted with the quality and would recommend it.

The umbrella has a nice feel in the hand, and the grip is comfortable.

The umbrella has a nice feel in the hand, and the grip is comfortable. Opening it with the button is straightforward. Closing took us a little longer to understand from the instructions: the canopy folds with the button, then you press the telescoping pole back in yourself. Once we realised that, it made sense. It was a present for a 12-year-old who carries it in a school backpack, and after the first week it's doing fine. I wouldn't expect a younger child to find that final push as easy, so it's worth showing them rather than assuming the button does absolutely everything. We've only had a short time with it, but the useful size and comfortable handle have both been appreciated. Happy with it so far.

So easy to use, it earns five stars.

One of my favourite umbrellas.(I have another compact one I like a little more.) it has a button for opening and gathering the canopy, then I push the pole in. The beige is pretty. It feels sturdy, although so far I've only carried it for shade, not on a wet or windy day. I was after something small, and there's still enough room underneath for a smaller adult like me. So easy to use, it earns five stars.

Quality seems really nice.

Umbrellas rarely get used at home in Arizona, so this one was mainly for travel to New York City and wetter places. It recently came with me bird watching in the Brazilian rain forest and I was glad I'd packed it. Opening is simple, the cover was good, and it felt steady when a breeze came through. It isn't a bother to carry and fits in my travel bag easily between uses. Quality seems really nice. One of the better umbrellas I've owned, and useful to have along when travelling.

Living just outside Boston means an umbrella gets plenty of work…

Living just outside Boston means an umbrella gets plenty of work in the rain and wind. I normally seem to need a few each year, so this one has been a pleasant surprise so far. The push button is handy when I'm heading out, and the ribs haven't given me any trouble in blustery weather. It opens out bigger than I had pictured for a folding umbrella, with room for someone to stand close beside me, but I dont see that as a bad thing. For what I paid it feels like a good solid purchase, hopefully I'll be using it for a long while.

The cream white is lovely!

I was after a replacement umbrella with a decent sized canopy in a light colour, and kept finding little travel ones instead. Spotted this while doing some evening "window shopping" and decided to try it. The cream white is lovely! It's compact when folded but doesn't feel skimpy once it's up. The button is handy too, particularly when I'm trying to get myself organised before stepping out into rain. After reading a few doubtful comments I wasn't sure what to expect, but mine feels well made. I still angle it into the wind rather than expecting it to look after itself. It arrived without any damage and I'm very pleased with the whole thing. Definitely worth considering if you want something simple and smart.

Nicholas Ewing

He'd still recommend it overall.

I gave this to my husband for work in downtown Manhattan, where the wind can be quite strong. He's used it in those conditions and likes it. Folded up, it fits nicely in his briefcase, although I had expected a little more coverage when open. I suppose that's the compromise with a compact umbrella. He'd still recommend it overall.

Love having this umbrella for my walk home.

Love having this umbrella for my walk home. The bus wasn't running for two months and with rain expected I needed something for that mile every day. It feels really sturdy. It has kept me nicely covered on the walk. Quite a decent spread when open, which was what I wanted. I'm pleased I picked it.

Mariah Mercer

Had a chance to use it yesterday and it kept me dry.

I chose it mainly because I wanted something that wouldn't take over my bag. Opened out, it's a sensible size for one person, not a huge shared umbrella. I leave mine in the car so it's there when I need it.Had a chance to use it yesterday and it kept me dry. A press brings it up, another gathers the canopy; you then compress the stem yourself, which wasn't difficult. The sleeve slips on easily.Overall, compact, inexpensive and apparently sturdy enough for what I need. I haven't found anything to complain about.

Crystal Banks

This has made walking downtown a lot easier.

This has made walking downtown a lot easier. The wind between buildings used to turn my umbrellas inside out bcs it gets rough down there. Wanted something that could cope but still go in my backpack. Two wet outings this winter and this one has done well, no wrestling it back into shape. The stem feels less substantial than on a long umbrella, but i suppose that's the trade off for carrying a compact one. For what I needed, I'm glad I picked it.

Jerome Henderson

The oval handle is different and I quite like that.

Haven't put it through enough to judge how tough it is, but it certainly has a bit of charm. Feels fairly light, and the fabric is cloth, not something I'd call heavy duty. The oval handle is different and I quite like that. This is NOT what I'd take for serious wilderness hiking. For my everyday needs it seems good, and with a little care should last me well.

Keith Coleman

It feels much the same as when it was new.

The first one I bought has been going for about two years, so I wanted another to keep at home. It's held up very well. Button opening and canopy closing still work nicely, and the fabric hasn't torn.It feels much the same as when it was new. One thing with the flexible ribs is that you can feel them give when a gust catches the canopy. That takes a little getting used to, especially when you've got something in your other hand and can't adjust your grip easily. I'd rather have a bit of give than something completely rigid though. Very satisfied with both.

Kylie Molina

I definitely see it as a one person umbrella.

Cream White was my choice and its a nice soft looking shade, not glaring. The umbrella feels well made and the button is straightforward to use. Getting it into the sleeve after folding it neatly hasn't been a struggle either. I've only had it out in regular rain with a bit of wind, nothing really wild, but it hasn't turned inside out on me. I could do with a little more width, although at this price that isn't something I'd take a star away for. I definitely see it as a one person umbrella. For me and my purse there is comfortable room to walk normally and stay dry. Try squeezing somebody else in and I think you'd both have a damp shoulder.

Brent Merritt

For commuting, the size works well for me.

For commuting, the size works well for me. I can keep myself and most of my backpack under cover without feeling like I'm blocking the whole pavement. Folded, it is manageable to carry and feels solid rather than flimsy. It has handled breezy rain well, although I still keep a firm grip when a gust catches the canopy. My one disappointment was my own assumption about automatic closing. The button pulls the canopy shut, but I still have to press the telescoping stem down manually. I'd pictured the entire umbrella shortening itself. That's not how this one operates, so it is more a matter of my expectations than anything wrong with it.

Sara Bowen

Easy to carry and feels solid in the hand.

At last, an umbrella that feels properly made. I wondered whether a compact one would be too small for what i needed, but the cover is better than expected. It stays in the car so my wife and i have it when we're out together. We can both shelter under it if we walk close, rather than one of us getting all the rain. Easy to carry and feels solid in the hand. For what I paid, I couldn't be more satisfied!

Leah Burch

Opened up, it feels roomy.

I picked this for the windy walk to work, and beige happens to be the colour I like best! Walking there and back every day, I wanted an umbrella that wouldn't flip over easily and would cover my work clothes properly. Opened up, it feels roomy. I reckon two people could share it without much squeezing. It is still a bit of a nuisance to carry around, but I'll take that over getting soaked. Seeing other commuters fighting with their umbrellas in the wind and rain while mine keeps me dry makes carrying it seem well worth the bother.

Vanessa Hughes

It feels substantial rather than a tiny handbag umbrella.

The beige is just the shade I expected, although I can't say how it handles rain because I haven't opened it. My plan was to carry it in my purse, but even my larger one isn't a comfortable fit. It feels substantial rather than a tiny handbag umbrella.I can see it being useful tucked in the car instead, which is probably where mine will end up. Nothing wrong with the appearance, just not quite the size I had in mind. A reminder to check the folded dimensions first.

Lindsay Green

Used this a few times now and it's been excellent.

I'd spent ages trying to find a black umbrella I could carry for shade as well as rain. Used this a few times now and it's been excellent. I don't like how sunscreen sits under makeup, and hats never do my hair any favours, so having some shade along is really handy. Good for walks on those hot Australian summer days. It feels sturdy, though heavier than I'd ideally want in a handbag. I'd rather that than a flimsy frame though. The plain black underneath suits me as well, no distracting decoration. Happy with this choice.

Joy Ward

Solid, folds down neatly, and useful for shade as well as rain.

One of those purchases that makes me ridiculously happy! Solid, folds down neatly, and useful for shade as well as rain. Mine stays in the car so I can take it along to the beach. Friends can enjoy sitting in the sunshine and I can hold this over me instead of baking with them. I'd rather pay for something that feels properly made than keep buying umbrellas I don't enjoy using. For how much use I get from it, I think the price is excellent.

Jasmine Meza

Opening it and closing the canopy with the button is easy.

There's room for me and someone beside me if we stay close, but it still feels light to carry. Opening it and closing the canopy with the button is easy. The blue is cheerful on a wet day and makes you easy to spot. I think a parent walking with a little child would appreciate the coverage instead of crowding under a tiny umbrella. It feels durable and well put together for heavy downpours, and could give you shade from the sun too. It opens bigger than the small single person umbrellas I've had, so there's a useful bit of extra shelter without giving up being able to fold it away. What I like most is the roomy size, how solid it feels, and that cheerful colour.

Ronnie Salazar

Otherwise it looks nice and I am very happy using it!

This is close to what I wanted. A solid umbrella for rainy days rather than another tiny bag one that feels flimsy after a few uses. The canopy gives me decent cover and the loop handle is comfortable to hold while walking. It folds up, but I wouldn't call it tiny once it is shut; as a short person I notice the length when carrying it in my bag. That is my one reservation. Otherwise it looks nice and I am very happy using it!

Trevor Duke

The canopy springs open with a press of the handle button.

The Haven compact umbrella has so far done the simple thing I ask of an umbrella: kept the rain off me without being a nuisance to carry. The canopy springs open with a press of the handle button. It measures roughly 105cm across when open, which is a useful amount of cover for something that folds to about 40cm. At around 390g it isn't weightless, but I don't mind it in a travel bag. The flexible ribs are reassuring, although I can't say yet what long use will do to the frame and joints. I will be keeping an eye on that. We have only had light showers since I started using it, so I can't give a meaningful verdict on really rough weather. I would rather wait for actual experience than guess from how it looks. If a more demanding outing changes my opinion I'll come back to this. For now it is a very satisfactory travelling umbrella.

Terri Bradshaw

Very happy up to now & would recommend it.

Plenty of coverage, but packs down neatly for my backpack. Sleeve comes with it. Wanted the push-button opening/closing and that part works really well. No experience with heavy wind yet, so I can't speak for that. Very happy up to now & would recommend it.Update: Took it for a walk in light rain and the breeze picked up. Watching it in that, I'm a little unsure about using it when the wind gets much stronger.

Dillon Mercer

I've taken it out several times now and am happy with it.

I've kept buying cheap folding umbrellas for my travel bag for years and never been very impressed with them. Paid a little more for this one and it was a good decision. The material has a decent thickness and the frame doesn't feel flimsy when the wind picks up. I've taken it out several times now and am happy with it. It isn't my expensive full-size umbrella, but I could have a few of these for what that one cost.

Melanie Hopkins

So far the canopy has coped with the wind I've met without flipping.

So far the canopy has coped with the wind I've met without flipping. It has kept my work clothes dry crossing campus, and I also take it for walks around the neighborhood. The oval handle gives me a secure grip when the weather picks up. I would still prefer a little extra coverage, even if that meant carrying something larger. Only had it a month, so I'm waiting to see how it manages a full rainy season before giving it full marks.

Sandra Franco

Overall a nice umbrella, just a small comfort reservation.

The umbrella arrived a few days after I ordered, so no complaints there. Unpacked it and tried it straight away and i was pleased with how it looks. The shape is neat and the unusual oval handle makes it feel a bit different from a plain umbrella. I've used it several times now and it's kept the rain off nicely.Pros:Neat designUseful sleeveSolid feelQuick button openingCons:The handle feels hard if i hold it for agesTakes more bag space than i pictured(lol)p.s. A more rounded grip would suit my hand better for long spells, but for normal trips out it's been absolutely fine. Overall a nice umbrella, just a small comfort reservation.

David Tucker

Worth the money to me.

Just as described . Plenty of room over me and my laptop bag, which is what I needed. It feels well put together, not flimsy. I would have preferred a curved handle instead of this closed oval one, but that is only my preference. I don't lean on an umbrella or knock the end along the pavement anyway. Worth the money to me. Here in west central Florida the rain can come down all at once and i was impressed with how it did last time out. The bag stayed covered as well as me. I would consider another to leave in the other car so there is one handy there too. Would recommend spending a little more for something that feels this solid.

Kiara Miller

Build quality is excellent.

Coverage is a little modest, but a fair trade for something that folds and stays in the car. I use it for short walks in the rain rather than expecting it to cover everything on a long outing. Build quality is excellent. The roughly 105cm open size is the span across the canopy; folded it's around 40cm, so check where you plan to keep it. Would like a slightly softer feel to the handle, but that's a small preference rather than a problem. It has behaved well in the windy weather I've used it in.

Sean Gilbert

I would certainly recommend it.

I've started walking to the office every day, about eight minutes each way, and going home for lunch means doing that walk several times. A rainy morning used to mean sitting at work damp afterwards. This umbrella has made that much better. It gives enough cover that my tote stays under it with me instead of hanging out getting wet. Feels sturdy to carry and has kept me dry on those trips. I would certainly recommend it.

Karen Forbes

For what i paid this has been a great buy.

For what i paid this has been a great buy. The beige looks nice and there's plenty of canopy over me, even enough for two if you stand close together. Fabric feels substantial, not like it's going to tear the first time it's used. I was a bit suspicious of the price because i've never really shopped for umbrellas before and didn't know what made one good. Glad i tried it.It might have been a four and a half for me because the handle feels a little lightweight compared to the rest, but that's just how it feels in the hand. It's worked well in light wind and rain so far. Hoping for a good few years from it.

Theodore Hatfield

For the price I think it is a good choice.

Fits into my bag easily and isn't a burden to carry. It works for a shower or a sunny walk, so I get plenty of use from it. For the price I think it is a good choice. The button needs a fairly firm press, but once I got used to that I found it simple to use.

Wyatt Lynn

Delighted with my neat black umbrella.

Delighted with my neat black umbrella. Small enough folded to stay in my work bag,so Ican have it ready instead of getting caught out by the rain! Smart,Sturdy and put together nicely. The size open is good as well, not just a tiny bit of cover over my head.

Malik Lucero

Went with pink and it's beautiful.

Went with pink and it's beautiful. The loop handle is lovely to hold--no uncomfortable digging into my hand. I walk a fair bit and have already taken it out in sun and a breeze, really comfortable to carry. :D Looking forward to trying it on a wet day!

Denise Mccarthy

Very good quality, works perfectly, thank you very much. It's very well made, strong and big. I still have to try it out, but it looks very good.

i***e

Looks great, haven't used in rain yet but it looks like something that will last. It opens and also closes with a push of a button. Can be hung on a bag or stroller which is convenient. Feels high quality.

Customer

no rain test yet, but nice for shade.

It took me a moment to understand the mechanism. The button folds the canopy, but I still have to push the telescoping section down myself. Now I've worked that out it's easy. Fabric feels substantial; no rain test yet, but nice for shade.

Stephen Jones

Arrived without any issues.

Arrived without any issues. The fabric feels substantial and it gives a comfortable patch of shade. The closed loop handle is useful for attaching to my bag. A little stiff to pack away neatly, but I expect that will improve with practice.

Douglas Valencia

Really happy to have this in my messanger bag.

Really happy to have this in my messanger bag. It doesn't take up much space and the button is easy to use. Gives me plenty of cover in the rain. A gust turned the canopy back once, but it went back into shape and carried on working fine.

Valerie Rosales

Very good. Strong wind can bend it, but the sun doesn't get through the canopy and it hasn't broken after a couple of weeks of use in windstorms. Amazing for the sun.

This one still keeps me dry and packs away neatly afterwards.

Fits in the backpack I take on my daily commute, which was the main thing for me. I'm happy using it, although my old umbrella felt easier to steer in New York's windy rain. This one still keeps me dry and packs away neatly afterwards.

Samantha Bruce

It takes a little more bag space than my old favorite.

Automatic opening and closing of the canopy both work well on this umbrella. It takes a little more bag space than my old favorite. I was used to a different handle shape, so the loop feels new to me, but overall I'm very satisfied.

Paula Mclean

I find the design very nice and it work well in breezy rain.

I find the design very nice and it work well in breezy rain. Strong feeling frame, among the nicer umbrellas I've used. Thinking to get another for autumn. The button makes opening easy and the canopy folds neatly. I recommend it.

Kerri French

More than 2 years with this umbrella now and it's still doing well.

More than 2 years with this umbrella now and it's still doing well. Nothing loose or troublesome, and opening it with the button is smooth. I like the oval loop handle for hanging it up to dry, no need to balance it against something. It looks smart and feels properly put together. The size suits me--not one of those huge umbrellas you end up wrestling with, but not a tiny cover either. Plenty of space for one, or two tucked close. It folds down to something sensible to carry. All in all, it makes going out in the rain a lot less miserable.

Perry Foster

An excellent umbrella.

An excellent umbrella. Once opened it's bigger than I pictured, which turned out to be a good thing. It's not easy finding a decent sized umbrella locally in Southern California (why I went online).A few people who saw mine have since bought one too, so it's clearly not just me who likes it.

Virginia Matthews

I help push the shaft back in afterwards.

The pink was an immediate hit with my daughter, and she treats this as something much more interesting than an umbrella! There is plenty of fabric over her when it is open, but folded up it is manageable for her to carry about. The closed oval handle is easy for her to hold and she likes hanging it up in her room afterwards, as though it is part of the decoration. The simple colour is really pretty without needing any cartoon pictures. We have used it on rainy days and, by used, I also mean she has opened it just to pretend it is raining whenever she gets the chance. So far it has stood up to all of that very nicely. She can work the button to open it and fold the canopy; I help push the shaft back in afterwards. It has been an enjoyable, useful thing for her rather than something she leaves behind.

Lucas Harding

Absolutely love this one!

Absolutely love this one! It slides into the lower bit of my backpack (is that meant for shoes?) and opens wide enough for me with my bags tucked in close. Even a bit of slanting rain hasn't left me soaked. I'd tell anyone after an everyday umbrella to get it. At this price, what's not to like?

Kristy Walsh

For keeping rain off, this umbrella is GREAT.

For keeping rain off, this umbrella is GREAT. It gives decent cover, it manages a breeze and the button is simple to use. The part I don't love is the handle. There was quite a STRONG smell at first, enough that I noticed it in the room where I left it. After airing it out that settled down a lot, although I could still notice it on my hand for a while. I also managed to get a dark scuff on the wall when it slid over while leaning there. It cleaned off, just a nuisance. Does the job well, but I would prefer a different handle next time.

Ethan Wilkerson

I felt like I'd finally bought a GOOD umbrella.

I took this umbrella with me to the Caribbean islands because I knew I'd be dealing with plenty of rain. It earned its place in my bag! Getting between classes in showers was much easier with decent cover over me, instead of arriving all wet. I felt like I'd finally bought a GOOD umbrella. It wasn't the cheapest choice, but three years later I'm still using it here in Florida. Considering how often I've carried it, and how much rain it's kept off me, I'd say it was money well spent.
