Feels lighter in my hand than my previous umbrella, and the loop is more comfortable to hold. Also haven't heard any of that little rib squeaking, which is a relief. The black underneath looks slightly different in daylight than I imagined, so I wasn't completely sure about it at first, but it's been comfortable for shade and I think I'm being picky for this price.

I tried another umbrella first, but this one suits me better.
I tried another umbrella first, but this one suits me better. Solidly built, with a simple classic look I really like. It covers me and what I carry to work without being so wide I'm bumping into everybody. More than I usually spend on an umbrella, but I think the quality earns it. I expect to get plenty of use out of it.
Darrell Cherry
The black is simple and smart, which I also appreciate.
No serious storm test yet, but it's handled ordinary windy weather without any bother. It feels more substantial than the umbrella I used before, and that one lasted me years, so I'm hopeful this will too. The black is simple and smart, which I also appreciate.

in proper rain I want it to myself.
Nearly a year of keeping this in the car and it is still the one I reach for. It has been out in plenty of rain, though I can't claim to have tested it in anything extreme. The button action hasn't given me any trouble. Opening is quick, and closing the canopy then pushing the shaft back down by hand has become second nature. Nothing about that feels like a chore.
As a compact, it's probably a bit optimistic for a small handbag. Folded up it still has some length to it, but alongside the front seat it makes sense. Coverage is about what I'd expect from something this size. Two people can squeeze under for a few drops; in proper rain I want it to myself. My lower legs still get wet if the rain is blowing across, which doesn't strike me as a fault. There's only so much a handheld umbrella can cover. The fabric has kept the rain off my head and shoulders and hasn't stayed soggy for ages afterwards. A bigger umbrella lives in the trunk, but I seldom bother digging it out now.
Before this I seemed to be replacing small umbrellas far too often. They felt flimsy, and after a handful of outings I was back looking for another. Having finally used a compact that felt worth keeping, I paid more attention when choosing this one. I'm glad I did. I don't throw umbrellas around or expect them to survive being treated badly, but I do expect normal use not to finish them off. This has handled that very well. For something that spends most of its life in the car, it has earned its space

This has been better than I expected.
This has been better than I expected. The frame feels substantial without making the umbrella awkward to carry, and the open size suits me well. One press opens it; another folds the canopy down, then I push the telescoping section in to finish. It stays neatly closed and goes back into the sleeve without much trouble. I'm used to straight handles, but the closed oval loop gives me something secure to hold onto and is comfortable around my fingers.

The green is great too.
One of the best things I've bought in ages. The shape looks modern without being silly, and it doesn't feel like a flimsy emergency umbrella. The green is great too. People have actually commented when I've been walking around New York, which is not something I expected over an umbrella. Most important, it keeps the rain off me, including my back. I've used it on breezy walks near the river on the Upper West Side and haven't had it turn over on me.The frame feels substantial, but I don't find it a chore to carry. I like the oval handle as well; a small detail that makes it look different from the usual folding ones. For me, WELL worth paying for rather than chasing the lowest price. Would happily recommend it. A+ from me.

Good rain cover, though, and steady in a breeze.
The appearance is the best thing about it for me; the pink looks smart and the whole umbrella feels solid. After using it for nearly a year, I still don't love packing it away. The button folds the canopy fine, but you have to compress the stem yourself, and that takes more of a push than I find comfortable. It works properly, just isn't quite the effortless closing I had in mind. Good rain cover, though, and steady in a breeze.
Michael Solomon
The blue looks lovely, and the umbrella feels well put together.
The blue looks lovely, and the umbrella feels well put together. One press opens it out to a useful size, and folded up it fits easily in my tote. Normally I prefer a longer umbrella, as little folding ones can feel flimsy and don't always cover me properly when it's raining. This has a reassuringly solid feel and enough space underneath that I don't have that problem. I'm pleased I tried it instead of getting another full length one. It turned up quickly as well, which was nice.
Jaime Mann
Really solid umbrella.
Left my first one behind after about a year's use and replaced it with the same kind. Really solid umbrella. Neat looking. Feels well put together. One press brings the canopy down when I'm going inside, then I shorten the shaft by hand. Much less awkward at the door. Good coverage for something that folds away this neatly.
Duane Steele
this gives more useful coverage than that.
For me, the useful part is the amount of cover once it is open. A tiny canopy might keep your hair dry while leaving your shoulders soaked; this gives more useful coverage than that. My only suggestion would be a clear section for visibility. You do have to lift the edge to see where you are going.
Phillip Schaefer
Haven't tried it in rough weather, but it's been fine for normal rain.
Our 4 year old is set on being a fireman like dad and was keen on having an umbrella; this one seems nicely put together, with material that feels like a proper adult one. I'll be doing the button and folding for him. Haven't tried it in rough weather, but it's been fine for normal rain. Should be useful if Halloween is drizzly, since he's already decided on the fireman costume again this year!
Amber Cantrell
Rain isn't necessary, she wants it along anyway.
My granddaughter chose the pink and absolutely loves it! Rain isn't necessary, she wants it along anyway. She's only two, so opening it is my part and she gets to stand underneath. She is thrilled with it, and I like how substantial it feels rather than flimsy or toy like.
Tyler Valentine
Everything is as described, a very nice blue on top.
Everything is as described, a very nice blue on top. Underneath it is all black. The fabric and seams look tidy. The automatic opening and canopy closing both operate correctly. It reached me in Ukraine after roughly two weeks, which seemed quick. Overall, a good impression on receiving it.

Looks smart, feels solid, and has been reassuringly steady in the rain and breezes so far. The ribs don't give me that flimsy feeling some folding umbrellas have.It folds down, but it isn't the tiniest umbrella to squeeze into an already full bag, so check the size first. I bought it for dependable coverage rather than for being the smallest possible spare. For somewhere with changeable whether, I think spending a little more on something that feels this sturdy makes sense.
Martin Calderon
A useful one to have handy, and I'm pleased with it.
Mine stays in the car, ready for those showers that catch you out. The frame feels reinforced (all those ribs, I suppose), and it has been fine in normal breezes. I still wouldn't expect it to deal with the really gusty days we get here. What umbrella does? A useful one to have handy, and I'm pleased with it.

Living in WA means this has had plenty of outings already.
Living in WA means this has had plenty of outings already. It looks nice and feels more substantial than I expected from a folding umbrella. In ordinary rain it has done well, and it hasn't been troublesome in a breeze. I would point out that this is really for one person, not something to share comfortably. If I don't keep it centered I can still get a damp shoulder, especially with rain coming sideways. It also drips near my legs if I hold it too low. On the plus side my 8 year old thinks it is beautiful and keeps asking to borrow it. Pressing the button to open it is handy when we're heading out, and overall I am glad I chose it.

Lovely umbrella, and the pink is such a cheerful change.
Lovely umbrella, and the pink is such a cheerful change. The automatic opening AND canopy closing are easy enough for my seven year old daughter to manage. Two little things stop me giving it five stars... after closing the canopy you still need to push the shaft back into the handle before the next opening. That needs more effort than the button, so she usually hands that part to me. Also, getting all the folds lying neatly when putting it away is a bit more fiddly than I hoped. With something that goes in and out of a school locker, easy packing matters as much as easy opening. Nothing has stopped us using it, just a couple of details I would like made easier. One thought for the maker: a simpler way of keeping the fabric tidy afterwards would be appreciated. Otherwise it gives good coverage and feels substantial. People have commented on how pretty it is, and having something bright on a dull wet day really does make a difference.

What a relief to have some shade!
Held this over me while watching my son play baseball in the blazing heat. What a relief to have some shade! I felt far more comfortable than sitting out in the direct sun. It's a good size for me without being awkward, and holding it through the game wasn't a bother.
Ralph Fitzgerald
An umbrella for "sun and rain was what I searched for.
An umbrella for "sun and rain was what I searched for. I ride a tricycle on the trail and fancied having some cover for the stops..and.. a bit of fun besides. I carry this folded while riding, then open it when I stop for a break. It gives me shade or some shelter without having to carry a big canopy the whole time. A few smiles from people are a nice bonus. Those trail breaks are more comfortable now.
Ethan Strickland
Solid design -- I like it.
Folded down it is about 40cm long and goes into my messenger bag without much trouble. Opened up, the shaft and canopy give me good coverage in ordinary rain. Solid design -- I like it.One thing worth knowing: the handle button gets it open, and another press closes the canopy. After that you still need to push the telescoping shaft down by hand until it locks. That's part of packing it away, not another automatic step. Easy once you've done it a couple of times.
Loretta Ferrell
We're very pleased.
Our daughter had been asking for an umbrella for Christmas, with all the rain we get here. We chose this one and she wants it along even when it's sunny. She's only two and a half, so I help her with it, but she's thrilled having her own. It feels solid despite all the attention it gets and looks really nice too. We're very pleased.
Christy Hanna
(I mean the button on the handle, not anything up inside the umbrella.
Ordered three for the preschoolers and they've all been working nicely. The button is a lot simpler to explain than having them fiddle with a sliding catch. (I mean the button on the handle, not anything up inside the umbrella.) One press opens it and another folds the canopy down. A grownup still needs to shorten the pole afterwards, so it isn't totally a do-it-yourself job for little kids! HEADS UP: My son -- in 1st grade -- likes using his too, though I help with putting it away. It's a useful size for him now and feels like something we'll get plenty of use from.

Feels like a strong little umbrella, with ribs that give rather than seeming rigid. The automatic opening and folding of the canopy is handy when I'm in a hurry. It does have a bit of heft for something that folds this small, which would be my only reservation. I can live with that though, because it's kept me properly dry when the rain came down.
Dominic Simpson
Rainy car trips are much less of a wrestling match with this umbrella.
Rainy car trips are much less of a wrestling match with this umbrella. Seriously! The button is the clever bit. I can get myself onto the seat with the canopy still over the doorway, then tap it and the canopy folds down. So much nicer than standing there getting soaked while trying to shut an umbrella. The pole still needs pushing down afterwards, which is fine. BRILLIANT little convenience! The frame has held up nicely in wet, breezy weather too. Another one for my wife next!
Julia Fry
It feels sturdy and I'm glad I bought it.
Picked this up at a good price, mainly because I wanted more cover than my little umbrella gave me. It is roomy for one person, or two standing close, but I hadn't bothered to measure the folded size and it takes up more of my bag than I expected. On a crowded sidewalk I have to be a little more aware of where the canopy is. None of that has put me off though, especially for what I paid. It feels sturdy and I'm glad I bought it. I'd suggest it for someone wanting decent cover for rain, the beach or sitting outdoors. If the smallest possible bundle is what matters, check the dimensions first. For me it's a keeper.
Riley Berry
There is more heft here than I expected from a folding umbrella.
There is more heft here than I expected from a folding umbrella. The frame seems sturdy, and having a button to close the canopy as well as open it is a novelty for me. (Never had that before - I like it!) There's proper room underneath, not the tiny amount you sometimes get with a portable umbrella.I wouldn't choose it for the lightest possible briefcase setup, but for the coverage and solid feel I'm very happy to carry it.

The good bits:It fits inside my purse.
After looking through loads of comments I settled on this one. My job takes me between several campus buildings all day, which means an umbrella gets opened and put away a lot. Something that looks different from everyone else's was important too, since I didn't want mine going into the general pile and getting confused with another. And I need to get through doors quickly, not stand there fiddling. The good bits:It fits inside my purse. The cream white is easy for me to pick out among all the darker umbrellas people leave around.A push on the button opens it straight out, without me having to finish spreading it.I can bring the canopy closed using one hand. The less good bit: there's not a huge amount of coverage. It isn't the smallest folding umbrella I've carried, but it is still a compact one. That was a choice I made because I have to carry it between buildings and don't want a big umbrella along all day. Just be realistic if you want your legs kept dry as well as your head, this probably isn't the one for that.
Jill Marshall
Oh!
Quite compact folded up ^^ Nice to have with me day to day when rain comes out of nowhere, and the finish is better than I was expecting! Oh! One thing confused me at first: pressing the button closes the canopy, but you still have to push the telescoping shaft in by hand. I was looking for something else to press, so worth knowing that before you try packing it away...

Feels well put together apart from the material, which looks a little basic to me. I had wondered if the loop handle would get funny looks but I live in NY and took it to college when it was raining and the security person at the desk actually liked it. Different people notice different things I suppose ( maybe it's an unusual handle for an umbrella but I'm carrying it because it's wet outside, not trying to make a big thing of it..)
Charles Perez
This has made him happy.
My 2 year old wanted an umbrella of his own, like his older sister. This has made him happy. He holds the handle while I help, and I do the opening and closing for him. It is a proper full sized canopy, so not a tiny toddler umbrella, but that also means there is room to grow into it. The fabric and frame seem well put together and it has been fine through several uses. It has suited what we wanted.
Brandy Hickman
Glad I did!
I always went for the cheapest umbrella and didn't see much point spending more. When my last one gave up, I actually looked into something sturdier instead. Glad I did! It has handled the windy rainy days I've taken it out in far better than my old one. I'm short, so I worried about it being awkward to carry, but the weight has been perfectly manageable!
Kendra Villanueva
For now I'm pleased with the look and the way it opens.
An umbrella I once saw somebody carrying stuck in my mind because it looked almost like a piece of a painting. I wasn't after a copy of that particular design, more the feeling of having something a little different overhead. Then this Cream White one turned up while I was browsing, and I came back to it a few times before deciding on it! Still no rain here to give it a proper outing, so this is mostly from unpacking it and having a look. The outside is a lovely pale cream white, with black underneath rather than more of the same colour. Quite a contrast, but I like it. There's a sleeve for putting it away too. I spent longer looking at the handle than I expected; it's a closed oval loop, not the usual curved end. The button puts it up and brings the canopy down again; you still have to shorten the telescoping part yourself afterwards. All straightforward once I'd tried it. Somehow I had pictured the folded umbrella being a bit shorter, despite the dimensions being there to read. That's on me, I was paying more attention to how it looked! It isn't going into my smallest handbag, anyway. I'll use a bigger bag when I want to take it along, hardly a problem. For now I'm pleased with the look and the way it opens. Just waiting for the weather to let me use it properly.
Mary Jacobs
It also has a sleeve for tidying it away once dry.
Excellent everyday umbrella with useful details: a comfortable loop handle, flexible ribs, and a button that sends the canopy up or draws it shut. The pole needs a push to shorten it afterwards. It also has a sleeve for tidying it away once dry. Feels nicely made for the price, and mine arrived in good shape with everything working smoothly. A very satisfying purchase.
Kathleen Koch
It is a little smaller than I had pictured.
It is a little smaller than I had pictured. My previous automatic umbrella had a broader canopy, and I would have liked that extra room again. On the other hand, this is easier to carry and doesn't take up nearly as much space when folded. I've only taken it out once, with some rain and a bit of wind, and it did perfectly well. The shaft looks fairly slim to me, although nothing about using it gave me a problem. For ordinary showers I think the size is fine for one person. If you spend a long time walking in heavy, slanting rain, your trousers are still going to catch some of it. That is really my reservation rather than an issue with the mechanism. Overall I'm keeping it, because the convenient size matters too, but anyone wanting lots of extra coverage should bear the compact design in mind.
Stacie Conway
Much less awkward at the car door.
I've gone through plenty of umbrellas, and this one made a better impression straight out of the box. It feels properly put together rather than flimsy. Going between my car and shops all the time, I appreciate being able to open it and fold the canopy at the press of a button. Much less awkward at the car door. It feels steady overhead and hasn't turned over in the breezes I've used it in. I'm satisfied with it and would happily buy another.
Omar Ewing
I'll put up with a little extra bulk - the comfort is worth it.
I bought it in April and wanted to try it properly before commenting. The heat lately has given me the chance, and having that shade overhead is much nicer than standing in full sun. It's a substantial umbrella & not the tiniest thing to carry, but the frame and material seem good. I'll put up with a little extra bulk - the comfort is worth it.
Leon Jacobs
The finish looks good and it has been very practical in the rain.
The finish looks good and it has been very practical in the rain. Enough coverage for me, a steady grip, and it doesn't feel like a burden to carry. The frame has a lot of flexible ribs and feels properly supported. In normal breezy weather I've been able to keep it comfortably overhead. Opening is straightforward with the button. Putting it away takes a little more involvement: the button closes the canopy, then you compress the telescoping shaft yourself. That's the intended operation, I just prefer that last bit to take less effort. Once you know that, there isn't much to think about. For me that's a small inconvenience rather than a reason not to use it. Rain cover is the important part, and that has been good. Onward, rain or shine.
Lorraine Grant
VERY solid feeling and still cute...
MY last umbrella was a little smaller and i was quite attached to it. It came from a small shop i'm unlikely to visit again. I HAVE to like the look of what i carry, and this gray goes with pretty much everything. So far i've only had it out for shade while walking, not in wet weather, but i'm confident about it. VERY solid feeling and still cute...there's a proper quality to the fabric, not that flimsy feel i was trying to avoid.
Beth Morton
This one gets that balance right.
After two years of carrying this around so much, I'm getting another to have on hand. We walk everywhere here, so an umbrella can't just look nice sitting by the door. It has to fit in my work bag and still give me worthwhile coverage once I'm out in the rain. This one gets that balance right. It isn't so bulky that I leave it home, and pressing a button to open it is especially useful when I'm already carrying things.

Delivery was quick, and the pink is a nice shade in person.
Delivery was quick, and the pink is a nice shade in person. Everything looks neatly finished and feels sturdy. Anyone wanting something really lightweight might find it on the heavy side, but that doesn't bother me for occasional carrying. It gives a good amount of cover when opened as well.
Melinda Vaughan
Its a nice sturdy umbrella and feels real good quality.
I left ordering it kinda late and it still turned up sooner than I expected. Its a nice sturdy umbrella and feels real good quality. Looks lovely in beige too..I been taking it out when the sun is strong and having the shade makes being outside much nicer..People have said nice things about it when Im using it. Would definately recommend! Im thinking I might get a second one to keep handy.

For Christmas I got these for my grown up son and daughter.
For Christmas I got these for my grown up son and daughter. Both have city jobs and a walk between the station and the office, whatever the weather decides to do. They've found them handy so far, and the folded size means they can put them in their work bags rather than carry a long umbrella.
Ellen Foster
When some rain comes along we're already carrying what we need.
This is almost exactly what I had in mind for watching our daughter's soccer games. My wife tries to stay out of prolonged sunshine, and the dark underside makes it pleasantly shaded underneath. It's not just a rain umbrella that happens to be over your head, it feels useful on a bright day too. We can sit close and share it, though I prefer having one each, so I ended up buying a second. When some rain comes along we're already carrying what we need. A few people on the sidelines have asked about it, which doesn't surprise me because it is such a practical thing to bring. The construction feels good and the folding design is practical for taking to games. For how often we use them, I think they were well worth the money.
Michaela Austin
The shade was what really sold me on it.
Used this at the burn this year. The weather wasn't at its worst while I was there, but it got several outings when the wind picked up and kept its shape. The shade was what really sold me on it.And apparently everyone else, judging by the interest it got. Not an enormous canopy, just a very welcome bit of cover to take around.
Joy Howard
Mine came today and the first impression is good.
I chose this after seeing a lot of disappointing reviews for folding umbrellas. Mine came today and the first impression is good.Nice size when it's up, tidy when folded, and the button makes it spring open. IT ALSO COLLAPSES THE CANOPY-- you do still push the telescoping part down yourself, which is straightforward enough..No rain test yet, so this is just what I think from looking it over and trying it indoors. Tomorrow is meant to be wet, and I'll add more here if staying dry turns out to be an issue.
Victoria Banks
People have remarked on how nice it looks too.
I'm usually not bothered about an umbrella's appearance, but I liked the look of this one. It's lovely and I take it when walking my two shihtzus. People have remarked on how nice it looks too. Seems good quality for the money, and I'm glad I decided to get it.

Everything arrived in good shape and was packed properly.
Great buy. Doesn't have that bargain bin feel I was half expecting at the price. I paid less than it seems to be listed for now, so glad I ordered when I did. The handle sits nicely in my hand and the canopy materiel feels decent. Push the button and it opens right up, no wrestling with it. There is a carry sleeve too. That feels more basic than the umbrella itself but does its job, and when it's all tucked away it reminds me of a little ninja sword for some reason. Everything arrived in good shape and was packed properly. Nothing fancy to say really, it works and I'm happy I spent the money.

My mother collects umbrellas, so this was for her.
My mother collects umbrellas, so this was for her. Now she's hoping for a wet day just to take it out! She's quite taken with the unusual oval handle, which is different from the ones her friends carry. At 84 she managed opening it without any bother. Lovely to see her so delighted, and I'm tempted to have one myself

Arrived quickly as well
You notice the solid feel as soon as you pick this umbrella up — it doesn't feel flimsy. The opening action is smooth, and it's kept me dry on rainy walks without the canopy turning inside out in a gust. Black gives it a clean, understated look — nothing showy, which suits me. It seems well put together and is the sort of everyday thing I can see myself keeping for a long time. Arrived quickly as well

I bought a pair of these and am pleased with them so far.
I bought a pair of these and am pleased with them so far. We had some wind and rain at a soccer game and was impressed with how well ours kept their shape, especially looking around at some of the umbrellas other people were trying to hold onto. They gave good cover through the rain and I didn't feel as though I had to keep adjusting it every minute. You still need a firm hold when the gusts come across though, as the umbrella can pull at your hand and being a folding one doesn't mean it won't catch the wind. My only real disappointment is the overall coverage, I had pictured a little more room underneath and it is rather close if two people try to share. For one person it's a good size and folds down to carry easily, just not quite as large as I expected.
