My last cheap umbrella was useless once the wind picked up, so I spent a bit more on this one and it's been a different experience, the gusts haven't bothered it so far, there's good room underneath and the grip feels secure although the oval handle is a little small for my hand, rolling it neatly enough to get the sleeve back on takes some care, the sleeve is snug, but these are tiny annoyances compared with how well it works.

Jennifer Hubbard

good grip on that oval handle.

Well, lighter than I expected. Feels put together right..good grip on that oval handle. One button and it's OPEN. Comes with a plain sleeve, nothing fancy. Black outside, black underneath. I bought it mostly to get some shade and so far that's what I've used it for. Rain performance..can't really say yet, haven't had the chance. No point guessing. It's certainly nicer being under it than standing in direct sun. If it holds up like it feels it should..this could be my favorite umbrella yet.

Apparently I now have feelings about an umbrella (la la, who knew).

Apparently I now have feelings about an umbrella (la la, who knew). My old ones feel like playthings beside this one. Only gripe? It's a bit TOO much for the space I have, but I'm keeping it anyway. I'll still need something smaller sometimes, and somehow that doesn't bother me.

The oval handle slips over a hook in my closet, which is handy.

Being broad across the shoulders, I need more cover than some small umbrellas give. As a college student I also have a backpack to think about. This seems wide enough for what I need and looks classy in beige. The oval handle slips over a hook in my closet, which is handy. I LOVE the simple look!

A dependable umbrella for walking about town.

A dependable umbrella for walking about town. A press sends the canopy up, and another brings it down. The size suits walking along the pavement without feeling awkward. Feels sound when the weather gets breezy. The oval grip sits nicely in my hand and the sleeve goes on easily before I put it in my handbag. A keeper!

Seems a good quality umbrella overall.

Seems a good quality umbrella overall. The loop handle fits my average-sized hand comfortably, though someone with much bigger hands might find it less comfortable to hold. I looked over the canopy for little gaps and didn't find any. Opened out, it gives enough shelter for one person.

Not a toy umbrella, but lovely for us to use together.

My daughter's birthday gift was a hit - she's 3 and likes having an umbrella like the grown-ups. I work the button and fold it down afterwards, while she helps hold it. Not a toy umbrella, but lovely for us to use together. Seeing how excited she gets about it made it worth the $$.

It held its shape and I didn't have to struggle with opening it.

Just got back indoors after a very wet, windy spell and this umbrella kept me covered nicely. It held its shape and I didn't have to struggle with opening it. The canopy closes at a press too, then you shorten the shaft by hand.It goes in my purse, but I ought to explain that mine is a big tote style bag. This isn't one of those tiny umbrellas you can tuck into a small handbag and forget about. For a larger bag it's very convenient, and I'm happy to recommend it with that size warning.

Hadn't really thought about buying a better umbrella.

Hadn't really thought about buying a better umbrella. Usually went for the cheapest folding kind until I saw somebody using this one and decided to try it. What a difference! Its solid, feels strong in use and gives me plenty of cover without being difficult to carry. I've stayed dry and been happy reaching for it each time. I'd recommend spending a little extra for this sort of quality instead of keeping on buying cheap ones. Glad I gave it a chance.

Derek Drake

looks aren't everything when you're trying to stay dry.

i like the amount of cover, there's room for my bag as well as me. the black is practical but I hadn't realised how plain it would look in person. that is my only real gripe, something a little more interesting would have suited me better. i am keeping it because it seems useful and the frame feels sound. looks aren't everything when you're trying to stay dry.

At the moment I'm not fully convinced.

My second umbrella of this sort, and I've only used it a little so far. Compared with the one I've had for about six years, this feels less substantial. It opens properly and keeps rain off, but the frame doesn't have that same solid feel. Maybe the flexible ribs will prove themselves over time. At the moment I'm not fully convinced.

Marie Alvarado

It feels sturdy and she finds the opening button easy to use.

My daughter loves taking this umbrella out--I'm impressed with it as well, especially for the price. It feels sturdy and she finds the opening button easy to use. The closed loop gives her a comfortable place to hold on. It's been a really good everyday umbrella for her, and I'd certainly be happy buying the same one again.

A practical umbrella with a little style to it!

Gave one as a gift & it was a definite success. She said she'd wanted a folding umbrella like this for ages & was so happy to have it! I have one too & appreciate being able to pack it away instead of carrying a long stick around. Opened out it looks smart, not just something to grab reluctantly when it pours. Mine also comes along to sports games when the bleachers are sunny, since a bit of shade is welcome there. A practical umbrella with a little style to it!

This one has made her happy.

At 70, my mother has no patience for umbrellas that flip when the wind picks up. This one has made her happy. It's light enough for her and feels quite sturdy. Pink is also useful when I'm trying to find her in a crowd. We can share the cover if we stand close at outdoor soccer games, though we only do that where we aren't blocking anyone else's view.

Terrance Estrada

Oh, this is nice.

Oh, this is nice. I expected a folding umbrella to be heavier, but it is easy enough to carry! I don't want anything that folds in some unusual way. Here I just press to close the canopy and push the stem down. That's normal umbrella folding to me, which I prefer. I use one often so this was a good purchase.

Steve Huerta

Nice not having to carry it separately.

It goes in the tote I usually carry, alongside my e-reader, and there's still space for the other things I need! Nice not having to carry it separately. A shake takes off most of the drops, and the sleeve is useful once it's dry enough to pack away. Much less bother than carrying a loose wet umbrella around.

Levi Levine

Good solid umbrella.

Good solid umbrella. It has kept the rain off and hasn't turned itself inside out on windy days, unlike some I've owned. The only thing that takes a little effort is compressing the stem after the button closes the top. Otherwise I find it straightforward to use.

Pros: Packs down small, light to carry, lasting well, good shade.

Pros: Packs down small, light to carry, lasting well, good shade. Cons: Rather short handle. Several years of use now and I'm still taking it out for sunny days. Where I live the middle of the day gets very bright, and this makes a nice little shaded space to walk under. Mine is black. There isn't that feeling of the sunshine still coming straight through above my head. My one grumble is how high I have to keep my hand. It's more up near my chin than down at a relaxed height. Yes, you do notice it if you're out for a while. (I'll put up with that to have the shade, though.) I wouldn't describe it as flimsy. Mine gets taken out 2x most weeks and, after all this time, the fabric and frame are still holding up well. Perhaps the light feel makes it seem less substantial than it actually is. Being easy to carry is part of the attraction for me. It fits in my purse when folded, so I don't have to decide whether carrying it all day will be worth it. It has come in handy when the sunshine turned to rain too. Kept me dry, which is a useful extra for something I mainly use for shade.

Nice one to leave in my purse - doesn't take up much room or weigh it down! It's also stayed the right way round in gusty weather instead of turning inside out straight away. The pink is handy becuase I can spot mine among the umbrellas left by a restaurant entrance or at somebody's house.

Krista Moreno

This has been a great fit.

I needed an umbrella for getting to class in Ohio where the weather never seems to make up its mind. This has been a great fit. It goes in my backpack without a struggle and is straightforward to open and handle. Has done nicely in the wind so far and gives me enough cover without feeling oversized. For the price I'm impressed with how well it feels put together. Definitely one I'll be keeping around.

Kristine Farrell

Just the sort of umbrella I wanted and I would happily recommend it!

Looking through umbrella sizes for Golf, this one seemed a handy compromise between coverage and carrying it around. About 105cm across when open, and around 40cm once folded, so it isn't a huge golf umbrella but suits me well. It looks smart and the frame feels reassuringly strong. Just the sort of umbrella I wanted and I would happily recommend it!

Anthony Keith

Overall, it is a useful umbrella for one person in normal weather.

The Haven umbrella has a solid feel to its construction, and the flexible ribs seem to cope well with breezes. Opening by button is quite smooth, However, although the button shuts the canopy, the shaft still need pushing down manually. It is roughly 40cm folded, weighs about 390g and measures around 105cm across when open. That size and weight doesn't make it the handiest umbrella I have carried.Overall, it is a useful umbrella for one person in normal weather. The sturdy feeling frame is what I like most, it gives a little more confidence when a breeze picks up.

Glenda Ali

I'd just have preferred a little less weight to carry.

It got a few nice comments when I used it over the weekend, and I like the look of it myself. I'd just have preferred a little less weight to carry. Compared with the really light umbrellas I've owned it feels much more solid, so I'm hoping that extra weight turns out to be worth having.

Theresa Drake

My five year old is very fond of this one.

Got this in December and we're nearly into June now, still doing its job. That alone makes me happy after some pretty flimsy umbrellas we've had for the children. My five year old is very fond of this one. It gets carried about and played with as well as used in the rain, and it's held up nicely.

Connor Pennington

I'm ready to get another!

Used this for shade through the summer - the size suits me perfectly and it's been great! Getting the folds tidy takes a little patience, so sometimes I leave it out of my computer bag rather than pack it straight away. It has stood up to plenty of use though, much tougher than it appears. I'm ready to get another!

Cheyenne Gallegos

It's a small routine but much less fuss than arriving at work soaked.

I've had this umbrella for about eight years, after we were given it as a Christmas present, and it's still part of my daily walk to work. The walk is about a mile and a half each way, so a little shower is enough to make carrying one worthwhile. It covers me and keeps most of my backpack out of the rain as well.I walk between city buildings where the wind can suddenly change direction, and I try to keep the canopy facing into it rather than letting a gust get underneath. This isn't something I'd deliberately take out in a thunderstorm, but for the wet walks I do it has been a good companion. The button draws the canopy in, then I shorten the pole by hand before going inside. It's a small routine but much less fuss than arriving at work soaked. For something that folds up and comes along every day, I've been very satisfied!

Cassidy Mccormick

My previous one disappeared, so I was glad I could get another.

My previous one disappeared, so I was glad I could get another. Such a pretty pink for dull, rainy days. The button raises it and also brings the canopy together; after that I push the stem down myself and wrap it neatly. There isn't much to it once you've done it the first time.

Christian Knight

The umbrella has been working just as it should.

Make sure the fabric is free before pressing the button, as the umbrella opens out quite promptly. . . When putting it away, press again for the canopy, then shorten the telescoping shaft by hand until it is reset. The button isn't meant to pull that part in. The umbrella has been working just as it should.

Colton Hawkins

Surprisingly tough umbrella.

Surprisingly tough umbrella. Our three year old spends more time pretending with it indoors than taking it out in rain. One minute it's a magic wand, next it's a broom or something else she's dreamed up. It gets carried from room to room and doesn't exactly get gentle treatment. Still opens properly and has done a good job on rainy days too. A little bulky for her to manage, but so far it's stood up to plenty of play.

Barbara Beck

A brilliant little umbrella.

A brilliant little umbrella. i'm so impressed. it has the sturdy feel of the small one it replaces, only this one tucks away much more neatly. time will show how it lasts, but it seems solid when opened up and comfortable to carry folded. very glad i bought it!

Isabel Schroeder

This has been a great find, I'm enjoying using it.

This has been a great find, I'm enjoying using it. The oval loop makes it handy to carry, even though it's fairly substantial folded. Only one thing I'd alter- make that handle a little less bulky. Trying to fit it into my bag with everything else is sometimes a fiddle...gets on my nerves.

Jacqueline Moss

A little less pulling would be nice.

It's a decent size once open, and mine has already outlasted several umbrellas I've carried over the last few years. The wind round here seems to find every gap between buildings, usually just as I'm trying to get somewhere without looking completely soaked. This one has coped with those walks rather well so far.The catch is that a gust still gives your arm a pretty good tug. I'm fairly tall and not exactly lightweight, so it's manageable, but someone smaller might feel as though the umbrella is taking them for a walk. Better than having it fold over my head, certainly, though an umbrella that keeps its shape doesn't make the wind disappear. A little less pulling would be nice.

Renee Vaughn

Solid, not too heavy, decent materials, very practical.

Solid, not too heavy, decent materials, very practical. The button sends it straight up into its open position, without me having to fiddle with the canopy. I've carried it --a lot-- during this wet week and it has done a good job of sheltering me. The frame gives me confidence rather than feeling flimsy. Coming inside, another press brings the canopy in, which is handy when you're standing at a doorway. It doesn't shorten the whole umbrella for you though, you still push the telescoping section down yourself until it catches. I make sure that's done before putting it away. Once I understood that sequence it all felt straightforward to me.No wrestling with wet fabric to get it shut. After resetting it, the next press opens it ready to use again.

For the money I'm happy with it.

For the money I'm happy with it. The size suits me, it keeps the rain off and feels sturdy, and the cream white is nice and plain. The handle does have a smell, but I only really notice with it right under my nose, not across the room. It leaves a little odor on my hands that washes away easily. I expect that new rubber sort of smell to fade with time.

Donna Peters

A lot of confusion over something meant to keep the rain off.

There was a whole campus security scare over a folded umbrella carried behind a backpack, with just the handle showing above the shoulder. People thought they had seen a weapon and reported it. What followed was a search involving police on the ground and helicopters overhead, while the university and nearby schools were put into lockdown. This went on for hours before the person was located and the supposedly dangerous object turned out to be an umbrella. He'd had it since earlier in the year and hadn't had any trouble carrying it before then. A lot of confusion over something meant to keep the rain off. The part that stuck with me was that, after all that, he still said it was a good umbrella and worth what he'd paid.

Phillip Chang

My previous umbrella gave me years of use before I lost it, so I…

My previous umbrella gave me years of use before I lost it, so I wanted another that struck the same balance. This one is compact enough to slip into my laptop bag without being uselessly small once opened. There is comfortably enough coverage for me, and a companion can squeeze in as well when necessary. A sensible compromise if you don't want to carry a full-length umbrella around.

Ellen Frey

Back for another after losing my first one.

Back for another after losing my first one. I used that umbrella all the time, so getting the same again was an easy decision. The loop is handy when carrying it and the whole thing feels properly made. Been out in some wet, windy weather with this one already and it's done exactly what I needed.

Frances Simon

My mother teaches music and I bought her this umbrella for Christmas.

My mother teaches music and I bought her this umbrella for Christmas. She has to do "bus duty" every week, often in the rain, and what use is a pretty umbrella if it doesn't keep her dry?! This one has been doing both jobs nicely. She likes how it looks and says it feels a lot sturdier than the umbrellas she used to pick up. It has already had plenty of outings and is still going strong. A successful present!

Roberta White

Folds away nicely.

Got umbrellas for the three grandchildren, all still under four, and now rain is a reason to ask to go out. They were out enjoying them for ages yesterday, with us watching. This pink one was for the little one who likes everything girly and she struts around with it. I help with the button but she likes holding it herself, and there's enough cover for me to borrow it too. Folds away nicely.Update: Nineteen months later it's still in good shape, despite coming out whenever the weather turns wet.

Sylvia Davis

Not just cute, it has a nice solid feel to it too.

Adorable umbrella and it seems much more carefully made than a lot of the kids' ones we've had. I'd recommend it on that basis alone. Not just cute, it has a nice solid feel to it too. We sent it to our nephew as a present and had a photo back almost at once. He was sooooo excited about his umbrella! Always lovely when something you send goes down that well!

Kelli Joseph

The gray has a nice clean look.

The gray has a nice clean look. button opening is handy when one hand is busy, and another press draws the canopy closed. flexible ribs feel sturdy, rain shakes off the fabric easily. handle sits comfortably in my hand and the open size is useful. folds down neatly for carrying, also pleasant to use as a little sun shade!

Omar Harrell

Great umbrella, the blue is lovely and the opening button is so handy!

Great umbrella, the blue is lovely and the opening button is so handy! Pressing it again folds the canopy, but you do still have to shorten the stem yourself, my only little gripe. Plenty of cover when it's just me underneath, though I wouldn't count on keeping two people dry.

Cheryl Marshall

was a bit worried by comments about rain coming through.

i looked around for ages trying to get a decent umbrella without paying too much. was a bit worried by comments about rain coming through. tried it yesterday and 1-there was good cover around me (u dont have to scrunch up under it) and 2-my cloths stayed DRY. thats what i needed and i reckon i made a good choice.

Kimberly Francis

what a cracking umbrella for the money, opens up nice and quick and the whole thing has a solid feel to it, I was expecting something much more ordinary so this was a pleasant surprise, easy button and a comfortable handle makes it simple to use and i would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a good everyday umbrella!!

Marco Bailey

Happy with my choice.

It's been a while since I kept an umbrella around, then I came across this while browsing and decided I wanted it. My wife says I always pick pale colours for things, and looking at this cream white one she probably has a point. I wasn't after anything fancy, just something that looked nice and would be there when it rained. Had it out of the sleeve this morning for a look and everything seems tidy. The folded length is about 40cm, which seems a sensible compromise between something tiny and a full length umbrella. Opened up it gives me room without feeling ridiculous to hold. I like the closed oval handle too, a little different but comfortable in my hand. For rain cover and a little shade when needed, I think this will suit me nicely. Happy with my choice.

Miguel Osborne

After using it I actually prefer it.

I lost my favourite automatic umbrella on a family holiday and wanted another that worked much the same way. This one looked like a sensible replacement. When it arrived I wasn't sure about the closed oval handle because it was different from what I was used to, and I spent a bit of time looking it over. After using it I actually prefer it. It opens at a press and the same button shuts the canopy, with a push on the shaft afterwards to pack it away. Mostly it gives me the familiar convenience I wanted, just with a different grip. I find the loop comfortable to hold and can keep a good hold on it when the wind picks up.

Chelsea Pollard

I now carry it separately instead.

Rain in Chicago usually comes with some wind, so a flimsy umbrella isn't much use to me. This one has coped well on the rainy days I've carried it and the frame feels sturdy. The folded length is my main reservation. I expected something that would tuck right into my work bag, but it sticks out farther than I'd like. I now carry it separately instead. Good protection, just not quite as convenient for my bag as I had hoped.

Since moving to Tampa I've learned to keep an umbrella handy..

Since moving to Tampa I've learned to keep an umbrella handy..I'm soo glad I picked this one..the handle is comfortable in my hand and I don't mind carrying it..gives me good cover when it rains and welcome shade from that fierce sun..the button opening saves me fussing about getting it up too..wouldn't want to be without it now, this one is a KEEPER..

Dan Knight

This one slips into my bag and opens out to a useful size.

Work means carrying equipment on the train and subway, so I try not to add anything bulky to the load. I wanted an umbrella that folded away rather than another long thing to keep hold of. This one slips into my bag and opens out to a useful size. It isn't one of those almost weightless little umbrellas -- about 390g -- but for me that is manageable. I've already shown it to people because I like how neatly it packs. Haven't actually USED it in rain yet, so this is about the feel and convenience for now. I wouldn't expect miracles in serious wind from a compact umbrella anyway. The blue is beautiful -- easy to spot among my things -- but having something I can actually carry with all the work gear was the main thing.

Tanner Khan

There is a good amount of cover when it's open.

This feels like a carefully made umbrella The loop handle is solid and sits comfortably in my hand.. There is a good amount of cover when it's open. I wouldn't want to thread through a crowded pavement with it low over my head, but for walking my dog round the neighborhood it is just right. That's what I bought it for, rather than squeezing past lots of people. The button is useful when the rain starts and I want it open quickly. It also brings the canopy closed, with the final shortening done by pressing the shaft together. My one little criticism is that getting everything neatly into the sleeve needs a moment of care. Not really a problem. If I fold the fabric tidily first it slides in much more easily. Once packed, it is convenient to take along. Overall I am happy with the feel and the coverage, and I would certainly be willing to buy another.
