Fair skin and a subtropical climate mean I want shade whenever I'm walking outside, so this gets carried most days. It isn't the tiniest folded umbrella, but the coverage is worth making room for. The canopy gives me a comfortable patch of shade and has kept the rain off too. It feels substantial without being a burden to carry around. I still pay attention to the wind. A normal breeze hasn't bothered it, but I wouldn't expect a handheld umbrella to be pleasant between tall buildings with gusts coming at you from every direction. That's when I'd rather wear something for the rain and keep the umbrella put away. The harder part for me is not leaving it somewhere. I've had umbrellas disappear after setting them down and looking away, so the loop handle is handy for keeping this close to my bag. My previous two stayed with me roughly six months each before going missing, which means I can't offer much of a long term verdict. For daily shade and ordinary showers this has been excellent. Now I just have to keep track of it!

Our little boy is so fond of his umbrella.
Our little boy is so fond of his umbrella. It has coped with the usual handling from a three year old surprisingly well! The pink is bright and cheerful and the whole thing seems nicely put together. I like having a button for putting the canopy up or folding it back in. He can manage that with me there, then I push the pole down for him before we put it away.

He is pleased with how it works and how neatly it packs away.
The blue is attractive and makes ours easier to pick out when everyone else has a dark umbrella. The button action is smooth and there's a comfortable amount of cover for one adult and a bag. This was a Christmas gift for my engineer husband, who enjoys the practical details. He is pleased with how it works and how neatly it packs away.

Our son chose this umbrella as a gift for my wife.
Our son chose this umbrella as a gift for my wife. At the price I wasn't expecting much in the way of quality, but I was wrong about that. Feels properly made. We've had enough rainy weather this year for her to use it often and she's pleased with it. People have also commented on how nice it looks. Money well spent.

I LOVE having enough cover at last!
I LOVE having enough cover at last! I'm a larger lady, and umbrellas have usually left some bit of me sticking out in the rain. Not even sideways rain, just rain coming DOWN! I've tried ones that looked big enough before, only to find my shoulders were still getting soaked. Then I'd pass somebody carrying an enormous umbrella and think, how come they have all that space when I'm the one who needs it! So yes, I was crossing my fingers a little with this purchase. It actually gives me the coverage I was after! My sister can tuck in alongside me as well, provided we stay close, which is a lovely change from me struggling to cover just myself. The whole thing seems solid and nicely put together. Yet carrying it doesn't feel like hauling some great heavy thing about, considering how substantial it looks open. It got its first proper outing only two days after arriving, when we had some very heavy rain here. What a good test that was! I came back much drier than I was used to, and it handled the rain beautifully. For a little drizzle I probably won't bother getting it out unless I'm going to be walking a while. But when the rain really starts, this is the one I'll be reaching for. Just delighted with it!

A lovely gift that will actually get used!
This was a thank you for a neighbor who helped me during an emergency. Pink is her favorite, and those sudden central Florida showers make an umbrella useful. The pink canopy is BEAUTIFUL! It looks more expensive than it was. She was delighted with it. Opens quickly and the button folds the canopy away. A lovely gift that will actually get used!

A present for my granddaughter.
A present for my granddaughter. She'd had her old favourite for nearly five years, and when she wanted another I ordered her the beige one. She loves it and says people keep complimenting it. Button opening and canopy closing is really handy, she is pleased with that too.

Frame feels solid, keeps the rain off.
Room for me and someone willing to stand close (not a spacious arrangement for two), and it fits in my medium handbag, though not with much space to spare. The loop handle is comfortable and the opening is smooth. Frame feels solid, keeps the rain off. I've had no turning inside out, but do angle it into gusts. Already recommended it to a friend.

This is my third one now.
This is my third one now. The first got left in a taxi after keeping me dry through some very wet days in Puerto Rico. The next went missing somewhere along my regular public transport commute, and it had been just as useful. I'm hoping this one stays with me a little longer. If I lose it too, I know what I'll be buying again!

I'm not a small woman and the coverage works well for me.
Very good umbrellas for what they cost. They feel properly made. Tried one yesterday in rain with a fair bit of wind and came back impressed - it kept its shape and gave me plenty of shelter. Felt like having my own little dry patch following me around. I'm not a small woman and the coverage works well for me. Happy to have it for the wet winters up here in the NW. Would recommend.

I settled on a useful umbrella instead.
My boyfriend has always fancied owning a real sword, which isn't happening on my budget. Since he's moved somewhere with so much rain...I settled on a useful umbrella instead. Not the same sort of present at all, obviously, but he really liked it and has something he actually needs!
Alexa Bishop
Plenty of handling and they still looked good afterwards.
We needed four umbrellas for a wedding with a very particular colour scheme, and gray worked well. They felt solid and got passed around constantly-not because it rained, but for photographs, decoration, all that sort of thing. Plenty of handling and they still looked good afterwards. Sensible price for something that turned out to be so popular. They were a HIT!
Rodney Pruitt
All told, a nice looking umbrella and money well spent.
An understated black umbrella that makes a wet day a little less dreary! I already own several folding ones, but wanted something with a smarter look for a change. I had a showier design in mind to start with... but the plain black has really grown on me. The canopy fabric feels substantial and the included sleeve is useful for putting it away. All told, a nice looking umbrella and money well spent.

Good coverage...
Wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered these. For the price I thought, "Are they actually going to be any good?" Turns out they're very nice. The buttons work smoothly, they aren't a chore to carry, and they've already kept us dry through a proper rainy, windy afternoon. Good coverage...two adults can huddle underneath. A much better purchase than I expected.

My little boy is delighted with this umbrella.
My little boy is delighted with this umbrella. It suits his size and he can open and fold the canopy himself with the button. He's already waiting for rain to take it outside again. Seems fairly sturdy, though I don't give him unlimited playtime with it, nothing stays toddler-proof for long..

The finish is lovely as well.
I recieved this two days ago for my wife, who is usually unhappy with flimsy umbrellas and ones that are awkward to shut. She really likes this one. The button to open it and close the canopy makes things much simpler. The finish is lovely as well. Two small reservations from her though. Once the canopy is closed, you do still need to push the pole down into the handle, which needs a bit of effort. And there's the weight, a little more than she expected but not so much that it bothers her. Taken altogether, she's delighted with it, and it seems a strong, nicely made umbrella to me.
Kerri George
At first I thought it was rather weighty for a compact umbrella.
At first I thought it was rather weighty for a compact umbrella. It feels more like something I would deliberately take on a rainy day than an emergency one to forget in the bottom of my bag. That substantial feel also makes it seem steady when it is up. The open canopy gives me a comfortable amount of room, although I wouldn't call it a roomy umbrella for two adults. Folded away it is quite manageable. A very useful purchase!
Raven Ponce
Lovely little umbrella, he is very pleased.
Once I'd bought an umbrella for one grandson, I knew the others would be wanting theirs too. I picked this one for my youngest grandson so he could have his own as well. He was delighted opening the package and wanted to have a go with it. Lovely little umbrella, he is very pleased.

I spent ages deciding which umbrella to get, this was worth it.
My umbrella has arrived and I am quite Impressed with how nicely it is put together. The design is simple but very attractive. I haven't purchased one like this before and I am pleased with my choice.I spent ages deciding which umbrella to get, this was worth it.

The button is easy to find.
I ordered two of these in Pink to leave in the car. I had spent rather too long trying to find an umbrella that sounded as though it could withstand absolutely anything. Eventually it occurred to me that, in weather bad enough to make that necessary, I would be looking for somewhere indoors rather than admiring how well my umbrella was doing. Rain coming at an angle is going to find your trousers anyway. So I went back to looking for something practical for normal use, and settled on these.
My first impression was that the appearance was nicer than I expected. Pink isn't the traditional umbrella choice, but I do like it, and the black underneath gives it a more restrained appearance when you are standing under it. The handle took a moment to get used to, simply because it is a closed oval rather than the curved sort I have had before. There is a definite place for your fingers, which I prefer to holding onto a narrow straight end. The button is easy to find. It doesn't need to be a decorative feature as far as I'm concerned; being able to operate it without hunting around is more important.
The included sleeve is useful since these will be sharing the car with whatever else I put in there. My two reservations are fairly ordinary ones. Although it folds down, it isn't something I would describe as tiny, so anyone expecting a little umbrella to disappear into a small bag should bear that in mind. Also, I had taken automatic closing to mean the whole thing would shorten itself. The button folds the canopy, but you still push the shaft back down yourself. Once I understood that, it was straightforward, just not quite what I had pictured from the description.
Neither point would stop me ordering another. For everyday rain I am satisfied with the choice, and it is presentable enough that I would consider giving one as a gift...provided the person wanted Pink.

Dries surprisingly fast too (really).
My husband has an exposed walk into his office in the midwest, with open ground all round, so his umbrella gets a proper test. It's been excellent at keeping him dry, and there's just room for me to tuck in beside him. Dries surprisingly fast too (really). The oval loop is comfortable to hold and goes over his coat hook at work. A press gets the canopy open, another folds it in; you push the shaft down by hand afterwards. He isn't standing around getting wet trying to find a little catch, which is a useful part of it. it's smart looking, too, and folds into a fairly tidy shape for keeping at the office. Lots of ribs supporting the canopy, and it hasn't turned inside out on that exposed walk. Would happily have another in the house - terrific.

We get plenty of wind along with the rain here.
We get plenty of wind along with the rain here. An umbrella has to be sturdy. This is. Does its job. Doesn't take up much space folded either. Guys aren't interested in carrying an "umbrella" till they need one. This is small enough to tuck away. Comfortable in my hand. Has a solid feel to it. I reckon those flexible ribs help. A bit of flex is good. Good firm loop handle. I don't get that feeling a gust is about to pull it away.....and there's no shortage of gusts here. Goes in the car or a large raincoat pocket. No complaints.
Toni Roy
clearly they aren't interested in practical rain cover.
Got this for my girlfriend's birthday and she was delighted. I probably spent longer admiring that odd oval handle than a grown person should, i don't generally get excited about umbrella handles. It arrived looking smart and ready to give, which left me with one very pleased girlfriend. No luck impressing the imaginary zombies though... clearly they aren't interested in practical rain cover. So there is still that problem. For its actual job, she likes it and i'm happy with it.

Bought it for its looks, then found it feels much better made than I'd expected! The oval handle is comfortable even with my tiny hands, and the whole thing folds away neatly. It looks quite dainty when I'm carrying it but has given me good cover from rain and a bit of shade on sunny days.
Jeffrey Stout
A useful backup to have ready.
These were bought as a JUST IN CASE for the photos at my daughter's wedding. We ended up with sunshine, which was certainly better for the couple! They're smart enough to have looked nice in the pictures, and there was room for two to stand close together underneath. We didn't get to test them in wedding day rain, but I was pleased with how they looked and opened when we checked them beforehand. A useful backup to have ready.

Worth while getting something you actually want to use.
You can keep spending on cheap stuff that just about gets you through or pay a little more and have something decent. I went for decent this time and don't regret it. Feels properly put together, gives me room underneath and hasn't been troublesome in a breeze. Worth while getting something you actually want to use.

This feels substantial and the button opening is handy.
After my old umbrella struggled in windy weather, I wanted a sturdier feeling replacement. This feels substantial and the button opening is handy. Haven't tried it in proper rain yet, but first impressions are encouraging. I also like how little space it takes up folded!
Alexandra Guzman
The general reaction seems to be, "Oh, an umbrella.
Once in a while another student looks at the folded umbrella as though they're trying to work it out. I open it and that usually settles things. They seem to like it after that. Someone even wondered if campus security would ask about it, but I go past their office regularly and nothing. The general reaction seems to be, "Oh, an umbrella. Right then"

I had an automatic umbrella that I liked a lot but lost it while away with the family. I chose this as the replacement and at first I wasn't sure about the handle because it was different from what I was used to. After using it for a while I think I like this one a little more. The oval loop is comfortable and I can hold it securely when there's a bit of wind, which was the thing I cared about most. It opens with the button and another press brings in the canopy, I then push the pole down to put it away. Most of what I liked about the old umbrella is there but the grip suits me better on this one.

sharing would mean getting very friendly!
This makes a handy umbrella to keep in the car, though I do think it's expensive for what it is. The cover is really for one person; sharing would mean getting very friendly! Mine sits neatly in the pocket by the passenger door, which is where I wanted it. Construction feels sound and it doesn't give me the impression it'll fall apart at the first breeze. The parcel was sent off promptly but then took NINE days to reach me. I ordered a couple of weeks before Christmas, so I suspect the holiday post had more to do with that than the sender. It got here two days after I'd hoped to have it. If you need it by a certain day, I would give yourself a little extra time.

It has behaved well in the wind I've encountered.
I had an umbrella like this before and was really upset when I left it in a cab. After making do with a little flimsy one for a while, I decided to replace it properly. This is much more comfortable to stand under on my own, and I can squeeze someone smaller alongside me if we need to share, although neither of us gets much spare room. Folded up it goes into the outside compartment of my carry-on, which is useful as I travel for business quite often. It isn't the smallest folding umbrella and I notice the weight more than with the little one, but the sturdier feel makes that a fair trade. It has behaved well in the wind I've encountered. A sensible choice for regular travelling.

This got me through a wet, breezy outing and felt solid throughout.
This got me through a wet, breezy outing and felt solid throughout. That said, it's not the tiniest or lightest thing in a bag, so if your after something you won't notice carrying, maybe look smaller. For me there's enough cover for a grown man and his backpack, and the more substantial feel is exactly what I wanted.

:)
I ended up being much happier with this umbrella than I expected, partly because of how patiently my question was answered. I had misunderstood what the button did and thought the whole umbrella would pull itself down. It doesn't do that, it shuts the canopy and then you compress the telescoping shaft yourself. The seller explained it politely instead of making me feel silly for asking. (I had been thinking of exchanging it, but once I understood I really didn't want to! ) It feels strong and has been useful in the windy rain here in San Francisco, where having an umbrella that isn't flimsy makes quite a difference. I appreciate getting a straightforward answer and finding that the umbrella itself is good too. All in all, a handy thing to have and a purchase I'm glad I made! :)

A practical construction and I would certainly recommend it.
A very nicely built folding umbrella, in cream white, attractive and with a solid feel. There are 30 flexible ribs supporting the canopy, which looks reassuring when it is opened out. The fabric also feels decent rather than thin and flimsy. A practical construction and I would certainly recommend it.

I like it enough that it comes along on every workday!
I like it enough that it comes along on every workday! The pink looks good, it keeps me dry, and there's enough room over my bag without the folded umbrella taking over my backpack. Nine years of walking to work makes you appreciate that sort of thing. The button drops the canopy as well as opening it, which is especially useful at the office door. You do still need to push the telescoping stem back down afterwards -- not the same as it magically shrinking itself, but that's fine with me IMO.
Chris Turner
The black colour is nice and even, quite smart.
Everything is in order. The black colour is nice and even, quite smart. Underneath is black as well. There are a lot of ribs, the fabric is held neatly. Both opening and closing the canopy by button work correctly. Delivery took about two weeks, which seemed quick enough to me.
Brandi Hill
The outside has a lovely colour against the black underside.
I chose the blue for my youngest to keep the sun off her, and it is VERY pretty. The outside has a lovely colour against the black underside. It ALSO has a sleeve for putting it away. You use the button to draw in the canopy, THEN press the shaft down by hand before you put it away. It costs a bit more than I planned to spend on an umbrella, but she likes it and it is tidy to carry, so I don't feel bad about the price.

The canopy material feels unlike the ones I've had before, so I'm interested to see it in proper rain. Operating the button is straightforward, which should make getting on the bus less of a bother. All those ribs give it a reassuring feel as well, and I expect it to cope with a bit of wind.

The sleeve is the bit I appreciate most with this umbrella.
The sleeve is the bit I appreciate most with this umbrella. it's usually a struggle getting a used umbrella folded up tidy again. This one rolls up neatly and slips into its cover without leaving a big bundle to carry. A practical little thing to have along when travelling.

The funniest use wasn't in rain at all.
My son keeps asking to take this umbrella whenever we go walking, and wants it over him in the stroller too. It's a bit bulky for him to carry folded, but he's very attached to it. I like the closed loop handle and the simple button opening. The funniest use wasn't in rain at all. A classmate wouldn't smile for the class photos, so I stood behind the photographer and slowly twirled the open umbrella. He watched it, started grinning, and we got the picture. Never thought an umbrella would end up helping with school portraits!
Angela Mcclure
I like the plain styling/oval handle.
Good purchase. I like the plain styling/oval handle. The handle is actually a closed loop, not the open hook I thought I saw when looking at the picture. There is a little gate in it so you can clip it onto a bag. Which is the useful bit - it is a LOOP you can clip shut around a strap.Very nice.

For trips where rain and wind are likely, I'd rather pack this than another flimsy bargain umbrella. There's a bit more weight and expense, but I find it a fair trade for something that actually gives decent shelter.Don't save a little only to have nothing useful when the weather changes.

Umbrellas and I don't get along.
Umbrellas and I don't get along. In Manhattan rain they feel like one more thing to manoeuvre around people, and whenever I find one I don't mind carrying, I manage to leave it somewhere. Typical.
Before a visit to my wife's family in France, she warned me we should expect wet weather. I wanted something small enough for my carry-on, with enough coverage that we could share if needed. This packed away neatly without taking over the luggage.
Paris greeted us with rain, naturally. We'd arrived by train from Marseille, still a bit jet-lagged and very ready for dinner. The hotel wasn't serving food to the rooms that evening, so we took the umbrella and headed out. Not the moment when you want to discover you've brought something useless.
It actually sheltered us really well. We stayed close together, but we weren't getting soaked while trying to find somewhere to eat, which improved my mood considerably. The button-operated closing was the bit that surprised me most. I'd never had that on an umbrella before and found it genuinely useful going indoors. It gathers the canopy in; you then push the telescoping stem back into its compact position yourself. Nothing complicated. Having the sleeve to put it away in was handy too, rather than leaving it loose with everything else.
And yes, once we were back in New York, I lost it. Apparently liking an umbrella doesn't make me any better at keeping track of one. I'm getting another, though, because for once I found one I was happy to take out with me. Definitely worth replacing!!!

Then the sunshine arrived over the weekend and what a difference!!!!
We packed this for the three day race event in Austin, thinking late April would mean sitting in plenty of heat. As it turned out it was cooler than we expected and there was wind on one of the days too. Then the sunshine arrived over the weekend and what a difference!!!! Sitting under the umbrella was so much more comfortable than having the sun right on us the whole afternoon. Not saying it changed the weather, just a very welcome bit of shade when you needed it. There were people close behind us, so we had to be a little thoughtful about how we held it and not block everybody's view. so it wasn't something we could leave up at every moment in a crowd. Away from that issue it did the job we brought it for, GAVE US SOME SHADE when there wasn't much to be had. Glad we took it along and it will definately come out with us again.

A nice-looking umbrella matters to me.
A nice-looking umbrella matters to me. There's enough cover for the walk between the station and work, without feeling as though I'm barging down the pavement with something enormous. One push and it's open - handy when I'm already carrying things - and the whole thing feels well put together.

She love the blue and says the loop handle looks stylish.
I chose this for my mother at Christmas after her previous umbrella let her down in a really nasty shower. She loves this one. She love the blue and says the loop handle looks stylish. She's been telling people to try it, which is quite a recommendation after the soaking she got from the old umbrella over the holiday season.

This is the compact folding model.
This is the compact folding model. It is about 40cm long when closed, roughly 105cm across when open and weighs around 390g. The 30 flexible ribs appear to have some give rather than being completely rigid. I like how it feels in use. The button raises the canopy and also collapses it, but resetting the telescoping shaft afterwards is a manual job. Worth knowing how that part works before using it
Regina Pope
Neat umbrella design.
Neat umbrella design. It folds down to a manageable size and the button handles opening as well as closing the canopy. Too early for me to judge how long it'll last, but so far it feels sturdy. Comes with a sleeve too. My niggle is getting the fabric wrapped neatly enough to slide it back inside, mine always ends up looking a little untidy. The loop handle is handy once you're used to holding it. Had to take a moment to work out the closing routine, canopy first and then compress the stem yourself. Not difficult, just different. Lol

The construction is better than I expected from a folding umbrella.
The construction is better than I expected from a folding umbrella. Everything seems neatly finished, and I am hoping this means a few years of *not* replacing umbrellas because the frame has given up.Also worth mentioning: the sleeve is included, so there was no need to look for one separately. It is a fairly substantial compact umbrella rather than a tiny, flimsy one, which suits me very well.

Such a lovely thing to receive!!!
This was a gift, and I absolutely adore it. The simple look is gorgeous and the oval handle is a lovely little detail. It feels light to carry without seeming flimsy, and the button makes opening it so easy. There's a really useful amount of space underneath when it's open. Such a lovely thing to receive!!!
