About a month back I managed to leave my umbrella somewhere it wasn't likely to stay. Somebody got lucky, I suppose. I liked it enough to order another. It's a sensible size for carrying to work and has coped well with wind, although rain coming at you sideways can still get you wet. No umbrella is going to fix that. Apart from my own ability to lose things, I'm very satisfied!

The umbrella arrived in good order and the fabric has a nice finish.
The umbrella arrived in good order and the fabric has a nice finish. It comes with a carry sleeve which keeps it together neatly in my backpack. The button is simple to use for opening and folding the canopy. I let it dry before putting it back in the sleeve, rather than packing it away wet. Very satisfied with how practical it is. I would happily recommend it to other people.

Was waiting for some rain to give it a go outside.
A mid sized folding umbrella, easy enough to carry and it goes in my normal backpack. Was waiting for some rain to give it a go outside. Only had the one chance yet luckily it did what was expected. Nothing exciting, but how exciting does an umbrella need to be anyways? :)

I'm very happy with the quality.
This compact umbrella takes up little room in a backpack or a larger handbag, yet the coverage feels like a regular umbrella once it's up. Mine has had a few years of rainy use and still feels solid. There is a button to open it and to collapse the canopy; you then shorten the shaft yourself. Folded, it measures about 40cm, so compact doesn't mean one of those tiny pocket models. I appreciate the attention to the stitching, the flexible frame and the way the sections fit together. Nothing about it feels carelessly finished. In short, it is a useful, durable, *portable* umbrella rather than a novelty. I'm very happy with the quality. An easy recommendation!

Mine has been through rainy trips in Chicago and New York and is still doing well. I fly every week, so it gets knocked about in transit rather than treated carefully. While colleagues seem forever fussing with their umbrellas, I've been able to carry on using this one.

On the whole I've liked using this umbrella.
On the whole I've liked using this umbrella. It has stayed the right way round when the wind catches it. After a little over a year of very occasional outings (California hasn't exactly been awash with rain!), it still feels solid. My hesitation is the size when packed.I expected something a little less noticeable in my bag, and the weight adds up with everything else in there. It's a trade off for having a sturdy umbrella, I suppose. Glad I have it, but I'd probably compare folded sizes more carefully if I were choosing again.

So this Haven seemed worth trying.
For a long time I had two umbrellas that covered pretty much everything, a large golf one and a little folding one. The big one is still around. It isn't particularly handsome, but it has lasted and there is a lot of material over your head. On a windy day that also means a fair amount to hang on to. The smaller one was much easier to take along, and being able to pop it open was something I missed after it was gone. I once lent that one to a friend who was out without much protection, while I had a coat and hat. He was reluctant to borrow an umbrella, until the rain picked up, then it was suddenly quite useful! It is funny what you remember about something as ordinary as an umbrella, but I had used both of those for years.
The golf one usually stays in the car, and the occasional small cheap umbrella in a drawer never really filled the gap. So this Haven seemed worth trying. The first thing I appreciated was being able to reach it out through the driver's door and open it with the button, before climbing out into the rain. That is much less of a scramble. Open, it gives me a useful amount of coverage. It doesn't replace the golf umbrella for sheer size, but there is more room underneath than with the little folding ones I remember, which is a reasonable trade.
The next thing I looked at was the framework. As an engineer I am probably more inclined than most people to turn an umbrella over and look at what is holding it together. There are 30 ribs on this one, and the spread of support under the fabric is interesting to see. The ribs have some give to them, rather than everything feeling rigid. In the wind I've had so far it has been reasonably manageable. I still hold it properly and point it into the weather, but it doesn't pull at my arm like the big golf umbrella.
The less good part is getting it neatly packed again. I close the canopy with the button, push the telescoping section in, then wrap the material around it. That part is straightforward enough, but getting it into the sleeve takes a bit of care. There isn't much spare room if the fabric hasn't been wound fairly neatly. Not a serious fault, and I would rather have a sleeve than no sleeve, but a little more room there would make the job easier, particularly when I'm trying to put everything away in the car.
It is also compact in the sense that it folds, not in the sense that it disappears into any little space. My glove compartment won't accommodate it as conveniently as the old small one, so it ends up behind the seat. That makes it a touch less handy, although it is still much easier to take with me than the golf umbrella. You get the larger canopy when it's open, and you have to allow for some of that when it is closed.
Overall I am happy with it. The blue is quite presentable, not something I would feel odd carrying to work or just out doing errands. I can't speak for years of use yet, which is the real test for me, but the opening, coverage and general feel have all been good. A slightly easier sleeve and smaller folded package would improve it. As an everyday replacement for my old compact, though, it makes good sense.

For just me the coverage is good.
The umbrella I had before this lost its fight with the wind...during a trip...while I was standing under it. Not my favourite moment. My family already thinks it's funny that I am always the one who brings an umbrella, but somehow they still want to share it when it rains. So yes, I actually sat and researched umbrellas before choosing this one. I didn't want a giant one to lug around, but I didn't want one of the tiny ones either. This feels like a sensible middle ground. Two of us can squeeze under for a short dash, though it's certainly closer company than having one each. For just me the coverage is good. It opens without a struggle and isn't tiring to carry. I had wondered about the loop handle after reading comments about handles generally. For me it sits comfortably enough and doesn't need to be anything fancy. The frame feels substantial without making the whole thing a burden. As for weather, I live somewhere breezy and so far it has behaved fine on the rainy days I've used it. I'm keeping it.

Makes getting about much nicer.
Living on the Oregon coast, I probably sound a bit overenthusiastic about an umbrella, but we get plenty of rain here! We don't take it out when the wind gets really wild, and are fairly careful with it. For the usual wet days it gives the two of us decent cover if we stay close. Makes getting about much nicer.

hey heySo this umbrella looks small all folded up but open it and theres actually ROOM under there, enough for me and the camera without everything feeling squashed. The button makes getting it up ridiculously simple ( which is good when you're holding other things ) and the material doesn't feel flimsy to me at all. Haven't had water sneaking round the edge and dripping down on me either, that has annoyed me with umbrellas before. Now my nature videos don't have to stop just because of some rain (:I can stand there filming instead of trying to keep myself and my equipment covered with something too tiny.Definitely money well spent and whoever thought about the design deserves a little credit

The umbrella is excellent, that part is simple.
The umbrella is excellent, that part is simple. Getting an answer was the bit I wasn't happy about. I sent a message about the delivery on Saturday night. Several days passed without a reply and I was getting quite cross. Came home from work and there was the umbrella. So it had been on its way while I was sitting there wondering. Have used it now and it gives good cover, the button is straightforward too. I still wish somebody had answered so I knew what was happening, but I'm happy with the umbrella and how things ended up.
Mike Hurley
I would be happy to buy another of these.
A really pretty umbrella, it would look quite at home with a bride at a wedding, or just out giving some shade. My only small reservation is the size, a little smaller than I'd imagined. Delivery to Washington was surprisingly quick. I would be happy to buy another of these.

Good Umbrella..
Good Umbrella..Used it through rainy season in Asia andit kept me dry very nicely. Enough coverage with out feeling too much to carry around. For everyday rain I think you will be happy with yourpurchase. In places where rain comes sideways with lots of wind, better to have extra protection as well. I really enjoyed using it. my wife liked it also and lost it last month.I will be buying another ! Can recommend it.
Omar Castillo
An easy recommendation from me.
I'd had my eye on this for a while and finally ordered after my old umbrella gave out. This one feels reassuringly solid and has handled the wet, blustery days well. It looks great too, judging by the nice comments I've had while carrying it. An easy recommendation from me.

Lovely umbrella overall.
Lovely umbrella overall. I wish the shaft was a bit longer, as I end up holding my hand higher than I'd like. I'm 5'9" and my arm gets tired sooner than with a longer umbrella.Don't think I dislike it, I still reach for it regularly. It feels really solid and I've yet to find one that suits me better. Very sturdy.
Andres Powers
this one seems much more solid so far.
What I appreciate about this umbrella is the practical construction, not just how it looks. The Cream White top has a black underside and the coverage is about 105 cm across when opened. Folded it measures about 40 cm, so it isn't one of those tiny pocket umbrellas. There are 30 flexible ribs supporting the canopy. The frame feels substantial without making it a chore to take along, about 390 grams according to the details. My earlier umbrellas felt flimsy around the ribs; this one seems much more solid so far.The button pops it open and also collapses the canopy. After that you compress the telescoping section yourself, which is straightforward once you know how it works. A sleeve is included to put it away in. For everyday rain this has been a convenient, well made umbrella and I am very satisfied with it.
Adrian Lambert
Nothing difficult about that.
Living near Seattle and walking a lot means an umbrella doesn't get much time off with me. This one has had about seven months of regular use now, and I still can't see any obvious wear. It fits in my backpack without taking over the whole thing, which matters on the occasional day I carry it and never actually need it. Once open, it gives me a comfortable amount of cover. The mechanism is still smooth, the ribs are all in place, and the fabric hasn't started pulling away anywhere. A press opens it, another gathers the canopy, and I shorten the telescoping section manually before putting it away. Nothing difficult about that. It also goes into the sleeve without the elaborate folding exercise some umbrellas seem to require. I don't deliberately take it out to battle the worst weather, but it has dealt with the rain and breezes of everyday walking very well. Basically, it has avoided the little irritating things that usually make me stop using an umbrella. If I lose this one, I'd choose the same again.

Love the solid feel of this umbrella, and that opening action (!
Love the solid feel of this umbrella, and that opening action (!) is really positive. Takes a fairly firm press on the button.Have used it in windy weather and it has impressed me. The fiddly bit for me is gathering all the material neatly afterwards. I end up smoothing the folds down and rolling it round a couple of times before it looks tidy. It is not a big problem, but I wish that part was as quick as opening it. Otherwise a very good umbrella.
Shelby Sosa
seems a much better choice than another cheap impulse buy.
my dad always reckoned a decent umbrella was worth having and i'm beginning to see his point... my boyfriend gave me this blue one for my birthday when my old umbrella finally gave up... that one had been around for years, so fair enough... i've carried umbrellas through bay area rain and new york downpours and don't fancy wrestling with a flimsy one again... haven't needed this one a huge amount yet, but the button works nicely and the whole thing feels reassuring... seems a much better choice than another cheap impulse buy.

The pink colour and the open size are what I expected
The pink colour and the open size are what I expected; however, it feels a little heavier to carry than I had hoped. I am not sure how comfortable it will be to hold up for longer stretches. I do plan on using it and will see how I get on with it over time. As a city tour guide, my main reason for buying it was to give the group something easy to follow, rather than simply to keep the rain off.
Cassie Clayton
Overall I'm happy with it so far.
I spent quite a while reading about different umbrellas before deciding on the Haven, mainly because I wanted something that folded down but didn't feel like the whole frame was an afterthought. It is difficult to judge that from pictures, so I was still a bit unsure until I had it in my hands. Firstly, it is compact when folded, but I wouldn't describe it as one of those tiny umbrellas you forget is in your bag. The handle is a closed oval loop, which takes up some room of its own, and the shaft has several sections that slide together. There are a lot of ribs under the covering, thirty according to the description, and that makes the inside look quite busy compared with what I was expecting. I'm using the word ribs because I actually looked up what the different umbrella parts were called, otherwise this would just be a review about sticks and the middle bit lol. The covering itself seems fine from the one outing I've had with it. I leave it open to dry before putting it in the sleeve, partly because I don't like packing away anything damp, and the sleeve is more useful to me once everything has dried. What I keep looking at are the points where the canopy is attached to the frame. Nothing has come away or looks loose, but these small joining areas are always what make me wonder about how an umbrella will last, rather than how impressive it looks opened up. The ribs do have some flexibility, so hopefully that means the covering and its attachments aren't taking every little movement quite so directly. It coped with the light wind during that first use, although I don't think one outing tells you very much about that either. Obviously I can't say much about durability after using it once. I will try to update this after it has had more use, particularly if I notice wear around those areas or the sliding sections start feeling different. Size-wise, my mother and I managed under it together by staying very close. We're both short, so that probably helps, and it didn't feel awkward for me to carry on my own despite my initial impression of the folded size. Overall I'm happy with it so far. My hesitation is mostly about those attachment points over time, not anything that has actually gone wrong, so four stars feels fair until I have a better idea of that.

This pink umbrella has been a very good choice.
Finding props that look right without eating up the costume budget is always a relief. I look at price, colour, size and whether something will survive being handled over and over. This pink umbrella has been a very good choice. It looks as expected from the pictures and isn't just something pretty that needs treating like glass. It has made it through three weeks of rehearsals and an eight-week show run while still looking presentable and working well. That matters a lot when things get used night after night. I'm delighted with how this purchase worked out and would certainly choose it again!!!

I carry mine with gothic clothes & for summer shade.
These are pretty parasols without forgetting the useful part. The folded size is a real plus. I carry mine with gothic clothes & for summer shade. The green outside and black underside look lovely together. I've seen much fussier parasols costing more, and not looking half as nice.
Chase Ortega
Overall, really pleased with how they worked for us.
We had around a dozen of these for the children's dance in our elementary school talent show. They were a good size for the number and looked nice together on stage. There was quite a lot of handling by the kids and they held up well. Folding everything away afterwards took a little patience. Overall, really pleased with how they worked for us.

There's a decent amount of shelter once it's opened up.
Living in Tallahassee means sunshine can turn into a downpour before you know it-so an umbrella goes everywhere with me. This folds small enough for the side compartment of my backpack, which makes it easy to leave there. It doesn't have that flimsy feeling some compact umbrellas have, either. There's a decent amount of shelter once it's opened up.

Spending a bit extra on an umbrella makes sense to me if it means not replacing it all the time. This one has been my everyday umbrella for a few years now and is still holding together nicely (which hasn't always been the case). It gets borrowed by the family too, so it hasn't exactly had an easy life.
Bob Turner
I'm very pleased with this one.
An umbrella I'd kept for years was left out on the porch during a bad storm, and that was the end of it. I wanted its replacement to feel familiar rather than something completely different. I'm very pleased with this one. It has the straightforward look I liked about the old umbrella, though this one folds down instead of being a long stick. The ribs have some flexibility, which is different from what I was used to, and the opening button is handy. So far it has done everything I've needed in the rain. I can't tell yet whether it will last as many years as my previous one, but it seems nicely made and I like using it. That's really what I was hoping for when I started looking. If it wears as well as it seems it might, I would happily get another for my husband.

Black goes with everything I carry, so that part was an easy choice!
Black goes with everything I carry, so that part was an easy choice! The button needs a definite push, which I actually prefer. I've had umbrellas pop open when I barely brushed the button and I don't need that happening again. With this one I'm pressing it on purpose. My one small grumble, and it probably matters more to somebody else, is getting the sleeve back on. You have to fold the material fairly neatly first. I usually leave umbrella sleeves in a drawer anyway because otherwise they disappear, so it isn't something I'm worried about day to day.The important part is how it behaves outside. I've carried it through a few rainy days now and my shoulders aren't getting soaked. It opens without a fuss and there's enough cover for me. That's all I really wanted from an umbrella, and I'm happy with it!

So far I feel I've made a good choice.
My last umbrella was a little bigger, but this still gives me enough room for me and the dog on our walks. Pressing the button to open it is very convenient. Another press folds the canopy, then I push the telescoping section down to pack it away. Nothing complicated once you've done it. The handle feels smooth and comfortable in my hand, which I appreciate when we're out for a while. So far I feel I've made a good choice. Hoping it gives me as many years as the old one did!

It's still with me after a few months, which is a good run by my usual umbrella standards. I didn't pay a great deal more than I would for one grabbed from a shop stand when it starts raining. The difference is that this one actually feels substantial when you use it.
Jaime Booth
It arrived promptly and I'm glad I chose it for her.
My 4 year old granddaughter received this umbrella from me for Christmas and was so excited about having one of her own. She wanted it opened right then, even though there wasn't any rain. The pink is cheerful and she loves carrying it around. I help her with the button and putting it away. It arrived promptly and I'm glad I chose it for her.
Joann Heath
Excellent umbrella.
Excellent umbrella. The button works smoothly and it feels very solid when it's up. I can give it a good shake before coming inside and there's surprisingly little water left on it. Living somewhere tropical, we get some seriously wet weather, so an umbrella isn't just something that sits unused for months. This has had eight months of use now, and it still opens nicely and dries out well. Couldn't be happier with it!
Levi Kirby
Very happy with how much cover this gives.
Very happy with how much cover this gives. My husband uses it walking from the parking garage to his work building, and it does the job nicely. Closing the canopy is quick, but compressing the shaft needs a little effort. Keep your face clear while you're folding things away!
Betty Cochran
Seems like an ordinary, decent umbrella so far.
I was after a pink umbrella for a wedding, and this looked plain enough to work with everything else. It cost a little more than some I considered, but the colour was right so I went with it. Seems like an ordinary, decent umbrella so far. I'll update if anything especially good or bad shows up after more use.
Warren Calderon
I've used a fair few umbrellas!
I've used a fair few umbrellas! The coverage on this one is good and the button is a big plus.No messing about trying to open it while getting wet. My only niggle is packing it away, it needs a proper push to shorten the shaft after the canopy shuts.I knew it wasn't completely automatic, but it still takes a bit more effort than I'd like. Otherwise very happy with it.
Grace Phillips
The button needs a definite push.
At the beginning I gave the button a very soft press, and it did not release, so I was going to help it with my hand, but with a proper press it went up normally. The button needs a definite push. For getting into the car, closing the canopy like this seems to make things less wet.

My pink umbrella turned up in great shape and I'm delighted with it... the oval loop handle, the quick opening, the lovely pink canopy and the way it feels properly supported without being enormous. It's a cheerful thing to have ready by the door. The funny part is - ever since it arrived, the weather has been mostly sunshine. I know I can use it for shade too, but I keep wanting a rainy afternoon just so I have an excuse to carry my lovely new umbrella!
Kelly Dominguez
Was fed up with being damp.
Was fed up with being damp. Little umbrellas often seem to leave half of me outside them. This has much better cover! The push button is great too ( the closing part still makes me jump a bit)I went with gray. It's a softer shade than I expected from the picture. Not a flashy colour but I like it...hopefully I'll recognise it and remember to bring it home, and it makes a miserable wet day feel nicer!

If you were hoping this would rescue you from every possible…
If you were hoping this would rescue you from every possible disaster, keep looking. No help at all with a collapsing hillside, a house fire or the earth moving under you. For the much smaller problem of rain landing on your head, however, it does a splendid job. Five stars from me, judged strictly on its qualifications as an umbrella rather than emergency services.
Latoya Henson
Has worked very good for me!
For health reasons I need some shade when I am out in the sun. It gets hot where I live so carrying a big umbrella was not something I wanted. This folds into my bag and is easy enough for me to open and put away. Gives me useful shade over my head and shoulders. Has worked very good for me!
Sue Lane
Opened out, the canopy gives me decent coverage when I'm alone.
The best thing about it is how little space it takes up once folded. Opened out, the canopy gives me decent coverage when I'm alone. What I had hoped for, though, was something we could share now and then without having to think about it. Two people can get underneath, but walking together means keeping shoulders close and paying attention to who has the edge of the cover. A few blocks is manageable, not what I'd call comfortable. I looked at the dimensions before buying, but clearly pictured more room than there actually is when you're both moving. I appreciate that it fits in my bag, so it isn't a wasted purchase. Nothing wrong with how it works, it just hasn't quite filled the role I wanted. If buying specifically for two of us again, I'd get something larger.
Mindy Walton
Size was really the main reason i went for this umbrella.
Size was really the main reason i went for this umbrella. It's been out with me around a dozen times now and i've stayed dry, which is about all i ask of it! There isn't much trouble carrying it about, so it actually comes with me rather than getting left at home. I wouldn't choose a small umbrella like this for really wild wind, even though nothing has gone wrong with it so far. It's more about having something portable than seeing what weather it can take. The push button opening is suprisingly smooth for something that folds down this small. For what i wanted, its been a very good buy. Five stars for being there when i need it!

I'd spend the money again ,five stars from me !!!!!
Best umbrella i've owned ,spent ages beside the lacrosse pitch in rain this spring and it earned its keep .My shoulders stayed dry and it felt solid even when the weather got blustery .Some people really dislike that new umbrella smell ,doesn't bother me its going outside anyway .I care more about being dry than how it smells straight out of the wrapping .This one opens quickly and has already had plenty of wet afternoons ,still feels good .I'd spend the money again ,five stars from me !!!!!

A handy little find!
A handy little find! Spent ages browsing umbrellas that cost much more, then thought I'd try this instead. Glad I didn't overthink it any longer. Most of its use is beside the baseball field watching my kid, since my fair skin doesn't like sitting in the sun. My husband took a turn holding it and noticed how much nicer it felt in the shade too. It looks cute as well. Money well spent!
Mercedes Hendricks
this is the sort I'd rather have with me!
Enough umbrella to keep me covered without feeling like I'm carrying a tent... just a sensible size.Feels strong too, and it's done a good job in the heavy rain we've had.Don't waste your money on those flimsy street umbrellas... this is the sort I'd rather have with me!
Shari Rich
my daughter adores, adores her umbrella.
WOW. my daughter adores, adores her umbrella. she carries it indoors, takes it outside, includes it in dress up, everything. it's really cute. i'd been wanting a decent folding one, so i'm pleased she picked this for Christmas. she's just 6 and it's holding up to her playing with it, which is a good sign.
Cynthia Mckinney
The shaft is a little shorter than I'd like.
The shaft is a little shorter than I'd like. Reading the dimensions didn't really help me picture how it would sit when held. Perhaps a photo of somebody using it would make that easier? Otherwise I like the appearance, and pressing the button to have it pop open is very satisfying.
Caleb Hardin
Very happy with both the finish and overall quality.
The canopy feels substantial, what was a nice surprise! It is quite roomy once opened but still manageable to carry (for a compact umbrella). The button is handy and bringing the canopy closed is simple too. I love how it looks! The oval handle is pleasant to hold.Very happy with both the finish and overall quality.
Neil Knapp
Overall a nice umbrella.
Good umbrella, just not quite the size I prefer for carrying around. Folded up it's still longer than I'd like and doesn't sit where I want it on the car floor. I tend to want something I can lay flat and forget about until it rains. I'm not very tall either, so the extra cover isn't as important to me. Those are personal niggles rather than anything wrong with how it works. Overall a nice umbrella.
Gordon Riley
Happy with it overall, just not my everyday bag umbrella.
I walk to work every day and wanted an umbrella that would cover me better than the one I was using. This does that well, and so far it hasn't flipped when it's been breezy. I'm taking one star off because it feels rather chunky in my work bag and heavier than I want for carrying just in case. On wet mornings I reach for this one, but I still take my smaller old umbrella when the forecast looks alright. It cost a little more than I usually spend, though the construction seems good enough to make that worthwhile. The coverage suits one person comfortably without taking over the whole pavement. I wouldn't choose it if you need to keep several people dry, but for walking on your own it's a useful size. Happy with it overall, just not my everyday bag umbrella.
