This one has been a very welcome change.

After years of carrying flimsy little folding umbrellas, I wanted something that actually covered me without feeling disposable. This one has been a very welcome change. The button releases the canopy smoothly, rather than making me wrestle it into position. I still give people space when opening a wet umbrella, but it doesn't have that wild, jerky movement I've had with others. Looking underneath, the supports seem substantial and the whole thing feels better put together. I've only had it out a few times, and getting into the car has been straightforward. One press gathers the canopy, then I compress the telescoping stem to pack it away. No struggling to keep the fabric from springing open again. There is a comfortable amount of room overhead without carrying a full length umbrella everywhere. The black is also quite smart with a suit, which is a nice change from the scruffy little things I used to carry.

Handy little umbrella.

Handy little umbrella. The button pops it open and draws the canopy back in, which makes it simple to use. It's been out in wet, windy weather a few times without folding over on me. The frame has a substantial feel, yet it packs down neatly enough. Money well spent.

It's for shade as much as rain for me.

I do carry this thing! southwest louisiana and public transport means even the morning sunshine gets you. It's for shade as much as rain for me. The green looks lovely, and there's a decent patch of shade under the canopy.I find it substantial but comfortable in my hand. All the fuss about weight seems a little much, I've already got lunch, a drink, work papers...one umbrella isn't my biggest problem. It goes in its sleeve when I'm carrying everything else. Proper storm use is still to come so I can't speak for that part yet.I'll update when I can.btw it gets lots of nice comments, very elegant.

I could just say there is plenty of room under this umbrella and stop there but I think people should know it isn't one of those tiny ones you can hide in a coat pocket. It folds down and is easy enough to carry but you will still need some space in your bag. That suits me because I wanted the coverage and not the smallest possible thing you can buy.

Came quickly and packed securely.

Came quickly and packed securely. The quality is excellent and the folded dimentions are right, wanted it to go diagonally in my luggage..and yes it fits!Recomend it. My wife likes the pink and it looks even better opened out. Shaft seems strong too, should be a good one to take away with us.

The box seemed enormous for a folded umbrella.

Being out in the rain supervising children meant I wanted something sturdy that would keep my shoulders dry. This umbrella has done that nicely and I'm very satisfied. It gives me good coverage and a child can squeeze in close beside me. The frame has dealt well with wind during use, and I've even had compliments about how attractive it is.There are 3 odd little details to mention:1. There was a plastic smell initially, which took about two weeks to disappear.2. The box seemed enormous for a folded umbrella.3. The button shuts the canopy, but you still need to push the telescoping pole down by hand. I caught a finger while doing that the first time and had a bruise, which was my reminder to keep clear of the moving sections. Now that I know how to handle it, closing and putting it away isn't a problem. Just take a little care.

Gave this as a present & she was so pleased.

Gave this as a present & she was so pleased. First thing she said was, "Oh, I've wanted one like that for ages!" I have one too & love how a folding umbrella doesn't leave you carrying a long stick around all day. Takes up very little room when packed away, yet looks lovely once open. It's handy when rain seems likely, but I also take mine for a bit of shade in the bleachers while watching sports. Useful doesn't have to mean boring, and this makes a really nice gift!

What a difference.

After a few disappointing "travel" umbrellas, I decided to pay a little more for a sturdier compact one. What a difference. The fabric and frame feel substantial, not flimsy, and it looks good too. I'd say it's worth spending the extra for something you actually enjoy using.

I've had this umbrella for a couple of years now.

I've had this umbrella for a couple of years now. It's a lovely beige, a little richer in person than the photos made me expect. Nice coverage when it's open and not too much to carry about. Folding all that fabric neatly does take a bit of fuss, which is my small grumble. I once caught it on something and started to pull before realizing that wasn't a very clever idea. so I'd say treat it with some care rather than expect miracles. It still has that elegant look I liked in the first place. I'd choose it again, I love it!

Makes a great prop for photos.

a fun umbrella with a bit of an old-fashioned feel when it's open. Makes a great prop for photos. It folds down, which is a lot handier than carrying a full length umbrella around, though maybe still a bit much for a small girl. Nice for an adult wanting something playful. Love mine...and there was rain waiting when it turned up!

Audrey Roy

Enough umbrella to actually do the job.

The reviews persuaded me to give it a try. No disappointment....opens out to useful coverage and packs down neatly afterward. Feels solid too. For what I paid ....a very fair deal (especially considering the construction). Enough umbrella to actually do the job.

Christopher Hurst

A smart looking umbrella, and more elegant than I expected.

A smart looking umbrella, and more elegant than I expected. I was hesitant about buying another after struggling with others in the wind, but needed to keep my laptop dry. Our thunderstorm season here in Windsor, Ontario, has been a fair test so far. A little bulky when folded, otherwise I'm enjoying it

Sheena Hood

Handle rests comfortably in hand.

Nice to look at. Good feeling materials. Button opening and closing of the canopy. Handle rests comfortably in hand. Do not expect some grand luxury. It is an umbrella for the mood also. He keeps the rain away and makes the owner a little happier. Maybe others are more practical, but they do not bring the same pleasure on a miserable day.

Anna Bradford

Finally, a folding umbrella I actually like!

Finally, a folding umbrella I actually like! In NYC the weather you head out in isn't necessarily the weather you come home in. Walking is how we get around. Sunny morning, wet afternoon. So an umbrella has to earn the space it takes in my daypack or shoulder bag. The little emergency ones sold on the street have never felt like a good use of money to me. And some tiny folding ones offer about enough shelter for your forehead. This one folds down reasonably neatly but gives me proper coverage when I put it up. It's not the shortest folded umbrella, which is a trade I'm happy to make for a decent canopy and a solid feel. The blue is easy to spot among my things, too, so hopefully fewer chances of leaving it somewhere. For the money, I'm more than satisfied.

Handy for some shade as well.

Got this for my three year old son and it's been such a hit. We had a lot of rain a few days back and he wanted to walk round the whole backyard under it, with me helping when needed. It kept him nicely covered. Handy for some shade as well. He just loves having an umbrella of his own.

Patty Jacobs

seems a good design for the sort of rain we get.

it's not small enough for my purse, so this stays at the office most of the time. we don't usually get rain early in the day, but those afternoon storms can catch you leaving work. i take it along when the sky looks that way and it keeps my shoulders and head dry. it's also dealt well with wind picking up suddenly. i've seen umbrellas turn inside out around me, but haven't had that trouble with this one. seems a good design for the sort of rain we get.

Martin Nolan

Easy enough to carry and seems strong for its size.

Easy enough to carry and seems strong for its size. I haven't put it through a heavy thunderstorm, so can't comment on that. The thing I appreciate most is how little water seems left on the canopy after a quick shake. I leave it open to finish drying, then it goes back in my bag without much fuss.

William Haney

I'll add more after some proper use.

I haven't had a chance to try this in really heavy rain, so these are first impressions. For a compact umbrella it feels surprisingly substantial, especially around the ribs. The folded size is the main attraction for me, I dont fancy carrying a giant umbrella about and looking like I've brought my own garden shelter. I'll add more after some proper use. Promising so far, but not fully tested.

Jay Downs

VERY handy, feels solid.

VERY handy, feels solid. Only taken it out four times so far, but being able to close the canopy with a button is brilliant when getting into the car with bags. I brought it on a work trip to Des Moines because rain was forecast. Usually I pack as little as possible and leave umbrellas at home, but this fitted next to my laptop IN my work bag, so there wasn't much excuse. Doesn't take over the bag and has a reassuring feel when you hold it.

Aaron Livingston

Such useful shade!!

Such useful shade!! Sitting at games is much nicer with this over me. With my old umbrella I'd still end up feeling baked, but this one makes sitting in the sun more comfortable. A little breeze hasn't stopped me using it either. I love having it along for those sunny afternoons!

Katherine Mayer

This one has been a really good buy.

Living in pittsburgh means i have tried enough umbrellas to know when one is worth keeping. This one has been a really good buy. It gives me decent coverage in rain and feels much more secure than the flimsy little ones i used before. If your thinking it will disappear into any tiny bag, it won't. It folds but there's still some length to it which is worth knowing. For me thats fine because i wanted something I could actually stand under without my shoulders getting wet. I've used it on the wet blustery days here and so far it has stayed in shape. The shape looks good and the closed loop handle is comfortable to carry. Its a sensible size once open without being some enormous umbrella to drag about. Worth spending the money rather than always replacing a cheap one

Brianna Brock

The gray looks nice too.

One press to open it and another to fold the canopy makes it very handy. There is more room underneath than the folded size suggests. The gray looks nice too. Closing hasn't been a struggle for me, I press the button then push the shaft down by hand until it catches. Simple enough.

I wanted more cover than my smaller umbrella offered when two of us walked together. This has been a good improvement, although we still need to keep close rather than walk with a gap between us.It has been through several summer showers already and has felt steady, including when it was windy. Used by myself there is plenty of room, and the whole thing feels substantial rather than cheap. I don't expect a compact umbrella to cover two people as generously as a huge one, but it strikes a useful balance for me. I'd recommend it especially to someone wanting good coverage for one, with the option to share when needed.

Vicki Parrish

It's sturdy, and having my own patch of shade is REALLY NICE.

My archaeology work takes me into the desert in eastern California, where summer temperatures can reach 115 degrees. I try to limit the time the sun is beating straight onto me and this has helped a lot. It's sturdy, and having my own patch of shade is REALLY NICE. It covers me comfortably without being a huge umbrella to carry about. Wind can still give it a tug, so I do have to hang onto it, but that hasn't made it difficult to use. For work outside when I need something I can fold up and take along, this is a very useful umbrella and good value.

Loretta Bradford

Would def recommend these!

I'd been looking for an umbrella with decent coverage for a while, so the positive reviews persuaded me to give this one a go. Ordered two, one for myself and another for a co-worker. Both looked lovely! Bigger when opened than I'd imagined and they seem sturdy. There was a little dust on them out of the packaging, but a quick wipe sorted that. Would def recommend these!

Alan Hebert

This one gave me a good reason to.

Bought this for city weather and honestly, what a relief. If you walk everywhere you know how quickly umbrellas seem to come and go. Leave one beside your seat in a coffee shop, get caught out next time, rush into a little shop and buy whatever is there. I was thoroughly bored of that routine and wanted something I would make an effort to hang onto. This one gave me a good reason to. It opened quickly, covered me properly and felt solid in my hand instead of making me wonder how long it would survive. The breezy streets didn't cause it any trouble during my everyday walks, and I wasn't arriving with wet shoulders. Of course I still had to remember to take it home, apparently no umbrella can solve that part for me. I used it for years and was genuinely fond of the thing. When I eventually moved somewhere drier it seemed silly to keep it in a cupboard, so I passed it to my neighbour. Nice to think it's still being useful rather than joining my collection of things I never need anymore.

Russell Burnett

It came when expected and looked like the pictures.

It came when expected and looked like the pictures. I picked cream white. I spent a while getting familiar with the opening and folding, probably made more of that than necessary. Then almost two weeks passed with no proper chance to use it, where was the rain!! Have taken it out several times now and people have said how nice it looks! The canopy comes down with the button, then I shorten the shaft by hand before folding it neatly. I leave it out to dry first rather than putting it straight away wet. It's quite roomy on me, but I'm only 4'10" so that probably makes it look bigger. Two short people can huddle under it, but someone taller beside me gets rather less cover...we discovered that pretty quickly LoL

Kimberly Bird

It arrived promptly and was packed neatly.

This was a birthday present for my mother. It arrived promptly and was packed neatly. The umbrella feels solid without being cumbersome, and the button opens the canopy with very little fuss. I liked that she didn't have to struggle to get it open. She was delighted with her gift, so I'm happy to recommend it.

Donna Woods

looks just like the pictures-- such a relief!

looks just like the pictures-- such a relief! the green is really pretty, definitely GREEN and not some washed out colour. looks lovely. i was a bit clumsy with opening it at first and wondered if i was doing it wrong-- turns out i wasn't pressing the button properly. after that it opens fine and the button closes the top too, you still push the pole shorter yourself. not difficult once i'd done it. i wanted it mostly for photos rather than day to day rain, but it's nice that i can actually use it afterwards and not just put it away. overall i'm very pleased, it is exactly the little green touch i wanted for my august wedding photos down in FL! yay!

Jacqueline Rollins

I'd choose something bigger if I was walking in rain every day.

Handy to put in a larger bag for travelling, though I wouldn't call it tiny.Once open it covers me reasonably well, but on my walk to work the rain can still get at my legs.I'd choose something bigger if I was walking in rain every day.For taking on a trip and using when caught out, it is a useful compromise and feels decent for that job

Chase Shah

Both have seen plenty of rain and have done exactly what I wanted.

Never thought I would get excited over an umbrella, but THIS ONE IS GREAT! It made a good impression straight out of the packaging--nicely finished and solid in the hand. I ended up getting a second to keep in the car. Both have seen plenty of rain and have done exactly what I wanted.

Norman Hodges

Now I'm almost hoping for rain so I can take it out.

Seeing a woman walking along in the rain with a pretty umbrella made me want a nicer one myself. I'm glad I went ahead and got this. It looks good and seems sturdy, which matters where I live in New England. Now I'm almost hoping for rain so I can take it out. Just be aware that although it folds down, it's not a tiny featherweight umbrella. There's a decent amount to hold when it is open.

Corey Monroe

I love having this umbrella around.

I love having this umbrella around. Working in downtown Los Angeles, I keep it close for the days when rain finally shows up. Much easier to manage around other people than a big awkward umbrella. Had a few compliments on it too. I've bought two now because I managed to lose the first, and wanted the same one again. The black looks good and the button saves fiddling around when I'm heading outside. Would happily buy it again!!

Ana Mcpherson

Been good in the rain and the breezy days I've used it.

This has enough room over me and my backpack without being enormous to put away. Been good in the rain and the breezy days I've used it. The sleeve goes on easily (even after taking it off over and over). One press and it opens right up. My only little thing is the loop grip feels quite big for my fingers, so someone with small hands might find it less comfortable.

Albert Gould

Wasn't expecting much for the money, but these have turned out to be useful umbrellas. The family keeps reaching for them and they've stood up well so far, not only on the golf course. One stays with the golf cart, another near the door for taking the dogs out, and there's one in the car for getting caught in a shower.

Loretta Wilcox

Went back to my smaller umbrella the other day and couldn't believe how flimsy it felt after this one. There's a proper solid feel to this and it covers me well when it's raining. I've even held it over myself at the grill in the rain, one hand for the umbrella and the other free to keep things going.

Sylvia Matthews

This looks lovely as well as being useful!

My skin burns easily, so I take an umbrella for extra shade when I'm going to be outside all day. This looks lovely as well as being useful! I don't think I've EVER answered so many questions about an umbrella. People stop me to ask where I found it and I've ended up explaining it over and over.I almost need little cards to hand out! The one SMALL downside for me is that the handle takes up more room than I expected in my bag. Otherwise it has become one of my favourite things I've bought online! :)

Rose Barker

This gives me a little of that feeling again.

At my age I did wonder whether buying an umbrella because it looked pretty was a bit silly. But being a senior woman shouldn't mean everything you own has to be plain and sensible. We have nice girly things when we're young, then somewhere along the way stop choosing them. This gives me a little of that feeling again. Other people have been very kind about it too.

Roger Lam

pretty decent quality considering what i paid

i live in hawaii so umbrellas need to be easy to grab on the way out! i keep these in a tall wooden vase thing by the door, looks tidy and nobody has to go hunting for one. they aren't long golf umbrellas but open out to a useful size when we take them to the course. the ribs have some flex and they've been fine in the breezes we've had so far. The loop handle is comfortable to hang onto, not an awkward little knob digging into your hand. folds up neatly afterwards too. pretty decent quality considering what i paid

Keith Rogers

The umbrella arrived on time and appears reasonably well constructed.

The umbrella arrived on time and appears reasonably well constructed. It opens correctly and the canopy gives the coverage I expected. The drawback for me is the oval handle, which I do not find comfortable to hold for very long. It is a matter of the shape rather than anything being damaged. I will use it, but the grip has made it less convenient than I had hoped.

Jasmin Mueller

The oval loop handle looks rather big in her hand.

My five year old is delighted with this umbrella and people have said how nice it looks. It's pretty without being too "princess" looking. She can press the button to open it and bring the canopy in again, although I help with pushing the shaft back in. My two little reservations are: 1. The oval loop handle looks rather big in her hand. That's just my taste, but it's the part I keep noticing. 2. The fabric feels thinner than I expected. After about a dozen uses it's still keeping her dry, I just wonder how it will wear over time. For what it cost I can't be too fussy, and she likes carrying it so much. I wouldn't call it a tiny children's umbrella, but with a bit of help she's enjoying it, so four stars seems fair.

Joy Shea

I've used it since getting home and it's still my favourite.

Treated myself to this before london, then realised it was too long for my bag so I couldnt take it along. I've used it since getting home and it's still my favourite. Looks much more expensive than it was, and my friends seem surprised when I tell them what I actually paid for it!

Matthew Ellison

The blue makes a wet day a little more cheerful.

The blue makes a wet day a little more cheerful. Its roomy enough for me, or me and my child tucked beside me, without taking over the whole pavement. Once folded it slips into my tote easily and doesn't leave me trying to squeeze everything else around a great big umbrella.

Jaclyn Curtis

Attractive umbrella and a useful amount of cover.

Attractive umbrella and a useful amount of cover. The button makes opening it very straightforward, and pressing it again draws the canopy closed. Even my 7 year old enjoys helping with that part. There are a couple of reasons I've stopped at four stars rather than five... first, closing the canopy doesn't mean the whole umbrella retracts. You still have to push the shaft down yourself before it is ready to open again. That is normal for this design, but takes more effort than the button and is a job I do rather than leaving it to my daughter. Second, I find it needs a little patience to fold and wrap the fabric neatly. If I just bundle it up, it looks bulky and is more awkward to carry. Neither point stops it doing its job, and I do like using it. The cream white is a cheerful change from the darker umbrellas around, and it has already had a few admiring comments. For me the appearance and good coverage outweigh the extra moment spent packing it up.

Brian Reese

People have commented on how nice it looks too.

Six months in and I'm still glad I picked this up! It gives me good cover when I walk down the street for errands, sometimes with my 15-month-old in my arms. Being able to press a button instead of fiddling with a catch is especially helpful then. We can both tuck underneath, although I keep the front raised enough to see where I'm going on the busy pavement. People have commented on how nice it looks too.It has felt quite sturdy during normal use, but we haven't been out with it in really strong gusts. For that sort of weather I'd probably leave the short errands until later rather than put it to the test.

Taylor Gray

A very welcome thing to have on blazing hot days!

Four months of walking most places and waiting at sunny bus stops has made me appreciate this umbrella! Having my own shade makes the heat much easier to put up with, and people have stopped to ask about it! Doesn't feel heavy to carry and it folds small enough for my roomy handbag. A very welcome thing to have on blazing hot days!

Cristian Lloyd

The handle is the one thing I'm not completely sold on.

A pretty umbrella, and it feels solid enough for my little boy who is nearly three. With me helping he got the hang of the button after a few tries, though I still shorten the shaft by hand for him. The handle is the one thing I'm not completely sold on. It's a closed oval loop, and I had really wanted a curved handle I could rest over my arm. When I'm keeping hold of a little one and carrying a baby, having somewhere convenient to hang things makes a difference. He's been so pleased with it that I couldn't see taking it away now. Overall I do like it, just wish the handle suited me a little better.

Jerome Fuller

It's a compact umbrella, the canopy material feels decent and putting it away was straightforward. It suits me better as a one person umbrella, I wouldn't expect it to cover somebody beside me as well in heavier rain. For carrying something manageable and keeping myself dry, I think it's good.

She's a musician and had noticed similar ones at an audition...

For her graduation I gave my daughter this pink umbrella, and she has loved having it. She's a musician and had noticed similar ones at an audition... then worried she wouldn't be able to find one herself!! She tried it as soon as she opened the box and was delighted with how it worked. It's been a thoroughly successful present, even better than she'd hoped!!
