my 4yr old son likes to pull an umbrella right down over his head, then he cant see where hes walking. So we are reminding him to hold this one higher. i went for the cream white and it looks really nice, a bit different from the usual dark umbrellas. Thought it might open wider but theres more than enough for him. I work the button for him and he is happy carrying it. Nothing fancy on it but it has its own look. I dont see why it should be just for girls or boys. nice present idea too.

I keep hoping for rain so I can take it out.
"I was so excited to get this because it was the one I really wanted. It looks so pretty! I keep hoping for rain so I can take it out. The button makes it open really quickly, and another press folds the top in. Then you push it shorter. I think mine is awesome!"--My daughter, age 8.
It folds for carrying, but opened up this is not a tiny children's umbrella, so keep that in mind. She has plenty of cover underneath it. I help her compress the shaft after she's closed the canopy, since that part needs a firmer push. For an older child or a teenager I would expect the size to be fine too. Compact doesn't mean only big enough for a little kid.

Living just outside Boston means an umbrella gets a lot of use,…
Living just outside Boston means an umbrella gets a lot of use, between rain and blustery days. I usually get through several in a year, so I'm hoping this one will last a while. So far it has been great, the opening button is handy and the ribs have coped well when it's been breezy. The open size surprised me a little, more room than the tiny personal ones I generally carry. Enough for me without having to tuck my shoulders in, which I dont mind at all. For the money I think it's a solid umbrella and I'm glad I chose it.

this has been handy for keeping us covered on our way in.
we get plenty of wet weather where we live, and taking a toddler to story time or a play date means being out in it. this has been handy for keeping us covered on our way in. i hold it high enough to watch for traffic instead of hiding behind it. also makes a useful little boundary when somebody wants to reach in and pinch cheeks, ha. not much spare room with a wriggling toddler, but it does what i need.

In general I'm impressed.
After hearing so many good things I decided to try one, mainly because I travel often for work and need an umbrella that packs away. In general I'm impressed. The packaging was neat---a nice first impression, and I liked the look of the umbrella itself. It springs open with a good snap and feels steady when there's a breeze. The bit that took getting used to was closing it: the button brings the canopy in, but you still push the telescoping shaft back down yourself to reset it. That's how it's meant to work, just worth knowing if you're expecting it to do the whole thing. I love how manageable it is once folded and it's easy to carry with my work things.

First, automatic opening was what I wanted.
First, automatic opening was what I wanted. Second, the price seemed reasonable. I remember paying $20 -- ten years back -- for an umbrella with less cover that needed opening manually. After thirty years of buying umbrellas, I'm not ready to make predictions about the fabric --- I'll see how it wears. At the moment it opens smoothly and gives a useful amount of cover, so I think this was a sensible buy.

A fun choice and I'm happy with it!
Bought the pink one to go with the decals on my car, that was honestly my main reason! It does a decent job keeping me dry too & didn't cost a fortune. Still makes me glance around for zombies when I'm walking through the rain, which probably says more about me than the umbrella. A fun choice and I'm happy with it!

This went to my granddaughter.
This went to my granddaughter. Her old one lasted nearly five years and she was very attached to it. She called when it needed replacing and I got and sent her the cream white. She loves it, lots of compliments too. The button opening and closing the canopy is wonderful.

It's my second one and I'd happily recommend it!
My Chicago commute includes roughly a mile and a half outside every day. Rain and moderate wind have given me a chance to try this out, and it's handled both very well. Light to carry, quick to dry, and I really like the automatic opening. It's my second one and I'd happily recommend it!
Holly Santos
Rain and wind still to come.
Reasonable value. More of a personal umbrella than one to share, which suits me. The button operation is handy and it folds away to a useful size. Worth thinking about how much coverage you need before choosing. Feels decent in the hand, although I have only tried it indoors so far. Rain and wind still to come.

Cons: Only a small concern.
Pros: Nice fabric, flexible ribs, substantial construction, handy size. Packaging was kept tidy.Cons: Only a small concern. The fabric is under tension where it meets the ribs, and that is the area I'd be careful with over time. It looks neatly stitched now and I haven't had a problem, but repeated folding means those little joins will see plenty of handling.
Wanda Francis
I'll see how it wears.
The umbrella looks smart and has a nice clean appearance (quite striking in its own way). My reservation is the canopy, which feels a little thin to the touch. Nothing has gone wrong and it feels reasonably solid in use, though it's only been out a handful of times. I'll see how it wears.
Mallory Snow
What a good sun umbrella!
What a good sun umbrella! Being underneath it is a lovely break from the glare, almost like finding a patch of tree shade. There is a little more weight to carry than with my usual folding umbrella, and packing it away takes some effort. The button shuts the canopy, but I still have to compress the stem myself. Neither thing puts me off, because the shade is so welcome. I'd happily recommend it to someone wanting relief from the sun.
Renee Rios
Small folded, but a decent size once it's up.
I'd had enough of little umbrellas turning inside out whenever the wind came between the buildings, but I didn't want something enormous to carry around. Gave this one a try and it's been a good choice. Anyone walking around tall buildings knows how the wind finds you. I've watched other umbrellas turn over while this one kept its shape. Small folded, but a decent size once it's up.Handy button opens it right out, and another press gathers the canopy in. You do still have to push the stem in yourself before packing it away. Fits in a child's backpack without weighing it down too much. I can see myself getting a few more so the rest of the family can have one.
Roger Sampson
They've had some nice comments too.
We have three of these for the younger kids, all blue. They love having their own umbrellas and the button means I can get them opened quickly. They look like little mushrooms lined up at school pickup! The blue tops make our three easy to pick out. Once folded, the carabiner handles clip onto their backpacks. They've had some nice comments too. Handy umbrellas and a reasonable price for us.
Jocelyn Mckenzie
does keep rain off though so its not useless..
Ok, thanks! I think it looks better than it feels, the material is a bit cheap feeling to me like not as nice as I imagined.. does keep rain off though so its not useless..I guess fine for normal showers but I wouldn't be very confident taking it out in much wind
Eddie Preston
It feels much more solid than the ones I've had and looks good too.
I usually go for the smallest umbrella I can find but made an exception here.It feels much more solid than the ones I've had and looks good too. The sleeve isn't as substantial as the umbrella, although useful for carrying it about. I can get a decent grip on the oval handle when it gets gusty. The only downside is the extra weight compared with what I'm use to, but I'd rather carry that and have something sturdier.
Carl Decker
Nothing wrong with that, just something I had to get used to.
A solid umbrella with a useful amount of cover, whether I'm avoiding a shower or just wanting some shade. It looks quite presentable at our company outings on the golf course. We've got a few umbrellas already, and I like the simple gray finish on this one. I had pictured the gray looking a little lighter from the photos, but the actual shade is still nice enough. One small reservation – putting it away takes a bit more effort than pressing the button might suggest. The canopy closes automatically, but the telescoping part has to be pressed down by hand. Nothing wrong with that, just something I had to get used to. It goes back into the sleeve neatly once I've folded the fabric, so overall I'm happy with it.

I gave this umbrella to my boyfriend and it was a lovely gift!
I gave this umbrella to my boyfriend and it was a lovely gift!Looks good when is put away in the sleeve, not untidy like some umbrellas do. Also the construction feels very nice, so it is something useful and not just for the look. The button opening is handy when your hands are full. However, i would keep it near the top of your luggage at an airport... no point having a nice umbrella if you cannot find it when you get outside.
Jon Rogers
A much nicer umbrella than I was expecting.
A much nicer umbrella than I was expecting. I also picked up a smaller one, and the two cover what I need. This one stays in the car while the smaller one goes with me into the office. What sold me on this one was how solid it looked, and it feels that way too.
Aimee Horn
After seven months it still looks and feels in good shape.
Living near Seattle means I do a lot of walking in damp weather, and this umbrella gets used almost every day. After seven months it still looks and feels in good shape. It sits in my backpack without taking over the whole bag, which matters on the occasional dry day when I end up carrying it around for no reason. Opened up, there is enough canopy to keep me properly covered. The button still opens it promptly and closes the canopy neatly, then I push the telescoping section down to pack it away. The fabric is still sitting nicely on the ribs, the handle feels secure, and I can get it back into the sleeve without having to wrestle with it. Those sound like small things but they make a difference when you use an umbrella this often. I am more impressed now than when it was new, because it has just carried on doing what I need. If I eventually misplace it, or wear it out, I would be quite content to buy the same one again. For daily walking it has been an excellent choice.
Logan Rojas
Very pleased to have one each now.
Mine has been going for three years and it's still doing a good job. Ordered one for my husband because mine kept disappearing with him. The frame has handled windy days well, the ribs have some give rather than feeling rigid. Very pleased to have one each now.
Patrick Weber
The umbrella looks just as it did in the pictures
The umbrella looks just as it did in the pictures; neat and nicely finished. It also feels surprisingly solid for what it costs. I looked at about four other umbrellas in shops before choosing this, and this one was the nicest looking as well as feeling the sturdiest. The oval handle is a little more plain than the rest, but overall the finish is good. Of the umbrellas I looked at, this was definitely the one I preferred.
Dustin Beasley
I like it, just heavier in the bag than I hoped.
My bag is already full of things for work so I was after an umbrella that wouldn't add much weight. I use public transport and every bit makes a difference to my shoulders. Having the button is really convinient when you come off a train with hands full, no fiddling about. The opening works well once you know the button, and it pulls the canopy in too. You still push the telescoping bit down yourself. I like it, just heavier in the bag than I hoped.
Erik Pugh
On balance I am happy with it.
Two umbrellas have covered most of my needs over the years, although only the larger one is still with me. That is a golf umbrella I paid for with tournament winnings, not particularly handsome but it has certainly earned its keep. It covers a lot, which is nice in heavy rain, until the wind catches it and I have to hang on with some determination. My other umbrella was a small automatic model, much handier for taking along when rain was only a possibility. That one was lost after I lent it to a friend. I had a coat and hat, he didn't, and after initially turning it down he changed his mind when the rain increased. I had owned it for years, so losing that little umbrella left a bigger gap than you might think.
Since then the golf umbrella has mostly lived in the trunk, with inexpensive small umbrellas filling in at the office. Neither arrangement was quite satisfactory. The big one is often more umbrella than I want to carry, and the little ones haven't felt nearly as substantial. This green one seemed a reasonable middle ground, and after using it I think that is mostly what it is.
First, being able to reach out through the car door and release the umbrella with a button is very useful. I can get it over me before stepping out, instead of standing beside the car getting wet while I sort everything out. It opens to a surprisingly useful size, more room than my older compact had, though it doesn't replace the golf umbrella for sheer coverage. Closing the canopy is also done with the button, then I push the telescoping sections together to shorten it. That part is manual, but straightforward once you understand the sequence.
The construction underneath interested me. Being an engineer, I am inclined to look at the supports rather than just the fabric on top. There are thirty flexible ribs, with quite a network of bracing between them. It reminds me a little of the way a roof spreads its load through several supports. I am not going to predict years of service from looking at it, but it gives a more substantial impression than the small umbrellas I have been keeping in the desk. In some wind it has also been manageable, which matters more to me than how impressive the framework looks.
There are a couple of things I would change. The carrying sleeve is close fitting, and getting it back on takes more care than taking it off. You need to arrange the folds and wrap the fabric reasonably neatly, otherwise it catches going in. A little extra room would make that less fiddly, particularly when I just want to put it away. Also, compact is a relative description. Folded up, this is longer than the really small umbrella I used to carry, and it won't go in my glove compartment the way I had hoped. I have ended up keeping it behind the front seat instead. Not a major fault, but it does mean reaching back for it rather than having it right beside me.
On balance I am happy with it. There is less wrestling with it than with my large umbrella when the weather gets breezy, and the coverage is good for everyday use. The green looks quite restrained, fine for taking to work as well as using casually. Whether it will last anything like as long as my old golf umbrella is something only time can answer. For now, four stars seems fair, mainly because of the snug sleeve and the folded size. It fills the everyday gap I wanted it to fill.

It's a compact umbrella rather than one of the really big ones,…
It's a compact umbrella rather than one of the really big ones, but I'm 5'6 and 120lbs and get enough cover. It doesn't have that heavy, chunky feel, so I handle it gently when folding it away. If you're trying to picture the size, think an ordinary bag umbrella, not a huge walking one. Very neat looking though, I LOVE the simple look, and for me it was worth getting.
Spencer Potts
This one has been a much better buy.
Compared with umbrellas I've had before, this one feels much more substantial when I open it. The ribs have some give to them, but the whole thing still feels well put together. There's enough cover to keep my head and shoulders dry, and it has held up nicely to rain with a bit of wind. I've paid for umbrellas that sounded wonderful in the description and were nothing special once I actually used them. This one has been a much better buy. It folds down to a manageable size as well, which is useful when the rain stops.
Mario Elliott
Overall its a good buy - I'm satisfied and would happily get another.
I've gone through plenty of umbrellas, and this is easily my favourite so far. It felt well made straight out of the packaging. I'm forever getting out of the car and going into shops, so having a button to open it and fold the canopy makes things much less awkward. It sits solidly in my hand and hasn't flipped over in the wind I've used it in. Overall its a good buy - I'm satisfied and would happily get another.
Austin Braun
Build feels good.
Build feels good. A year of occasional use and its still looking fine, including on windy days. A little chunkier than I expected folded up. People EVERYWHERE seem curious about the oval handle, museums, conferences, airports, even walking down the street. I keep noticing them looking twice when im carrying it around. s

Does what I need and looks good doing it.
A handy size umbrella, not much bother to carry and it dries out quickly. Does what I need and looks good doing it. The green is even nicer than the picture suggested. There's a button to spring it open, which is useful, and packing it up again is simple once the canopy has closed and I've shortened the stem.
Howard Jensen
A really nice umbrella.
A really nice umbrella. I'm very pleased with buying it and how quickly it arrived.
The little sleeve it comes with probably won't get much use from me, i just can't be bothered putting it back inside every time - lol
It's a good one. Living in the desert means i'll only need it a handful of times each year, but it's staying in my car ready for those days! Love the gray shade!
Rose Whitney
Neatly made and folds away well.
Neatly made and folds away well. I generally lean towards something pocket sized, after a tiny umbrella came in so handy during a surprise downpour in Rome. This won't be that pocket umbrella for me, though it's still much easier to pack than a full length one. Happy with it.
Jocelyn Mora
Thinking about a beige one for another friend now.
I bought one for myself and another for a friend, we are both delightful with them. Thinking about a beige one for another friend now. These are lovely, only wish the folded size was a little shorter for my bag because I keep putting umbrellas down somewhere and then forgetting them.
Kenneth Long
I'm pleased with it, and it arrived in only a few days.
The green is really pretty. It has a clean, cheerful look without being fussy. A press of the button puts it up quickly and it packs away small enough for my tote or a roomy purse. It seems well put together. I generally go for full length umbrellas, as the little folding ones often seem flimsy and leave too much of me out in the rain. This one actually feels useful, not just something to carry in case. I'm pleased with it, and it arrived in only a few days.
Kurt Dougherty
A good, solid umbrella with enough canopy to cover me properly.
A good, solid umbrella with enough canopy to cover me properly. It has handled breezy rain nicely, though I wouldn't treat any umbrella as immune to turning inside out. There is some weight to it, so my hand notices after a while. Still pleased with the quality.
Philip Lynch
Apart from that I'm happy with it.
Feels like a quality umbrella, but folded it still takes up some LENGTH. My big work bag only really accommodates it at an angle, which surprised me for a compact one. Apart from that I'm happy with it. No chance to try it in serious wind yet, but on the usual wet, breezy commute it has done exactly what I needed.
Katie Lee
He came back less impressed than I had been.
After going through the reviews I decided to try this, although I wasn't expecting anything amazing for the money. We're in Florida and with the rainy season coming I wanted an umbrella ready rather than waiting until we needed one. It arrived looking much as I'd expected, pink without being too bright, and a few tries in the house seemed fine. The button was quick and there seemed to be enough coverage. Then we had some rain this week, not a particularly windy storm, and my husband took it out. He came back less impressed than I had been. Keeping dry wasn't the problem; it was putting it away afterwards. Pressing the button brought the canopy in, but he hadn't realised that the telescoping part still needed pressing down manually. I had a go when he got home, partly because it had seemed so straightforward when I tested it dry. It works as intended, but I can see why he found that last part a nuisance with wet hands. There's nothing actually wrong with it, and I'll keep using it, but the whole process isn't quite as effortless as I imagined from reading about the automatic closing. Somewhere in the middle for me rather than something I'd rush to recommend.
Kent Mullen
I call this my SHADE umbrella.
After having several spots removed, my dermatologist warned me about spending time in the sun. I teach in Texas and go outside with the students daily, so wanted a better option for shade. I call this my SHADE umbrella. Positives: a lot less glare, more comfortable underneath, button opening and canopy closing, easy to carry folded, fabric feels good. Negatives: wind can get underneath, so I need to keep a good hold. I use it mainly for the sun and am enjoying it very much. Would recommend for anyone who wants some shade while standing out in the heat.
Diana Mclaughlin
It looks lovely in pink and gives me more cover.
The umbrella I had before this flipped inside out in a rainstorm and I couldn't get it right again. Replaced it with this one.It looks lovely in pink and gives me more cover. The button works smoothly, both to put it up and bring the canopy down. Really simple to use and a cheerful thing to take out in the rain!
Zoe Galvan
This one has worked out well for him.
My son needed an umbrella for college, where he seems to get plenty of wet and breezy weather. I've used compact umbrellas for years and wanted something that felt substantial without being a nuisance to carry. This one has worked out well for him. It packs away neatly and the loop handle is handy when he's carrying his things. The blue also happens to suit his college colours, which was a nice bonus.
Carolyn Cortez
not enormous but wider open than it seems folded.
the umbrella is nicely made and matches what I expected, except I didn't think about the space around me. took it to an outdoor weekend convention, with people close by, and kept having to say sorry when I moved it. not enormous but wider open than it seems folded. still glad I bought it, just need to mind other people.

The umbrella was for my granddaughter's third birthday.
The umbrella was for my granddaughter's third birthday. Her request was a cream white one, and this looked like just the thing. I liked the neat appearance when it arrived and it seems nicely made. We help her with the button and folding it away, but she loves having her own umbrella to hold. There was rain that same evening and, of course, she wanted to go straight out and see how it worked. A few days afterwards she was using it as a parasol in the sunshine as well. There is plenty of cover over her, which I'm happy about. I'm pleased it can be used for both and hope she'll enjoy it for a good long while.

The qulity gives me the good feeling of a realy decent umbrella again.
My gray umbrella got lost last year and i picked this one to replace it. The qulity gives me the good feeling of a realy decent umbrella again. It does manage wind, from what i seen, but I wouldnt expect miracles in every gust. For normal rainy days its been a very good one

Closing the canopy is easy
A good Father's Day present for my husband The frame feels sturdy and it pops open without any fuss. He'll appreciate a little shade on his bald head, as well as keeping the rain off. I wondered whether it would cover enough, but there is room for him to hold our toddler on the short walk into daycare. The green is cheerful without being too much. Closing the canopy is easy; pushing the telescoping section down afterwards needs a firmer shove. We're always misplacing umbrellas, and the ones that stay in the house tend to become pretend swords despite everything we say. So I didn't want to spend a fortune.Price seemed sensible for something that's going to get ordinary family use rather than be treated like treasure.

Love having my own little patch of shade!
Love having my own little patch of shade! Sun sensitivity means I have to think about covering up every time I go out in daylight. Holding this above me is so much nicer than wrapping something round my head and face. I still take care in the sun, but it makes being outside more comfortable. It looks neat too and I've had nice comments about it. Best of all my hair isn't squashed flat just because I wanted some shade. Easy to bring along and easy to use. I would happily buy the same one again!
Alyssa Pace
Rain hasn't been a worry with this one so far.
Rain hasn't been a worry with this one so far. It feels sturdy when the wind picks up, although I wouldn't take that as an invitation to test it in a storm. The sleeve is useful for putting it away. A bit heavier than my usual little folding umbrella and not the cheapest, but I'm pleased with it! Keeping this one as a spare, with an umbrella at home and another in the car.
Zoe Lutz
A nicely sized umbrella, with a solid feel to it.
A nicely sized umbrella, with a solid feel to it.The finish looks good and nothing about it feels flimsy. No wet or windy outing with it yet, so my opinion on that side will have to wait. I expect it will be fine for normal use, provided you don't ask it to cope with a storm.
One caution though: give it room when opening. That spring sends it out very quickly. I'd keep it well clear of faces, especially around children, and wouldn't press the button sitting inside the car or with the umbrella caught beside an open door. Point it into a clear space first. There is a rather satisfying thump as it spreads out.
Pressing the button again gathers the canopy neatly. The telescoping section then needs pushing down by hand to make it compact again. That's just the closing routine, not a problem. I'd watch where my thumb is while doing that, and keep a careful hold of the folded fabric while fastening it and putting it away. Securing the fabric before shortening the shaft may be the easier order, rather than risking a stray press of the button.
Happy to recommend it. Seems a good, substantial little umbrella, just use some care with that quick opening
Jacqueline Stephens
Haven't tried them for a full day yet, but first impressions are good.
The three umbrellas have arrived and the green is just what I hoped for - love it! Tried opening and shutting all of them a few times and everything worked fine. These are for my daughter's college graduation in a football stadium, whatever the weather decides to do. It sounds like a long ceremony so we may need shade, or something to keep the rain off. I'm also hoping she can pick out our three green canopies in the stands. Haven't tried them for a full day yet, but first impressions are good.
Nancy Estrada
Attractive appearance, and the construction seems solid.
Attractive appearance, and the construction seems solid. Pressing the button puts it up, and another press gathers the canopy neatly. The telescoping shaft still needs a manual push to reset. Fine for me, though that part takes some effort and could be awkward with weaker hands.

I needed another umbrella after misplacing my old one.
I needed another umbrella after misplacing my old one. I tend to hang on to umbrellas for years and have ended up using a few that family no longer wanted. So I look for something worth keeping rather than something disposable. This one feels well put together and opens very easily. I'm happy with it so far and expect to get plenty of use from it.
