The new ones feel sturdy and are convenient to have around.

These have been a useful replacement for the umbrella I managed to lose. That old one had lasted me more than six years and went out whenever it rained, which is often here. The new ones feel sturdy and are convenient to have around. My only real reservation is the space underneath when there's another person with me. They're fine for me alone, but there's less room to share than I was used to, and I find the canopy sits a little nearer my head.

People keep saying its a nice umbrella too..

Was happy when it turned up, its a real nice umbrella and feels good quality. A little more to carry than I thought but not enough to bother me..I been taking it out when its hot for some shade and it looks so nice. People keep saying its a nice umbrella too..Worth getting! Im thinking green for the next one.

This is a good buy.

This is a good buy. I particularly like the button opening, press once and it's up. The canopy is a decent size but I'd have liked a bigger one. It also gives useful shade, which was important to me. Quality is good -not quite the best I've seen, but the size helped settle it. Happy with it on the whole.

Worth every penny to me.

Worth every penny to me. Folds up neatly and opens out to a good size at a press of the button. Another press gathers the canopy, then you compress the stem yourself to pack it away. It feels solid as well, not flimsy at all. No regrets...I'd recommend picking one up!

In the supermarket I felt in everyone's way until I folded it up.

I wanted an umbrella with room for my wife and me, and this has a decent spread when open. In the supermarket I felt in everyone's way until I folded it up. It's a nice solid umbrella, although for two people it's still a squeeze. I'd say it's better as a roomy umbrella for one than something to share comfortably.

Brandy Yu

This looks a sensible size and feels quite solid opened up.

Looking for an umbrella to take on vacation, I wanted something that wouldn't be a nuisance to pack. This looks a sensible size and feels quite solid opened up. Spring weather away from home can be anyone's guess. Four stars for now, as it hasn't actually been out in the rain with us yet.

the beige on top is nice.

Pretty umbrella but I was a little let down by how dark it looks underneath... the beige on top is nice. Probably not something I'd even think about if I had bought it just for rain, but mine was meant to be a birthday party decoration and the appearance mattered most. I changed where I put it so the underside wasn't as noticeable. It looked nice enough in the end, just not quite what I had pictured.

She's stayed dry and the frame feels reassuring rather than flimsy.

Bought this for my wife and it has been very useful through the rainy San Francisco winter. She's stayed dry and the frame feels reassuring rather than flimsy. The one drawback is that it takes up a little more room in her bag than she would like. It folds down, just not to one of those tiny sizes you can forget about. Otherwise she finds it straightforward to use and I'd still be happy to buy another.

This is such a nice umbrella.

This is such a nice umbrella. It has a solid feel to it and looks cute as well. I feel nicely sheltered when the rain is coming at an angle, and it dosn't seem to fight me in a breeze. Had a few compliments on it already. Would happily have another and recommnd it to anyone looking for a sturdy everyday umbrella.

Would happily come back!

Opened the umbrella expecting it might look a bit cheap and I was so wrong, it looks really nice and I love it! I think this makes number four in this sort of style, mine keep going missing so somebody else must like them too but I wish they would get their own, I want to hang onto this one for a while, I picked blue and it is just what I wanted, now I am thinking my 15 year old daughter needs one of her own, I LOVE IT YES I DO, it got here quickly too, thank you! Would happily come back!

Excellent umbrellas!

I got one for each of my daughters at college and both are delighted. They especially like the button opening, no wrestling with it when the rain starts. There's good cover over their heads and shoulders, and they say it feels sturdy without being a nuisance to carry. Excellent umbrellas!

Everything arrived well protected and in perfect shape.

Bought it for my son's school days and it seems great. We get so much rain and wind in Valdivia, Chile, so I'm hoping it will hold up well. The button sends it open quite sharply at first, but it works nicely. It closes the canopy too, then the telescoping part needs pushing down manually with a little effort. Everything arrived well protected and in perfect shape.

The green looked quieter on my screen (I should know better by now), so it was a bit of a surprise in person. I was imagining a soft leafy green, and to me this is more of a Bright Green. Nice enough, and I like using the umbrella, but not quite the discreet colour I had in mind. Worth considering if you wanted something that blends in with everything.

This umbrella makes rainy days less annoying!

This umbrella makes rainy days less annoying! Its sturdy, not a burden to carry and the green looks great. I actually want an excuse to take it out. People seem to notice it on the pavement, so theres less of that awkward umbrella bumping as we pass. I've noticed a few water marks, but thats probably me not drying it properly before putting it away. Still think its a brilliant umbrella!

Dillon Vazquez

Surprisingly sturdy umbrella.

Surprisingly sturdy umbrella. My daughter is three and most of its outings so far have been around the house. In her games it becomes a wand, a broom, or whatever she's thought of that day. It has survived being carried about and put down everywhere, and it has kept her covered in the rain too. I do help with the button and putting it away, so not quite something she can manage entirely alone. Seems solid overall.

Kristine Lynn

Nothing fancy to say beyond that, it's just a nicely made umbrella.

After spending money on umbrellas that never felt worth keeping, I finally looked around for a better one. This was a bit of a treat to myself, and yes, it feels worth it! The opening action has a satisfying swish and the whole thing feels substantial without being a nuisance to carry. The gray looks smart rather than dull. Nothing fancy to say beyond that, it's just a nicely made umbrella. I'd happily choose another as a present.

Yes, we have been known to get some rain.

I wanted to put down a bit more than “nice umbrella,” because that doesn't tell anybody very much. I got this for my wife, and it has had regular use here in the Pacific Northwest. Yes, we have been known to get some rain. My interest was in how it worked as an everyday umbrella, not in finding some spectacular way to test it. For the record, it has not been: 1) used to support anybody's weight. 2) swung at anything. 3) put through a deliberate wind test. 4) treated as a substitute walking stick. 5) left out to fend for itself in a storm. 6) subjected to anything beyond normal umbrella duty. I mention that because there is a difference between saying something works well in everyday use and pretending you have proved it can survive absolutely anything. I am talking about the former. The first thing that impressed me was the operation. Press the button and it opens without having to reach up into the mechanism and arrange things. When you are finished, another press folds the canopy. You then push the telescoping sections together yourself. That last part is worth understanding before you use it. The button closes the fabric section; it does not pull the entire umbrella down into its shortest position. Once I had gone through the process, the arrangement made sense. Well, that is all very nice, but opening and closing wouldn't mean much if my wife didn't like using the thing. She does. The canopy gives her useful coverage, and the umbrella is compact enough when folded that taking it along isn't a whole production. It is not something she has to leave behind simply because she doesn't want to carry a long umbrella around. I also like that the handle is a closed loop. It looks a little different from the sort of umbrella handle I am accustomed to, but it gives a comfortable, definite place to hold. Nothing elaborate to explain there. The sleeve is useful for putting it away after it has dried, and the whole thing packs up neatly. These are small details, granted, but small details count on an object you actually use. Now, fair-minded fellow that I try to be, I am not going to declare that an umbrella will last forever because it has given us good service. Nor am I going to turn ordinary rain into some extraordinary test of engineering. What I can say is that it has been convenient, it has kept my wife dry, and using it hasn't become an exercise in fiddling with catches and fabric. Those are the things I wanted from it. In fact, the more ordinary the experience has been, the more satisfied I am. You take it, open it, use it, and put it away. No grand adventure required. I tend to notice everyday purchases most when they become a nuisance, and this one has instead earned its place among the things we keep ready to use. So there you have it. A fairly long explanation for a straightforward conclusion: my wife likes her umbrella, I am happy I got it for her, and I would make the same choice again.

This black umbrella looks so elegant opened up.

I enjoy beautiful things. A pretty Lamp or a pleasing shape. This black umbrella looks so elegant opened up. People have admired it, and it does its practical job well too. I have decorative lamps at home, so simple design matters to me. Saw this online and thought "that's mine!" Needed a new umbrella and have been happy every time I've used it

Mom loved the umbrella I gave her for her birthday.

Mom loved the umbrella I gave her for her birthday. I've been happy with these umbrellas myself, haven't had trouble with any and it's um ... four now I think. I keep telling myself that's enough but they look so nice I could quite easily start collecting them. Now I need NEED a big beach version as well, then I could sit under one instead of just carrying one around!

Jo Kent

The stitching looks tidy to me and the colour is nice in person.

This is a little different from the children's umbrellas we have used before. The handle is a closed oval loop instead of a curved end, and the pink looks cheerful in person. My son is delighted with it! We have been through several umbrellas for him and I wanted something that seemed more substantial. The frame on this one gives me that impression, though time will tell. It is not a tiny toddler sized umbrella, so there is a decent amount of fabric over him when he holds it. Opening is straightforward with the button and another press brings the canopy in. The shaft still needs pushing down by hand to finish putting it away. For me the button is simpler than trying to press on a little metal catch. The stitching looks tidy to me and the colour is nice in person. I cannot say how it will look after months of use, but my first impression is a very good one.

for the rain its been great and i keep reaching for it.

been using this since last year and its still going strong. feels proper sturdy not flimsy when its open. i dont enjoy getting it back in the sleeve much but thats a small thing. people notice it and ask about it which is funny its only an umbrella. my lil bro has waved it round plenty too and it still looks good. not saying thats what u should do with it hahah . for the rain its been great and i keep reaching for it. i like that it packs away but opens up to a decent size. any way very happy with mine . would tell anyone wanting an umbrella to give it a look

Donna Jarvis

at least the actual rain part has been fine.

I've only carried this umbrella here and there over the last month. It works well when I need it, but I was hoping for something that I would hardly notice carrying. This is not quite that. After a while I find myself wishing it were lighter, which is annoying when it is meant to come along just in case. Eventually I stopped keeping it in my hand the whole time and put it away between uses (which is probably what I should have done to begin with). That has made carrying it much easier. It opens promptly and I have no complaint about staying dry under it. It is a nice umbrella, just NOT the featherweight thing I had pictured...at least the actual rain part has been fine.

Tracy Wilkins

A few months in and we're happy with it.

A few months in and we're happy with it. Nothing troublesome so far, and the frame feels more substantial than I expected. It goes into a backpack or a larger purse without much fuss. Two of us can share if we stand close together. still want to see how it does through more wet weather before getting another, but it's looking promising.

Raymond Lloyd

Very happy I went with this one!

Needed an umbrella for our engagement photos and the beige looked just right. I was excited to try it out! The size worked really well and it feels much nicer than I expected!! Didn't mind spending the money once I had it in my hands. It looks lovely in the pictures too :] And it is a useful umbrella afterwards, not just something for the photos. Very happy I went with this one!

Nancy Villanueva

I wanted a roomy green umbrella and this suits me nicely.

Well, mine has been around for over a year and came out again two nights ago! Still a favourite. I wanted a roomy green umbrella and this suits me nicely. Two of us can tuck under it if we stay close, then it folds down to leave in the car or at work. Love it... money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

Bridget Weeks

She was so pleased.

We looked in several shops for an unbrella for our little grand daughter and ended up finding this online. Gave it to her on her second birthday. No rain that day but she still wanted to go outside with it. She was so pleased. Feels well made, and with us helping her use the button she gets her little bit of shade.

Charlotte Rush

The good points are pretty straightforward.

I've added another pair to the ones I already have, which probably says more about my opinion than anything else. I live in Oregon, where an umbrella gets used rather than just carried around in case. Between walks across campus and going in and out of buildings, mine gets opened and put away a lot. I want decent coverage, but I don't want something enormous to haul around all day. The good points are pretty straightforward. There's room under it for me and my bag, or another person if we're willing to stand close. Folded up, it's a manageable thing to carry. It feels substantial without being something I resent taking along, and the flexible ribs have coped well with the gusts I've encountered in normal use. The automatic opening is especially useful at a doorway. That said, I wouldn't confuse a sturdy umbrella with something that makes wind irrelevant. You still need to pay attention to which way you're holding it. In really unpleasant weather I keep it angled toward the rain rather than expecting it to look after itself. That's not a complaint, exactly -- just something worth remembering before judging any handheld umbrella by what happens in a storm. The other consideration is putting it away. Being compact doesn't mean it disappears into an already full bag. I use the sleeve instead of shoving the folded umbrella in among everything else, because loose fabric and bag contents aren't a particularly good combination. Also, the button shuts the canopy, but you finish by pushing the shaft back down by hand. Once that's done, it packs away neatly enough. I'd rather take a moment over that than yank it in and out of a crowded bag. None of those little practical points changes my recommendation. For someone who spends a fair amount of time walking in rain, it's a very useful umbrella. These will certainly get their share of use!

Dillon Wolf

Keeps me dry while I'm holding it, nothing complicated.

Being a keen backpacker I wanted an umbrella that was tough without being a pain to carry. This one suits me for standing around camp or just chillin out in a field when the rain starts. Keeps me dry while I'm holding it, nothing complicated. Thinking about another for my second cousin who's starting to get interested in outdoor stuff like me. His birthday is coming so that would sort the present out. Also it wasn't expensive. Not expensive at all

Jaclyn Braun

Packing it away is the less easy part for me.

Really like this umbrella, it pops up with a satisfying snap (!) and feels quite solid (the button wants a definite press).I've used it in some wind and it has done well. Packing it away is the less easy part for me. I need to smooth the folds down properly before putting the sleeve on, otherwise I'm fiddling about with the fabric. Not a reason to stop using it, just takes more care than I expected when I'm trying to get it all put away.

Drew Berger

The windy-day test is still to come, but I'm impressed!

Worth saying first that I haven't tested it in strong wind, so my opinion is based on ordinary rain.It opens quickly and the canopy closes with a press too, handy when I need a free hand. Once out, there is plenty of cover, yet it isn't a nuisance to pack away. Nothing has annoyed me about it so far. The windy-day test is still to come, but I'm impressed!

Barbara Stewart

I have a longer umbrella as well as this compact one.

I have a longer umbrella as well as this compact one. Both have been useful, and I like this one for the car.***update:Still have it, although after moving from Germany to the states it didn't come out very often. In Florida it makes more sense to keep it handy again. It has lasted well, but to be fair it hasn't seen much use over those last three years

Gail Grimes

I've had mine a few years and it's been a very worthwhile umbrella.

I've had mine a few years and it's been a very worthwhile umbrella. After buying plenty of flimsy ones, I appreciate something that feels dependable and hasn't flipped on the windy days I've used it. It's a little heavier to carry, which is my only real reservation. I picked the black one as a gift for my daughter. She walks across an open car park to her work building, with nothing much to shelter her, so having decent cover matters. I feel good about her having one of these for that walk.

Sara Lester

No letup, so out came the unbrella.

My wife first thought it was a little flag then said "that's bigger than I expected"! We had errands Friday and a good walk across a parking lot, pouring rain so we waited in the car. No letup, so out came the unbrella. We tucked in close and shared it for the walk, not loads of spare room for two but she was glad of it then. For oneperson it's a comfortable amount of cover. My surprize was that it didn't feel much to hold, and folds back down instead of staying that size. Gray is a nice plain colour too, this is staying in the car for the wet days

oh wow okaySo this umbrella is pretty GREAT and opens up to a proper useful size without being some giant thing to lug around ( which I appreciate )The button does the opening for me and the whole frame feels firm, not like flimsy stuff at all. I can stand under it with my camera and get on with filming nature in the rain without worrying about every little drop( obviously I still have to hold it over the camera )Really pleased with this one, it folds away nicely too and the whole thing feels thought out (:For what I paid I honestly think I did pretty well

Carrie Wyatt

There is plenty of cover for me without a lot of weight to carry.

Opens out much bigger than you'd think from the folded size! There is plenty of cover for me without a lot of weight to carry. It springs open quickly--I leave a bit of space around it before pressing the button. Another press shuts the canopy, and pushing the shaft back in by hand isn't difficult. Not limited to rainy days, either. I've used it for shade, and my children have even taken it into the backyard while they picnic on the lawn. (Their own little shady spot, I suppose!)It feels well made and I expect to get plenty of use out of it.

Joan Owen

Good coverage for me and possibly another person close alongside.

Good coverage for me and possibly another person close alongside. only thing i had to think about was the oval handle, it feels different from the usual grip and i wasn't sure i'd like holding it for any length of time. It's comfortable once i'm using it though, so overall i'm very pleased with the umbrella.

Leah Fleming

In general pleased with them.

Another parcel today; several umbrellas together this time, two, three, four, five, I had to count them again. All looks fine. I recommend these, will probably be getting more in the next lot. Five came together before and these are the same, folded up neatly and ready to use. I was thinking ten more so there is enough, though at first I thought the count was not right. Checked again and it was fine, just me counting the separate lots. I have already bought ten before this, then there were the other ones, so yes it is quite a few umbrellas now. Opened a few to look and everything seems normal. Some are still folded because I don't need them all open at once. In general pleased with them. I was going to query one of the quantities but went back through what I had bought and it made sense later. Ten first and then twenty, that was it. I recommend them.

Bernard Goodwin

Everyone in the house borrows them, not only for golf.

For the price I wasn't expecting a lot, but these are getting used constantly and have held up nicely. Everyone in the house borrows them, not only for golf. One lives with the golf cart, one near the door for dog outings, and the other stays in the car for those times you forget to bring an umbrella.

Zoe Webster

Turned up when I expected and was packed well.

Turned up when I expected and was packed well. Bigger when open than I thought, which I'm glad about! The cream white looks lovely even on a miserable rainy day. Used it twice so far and operating it has been straightforward. There's a sleeve to put it in afterwards. Five (5) stars from me, it was better than I'd hoped.

Sheryl Keller

It has been working smoothly and I have had no problems at all.

Be sure to push the shaft right back into its resting position after the canopy has closed, since pressing the button to close it does not shorten the shaft. . . The telescoping section is reset by hand, then the umbrella is ready for the next opening. It has been working smoothly and I have had no problems at all.

Taylor Lamb

Looks lovely and does the job really well.

Looks lovely and does the job really well. It was with us quickly too, which was nice. The black has a smart finish and look more expensive than it was. Opening it is very straightforward, just a press of the button and you're ready. I wondered whether that loop handle would make it feel bulky, but in use the weight seems quite manageable. Very happy with the choice for the money.

Phyllis Mooney

My daughters were really pleased when they opened them.

I chose three blue umbrellas for Christmas presents. There was some confusion over them at first, but the seller sorted it out and they were here for Christmas. My daughters were really pleased when they opened them. They look nicely put together and feel durable. I'm pleased I picked these and plan to get some for the rest of the family next Christmas.

Wyatt Pace

I'd recommend it as a useful umbrella rather than something tiny.

It opens out to a good size, especially considering that it folds down. I wouldn't call it a beach umbrella, but it gives me a comfortable patch of shade when I'm holding it. The beige is pleasant and the whole thing feels nicely made. Not something I'd put in my smallest purse, so mine will mostly stay in the car ready to grab. It doesn't feel heavy for the amount of cover it gives. We'll take it along on family outings for both showers and sunshine. I can also see it being handy watching an outdoor game, when you're just sitting there with no shade nearby. I'd recommend it as a useful umbrella rather than something tiny. Hopefully one we'll have around for quite a while.

Umbrellas just get in my way on rainy Manhattan walks.

Umbrellas just get in my way on rainy Manhattan walks. And whenever I find one I don't mind carrying, I manage to leave it somewhere. My wife and I were going to France to see her family and she warned me we'd probably have rain. That sent me looking for something compact, but not so tiny that sharing it was out of the question. This one tucked into my carry-on without much fuss. We arrived in Paris after the train journey from Marseille, hungry and still feeling the travel. And yes, rain. There wasn't evening room service at our hotel, so out we went with the umbrella. I wasn't expecting much, honestly. We stayed close together and it gave us decent cover on the walk, which was a relief when all we wanted was dinner and bed. The button closing the canopy was my favourite bit!!! Much nicer than trying to gather everything up in a doorway. You compress the telescoping part yourself afterwards, but that doesn't take away from how handy it is. Opening it is quick too. I also liked the enclosed loop handle, easy to keep hold of, and the sleeve tidies it up for packing. Nothing elaborate, just useful little things. Naturally, after all that, I left it behind once we were home in New York. Apparently I haven't changed. At least now I know which umbrella I want to replace it with. I'll be getting another!

Seth Reyes

Eventually I decided a small upgrade was probably worth it.

The small umbrella I kept in my work bag was convenient right up until it rained properly. I could cover myself, or move it sideways to protect the bag on my shoulder, but getting both under it was a nuisance. Eventually I decided a small upgrade was probably worth it. This one has been a pretty good compromise. It opens out with enough coverage that I am not continually shifting it about as I walk. Not enormous, but much more useful than the little canopy I was putting up with. Folded, it is around 40cm long, so it goes into my laptop bag without needing a separate place to carry it. That was quite important to me; I didn't want a long umbrella to remember every time I left somewhere. Rain has run off the material well, the loop handle feels substantial, and the button has worked consistently. You press to open it and again to collapse the canopy, then push the telescoping part in yourself. Fairly straightforward once you've done it. The drawback for me is that it feels heavier in the bag than my previous one. Nothing terrible, just noticeable when the laptop and everything else are already in there. Still, I would rather carry that little extra than arrive with a wet shoulder and damp bag. The black is suitably unobtrusive for work too. PROS: + Useful coverage without carrying a full-length umbrella + Button operation is handy + Plain black suits me CONS: - Not the lightest thing in an already loaded bag

Judith Gay

Quite a lot of umbrella once it's open!

Quite a lot of umbrella once it's open! But seriously, I like it, just three things to bear in mind:It folds down, but not tiny enough for my smallest bag.The button pulls the canopy in, then you have to push the shaft down yourself.when it's wet, let it dry before putting it back in the sleeve, it isn't magically dry just because it's folded.Hope that is useful.OH and there's a bit of weight to it, not something you forget you're holding. None of that has put me off, the coverage is good and it feels like a proper umbrella rather than a flimsy thing.

Rain beads up and runs off this fabric much better than on my older umbrellas. It feels solid in use, and the oval handle is surprisingly comfortable to hold. Slightly bulkier than I'd hoped when packed, but overall I'm impressed with the construction and how dry it keeps me.

wasn't sure she'd find one she liked as much!!

Gave this to my daughter for her graduation and she's been delighted with it. She's a musician and had admired some compact umbrellas at an audition... wasn't sure she'd find one she liked as much!! She says this is exactly what she wanted, and she started carrying it as soon as she unpacked it. Really lovely to give something that is appreciated and used straight away!!

Joy Sosa

SHE HAS BEEN GETTING NICE COMMENTS WHEN SHE USES IT.

MY WIFE AND I CHOSE THIS FOR MY MOTHER AT CHRISTMAS AND THE QUALITY REALLY PLEASED US. THE GREEN LOOKS BEAUTIFUL WHEN IT IS UP. SHE LIKES THE BUTTON THAT OPENS AND CLOSES THE CANOPY AND THE HANDLE FEELS SOLID. IT COMES WITH A SLEEVE TO PUT IT IN AS WELL. SHE HAS BEEN GETTING NICE COMMENTS WHEN SHE USES IT. I THINK IT WAS MONEY WELL SPENT AND WOULD RECOMEND IT TO ANYONE AFTER A WELL MADE UMBRELLA. WE DEFINITELY PICKED THE RIGHT ONE FOR HER!!!

I got a few funny looks for bringing an umbrella backpacking...then the afternoon showers came along...suddenly it didn't seem such a silly idea! Around western north carolina those short bursts of rain can mean stopping to dig out raingear, getting all bundled up, and then stopping again when the sun comes back. I keep this where I can reach it on the side of my pack. Press the button, hold it up, keep walking. Much less fuss for a passing shower, and I don't get that hot, sticky feeling from wearing a rain jacket when it's still warm out. It's not going to cover every bit of a loaded pack, but it keeps the rain off my head and shoulders nicely. At night I still have my tarp, with the umbrella beside my head if rain blows in. Friends who laughed at the idea have ended up wanting umbrellas themselves. I'll keep taking mine!
