Bought it for painting outdoors.

Bought it for painting outdoors. Gives me the shade I wanted, though I still need a way of supporting it by my chair or tripod. My husband thinks he can sort something out. The green canopy looks nice, and I'm hoping the black underneath won't interfere with judging colours (we'll see.) It seems sturdy and the price suited me.

No seams coming apart or anything like that.

Spending a bit more on umbrellas makes sense to me, saves having to replace them so often. This one has been my everyday umbrella for several years now and is still holding together very nicely. No seams coming apart or anything like that. It gets borrowed by the family too, so it's not only me getting use out of it.

An easy product to recommend.

The cream white umbrella was a gift for my girlfriend and she was delighted with it. It feels well put together and the button works smoothly. She's taken it out on wet, windy days and it has kept its shape, rather than turning over on her. An easy product to recommend. Five stars from me.

A handy travel umbrella overall.

It isn't quite as rigid as my old full length umbrella, though folding ones are new to me. I needed something for the laptop bag on work trips and it fits in there fine. Being able to open it AND collapse the canopy with a button is especially useful when getting into a taxi or through a revolving door. A handy travel umbrella overall.

I wanted one to keep in the car pocket for those sudden downpours here in South Florida. It's been great so far and hasn't flipped inside out, even in strong wind. Bigger than other folding umbrellas I've used, so two people can squeeze underneath when they need to.

Jocelyn Mcguire

Having it here now I like it very much.

I had my doubts looking at the pictures, wasn't certain how good it would be. Having it here now I like it very much. Family and friends have been asking where I found it, they seem to want one too. It has been good in the rain and feels strong, therefore I would be happy to purchase another one.

Very useful when the rain and wind come together.

Several months with this umbrella now and nothing to complain about. It gives a good amount of cover, although carrying it around all day does add a bit of weight. Very useful when the rain and wind come together. I've owned other ordinary umbrellas and they haven't felt nearly as reassuring in the hand. This one feels more substantial, and the flexible frame has coped well with the windy days I've used it on. I don't always take it when the forecast is half sunshine, half showers, since i'd rather carry less on those days. When it is properly wet outside though, i'm always glad I brought this one along.

I keep it in its sleeve there and don't find the weight bothersome.

I had my previous umbrella for about 12 years before leaving it somewhere, so I'm hoping to get that sort of use out of this one too. Losing them seems to be my problem rather than wearing them out. This fits into the side compartment of my work backpack without rearranging everything. I keep it in its sleeve there and don't find the weight bothersome. Once it's out, a press of the button opens it right up. Another press gathers the canopy when I reach the office door. (You still have to shorten the shaft by hand afterwards.)That's handy for getting inside without wrestling with a wet umbrella. The open size suits me, although I wouldn't want to share it with another adult for a long walk. Most days it's only me going to work anyway. A sensible replacement and good value, provided I manage to hang on to this one.

This is the one that's actually stood up to the wind.

I've bought more than ten umbrellas this past year in Boston, little ones and big ones, cheap and expensive. This is the one that's actually stood up to the wind. Seemed like a lot to spend at first but replacing one every month soon adds up to the same money...I've been using this for six months now and seen other people struggling with umbrellas blown out of shape while mine stayed put. Worth paying a little more for something that holds up.

Excellent umbrellas for what they cost.

Excellent umbrellas for what they cost. They live up to the description. Used mine yesterday in rain and a bit of wind and came home impressed. Almost like carrying my own little roof around - I'm not a petite girl, but it covered me comfortably without being a giant umbrella to lug about. That's exactly what I need through our wet Northwest winters. I would certainly recommend one.

Tracie Bowen

Probably my favourite umbrella so far.

Probably my favourite umbrella so far. With my old one, wind meant holding it at a ridiculous angle just to stop it going inside out, which didn't leave much protection from the rain. This one has been much less of a battle. I can feel gusts tugging at it, but the frame flexes and carries on covering me instead of folding backwards. It feels properly built, not flimsy. There is a little more weight than in some compact umbrellas, but for the difference in use I'm quite happy to carry it.

Stefanie Juarez

It's a good automatic umbrella and I've used these several times.

I got mine at a reduced price, though it seemed to be cheaper again when I checked later. It's a good automatic umbrella and I've used these several times. A little heavy, and resetting the telescoping shaft after the canopy closes needs some force. Fine for adults, but I would help a child with that part. My previous one is still doing well after more than a year, so I got this as a spare in case I need it later. Nothing wrong with the old one yet. I can recommend it.

Hi all,The new umbrella has arrived, Great feel to it.

Hi all,The new umbrella has arrived, Great feel to it.the oval loop handle is quite different from my old straight grip!It folds away neatly in my golf bag which is a big plus for me.Took it round this past weekend when we had some passing rain and was happy to stay dry while playing.nice bit of kit to have on the course.:)Regards,The dry golfer.

That's the kind of purchase I don't regret!

Living right by Chicago's lakefront made me choose this umbrella carefully. I was tired of carrying flimsy ones when the rain and wind picked up, so I spent some time looking before buying. This one has handled plenty of rainy days, and four years on I'm still using it. That's the kind of purchase I don't regret!

Collin Nunez

She likes the look of it too, so a good present all round.

Gave the green one to my girlfriend and she's very taken with it. The button is her favourite bit, apparently making it spring open has a bit of a lightsaber feel lol. I've used one myself and it's funny how much difference a decent umbrella makes when you never used to think about them at all. Feels solid, the canopy covers you properly and it hasn't tried turning itself upside down in the wind. Much nicer than wrestling with something flimsy while trying to stay dry. She likes the look of it too, so a good present all round.

Warren Archer

To be clear, this wasn't a problem with the umbrella working

I spent quite a while looking for a compact umbrella, so I had a fairly specific idea of what I wanted from this one. My main concern was having something that could stay in my bag rather than becoming another thing to carry separately. After reading through the details I decided to try it. The first thing I noticed was that compact doesn't necessarily mean as small as I had pictured. It fitted in my bag, but not in the space where I had intended to keep it, which was irritating given that portability was my reason for choosing it. To be clear, this wasn't a problem with the umbrella working; it was more a mismatch with what I had in mind. That said, using it in the rain has been straightforward. The canopy gives me enough cover, and I appreciate having a button to open it and draw the canopy shut. You still push the shaft down manually afterward. I eventually rearranged what was in my bag and found a place for it, so the original annoyance is sorted out. Overall, it isn't quite the tiny carry-around option I was hoping for, but I haven't had an issue with its actual use as an umbrella. If packed size matters most, I'd check that first.

Darrell Ware

That is how it works, not something the button does for you.

The Haven umbrella looks smart, with an oval loop handle rather than the traditional curved kind. It fits in my car's glove compartment, although there isn't much space left (worth checking your own compartment if that's where you plan to keep it). Pressing the button opens it out and extends it. Pressing again brings the canopy in, but the telescoping section still needs a firm push by hand to reset. That is how it works, not something the button does for you. I appreciate the fairly generous cover once it is open, especially compared with some very small folding umbrellas. Overall it feels thoughtfully put together and is comfortable to hold. I can't speak for years of wear yet, but the construction makes a good first impression.

Isabel Huang

I'm delighted with this umbrella.

I'm delighted with this umbrella. The big one I kept in my car finally wore out after years, and this looked like a lot of umbrella for the price. Very good value! It's BIG opened out, so there's plenty of cover in heavy rain, and one press has it opening smoothly by itself.Really glad I chose it.

Marilyn Fernandez

I'd recommend this umbrella!

There's a LOT of cover for something that folds up this small. I can stand underneath without rain dripping onto my shoulders, and it feels strong enough for those wet, blustery days. Definitely worth the money for how useful it is, and the quick opening makes it even better. I'd recommend this umbrella!

Roy Boyd

Handy umbrella, roomy enough for me with someone tucked in beside me.

Handy umbrella, roomy enough for me with someone tucked in beside me. Had it about a year and took it on two Hawaii trips, good for shade by the water. Sturdy, but it won't remind you to pick it up. Left mine in an airport shop and only remembered after boarding. Apparently it wanted a longer holiday. I'll be buying a replacement.

Stuart Stewart

This has been useful for the kids on wet days.

This has been useful for the kids on wet days. It isn't a tiny child-sized umbrella, but that is actually helpful when one lets a smaller sibling squeeze underneath. Both can stay covered if they walk together. I had wondered about the size from comments I read before buying, and I think it helps to separate how small it folds from how much room there is when open. It is manageable for mine to carry, and when we get where we're going they can put it away themselves instead of handing everything over to mom! I don't want to end up carrying everyone's umbrella as well as my own. So far it has worn well, opens without a struggle, and keeps the rain off. I would be comfortable recommending it.

Walter Meza

It does keep the rain off, so it's not a bad umbrella.

The green was what made me order this, I wanted something other than another dull umbrella. Colour is nice and the button opens it well. I'm less enthusiastic about carrying it around though. Folded up it's longer than I pictured, and the loop handle takes up more space in my bag than a straight one would. It does keep the rain off, so it's not a bad umbrella. For me it's more of a compromise on size than I expected, even though I still like the look of it.

Jane Neal

Cheap little umbrellas are everywhere, and most don't inspire much…

Cheap little umbrellas are everywhere, and most don't inspire much confidence. This one is worth keeping in your backpack or a roomy briefcase for the days you walk out without checking the damn forecast. It does take up some space, so don't expect something that disappears into a pocket. The coverage is fine for one person, not for sheltering half the street, which is probably a relief to everyone walking past. Mine has done well over a few years, although rain isn't an everyday thing where I live. I'd happily keep another in a different bag rather than forever moving this one around (and no, this isn't a sales pitch).

Dave Burch

In use it has been fine, including on breezy days.

I wasn't sure what to expect for the price, especially since i haven't really shopped for umbrellas before. There's a good amount of cover for me and the green is nice in person. The fabric feels more substantial than I thought it would, not that thin papery feeling. I was a bit doubtful about spending so little, but it's been a good buy.The shaft looks rather slim, so that was the one thing i wasn't sure of at first. In use it has been fine, including on breezy days. I'd probably land somewhere near four and a half stars if that was an option, but overall i'm happy and it seems like it should last.

Lindsey Griffin

This one opens to about 105cm, which is a useful middle ground for me.

Walking around New York calls for an umbrella that covers you without taking over the whole sidewalk. This one opens to about 105cm, which is a useful middle ground for me. There is more shelter than I get from the tiny umbrellas I keep tucked in a bag, but it isn't one of those enormous golf umbrellas that gets in everyone's way. I used a favorite umbrella for years and have found it surprisingly hard to find a replacement with that balance. The Haven folds down when I'm done, so I don't have to carry a long stick around after the rain stops. Its loop handle is comfortable enough, though a slightly thicker grip would suit my hand better. For the rainy, breezy days when I want decent coverage without the bulk, I'm very satisfied with it.

Seth Christian

Worth paying a little more.

Worth paying a little more. I live near the lake in Cleveland and work downtown, so an umbrella gets a fair test just walking around here. Cheap little ones have never felt up to much with the wind coming between buildings. Used this yesterday when it was pretty blustery and it felt reassuringly steady in my hand. Kept me covered, and I wasn't fighting it all the way to work. That's what I wanted!

Jill Kramer

Rain wasn't my only reason, either.

After dealing with a succession of umbrellas that weren't much use once the rain came in sideways, I wanted something I would actually bother carrying. Montana gives you enough opportunities to find out whether an umbrella is useful! Rain wasn't my only reason, either. Heat and I are not friends, and finding somewhere shaded can be surprisingly difficult when you're out with family. Size-wise, this is a personal umbrella, not a shelter for a whole group. There's room for me without having to hunch everything inward, but I wouldn't expect several adults to fit underneath. The advantage is that it folds into something manageable. I do appreciate a big umbrella, but there's something to be said for one that doesn't become a whole separate thing to lug around. The shade was particularly welcome over the summer. My mother-in-law was having treatment and needed to be careful about sun exposure, and my grandfather-in-law (96, and absolutely wonderful company) appreciated getting out of the direct sunshine too. I could hold it over the person who needed it rather than everyone having to find somewhere else to stand. Nothing complicated about that, but it made the umbrella useful more often than I'd originally expected. Having your face out of the sun is a considerable improvement when you already dislike hot weather! My main impression is that it's *solid*. Not enormous, not something I'd describe as feather-light, either. Carrying it folded is fine; keeping an arm raised with it for a long stretch is where I notice the weight. That was my one reservation when holding it for someone else. Some way of having shade overhead while leaving both hands free would certainly be welcome when sitting, although that is asking a handheld umbrella to be something else. For walking along with it, I haven't found the weight troublesome. I've been pleased with it in ordinary rain, and the extra usefulness on sunny days makes me glad I chose it. I'm planning to get another for my Dad, who finds the hotter months in Arizona hard on his skin. A much larger version over an outdoor table would be appealing, but this one makes sense for carrying. And, since I wondered about it myself: green outside, black underneath. I think the combination looks good. The inside isn't exactly the main attraction when I'm walking, though. I'd rather notice the pavement before I meet it. LOL.

Toni Benson

Very nice looking umbrella.

Very nice looking umbrella. The black is simple and smart. A press of the button gets it open, and once folded it is easy to take along in a tote or larger handbag. The whole thing feels well put together. I normally lean towards full length umbrellas, as folding ones can feel flimsy and leave your shoulders exposed, but this has a proper amount of cover and doesn't feel like a compromise. I'm happy with my choice. It came quickly as well, which was a nice bonus.

Frances Duncan

Only thing is, I'd prefer a little more coverage.

Previous umbrellas haven't lasted me very well, usually something starts coming loose after a while. This one has been through two seasons and still opens properly, with the fabric sitting neatly on the frame. It feels a lot more substantial. Only thing is, I'd prefer a little more coverage. In a heavy downpour my lower legs do still catch the rain, so its not quite ideal.

Jeanette Lozano

Much handier to keep in the car than the long ones.

Changing cars left me with umbrellas that wouldn't fit the new door pockets because they were too long. I picked up two of these and they tuck into the spaces properly. The button is useful for putting the canopy up, then gathering it before I get back in. Much handier to keep in the car than the long ones.

Ana Pierce

Where I live the wind can make a short walk in the rain miserable.

Where I live the wind can make a short walk in the rain miserable. Before this umbrella I usually just put my hood up and accepted getting wet. The train station is only five blocks away, but on a rainy day I'd even ask for a lift rather than deal with an umbrella fighting me all the way home. This one has made that walk much less of a chore. It feels sturdy in my hand and has coped with the gusts I've met so far. I still use a hood in winter, but I don't have to rely on it quite so much.

Johnny Hart

Another one I meant to keep for myself.

Another one I meant to keep for myself. My daughter already has hers and I liked this beige one so much. Then my sister was leaving in pouring rain and somehow it ended up going home with her. Honestly I couldn't blame her, it's so nice and feels really well put together!! Looks like I'll be getting myself another after all!

Ann Burgess

it's for rain.

it's for rain. Put it above your head when it's wet, fold it away when it's dry. A fairly well established system by now, I suspect. That aside- the construction is good for the money and it hasn't objected to the normal gusts I've used it in. Feels reassuringly solid without needing to pretend it is a walking stick.

Regina Moyer

This one has made the extra cost feel sensible.

Living near the lake in Cleveland and working downtown means an umbrella gets a proper test. I've thrown away enough cheap ones after a few windy walks to be wary of spending more. This one has made the extra cost feel sensible. Yesterday it coped with the gusts on my walk and didn't leave me wrestling with it. Feels much more substantial than the little ones I used to buy. Couldn't be happier!

Harry Buchanan

Once opened, it gave me a good amount of cover.

I first got one of these over a year ago and became quite attached to it. It wasn't teeny tiny, but it was narrow enough to slip into my bag without taking everything over. Once opened, it gave me a good amount of cover. It also stood up to the wind I encountered, with none of that feeling that it was about to turn over. Then I left it at a restaurant and couldn't find it again. I was really upset with myself! Being able to get the same one again was a relief, so that's what I've done. For an umbrella that packs away neatly but still feels useful when it is open, I'd happily choose this one.

Chloe Combs

The cream white looks nice and this umbrella works properly.

I have spent the last few months trying to find an umbrella that is sturdy but small enough to carry without thinking about it. This one comes close, but not quite. The folded length is about 40cm, which is longer than I really wanted. Opened up, it is roughly 105cm across and the coverage is good, so that part I like! The frame seems substantial and the ribs have more give than the stiff ones I am used to. The automatic part needs explaining: the button opens the umbrella and collapses the canopy, but shortening the pole is a manual step. That is normal operation, although it isn't the all-in-one motion I had pictured.Finding EVERYTHING in one tiny package apparently isn't happening! The cream white looks nice and this umbrella works properly. I am keeping it, but for carrying around every day the folded size is still a compromise. Worth considering if sturdiness matters more to you than minimum size.

Penny Joseph

Very happy to recommend it.

I wouldn't mistake this for something to take into a hailstorm. It is my everyday umbrella, the one that sits along the side of my computer case rather than being left at home because it is too much bother. A press and it is up, enough shelter for my head and shoulders going between work and the car, or across a parking lot to a store. I have bigger umbrellas for really miserable rain, and for when there are two of us. This is the sensible one-person option that I actually remember to bring. Feels neatly made rather than flimsy, and it has spared me quite a few wet arrivals during this rainy year. Very happy to recommend it.

Christine Donovan

It feels sturdy in normal windy weather too.

I think alot of the bad reviews make people expect far too little from this umbrella. Mine has been a pleasure to use, and that is really all I can speak for. There's good coverage without it feeling awkward to carry, and the button is a absolutely handy thing when you need it open quickly. Closing the fabric takes another press, then you push the shaft down yourself. I don't find that difficult or some great fault. It feels sturdy in normal windy weather too. I'd happily recommend it, just take a minute to understand how it works.

Becky Waters

Enjoying good rain cover is perfectly reasonable.

Not the cheapest, and you notice a bit of weight, but what a satisfying umbrella. It feels properly built, opens promptly, and has handled my wet commutes very well. My green little shelter even gets admiring looks from people who clearly know a decent umbrella when they see one. Meanwhile the flimsy ones seem to shrink in embarrassment. I could keep buying forgettable umbrellas, or carry one I actually enjoy using. Easy decision. You're allowed something nice, even when that something spends its life being rained on. Go ahead, spoil yourself. Just don't get so carried away that you march along the pavement inventing a heroic theme song for it. Enjoying good rain cover is perfectly reasonable. Appointing yourself captain of the umbrella brigade might be a step beyond.

Ana Shah

Rain runs off the canopy well in use.

My preference is for an umbrella that feels substantial without being awkward to carry. The beige canopy has a black underside, which gives it a more subdued appearance when you are standing underneath. The open width is about 105cm, and folded it is around 40cm long. At roughly 390g, I find it manageable rather than featherlight. The frame has 30 flexible ribs and supports the fabric nicely; it feels reassuring in ordinary breezes. The button opens the umbrella and also folds the canopy. To finish packing it away, the telescoping stem needs pushing down manually. That is straightforward once you know the sequence. The closed oval handle gives me a secure place to hold it. I leave the canopy open to dry before folding it for storage. Rain runs off the canopy well in use. I appreciate these practical details more than decorative extras and would recommend it.

Jacqueline Huerta

Everything received in good order.

Everything received in good order. This is the second I have ordered and my wife got me another one too. Quality is very good, it comes open well with the button and the canopy closes well with the next press, after this you press the telescoping part together to store it. No problems with the wind on the days I have tried it, I will write more when I have more use of it. Rain has not come through the cover at all. The frame seems strong and there is good flexibility in the ribs. Everything fine

Neil Luna

The price surprised me in a good way.

The price surprised me in a good way. Even counting delivery, I felt these were good value! They turned up sooner than I'd expected, which my husband and I appreciated because we'd already had a lot of rain and there was more forecast. Good timing! The umbrellas aren't awkwardly heavy and fold down to a sensible size. My husband has used one while holding our baby and had enough cover for them both. We haven't had them long enough to judge how they'll last over the years, but for the moment I'm very happy with what we got!

Sherry Hahn

Two umbrellas turning inside out in windy weather was enough for…

Two umbrellas turning inside out in windy weather was enough for me, so I wanted something sturdier that would still fit in my messenger bag. I didn't fancy carrying a large umbrella or having to replace another flimsy one. This looked like a sensible option and so far I'm very, very satisfied. For a folding umbrella it feels well built, while still being small enough for the space I have. I hadn't tried this brand before but I'm impressed with what I've seen.I'll add to this review if anything less positive turns up after I've used it some more.

Shaun Olsen

One of the most useful things I've bought.

One of the most useful things I've bought. The price seemed very fair, it feels sturdy, and the folded size fits my everyday bag without a fuss. I'm always walking from one part of campus to another, so having it there when the weather suddenly changes has been brilliant!

Robin Herrera

People kept complimenting it all through the trip!

I took this to Europe because I knew I'd see more rain than back home in Los Angeles. People kept complimenting it all through the trip! It felt pretty solid (one storm in France did turn it inside out once), and I absolutely love how it looks. A practical umbrella that still feels stylish, rather than just another dreary thing to carry when the sky is grey.

Dan Merritt

The fabric doesn't have that heavy canvas feel either.

Compared with the big umbrellas I've taken to games, this one is much less of a handful. At my daughters' sports events I'm usually in the bleachers, worrying about catching the person beside me with an edge when the wind picks up. This is a more manageable size and doesn't leave me feeling like I'm wrestling a sail. It gives me shade without being awkward to hold, and folds down to tuck away when I don't need it. The fabric doesn't have that heavy canvas feel either. I wish I'd switched to something like this sooner!

Danny Johns

An Easter hit with my little boy!

An Easter hit with my little boy! He is three and keeps looking for rain clouds already. We haven't used it in rain yet, but he's certainly keen. The ribs seem substantial and have some flex to them, which I like. He wants to work the button himself, but I help him and reset the shaft by hand. The only downside is that it's a bigger thing for him to carry than I pictured. Not a major problem, I'll carry it when he gets fed up.

Gail Zavala

The umbrella arrived in a box, with protection around the handle.

The umbrella arrived in a box, with protection around the handle. A carry sleeve is included, which is useful for keeping it together when stored. The folded length is about 40 cm and the weight about 390 g. It is not the smallest umbrella, but the weight seems reasonable for this construction. There are 30 flexible ribs supporting the canopy. I have only tried it in ordinary rain so far, not in severe weather, and cannot comment on that. When open the canopy is approximately 105 cm across. For one person the coverage is good, including a bag held close. The handle forms a closed oval loop. An important convenience is the automatic opening from the button. Another press brings the canopy closed, but this does not shorten the whole umbrella. The telescoping section must then be compressed manually towards the handle to prepare it for another opening. Overall I am satisfied and can recommend it. The size and weight should be considered according to where you plan to carry it. Good shopping to everyone.

Chloe Harrington

Straightforward enough.

I used to get through cheap umbrellas rather quickly, so I wanted something that felt worth keeping. This has been a much better buy for me and has handled rainy days without fuss. It gives decent coverage without being a great long thing to carry about, and the frame feels substantial for something that folds away. I like being able to open it quickly with the button. Another press folds the canopy, then I slide the pole down myself for storage. Straightforward enough. Not the cheapest option, but I'd rather spend a bit more on an umbrella I actually want to take out with me.

Vickie Clayton

This unbrella does a good job.

This unbrella does a good job. The black looks nice, but keeping dry matters more to me. It covers well without needing to hold it right against my head. I keep it high enough that I can see where I am walking, and the button makes things easy. Would recommend.
