It opens without a struggle and the canopy is a fair size.

Most of my wardrobe is fairly plain, so I wanted an umbrella that would stand out a bit.The blue is beautiful and looks so much nicer than I expected on a dull day.I've thought about using it for shade as well, although I'm not sure yet if I'll feel a bit conspicuous carrying it about that way.It opens without a struggle and the canopy is a fair size. More room than the folded umbrella suggests, but not to much to handle.I like it with my vintage style outfits, it adds something without being fussy.

This umbrella is a winner.

This umbrella is a winner. A nice generous canopy to keep my head dry, quick opening when the rain starts, and plain black for, well, sometimes simple just looks good. If you want an umbrella that looks smart AND feels sturdy rather than flimsy in a shower, this is a great pick. Mine has been fine on breezy days too.

The speed of the opening button surprised me, in a good way.

The speed of the opening button surprised me, in a good way. I've been out in proper heavy rain with it and my head and shoulders stayed dry, no water coming through the fabric. My lower legs still get splashed when the rain blows sideways, but I don't expect an umbrella to do the work of waterproof clothing. It folds away neatly once I get inside and hasn't taken long to dry afterwards. I spent ages deciding on one and feel I've picked well. Manageable to carry, yet it feels reassuringly solid in my hand.

I always check for it before heading out.

With all the wet winter weather we've had in the Midwest, this has earned a permanent place in my backpack. The waits at the bus stop on the campus where I work are much nicer with dry hair and shoulders. I've stood there feeling rather smug while people nearby wrestle with their umbrellas. Mine has been steady in the ordinary breezes, although I'm not about to test it in a serious storm. A few people have asked about it, surprised that it folds away rather than being a long umbrella. That's the part I appreciate too. It goes straight into my backpack afterwards instead of being another thing to carry. I always check for it before heading out.

The button works promptly.

A reasonably compact black umbrella, with an oval loop handle that can clip onto my backpack. The button works promptly. Pressing the shaft back down by hand takes a firm push, more than I would prefer. It arrived neatly packed and everything looks carefully finished. More use will tell, but the first impression is positive.

This has taken over as my everyday umbrella.

This has taken over as my everyday umbrella. The oval loop at the bottom feels solid and gives it a slightly odd, almost gadget-like look. With the gray canopy spread out it is much more sensible looking, like a proper old-fashioned brolly made smaller to carry. The button is right where my thumb wants to be.A nice sleeve came with it, though I doubt I'll bother trying to stuff a wet umbrella back inside. I'll let it dry first. Useful without being completely boring, which I like. Fair price as well. Might pick up a couple as holiday presents.

Even with the gusts it felt steady in my hand.

Best umbrella I've had so far ,stood out in the rain at lacrosse this spring and came away dry .Even with the gusts it felt steady in my hand.People worrying about that new umbrella smell ,it's not something you're supposed to eat.I noticed it too ,but to me that's just a new item smell and not a reason to complain. The quick opening is great when the rain gets going ,and it folds down neatly afterwards .Does the job I bought it for ,five stars from me !!!!!

I wasn't expecting much from a folding umbrella this light.

I wasn't expecting much from a folding umbrella this light. Seemed to me like one good gust would finish it. But, fair is fair, 2 months later its still doing what I bought it for. My faith in football is another matter (don't even get me started!) but this has earned some trust. Been out in wet windy weather a few times and it's held up fine. Not sure I'd choose it for the very worst weather, though.

Ross Whitney

This one has done that for me.

Nobody buys an umbrella hoping to need it every day, but when the rain arrives you want it to work. This one has done that for me. Surprisingly roomy once opened for something that folds away, enough for two if you stay close. A practical thing to have waiting in the bag!

We put ten of these through a stage run of five performances a week for six weeks; lots of opening, closing and swinging them about for two hours a night, and they held up well. I wanted a consistent button action and that's what we got, though the shaft still needs compressing by hand. They've only been used inside, so I can't speak for their performance in rain.

A present for my mom, who loves anything pink, and this umbrella has gone down very well. It folds neatly for her larger handbag, then opens with a quick press into a proper sized umbrella rather than something tiny. The sleeve is useful too, keeping that general handbag gunk off the fabric while it's put away. Having a pretty pink canopy over your head instead of just staring at the rain, isn't that a little lift on a gloomy day?

Black goes with everything.

Small enough for my bigger purse and light enough that I don't mind taking it along! Feels steady when a breeze catches it too. Black goes with everything. Since so many umbrellas are black, I check for the loop handle when they're left together by a restaurant door or at someone's house, so I know which one's mine.

Better than another game?

Better than another game? An umbrella?Yes, I'm saying it. Not because there's anything wrong with staying indoors and playing games, but because this is a surprisingly satisfying thing to own. It's a smart looking umbrella, neat and uncomplicated, with that oval loop instead of the usual hook. The part that really wins me over is pressing a button and having it spring open. One hand. Just a thumb, really. When the rest of you is occupied carrying things and rain is waiting outside, that feels like a small triumph of civilisation. No need to wrestle with the fabric to get it started. Press again and the canopy pulls together, then give the shaft its manual push down to pack it away. I also appreciate that the appearance is fairly restrained. I wanted an umbrella, not something that draws more attention than I do.A respectable way of telling the weather you would rather not wear it on your head. Enjoy.

Very happy to reach for this when the rain starts!

Dry at last! That's really all I want from an umbrella, and this one delivers. It opens with a good positive action and feels properly put together. The canopy, shaft and handle all seem substantial rather than flimsy. I've had umbrellas that felt cheap from the first use, so this makes a nice change. Plenty of cover for me, yet I can fold it away instead of carrying a long stick around. If I could alter anything I'd make the folded length a little shorter, just for fitting in smaller bags. But that's a minor wish, not something that spoils it. Very happy to reach for this when the rain starts!

I've been so happy with how solid this feels in a downpour.

I've been so happy with how solid this feels in a downpour. Rain and gusty weather haven't made me regret carrying it, which is more than I can say for some umbrellas. My worry is leaving it beside me on the train, i do that with things. Apart from keeping track of it, excellent value for me.

Mariah Strickland

It does feel solid when I open it up, with a nice substantial frame.

Not much use over the last few months because we've barely had rain here in the midwest (typical...), so I can't say much about how it handles nasty weather yet. It does feel solid when I open it up, with a nice substantial frame. Also, the photo makes it look rather plain. The black looks richer in person and the whole thing is smarter than I expected.

Strong, folds up neatly, and useful for shade as well as rain.

One of the best little purchases I've made! Strong, folds up neatly, and useful for shade as well as rain. It stays in my car so I have it when we head to the beach. My friends can sit out enjoying the sunshine while I get a patch of shade underneath. That makes the whole outing more comfortable for me. I'd much rather pay for something that feels dependable than keep buying flimsy umbrellas. Very glad I spent the money on this one.

Leonard Osborne

Both of us are pleased with them.

There's room for me and the child I'm carrying to stay dry under this umbrella. The gray looks nice too. I ordered two umbrella's, one for myself and another for my daughter. Both of us are pleased with them. I'd reccommend one if you need a useful everyday umbrella.

Patty Shaffer

My friend is happy with his too.

I ordered a pair of these, one for me and the other for a friend. Both feel well made and the oval handle has had a few people asking about it. It's different enough from a normal umbrella handle to get noticed, which I think is pretty cool. My friend is happy with his too.Using the button to open it is handy when the rain starts, and there is a decent amount of cover once it's up. The reason for four rather than five is the sleeve. You have to fold the fabric fairly neatly or getting it back inside is a pain. It works, just not my favourite part. Overall I'm enjoying mine and would still recommend it. Bring on the rainy days! :)

Anne Mcknight

I would recommend it.

We bought two similar umbrella's and this one seems much sturdier then the other. It got plenty of use in the first week, rain on 4 out of 5 days and some breezy weather too. Nothing to complain about with how it has worked. My daughter (6 years old) loves carrying it and staying dry. It's a little bulky for her to manage, but otherwise a good purchase. I would recommend it.

Terrence Collier

My sister has been really happy with the umbrella I bought her!

My sister has been really happy with the umbrella I bought her! It doesn't feel cumbersome to carry, yet there's a reassuring feel to it. The beige looks lovely and the button makes opening it so simple. My only tiny gripe is that I can't get all the folds sitting quite evenly when I wrap it, so it looks a little untidy up close. Doesn't really matter when it's open or tucked away in the sleeve.

Ricardo Hale

Most importantly, it has kept the rain off during those walks.

Where I live, going out without an umbrella is always a bit of a gamble. A dry morning can turn into a very wet afternoon, and it doesn't take a long walk to wish you had brought one. Having a folding umbrella nearby is more useful to me than owning a large one that gets left behind. The size suits that purpose. It stays in the back of my car without being in the way, and the open canopy gives a useful amount of coverage. What I particularly appreciate is being able to press the button and have it open without having to slide anything into place myself. Automatic umbrellas have been around for ages, so this isn't a remarkable invention, but it is a convenience I notice every time I use it. Reaching into the back seat, picking it up and opening it takes very little effort when the rain has already started. I also like the way it behaves when there is some wind along with the rain. A canopy that feels completely rigid can be quite tiring to hold when the weather keeps pulling at it. The ribs on this one have some flexibility, and it has been comfortable to manage in the ordinary blustery conditions I've used it in. You still notice the wind catching the canopy, of course, but I haven't felt as though I was constantly wrestling with it. Most importantly, it has kept the rain off during those walks. I wouldn't expect a compact umbrella to be suitable for every kind of storm, but for everyday use this has done its job. My one reservation is that some of the smaller fittings look a little lighter than I would prefer, so I am interested to see how they wear with regular use. Nothing has caused a problem so far. Considering the price and the convenience, though, I think it is a sensible everyday umbrella and good value overall.

Alicia Haas

I use it daily for shade while I'm at work.

I use it daily for shade while I'm at work. Makes me much cooler and is wonderful to have out there. Be careful though... holding it too far above you when it's windy lets the canopy catch the wind. You can really feel it tugging on your arm. I've found keeping it closer is much easier to manage.

Dan Bradford

The value is hard to argue with.

The value is hard to argue with. Useful coverage, rain beads off it and the beige is pleasantly plain. It feels solid too. There is a bit of that new handle smell if I put it right up to my face, but it isn't something I notice across the room. A little lingers on my hands and washing takes care of it. I expect it will fade with use, as that sort of new-product smell usually does.

Mike Spence

The open size is great, I love the coverage!

The open size is great, I love the coverage! My only real niggle is packing it up neatly when it's wet. The canopy shuts with the button, then you push the telescoping section down yourself. That part is fine, it's getting the damp folds tidy again that takes me a minute.I like the cream white, it looks nice overhead! Once I stopped trying to pack it away in a rush it was much easier...just let it drain a little and fold it properly first.

Miguel Burnett

I had mine for a few years till my sister 'borrowed' it for good.

I had mine for a few years till my sister 'borrowed' it for good. Obviously I needed another one. The canopy is nicely put together and it copes well with the gusts I've met. Open it gives me a good amount of room, not one of those giant umbrellas but not cramped either. It fits in my everyday bag when folded. I did have to figure out the closing. The button gathers the fabric, then you shorten the stem yourself. Once I understood that part there wasn't anything to fuss about, now it gets used all the time - Love it!

Debra Norris

Now that's a solid umbrella!

Now that's a solid umbrella! 😊 The build feels substantial and the finish is neat—i was impressed as soon as I opened it. It is a little heavier and bulkier than a very basic folding umbrella, which is worth bearing in mind if you travel light. Personally I don't mind that, as it feels well put together rather than flimsy. For the money, I'm happy with the overall quality and how sturdy it seems.

Paul Rich

A bigger patch of shade than I pictured.

A bigger patch of shade than I pictured. the closed oval handle is handy to carry, and one button opens it or folds down the canopy. wouldn't mind the black underside being a little thicker, there's still some brightness through the fabric in sun, but it's done what I wanted. happy overall :)

Not a weapon, just something for the rain.

A university ended up in a panic over an umbrella sticking out from behind a backpack. A student had put it there with just some of it showing above his shoulder, and several people reported seeing a man with a gun. Police were out searching, helicopters went up and the campus got shut down, with other local schools closed as well. All this went on for hours before they found the student and realised what he was actually carrying. He'd had the umbrella for months and nothing like this happened before. Not a weapon, just something for the rain. After all that fuss he said the umbrella itself was great and well worth buying. Seems a very big scene for a perfectly ordinary umbrella.

Dominic Dawson

Exactly as I expected and packed carefully.

Exactly as I expected and packed carefully. Got it for my daughter's birthday and she was delighted. I'm tempted to get one for myself now! I took it to her workplace to give it to her, which turned out to be good timing. A thunderstorm started as she was leaving, so she tried it out that very day!

Jake Stark

These seem perfectly suitable for men or women to me.

These seem perfectly suitable for men or women to me. I bought three: two for my daughter at Christmas and one for me, her dad. They fold down to a convenient size. The button is especially useful at the car; I can put the umbrella through a partly open door and have cover before I step outside. When you press to close it, only the canopy comes in. The telescoping pole still needs pressing down manually to make it short again. That's simple enough once you know what to expect. I've taken mine out a number of times and it's worked without fuss. My daughter hasn't mentioned any trouble either. I'd happily recommend one to anyone who wants an easy umbrella to carry.

Chris Carpenter

A lot of thought seems to have gone into this umbrella.

A lot of thought seems to have gone into this umbrella. It gives me good cover and didn't turn inside out when the wind caught it. Folding it up is straightforward, and I find the closed loop handle particularly useful. Black looks smart (without making a fuss). Having a handle I can clip to my bag also means I'm less likely to put it down somewhere and forget it.

Normally I would open an umbrella in a shop and judge it that way.

I got this near the end of last spring's rainy weather, so it hasn't been used every day. It does feel sturdy and it folds up into a manageable shape, which I appreciate. However, I had a slightly different idea of the size when I ordered it. Normally I would open an umbrella in a shop and judge it that way. Reading an open size of about 105cm online didn't really give me a picture of how much cover that meant. In person it is a normal individual umbrella, not the big shared canopy I had imagined. One person has comfortable space; two adults need to stand close together and accept a bit less cover around the edges. That's not really a fault in the umbrella, just something to know if you're shopping for a larger one that folds. I'm keeping it, because for everyday use on my own it works well.

Sue Jennings

Hope that helps somebody.

The button opening on this folding umbrella is handy when getting out of the car. My old larger one was awkward around the door and I was always catching it, my doing not the umbrella's. This one is easier for me, though not as roomy overhead. Does what I need. Might suit you too. Hope that helps somebody.

Madison Maddox

The pink is lovely and it looks good when open.

The pink is lovely and it looks good when open. Just the size I wanted. I'm still wondering how it will stand up to being opened and closed all the time, as I haven't had it long. So far I'm delighted with it. If it keeps going like this it will have been a good buy.

Michael Hall

It came neatly packed and everything looked good.

It came neatly packed and everything looked good. I did end up returning it because I had imagined something smaller for carrying to school. It folds down, but its still longer than the little umbrella I had in mind and took up more room in my bag than I wanted. For someone who doesn't mind that, it's a nice umbrella with decent coverage. Just not the right size for my everyday school bag.

Sherry Chase

Thankfully it was a lovely sunny day and we didn't need them!

I ordered these for my daughter's wedding photos, IN CASE rain decided to join us. Thankfully it was a lovely sunny day and we didn't need them! We did open them beforehand and they looked smart, which mattered with everyone dressed up. A couple standing close can get underneath, rather than each person having to hold one. They fold away neatly too, so having them on hand wasn't awkward. Would certainly recommend having umbrellas ready for wedding photos.

Tiffany Greene

We've worked through a pile of cheap umbrellas.

We've worked through a pile of cheap umbrellas. A few pricier ones haven't done much better. What interests me here is the support under the canopy: 30 flexible ribs, rather than just a few thin spokes. There's some give in them, so it doesn't feel quite so brittle when handled. I wouldn't test that by crushing it or using it as a walking stick. Still, the construction is reassuring, and it folds into a manageable package. I'd rather put my money into this sort of construction than keep buying flimsy replacements. A worthwhile step up, in my view.

Kristin Walls

A sturdy umbrella that doesn't take over my backpack.

A sturdy umbrella that doesn't take over my backpack. I've been carrying it for a few weeks and it's doing just what I wanted. Manual ones always have me fiddling about in the rain, so I really appreciate the button opening and canopy closing on this one. A push down on the shaft finishes packing it away. Plenty of cover once it's up, without being huge to carry. What else do I need?

Belinda Neal

The loop handle is lovely too.

Such a pretty umbrella. It feels a little smaller than my usual rain umbrella, which I actually like. The pink fabric looks like the pictures, with a black underside, and the material has a nice substantial feel. The loop handle is lovely too. Everything feels well put together and I can see myself using it for a long time. I took it to an outdoor event and being in its shade was noticeably more comfortable than standing right in the sun. I came home without a sunburn. The size made getting through the crowd easier, though you still have to watch where the edges are going. I would still put sunscreen on my legs because depending where the sun is, they aren't always covered by the shade. A breeze came up a few times and I could still manage it easily. Really happy I got it!

Helen Carpenter

This one feels a good deal more substantial.

Around here in the Pacific Northwest you see plenty of umbrellas looking ready for the bin. This one feels a good deal more substantial. My walk to work includes a bridge with nothing much to block the weather, so a flimsy umbrella is no use to me. It has handled the wet, blustery walks I've used it for without giving me trouble. I LOVE being able to tuck it in my backpack afterward instead of carrying a long wet stick all day. It's become one of those things I reach for without thinking, a dependable little companion for the commute.

Blake Benitez

I hardly ever write one of these, but this umbrella made me want to.

I hardly ever write one of these, but this umbrella made me want to.We were on vacation in Saint Maarten and had a couple of rainy days. My wife and I got such a laugh out of how pleased we were with an umbrella. You'd think we'd bought something exciting, not rain cover. It opened easily and held its shape in the breezy showers whenever one of us needed it. No wrestling with it or getting soaked. Anyway, it was one less thing to fuss about on the trip, and we were both glad we'd taken it along.

Melissa Wolfe

This compact model has proved a very good compromise.

I was after something a little smarter than a large sporting umbrella, without sacrificing useful coverage. This compact model has proved a very good compromise. The handle is the part I particularly appreciate; it has a comfortable thickness and I do not have to pinch it with my fingers as I have with slimmer handles. The closed oval shape also feels secure in the hand. The frame seems substantial, yet the whole thing is quite manageable to carry. It opens at a press of the button, and the canopy folds with another press before the shaft is pushed down manually. When shopping, I can clip the handle to my bag rather than having one hand permanently occupied by an umbrella.

Daryl Fox

There's something so chic about this umbrella.

There's something so chic about this umbrella. If you like a simple, understated look, the beige is lovely without looking dull. It feels solid and there's enough room underneath to have your own little shelter, which is really the point of an umbrella, not just looking nice. My appreciation for it goes beyond the colour. The automatic opening makes it easy to get covered when the rain starts, and I like the enclosed loop instead of a dangling hook. I suppose the only drawback is that folded doesn't mean tiny, so carrying it about can be a little awkward. For the look, the comfortable coverage and how easy it is to use, I can live with that.

Kyle Khan

I'm enjoying all the little details on this umbrella...

I'm enjoying all the little details on this umbrella... the oval loop at the handle, the neat sleeve, the way the beige outside looks against the black underneath, and how much cover there is once it's open. It feels like something I'll actually want to take along rather than leave by the door. The funny part is that since it arrived the weather has hardly given me a reason to use it. All this sunshine when I was ready for rain! Never thought I'd be hoping for a shower just to show off an umbrella!

Kim Beard

I wiped it away with a dry cloth in a few minutes.

I spent quite a while reading reviews before choosing this umbrella, so I was interested to see it when it arrived today. First impressions are good, and the black looks quite smart. As someone who walks around Chicago, I mainly wanted decent coverage without something awkward to carry. Holding the canopy a little higher gives me a clear view ahead, and the button is straightforward to use. There was some pale dust on the fabric when I unpacked it, as a few reviews had mentioned. I wiped it away with a dry cloth in a few minutes. Not a major problem, though an extra step I'd rather have skipped.

Wanted a black umbrella to go with my sons football team colors.

Wanted a black umbrella to go with my sons football team colors. Looked through plenty before deciding on this one. A few months of use now and I cant fault the quality. Plenty of cover for standing at those cold wet games and people have said how smart the black looks!! Definitely a keeper!!

Bridget Combs

Early days, but this has been a good little umbrella.

Early days, but this has been a good little umbrella. Opening it is straightforward and it has felt reassuringly steady in breezy weather, especially for something that folds up. My one small gripe is how readily the button responds. I have to watch where my thumb rests so I don't set it off when I didn't mean to.

A nice umbrella with that one reservation.

The blue is lovely and I am fond of the overall look. There is enough room for me ... Or two if we squeeze in! It is compact, but still a bit too long for my small purse, so it goes in a tote instead. Opening it with the button is straightforward. Closing takes more effort with my arthritic fingers/thumbs; the button folds the canopy, then I use both hands to push the telescoping section down. I would prefer that last part to need a little less strength, though I manage it. The sleeve is useful for keeping it tidy in the bag as well. None of that has stopped me enjoying it, and I hope it lasts a long while. It should be a regular companion when I take my Border Collie out! A nice umbrella with that one reservation.
