Easy enough to carry around, and I'd happily recommend it.

My husband found this so useful on our New York vacation. He carried it for the showers, but also used it for a bit of shade when we stopped to rest his legs. It was nice having something practical along without making him feel like he was loaded down with equipment. Easy enough to carry around, and I'd happily recommend it.

Plenty of cover when open, without taking over my bag when folded.

Plenty of cover when open, without taking over my bag when folded. I like the button for putting it up and shutting the canopy. The shaft then needs pushing down manually, and that takes more effort than I'd like...my only real gripe. Apart from that it's a solid umbrella, and it's done a good job keeping me dry when the rain comes with wind.

Meghan Powers

Looks great and keeps me dry!

Looks great and keeps me dry!A warning though: apparently other people think it's theirs when my back is turned. I'm on my third purchase now, not because the umbrella has worn out. Please buy your own, people! I rather like having mine when it rains, and replacing everybody else's idea of a free umbrella is getting costly.

Jimmy Berger

Nothing to grumble about here.

Apparently this Umbrella scares the rain away, because the dry spell started as soon as it turned up. Leave it behind and of course that's when the clouds get ideas. Joking aside, it gives me a comfortable space underneath, and another person can squeeze in close rather than getting completely soaked. Sharing is half the point! I've had to grip it firmly in blustery weather, but the frame has stayed put and it has done its job nicely. Nothing to grumble about here. It looks smart as well, not just like something practical I'm stuck carrying!

was given this umbrella and it's turned out to be a lovely gift.

was given this umbrella and it's turned out to be a lovely gift. Folds down neatly into my briefcase without adding much weight. The button action is smooth and it has been perfectly useful through the recent rainy days in New York. Costs more than a throwaway umbrella, but I'd rather have something that feels like it will last than keep replacing cheap ones.

The frame has a plastic sort of feel.

The frame has a plastic sort of feel. Meant to be flexible and strong, but it seems to bend quite readily.I'd be happier with something more rigid. The part of the handle you grip is small too, might be awkward when it's windy.I'd like it better at $20 or under. The upside is I can tuck it into the inside pocket of my jacket.

Parker Stewart

The button makes opening it simple too.

I chose these as a small "extra" for high school graduates who are going away to college. An umbrella might not seem very "cool" right now, but walks across campus in the rain will make it useful! Folded up, it fits in a book bag without taking over the whole thing, then opens big enough to give proper cover. The button makes opening it simple too. A practical little graduation gift and something they can actually use!

Billy Patrick

The opening action is smooth and the frame seems substantial.

My initial impression is favorable, although the folded umbrella is a little longer than I had pictured. The opening action is smooth and the frame seems substantial. Rain and wind are forecast for tonight, which should provide a useful first test. Until then, I am pleased with the construction rather than judging its weather performance.

My wife uses it on her morning walks.

My wife uses it on her morning walks. She wasn't keen at first, as it weighs a bit more than the little folding umbrella she had before. After using it for shade and in the rain, though, it's become the one she reaches for. She says it feels strong and properly put together, which I agree with.

Sylvia Terry

A neat umbrella once packed.

It looks smart open, with blue on top and plain black underneath. The canopy gives me a comfortable amount of cover without feeling enormous. The oval handle is a useful shape and the fabric has a substantial feel. To pack it away I press the button to gather the canopy, push the telescoping pole down, then smooth the folds close together. It come with a sleeve and I find it slides in better if I spend a moment arranging the fabric first. A neat umbrella once packed.

needed something for the rain and the price seemed fair.

needed something for the rain and the price seemed fair. someone at work thinks it's a bit fancy looking. Fine by me! we've had some proper downpours lately and you aren't going to stay completely dry in those. Still, the coverage on this kept most of it off me, which is what matters. the button is handy when you've got your hands full , and something I didn't think much about at first..the oval loop handle. much nicer to hang on to than I expected. money well spent!!!!

Jermaine Franco

A good choice for changeable weather.

I was drawn to the design initially. In person the fabric and frame seem better than I expected, and it feels built for regular use. It gives me decent shelter on the golf course, though covering myself and the whole bag is a stretch. A good choice for changeable weather.

Gregg Macias

The umbrella opens about 105CM across.

The umbrella opens about 105CM across. i thought this would feel bigger!!! It is compact yes, but for me a little too compact!!!! I am 186CM tall and 200 pounds, so not a small guy to put underneath. Must say it looks very nice and the button is easy!!!Just not so much spare space round my shoulders...... if u have a build like me, consider that. Handy to carry and fine for normal rain, but I wanted more cover than this feels. Not terrible umbrella, only a bit small for my liking.

Megan Goodman

Delighted with the cover this gives.

Delighted with the cover this gives. My husband uses it for the walk from his parking garage to the office and it's been great. Closing the canopy with the button is easy, though pushing the telescoping part back in takes a firm hand. Worth remembering before trying to pack it away in a rush!

Sierra Hendrix

Folds up neatly too, and I'm pleased with how solid it feels.

I was after a plain black umbrella and this turned out to be a good choice. Worth checking the dimensions in the description rather than judging size from the pictures. It's about 105cm across when open, not one of the enormous ones. That's enough for me. Folds up neatly too, and I'm pleased with how solid it feels.

Gina Rivas

The mundane point is my shoes.

I unpacked the umbrella this morning and, as an object, it gives me very little to complain about. It springs open promptly, closing it is not a battle, and the overall appearance is quite agreeable. Nothing about it suggests that it won't do the ordinary work of an umbrella. My reservation concerns how much room there is underneath it, rather than whether the thing functions. Before ordering, I read the open width of approximately 105cm and got the tape measure out. I marked that distance on the floor, put myself roughly at the centre, and decided it would be sufficient. This seemed like a reasonably sensible way of checking. Having now stood under the actual umbrella, I am less convinced by my method. There is enough space for me, certainly, but the margin around me feels smaller than the stretch of empty floor suggested. I checked the open canopy and it is indeed about 105cm across. So the measurement is not wrong; my interpretation of what that measurement would mean in use was optimistic. There are two separate points here, one slightly abstract and the other rather mundane. The abstract one is that knowing the width of an umbrella is useful without necessarily answering the question a buyer actually has, namely, how much of me will remain dry? A line measured across the floor doesn't account for where the canopy sits above your head, or where your feet will be when you are moving. I had treated it as a little circle of guaranteed dryness, which it plainly isn't. That is my mistake, although I doubt I am the first person to make it. The mundane point is my shoes. With the folding umbrella I was replacing, the toes of my shoes were always just outside the shelter when I walked normally. On the ten-minute walk to the subway, that could mean arriving with water beginning to work its way through. This one gives me somewhat more room, but standing beneath it has not persuaded me that the problem will disappear altogether. Shortening my stride would help, presumably, but buying an umbrella in order to adjust my walking habits is not quite what I had in mind. TL;DR - The stated open width seems accurate, and the umbrella itself seems perfectly decent. I simply wanted a more generous patch of shelter than a compact umbrella this size provides. A much larger one would probably have been the sensible purchase for my particular concern. Still, this is convenient enough to carry and otherwise satisfactory, so I will be keeping it.

Darryl Robinson

A useful umbrella for the money, compact rather than tiny.

If you're trying to picture the handle, it's a closed oval loop rather than the usual curved hook. With the beige canopy it has quite a tidy, dressy-ish look, without being fussy.A useful umbrella for the money, compact rather than tiny. A bit more to carry than a pocket umbrella, though it feels substantial. The button opens it and folds the canopy; the shaft goes down by hand.

Cheyenne Peck

This is a useful compromise.

We wanted something my wife and I could share for a walk, without having a long umbrella to deal with once the rain stopped. This is a useful compromise. It covers us if we stay fairly close, then folds to a manageable size. Not enormous, but practical. I haven't tried it in really wild weather, so I can't give it credit for that yet. Based on the ordinary rainy walks so far, though, I'd be willing to buy the same one again.

Mckenzie Wolfe

this covers us nicely when we stay close together.

we're in south bend and spend plenty of time walking to story time and play dates. i wanted something to keep the toddler and me a bit drier getting there. this covers us nicely when we stay close together. it isn't see through, so i keep it high enough to watch for cars and people. also gives us a little space from random cheek pinching hands, which is a bonus. wind still needs some attention, but for our wet walks i'm glad to have it.

Jaime Crosby

This is such a lovely umbrella.

I'd had enough of cheap umbrellas leaving me wet. This is such a lovely umbrella. Good coverage, I stay dry, it looks smart and classic and.....opening it and carrying it about is still easy. People keep telling me how nice it looks. Its as if a PROPER umbrella is a surprise these days.Im getting these for everyone at Christmas.

Olivia Sanders

It arrived before a weekend when it just kept raining.

It arrived before a weekend when it just kept raining. I spent over ten hours walking outside for work in the wind and wet, and it did well. Gets a little tiring carrying it that long. Coworkers were laughing that my umbrella was “too posh for work”. I took it as jealousy really, they looked like they wanted it themselves. Would def recommend this one.

Umbrellas and I are not natural allies.

Umbrellas and I are not natural allies. I've gone through enough cheap ones in the last few years to be suspicious of anything that promises to stand over my head. One previous specimen actually separated at the stem during a downpour, which was an interesting interpretation of shelter. This one seems considerably sturdier, although it also cost more than my usual purchases, so perhaps that is the lesson here. We'll see. The ribs have some flexibility rather than feeling like little sticks waiting to snap. In the rain and blustery weather I've used it in, the canopy has behaved itself. The shaft feels solid too, though I'm not entirely sold on the closed oval handle. It isn't quite my favourite shape to grip. Then there is the closing procedure. Pressing the button gathers the canopy, but you still have to push the telescoping section down yourself before it will open again. That last shove requires more enthusiasm than I generally have after being rained on. Nothing is wrong with it; it's just a more determined operation than I expected from the word automatic. Overall, I like it. I am cautiously allowing myself to imagine owning the same umbrella for a respectable length of time, which, given our history, is quite a commitment.

Kent Washington

Other than that, no complaints.

Feels like a well-made umbrella and I like using it, but folded up it's still LONG for my bag. My work bag is pretty big and I have to angle this across it rather than drop it straight in. Other than that, no complaints. Haven't tried it in really wild wind yet, but for the usual wet and breezy commute it's been doing a good job.

Kaitlyn Hoffman

It isn't a huge issue, just more effort than I was expecting.

I've really liked using this so far, and it's handled the weather/rain very well. It gives two people a decent amount of cover, yet folds down small enough to go in my bag easily. The closing action was the one slight disappointment- a press of the button brings it open from fully folded, but the next press just gathers up the canopy. You still have to take hold of it and press the shaft all the way back down by hand to lock it in place. That part needs a harder push than I'm used to giving an umbrella, so putting it away isn't quite as easy as opening it. It isn't a huge issue, just more effort than I was expecting.***A closing tip, found out by getting wet myself: make SURE you hold it OUT from your body before pressing the button, roughly at a right angle, not up over your head. Otherwise all that water on top gets tipped right onto you!

Jennifer Ford

It's done well in New York rain.

Best bit of this umbrella is how manageable it is once folded. There's plenty of cover when open, but I can hang it at my belt under a coat on a wet night without it being in the way. It's done well in New York rain. This will be my third: I left the first in a cab and gave the second away, so with June here I need another. The quick closing is especially handy. A press makes the canopy gather in, then I push the telescoping sections together to get it ready for next time. The oval loop handle is useful for carrying it on my belt, rather than having a long umbrella to drag around. Just make sure it's securely attached before heading out. Very handy thing.

Evelyn Fleming

Worth getting!

My wife goes through umbrellas, either misplacing them or managing to damage them, so I chose this one for her. Closed up it goes in her bag easily and there is a surprising amount of room once opened. We can both shelter under it if we stand close. After a few months of use in some thoroughly wet and blustery weather it still looks good and works as it should. Worth getting!

Cory Blankenship

It's been used quite a lot these past few months.

There's a good amount of room underneath, and it's held its shape on windy afternoons. Beige fits in with my kids' school colors, which is a bonus at rainy sports events. It's been used quite a lot these past few months. Hoping for another three years out of it, and so far I'm encouraged.

Tamara Crosby

Rain gave me a chance to try it as soon as it arrived.

Rain gave me a chance to try it as soon as it arrived. A very good folding umbrella, feels firm in the hand and gives plenty of cover. The grip is nice to hold too. Packed away it's a sensible size, not one of those tiny flimsy things.I expect to get much more use from this than my little ones. For something practical that also looks smart, I'd recommend it.

Scott Day

Nothing awkward about carrying it.

I looked online because I wanted an everyday umbrella with some substance to it, not another flimsy one. This has a firm feel in the hand and has handled the wind I've used it in. Nothing awkward about carrying it. I lost my first one and bought the same again, which probably says enough. It is the sort of basic item I want to keep using for ages.Could be a touch wider, but I'm very satisfied with it.

Erin Pennington

This umbrella was just what I had hoped for.

This umbrella was just what I had hoped for. Seeing it in person, it looks as lovely as it did on the screen. It feels well made & everything works smoothly, so I'm expecting to get plenty of use from it. I actually enjoy taking it out because it stands out from the usual umbrellas around me. A few people have commented on it already. Always nice when something ordered online turns out to be exactly what you wanted

This one ticks the whole rather demanding list.

Behold, my new favourite desert necessity: an umbrella that actually earns its place. Here in Arizona it can feel silly buying rain gear, right up until the day you need it. I wanted something sturdy for those summer showers, small enough to bring along for the winter drizzle, and pretty enough that shading my pale face didn't feel like carrying camping equipment around town. Most importantly, I didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount for something that spends so much of its life waiting for a cloud. This one ticks the whole rather demanding list. The BEST part is that it isn't enormous to carry but two can still huddle underneath, provided you are on friendly terms (;

Dorothy Bullock

Such a nice looking umbrella, I'm really pleased with mine!

Such a nice looking umbrella, I'm really pleased with mine! I hadn't noticed at first that pressing the button while it is open draws the canopy shut. You still shorten the stem yourself afterwards. That extra button function was a pleasant little discovery for me! :)

Rachael Haley

A lovely way to brighten a wet day!

I had an umbrella years ago that always lifted my spirits, so finding this while looking for a friend's gift made me happy. She loved it. In her card I wrote something about having a little shelter when life gets rainy. Maybe sentimental for an umbrella, but giving something useful can be a cheerful thing too. A lovely way to brighten a wet day!

Devin Hutchinson

This little umbrella has a really reassuring heft to it.

This little umbrella has a really reassuring heft to it. In the wind and rain I've had so far, I haven't felt like I'd suddenly take off down the street! SO much more substantial than the flimsy one I used to carry!! Very glad I changed, this is a proper useful purchase!!

Elizabeth Ortiz

Or I'd simply avoid going out in rain.

Until this one I'd never actually spent money on an umbrella. Borrowed ones, free ones, somebody else's forgotten one...that was my system. Or I'd simply avoid going out in rain. This has rather spoiled that arrangement. If it goes missing, I'll pay for another without thinking twice. There's still a free umbrella at home, but when that gives up I know what will replace it. The oval handle is useful for hanging from a peg, rather than leaving it propped against things. It springs open with the button; another press gathers the canopy, and I compress the stem to pack it. Having a sleeve is a nice detail too.Never thought I'd be this enthusiastic about an umbrella. Good solid umbrella, and it's handled the windy days I've used it on!

Tanner Norris

So four stars from me ^^

My old folding umbrella was easy to carry, but so small that it did not give me enough cover in the rain. This one is bigger when opened and feels more substantial, which is what I wanted. Opening and collapsing the canopy happen with the button, but shortening the shaft afterward requires quite a firm push. That part is done by hand. People who don't have much strength in their hands might find it difficult to finish putting it away. So four stars from me ^^

Wind is where the flexible frame earns its keep.

For light rain and the more persistent kind, I have been kept about as dry as I could reasonably ask. It covers my head and shoulders properly without being a huge thing to carry around. There is a limit, of course. Once the rain starts arriving practically horizontally, something is getting wet. Usually my trousers. Buying an umbrella has not made the lower half of me waterproof. Wind is where the flexible frame earns its keep. A strong gust can push the canopy inside out, but on mine that has been a temporary change of shape rather than the end of the umbrella. The ribs give instead of trying to remain absolutely rigid. I would much rather have that than something which looks determined right up until it snaps. Getting it facing the proper direction again has been fairly painless. At first I stopped and rather awkwardly guided it back, which only took a few moments but felt much longer with rain coming down my neck. Eventually I got reasonably good at lowering an edge against the ground and easing it back over without a full stop. This is probably best rehearsed somewhere dry. Learning umbrella technique while being soaked is not nearly as entertaining as it sounds, at least for the person holding it. I thought becoming more graceful at this might impress somebody. Apparently people hurrying out of the rain have very little appreciation for a nicely executed umbrella recovery. Their loss... I would not buy any handheld umbrella expecting it to win every argument with the weather. What matters to me is being able to carry on using it afterwards, and this one has been good at that. If your definition of windproof is NEVER moving, you are probably going to be disappointed. If you want something forgiving when the wind catches it, I think this is an excellent choice. There is also something oddly satisfying about giving the flexible canopy a shake afterwards and watching the water jump off. The final recommendation is that I am buying another because I misplaced my original, not because it stopped working. It had seen plenty of ordinary walking and wet days, and looked used, but it was still doing what I needed. Losing it was considerably more annoying than anything it did while I had it.

More cover than I was expecting (a nice surprise!

More cover than I was expecting (a nice surprise!) - not one of those tiny folding umbrellas. It isn't phone-sized once packed away, but thats fine for what I need. The frame feels solid and the whole thing seems well made. Really like that the button opens AND collapses the canopy; I just push the shaft in afterwards. Much less fuss on wet days!UPDATE: still using it, still pleased!UPDATE: hanging onto this one - remains the umbrella I reach for first

Tami Gould

A beautiful, useful umbrella.

Black looks much nicer in person than I thought from the photo, and I've recieved quite a few compliments. It folds neatly so carrying it isn't a bother. I use it when walking across campus, then tuck it into my backpack for class and the lightrail. My skin is quite sensitive and having that patch of shade above me makes sunny walks much more pleasant. A beautiful, useful umbrella.

Ronnie Bush

Most importantly, I come home dry when it rains!

Not sure there is an awful lot to review about an umbrella, but here goes. It's lovely looking - I'm a fan of a nice simple design, so it suits me perfectly. Feels properly made as well! The stitching is neat and the oval handle is pleasant to hold. Most importantly, I come home dry when it rains!

Shaun Travis

I've even had a few nice comments about it.

I walk to work and most days have to wear clothes that really don't need a soaking before I even get there. Since moving to the Northeast, finding an umbrella that folds down but still gives me decent cover has been a big help. This one has kept my work clothes dry in the rain I've walked through, and it feels solid without being awkward to hold. I also like how little fuss there is getting it open when the weather changes. After a shake and some time left open, it dries off nicely rather than staying wet forever. The gray looks good with work clothes, which matters more to me than I thought it would. I've even had a few nice comments about it. Overall, very happy with what I got for the money.

Colin Blackwell

The beige is such a pretty shade!

The beige is such a pretty shade! a soft neutral that looks nice opened up. I haven't owned it long enough to say how it will last, but the first few uses have been good. Getting it neatly into the sleeve needs a little patience, although it does go in. Quite happy taking this out for a walk, even when I only want some shade :)

Darryl Valenzuela

For a small umbrella it def does the job.

I got this to have in my backpack alongside the larger umbrella I already own. For using all day I still prefer the big one. This is much handier to pack though, even if I don't carry an umbrella every single day. The sleeve is useful for storing it.Certainly feels more substantial than some tiny ones but I wouldn't call it featherweight. For a small umbrella it def does the job. I gave it 4/5 because it strikes a better balance between coverage and carrying size than the other compact ones I've used.

Miranda Barrett

The design is practical overall

Had my other umbrella several years, and ordered this when it started wearing out. The design is practical overall; I get good cover over myself and my bag, and it folds to a useful size. What I'm less keen on is pushing the shaft in after the canopy closes itself, though having a button for both opening and closing it is still handy.

Edgar Strong

So glad I chose this umbrella.

So glad I chose this umbrella. There's a nice amount of cover when it's up, enough for two of us provided we walk close together. The oval handle feels quite light in the hand, so I still find myself being a little careful with it. Nothing has broken, I just wouldn't hand it to a child for a sword fight or anything. What really impressed me is the button. I must be behind the times because my old umbrellas all had that little metal catch you had to wrestle with to get them open or shut. Always worried about pinching a finger. (Ouch!) Here I press the button and the whole canopy pops up into place. Pressing it again folds the canopy back, and then I push the telescoping part down myself. No hunting underneath the wet fabric for a sharp little latch. It seems such a simple change but it makes using the thing much nicer.I haven't bought an umbrella in ages and this feels like quite an upgrade. Very happy with it!

Arrived quickly and everything was fine.

Arrived quickly and everything was fine. These umbrella's are black, which suits my grandsons' school colors, and should be useful for their soccer and football games. Sitting through games in Louisiana means needing shade from the heat as well as something for those rainy afternoons.

Annette Kramer

I am looking at a gray one for another friend now.

I ordered one for myself and another for a friend and we are both quite delighted with ours. I am looking at a gray one for another friend now. They are useful, only wish mine took up a little less space in my bag as umbrellas always seem to get left behind by me.

Brenda Vang

This one has been a good middle ground so far.

For years I carried an umbrella that folded down for my briefcase but opened wide enough to be useful. When it was time to replace it, that combination was what I wanted again. I didn't want a long umbrella I'd end up leaving behind somewhere. This one has been a good middle ground so far. It opens readily and has kept me dry on my walks. The frame feels reassuring when a gust comes along, although I haven't owned it long enough to say how many years it will last.My main reservation is the button placement. With the way I hold the handle, my thumb can sit very close to it. I have to pay attention and shift my grip so I don't accidentally fold the canopy while standing underneath it in the rain. Not a huge problem, just worth mentioning. To pack it away, I press for the canopy and push the shaft down by hand. It fits my briefcase and gives proper coverage once opened, which is what I was after, so on balance I'd recommend it.

Ross Quinn

It's a simple, useful umbrella for our California winters.

Black was the obvious choice for my husband; he doesn't see much need for other colours. It's a simple, useful umbrella for our California winters. We haven't had extreme winds to put it through, so I can't speak for that. He likes that there isn't much fuss about it, just press the button and get on with things. Fairly priced too, so replacing it someday wouldn't feel like a major expense.

Colton Stanton

Love how this umbrella looks!

Love how this umbrella looks! (I chose gray) It's really neat and feels well made! Only giving it 4 because it was a little more effort to keep steady when a sharp gust caught it on my second outing. Nothing came apart, I just had to hang on properly & keep it angled. Not quite as effortless as I'd hoped, but NOT a big complaint. Overall I'm pleased with it & would happily use it again!
