I spent a good while reading reviews and comparing umbrellas before deciding on this one. My skin is very fair, so being out in the sunshine is something I have to think about. I walk to work and, being a teacher, have outdoor time during the day as well. This is light enough for me to carry and comfortable to hold.The closed oval handle gives me a useful loop to carry it by. I'd read comments about closing being difficult. After a few days of using it I found pointing it toward the ground before pressing the button seemed to make the canopy fold more easily. You still need to press the telescoping shaft back in afterwards; the button doesn't do that part. I push down on the top, or brace the top against the ground and push the handle toward it, until it is reset.The underside is dark and I do notice that standing in its shade feels cooler. It has only been a few days, so these are early impressions, but at the moment I'm very happy with my choice.

A nice everyday umbrella. Not heavy to carry and it pops open without fuss. Folded up it takes little room, opened out there is plenty of cover for sunshine or showers. The materials feel sturdy. The pink is a little softer than it looked on screen, which is fine with me. Neat looking too.I'm glad I got it.

Looks just as nice as the photo, very smart and quite elegant. I bought it as a Christmas present and was happy with how it looked. Four stars rather than five because pushing the shaft down again takes a bit of effort after the button closes the canopy. A firmer push than I'd prefer. Dispatch seemed rather slow, but it still reached me three days ahead of the earliest estimated arrival, so I really can't grumble about that. The important thing was having it here for Christmas, and it was. A lovely umbrella to give as a present.

Mine was a gift and has been going with me to work in the city for about six years. I use it often, so it has had plenty of actual use rather than just a quick look when it arrived. It has done well for normal rain and the wind I've encountered on those walks. Now, staying dry, be realistic. An umbrella over your head isn't going to protect your trousers when rain is blowing sideways. You can turn it towards the rain and save your head and shoulders, but your legs are still out there. For rain coming down fairly straight, this one is perfectly useful and it folds away when I get inside. If you need to arrive completely dry in a downpour, wear a proper raincoat too. If carrying a compact umbrella is more your style, this is a good choice. Just don't expect it to be a portable room.

My girlfriend loves the simple beige look of her present. No problems so far. Pressing the button makes her feel like she's in a space movie apparently lol. I've used one myself and liked it enough to buy hers, which is funny because I never used to think there was much difference between umbrellas. You tend to notice it when the rain picks up though. Just the sort of umbrella I wanted. The price was sensible, and it feels better put together than I thought it would for the money. It's cute without being fussy, which suits me. Once open there's enough coverage for me and my bag, without having to carry a long umbrella around afterwards. I can hold it high enough to see ahead rather than hiding my whole face under the edge. That matters when there are other people about. It folds away neatly as well. For what I paid, this has been an excellent buy.

Managed to leave my favourite umbrella somewhere, and in Florida you notice pretty quickly when you haven't got one. Replaced it with this model again and ordered a pair this time. One of the better folding umbrellas I've owned, and I've gone through a few. It's been out in wet, breezy Toronto weather and I've not felt I had to baby it. Seems solid considering it folds down. Price was reasonable too- enough to expect decent quality, not so much that I'd panic about leaving it somewhere. A few points-1. The fabric shakes off most drops easily, though I still dry it before putting it away.2. This is mainly cover for one person. You can squeeze two close together underneath, but I wouldn't buy it for sharing regularly.3. The oval handle is quite substantial and not always the most comfortable shape in my large hand. That's a small niggle rather than something that spoils a good umbrella.

I seem to go through several umbrellas a year, mostly because the wind catches them on the streets downtown or near the river. Having one give up during a downpour is particularly irritating. Spending more never felt like much of an answer if it was going to end up in the same state as a cheap one.
This one has been a welcome change! There are 30 flexible ribs supporting the canopy, and it feels substantial rather than flimsy when opened. It has held its shape in the breezes I've encountered so far. The coverage is enough to keep me dry without making it difficult to pass people on a pavement. At roughly 105cm across, it strikes a sensible balance.
Folded, it's about 40cm long, so I can put it away instead of carrying a full-length umbrella around after the rain stops. The closed oval loop makes a comfortable handle, and the button gives a quick, positive opening. It also comes with a sleeve, which is handy for keeping it neatly packed when I don't need it.
After using it in everyday rain, I'm satisfied that this is a practical improvement on the umbrellas I kept replacing. It feels secure in my hand, gives proper shelter, and doesn't require the sort of fuss that makes me leave an umbrella at home.

The bride to be was delighted with this! Such a nice present for her shower. (I admit...I had a few practice goes before wrapping it). The simple style looked just right for the occasion, but it's still a useful umbrella rather than just a decoration. Getting it neatly back into the sleeve was the fiddly part! Closing the canopy is simple, then you push the pole in. After several attempts I got better at arranging the fabric.....better, not perfect!

You still push the telescoping stem in yourself, which is easy enough. I like the plain black look and it fits into my larger purse for days when the forecast can't make up its mind. My old small umbrellas always felt flimsy, so having one that feels this solid has been a nice change.

Looks were my main reason for buying this, and it is just as smart in person. There was a slightly sharp smell when I first opened it.I left it by the window overnight and that mostly went away. Much better!After trying in Boston rain with the usual wind, I would call it a decent everyday umbrella. I don't expect miracles from a compact one, especially when the wind comes from all different directions. I kept the canopy angled towards it rather than letting it catch underneath, which seemed to help. It stayed in shape and nothing got damaged. Not something I would deliberately take into the worst weather, but for the conditions I actually used it in, I was satisfied.

The Umbrella was for the English Wife and she says it is Fantastic.....the button is very handy.....the sleeve is for putting it away.....and it all folds down quite nicely when she has finished with it ! For what i paid this has been a really good buy. There's a lot of room over one person, and two of us can squeeze underneath if we stay close. The gray looks nice and the cloth doesn't feel thin. I didn't have much idea what to look for since i'd never actually shopped for an umbrella, so i wasn't expecting too much. This has done better than that.It goes up easily and has handled light wind without any trouble so far. I almost knocked half a star off because it's a bit weightier than i expected, but using it has been so straightforward that i'm happy with five. Seems like something i'll get plenty of use from.

I'd been thinking about getting an umbrella to use as shade for a couple of years. I wanted enough coverage to make it worthwhile, but kept wondering if I would actually carry it. Well, I wish I'd done it sooner. The sun really gets to me, especially on my lunchtime walks. My usual route is about two and a half miles beside the water, with very little shelter. Getting back to work hot and sweaty was bad enough without the darker arms and those odd marks around my sunglasses. It feels solid in a breeze and hasn't been difficult to keep steady. There's more room under it than I expected, though it's still a bit much to have open for every short stroll. Having it fold down fairly small helps with that. If the day looks only mildly sunny and I'm debating whether it's worth taking, I can pack it anyway and decide once I'm out. I honestly love having it. I don't arrive back feeling quite so cooked, which was the whole point for me. I've had it out in heavy rain as well, and the canopy gave me good protection then too. Not just something for sunny days after all. If you've been putting off trying an umbrella for shade, I'd say give it a go!

I've used it for about a year, usually with my child riding on my back. It gives us both decent cover, which I wasn't sure a folding umbrella would do! In everyday rain it has been very useful. The really heavy downpours are another matter, especially when rain blows in sideways. I still get wet around the edges then, so it isn't complete protection in that sort of weather. There isn't anything visibly wrong with it, just a limit to how much it can cover. I do keep using it because it keeps most of the rain off both of us, and carrying a smaller one would be worse. It has also coped well with breezy days. Folding everything neatly takes a bit of patience when a child is trying to help, but that's hardly the umbrella's fault. Overall I would recommend it, with realistic expectations for the very heavy rain.

I absolutely adore this umbrella. Took me a minute to work out the little button thing-a-ma-bob, but once I knew what I was doing it opened beautifully. I chose this umbrella for a weekend of volunteering at an outdoor charity event. I needed something sturdy enough for the rain we were expecting, but not so large that carrying it between jobs would become a nuisance. The blue appealed to me as well. I was also thinking about the photographer beside me and whether we could both duck under it when necessary. It did a very good job in the wet, blustery spells we had. For two people you do need to stand close; it is a compact umbrella, not a huge shelter. What impressed me was how solid it felt while still being manageable to fold up and carry. After that weekend I was confident it would get plenty of use on my landscape photography outings and ordinary walks. My tall husband finds it comfortable to use too, though it isn't an oversized umbrella. This is the sort of practical umbrella I would be pleased to give someone.

The compact size and quick button action make sense to me. Why keep buying cheap umbrellas that need replacing? Slip a belt through the closed oval handle and you can carry it folded with both hands free, even without a bag along. A useful arrangement for something you might otherwise leave behind. Nearly everything I wear is black and white, so I wanted something that stood out.The green looks beautiful, quite elegant against a gloomy sky. I'd like to carry it for shade as well, although being fairly wide and such a noticeable colour I'm not sure how much I will do that. Opening it is easy, closing the canopy too.
