This one has a solid build and useful coverage.

After carrying this for a while, I picked up my old smaller umbrella and noticed how flimsy it felt by comparison. This one has a solid build and useful coverage. I even used it while i was at the grill in the rain, and holding it one handed wasn't a problem. Does the job without feeling like it needs babying.

We bought a pair last year, one apiece for my husband and me. He lost his and ended up with mine. I soon discovered I REALLY missed having it, so another had to be ordered for me. No wrestling with a canopy in the rain, just press to put it up and press again to fold it. So glad to have mine back!

I hold it fairly close when rain is coming sideways.

This lives in my bag for the train commute, handy when the weather changes before I get downtown. The cover is enough for me without taking over the whole pavement. I hold it fairly close when rain is coming sideways. Opening it with the button is especially useful when I'm already juggling my bag.

So far I am pleased with the quality.

We don't get a lot of rain where I live, so this hasn't had a huge amount of use yet. On the occasions I've taken it out it has felt solid, including when it was a bit breezy. The canopy gives me a comfortable amount of space underneath without having to huddle up. No loose stitching or bent pieces that I've noticed. That's based on perhaps five outings in fairly gentle rain though, rather than months of constant use. So far I am pleased with the quality.

so that was me learning how it works, not a problem with it.

i'd expected the whole umbrella to shrink with one press and got a little confused when only the canopy folded :( hadn't used this kind before.UPDATE:after taking a proper look, the pole is meant to be pushed in by hand, and once i did that it was ready to go again. so that was me learning how it works, not a problem with it.the umbrella feels really nice, i've had a few nice comments already and the green matches what i saw in the picture. being able to open it or gather the canopy with a button is so helpful when i'm carrying a bunch of stuff.

An attractive umbrella that gets used rather than just admired.

An attractive umbrella that gets used rather than just admired. It suits my EGL outfits & gives welcome shade in summer. The pink canopy and black underside look lovely together. Folding it away is a definite advantage. Some of the pricier parasols I've seen haven't been nearly as appealing.

The speed it springs open surprised me, especially when getting caught in proper rain. I've stayed dry underneath it, with no drips coming through even in a heavy shower. My trouser bottoms still get splashed if the rain blows sideways, but I wasn't expecting full body protection. It's easy to put away before going inside and hasn't taken ages to dry. I spent a long time trying to choose a small umbrella and feel I chose well. Doesn't weigh much in my hand, yet has a reassuringly solid feel rather than that flimsy feeling some have.

I walk about a mile from my apartment to work and go right past a golf practice field, there is nothing much to stop the wind there so an umbrella gets a proper test, this one has stayed comfortable to hold and kept the rain off me. The cover is a good size for one person and it cost less than some others I looked at, for my daily walk I feel it was money well spent.

A useful thing to have with you.

My grown daughter was after a pretty umbrella of her own and the pink one seemed just right. It makes a wet day a little more cheerful, and she can put it in her bigger handbag rather than have another thing in her hands. Folded up its a nice size for a tote, but opened out there is enough room to stay dry. A useful thing to have with you.

This one is solid.

I normally buy the cheap little umbrellas and then wonder why I'm shopping for another so soon. Spent a bit more this time and I'm glad I did. This one is solid. The button action is pretty satisfying. I feel ridiculously important popping it open when the rain starts. This was money well spent, no regrets. It gives me a decent amount of room, or two smaller people if they don't mind being close

It's not great when the wind kicks up either.

Compact and pretty sharp looking;I also like the button opening and canopy closing. But that's about the extent of it for me.I'm 6'3", 260 lbs. and around 105cm of cover is barely enough for my size. It's not great when the wind kicks up either. For a spring/summer shower, light to moderate rain, it makes sense. If you're after more protection in rough weather, I'd get something larger.

Kaitlin Santos

I had it out in the wind and rain on St.

I had it out in the wind and rain on St. Patrick's Day and it did what I'd hoped. The oval loop handle was handy at the restaurant, I clipped it to my bag instead of leaving the umbrella lying about. Being able to fold it down is a real convenience too. Opened up, my girlfriend and I could just about share it, though there wasn't much spare space. It stayed steady through the gusts we had that day, so I'm pleased with how this little umbrella handled itself!

Jacob Bonilla

They love standing underneath it!

The twins are four and this is their first proper umbrella. They love standing underneath it! I do the button and hold it for them, but they are very keen to help. Its rounded canopy gives them a nice sheltered spot on wet days and it feels sturdy in my hand. No problems with it so far.

Xavier Hardy

I've enjoyed carrying this umbrella.

I've enjoyed carrying this umbrella. Folded it goes in the side pocket of my backpack, but there's still a useful amount of cover once it's up. The button gets the canopy out quickly and collapses it again; then I push the stem in to pack it away. Nothing awkward to pinch my fingers. I like the plain black look too. Rainy, blustery walks haven't been a problem so far. You do still need to keep a firm grip when a gust catches it, as it can pull at your hand. The frame itself has felt steady rather than turning inside out.

Larry Sampson

Will it be the last umbrella I ever own?

Well, walking the dogs at lunchtime means I can't simply stay indoors when the summer rain starts. I decided I needed something with a bit more cover. For the money I wasn't expecting anything special, so this has been a pleasant surprise. Feels decently built and has enough room over me while I'm juggling leads. Will it be the last umbrella I ever own? Doubtful, but that wasn't what I paid for. A very worthwhile purchase!

Gabriella Avery

Not a fault, just the way it resets.

A lovely umbrella, and I like being able to open it & collapse the canopy with one button. One thing for older hands to NOTE though: the pole does not shorten itself. You still need to push it right down manually before it's ready for the next opening. That part takes a firm push, much more than the button does. I'm 60 and reasonably strong, so I can manage it by holding the handle steady & pressing down from the top. Not a fault, just the way it resets. Worth bearing in mind if you have arthritis or find pushing things together difficult. Otherwise, I'm delighted with it.

Glenda Hart

My only real compromise is the coverage.

I kept this on my wishlist for months because I couldn't decide from the reviews whether a compact umbrella would be enough. I wanted it for following my daughter's golf tournaments. What I had before was a nuisance to carry around all day, particularly when you only needed shade now and then or it looked like rain but hadn't started. I noticed a few college coaches carrying smaller umbrellas and thought that made more sense for me. Eventually I decided some of the things people wanted weren't really what I needed it for. I bought it for the summer and have been very pleased!! Mine is black, with black underneath also. There is a noticeable difference between having some shade over you and just standing out in the sunshine watching the golf. It is comfortable to carry in one hand and doesn't feel like another big thing to drag along. The button is handy when you want it open quickly. It closes the canopy too, then you push the shaft back down yourself. Once folded it takes up much less room than what I was carrying before. The loop handle took a little getting used to but I like having something enclosed to hold onto. My only real compromise is the coverage. For me on my own it is enough, but it isn't one of those enormous golf umbrellas and I wouldn't expect it to be. For the price I am happy with that choice. If you spend a lot of time following tournament play this is worth considering. Another parent mentioned having trouble taking a pointed umbrella on a plane, something I hadn't even considered before. I can't speak for airline rules with this one, but the shorter folded size is certainly something I'd look at when packing for tournaments.

I wouldn't pick it for really wild weather, but ordinary rain is fine.

Getting into the car in the rain is much easier with the button, and that is the main reason I'm keeping this umbrella. For a trip to the cafe or a few shops it has been perfectly useful. I wouldn't pick it for really wild weather, but ordinary rain is fine. Packing it away is the less enjoyable part. After the canopy folds you still press the pole down yourself, then get all the fabric tidy (which I never seem to manage quickly). It feels a bit bulky once rolled, and fitting it back into the sleeve takes patience. I don't bother with that on every outing. Still, the convenience at the car outweighs the fiddling for me.

Mackenzie Ayers

useful coverage, solid feel and not awkward once folded.

The positive reviews persuaded me to try it. So far, they were right....useful coverage, solid feel and not awkward once folded. Price mattered too ....for what you get it seemed a sensible buy. Big enough to do the job without carrying a full length umbrella.

Deborah Burnett

Once it's put away, no complaints really, and it keeps me dry.

The umbrella itself is good and the opening button works straight away. Closing the canopy is easy too, but pushing the shaft back down takes more effort than I'd like. Not much of a problem when I've got a minute, just a nuisance when rushing. That's my reason for four stars rather than five. Once it's put away, no complaints really, and it keeps me dry.

Ellen Farley

Packs away nicely and looks like the photo...

For the money it is a handy little thing, doesn't eat up all the room in a bag. When abroad I used to get caught needing an umbrella, now I already have one with me... Packs away nicely and looks like the photo... For one person it's fine, a bigger person might want more cover.

Gwendolyn Duffy

Otherwise I like it.

Good umbrella overall, the handle has a nice solid feel, uhmm the button is handy for opening it and folding the canopy. The part I find less easy is shortening it afterward, that needs a firmer push than I expected. You do have to compress the telescoping shaft fully by hand before it'll open again, that's just how it resets. Once I understood that it made sense, but still a bit of effort. Otherwise I like it.

He was soooo delighted to have an umbrella of his own!!!

This was meant to be my grandson's Christmas present, then his birthday present, and it turned up after both had passed. By that point I was wondering whether I should have bothered waiting. Then he opened it...what a reaction!!! He was soooo delighted to have an umbrella of his own!!! He wanted to show the family straight away, and friends have asked him about it too. The loop handle is different from the umbrellas we're used to, which he thinks is wonderful. I had expected the late arrival to spoil the whole thing, but he didn't care about that once he had it in his hands. Now a rainy day is apparently something to look forward to rather than complain about. He's keen to carry it even when there's hardly a drizzle. Not the timing I planned at all, but seeing how much he enjoys it makes me glad I waited. A big hit with him!!!!!!

Darrell Sexton

Wide enough and seems sturdy.

Wide enough and seems sturdy. The button closes the canopy, but you still have to compress the pole yourself, which takes a firm push. Not a huge issue, just less effortless than I imagined. This is more than I normally spend on an umbrella, and so far it has worked well.

Very happy now they've arrived.

Every year we end up choosing flowers for the teachers, and I always notice them trying to manage bouquets along with everything else when the evening finishes. They're very kind about them, but the flowers tend to look a bit sorry by home time.Which started me looking for a different present. I wanted to spend roughly our usual flower money, only on something that would last beyond the summer and still feel like a personal choice. Umbrellas seemed such a good answer once we thought of them. I spent ages looking online, and these looked so pretty in the pictures that I chose nine. A slightly nervous decision without having held one, but there we are. They are lovely!! Very happy now they've arrived. The button works smoothly and the oval loop handles are comfortable to hold. They feel much more substantial than the cheap umbrellas we normally end up with, but not heavy in that tiresome way that makes you leave them at home. Being compacts I wondered if there would actually be enough room underneath, but opened up they are a good size for one (not really something I'd choose for two people). I think they make a really nice teacher present. Useful, but a bit of a treat as well, and something I probably wouldn't think to spend the money on for myself, although I'd certainly be happy to unwrap one. The pink is cheerful without looking wildly fussy, which was what I wanted. This one is going to a woman, though I think it would be a perfectly nice choice for anyone who enjoys the colour.

Makayla Mckinney

Definitely a purchase I'd recommend!

Somehow I made it to 34 without ever buying myself an umbrella. Apparently being grown up includes deciding that arriving soaked isn't that much fun anymore. It came looking neat and well put together. Opened up, there's plenty of cover for me, and packed away it isn't a great long thing to cart about. I'm impressed with how substantial it feels for something that folds. Why did I put this off so long?! Definitely a purchase I'd recommend!

Troy Woodard

So far this has been a very decent umbrella.

So far this has been a very decent umbrella. We've used it for a few months without anything to complain about. Feels solid and goes into a backpack or a larger handbag quite happily. Two of us can shelter under it if we stand close together. we'll see how it gets on through more wet weather before ordering another, but it has made a good start.

Tonya Lloyd

this looks more muted.

Nearly everything about it suits me, except the green isn't quite the shade I thought I was getting. I pictured something fresher; this looks more muted. (More garden shade than bright leaves) The build feels good and the button works smoothly. I'll keep using it rather than bother with an exchange, but the colour was the reason it lost a star.

Glenn Burch

Apart from that I think it's great.

I'm happy with this, opens as expected and there is enough canopy to keep me covered properly. The material feels like decent umbrella fabric too. Getting the shaft pushed back in takes more effort than I expected though, the button closes the canopy but doesn't do that part. My arms aren't very strong so I brace the handle against myself to finish it. Apart from that I think it's great. Hopefully the mechanism keeps working as nicely for a good long while :)

Kayla Perry

Overall, I think it is a good umbrella for the price.

Pros: The shade is the main reason I wanted this, and in a desert climate it makes a noticeable difference to being out in the sun. Compared with the ordinary umbrella I had been borrowing, standing under this one is more comfortable. I would not say it makes the heat disappear, but not having the sun directly on me is a considerable improvement. The black interior is pleasant to look up into, too. Once opened, it is quite a generous size for something that folds down, although I would consider it room for one person rather than something to share without getting rather friendly. Cons: With lengthy use, the less convenient bits become more noticeable. The button collapses the canopy, but you still have to compress the telescoping pole yourself before putting it away. Nothing wrong with that arrangement, it is simply another step when you are using it repeatedly throughout the day. I also find the closed loop handle less comfortable for a long stretch than for a quick walk. It gives me a secure hold, but there is not much opportunity to change where my hand rests. Folded up, the umbrella takes more bag space than I had hoped, though that seems a reasonable trade for its open size. Overall, I think it is a good umbrella for the price. For occasional shade and everyday rain I would have very little to grumble about. For my particular habit of carrying it for hours and constantly putting it away again, there are a few compromises. I am pleased with the coverage, just not completely sold on the comfort over longer periods.

Everything arrived promptly and neatly packed!

Picked up a few for the bridesmaids at my wedding, and I'm hoping they'll be as taken with them as I am! Pretty AND something they'll actually use. No proper rain test yet, but I did put one up to have a look and it feels surprisingly substantial for something you can tuck in a bag. They should be handy if a shower catches us out, and nice to keep afterwards too. Everything arrived promptly and neatly packed!

Caroline Garcia

Well, rain arrived and that was forgotten!

Our 4 and 7 year olds were asking for umbrellas with characters on them, so I wasn't sure a plain one would get much excitement. Well, rain arrived and that was forgotten! They were fascinated by the drops rolling off and wanted to stay outside watching. Apparently rain is an activity now! The umbrella seems sturdy, and they love pressing the button with me there. I do the final push down of the shaft when we're finished. It's not a tiny children's umbrella, so we use it together.

Sarah Hull

The loop handle feels substantial rather than tiny in your hand.

I've used automatic umbrellas before and chose this one for myself and another for my daughter. The button is the part I wouldn't want to be without. Getting out of the car with things in my hands is so much less of a fuss, and arriving at work I can close the canopy before bringing it inside. You still have to press the pole back into its folded position yourself, which took a little getting used to but is easy enough. The loop handle feels substantial rather than tiny in your hand. My advice is to go for the button type if you carry stuff around, I find it hard to go back to a plain manual umbrella now.

Maureen Melton

Not a big issue, just worth knowing.

I have always been a bit particular about umbrellas because some look good and then do not seem worth the money when you actually use them. I hadn't tried Haven before, so I did have some doubts about how this one would compare with what I was used to. After using it, I think the quality is there, not just the appearance. It opens out nicely and the rain coverage is good, which is really the point at the end of it. Sometimes umbrellas lose that solid feeling after being carried about, but so far this one is doing very well in that way. The button closes the canopy too, although pushing the telescoping part back in yourself is a little less convenient than I hoped. Not a big issue, just worth knowing.Price: B+ Convenience: B Overall: B+

It then rained, so I got to try it for that too.

I haven't taken this to the beach yet, but we brought it camping for a bit of shade. Holding it over me in the bright sun was much nicer than sitting there squinting, and the frame felt steady while I used it. It then rained, so I got to try it for that too. Kept me nicely dry until the shower passed, and was straightforward to pack away once the sky cleared. Glad we brought it!

Kaitlin Mosley

Oval loop handle rather than a hook.

For an everyday umbrella without unnecessary extras, this serves well. Opens at a button press. Canopy closes the same way. Pole shortens by hand. Flexible ribs. Oval loop handle rather than a hook. Manageable weight. Supplied sleeve fits snugly. Straightforward and functional.

Max Peters

He's been pleased with it on the few blocks he walks each morning.

My husband received this from me just before we had a run of miserable, rainy weather. His old umbrella was torn, so the timing made me look very clever (apparently I can predict the weather now). He's been pleased with it on the few blocks he walks each morning. It covers him properly without being a nuisance to carry once it is folded, which was really what he needed. I'm considering a second one for him to keep at work, then he won't have to remember to bring this one back and forth. Definitely a purchase I'm glad I made.

You do still need to mind the edges

Anyone who walks through New York knows that an umbrella can be as much trouble as help when the pavements are crowded. I usually spend half my time tilting mine or lifting it to avoid other people's faces, so I wanted something that wasn't awkward to manage.I was given this at Christmas & tried it during a spell of rain and sleet. It kept me dry and was easy to handle as I moved through the crowds. You do still need to mind the edges; it isn't some magic solution to crowded streets. The button was especially handy when I needed the canopy down quickly, then I pushed the shaft back in by hand. I also think it looks quite pretty without being fussy. Folded up, it's a much easier thing to carry than my old full-length umbrella. For somebody who spends a lot of time walking in town, I think it would make a useful gift. Too soon to judge years of use, but my first outing went well.

Preston Livingston

One of my favourite umbrellas so far!

One of my favourite umbrellas so far! The canopy gives a good amount of cover, so my shoulders aren't constantly getting wet. It feels substantial once opened without being a nuisance to carry folded. It has also coped nicely with the summer downpours here in Florida. Definitely one I'd recommend to somebody else.

Mariah Whitehead

SO-O-O nice to have some cover!

Having a folding umbrella for the grandchildren's summer ball games has been GREAT. I get a proper patch of shade without carrying one of those enormous golf umbrellas about. Sitting in the sun for a whole game gets old very quickly...SO-O-O nice to have some cover! It gives shade over my hands as well as my face, and when we get a shower I can stay put instead of immediately scrambling for shelter. (Still keeping an eye on those foul balls though :-) I was hesitant about spending this much on an umbrella, because I do like a bargain, but I'm glad I did. It feels substantial, opens quickly and folds down to a manageable size. For watching the grandchildren or just having shade handy, I think it is money well spent. I've already told the family how useful it is.

Cheryl Fernandez

I would recommend this to anyone wanting a reliable umbrella.

I bought this green umbrella recently , and i feel very pleased with it. The green design looks simple and smart, and goes nicely with whatever clothes I have on. It feels firmly made and has stayed steady for me in heavy rain and windy weather. Opening and closing the canopy is smooth and straightforward. I particularly like the handle, it sits comfortably in my hand even when I carry it for a while. The fabric and frame seem made to last, and most importantly I have stayed dry underneath it. So far it has given me everything I wanted and i am glad I chose it. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a reliable umbrella.

Happy with how they are working out.

Ordered a pair for my four year old twins and they were thrilled to have their own umbrellas. The loop handles are a big hit and they like being able to press a button to open them. They seem sturdy, not like the little ones we had before. There is a lot more room over their heads, so the rain isn't coming straight onto their shoulders. Happy with how they are working out.

Briana Ramirez

The blue is fairly understated, which suits me.

It feels substantial in the hand, operates simply, and keeps me reasonably dry. My expectations went no further than that, and it meets them. The blue is fairly understated, which suits me. I don't need an umbrella to be much of a talking point, I just want it to work when the rain starts.

Stuart Martinez

There are limits to how much dignity an umbrella can lend you.

A little pricey and not the featherweight option, but I have become oddly attached to this umbrella. It feels substantial, opens without a struggle and has kept me dry on my commute. The gray looks rather distinguished too. Other umbrellas seem to arrive apologising for existing; this one appears ready to get on with the job. I have even had fellow commuters admire it, which is a ridiculous thing to feel proud of, but there we are. You can keep buying the cheapest little emergency umbrella, or get something you actually enjoy carrying. Apparently I am now the sort of person with opinions about umbrellas. Treat yourself if that sounds familiar. Just don't give yours a dramatic entrance and its own theme tune every time it rains. There are limits to how much dignity an umbrella can lend you.

She's three and already very sure of what she likes.

She's three and already very sure of what she likes. The umbrella went all around the house and out into the yard with her. She wanted Grandma underneath too and thought that was wonderful. Now she's waiting for rain so she can carry it along the sidewalk. Seeing her so pleased with something this simple has been a real treat.

Overall, solid umbrella for the money.

Build quality & value are good, feels much more substantial than the flimsy ones I've had. Managed the gusts well. Chose black - happy with the plain look.Handle is the part I'd change. The closed oval shape doesn't give my hand as much length to grip as I'd like, and the weight feels a little high up when I'm holding it. I'd prefer a longer grip. I find myself holding nearer the shaft to feel comfortable. It's around 40cm folded, so it sticks out of my work bag instead of disappearing inside. Open size is fine for me, although I was expecting a bit more room. None of that makes it a bad buy. Four stars mostly for how the handle fits my hand; a longer grip would make a big difference. Overall, solid umbrella for the money.

Mindy Molina

It looks lovely and people have said nice things about it.

It looks lovely and people have said nice things about it. I'm pleased overall, though it feels lighter in construction than I expected, so I handle it fairly carefully. The button closes the canopy, but pushing the stem down afterwards needs a firm hand. For the light rain we get in Texas it's perfectly useful, just not quite a five star umbrella for me.

Ashlee Copeland

I LOVE the pink, it is such a nice colour!

With broad shoulders and a college backpack to cover, I've had umbrellas that just didn't give me enough space. This one seems roomy enough for what I need, and looks cute without being childish. The oval loop on the handle also makes it easy to hang up in my closet. I LOVE the pink, it is such a nice colour!

Jane Short

Well, I am genuinely impressed with this umbrella.

Well, I am genuinely impressed with this umbrella. There's enough cover that I don't have to hunch my shoulders, and it has felt solid on breezy days here. The loop handle is comfortable in my hand. It's compact, but not the tiny featherweight kind you forget you're carrying! I probably won't put it in every bag. For an outdoor concert, a picnic, or a day when I've actually bothered with my hair, though, I'm very happy to have it. Money well spent.

Mandy Kirk

Finally, an umbrella I can actually get excited about!!!

Finally, an umbrella I can actually get excited about!!! Most days I don't bother getting one out for a few drops. Damp air, drizzle, whatever, I can live with that. But let me spend some time getting my hair just right and suddenly I am VERY concerned about the weather. A ridiculous little thing to worry about, I know, but there it is! When I've made an effort for something special and those grey clouds turn into proper rain, having this ready makes me feel much better. The canopy gives me room without having to hold it practically against my head (a big plus for the hair situation). And the green is so cheerful on a miserable day. Folded up, it is compact rather than tiny, so a little evening bag isn't going to swallow it- that's fine with me. Being able to pop it open with a button is handy when I'm trying to get outside quickly. I leave it spread out to dry before packing it away, rather than putting it straight into the sleeve soaking wet. My recent move was such a last-minute scramble that I couldn't take everything, and this ended up staying behind...now I'm thinking another one needs to be on my shopping list. Didn't expect to miss an umbrella quite this much! I'd definitely recommend it!
