Now I've worked that out, it's a thoroughly excellent umbrella.
This umbrella deserves a tiny parade and possibly its own theme song. Much more solid than I expected, and the button makes getting it up in the rain REALLY easy. One press folds the canopy again, which is handy when you're done. You do still push the telescoping part down yourself. I managed to make that seem complicated on the first go, but I can turn putting socks on into a technical challenge. Now I've worked that out, it's a thoroughly excellent umbrella.

He is very attached to his umbrella.
My two year old boy decided he absolutely had to have an umbrella, and wasn't letting the idea go. Given how things usually get treated around here, I wasn't expecting very much. This one looked nice and the price was reasonable, so that was the choice. Well, it has been here for something like three or four months now and I'm pleasantly surprised. Still looks good, still does what it should, even though it gets dragged into far more than rainy days. He likes to sit under it in the sunshine while the sprinkler is running, and would take it to bed if I let him. I do the opening and folding for him. He is very attached to his umbrella.

I like how much cover I get without carrying a long umbrella.
Spring in the Pacific Northwest pretty much guarantees wet weather.....and usually some wind with it. This has been fine in the rain and the lighter gusts I've had so far. Haven't tried it in anything really wild yet. I like how much cover I get without carrying a long umbrella.
Dawn Mcintyre
It has coped nicely with the breezes between buildings so far.
City pavements can be crowded and this gives me enough cover without feeling like I'm carrying a tent. It has coped nicely with the breezes between buildings so far. I like the cream white outside against the dark underside, a simple combination that looks smart.
Marco Hayes
Even the button action feels good.
I hesitated over ordering an umbrella from pictures alone, because they don't tell you much about the feel of the fabric or whether it will be nicely put together. Still, the design appealed to me and the price seemed reasonable enough to try. Once it arrived I was much more impressed than I expected. It opens to a generous size, yet folds down to something I can actually carry, and the frame feels substantial rather than flimsy. Even the button action feels good. Finding something useful that also looks the way I hoped, without spending a fortune, made me very happy. I let my friends know about it straight away, as it felt like a genuinely good buy.

There is even room for her husband to tuck in beside her.
I chose this for my boyfriend's mother for her walks in the damp, foggy weather. She loves the blue colour and says it's easy to carry but still feels sturdy. There is even room for her husband to tuck in beside her. A useful gift, a cheerful colour and good value for something that was a bit of a surprise.

It's like being able to bring a patch of tree shade along with me.
Summers in the Central Valley get seriously hot, and I wanted some shade walking the golf course. With this gray umbrella overhead I'm still hot, obviously, but much more comfortable than walking in full sun. It's like being able to bring a patch of tree shade along with me. The frame looks substantial too, so I expect it will be useful for rainy winter walks as well as summer.
Zachary Galloway
Overall, an excellent purchase for the price.
The umbrella arrived in good order, with a neat finish and no obvious flaws. There is some weight to it, but I consider that reasonable for the coverage and substantial frame. The closed oval loop was an important part of my choice, as it gives me a convenient way to carry and hold it. It folds down for storage without leaving me with a full-length umbrella. Overall, an excellent purchase for the price.
Nathan Noble
The umbrella looks lovely.
Neatly packed. The umbrella looks lovely. Using it is so simple!! I opened it indoors first... probably shouldn't tempt the umbrella superstition :) Oh well! A second press draws the fabric back in, then I shorten the shaft by hand. That part was new to me! It's a much nicer umbrella than my old one. Usually I groan when rain is forecast, but now I'm almost looking forward to a reason to take this out. Quite a change for me!

For what I paid, I'm more than satisfied with the quality.
Rain always seems to start when I'm leaving work or getting out of the car. I ended up buying two -- keeping one at the office and the other in the car. I've misplaced enough little umbrellas, so having a regular place for these helps. They fold down neatly but give me plenty of cover once opened. The loop handle is comfortable to hold and a press of the button gets the canopy up without any fiddling. Both have been used in some proper downpours with a bit of wind and I've stayed dry. Nothing has felt flimsy or difficult to use. For what I paid, I'm more than satisfied with the quality.

Much nicer walking round with shade of my own!
Had this umbrella a couple of weeks now and it has already come along on our walks round the golf course, although remembering to take it out of the house was apparently more difficult than choosing one in the first place. Hubby has his clubs to think about and I tend to remember everything else, just not always the umbrella! Once we actually had it along I was quite pleased to have some shade. Mostly I'm there to watch, but if we play in the couples league again like last year I could see us wanting one each.
A friend spotted it while it was still folded and started joking that we weren't allowed to bring something that smart onto the course. He hadn't even seen it open yet! Told him he could laugh but I wasn't giving up my shade. We had a chuckle over that.
Anyway... I do a lot of walking beside hubby and usually end up pushing his cart as well. His friends think he has a pretty good arrangement there and I can't really argue. I can hold this in one hand and manage the cart with the other, though when he's picking a club I have to get myself out of his way a bit. Not difficult, just different from walking along with nothing in my hand. There is a little more shuffling about when I stop to help him with something, but I'm getting the hang of that.
BTW - my idea of a golfing umbrella was always something enormous, so I wasn't sure about taking a compact one. For me just walking along it's been quite enough. Opening it with a press is handy when my other hand is occupied, and I like that the ribs have some flexibility. Not planning to see what sort of weather it can survive, just happy carrying it for shade and the occasional shower.
The Cream White is sooo pretty too, especially with the dark underneath. It looks nice folded, but even nicer when I'm actually using it =D
I did spend some time looking before deciding, because this was really something for me tagging along rather than another piece of golf equipment for hubby. Didn't want a huge thing to carry home afterwards either. Glad I finally remembered to bring it instead of leaving it sitting at home where it wasn't doing either of us any good. Much nicer walking round with shade of my own!

It also gives a welcome patch of shade when the sun is out.
For everyday use, I have to say I'm really impressed with how steady this feels. I've taken it out on breezy days and haven't had it turn over on me. It also gives a welcome patch of shade when the sun is out. The size suits me well and one press of the button gets it open, which I really appreciate.
Ricardo Mendez
Really impressed by this umbrella.
Really impressed by this umbrella. The open canopy gives more cover than I pictured, and I'm pleased it still folds away.It doesn't get constant use here in Southern California, but I wanted something decent when it does rain.A few people I know have already ordered one after having a look at mine.
Luke Alexander
Very impressed.
So we get plenty of damp, breezy weather here in New England and I wanted to see how this would do. Took it out in rain with some GUSTS that made me hang on, but the canopy never tried to flip. Kept most of the rain off even when it was coming in at an angle. Very impressed. It feels substantial rather than like something I'd throw away after a few outings. More than I'd usually pay for an umbrella, yes, but I appreciate the solid feel and the quick opening. Looks good too. For what it's done for me so far, what else could I ask?

This has stayed in lovely condition through quite a few years of my daughter's use. She was nearly seven when she first had it and has carried it often, with people still saying how nice it looks. Whether she'll be as keen on it around her friends as she gets older, who knows, but we've certainly had a lot of enjoyment from this umbrella.
Geoffrey Blake
Does everything I wanted an umbrella to do.
Does everything I wanted an umbrella to do. It feels more expensive than it was and has kept the rain off me nicely. A bit more coverage would be welcome, but that's me wanting a bigger umbrella after choosing a compact one. Nothing to complain about with what I received. Money well spent.
Adrian Ferguson
I let it dry properly at home.
The folded size is handy to carry, and it has coped nicely with wind so far. My one reservation is putting it away after rain. When I'm going in and out, getting the damp folds neat enough for the sleeve is a bit of a nuisance. I let it dry properly at home. Four stars for that little inconvenience, though overall it's been a good umbrella for me.

Helpful service and a nice umbrella too.
We needed the umbrellas for a Wedding on saturday and I was a bit nervous about ordering so close to it. I asked about the timing on tuesday evening and the reply was helpful, no fuss at all. The parcel was here on friday so we had them ready with a day to spare. The pink looks lovely and now rain isn't something we have to worry about quite so much. Really appreciate how smoothly it all went. Helpful service and a nice umbrella too. If we need any more I would happily order from here again.

A windy day on a trip finished off my previous umbrella...
A windy day on a trip finished off my previous umbrella...right when I needed it...not ideal. I actually enjoy using umbrellas, even though my family seem to think this is a strange personal hobby. So I did some looking around (quite a lot of looking, really) and settled on this one. I wanted decent cover without something so enormous I would leave it at home. This has worked out nicely. Two of us can squeeze underneath for a short walk, although its definitely a snug arrangement. Funny how the people who tease me about carrying one are always first to come over when it starts raining. We're both fairly average sized women, for reference. It isn't a burden to carry and the button gets it open quickly. I've read complaints about the handle, but I haven't found it awkward. The closed oval loop isn't the shape I'm used to, but it doesn't feel uncomfortable or cheap to me.It all feels like it belongs together. We've had some windy rain here and so far its coped perfectly well.
Monica Burnett
The oval handle is nicely finished and feels solid in my hand.
I wanted an umbrella to finish off my Halloween costume and spent longer than I should deciding whether it was worth paying for something I might only use for one night. In the end I went for this pink one and I'm so glad I did. It brought the whole costume together, and quite a few people commented on how good it looked with everything else. It wasn't just a prop that looked nice from a distance either, it actually feels like a proper, sturdy umbrella. Since Halloween I've kept it in the stand with our usual umbrellas and it looks just as nice there. The oval handle is nicely finished and feels solid in my hand. I like that I can carry on using it for rain rather than put it away with the costume. If you're looking for an umbrella to complete an outfit but still want something useful afterwards, I'd recommend this.
Ruben Rios
This has had plenty of use with all the rain this year.
After too many umbrellas that left my shoulders wet, I wanted a bit more coverage. This has had plenty of use with all the rain this year. There's space for me and a bag of groceries without everything pressing against the fabric. You cant fit a whole group under it, but it folds away neatly and for keeping one person dry it's been a really good choice.
Melvin Craig
Haven't owned it long enough to know how it will wear.
This is a pretty umbrella, though the fabric doesn't feel quite as substantial as on some I've owned. I chose it for the cream white colour and because I wanted something that folds away. It covers me properly, which was the main thing, so four stars seems fair. I already have two other umbrellas, pretty much necessary living in Portland. This one is for taking out when I want to keep my hair dry without carrying a long umbrella around. Haven't owned it long enough to know how it will wear. The material may prove perfectly fine, it just feels different from what I'm used to, so I'm reserving judgement on that part.
Christie Baker
It feels solid and has been keeping me dry between classes.
My mother bought this for me to use at college because we get so much rain here. It feels solid and has been keeping me dry between classes. I LOVE how it looks in person, much nicer than I expected from the picture. Would happily have another just like it. SO HAPPY
Candace Sheppard
Sun lotions bother my skin so I bought this for some shade.
summer here can get to 120 degrees fahrenheit, even more sometimes. Sun lotions bother my skin so I bought this for some shade. There is a good area underneath for me, and someone close beside me can share a little. It folds to around 40cm which is useful for carrying
Tracy Garner
Expected rain at the weekend ballgame, so this came along.
Expected rain at the weekend ballgame, so this came along. We got sunshine instead and my husband and I used it for shade. PERFECT! We had to sit close (neither of us is tiny), but it kept the glare off and still let the breeze through. Much nicer than sitting in the sun!

The quality is there, you can tell.
It was a Christmas present for someone I never know what to buy for. I happened to be there when she unwrapped it and got a look at it myself. The quality is there, you can tell. I had been looking for an umbrella for me.. but over the holidays I tend to think about everybody else's presents first. This caught my attention because it seemed a sensible size to carry, even though normally I lean towards something bigger once opened. After seeing hers I decided I'd get one myself after all. So that is ordered now.. I can't really give a rain test on my own yet, this is mostly from looking at the one I gave her and seeing how it opens. With all the snow we've had this winter I keep thinking spring will be nothing but wet weather, so there ought to be plenty of opportunity to see what it can do. I'll come back with more on using it then. Looking forward to having mine.
Randall Mosley
The material seems strong and the loop handle feels secure in my hand.
The description sounded suitable, but I wasn't quite sure how solid a compact umbrella would feel in use. It turned out to be pretty much what I'd hoped for. The button opens it promptly and gathers the canopy again without fuss. The material seems strong and the loop handle feels secure in my hand. A little heavier than expected, otherwise I am very satisfied.
Seth Villarreal
A very good first outing for this umbrella.
Mine arrived just as the East Coast was getting a proper soaking! Naturally I had an errand that couldn't wait ... A very good first outing for this umbrella. It is neat enough to put in a bag, then opens to a much more useful size than its folded shape suggests. Kept me well covered through the rain without feeling cumbersome to carry. Putting it away does need a bit of a push after the button has folded the canopy, since the shaft is reset by hand. A small effort, and then it is all ready to open again next time!
Kathleen Lee
This is a good umbrella.
This is a good umbrella. Comfortable to carry and the frame feels substantial. Worth noting the button brings the canopy down, not the whole pole, which you have to push in yourself. My only disappointment is the effort that last bit takes. It all works fine, just not quite the effortless packing away I was expecting. Still a useful purchase.
Ronnie Wilcox
Nice classic look and it feels solid.
An umbrella isn't usually something I get excited about, but this one has won me over. Nice classic look and it feels solid. I tend to go for big golf umbrellas, which aren't so convenient in a crowd. This is a good middle ground, not miniature but not taking over the pavement either. It looks even nicer in person. The button is straightforward to use and the canopy gives me enough room as a bigger person.
Natalie Ewing
The oval handle gives me a secure hold.
Once opened, it gives me my own patch of shelter without having to hunch underneath.I'm tall and spend enough time dodging umbrellas on busy pavements, so being able to carry this comfortably is a plus. The oval handle gives me a secure hold. The cream white canopy looks good and the frame underneath is neatly finished.
Kristy Ferrell
Much simpler to bring along than a full length parasol!
This blue umbrella was meant to go with my frilly outfits, but it's been out with me all summer in the Southwest... enough shade over my shoulders & folds small enough to tuck away afterwards. Much simpler to bring along than a full length parasol! Considering what fancy parasols can cost, I'm very happy with this and tempted to buy a second one!
Oscar Jackson
Overall, quite happy to have bought it.
I expected to pay alot more for something that felt well made, perhaps one of those fancy umbrellas with a rare wood handle. Those prices are hard to justify though. I wasn't convinced this compact one would feel substantial enough, but it is perfectly fine. A decent size opened and easy enough to manage. I would still have chosen a straight grip instead of the oval loop - I'm sure there's some interesting reason for that shape, even if it escapes me. Overall, quite happy to have bought it.
Jeffery Reyes
In wind and rain it feels much more dependable.
I've had a lot of use out of these umbrellas, especially during wet winters at college. A few of mine went missing, and some were actually stolen, but I still went back for the same kind. There is a noticeable difference between this and the really cheap umbrellas I've tried. In wind and rain it feels much more dependable. I don't live somewhere with constant extreme weather, so I'm not claiming miracles, just that it has looked after me on some miserable days. The handle button is another thing I appreciate. Opening it while waiting for the bus is easy, and I can collapse the canopy quickly when the bus arrives. Then it's just a matter of pushing the shaft back down. SO much less awkward, and handy getting into a car as well. Definitely recommend it!
Lynn Santiago
For the money, this is a surprisingly nice umbrella.
For the money, this is a surprisingly nice umbrella. The sleeve tidies it away instead of leaving the folded fabric loose in my bag. Quite convenient. Open it out and there's a solid feel to it, not just something that looks interesting. It's been fine in the breezes I've had. Honestly feels like I got a bargain :)
Sophia Washington
The size wasn't quite what I wanted for my child.
The size wasn't quite what I wanted for my child. Looked smaller than I had in mind and that bothered me when I first opened it. I should of checked the size better before buying. After trying it there was enough cover for the rain, and the umbrella works fine. So that part turned out okay, just not my preferred size.
Carly Cook
My four year old is very taken with this.
My four year old is very taken with this. For the money, the frame and fabric seem decent enough. I'm not expecting it to be indestructible, because anything a small child carries around gets a fair amount of abuse. Whether it lasts a whole year remains to be seen. Still, the way it's put together seems reasonable and I think it was worth what I paid.
Kylie Hubbard
My main reservation is the folded size.
I'm 6'1" and wanted an umbrella with enough cover for winter without carrying a long stick umbrella around. After looking at different styles, I settled on this one for the design and the overall value. The frame feels substantial and I like how securely I can hold the oval handle. I haven't had a reason to test it in anything extreme, which suits me fine. My main reservation is the folded size. It is compact compared with a full-length umbrella, but definitely NOT the tiny little thing I had pictured from the photos. Check that 40cm length before assuming it will disappear into a small bag. It takes a noticeable amount of space in mine, although it is still practical to carry. Open, the coverage is comfortable for me without feeling like I'm under a huge golf umbrella. In summary: A solid, useful umbrella that I like using, but make sure your idea of compact matches its actual folded size.
Clayton Lowery
The button does the opening, (saves me fiddling with it).
There's a decent amount of umbrella above you when this is open, which is what I wanted for rainy days. The button does the opening, (saves me fiddling with it). Best bit for me is the little gate in the oval handle, I can clip it to my bag rather than having to carry it in my hand.
Vanessa Juarez
Feels light to carry but reassuringly solid.
Feels light to carry but reassuringly solid. I've used it in normal rain, not a really heavy storm. My favourite thing is how much water comes off with a few shakes, so it isn't left dripping everywhere. I let it dry out before it goes back in my bag, and the fabric still looks clean after use.
Omar Mora
This one looks smart and has done a lovely job in the rain.
Umbrellas are a bit of a weakness of mine! This one looks smart and has done a lovely job in the rain. The button gathers the canopy in, and the shaft needs a firm push back down afterwards. Fine with me, and it feels reassuringly solid. It fits in my large handbag nicely, but I think a smaller purse would be a squeeze. I mainly bought it for wet weather, though I can see it being handy for shade as well.
Vicki Campbell
) Definitely happy giving this one.
Picked this as a birthday gift for a friend who's 22. She likes swords and oddball presents, but I wanted something she could actually use, and this seemed a fun choice. Has a reassuringly solid feel, and pressing the button brings the canopy up nicely. Enough room over your head, though I wouldn't count on a backpack staying completely covered. The sleeve is handy for putting it away, too. I did have a little practice with it round the house before handing it over (purely quality control, obviously, not because I wanted a go myself!) Definitely happy giving this one.PS The closed loop handle is quite different from the usual straight grip and I found it comfortable. A practical present that still has a bit of character!
Robin Moyer
Not enormous, but you do notice it in a small bag.
I've had two of these, and the only thing I'd change is how much space they take up when folded. Not enormous, but you do notice it in a small bag. That said, the darned thing is a very good umbrella. It covers me properly and feels steady in rainy, breezy weather. So, a little bulky for my liking, but very useful, and worth carrying rather than getting soaked.
Carla Dennis
The handle feels really comfortable in my hand.
The handle feels really comfortable in my hand. There is enough room underneath for two people when you need it. We haven't had any wind to try it in yet, but looking at the frame and holding it gives me a good feeling about how it is made. I also like being able to clip the handle onto the rack in my closet. All in all the quality is very good and I'm pleased with this umbrella.
Harry Sexton
I've used it in wind and it hasn't flipped over.
It gives me good cover from the rain without having to huddle underneath it. I've used it in wind and it hasn't flipped over. Wish it folded a little shorter, it won't fit my backpack so I end up carrying it. Unfortunately I've forgotten two on the train already, but still replace it because I like how well it works!

Where I live there's no shortage of wet, breezy days.
Where I live there's no shortage of wet, breezy days. A plain functional umbrella would have suited me, but the blue is lovely and has drawn a few compliments. The important part is that it's been dependable so far. It feels like something I can keep using for a long time.
Aimee Oneill
Not bad overall, just not quite the same feel as the one I lost.
Had an umbrella back in 2013 for about six months, then left it somewhere and that was that. This looked like it might fill the same gap, though the finish isn't quite as nice as I remember (I'd put this at a 7, the old one at a 9).It still works well and is a fair step above the really cheap umbrellas that become awkward the moment a breeze arrives,The pink is nice enough and it packs down to a manageable size. My main niggle is keeping track of the sleeve when the umbrella is open, very easy to set it down and leave it behind. Not bad overall, just not quite the same feel as the one I lost.
Angie White
This seems a nice buy for the money.
I'm always looking at umbrellas, even when I really don't need another one. This seems a nice buy for the money. Fabric has a substantial feel to it. The simple style suits me and doesn't get the usual complaints from my sons about my taste in umbrellas. That helped sell it to me. There's a sleeve, which may be a challenge to get back on. (I am hopeless at wrapping umbrellas as tightly as they arrive.) The button works smoothly, but it's only been out once so I can't say much about lasting wear. A nice one to take along.
Darlene Stewart
The button makes opening and closing the canopy easy too.
It feels solidly put together, with a nicely finished canopy, and has behaved well in windy weather. The button makes opening and closing the canopy easy too. Give it some space before that first press though, it springs open quickly! I hadn't expected much attention for a plain umbrella, yet several strangers have commented on how smart it looks - men and women both! Between that and how well it works, I'm very satisfied with what I paid.
Ebony Cervantes
happy with what i paid!!!!
needed something for the rain and the price was right when i got this. somebody at work has already called it my fancy umbrella. Well i like it! we've had some really heavy rain recently and you aren't going to stay perfectly dry whatever you carry. But this gives me decent coverage without having a massive thing to cart about. the button is handy , especially when you're trying to get indoors. best bit , and i didn't think much of it at first..is that loop handle. much nicer for me to grip than a plain straight one. happy with what i paid!!!!
