what a good umbrella for the money, nice to find something that seems worth what you paid for it, Good coverage and a button that makes it simple to use, the whole thing seems solid without being a nuisance to carry around,i would recommend it to EVERYONE!! just one very pleased customer here

This one has been great.

Walking around downtown Chicago is how I get to work and back, I don't drive. So an umbrella that actually covers my shoulders and the bag I am carrying matters to me. This one has been great. I was waiting at a crossing and the woman next to me was having to wrestle hers back into shape -- mine did Not turn inside out. That was enough of a comparison for me. It feels strong, and I don't have to carry a long umbrella everywhere. Glad I went with this one.

A very good umbrella for the wet, blustery days on campus.

A very good umbrella for the wet, blustery days on campus. The automatic action makes me feel unreasonably superior to everyone wrestling their umbrellas open by hand. PROS: - Handy button - Feels sturdy - Blue CONS: My imaginary lightsaber routine is less convincing now. Pressing the button for a dramatic extension opens the canopy too, which rather spoils the effect. Yes, this is the entirely serious reason I'm withholding a star. Overall, a useful purchase when the weather forecast seems to be making things up. Excellent umbrella, slightly disappointing equipment for pretend space battles.

Such a BRILLIANT idea for portable shade.

Such a BRILLIANT idea for portable shade. I chose it as a Christmas present for my very fair skinned mother. The beige looks lovely, and it packs into a larger purse or suitcase with a sleeve to keep it tidy. She hasn't taken it out yet, but she's looking forward to having shade handy instead of searching for somewhere to get out of the sun.

A proper umbrella at last!

A proper umbrella at last! It looks nice, and feels much more substantial than the cheep ones I've wasted money on. There's enough cover for me, or for my two small children standing together. I've had so many flimsy umbrellas that weren't worth bringing out in the rain. This feels like something I can keep using instead of buying another after a couple of showers. Well worth choosing a decent one.

)Once opened the shape is good and it feels substantial.

The pink is attractive, although not quite as rich looking as I thought from the pictures - in daylight it looks fairly flat. (Still a nice colour, just not the effect I had imagined.)Once opened the shape is good and it feels substantial. Getting through the packaging was the bigger nuisance; there were several layers of plastic and the layers were taped together. Pulling at it wasn't getting me anywhere, so I had to cut carefully rather than risk catching the canopy. A lot of unwrapping for one umbrella, but I do like it now it's out!

Cassie Andersen

Has a solid feel, but I don't find it particularly heavy.

Received it today and have only checked it indoors so far, not taken it into the weather. Opened it out and looked everything over. The fabric is tidy and the frame all sits as it should. Black is just as pictured. Has a solid feel, but I don't find it particularly heavy. More substantial than my smallest umbrella, certainly. Update: A few wet days in South Florida now and it has kept me dry without any fuss. Still comfortable enough to carry. My one change would be a little more length in the handle. With my hand round the loop there isn't much spare grip, and a bit extra would make it nicer to hold.

Smart looking umbrella, a normal useful size.

Smart looking umbrella, a normal useful size. The button sends it up and brings the canopy in, with quite a loud snap. You then push the telescoping shaft down yourself to finish closing. Slightly weightier than other folding ones I've used. Looks neatly made and I haven't noticed any odd smell. Pleased with it overall.

Vincent Mathews

Such a cute umbrella - it looks lovely even folded.

Such a cute umbrella - it looks lovely even folded. Have already had a few compliments. The second time I put it away I struggled getting it into the sleeve. Just couldn't get it neat. You have to take a moment to straighten the folds instead of bundling everything up like I usually do. Once I worked that out it slid in fine. Worth the extra little fiddle for something I like carrying this much! Has kept me dry in proper rain. Haven't had much wind to try it in yet. The push button is really handy too.

Jennifer Decker

It looks smart and seems sturdy.

My daughter received this for Christmas and was delighted. The green is lovely, noticeable without being too bright. She was especially happy that a button opens it and also brings the canopy in. It looks smart and seems sturdy. A little bigger folded than she expected, but she has been pleased with it overall.

I'm hardly an expert on umbrellas.

I'm hardly an expert on umbrellas. Where I live I don't need one all that often, so I tend to notice whether I'm staying dry rather than the finer points of the design. I wanted something for traveling over winter break, and this feels solid enough for that. The construction seems good, and the handle is nicer to hang onto than I expected. My four stars are partly down to expectations, which probably isn't entirely fair to the umbrella. The beige is warmer looking in person than I had pictured from the listing. Nothing wrong with the colour itself, just not quite the look I had in mind. It's a small disappointment rather than a reason to stop using it. The other thing worth pointing out is the size when it's folded. It is compact compared with a full-length umbrella, but don't read that as tiny enough to disappear in any little bag. Folded up it's about 40cm, and that was bigger than I'd mentally allowed for. Neither point is serious enough for me to bother returning it. It works well as an umbrella and I'll use it, but between the shade and the folded size I can't quite say it was exactly what I expected.

SO GLAD I FOUND THIS UMBRELLA.

SO GLAD I FOUND THIS UMBRELLA.HAD A SIMILAR ONE BEFORE AND LIKED IT SO MUCH I WANTED THE SAME KIND AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN OUT WITH ME SEVERAL TIMES NOW AND KEPT THE RAIN OFF REALLY WELL. A BIT OF WIND HASN'T SENT IT TURNING INSIDE OUT EITHER. IT FEELS SECURE TO HOLD AND I'M JUST DELIGHTED WITH IT. EXACTLY WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR.

It's the real soaking downpours that made me want a better umbrella.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, a little rain is practically part of the day. It's the real soaking downpours that made me want a better umbrella. The frame feels substantial rather than flimsy, and I'm comfortable taking it out when the sky opens up. The button makes opening it simple, and folding the canopy is quick too. It gives me enough cover without feeling like I'm lugging a great big pole around. So far it has kept me dry and given me the feeling I bought something worth keeping.

Cathy Spencer

Definitely happy with the purchase.

10/10 from me, the coverage surprised me when I first opened it! A good amount of room for one person, and two can tuck under for a short dash if they stay close. Time will tell how it wears, but it feels like money well spent. Pressing the button collapses the canopy, then I compress the telescoping shaft manually. Takes a firm push, which seems normal to me. Definitely happy with the purchase.

Christy Joseph

It has attracted a few nice comments too.

There are inventions that make me wonder why we put up with the old arrangement for so long. Wheels on luggage, for instance. We knew about wheels for quite a while before someone spared our arms, didn't we? An umbrella that lets me open it and gather the canopy with the same button belongs on that list for me.It isn't going to change civilization, obviously. But standing in rain and wrestling with a wet canopy always seemed like unnecessary work, and this makes that part MUCH easier. The telescoping stem still has to be pressed back in by hand; that's the last step, not something the button does. The frame feels substantial for a folding umbrella and the loop handle is a practical shape. I've ended up buying three because I manage to leave umbrellas behind, not because any of them wore out. Each one has opened briskly and felt secure once up, which is encouraging. It has attracted a few nice comments too.I am still waiting for an umbrella that remembers where I left it and follows me home. Until somebody invents that, I am content with this one.

Jose Ortega

All in all, a good value item for my purposes.

For use as a prop this suits me well, and I didn't need anything terribly elaborate. The plain canopy gives me the simple look I was after. I like the neat shape when it's open. The loop handle is a little more modern looking than I wanted, but that is just a matter of taste. I plan to arrange it so the handle isn't so noticeable rather than try to alter the umbrella itself. All in all, a good value item for my purposes.

Thomas Prince

After a fair bit of use I think the quality is excellent.

Took it outside in some nasty rain and the frame coped fine, though the water was blowing in sideways and my legs still ended up wet haha. It has been out with me plenty of times now, not just that once. After a fair bit of use I think the quality is excellent.

Jenna Rollins

For me it's been a genuinely useful purchase.

A few weeks of using this has made sitting or walking outside in summer much more pleasant for me. Direct sun bothers me quickly and I burn easily, so having shade I can take along is a big help. I can linger outside instead of immediately hunting for a shady place to stand. Under the canopy feels noticeably more comfortable. It has also coped well with the breezes I've had so far. The umbrella feels sturdy without being cumbersome, and I like the way it looks. For me it's been a genuinely useful purchase.

So I'd say its doing pretty well !

Going to school downtown in Atlanta, the weather can be all over the place. The wind around those buildings is no joke and rainy days seem to leave the bins full of flimsy umbrellas. This one has stayed in shape for me so far , no turning inside out yet. So I'd say its doing pretty well !

Fred Parsons

We get plenty of rain here, so an umbrella made sense.

For my cousin's birthday I wanted something she'd actually use rather than leave on a shelf. We get plenty of rain here, so an umbrella made sense. She was happy with it and it feels nicely made. The size gives her good coverage without being awkward to carry around.

Faith Reid

Solid umbrella, flexible ribs and not too much wieght to carry.

Solid umbrella, flexible ribs and not too much wieght to carry. Works nicely.I live in Augusta, Georgia ,and sometimes all this rain feels like it belongs in a tropical forest instead. At least I get to stay dry under this one rather than feeling like I'm part of the weather.

Ronald Miles

the gray is really nice and it feels more solid than i had imagined.

almost too pretty to get wet, i keep admiring it! the gray is really nice and it feels more solid than i had imagined. i was thinking it might need some extra support but honestly it seems fine as it is. maybe a nice present for a little girl who enjoys pretty things. the sleeve takes me a moment to get on neatly, still i'm delighted with the umbrella.

Karla Guerra

The pink is lovely and it doesn't take up much room packed away.

Needed something sturdy that would still pack away for a vacation in Egypt. This seemed the sensible choice for size and price. The pink is lovely and it doesn't take up much room packed away.Once open there is a good amount of shade, which was the whole idea. The fabric (not sure of the proper name for it) feels nice, with black underneath. I initially thought the button would put the entire thing away. It pulls the top shut, then I press the handle in to shorten it. Once I understood that, no trouble at all. Glad I picked this one.

Courtney Hudson

Coverage is really the thing to consider.

I bought mine elsewhere, but wanted to add my experience here. Mine is green and has worked well. Press the button and it opens straight away; the frame has handled the breezes I've used it in without flipping. Coverage is really the thing to consider. It's comfortable for one person in ordinary rain, which is mostly what I need walking around the city. If you're outside for ages with rain blowing sideways, don't expect a compact umbrella to keep every bit of you dry. For everyday use, though, it's a good balance of cover and something I can actually carry.

Spencer Quinn

Feels solid in the hand and looks good too.

I've been through enough umbrella's that I stopped counting a while ago. Wanted one that would stand up to some wind instead of making me nervous every time it rained. Have taken this one out on a few blustery days now and it has handled them well. Feels solid in the hand and looks good too. People have even asked where I found it.For anyone after a decent Umbrella this is worth a look. I am much happier going out in wet weather with it. Would certainly recommend.Thank you

Mine arrived today and I have been looking it over.

Mine arrived today and I have been looking it over. The green is pleasant and the umbrella looks quite neat when it is opened out. One reason I chose this one was the push button operation rather than having to open everything manually. It does open with a press, and another press brings the canopy together. You still have to shorten the shaft yourself afterwards, which is not a difficulty, just worth knowing what the button actually does. The sleeve is tidy too and I like having something to put it in rather than leaving it loose. My disappointment, after looking at it more carefully, is mostly with the colour. I had expected a deeper green from the pictures and this looks considerably paler to my eyes. It isn't an ugly colour. But the appearance was a large part of why I picked this particular umbrella, so saying it is still green doesn't quite answer it for me. Looking across the whole canopy in daylight, it has a rather flat look where I was expecting something richer. Other people might prefer that. I don't particularly, and it takes away some of the pleasure of getting something I had spent time choosing. Now I wonder whether I should have worried less about the appearance and simply chosen on practicality. I cannot give an opinion about keeping dry yet because it only arrived today and there has been no rain to try it in. Opening it indoors is not the same as using it outside. Edit - Had another look in different light. Still not the depth of green I thought I was ordering, although it does look nicer away from the window. I am leaving it ready for the next wet day rather than deciding everything from an indoor inspection. Edit - I received a message asking whether I was satisfied and replied explaining the above. I said that my review was based on first impressions and could change once I had used it. A week has passed without an answer. I have also seen the price drop since buying mine, which hasn't helped my feelings about the purchase. An acknowledgement would have been appreciated, even if the colour is simply how it is meant to be. There are things I like here, especially the opening action, but between the appearance and the lack of reply, three stars is where I am leaving it for now.

I was really sorry to lose the umbrella I'd had for several years.

I was really sorry to lose the umbrella I'd had for several years. The generous coverage and push-button opening and closing were why I liked it, so I started looking for the same thing again. Eventually I took a chance on this Haven, not knowing whether I'd get on with it. Well, maybe losing the old one wasn't such a disaster! Things seem to have improved since I last bought an umbrella. This folds into a much shorter package (a little thicker around, but now it actually goes inside my backpack, instead of the handle sticking out. It feels lighter to carry, although the frame looks more solid to me. There's still just as much room underneath when it's open. The button opening and canopy closing work smoothly. Oh, and the oval loop handle - I hadn't expected that to make much difference, but it's very comfortable compared with the round handle I was used to. I really didn't think I'd find this sort of quality for what I paid. Easily one of my more satisfying purchases lately.

Alex Wheeler

Pleased I picked it...

Wanted an umbrella in our school colour and the pink is just what I had in mind!! Feels sturdy, the grip is comfortable & there's a decent amount of room underneath without it being awkward to hold!! Best part is how small it packs down afterwards, much easier to bring along than I expected!! Pleased I picked it...although (not really complaining) we've only had one rainy soccer game since it arrived, so it hasn't had many chances to come out yet!

Makayla Young

Otherwise I'm pleased with it.

I live in Chicago and have been through more umbrellas than I'd like, at least ten just last year. This one seems much better at dealing with the wind so far. Only niggle is the length once folded, still a little awkward for me to carry around when it's dry even though it isn't a full length umbrella. Otherwise I'm pleased with it.

Karl Steele

I've been comfortable using it in lighter rain.

I wasn't sure how substantial this would be, as I wanted a rain umbrella rather than something just for looks. It feels firmer in the hand than I expected, and the oval handle and beige colour are both attractive. I've been comfortable using it in lighter rain. I haven't trusted it to a really heavy downpour yet, but for everyday showers I'm pleased with it.

Stephen Greer

A good everyday umbrella.

On busy New York City sidewalks I don't want an umbrella that crowds everyone out, but I still want to stay dry. This one gives me a sensible amount of cover without being awkward to carry. The frame feels sturdy and it isn't a burden in my bag. You do still need to angle it into the wind, of course. A good everyday umbrella.

Decided it made more sense to own one.

For my daughter in law's bridal shower I checked the umbrella rentals, but everything looked tired and cost more than I expected. Decided it made more sense to own one. This looked lovely sitting above the presents, and afterwards she had a keepsake of her special day instead of something to take back!

Joel Duncan

At least this one should be easier to spot.

Sent my brother-in-law this for Christmas, although I wasn't there when he unwrapped it - apparently the box had him guessing (ha). He says it's well made and useful, which is what I hoped. I picked cream white to make it easier to recognise if somebody decides they've found "their" umbrella... (his last one was taken while I had it---such an ordinary looking thing that I couldn't tell where it had gone). At least this one should be easier to spot.

Arrived when expected and was packed up nicely.

Arrived when expected and was packed up nicely. The sleve was the first thing that caught my attention, much nicer than I thought it would be. I went out on the porch and opened the umbrella to have a proper look at it. The shaft and ribs seem solid and the handle has a good feel to it. Yesterday we had errands to do in the rain so it finally got a proper try out. There was room for the two of us walking close together, without feeling like I was carrying something enormous. It folded away nicely afterwards as well. If the wind picks up you would want a firm grip, same as with any umbrella. I am completely satisified with it and would say it is worth buying. I've looked at ones costing much more that didn't seem any nicer. For what I paid this seems a very good buy.

Ronnie Mccall

The Cream White is lovely.

I've had this umbrella for roughly three years, and it has earned its place by the door for both wet days and sunny ones. My skin reacts badly to a lot of sunscreens, and I'm quite sensitive to sunshine, so having shade with me matters. The Cream White is lovely. It's a sensible in-between size, feels solid, and the oval loop handle is handy when I'm carrying everything over to the soccer field. What I appreciate most is simply being able to get out of the direct sun! Sitting beneath it is noticeably more comfortable than sitting uncovered. Other parents have borrowed it for a moment along the sidelines and then wanted to know where mine came from. (It isn't just me who finds the shade a relief.) Mine is still in good shape. I'd need something larger if I wanted my feet and legs shaded without moving around, but for the coverage this size offers, I'm very happy with it. I would certainly recommend it for everyday rain as well as those sunny afternoons. It costs more than the very cheapest umbrella, but the usefulness and solid feel make it worthwhile to me. I'm not somebody who routinely leaves product reviews. (Usually I only bother writing about books, so an umbrella getting this much attention from me says something.) And yes, summers here can get into the 90s, even though we aren't in the South. We've had our share of thunderstorms too; this hasn't just been sitting unused in a cupboard!

Morgan Anderson

Easy enough to carry along, too.

I wanted something to hold over me at ball games and when we're sitting outside camping. With fair skin and a history of skin cancer I try not to sit in direct sunshine. This gives me a comfortable patch of shade and it feels cooler underneath. Easy enough to carry along, too. The whole thing feels well made.

Philip Graves

Another press and SNAP!

Small enough to live in my laptop bag, still enough umbrella over me when it rains.I keep it tucked there for the just in case days.Using it is the best bit, slip off the sleeve, undo the strap, hit the button and WHOOSH! it's up and open.About to go indoors? Another press and SNAP! the canopy folds itself in, so you're not wrestling the whole thing through the doorway. Then give it a shake and push the shaft down by hand, all ready for its next encounter with the weather.

Parker Leblanc

Such a lovely blue, and easy enough to carry to the wedding.

Such a lovely blue, and easy enough to carry to the wedding. It gave some welcome shade and fitted in with the day's colours beautifully. A touch bulkier folded than I'd imagined, but still a nice choice. I passed it to the bride afterwards as a little keepsake of the day.

Alice Quinn

Nothing frilly needed, it just looks nice.

Want to look a little feminine when the weather isn't cooperating? This umbrella is such a pretty, simple thing to carry. Nothing frilly needed, it just looks nice. Mine has had several compliments and a few, "Oh, where did you find that?" comments. Makes splashing past the puddles feel a bit less dreary. And yes, at 66 I still enjoy something that makes me feel pretty.

Brady Buck

This one has kept me dry and feels reassuring in the hand.

OK, I've been through five umbrellas and wanted something that felt more substantial for a change. This one has kept me dry and feels reassuring in the hand. It folds down, but don't think that means it feels flimsy when opened. For everyday wet weather I would happily recommend it, the frame seems nicely put together and it hasn't given me trouble in a breeze. The black is a proper deep black, looks very smart..

Brendan Petty

I took this on my March trip to NYC and was really impressed!

I took this on my March trip to NYC and was really impressed! We had a storm with plenty of gusts, and I could see other umbrellas flipping while this one kept its shape. The pleasant surprise was carrying it afterwards. The loop handle is comfortable to hold and I didn't have to clutch the folded fabric. Once dry, it slipped back into its sleeve without much bother. Those little details made getting around with it so much easier!

Steven Burke

There is one tucked away in the car as well.

I ordered another of these after losing my previous umbrella while travelling. It folds down neatly and is light enough to leave in my backpack without it being a bother. There is one tucked away in the car as well. Doesn't use much storage space, and I like having it close by when the rain catches me out.

Francisco Bridges

Handy for a shower or a little shade.

Our 3 year old asked for a blue umbrella for Christmas and was so excited with this! The push button opening is a big hit, though I help with putting it away. Her 5 year old sister wanted one too and is just as happy. Handy for a shower or a little shade. Nice quality for the money. Very happy with them!

Briana Watson

Keeps me dry, and opens quickly when I get outside.

This stays at the office for those days when the rain starts before my lunchtime walk to the gym/pool. Keeps me dry, and opens quickly when I get outside. (I'd had enough of carrying an oversized umbrella that wasn't much use to me.)This folds down neatly, so it can go in my bag as well.

Took the gray one to Alaska knowing rain was likely, and it did a very good job keeping me dry. It wasn't a nuisance to carry around either and there was enough coverage for me. The button opens it and brings the canopy down, but you still have to push the shaft in yourself-- that extra step is my reason for four stars. I liked the gray, even if it didn't help much with spotting me in a crowd!

Jay Myers

An EXCELLENT everyday umbrella.

The green is quieter than the wild patterns on some umbrellas, but it certainly isn't dull. Open, this one measures about 105cm across. (Room for me without feeling as though I am carrying a patio umbrella.)The canopy has thirty flexible ribs underneath, so there is quite a lot of support rather than a few spindly bits holding everything up. I wouldn't volunteer it for a gale, but it feels reassuringly substantial. The handle is an oval loop, completely enclosed, and gives my hand something decent to hold. A press of the button sends the canopy up. It also folds the canopy when pressed again, although shortening the telescoping shaft is something you do by hand. The automatic part is the canopy, not every last inch of the umbrella. The shaft feels sturdy, as does the frame. It has that exaggerated cartoon-umbrella solidity about it, only in a size I can actually put away. ;-) Edit: I came back because I had left out the cover. There is a carry sleeve included, and it fits neatly over the folded umbrella. Nothing elaborate, just a snug cover that keeps the folded fabric together when put away. A useful little detail that deserved a mention rather than being forgotten altogether. I expect to get plenty of use from this one. An EXCELLENT everyday umbrella.

Loved having this along on our summer trip to Florida.

Loved having this along on our summer trip to Florida. My girlfriend and I were stuck in an outdoor queue, getting hotter and less cheerful by the minute. Pulled it from my bag and having our own patch of shade made such a difference. Much nicer waiting after that! Folded up it doesn't look like much, but opened out it's a surprisingly substantial umbrella and looks lovely too. Very glad I packed it.

Geoffrey Downs

Such a LOVELY green.

Such a LOVELY green. This was my mother's Christmas present and she's really taken with it. I'm considering another for me, despite already having an umbrella that does the job. The colour looks even nicer up close than it did on screen. I wasn't sure about spending this much without seeing it first, but I'm glad I did. Feels solid as well as looking pretty. Would certainly recommend it.

Jaclyn Elliott

Feels like a properly made umbrella, not something flimsy.

Feels like a properly made umbrella, not something flimsy. The roughly 105cm canopy covers me comfortably, although I would want more room if sharing it with someone. The frame feels reassuringly firm too.Later note: opening it with that button is a real pleasure, much handier than I thought it would be.

Loretta Mcintosh

I've used this a couple of times now and it's doing well.

My main requirements were something portable and something that wouldn't feel disposable after one wet outing. I've used this a couple of times now and it's doing well. The push button opening is handy, and another press draws the canopy shut, with the shaft pushed in by hand afterwards. It isn't one of those enormous umbrellas you can share around, it's really a personal size. For carrying about and keeping myself dry, I think it's a very practical choice.
