I liked the idea of a compact umbrella, but opening this one my first thought was that's-not-as-small-as-I-imagined. That isn't necessarily a bad thing because there is decent space underneath it, I just had something really tiny in mind when I ordered. Folded up it still takes more room in my bag than I expected, so I wouldn't call it something you forget you're carrying. I mainly wanted it because it looked cute and the pink does look cheerful. It's a stronger pink than I pictured on my screen, where I was expecting a softer shade, but I can live with that. The build seems good (I've only taken it out in light rain so far) and the opening button is convenient. Overall I'm satisfied, just wish I'd checked the folded size rather than guessing from the photo. Worth putting a tape measure against your bag first if you're like me :)

I'd definetely suggest giving this umbrella a try!

After going through three umbrellas last year I wanted one that felt more dependable. Wind had been the nuisance with the others, so the sturdier feel of this one was welcome. It's handled my wet, windy walks well and still looks as it should. I'd definetely suggest giving this umbrella a try!

I'm so pleased with my new umbrella!

I'm so pleased with my new umbrella! I had read comments about the fabric feeling thin and that did make me hesitate a bit. When I unpacked it I went straight to having a feel of the canopy. To me it seems perfectly normal for an umbrella, not flimsy the way I had imagined. The cream white looks really nice too. I can't say how many years it will last, but it gives me a good impression so far. Now I'm just waiting for a rainy day to actually take it outside! If I enjoy using it as much as I like looking at it, I can see myself getting another colour as well.

Really enjoy using this umbrella, it looks cute without being fussy.

Really enjoy using this umbrella, it looks cute without being fussy. I hold it a little higher so I can see ahead rather than peering from under the edge. Handy when I'm showing houses in the rain and talking with clients outside. Just wish it folded a touch smaller.

I am soo happy I found this one..

After moving to Tampa I realised I wanted an umbrella for sun as well as rain. I am soo happy I found this one..handle sits comfortable in my hand and it isn't a pain to carry..the canopy keeps the rain off me and gives my delicate skin some shade when the sun is fierce..the button opening is a big plus too, this umbrella ROCKS for me..

Feels SOLID and gives me decent cover.

I keep mine in the car for sudden downpours, and my fiance, my little boy and I all take turns using it. Feels SOLID and gives me decent cover. Worth buying if you want something manageable rather than a huge umbrella that occupies half the back seat. The car already has enough passengers.

It doesn't weigh my purse down and is narrow enough to slip in alongside everything else. I've used it for over a year and the fabric and frame are still in good shape. I originally wanted some shade for the tropical weather where I live, but it has proved just as useful when the rain comes.

A thank you for the neighbor who was there when I needed help.

A thank you for the neighbor who was there when I needed help. Pink is her favorite and sudden showers are a regular thing here. The color is GORGEOUS! It looks smart without being fussy. She is delighted with it, especially the button that folds the canopy down. Feels nicer than the price suggests. I'd happily choose it as a gift again!

Darrell Rose

It has kept me dry in rain too, not just shaded from the sun.

Finding something I liked for shade on hot summer days took me nearly a year, so I'm delighted with this one! The frame feels sturdy, and the handle is comfortable to hang onto. I have chronic vertigo and appreciate having a secure grip on what I'm carrying. The design looks even nicer in person, and people have asked about it while I've been out. It's one of those purchases that has actually been as useful as I hoped. If I ever need to replace it, I'd choose the same again at this price. It has kept me dry in rain too, not just shaded from the sun.

Never thought I'd get excited over an umbrella, but I LOVE THIS ONE!

Never thought I'd get excited over an umbrella, but I LOVE THIS ONE! It feels good from the moment you pick it up--just a nicely finished, solid thing. Ended up buying two, with the second staying in the car. I've used it in several heavy showers now and it's done its job beautifully.

Samantha Goodman

it works well in the rain.

After using mine, I picked up another as a gift for a friend. Why settle for something scruffy when an umbrella can look this smart? It isn't just about appearance either; it works well in the rain. A press of the button opens it, and another closes the canopy. Every time I take it out I'm pleased I went for it.

Coverage is generous for a folding umbrella

Full marks from me for matching what was described. I've carried it on breezy walks and the frame has coped nicely, with some give in the ribs rather than a rigid feeling. Coverage is generous for a folding umbrella; two of us can tuck in together, although it's roomiest for one. Better than I had expected and a good choice for a couple who don't mind walking close when it rains.

Deborah Haney

He has had a great deal of enjoyment out of it.

This was a gift for a three and a half year old who is very interested in umbrellas. He spent ages with it indoors the day he got it, pretending it was raining and inviting selected grown ups to shelter with him. I worked the button and helped put it away, as this is a proper umbrella rather than a toy. It feels well made and stood up nicely to all that attention. He has had a great deal of enjoyment out of it.Recommended.

An umbrella that actually feels substantial without being one of the long ones. I've used it in windy rain in Chicago and it has done well for me. Opened up, there's a useful amount of cover, not the tiny canopy I half expected from a folding umbrella. It is longer and a little heavier folded than some I've owned, so don't expect to tuck it into a small handbag. Mine goes in the backpack along with everything else I carry, but my backpack is a fairly generous size. After trying quite a few umbrellas over the years, this feels like a sensible choice. I'm satisfied with it so far and expect to keep using it for a good while.

Daryl Wells

The flexible frame has coped well with the windy rain we've had.

I ordered a second one for my girlfriend after having one for my self. The flexible frame has coped well with the windy rain we've had.I'm particularly fussy about the shaft and where it meets the canopy, since I've had trouble with that area on an older umbrella. This one feels solid through the middle and doesn't feel strained just from holding it into a breeze. So far I've been happy with the construction, and carrying it isn't a nuisance either.

Mike Daugherty

For the price I think the quality is great.

Anyone spending hours at baseball games will understand why I keep this handy. Another baseball mom showed me hers and I ended up getting a second one after trying it. Now there is one in my car and one in my husband's truck, so we aren't forever remembering it after we've left. It has been useful for showers as well as sunny afternoons, and feels sturdy in the ordinary breezes we get. We live in Hawaii, so both kinds of weather turn up often enough! The shade is the main reason I wanted it, and sitting under it is much more comfortable than sitting in the direct sun. It folds down to a manageable size rather than taking over the car. For the price I think the quality is great. Several other baseball families have asked about it and I've happily recommended it!

For the office I generally prefer the smallest umbrella I can carry.

For the office I generally prefer the smallest umbrella I can carry. This one is compact compared with a full-length golf umbrella, but it isn't tiny when folded. There is a useful amount of room underneath it, so the extra bulk makes sense on wetter days. For just a light shower I would still be inclined to take a smaller one. It depends how much bag space you have.

Rose Johnston

She enjoys having her own umbrella and I think it was a good choice!

The cream white is really lovely and my six year old is thrilled with it!!!It's a nice size(not enormous, not tiny) and feels well put together. I do the shortening after it's folded, but the button makes putting it up very simple. She enjoys having her own umbrella and I think it was a good choice!

Paul Riddle

There's a good amount of shelter under this umbrella.

There's a good amount of shelter under this umbrella. I can keep a grandchild close beside me, although I wouldn't pick it for weaving through a crowded pavement. Even an ordinary umbrella can knock against others there. With room around us, it is a pleasure to use.

Debra Blair

We appreciate having some shade overhead.

Walking home from school is our afternoon routine since we don't get a bus in our neighborhood. I'd rather walk than spend 45 minutes in the pickup line. These have made the sunny part of that walk much nicer. My 6yr old feels very fancy carrying her own umbrella, which makes getting home a bit more fun. We appreciate having some shade overhead. There hasn't been rain here lately because of the drought, so I can only speak for using them in sunshine.

Angie Ho

The little sleeve for storing it is a nice extra.

Haven't opened it up yet because it's going to be a gift and I'd rather leave it as it came. The little sleeve for storing it is a nice extra. Just holding it, it has a sturdy feel and looks carefully put together. Seems a step up from the folding umbrella's I usually see in the local shops.

Roberta Ruiz

Solidly made umbrella, and it feels very sturdy.

Solidly made umbrella, and it feels very sturdy. I've used it on breezy days without anything folding back or giving me trouble. Having gone through enough cheap umbrellas that gave up in a gust, I would certainly recommend paying for something better made. My four stars rather than five are really about the amount of room underneath. I thought two people would fit comfortably, but in practice someone ends up with a wet shoulder. For me on my own the coverage is very good and I have no complaints about the way it works. If sharing is the main reason you are buying, I would look for a larger umbrella instead of expecting a compact to manage that.

Judy Kirby

A decent, sturdy umbrella and I think the price is fair.

A decent, sturdy umbrella and I think the price is fair. There are just a couple of little things I noticed. As a woman who puts everything in her purse, I do notice the weight of this compared with my previous one. It's not terribly heavy, just enough to know it's in there. The other thing is the thickness when folded. You know when it's stopped raining and you carry the closed umbrella in your hand for a bit...this one feels rather chunky for doing that. The oval handle helps, but I'd still prefer a slimmer bundle. Neither point would put me off using it, and it works well as an umbrella. Just mentioning them for anyone wanting something really small.

Darius Gibbs

Fortunately we never had to use it.

We spotted an umbrella like this at a wedding earlier in the year and thought it would be sensible rain insurance for our future daughter-in-law. Fortunately we never had to use it. It looks nice enough for a wedding, and the handle feels firm rather than flimsy. Someone at the wedding had decorated theirs with a little newlywed message, which made us smile. We're keeping ours for other occasions now. It's a useful size for staying covered without carrying a great long umbrella around.

Colin Buck

It has handled blustery weather without trouble too.

It does the job in rain, isn't much weight in my work bag, and the button makes getting it open nice and easy. It has handled blustery weather without trouble too. Folded, it fits the bag I use for work, though not the small outer pocket. I generally leave it packed, even when the forecast doesn't look wet.

Wyatt Cortez

Love this umbrella!

Love this umbrella! There's a good amount of cover for a folding one, and my boyfriend and I can squeeze underneath together. (Keeping the books dry is the main thing!) It's felt steady in the breezy weather around campus, and the button has been straightforward to use. I can carry it along to work without much trouble. Not weightless, but a sensible compromise between coverage and carrying it.

Ernest Peck

I like this umbrella a lot and it packs away to a manageable size.

I like this umbrella a lot and it packs away to a manageable size. One thing stops me giving it five stars, the sleeve is a little snug for my liking. Not a major problem, just takes some patience putting it away. The cream white outside looks pleasantly understated, with black underneath rather than anything flashy. Nice to carry without feeling like I'm making a statement.

Devin Manning

It's not room to spread out, but it works for us!

Can't explain how much nicer this has made sharing an umbrella with my child. We used to shuffle along bumping each other's feet and somehow I'd be the one left in the rain. With this one, keeping them tucked in close has given us both decent cover in a proper downpour. It's not room to spread out, but it works for us! There is a little weight to it, worth knowing, and the pink top looks cheerful even though it's plain black underneath.

Perry Raymond

It feels quite solid in his hand as well.

Since we moved, my husband has about three quarters of a mile to walk to the subway, and rain is a regular part of that. I wanted an umbrella he could take back and forth without carrying a long one all day. We haven't tried it in rain yet, but opening it indoors gave us a good idea of the coverage. He's tall and it seems a sensible size for him, though I wouldn't expect his shoes to stay completely dry in blowing rain. It feels quite solid in his hand as well. His one reservation is that it feels a bit bulky to carry folded for the whole walk. It is compact compared with a full length umbrella, just not tiny. Overall it feels well put together and should suit that walk nicely!

Alyssa Wagner

These were SUCH good value I nearly went back for more.

These were SUCH good value I nearly went back for more. Bought 3 umbrellas and they made great presents. We take them out for rainy days and also use them for shade while watching the soccer games!! Nice and sturdy without being enormous, and handy to carry back home afterwards. cant complain at that price

Edgar Frazier

it's an umbrella with a clip handle.

it's an umbrella with a clip handle. so, already a small victory for someone who loses things. the umbrella itself feels properly made too. i'd like to claim it parts the subway crowds for me, but apparently everyone still wants to stand in the doorway. no, honestly, i'm happy with it. it folds away neatly, and the sleeve makes it less of a loose object rattling around in my bag. no sword skills required.

Antonio Jones

It has coped well with the weather I've taken it into.

I've been using mine for two years now and it has been a dependable umbrella. I hesitated over the price at first, mostly because I didn't want to pay for another one that would fold the wrong way at the first gust. It has coped well with the weather I've taken it into. A little more coverage would be nice, but otherwise I have no complaints.

Peggy Thompson

Happy with how it works.

It looks a little warmer in person than the white in the photos. More cream white than a bright white, but it is very pretty anyway. I use mine for shade when the sun is out. My skin is very fair and I don't enjoy that greasy sunblock feeling, so I like having some shade over me as well. Useful that it can go in my bag and come out whenever I want it. Happy with how it works.

After all the trouble I've had with previous umbrellas in windy…

After all the trouble I've had with previous umbrellas in windy weather, I wanted something that would get me to school without spending the rest of the day wet, and this one has been such a relief! You can still feel a gust tugging at it and need to keep a good hold, but it's coped far better than my old ones and kept me dry!

Kellie Stone

When it arrived I was very pleased with how nicely it was made.

I initially chose this umbrella for my Halloween costume, and I did hesitate over paying this much for something I might only use for one evening. Eventually I decided I'd rather have a proper umbrella than a flimsy prop, so I went ahead. When it arrived I was very pleased with how nicely it was made. It isn't a replica costume piece, but with the rest of the outfit on it gave me the look I wanted. Quite a few people commented on it and said the umbrella finished things off. Since Halloween I've kept it in the stand with our other umbrellas and it looks perfectly at home there. The simple loop handle feels solid and the whole thing is more practical than something bought only for dressing up. I can use it when it rains instead of putting it in a box for another year. I'd recommend it for that mixture of costume use and everyday use.

Brooke Contreras

A sturdy, practical purchase that I'm happy to have made again.

I've purchased one before and came back for another to keep in my backpack. I have been hard on umbrellas over the years, especially with children using them as well. Between wet weather, breezy days and being shoved into bags, they get plenty of use. These have felt much more substantial than the flimsy ones I used before. The overall design is attractive without being fussy, and it feels like something made to be used regularly. At roughly 40cm folded it fits in my backpack, but it is not a tiny purse umbrella. That distinction is worth keeping in mind if you want something for a small bag. The loop handle is handy for carrying it when I don't want to put it away wet. A sturdy, practical purchase that I'm happy to have made again.

Monique Mcgee

It's soooo nice in the gray.

At some point I must have sent a friend a picture of this umbrella and gone on about wanting one. This is according to the friend, because my memory of that message is completely blank. They remembered, though, and unwrapping it on my birthday was a lovely surprise. So apparently sending people pictures of things does occasionally pay off. It's soooo nice in the gray. Not an over-the-top design, just something about the shape and that oval loop handle that makes it look a bit different. I've had comments already, including from a couple of women at work. Opened up, there's comfortable room for me and my bag (I wouldn't expect to share without somebody getting a wet shoulder). I can hold it high enough to see ahead without feeling as though I'm losing all the cover. My biggest irritation with umbrellas is carrying one around, putting it up, and STILL arriving with wet hair and soaked sleeves. This one has done a good job of covering my head and arms in ordinary rain, instead of making the whole exercise seem pointless. It also has that substantial feel when you're holding it - not something that feels ready to crumple at the first gust. The button is handy when I'm juggling my bag, too. If I really have to find a downside, it isn't the tiniest or lightest thing to keep in a handbag. It folds down, so I'm not stuck carrying a long umbrella all day, but you do know it's in there. Honestly, I prefer that trade-off to something that feels flimsy just for the sake of being smaller. A very successful birthday present. I enjoy using it, which is a slightly ridiculous thing to say about an umbrella, but there we are. Looking nice AND keeping my hair dry is enough for me.

Alec Hoover

I'll probably add more once I've used it through that.

So far I'm happy, although we haven't reached the really wet and windy part of the year here. I'll probably add more once I've used it through that. It did get a decent outing in heavy rain recently and kept me dry, which is more than I can say for some I've had. Worth considering if you want a straightforward umbrella that feels well made.

Jose Hooper

I'm not saying nothing else could be as good.

.Had a good look over this and the details impress me....stitching, ribs, the button mechanism, even the oval loop handle. Nothing about it feels carelessly put together. Is that me being generous? Not really. I can usually find little things to pick at, especially after years of ordinary cheap umbrellas. I'm not saying nothing else could be as good. Windproof? I wouldn't use that word for any handheld umbrella. Mine has felt steady in normal use, but I haven't gone looking for weather that will beat it. I'll add something if I learn more. Shade -- useful? Yes. It gets me out of direct sun, which is what I want it for. Looking graceful while holding an umbrella is a separate achievement, probably deserving a prize. - - - Operation - - - The button collapses the canopy, not the whole telescoping stem. That part needs a manual reset before putting it away. Worth knowing, not something I count against it. ~~~ That's my impression so far ~~~

Dale Humphrey

I can clip the handle onto my closet rack too, which is useful.

The oval loop is comfortable to hold, which was one of the first things I noticed. There's enough canopy for two of us if we stand close. Haven't had the weather to see how it behaves in much wind yet, but the frame feels solid when it's open and nothing seems flimsy. I can clip the handle onto my closet rack too, which is useful. Overall it feels like a well put together umbrella rather than a throwaway one.

Katrina Salazar

A hat wasn't doing enough for me.

Wanted some shade for my daily lunchtime walk, because summer sun can make it rather hard going. A hat wasn't doing enough for me. The photo's of this umbrella looked lovely, and I was delighted to find it just as attractive in person. It gives me a comfortable bit of shade as I walk without spoiling the pleasure of being outside. I also feel rather pretty carrying it, which is a nice extra when all I originally wanted was something practical. Very glad I chose it.

Cristina Castro

Well worth the little extra.

I've owned two now, having left the first on a train, and neither gave me trouble. The canopy covers me comfortably and the shaft and oval handle both feel sturdy. Opens at a press of the button, which is very handy when the rain starts. Well worth the little extra.

Jesus Bryan

This was on my wish list and I received it as a gift.

This was on my wish list and I received it as a gift. It feels well made, though I wouldn't say it's tougher than every other umbrella. For me the nicest detail (and what makes it feel a little special) is the oval loop handle. Other people have said how smart it looks too.

Monique Warner

I gave her this umbrella as a slightly grudging joke gift.

The first big football final my fiance and I watched together is still a source of grief for me. I was loudly backing my team, so she decided she ought to support the other side because they were the underdogs. That was about the extent of her football knowledge, but it didn't stop the two of us arguing through the game over who deserved to win. Naturally her side came out on top. She's managed to remind me of it for most of the year, which I probably deserve for all my noise beforehand. I gave her this umbrella as a slightly grudging joke gift. It was still something useful, rather than a joke that would end up stuck in a cupboard. She seemed genuinely excited when she opened the box, so that worked out better than I expected. A few rainy outings later she's had nothing but good things to say about it, and I'm happy to count that as money well spent :)

Marco Kerr

Lost the last one somewhere.

Lost the last one somewhere. May have disappeared from the covered bed of my pickup while I was staying at a motel, can't say for certain. No hard feelings to whoever has it now, they got a good umbrella. Bought another because people always admired it. This one is just as nice and comes along to the golf course.

Isaiah Sheppard

It looks very stylish and the oval handle gives me a comfortable grip.

A push with my thumb opens this umbrella quickly, and another press brings the canopy in when I'm done. I then slide the shaft down by hand and put it away. It looks very stylish and the oval handle gives me a comfortable grip. I use it for shade as well as rain, and appreciate having some relief from direct sunshine. This has been a satisfying purchase and I'd happily replace it with the same one when needed.

Glenn Berry

It goes into my laptop bag without a struggle.

My last folding umbrella stayed with me for years before I managed to lose it. This one gives me a useful balance of a small folded size and decent shelter. It goes into my laptop bag without a struggle. When I open it there's plenty of space for me, rather than that cramped feeling some compact umbrellas have. Another person can squeeze alongside me if necessary.

Tanya Matthews

Rain is bad enough before the wind joins in!

Chicago gets called the Windy City and if you walk around in the rain you soon understand it! Rain is bad enough before the wind joins in! I had bought cheaper umbrellas before and got tired of fighting with them, so I spent a little extra on this one. Honestly I wasn't sure it would be much different. Then I was walking in the rain and realised I was just getting on with my walk, not concentrating on keeping hold of an umbrella! Seeing other people gripping theirs and bending into the weather reminded me it was windy too. I could stay upright and carry on. For the ordinary rain and gusts I've had it out in, it has been good. Why only four stars then? It's quite weighty considering it folds down. Not an issue going to work, doing errands, walking around town etc... but for a long trip I would think twice about packing it. You still have to account for the room it takes up as well as the weight. The carrying sleeve is handy for keeping it together, doesn't change what you have to carry though! So this is the umbrella I'd choose for my normal daily routine, and I'd probably pack something lighter for a holiday. That's really my only reservation. Still pleased with it for everyday use.

Kelsey Hinton

Hard to find anything to complain about so far.

Hard to find anything to complain about so far. Opened up, it gives me very good coverage, and another person can squeeze beside me if necessary. It is really attractive to look at, certainly catches the eye. There are plenty of ribs under there and the frame feels solid rather than flimsy. I haven't had it long, so no proper storm test yet, but gently flexing the canopy by hand gave me a good impression of how it is put together. Here on the rainy west coast it should see plenty of outings. I'm considering a second one to keep in reserve.Packaging was something I had worried about after reading reviews, but this one was protected well and arrived without any marks or damage.

Patricia Munoz

My issue is carrying it.

Rain in Chicago usually brings some wind with it, and I've seen plenty of ruined umbrellas in the bins downtown, including ones I used to own. This one has stayed the right way round on the windy days I've tried it. My issue is carrying it. Even folded, it's longer than I really want and won't sit properly in my work bag. So I've ended up using another umbrella for work, but this is a decent one otherwise.
