Compact, solid, and effective.

I owed someone an umbrella after losing the one she lent me. She's a New York businesswoman who can make a taxi driver refuse a fare just by arguing with him, so not easily impressed. She calls this her favourite umbrella yet.Compact, solid, and effective.I seem to have made amends.

Very nice.

There's a nice amount of room under it and I've stayed dry through some very wet days. The closed loop handle is handy when I'm carrying it folded too, it feels comfortable in my hand. Very nice. I'm pleased to have a decent umbrella ready when I need one instead of wishing I'd brought something for the rain. Also that dog in the picture is so cute.

The description matched what I received .

The description matched what I received . Enough room for me with my laptop bag, which matters more to me than having the smallest umbrella. The loop handle takes a little getting used to, I still prefer a curved one. Not a big deal though. I don't use my umbrellas like a walking stick so the end isn't something I worry about. Costs more than the cheap ones I used to pick up but I think its worth it. Here in Florida the rain can really come down and this handled the last downpour very well. I may get another to leave in my other car. So far I am impressed with how solid it is, and would rather pay for this than keep buying cheap umbrellas.

It looks excellent and the button action seems good.

Taking this to Asia mainly for shade, though having it for showers will be useful too. It looks excellent and the button action seems good. My only hesitation is carrying the weight around all day, as it's more substantial than I expected for a compact umbrella. Otherwise it is exactly what I wanted!

Antonio Page

She's really pleased with it.

Got this for my wife, who wanted an umbrella with proper coverage rather than something so tiny it barely covers her. She's really pleased with it. It still folds away for carrying, but feels useful when it's open. Looks smart as well. For what it cost, I think it gives a very nice balance of looks and everyday usefulness.

Tara Callahan

It handled the rain and some wind without turning inside out.

Paying a little extra for an umbrella can feel silly, I know, but I think this one gets the everyday details right. My little list:- The cream white looks smart, with black underneath rather than a busy pattern.- There's a sleeve included. I need to straighten the folds before sliding it in, but it keeps things tidier once packed.- The construction has enough flex that it didn't feel brittle during a wet Seattle weekend (the usual sort of lovely weather, naturally). It handled the rain and some wind without turning inside out. I haven't tried it in anything extreme, and if the weather gets that bad I'd rather be indoors anyway.- The closed oval handle is a change from a hook. It gives me a secure place to hold without an open end sticking out.I can't tell anyone how many years it will last yet. So far though, it has been easy to use and seems worth the extra money to me.

I've always liked a solid feeling umbrella.

I've always liked a solid feeling umbrella. Construction looks good and it's holding up well so far. Handle is a little short for my liking, though comfortable enough. The outer edges flex in a breeze, so I point it into the rain rather than fight against it. Packs neatly into a backpack or briefcase without taking the space you'd expect from the open canopy.

Sabrina Underwood

Sturdy construction, and quite a generous size for a woman to carry.

Sturdy construction, and quite a generous size for a woman to carry. The gray is rather sober, not the softer shade I had pictured. My brother approves; to my eye it looks more masculine than pretty. The color is NOT my main reservation, though. The button deals with the canopy easily, but pushing the shaft down afterwards is awkward with gloves on. I struggle to get a good grip while compressing it, whereas bare hands are much easier. Everything works, it just takes more effort than I want when gloved. That's the reason for four stars, rather than only my taste in colors.

Alicia Salazar

The loop handle might not suit everyone, but I find it handy.

WOW, more coverage than I expected from something that folds up. My wife and I can tuck in together, and there's good space when I'm using it alone. Lots of ribs and the whole frame seems nicely made. Couldn't be more pleased. The loop handle might not suit everyone, but I find it handy.

I liked it enough to buy another.

I've lived with rain all my life, but that doesn't mean I want to prove anything by walking around getting soaked. Hoods and dull raincoats aren't really my thing, either. Taking this umbrella out makes a grey day a little less dreary, and the pink gives it some personality without me having to change what I'm wearing. It brings back nice memories of looking at umbrellas on visits to New York. The construction seems solid enough for everyday use, not some revolutionary piece of engineering, just a decent umbrella. I have comfortable room beneath it on my own, and a second person can squeeze in if we stay close. The button is convenient, too, although that isn't really why I like it. My only unhappy experience was leaving one in a restaurant umbrella rack and finding somebody had helped themselves to it. I liked it enough to buy another. Now I keep it with me rather than trusting the rack.

Jesse Odonnell

Really pleased with this umbrella.

Really pleased with this umbrella. When I'm driving, getting back in the car, that button makes closing the canopy so much easier than leaning out to pull it shut.I thought the blue could be a little too bright, but it's very nice.I've used it on windy days too and it stayed in shape. Happy to recommend.

Manuel Solomon

Too many little umbrellas have turned inside out on me, so I…

Too many little umbrellas have turned inside out on me, so I wanted something less flimsy for wet, blustery days. This one feels reassuringly solid and gives me decent cover in the rain. A bit of weight to carry around, yes, but I would rather that than another flimsy umbrella.

Joanne Maynard

I absolutely love having a bit of room under an umbrella at last.

I absolutely love having a bit of room under an umbrella at last. My little one insists on "sharing", which used to mean us bumping into each other while my shoulder got soaked. We tried this together in a REALLY heavy shower and both stayed nicely covered! It has a little weight to it, so worth remembering if you're carrying other things, but I'll gladly take that for the coverage. The gray looks lovely too, and I like the plain black underneath.

Mercedes Phillips

This feels like a step up.

I've generally used the inexpensive folding umbrellas from the local drugstore. This feels like a step up. More substantial and it has handled breezy weather better than those did. I can't judge long term durability yet, but at this point I'm satisfied with what I bought.

Donald Paul

That alone makes me very happy with this umbrella.

I was tired of umbrellas that turn into a battle whenever the wind picks up.This one has been such a relief!! It feels steady overhead instead of tugging about all over the place. Best of all my hair stays reasonably presentable rather than looking like I've let the weather do the styling for me. That alone makes me very happy with this umbrella. :)

Jillian Galloway

Feels solid without as much weight as I expected.

This was a welcome arrival. Opens to a decent size without being a giant thing to carry. I have already had it out during a wet round of golf and it kept the rain off me between shots. The frame stayed steady, too. For someone who still goes out when the weather isn't ideal, it is handy to have along. Feels solid without as much weight as I expected. Thanks for this one, there will be more rainy rounds to try it on.

For now, happy husband, happy purchase.

My husband had his eye on this umbrella and it turned up today. Getting it out of the packaging was rather more of an EVENT than either of us expected. He wrestled with it for a while and had plenty to say about how tightly it was packed, but eventually there it was, all in one piece. Once the grumbling stopped he was very pleased with it. It feels substantial without being awkward, and it looks smart too. We haven't had chance to try it in the rain yet, so I can't speak for that. For now, happy husband, happy purchase.

This folds up neatly and isn't too much to carry about.

Needed an umbrella to leave in my backpack for the walk to school when rain catches me out. This folds up neatly and isn't too much to carry about. Having a sleeve is useful when it's sharing the bag with everything else. It doesn't feel like carrying one of the big full length umbrellas, which is mostly a good thing for me. The handle could be a little bigger though, I would like more space for my hand. Otherwise a handy umbrella to have with me everyday instead of leaving one at home.

Now I understand the enthusiasm for these umbrellas!

Now I understand the enthusiasm for these umbrellas! Saw a video online and ended up ordering one for myself and some for Christmas presents. I was getting nervous about having everything ready.... but it all worked out and the umbrellas were just as good as I'd hoped. Mine opens easily, gives good cover and feels substantial without being awkward. The Christmas presents were sorted and I had one to keep too... very glad I went with these!!!

Jason Macdonald

These have been great!

My husband & I each keep one for our 14 year old son's travel baseball games. They feel well put together and having that shade makes sitting in the sun much easier. With lupus, direct sunlight is difficult for me, so mine gets plenty of use. We own a bigger canopy too, but getting that set up for the two of us isn't worth the trouble. These have been great!

Jeffery Shields

Should be handy for shade and rain.

I hesitated after reading some poor reviews, then liked it enough to buy a few more. Heavy things are hard for me to hold so weight matters. This is manageable (not one of those feather light ones, but manageable), and the ribs feel solid. Should be handy for shade and rain. Haven't actually been out with it yet haha.

Tara Lam

Good coverage too.

Took this to Ireland and was glad I'd made room for it. A press opens it, another press folds the canopy, then I shorten the shaft by hand and wrap it closed. Useful when the rain comes out of nowhere, which seemed to happen most days. I nearly left it behind because it isn't especially tiny, but it fitted in my daypack and got plenty of use. Good coverage too.The green looks cheerful when everything outside looks gray. Spent far too much time deciding which umbrella to pack, but I ended up with the right one for me.

Greg Cortez

The button is handy too.

My old umbrella had been with me for about 15 years, so replacing it was overdue. I've had this one around six months and it hasn't quite got the same substantial feel. Maybe I'm expecting too much after keeping the previous one so long. It still keeps the rain off and I like how little space it takes up. The button is handy too. I'm happy enough to carry on using it, just not convinced yet that it'll be another umbrella I keep for years and years.

Geoffrey Estrada

A very nice umbrella.

A very nice umbrella. It arrived quickly and I'm happy with how it looks and feels. The little sleeve is probably going to sit unused, i just can't see myself taking the time to tuck it in every time - lol We don't get much rain here in the desert, so it won't be out constantly. It'll stay in the car for those few occasions though! The gray is a lovely color!

Misty Sims

First off, I like the plain black look.

First off, I like the plain black look. We get rain pretty often here and I wanted something I'd be happy carrying rather than hiding away. It covers me well and the quick opening is handy. Closing needs a little effort after the canopy folds, because you still have to compress the pole yourself. What I appreciate most is having a sleeve to keep the folded umbrella together. Once I've arranged the fabric it slips inside without much fuss.I'm pleased with both the size in use and the size packed away. I'd choose this one again!

Melinda Garner

Couldn't be more pleased with this umbrella.

Couldn't be more pleased with this umbrella. It has a good span when it's up, enough for two of us if we stay close together, without being a long thing to carry when folded. We went for a walk soon after it arrived and the rain came down halfway round. It did a really good job of keeping us dry. I haven't tried it for shade yet, but I can see it being handy in sunshine too. It feels sturdy and the plain black looks smart. Between the coverage and how easy it is to carry, I can't find anything to knock stars off for!

Brett Strong

When I tried it open I was tempted to keep it myself, actually.

Picked this out for a friend of a friend, thinking an umbrella with this sort of look would suit them rather well. When I tried it open I was tempted to keep it myself, actually. It is an everyday umbrella, not some luxurious delicate thing, but the finish is nice and I think the money was well spent.

Tricia Dixon

We decided to try this one and she's delighted with it.

My daughter's at university in Minnesota and needed a more dependable umbrella for campus. Her little one wasn't coping with the weather, even though it hadn't been cheap. We decided to try this one and she's delighted with it. It's handled her rainy walks to class very well so far and she says it's easy to carry too. Thank you

Alfred Mcbride

A great choice for both!

I needed an umbrella to take golfing and wanted one that wasn't a nuisance to carry. A great choice for both! It seems very nicely made, and I especially like how quickly it opens with the button. The first weekend I had it there was rain during my tournament, so it got a proper outing straight away. Kept me covered between shots and I could shelter the tops of my clubs beside me too. No getting completely DRENCHED. I'd happily recommend it or buy another.

++Comfortable loop handle

After a month of carrying this most days, I'm still glad I chose it. The gray looks fairly understated, although the oval loop at the bottom gives it a little more character than the usual folding umbrella. Not exactly equipment for a secret mission, but it has its own look. The handle sits comfortably in my hand, and having a closed loop is something I've come to appreciate rather than just a detail I noticed in the pictures. The fabric and moving parts feel well put together. One press opens it cleanly, and another collapses the canopy. You then manually shorten the telescoping section to finish putting it away. Once I'd done that a couple of times, the routine felt straightforward. The sleeve is useful for keeping the folded umbrella tidy in my everyday bag. My one small grumble is that I have to take a moment to arrange the fabric neatly before sliding it in. Stuffing it in any old way isn't really an option. Not a great hardship, and I'd rather spend those few seconds than have it loose among everything else. For something I carry regularly, that seems a reasonable trade-off. PROS: ++Distinctive but fairly restrained appearance ++Comfortable loop handle ++Smooth button operation ++Useful cover for carrying CONS: --Putting it into the sleeve takes a little care I'd recommend it to someone wanting a dependable everyday umbrella with a slightly unusual handle. I've enjoyed using it, and the small packing fuss hasn't changed that.

Sheryl Salazar

Still a good umbrella overall.

I've enjoyed using this and people often notice it and say something nice. The canopy feels sturdy and the button mechanism does its job. A couple of small reservations though:The sleeve is quite snug, so it takes some care to put everything back in neatly. The oval handle is fine for short use but not quite as comfortable as I'd like on a longer walk. Still a good umbrella overall.

Tamara Mccarty

It would be perfectly useful out in the rain....

It would be perfectly useful out in the rain.... I just prefer keeping it for dance studio photographs. It looks so pretty in the pictures, and the umbrella feels solid rather than like a flimsy prop. Lovely to have something practical that also looks this good in a photograph.

I'm impressed enough to buy another couple for us.

We took this to Italy in June and ended up using it constantly. It was handy in the rain but the shade was what really won me over.Standing underneath felt so much more comfortable than being out in the direct sun. I'm impressed enough to buy another couple for us.

Angel Ochoa

Would recommend.

I burn quickly, so I wanted something I could hold for shade at summer track meets. There often isn't a tree anywhere near where we need to stand. This has been really useful for that, and other coaches and athletes have come over to share a little shade between events. It feels sturdy in my hand without being a great heavy thing to bring along. I've taken it to the beach too, where it's much simpler to carry than all the gear for a big shade setup. It's still a handheld umbrella, so I move it as needed, but that's exactly the convenience I wanted. Would recommend.

Steve Fowler

Opening is simple with the button on the handle.

I expected an ordinary folding umbrella, but there are a few details here that make it nicer to use.The canopy has kept the rain off me and also makes a good patch of shade on a sunny day. Opening is simple with the button on the handle. Pressing again collapses the canopy, then you compress the telescoping section yourself to finish putting it away. That last part is not automatic. The folded size is convenient for carrying, rather than having a long umbrella taking up space beside you. The sleeve included is useful for storing it once dry. Underneath the fabric is black, with gray on the outside, a fairly understated look. There are 30 flexible ribs supporting the canopy and the whole thing feels quite substantial without being too much to carry. The oval loop handle is different from a curved hook, but I find it comfortable. It is a closed loop, not something open ended. CONTENTS: Folding umbrella and carry sleeve. FEATURES: Automatic opening, button-operated canopy collapse, flexible rib frame, oval carabiner handle. For normal rain or when I want some shade, it has been a useful one to keep around.

Charlotte Harding

Only a few days and it was here!!

Only a few days and it was here!! Medium sized when opened, rather than huge. Around 105cm across seems a useful size to me. The button releases it with a sudden jump, which could give you a surprise. Quite entertaining! It looks strongly built, and the price was low enough that I am smiling~

Eduardo Oconnor

it's an umbrella, and this one's frickin' great.

.Honestly I don't get why people expect some enormous shelter from a folding umbrella... it's an umbrella, and this one's frickin' great. The build is good too!Got one for my boyfriend, who's into all those sword fighting games, and he loves it. His office crowd apparently think it's pretty cool as well (his words). Might have to get my own and put a few sparkly bits on the handle.

Tanya Gates

Angling the top toward the wind has worked well for me though.

I'm used to the cheap tall golf umbrellas that are awkward to carry around once the rain stops. This one is roughly 40cm folded and opens to about 105cm across, with a telescoping shaft and loop grip. Wind underneath the canopy will still make it want to take off, same as any umbrella. I wouldn't suggest sticking it through a sun-roof while driving along -- that is asking a bit much. Angling the top toward the wind has worked well for me though. The sewing at the fabric/rib joins looks a bit rough for what it costs, no actual trouble from it yet. Also the button opening has quite a snap to it, so I use that carefully rather than just letting it fly. I've not had water come through the material. Getting soaked has been more a case of rain blowing in from the side, which no overhead canopy will completely sort out. If you're concerned about the fabric soaking through, a suitable water-repellent fabric spray might be worth looking at, although I haven't needed it.

Renee Ritter

Cream white looks lovely.

Carrying something this pretty makes rainy days more fun! Cream white looks lovely. I'd give it the full five except that pushing the telescoping part down takes some effort after the canopy closes. Nothing wrong with it, you just need to give it a firm shove!

Ethan Melendez

A really useful little umbrella!!

My old compact umbrella had been with me for years, so when it was time to replace it I wanted the same sort of thing again. I don't want to lug a full length umbrella around just because the sky looks doubtful. This one can go in my purse, and once opened there is enough room underneath to keep me dry. It feels more substantial than its folded size might suggest.I've had it turn inside out in a gust, but was able to put it right and carry on using it. The button still worked normally afterwards and it packed away without a struggle. That mattered more to me than any fancy appearance. A really useful little umbrella!! I would certainly recommend it.

Lovely to see the Grandsons so excited over a bit of rain!

We had all been praying for some rain here in California. My Daughter has four boys and I found umbrellas for them, this pink one included. Of course after all that praying we finally had several rainy days. The boys were outside enjoying every minute of it. Ages 4 to 11 and not exactly gentle, but this umbrella has been fine. Lovely to see the Grandsons so excited over a bit of rain! Those are memories I'll keep!

Ricky Lam

Finally an umbrella that feels substantial!

Finally an umbrella that feels substantial! I've gone through enough flimsy ones to know what I don't want. This has a good sized canopy and doesn't feel like it'll give up at the first shower. There is room to tuck one of my children beside me as well. It looks smart too. I'd rather have one decent umbrella than keep paying for cheep ones that are no use when you need them.

Geoffrey Jefferson

it is easy for me to grip and carry.

The green canopy opens to about 105 cm and the umbrella arrived in good condition. There is some weight to it, but I find that acceptable for the coverage and solid feel. I can stand normally under it rather than hunching my shoulders to stay dry. The closed oval handle was one reason I chose this model; it is easy for me to grip and carry. Overall, very good value for this size of compact umbrella.

Mariah Owen

Working out nicely so far.

Working out nicely so far. My son likes it and the button makes opening it simple, with me there to help. Nothing has come apart yet! It looks cheerful even on a miserable day.UPDATE: A couple months later and it's still doing well. We're in Portland, with plenty of spring rain, so my five year old has given it regular use rather than leaving it tucked away.

Margaret Alexander

Honestly, this has surprised me in a good way.

When it comes down to umbrellas, I have always had my doubts about trying one I do not know. So I was a little skeptical that this would be worth the money, because umbrellas can look good and still not be much umbrella. Honestly, this has surprised me in a good way. The frame has a solid feel and the rain has not been much trouble when I use it. It is not just about the price, it is the quality for that price which counts, and this one does make a good showing of that. The button is convenient for opening and bringing the canopy closed. I do wish the shaft would retract itself too, but you have to press it down yourself to finish. That is the only inconvenience for me.Price: B Convenience: B Overall: B+

Cheyenne Willis

I think parents will appreciate that part.

There's a useful amount of room under this umbrella for me and someone standing close, without having to carry a long full sized umbrella everywhere. The button makes getting it open simple, which matters when you've got a child beside you and the rain is starting. I think parents will appreciate that part. Mine is black, a straightforward colour that goes with anything, and the whole umbrella has a solid feel to it. It has kept the rain off nicely and I've also found it useful for a patch of shade when the sun comes out. You do need to keep close if sharing, it isn't a giant family canopy, but for something that folds up I'm impressed by the coverage and how well it's made.

Dustin Kelley

It folds down to a manageable size, though I wouldn't call it tiny.

I wanted an umbrella for a trip to Europe that would fit in my luggage without taking up a whole corner. The beige turned out to be a good choice with the khaki coat and black trousers I'll be wearing most days, so I'm happy about that. It folds down to a manageable size, though I wouldn't call it tiny. The button opening is handy and the cover is enough for me on my own. I do think the price is a bit high for a single-person umbrella, but it suits what I needed and I will be taking it along.

Veronica Hodge

I'm so happy with this umbrella!

I'm so happy with this umbrella! I was worried about the material being thin, so that was the first thing I looked at when I opened it. It doesn't feel flimsy to me at all. I think it's about what umbrella fabric ought to feel like. The whole thing seems well put together and I think it should last nicely. Now I keep watching for some rain so I can actually take it out instead of opening it indoors! I haven't had that chance yet, so this is just my first impression. If I enjoy using it outside as much as I enjoy it now, I'll probably want another one in a different color.

Blake Coffey

These have been handy for the children.

These have been handy for the children. We ordered three and all work properly. The button makes sense to them: one press opens it, another brings the fabric part in. (Not sure that's the right word. I mean the canopy rather than the pole down the middle.) The pole needs pushing down by hand afterwards, which I help with. Less fiddling about for them! HEADS UP: My son -- a first grader -- likes using his, but this isn't one of those tiny toddler umbrellas. There is plenty of room over him, so I don't see him growing out of it in a hurry.

Sherri Everett

She thinks it looks nice too, simple enough for work.

My little sister is working in Japan and I got this for her...It's rainy season there and she walks to the school where she works...She really likes it!!! We're both overseas, me in Italy, so it means a LOT to find her something useful even when I'm not nearby. She says it feels sturdy and the button opening makes it handy when she's setting off. I like that it folds away rather than being a big long umbrella for her to carry around. She thinks it looks nice too, simple enough for work. So happy she has something she likes for those wet walks!!!
