My old folding umbrella lasted for years before it disappeared.

My old folding umbrella lasted for years before it disappeared. Possibly somebody took it home thinking it was theirs. I made do with cheap ones after that, and eventually got fed up replacing them. This feels like a proper replacement at last. There is enough coverage for me without having to steer a giant umbrella through everyone else on the pavement. That matters when you are walking downtown with a lot of other people doing the same thing. It has also been manageable in the gusts between buildings, though I haven't taken it out in anything extreme. Opening it automatically is handy, but closing the canopy by button is the feature I appreciate most. My old umbrella didn't do that, and I hadn't realised how useful it would be. Once folded it is a sensible size to carry. Glad I stopped relying on the cheap stopgaps.

This feels like a proper replacement at last.

I used to have a compact umbrella that lasted ages, until it disappeared. Lost it myself or somebody decided it belonged to them, I'm still not sure. For a while I made do with inexpensive ones, but never liked them much. This feels like a proper replacement at last. Opened out it's about 105cm across, which gives me the coverage I need without taking over the whole pavement. That matters when you're walking through people all carrying umbrellas. It has felt steady on my walks between the buildings downtown where the breeze can catch you unexpectedly. I particularly like that the button both opens it and folds the canopy in. The pole still needs pushing down afterwards, but that is simple enough. My old favourite only opened automatically and I hadn't realised how convenient the closing part would be. For what I wanted, this has been an excellent purchase and I would happily choose it again.

It's a nice umbrella and I'm glad I went for it.

No complaints here. I think how you put an umbrella away makes a difference. I leave this one open until it is dry, then smooth the fabric down before rolling it up. No point trying to rush it into the sleeve (and I do mean dry all the way through). It's a nice umbrella and I'm glad I went for it.

The umbrella has a smart, understated appearance.

The umbrella has a smart, understated appearance. Once open, it feels more substantial than I expected from a folding model. The oval handle looks neat and is comfortable to hold, and the 30 ribs give the canopy a well-supported feel. It has felt steady on breezy walks as well. One thing to bear in mind is that compact does not mean tiny. Folded, this still takes up some space, and open it is wide enough that I need to pay attention to other people on the sidewalk. Walking around Boston, I appreciate having decent coverage without carrying a full-length umbrella. If you want a solid everyday umbrella and don't need something pocket-sized, I think this is an excellent choice.

No need to look round the house for an umbrella now.

I keep this umbrella near the basement door, It is handy because that is where we go out with the garbage and somebody always needs it when it rains. My husband takes everything out the night before collection and there is usually something else to carry out in the morning before he goes to work. No need to look round the house for an umbrella now. I have also been using it for shade, which was not really why I got it, but it is much nicer than standing in the sun. Surprising how often something you leave right by a door gets used.I let it dry before putting it away and sometimes it ends up on the kitchen chair till my husband moves it. Very convenient, and much less bulky when closed than the ones we used to leave about.

Would happily recommend.

Picked this as a birthday gift for a friend who's 22 and usually more interested in swords than sensible things like umbrellas. Thought a useful present might be a change! It feels solid and the canopy pops out when you press the button. Enough cover for your head and shoulders, though a backpack sticks out a little behind. I tried it around the house first and felt very well equipped for the next shower (Obviously this was quality control, not me playing with someone else's present.) The pink looks cheerful and the oval handle gives it a slightly unusual look without being awkward to hold. Would happily recommend.PS The black underneath is a nice contrast to the pink. I actually like that detail more than I expected!

Used mine today n it's a cracking umbrella.

Used mine today n it's a cracking umbrella. There was room for me n my little dog to stay covered. Blue is a colour I'd happily use as a lady n it would suit a man too. The handle loop lets me carry it on a finger with my other stuff when it's shut, not taking up my whole hand!Happy I picked it, a really handy compact thing.

Crystal Camacho

this button feels solid enough, so fingers crossed on that.

Plenty of room over one person, or two if you're very friendly. I am hoping the automatic mechanism outlasts my old umbrella; this button feels solid enough, so fingers crossed on that. It gets down to a sensible size for putting away. The sleeve is useful for carrying it, though I leave the umbrella out to dry before sliding it in rather than packing it away damp.

This compact umbrella seemed a sensible one to try.

At the prison where I work in California, a normal day involves miles of walking outside. It is out in a valley with very little shelter, & the rain seems to come at you sideways whenever the wind picks up. Umbrellas haven't had a particularly long life there. I've been through enough of them that buying another one has become tiresome, including ones that looked much tougher than they turned out to be. I started looking more carefully this time. There are restrictions on what we can bring into work, so some of the larger styles weren't an option. This compact umbrella seemed a sensible one to try. Once open, there's a good amount of coverage, but it doesn't feel enormous to walk around with. It has felt solid on the wet, windy walks I've used it for so far, rather than leaving me watching it constantly and waiting for it to turn over. Several coworkers noticed it on the first day and said how nice it looked. Compliments about an umbrella sound a little ridiculous until you've spent enough time walking across that place in the rain. I told a few people which one it was because they have much the same problem finding something practical. I still don't particularly enjoy paying for another umbrella after all the others I've bought. If this one lasts me through a couple of rainy seasons, though, I'll consider it money sensibly spent. My only reservation is the weight; you do notice it after carrying it a while.

Feels sturdy & well made too.

Living in Phoenix with very fair skin, I don't enjoy the walk to the light rail once the weather heats up. I work downtown & the train is lovely in winter, but spring and summer are another story. Even that short walk leaves me sweating (really, it doesn't take long!). I hesitated over spending this much on an umbrella just for shade, but I'm glad I stopped putting it off. Walking underneath it feels so much more comfortable than having the sun directly on me. Still hot out there, obviously, but a big difference to me. Feels sturdy & well made too. It's only been a couple of weeks & already I reach for it without thinking before I leave for work.

The opening button is handy too!

I've owned several umbrellas over the years and appreciate one that I can rely on. This one has been easy to use and has kept me dry, which is what counts. The opening button is handy too! Happy with the quality and I'd certainly be willing to buy the same one again!

We bought this to replace an umbrella we brought home from a holiday in Japan a couple of years back. It feels carefully put together, with a neat finish that makes it more than just a rainy-day necessity. For anyone looking for a useful but slightly different present, I would certainly consider giving one of these.

What a lovely umbrella!

What a lovely umbrella! Arrived quickly and was packed carefully, which made a good start. Opening it brought back how excited I used to get about a new umbrella as a child!! There was a little dust on the fabric, easily wiped away. It's a nice size once open and the button action feels smooth. A press opens it, another draws the canopy in, then I push the shaft back down. No rainy outing yet, but rain is due over the next few days. I can't wait to take it out. Delighted with the whole thing!

Rachael Powell

Really like the loop handle-nice solid feel.

Such a cute green umbrella! It's been used a lot and still feels sturdy. My 6 year old manages opening and closing it without trouble (he could at 5 too). Really like the loop handle-nice solid feel. He loves the colour and is much keener to head for school when it's raining!

Fernando Andrade

There was wind and then there was WIND, but the canopy kept its shape.

So we get enough wet weather in New England that I wanted something I could rely on for ordinary rainy days. Took this out when the rain was gusting about and it did a really good job. There was wind and then there was WIND, but the canopy kept its shape. Not pretending you stay completely dry when rain comes at you sideways, it still kept most of it off me. It wasn't the cheapest umbrella I've bought, but it feels substantial and looks good as well. I can't say how many years it will last, only that I'm impressed with it now. Easy to use and decent cover, what more do I need?

Our three year old had an umbrella on his Christmas list, so we spent ages looking through the choices before picking this one. The pink is bright and fun, and there's plenty of room over him when he walks beside us. I help with getting it ready and putting it away, but he loves being the one holding it on our walks. The trouble is persuading him that umbrellas can be put away indoors, he would happily have it up everywhere.

Shane Shepard

No rain since it arrived, so I can't say how it handles that yet.

It's so pretty! Looks just like I hoped and opens out wider than I expected from the folded size. I chose green and really like how it looks in person. The handle feels solid, though I was a little cautious with the automatic button at first because it opens quite quickly. No rain since it arrived, so I can't say how it handles that yet. I'll add something when I've had a chance.UPDATE: Finally had a wet day to try it and I love it even more. I was out with my dog in the carrier pouch against me, and we both stayed dry under the canopy. It put me in a good mood despite the weather!.I don't usually get excited about an umbrella, but this one is practical and nice to look at. Very pleased I chose it.

Ralph Leonard

For me, the canopy makes up for those small reservations.

The first impression is of a substantial umbrella, and the shape of the open canopy is particularly pleasing. It looks tidy folded as well. The oval loop handle is useful, although its appearance is more practical than elegant when examined closely. I also find it a fairly noticeable weight in my bag for a compact umbrella; it fits, but it is not something I forget is there. The closely spaced ribs make the underside look a little busy, though the flexible framework is reassuring in use. For me, the canopy makes up for those small reservations. Rain runs off well, and a shake gets rid of much of the water before I go indoors. I still leave it open to dry rather than expecting it to be instantly dry. Overall it is a handsome, useful umbrella, with a few details I would refine.

Jackie Kirk

The coverage is a little less than I'd choose ideally, but...

There are smaller travel umbrellas, but I can still fit this in my backpack or laptop bag without much trouble. A press on the button sends it straight open. All those folded sections hold drops after use, so I wouldn't throw away the sleeve. I slip it in for the trip back and let everything dry out at home. The coverage is a little less than I'd choose ideally, but... that's the trade off with a travel umbrella!

Catherine Rubio

Stay dry AND pack it away easily --- that's my kind of umbrella!

Once you have an umbrella this convenient, the hard part is remembering where you put it. The cream white looks smart on city walks, with decent cover and a folded size that's easy to carry afterwards. Friends and people at work have asked about getting one too. Stay dry AND pack it away easily --- that's my kind of umbrella!

Jeanne Barron

I love how it looks!

Needed something for the 20-plus minute walk from my car to campus, mostly for a bit of shade. I love how it looks! It also gives good cover when it rains, which makes carrying it feel worthwhile. My hesitation is just how it will last with everyday use; the feel of the handle isn't quite as substantial as I'd expected for the money. Nothing has gone wrong, and I do like the overall design. It has made that long walk MUCH more pleasant!

Jeff Cunningham

Works for rain as well, of course.

This has become my umbrella for watching the grandchildren play summer baseball and softball. Having my own patch of shade is GREAT, especially when there isn't a tree anywhere useful. SO much nicer than sitting with the sun straight on me...and it folds down to something I can actually carry home. I don't expect a compact umbrella to shade the whole row of seats, but for me it is very welcome. Works for rain as well, of course. (My little portable bit of comfort :-) I hesitated over spending this much on an umbrella because I do like a bargain, but I'm glad I went ahead. It feels well made and the button makes it simple to put up when I need it. I've already told people how useful it is. For something that does both jobs, I'm happy with the value.

Darryl Mcfarland

Nothing complicated once you've done it.

I had a question about using the umbrella after it arrived, so I got in touch with customer service. The reply was friendly and actually answered what I was asking, which I appreciated. Once I had tried it a few times, I understood why people like it so much. It opens neatly, the canopy closes with a press, and then you push the telescoping section in yourself. Nothing complicated once you've done it.It's also a handy size to take along, rather than something I leave behind because it's too awkward. I've had it out in rain and some breezy weather and it has been great. Between the umbrella itself and the pleasant help, I'm glad I chose this one!

Ryan Bautista

Possibly the nicest looking compact umbrella I've had.

Possibly the nicest looking compact umbrella I've had. It is still a compact umbrella rather than something I would choose for really rough weather. I think it will suit the two week trip I have planned, mainly for a bit of shade and the odd shower. Opening it is straightforward. Worth buying if you want something pretty and practical without expecting a huge canopy.

Sherry Ho

I'm really pleased with it.

The walk into my office gets a surprising amount of wind between the buildings. I regularly see discarded umbrellas by the rubbish bin there, which tells you something about that stretch. My previous umbrella struggled, so I was keen to find something sturdier. This one has handled my commute very well and hasn't turned inside out on me. I'm really pleased with it. I'd certainly choose it again, though right now I can't see myself needing a replacement any time soon.

A very nice item to have on the auction table!!

Another purchase for the silent auction at our golf outing fundraiser. I wanted something useful that people would actually bid on, and this folding umbrella looks just the part. It seems nicely put together and the push-button opening is a good touch. A very nice item to have on the auction table!!

Sydney Merritt

Black is apparently my husband's entire colour palette.

Black is apparently my husband's entire colour palette. This is a nice, no-fuss umbrella for the winter rain we get in California. I haven't put it through fierce winds, since that isn't really our weather. He is happy with it because it does its job without a lot of extras getting in the way. And if it wears out eventually, the price makes another one easy enough to manage.

Kathy Nunez

I help with shortening the shaft afterwards.

My 5 year old son has been using this and it seems to be standing up to him well. He can work the button himself, which he likes. I help with shortening the shaft afterwards. The sleeve is the slightly fiddly part, especially when the fabric isn't wrapped neatly, so putting it away isn't quite as quick as opening it.

Christie Freeman

Haven's compact umbrella is good value for the way I use an umbrella.

Haven's compact umbrella is good value for the way I use an umbrella. My usual yardstick is a big golf umbrella, so this had a slightly unfair comparison from the outset. It stacks up rather well, though. There are things a larger umbrella will always do better, but there are also good reasons not to carry that much umbrella everywhere. The handle is the first obvious difference. It has a closed oval loop rather than a hook, and I find that a decent shape to grip. The opening button is probably the feature I appreciate most. Press it and the canopy opens promptly, instead of having to get everything extended while the rain is already coming down. Another press folds the canopy; you then shorten the telescoping section manually. That last bit is a separate step, not completely automatic packing away. Looking up inside, there are 30 flexible ribs supporting the canopy. It is quite a busy-looking framework compared with a simpler umbrella. More ribs are not, on their own, proof of anything, but the support looks good and the fabric sits evenly. Nothing about it looks particularly skimpy. On weight, this is around 390g. I would not call it something you cannot feel in a bag, but it is a much more reasonable everyday proposition than my big umbrella. There is only so much room in a golf bag before something has to give, and I would rather the umbrella took less of it. A little more room for a drink is not a bad exchange either. The fabric and stitching look respectable. I am not examining every stitch with a magnifying glass, but the finish is tidy where it matters. Open, the canopy is roughly 105cm across, which gives me useful coverage without having to be a huge umbrella. Folded, it is about 40cm long. That is compact enough to put away conveniently, although not the tiny sort you would lose in a coat pocket. There is still a coverage advantage to the golf umbrella. Particularly around the edges, extra width is extra width, and folding smaller does not change that. For one person in ordinary rain, though, I have not found myself wishing I had brought the bigger one. That is the comparison that matters to me more than a measurement on paper. As for the framework, I like that the ribs have some flexibility rather than simply feeling rigid. I cannot tell you that counting ribs predicts how long an umbrella will last. What I can say is that opening it gives a reassuringly supported canopy, and closing it does not leave me wrestling with a big loose bundle. The value question comes down to what you actually need. If maximum coverage is the priority, a large umbrella still makes sense. If it spends much of its time being carried while it is not raining, the smaller folded size starts earning its keep. For my use, that is a substantial advantage, not just a nice specification. I would keep the same sensible expectations about wind that I have with any handheld umbrella. Flexible supports are welcome; they are not a reason to stand out in weather that has everyone else heading indoors. At that point the clubhouse has rather more appeal anyway. Mine is Cream White, with the black underside. I like the contrast, and the light outer colour gives it a clean, understated appearance. My wife was quite happy with the look too; it does not have the conspicuous golfing appearance of my usual umbrella. One small extra worth mentioning is the carry sleeve. Not the sort of thing that would decide the purchase for me, but useful for keeping everything together once it is dry and folded. Overall, a very satisfactory everyday alternative to carrying the big umbrella. Enough coverage for what I need, a convenient button action, and a much more manageable package when the rain stops.

Finally found the sort of coverage I've admired in umbrellas while travelling! It feels generous when open, yet still folds away rather than being a full-length umbrella. On wet days I have room for myself and the bags I'm carrying, which is just what I wanted.

Justin Delgado

Mine is the compact folding model.

Mine is the compact folding model. Folded length is about 40cm and the weight is around 390g, so it is not one of those tiny featherweight umbrellas. The frame has 30 flexible ribs and feels quite substantial in use. I like having the button to open it and close the canopy. For the size and construction it seems a good buy, and I'm very pleased with mine

Lance Zuniga

So far I have been satisfied with the quality.

Having gone through too many bargain umbrellas, I spent some time reading before choosing this one. I wanted something more substantial without having to carry a full length umbrella everywhere. So far I have been satisfied with the quality. The frame has a reassuring feel and the canopy gives me useful cover in ordinary rain. The closed oval handle is different from the usual hook shape, but I find it easy to keep hold of. Opening it is straightforward with the button. To put it away, another press folds the canopy and I compress the pole afterwards. It is not a tiny pocket umbrella, which is worth knowing, but it is a practical size for carrying. The whole buying experience was uncomplicated, and I think it would make a useful present as well. I would compare prices before ordering rather than assume the first price you see is the best. For anyone fed up with flimsy umbrellas, this seems a worthwhile step up.

This green Umbrella made my Grand-daughter so happy at Christmas.

This green Umbrella made my Grand-daughter so happy at Christmas. She is ten and didn't have one of herown, so this was something she could actually use. It feels nicely put together and the color is cheerful even with a dull sky. She kept wanting to look at it after opening her presents.I gave it five stars because seeing her so pleased meant alot, and the umbrella itself seems good quality too. A lovely gift for a child who wants their own umbrella, though I'd be happy using it myself. Would certainly buy again.

Sheila Holland

A pretty cream white umbrella that's useful as well as stylish.

A pretty cream white umbrella that's useful as well as stylish. Here at the tip of Texas we get gusty weather and my previous umbrellas struggled with it. This one has been much steadier for me so far. I also like the closed oval handle, easy to hold onto when the umbrella is folded and not in use.

Deanna Cervantes

I'm very happy with this umbrella!

I'm very happy with this umbrella! It feels properly put together rather than flimsy, and it has stayed the right way round when a gust has caught it. Some umbrellas I've owned felt rather disposable, so the difference was noticeable as soon as I held this one. It is still fairly new, so I can't make grand claims about how many years it will last, but everything feels reassuring so far. The flexible ribs give it a bit of movement rather than making the whole thing feel rigid. Most importantly, I have stayed dry underneath it. For a compact umbrella, it feels like a sensible purchase and I would recommend it.

Laurie Jackson

I'm happy to stop for a chat, unless the rain is really coming down.

I hadn't thought a plain umbrella could get people chatting, but the pink has earned quite a few nice remarks. It looks cheerful on a wet day and people seem to notice it. I'm happy to stop for a chat, unless the rain is really coming down. A fun thing to carry.

Norman Manning

Odd to be hoping for rain, but here we are.

Odd to be hoping for rain, but here we are.Anyway, the shape was what caught my eye and then I started wondering whether this was one of those umbrellas you have to open yourself. I couldn't quite work that out from the pictures, and automatic opening is something I've got rather used to. Not a huge issue, just something I wanted to know before getting attached to it. Well, a press of the button sends it straight up, so that settled that. It's now the umbrella I reach for first. The button also brings the canopy down; you still shorten the telescoping part yourself afterwards. Took me a moment to realise that was the whole closing process, rather than expecting everything to disappear into the handle. It's a compact umbrella, not something I'd use as a walking stick, so I won't be tapping it along the pavement. But hey, it covers me properly and is easy enough to carry once folded, which is most of what I wanted. The handle deserves a mention because it's a closed oval loop rather than the usual hook. A slightly different thing to hold, but comfortable enough. I do have an unfortunate tendency to wave a folded umbrella about like a pretend sword. Probably not what all those ribs were designed for, so I'll attempt to be sensible with my new favourite.

Kari Clarke

Got this for my granddaughter and it looks adorable with her.

Got this for my granddaughter and it looks adorable with her. She likes being able to carry it herself. There's plenty of cover over her when it's open. Feels well put together too, not flimsy. With Seattle's weather I'm glad she has an umbrella she actually wants to take along.

Kyle Haley

I've had several people ask me about it.

Finding this was a nice surprise as I prefer practical things that feel well made. It does have a bit of heft, so anyone wanting a barely-there umbrella should bear that in mind. The overall quality is good, though, and the oval handle is quite distinctive. I've had several people ask me about it.

Stanley Daniels

Having the sleeve to tidy it into is a good idea.

Of the umbrellas we've had for the children, this one has stayed useful the longest. My 5 year old never gets bored of trying the button, with me there to help put it away. Still opens properly after all that attention. Having the sleeve to tidy it into is a good idea.

Kirk Dougherty

Simple enough: the umbrella works well.

Simple enough: the umbrella works well. A press of the button opens it, and another press brings the canopy together -- it doesn't pull the pole in. You push that down manually, which gets it ready for the next time you want to open it. I've been using mine for a year now with no trouble, so as far as I'm concerned it's been a good buy.

Alicia Washington

Would recommend.

Had this ready for that long stretch of rain in New York over the weekend. I was outside for work for more than ten hours, and it handled the rain and gusts well. A little tiring to carry through a whole shift. The people at work kept saying it looked too dressy for the job, which I took as them wishing they had one too. Would recommend.

I wanted an umbrealla with decent coverage and this has been a good size for me. You do have to hold it the right way when rain comes from the side, otherwise some water can get onto your back. I wouldn't expect two adults to stay dry under it but for just me it does the job very well.

Francis Goodman

Once it arrived I was happy to find a solid, nicely finished umbrella.

I wasn't certain what the quality would be like at this price, but decided it was worth trying. Once it arrived I was happy to find a solid, nicely finished umbrella. My son absolutely loves it! It was one of his Christmas presents and turned out a good choice

Cesar Beltran

I find this umbrella unusually attractive.

I find this umbrella unusually attractive. The canopy has a lovely even curve when it opens, and the supporting ribs look almost like part of the design. I like that the construction is neat rather than hidden under decoration. A practical thing can still be beautiful. The frame looks substantial, with plenty of reinforcement underneath, and there is a comfortable amount of cover for me. It has kept the rain off well. For once I actually want wet weather so I have a reason to take it out. Lovely to have something useful that I also enjoy looking at!

Miguel Sanders

It's nice and wide once opened.

The fabric looks like it should last, and the stitching seems decent too. It's nice and wide once opened. I like pressing a button rather than having to slide it up myself. Closing the canopy is just as simple, although you still have to push the shaft down by hand. That part needs a bit more effort than I would like when I'm carrying other things. The handle feels solid and I haven't had any trouble using it. For an everyday umbrella I think it's a decent buy, especially since I usually leave mine somewhere before they wear out.

Chris Wilkinson

Bought it for my girlfriend and she's really pleased with it.

Bought it for my girlfriend and she's really pleased with it. It slips into her backpack, then opens out with a button press into a proper sturdy umbrella. GF says the size when open suits her just right. Another press gathers the canopy, and she pushes the pole down to pack it away. Hopefully this one won't get lost.

Chad Macias

Will get plenty of use.

I wanted a plain blue umbrella with decent coverage, and this does suit. Pictures don't always give a clear idea of size, so I would look at the stated measurements too. This opens to about 105cm, which is enough for me. The blue is the solid colour I wanted and the frame feels quite substantial. Will get plenty of use.

Jeanette Fritz

Impressively solid and substantial umbrella.

Impressively solid and substantial umbrella. The flexible ribs feel reassuring when the rain comes with a bit of wind. There is some weight to it, and I shorten the stem manually after the button shuts the canopy, but neither bothers me. An excellent purchase overall

Warren Randall

Plenty for what we need and not too much to carry about either.

After a bad experience with our last umbrella in the wind, we wanted one that felt more substantial. We were very pleased when we opened this up, there is enough cover for my wife and me if we keep close together. It feels sturdy and is straightforward to handle, the opening button is handy too. Plenty for what we need and not too much to carry about either. Would definately consider another one if we ever need a replacement.
