Having lived in the desert before, I never used to think much about umbrellas. Now I appreciate a good one. This fits in my roomy purse and the automatic opening and canopy closing are genuinely useful. The ribs have some give rather than feeling rigid. On days I've forgotten it, I've ended up buying a basic umbrella and wrestling with the catch, trying to keep my fingers out of the way. That really makes me notice the smooth action on this one. It's a small convenience I appreciate.

good quality for the money, I'd buy it again!!!
A very useful umbrella for my daily walk to work. The car is over a mile away, so I need something that covers me and my backpack rather than just my head. This does that nicely. It's been fine in ordinary wind and still holds its shape. good quality for the money, I'd buy it again!!!

Recently got mine and it looks really smart.
Recently got mine and it looks really smart. Bigger when open than I had pictured, which is useful as I don't feel squeezed under it. The plain black looks attractive. Only drawback for me is the weight, I notice it in my purse more than I'd expected. Still happy with it and think it was worth the price.

The beige canopy is a nice shade.
The beige canopy is a nice shade. I like the oval handle too. However the black underside looks quite stark against the lighter outside, which makes it feel less elegant than I was hoping. It works perfectly well as an umbrella, just not quite the overall look I had in mind.
Kathleen Jefferson
The shaft feels sturdy and the whole thing looks smart.
Excellent cover for one person in the rain, with enough room that my shoulders aren't getting wet. The shaft feels sturdy and the whole thing looks smart. Haven't put it through really strong wind, but it has stayed steady in the lighter winds I've encountered. Button opening works beautifully and closing the canopy is simple too. The loop handle feels secure, nothing flimsy about it.

A purchase I'm glad I made!
I wanted an umbrella that felt worth hanging onto - not something I'd be replacing soon. This one feels properly made, and I've stayed dry in some pretty miserable rain. The flexible frame is reassuring (yes, I do notice these things :) and the handle is comfortable too.One small thing is that the blue fabric still needs a wipe now and then, especially after I've been carrying it around for ages. Nothing dramatic, just the usual marks that turn up with use.I wipe it gently and leave it open to dry, and it looks smart again. For something that folds up it feels substantial, not flimsy at all.A purchase I'm glad I made!

They arrived today and the build looks good.
They arrived today and the build looks good. Haven't been out in any rain or wind with them yet, so this is just first impressions. The canopy opens wider than I expected, room for two if you stay close.I'll add to this if the first wet outing changes my mind, but so far they seem very decent.
Martin Hayes
Yes, this is a strong umbrella.
Yes, this is a strong umbrella. I have another good one as well and they're both nice to have. For the price, though, I did expect it to feel substantial. I've used mine for a season now and the handle and ribs still feel really solid. It isn't the lightest thing to carry, but having the button is nice and I'm more interested in how it holds up than saving a bit of weight. I'll come back if anything changes.
Sally Beck
I'll add more if that changes.
Promising so far, although I've only had it out in ordinary rain and not a proper storm yet.I'll add more if that changes. It seems sturdily put together and is comfortable to carry for the coverage it gives, so I'm hopeful. Even folded it takes more space than I want in my everyday bag, which means it's one I'll carry when rain looks likely rather than leave in there all the time.Hoping it holds up!
Steve Mclean
The umbrella does feel solidly put together.
The umbrella does feel solidly put together. My problem is the amount of cover -- I really should have looked at what roughly 105cm across means instead of just assuming it would be plenty. Im six feet tall, and in a light shower today it kept my head and shoulders dry but my arms and trousers still caught rain. It isn't useless, just less shelter than I wanted. What bothers me as well is how much length is left when its folded. About 40cm doesn't sound much until you're putting it in a bag, and I expected a smaller bundle for the size when open. Another folding umbrella I have gives more cover and packs shorter, so this feels like an awkward compromise for me. The button works and there's nothing wrong with the construction, I just dont find the proportions very convenient. I've already got rid of the packaging, so it will probably stay as a spare. Someone shorter may get on with it better.

Survived a very wet, blustery week in Glasgow with no trouble.
Survived a very wet, blustery week in Glasgow with no trouble. There were a few walks where I was heading right into the gusts and wondered whether I'd regret taking a folding umbrella. It coped fine, and it's still the one I'm using. No complaints for the money - not some enormous storm umbrella, just a handy size with a decent feel to it. I'd buy another at a similar price. For something to have ready when the weather turns, I'm giving it five stars.

I've used this umbrella for about twenty-one months now and it's…
I've used this umbrella for about twenty-one months now and it's held up well. Afternoon rain is a regular thing where I live, so an umbrella doesn't spend much time sitting idle. Folded down, this one fits in the side compartment of my car without taking up much room. When opened there is enough cover to keep me reasonably dry, and it hasn't collapsed on me in windy rain. The opening mechanism still operates smoothly, which matters more to me than anything fancy. For an umbrella that stores so neatly, I'm satisfied with what it does. If I left it somewhere I'd be happy to replace it with the same one.

He lives in Florida, where the rain gives it plenty of use.
My boyfriend is a big college sports fan and blue is his favorite color, so I wanted an umbrella he'd enjoy carrying. I didn't want to pay a lot just for a team badge and was glad to find a plain blue one at a price I liked. He lives in Florida, where the rain gives it plenty of use. He keeps telling me what a useful gift it's been and takes it out regularly. Nice when something you pick for someone ends up being genuinely appreciated. Money well spent.

The button helps when you've got the baby and everything to carry.
My daughter has had her little umbrella since last year and it's still looking cute and working well. I decided it was time I had a decent one too, big enough to keep my purse and the baby under with me. The gray looks nice and the underneath is black, it's not a clear umbrella so I do have to hold it up where I can see ahead. I was worried a folding one would feel too flimsy but the fabric is quite substantial and it doesn't feel delicate. Tried it last week in our rainy June weather and we all got home dry. The button helps when you've got the baby and everything to carry. I let it stand open to dry out before folding it away, seems the sensible thing to do rather than put it away all damp.

I bought one for my boss, who does alot of travelling.
I bought one for my boss, who does alot of travelling. She likes being able to tuck it in her laptop bag without it taking over (some umbrellas are so bulky folded). Her elderly mother had a look and asked me to get one for her too, so that's two bought now. It will go into a fairly roomy purse as well. Both of them are happy with theirs and I'm thinking perhaps I should stop buying for everyone else and get my own :-)
Alison Tanner
My girl is happy using it, though!
The blue umbrella looks pretty, but folded size is bigger than I wanted...Too much room taken in my bag. I rearranged things so it lays along one side, and it fits fine there now. It opens easy, just wish it packed smaller... My girl is happy using it, though!

Only a few weeks of use so far, but it's been great!
Only a few weeks of use so far, but it's been great! The shade makes a noticeable difference on sunny days, and it's handled the rain I've been out in too. One gust turned it inside out and gave me a fright, but it went back to shape with no apparent harm. Still opening just fine.
Jay Medina
I've been well sheltered in heavier rain too.
You can feel the difference as soon as you pick this up — nothing flimsy about it. The opening action is smooth and the canopy has stayed put in the wind I've had so far. I've been well sheltered in heavier rain too. The green is a lovely straightforward colour, not shouty or fussy. It feels like something worth looking after rather than an umbrella I'd use a few times and forget about. Nice to have a rainy day essential that feels properly made
Frances Braun
For the quality, I think the price is well worth it!
The pink is bright and cheerful, and the whole umbrella feels nicely put together. Nothing about the fabric seems flimsy, and the opening action is smooth. I gave several as Christmas presents and everyone liked how they looked and felt. For the quality, I think the price is well worth it!
Daryl Perry
An attractive umbrella and the construction seems good to me.
An attractive umbrella and the construction seems good to me. I've used it in ordinary rain with a bit of a breeze, but can't say how it would behave in really rough weather. There's enough coverage for me and it folds to a handy size. It's smaller than a full golf umbrella, which is actually what I wanted.
Terrance Buck
Looks nice without being over the top, and feels solid too.
Our previous umbrella was taken away at a game, so we needed another. I hadn't paid much attention to the size and was surprised how much it opens out from the folded shape. Looks nice without being over the top, and feels solid too. A really good replacement that I'd happily buy again!
Seth Giles
I like it, but love?
Four stars is about as emotional as I'm willing to get over something that stops rain. I like it, but love? Let's not get carried away. It's compact, feels properly made and the button does what I need without fuss. The pink is a cheerful choice, too. If you're spending ages comparing umbrellas, there are probably better uses of an evening. This one will do nicely.
Ashley Decker
btw, it opens out WIDE!!
-GOOD-The fabric feels decent and the frame seems strong, i held it at different angles and moved it about in the rain, it stayed the right way round. btw, it opens out WIDE!! more room than i expected from the folded umbrella, which is fine for me.-LESS GOOD-getting it all tidy in the sleeve needs a bit of patience, i have to smooth the folds rather than just shove it in. not a big issue, but it isn't the quickest part.

This umbrella has been brilliant for dog walks.
This umbrella has been brilliant for dog walks. I've stayed dry through some proper downpours and there's even room for most of the dog under it with me. My only small adjustment was remembering that the button draws the canopy in but I still have to push the shaft down. Once I had that clear it was straightforward. Would certainly recommend it.
Latasha Clements
Excellent umbrella for the money.
Excellent umbrella for the money. Rain in Brooklyn often comes with wind, so I need more than something that only looks nice when it's opened. This one has kept its shape in the gusts I've encountered and kept the rain off me too. Feels much more dependable than the flimsy umbrellas I've had before. Would DEF recommend it.
Chris Marks
I liked how solid it felt, though I help with the button and folding.
My youngest grandson kept wanting his own umbrella, so this was his fifth birthday present. I liked how solid it felt, though I help with the button and folding. My daughter tells me he wanted to carry it about even with SNOW on the ground! Now we are waiting for some spring rain so he can actually try it out!

First outing only, but it was proper heavy rain with a few gusts.
First outing only, but it was proper heavy rain with a few gusts. I stayed dry and didn't have to fight the umbrella at all.It seems really solid. Usually a bit of wind has me expecting the whole thing to turn over, this time I could just get on with walking.Opening was straightforward and no trapped fingers. Closing the canopy takes a button press, then I pushed the pole back in to put it away. The open size suits me. My shoulders were covered without feeling like I was taking up the entire pavement. Still had a clear view ahead by holding it at a sensible height. For moms with a baby carried against them, I think there is enough room to shelter both of you too.It looks smart and doesn't become an awkward long thing to carry afterwards. One use isn't years of testing of course, but I'm delighted with it so far and would happily have another.
Derek Leonard
A happy little umbrella owner!
An instant hit with my son. It gives him a good amount of cover without being one of those enormous umbrellas. He has figured out the button for opening and bringing the canopy down, then pushes the shaft in himself. The loop handle is his favourite part, easy to hold onto. Handy to put away in its sleeve too. A happy little umbrella owner!
Nicole Bowman
IT DOES HAVE SOME WEIGHT.
I teach and am outside with the children very often. The sun is not for me. This umbrella has blue on the outside and black inside, and gives me a good patch of shadow to stand under. IT DOES HAVE SOME WEIGHT. I also got one for my wife who teaches too, but she doesn't use hers much because she finds it heavy. For me it is no problem and I am happy having it with me outside.
Jimmy Wilson
I'm happy to give this five stars !
Reviewing the gray folding umbrellaI liked mine enough to buy others as presents. My husband finds it funny how much thought I put into choosing gray things, even an umbrella. Seeing it opened up was better than looking at the picture, and it feels nicely made........not flimsy at all. Opening it is simple too, which makes it a useful present. For the money I feel I've done well.I'm happy to give this five stars ! Glad I chose it !

What a good umbrella!
What a good umbrella! I looked at what I paid and then at the umbrella again, because honestly it seems better than the price would suggest. One button sends the canopy up, another press gathers it in, and you finish by pushing the telescoping shaft down yourself. So don't stand there waiting for the whole thing to shrink! About 105cm across when open and 40cm packed away. There are 30 flexible ribs under there, which looks quite impressive when you actually stop to count. Mine opens neatly, everything sits where it should, and it doesn't feel like something bought just to get through one shower. Water the tree, admire the umbrella, apparently that is my routine now. In short, I would still be pleased without a bargain to talk about. A sensible purchase that has made me far more excited than an umbrella ought to! Recommended. That's that.

I went looking for a dependable umbrella ahead of my Europe trip.
I went looking for a dependable umbrella ahead of my Europe trip. Between the rain in Berlin and in Rome, it certainly got used. I would have liked it to take up a little less space when folded, but it feels sturdy enough that I don't mind carrying it. For the money, I'm glad I chose this one.
Ralph Mercado
For keeping the rain off, I can't fault it.
For keeping the rain off, I can't fault it. It's handled a few gusty spells without much fuss and looks smart too. My gripe is fitting it in my golf bag. Even folded, it's too chunky for the umbrella slot on mine. I assumed a compact one would slide in there, but apparently not. So I carry it separately instead. Aside from that, a very useful umbrella!
Francisco Koch
The button is handy and the whole thing seems nicely put together.
I've gone through a fair number of folding umbrellas over the years. The really tiny ones usually ended up bent or turned inside out before I had much use from them. This one takes up more space when folded, but the open canopy gives me proper coverage rather than just keeping the top of my head dry. it is around 40cm long packed away, so I wouldn't choose it for a very small handbag. There is some extra weight, which I don't mind for something that seems solid and has coped well with rain and breezy weather so far. The button is handy and the whole thing seems nicely put together. For me the extra room it needs is a fair trade for the protection. I intend to bring it along when I travel.
Manuel Watson
It looks good but isn't just for looks, feels properly sturdy too.
Made it to work and back in chicago rain and wind with hardly any damp on me. It looks good but isn't just for looks, feels properly sturdy too. I've used umbrellas that turned into a wrestling match outside, this one was easy to manage. The quick opening is another thing I really like!
Mike Avery
I'd recommend it.
I wanted an umbrella for the frequent wet weather here in Central Florida, and this has had a fair amount of use already. Some of those showers have been gusty, but so far it has done its job. The frame has a bit of give when the wind catches it, which I prefer to something that feels completely rigid. It has also spent plenty of time being thrown onto the back seat of the car, so it hasn't exactly been pampered. The stitching still looks tidy and the fabric is secure on the ribs. Opening it is smooth, and overall it seems a much more substantial umbrella than the ones I used to grab in a hurry. Not a luxury purchase, just a solid, reasonably priced one.I'd recommend it.
Natasha Wiggins
No complaints from me about this little umbie.
No complaints from me about this little umbie. It's been useful in Boston's wet weather and those Miami downpours. It's a folding umbrella, not a huge one, so I don't expect it to cover everything. In really heavy weather I wear a raincoat too and let this keep the extra rain off me and my purse. Slips into my bag nicely (not one of those bags with my whole house in it...) and has served me well.
Beth Herman
This one has been excellent for me.
I don't know what people expect an umbrella to do about wet trousers or shoes. Rain doesn't politely fall straight down every time. If you want every inch covered you need more than an umbrella, simple as that. This one has been excellent for me. I'm getting another two because the family keep borrowing mine and I would like a turn with it myself. My only gripe is keeping a firm hold when a gust catches it, but the canopy has stayed in shape so far. In normal wet weather it has been a really good umbrella.
Albert Mckinney
That is good.
Before taking it out, I would spend a minute getting familiar with the closing action. The button draws the canopy closed, but you then shorten the telescoping shaft yourself. Not difficult, just something worth knowing before you are standing beside a car with it. The cream white fabric has a black underside. It feels substantial, though the canopy wasn't stretched quite as tightly as I had imagined it would be. I wondered whether repeated folding would eventually leave it looking loose. Otherwise, the construction seems very sound.
Folded, it is approximately 40cm long. Compact, but not something I would put in a coat pocket. The handle forms a closed oval loop, rather than having an open hooked end. There are 30 flexible ribs, which look rather crowded together when you look up into it. The shaft slides down into itself for storage. At roughly 390g, there is a noticeable amount of umbrella here, without it being particularly heavy to hold. Across the open canopy it measures about 105cm. Standing beneath it, I have cover beyond both shoulders, rather than just directly above my head. That is good.
UPDATE, ONE YEAR LATER: Still intact after more than a year. I reach for a larger umbrella more often now, so this one has had periods of sitting folded in the car between uses. The fabric unfolds normally and my early concern about it becoming slack hasn't amounted to anything. It still looks evenly supported when open. I also no longer have to think about the closing sequence: press the button, then compress the stem. The sleeve is useful for keeping the folded bundle together once it is dry. So, fairly substantial for a compact umbrella, and it has held up well.

the pictures were a good guide-- relief!
the pictures were a good guide-- relief! the gray is really pretty, ALMOST silver looking in some light but still a proper gray. looks nice. i made a fuss of opening it at first because i was trying to do it all by hand-- pressing the button was what i should of done. once i figured that out it was easy. closing means another press for the canopy then pushing the stem down, not trying to squash it all together. it will work for actual rain too, which is handy even though i mostly wanted it for pictures. overall i am really pleased, just the look i was hoping for for the wedding pictures this august in FL! can't wait!

We picked up two for our girls to use for school.
We picked up two for our girls to use for school. They are a sensible size for them, with enough cover when open and not too much to carry afterwards. Both girls have found the button straightforward to use. The part that keeps it at four stars for me is putting it all neatly away again. The canopy closes at a press, but the pole still needs pushing in and the fabric needs arranging if you want a tidy bundle again. It isn't a big problem, just a little more fiddly than I would like when we're trying to get going.
Becky Bush
I handle opening it and packing it away for her.
My three and a half year old had been asking for an umbrella for ages. I was more concerned about how it was put together than having a novelty design. This feels nicely finished and she thinks it looks lovely. I handle opening it and packing it away for her. She likes sitting underneath with her stuffed animals as well, and it's been fine for that.
Ivan Peck
I find it quite easy to hold.
The umbrella arrived yesterday and I spent a little time looking it over once I had taken it out. My first impression was that both the finish and the overall appearance were quite good. The gray is a pleasant, fairly understated colour. There is a carry sleeve supplied with it, and that also looks neatly made rather than being something I would immediately put aside. It holds everything together nicely when the umbrella is put away.
The handle is an enclosed oval loop, which is a different shape from the handles on my previous folding umbrellas. I find it quite easy to hold. The control button is easy enough to find without having to look around for it. A press opens the umbrella, and another press folds the canopy down. You then compress the telescoping shaft by hand to put it away. I tried this a few times and the operation was smooth each time.
Looking underneath, the supporting ribs seem well arranged and have some flexibility to them. It does not give me that rather flimsy impression that some compact umbrellas have given me. The black underside looks tidy too. Once fully open, the cover is a respectable size. Folded up it is convenient to carry, but opened out it is not a tiny cover that leaves your shoulders exposed. Two people might manage to share it if necessary, although I would regard it more as a good size for one person.
At this stage I am satisfied with what I have bought and would consider buying it again. My first look is only that, of course, as I had not yet taken it into any bad weather. I wanted to see how it behaved outside before saying much more about that.
An update after using it today: there was light rain and a bit of a breeze. Nothing troublesome happened with the canopy in those conditions, and the rain stayed off me as it should. I cannot speak for anything more severe, but for this use it did fine. It folds back down to a manageable size and is easy to keep nearby for when the weather changes.
Gabriela Shields
The look of this umbrella really appeals to me.
The look of this umbrella really appeals to me. And it feels properly made. I've had little umbrellas that were awkward to operate. Here the button opens it promptly and closes the canopy again, then I press the shaft down. Costs a bit more than I'd usually pay but I think it was worth it!
Melissa Guerrero
She's already had fun with it in both sorts of weather.
For her third birthday my granddaughter had asked for a pink umbrella, so this was an easy choice. She was thrilled with the colour and I thought it looked very pretty without being fussy. It's a proper umbrella, so I help her with the button and folding it away, but she enjoys holding it with me beside her. There was rain that evening and of course she wanted to go straight out to try it. Then when the sun came out a few days later she wanted it for shade too. She's already had fun with it in both sorts of weather. It feels nicely made and I hope she'll have it for a long time.

Bigger than I usually expect from a compact umbrella.
Bigger than I usually expect from a compact umbrella. No really windy weather to judge it by yet, but it's been good so far. The ribs seem more substantial than on previous ones I've owned. The button opening and canopy closing are useful. My one gripe is getting the strap fastened again afterwards. It takes quite a pull to bring the ends together around the folded umbrella, and I worry about putting too much pressure on a rib while doing that. A little more room in the strap would have helped.
Allen Taylor
Certainly not golf umbrella coverage, but enough for me in the rain.
The beige appealed to me because it looked a little different. For what it cost i had pictured a warmer, richer shade, although it is still nice. It was packed neatly when it arrived. I'm petite, about 5'1, and the open size suits me well. Certainly not golf umbrella coverage, but enough for me in the rain. The button works smoothly and it folds down to a sensible carrying size.

Ordered this for husband during our FL vacation..
Ordered this for husband during our FL vacation.. He uses an umbrella for shade after skin cancer, often while sitting watching sports...we (family) figured this one looked suitably "macho". :) :) Quality seems good, with plenty of room for him underneath, and it folds into something more manageable to carry afterwards. A useful present, and one he was very glad to receive.

Bought this to keep in my commuter backpack after getting fed up…
Bought this to keep in my commuter backpack after getting fed up with the flimsy little umbrellas I used before. Coming off the train the other day I walked straight into a proper downpour, and had it up in seconds. It gave me good cover on the walk and felt steady enough even with the wind getting under it. Much nicer than fighting with an umbrella that feels like it is barely there. The button for opening it and drawing the canopy closed is a feature I appreciate.
Garrett Gross
She was delighted when she saw it.
For my granddaughter's third birthday, the request was an umbrella in beige, so this was an easy choice. She was delighted when she saw it. I liked the simple appearance and the way the canopy opens at a button press, although I help her with putting it away since this is a proper handheld umbrella rather than a tiny toy. That first evening it rained and she was determined to take it outside, so we tried it together. Then a few sunny days later she wanted to use it as a parasol too. It has already had both kinds of outing, and I think it will be useful for a long time as she grows.
