Very happy with it.

I can't get over how much nicer this is than juggling an umbrella with my little one trying to squeeze under it. We used to trip over each other and I'd end up wet. First outing was a proper DOWNPOUR and, with my child tucked in beside me, we both stayed dry! It isn't weightless, so that is worth knowing, but the cover is good for us close together. The blue outside is cheerful, even though it's plain black underneath. Very happy with it.

Quite elegant without being fussy.

I was looking for an umbrella with a bit of character, not just something functional, and this has that. The finish is lovely and it feels carefully put together when you handle it. Opening is smooth and fairly quiet, with a reassuring frame. It wasn't cheap, but I can see myself carrying it for years. Quite elegant without being fussy.

This has been a good change.

After going through several umbrellas that were more about appearance than usefulness, I wanted something I could actually rely on in wet weather. This has been a good change. It gives me plenty of cover on my own, and doesn't take up the space a full length umbrella does once it's folded. The oval handle gives my hand a secure hold, which I appreciate when the wind picks up. It has kept its shape on the rainy, windy days I've used it, and the folded size means I actually take it along. This feels like an umbrella to use, not just admire! My one small quibble is that the overall look is more practical than dressy. Still, keeping dry matters more to me than looking elegant.

Candace Holmes

Has dealt with windy rain very nicely.

Dad and I each got one for our travels. Feels solid. Properly put together. Has dealt with windy rain very nicely. Folded up, it stays right beside me like an extra traveling companion. Funny to get attached to an umbrella, but I feel better prepared with it along. A quality item.

I was delighted when I unpacked this umbrella.

I was delighted when I unpacked this umbrella. It has a really elegant look, and feels a little more special than the ordinary umbrellas I normally buy. I hadn't expected to enjoy the appearance of an umbrella quite so much. For someone wanting something both useful and attractive, I think paying a bit extra for this is worthwhile.

Jaclyn Benton

I'm glad I did.

After far too much comparing umbrellas, I chose this one on the strength of the reviews. I'm glad I did. It was packed carefully and the handle and mechanism both feel solid rather than flimsy. The overall look is simple and quite classic, which I appreciate. My wife and I have shared it in rain, though we do need to stay close together. Based on my experience so far, I would certainly recommend this umbrella.

Looks good as well, which doesn't hurt.

Living in New England, I wanted to give this a proper try when the weather turned nasty. And I mean WINDY, not just a little flutter. Rain coming in sideways will still find you, but the canopy kept its shape and I wasn't fighting to hold onto it. That was a big improvement for me. It cost more than I usually spend on an umbrella, sure, but it feels substantial rather than disposable. Looks good as well, which doesn't hurt. The button is handy when it's time to get indoors quickly. I'm glad I spent a bit extra on something I actually enjoy using. What more do I need on a wet day?

Daniel Barnett

The green wasn't quite what I had pictured.

The green wasn't quite what I had pictured. A bit annoying. Price + color were why I chose it, so that mattered to me more than it probably should... After seeing it properly I got used to the shade and don't mind it now. The umbrella itself is light enough for me and has kept me dry in the rain. I'm keeping it, it works fine even if my first reaction wasn't very enthusiastic.

Donald Bryan

This one has been really good.

I wanted more coverage after finding my smaller umbrella cramped when two people tried to share. This one has been really good. Two of us still need to stand close, but by myself there's plenty of space over my shoulders. It has already been through several summer rainstorms and feels reassuringly solid, not like something that's going to flop about in your hand. The frame and fabric both seem well put together. I also appreciate that it folds down rather than leaving me carrying a long umbrella everywhere. I'd recommend it for someone who wants comfortable cover for one, with enough room for another person to tuck in when necessary.

SO PLEASED WITH HOW THESE WORKED OUT.

I got these green umbrellas as props for my daughter's themed dance performance...They looked lovely once everyone was on stage. The green showed up really nicely under the lights and suited the dance so well. We opened and closed them over and over at practices, the frames still felt solid and they looked just as nice for the show....Had lots of lovely comments from people watching...SO PLEASED WITH HOW THESE WORKED OUT.

I'm pleased with my choice.

I've carried umbrellas for years and knew what sort I wanted. Finding one with both automatic opening and canopy closing in the shops proved surprisingly difficult. This has the features I was after and is a convenient size to take along. I'm pleased with my choice.

Frances Leblanc

Opened up it is a generous size without feeling too heavy!

The Cream White colour is so pretty, a softer look than I expected and very nice when the umbrella is open. There is an oval loop forming the handle, something I hadn't really paid attention to in the pictures, and I like that detail quite a lot. The canopy looks neatly finished rather than cheap, and the ribs feel nicely secured. Opened up it is a generous size without feeling too heavy! I also like the sleeve, which feels properly made and not just an afterthought. My one reservation, and what keeps it at four stars, is putting it away. The button closes the canopy perfectly well, but the telescoping part still needs to be pressed down manually. That is how it works, not a fault, though I find that last push a bit awkward. For something I intend to use often it is a small inconvenience. Perhaps I'll get more used to the movement with practice. Once it is shortened and the fabric is wrapped neatly, getting the sleeve on is straightforward. Taking a moment to straighten the folds makes a difference. All in all I am delighted with how it looks. It has a rather dreamy appearance in this colour. A slightly easier final push when packing it away would make it just right for me.

Nathan Everett

The weight is quite manageable compared with others I've carried.

Picked this up for a special trip and have since used it in different weather. Handy to tuck into my carry-on, with enough canopy over me for rain or some shade. The weight is quite manageable compared with others I've carried. It has also stayed the right way out on windy days.

Manuel Terrell

A few months on, this has been useful.

A few months on, this has been useful. Not a burden to carry. I live in Southern California and with weeks of very hot weather, having some shade over me makes a difference. It isn't exactly a glamorous look walking about under an umbrella, but it works. I also took it to England and Scotland, where it handled the rain nicely. For something that folds up, it's been very practical. I'm planning to buy another one for my mother.

Renee Hopkins

It looks good as well.

I've been carrying this umbrella for about two years, and overall it has been a good one. It doesn't feel too heavy for a folding automatic and the size works well for me. I've used it in drizzle and some much heavier rain, and it feels fairly steady to hold. My one reservation is the coverage when rain starts coming in sideways. The canopy does its part overhead, but my shoulders can still get damp unless I keep adjusting the angle. Not talking about getting soaked, just those annoying splashes when you thought you were covered. In everyday rain this isn't an issue, and I like how easily it opens when needed. It looks good as well. I would still choose it again, I just wouldn't expect a compact umbrella to cover every angle.

Marco Bradley

Another umbrella gone missing (where do they all end up!

Another umbrella gone missing (where do they all end up!) so I went hunting online. This folding one turned out to be a lovely replacement. It feels solid and is comfortable to carry - now I'm wondering whether putting my name inside might help it find its way home next time! Worth getting.

Rebekah Mullins

For what I needed, it has been wonderful.

Warm weather has only just started and already I'm struggling with the heat. I don't tolerate it well at all, so having some shade with me makes a difference. I spent ages deciding whether I wanted something mostly for looks or something I could actually put in my purse, and I'm glad I went with this one. I've had it out in sunshine with a little breeze and I feel much more comfortable standing underneath it. For staying close to the house I might still want something larger, but for taking along this is a sensible size. I haven't tested it in serious wind so I can't say much about that part.I would probably make the black a little more interesting if I could, just because I tend to like things that are "pretty" rather than plain. It isn't a fancy looking umbrella, but the plain finish bothers me much less once I'm outside using it. For what I needed, it has been wonderful.

Carol Watkins

Yep, happy with it.

Yep, happy with it. Caught a gust on its first outing and the canopy flipped, but I pushed it back and carried on without any damage. I need decent coverage for work, not a long umbrella to lug everywhere. This folds down nicely while still giving me enough room underneath. A good choice for me.

Noah Briggs

This umbrella has made a big difference.

Walking to work is new for me (it's only about eight minutes) and I also walk out and back at lunchtime, which was leaving me damp all day when it rained. This umbrella has made a big difference. It covers me well and even keeps my tote tucked out of the rain, so I'm not bringing a wet bag into the office either. Seems very sturdy when it's up, and I would certainly tell someone else to get one.

Donald Walton

Surprisingly short when folded considering how much cover it gives.

Surprisingly short when folded considering how much cover it gives. My previous umbrella stuck out of my backpack and was awkward to bring along, whereas this one fits inside with space left over. The frame and fabric seem well put together. I haven't used it enough yet to judge how it will wear over time.

Wyatt Osborn

A folding umbrella that really suits me.

A folding umbrella that really suits me. Opening is quick & effortless with the button; closing is the usual arrangement, i.e., the canopy folds in automatically and you finish by pressing the telescoping pole down yourself.Nothing complicated once you've done it. The pink is so cheerful ... makes heading out in dull wet weather feel a bit less dreary.

Kelli Lopez

This umbrella is one I don't feel the need to mess about with!

Finding everyday things that appeal to my slightly steampunk taste isn't easy. Usually I end up modifying something plain, or making my own version. This umbrella is one I don't feel the need to mess about with! It's simple and the closed oval loop handle gives it a little more character than the usual sort. It provides welcome shade when the sun bothers me and keeps me dry when rain arrives. Friends have admired it too. Useful without being boring, and I genuinely look forward to taking it out!

Gabriella Finley

Rainy days are a bit less dull with this green unbrella.

Rainy days are a bit less dull with this green unbrella. Saw one in a shop while away and left without it, then was delighted to find it online later. There's always something I wish I'd picked up! One press and it springs out, so watch that button when you're still sitting in the car...oops. Press again to fold the canopy, then push the shaft down.

Pamela Hopkins

A smart umbrella with more substance than I expected.

A smart umbrella with more substance than I expected. It is heavier than the flimsy ones I've used, but not excessively so - simply reassuring to carry. There are several thoughtful details. The closed oval handle gives my fingers a secure place to grip and is pleasant in the hand. The button raises the canopy and draws it together again, without having to work little metal catches directly. Shortening the telescopic section afterwards does need a manual push, something worth knowing if hand strength is limited. For sensitive fingers, I appreciate the straightforward control, although of course everyone's hands are different. It opens into a useful area of cover without being a huge long umbrella to carry once folded. This Oregonian expects to get plenty of use from it on rainy walks.

Colin Shaw

Good handle to hold.

Man, this feels light. Nicely put together..the ribs have some give. Good handle to hold. One button, nothing much to figure out. Plain sleeve for carrying it round. Cream white outside and black underneath. I got it for shade, and the canopy DOES make standing in the sun nicer. Can't say much about rain yet, haven't had the chance. Not pretending it's total darkness underneath, either. For what I wanted it's doing fine.If it holds up..this could be my favourite umbrella I've EVER owned.

Shane Barry

I use an umbrella often, so those little things do matter to me.

I don't tolerate direct sun very well, so I pay attention to how useful an umbrella is for shade. This gives me a decent amount, although I'd appreciate a wider canopy when the sun is low. Also, it feels a bit substantial to carry around for long periods. I use an umbrella often, so those little things do matter to me.For everyday use though, there's plenty to like. It opens quickly, feels reasonably sturdy and has been useful in the rain as well. I wouldn't regard it as complete protection from sunshine coming in at every angle. As a portable patch of shade, it's good, just not quite ideal for my needs.

Ralph Adkins

The umbrella it's self has a nice solid feel, not cheap at all.

Received this as a present last week and you can tell it's a decent umbrella. Everything was well packed and arrived in good condition. The umbrella it's self has a nice solid feel, not cheap at all. A good quality one can be surprisingly hard to find. This is a great product.

Brad Hardin

Apart from that, I'm happy with how it looks and works.

I've wanted an umbrella in this style for a long time and finally bought one. A useful size without feeling oversized. The only thing I'd change is the black underside, which makes the space above me look rather dark. Apart from that, I'm happy with how it looks and works.

Ruth Colon

A lovely looking umbrella with a reassuringly solid frame.

A lovely looking umbrella with a reassuringly solid frame. I spent ages trying to find something better than the last one, which didn't last long at all. This has been doing well so far. More than I usually spend, but I'd rather pay a bit extra for something that holds up

Adrienne Krause

The sleeve is nice for storage/carrying.

I have a full-size umbrella as well, and this one is for putting in my backpack. I still def prefer the bigger one when I know I'll be out in rain. This is a better shape for carrying around, but I don't need an umbrella with me 24/7. The sleeve is nice for storage/carrying.It doesn't feel quite as substantial as a full-length one, though it's been fine in use. Giving it 4 because it's a useful compact option, just not something I'd choose instead of a big umbrella every time.

Emma Fernandez

It has done a good job in the rain as well.

Having some shade with me on the golf course has made the hot days much more pleasant. I wasn't sure a handheld umbrella would make much difference, but standing underneath it is noticeably more comfortable than being out in the sun. It's like finding a shady spot while waiting between shots. A very welcome bit of relief. It has done a good job in the rain as well.

Bryce Ritter

Sent this to my daughter in NY...

Sent this to my daughter in NY...I wasn't sure about cream white, thought it might look too plain....but NO, so pretty in person!!!! She was delighted and I was glad I hadn't chosen something she wouldn't use. Easy button and folds up nicely for her to take along!!!!! That colour was a much better choice than I expected!!!!!!

Abigail Watkins

Does what I need in the rain.

Does what I need in the rain. Button opening and canopy closing make doorways less of a struggle. You still press the stem in yourself afterwards. Folded, it goes in my backpack or bigger bag without trouble. Opened out, there's useful cover for me and someone standing close alongside.

Steven Walton

I'd be quite happy choosing the same one again.

Eight months of use in New York rain and wind has made me appreciate this umbrella. The weather gives it a fair workout, so I wasn't expecting something compact to be much good for long. It's proved a useful thing to have around and I'm very satisfied with what I paid. I'd be quite happy choosing the same one again.

Nancy Mooney

Very handy little thing.

It takes up little room in my laptop bag, yet gives me plenty of cover outside.I leave it there so I don't have to remember it every morning. Off with the sleeve, undo the strap, hit the button and WHOOSH, it's ready! Coming back indoors is even better. Another press folds the canopy so I can shake it off without wrestling with wet fabric. Then I push the shaft back down by hand and put it away, all set for the next surprise downpour. Very handy little thing.

Nina Key

Push-button opening is handy too.

If you want a folding umbrella with a decent amount of cover, this is worth considering. The green cheers up a wet day. Push-button opening is handy too. It is still an umbrella you need to hang onto when gusts catch it, so don't expect it to make windy walks effortless. And give people some space on a busy pavement - compact when folded doesn't mean tiny once you've put it up.

James Delacruz

A good amount of cover without carrying a giant umbrella!

A good amount of cover without carrying a giant umbrella! I have room underneath and it doesn't weigh my arm down. The button opens it very quickly--give it some space before pressing! To put it away I press again to fold the canopy, then shorten the stem with a firm push. Nothing difficult. It has been useful for sunshine as well as showers. The children even borrow it for their backyard picnics and prop it beside them for shade. (Their idea of a picnic shelter, apparently!)Feels well put together and I can see this being around for quite a while.

Johnathan Weiss

For the money it seems like a good sturdy umbrella.

Fairly light to carry and the build feels sturdy. It opens easily and closing the canopy is easy too, though you still need to push the shaft down yourself. The handle is comfortable enough, but an extra half inch would suit me better. I wear medium or large gloves. My index finger has to sit above the grip and there's space for the middle and ring fingers, not really my pinky. For the money it seems like a good sturdy umbrella. My smaller one turns inside out pretty easily, so this feels like an improvement.

Laurie Stone

A handy umbrella to have around.

A handy umbrella to have around. The sleeve is useful for putting it away, though it feels fairly light, so I'm curious how it will stand up to regular use. The umbrella itself feels nicely put together and the ribs look well supported. The oval handle is a different shape from what I'm used to, but comfortable enough to hold. I also appreciate the button when I need it open quickly. Obviously I haven't owned it long enough to say how many seasons I'll get out of it, but the first impression is good. For what I paid I'm pleased with this purchase!

Paul Shaffer

The storm had passed but we still had rain and some wind.

The storm had passed but we still had rain and some wind. No power in the neighborhood and my son wanted to look round the backyard for damage, so he took my new umbrella. Came back saying "Mom, this umbrella's good!" Kept him dry and felt strong. A bit bigger folded than I thought, but glad we had it!

Dale Cummings

What a handy umbrella!

What a handy umbrella! Packs away for carrying, yet opened up there's enough room for a friend to squeeze alongside me!I'm a grad student with books and everything else to carry, so being able to pop it open quickly has helped more than once. Looks good and feels dependable.

Gabriel Page

Nearly everything I wanted in an umbrella.

Nearly everything I wanted in an umbrella. Portable, smart enough, and the button handles BOTH opening and pulling the canopy closed. It has felt sturdy in everyday rain, although I wouldn't choose a compact umbrella for a real storm. That does leave some weather unaccounted for. Still, I'd buy it again because it is unobtrusive enough that I actually remember to take it... which is half the battle for me.

Gregory Avery

Smart looking, feels well made and I love using it!

One of those buys that makes me wonder why I waited so long. It reminds me of the umbrella I carried as a teenager, except this one folds down a lot smaller. There is a decent amount of cover overhead and the material doesn't have that flimsy feeling. The ribs seem flexible rather than brittle and it has felt steady in the rain I've used it in. No fiddling about trying to get it open, just a press and it's up. Smart looking, feels well made and I love using it!

Susan Mason

i'm enjoying this umbrella.

i'm enjoying this umbrella. Saw a few comments worrying about how light it was, etc.. but carrying something heavy isn't what i wanted. Its comfortable to take along and after several rainy days i have stayed nice and dry underneath it! I wouldn't bring it out in really wild wind ( i wouldn't risk any umbrella then). For normal rain it has done just what i needed, and i don't feel like i'm hauling something huge around all day. So glad i chose it!!!!!!!!!! looks cute as well! i would definately tell someone to try this one!

" "I like the handle on that.

On my last wet commute home--only a few days ago--four different people found something to say about this umbrella. Not something that normally happens with an umbrella, at least not to me. "That looks handy." "I like the handle on that." "Where can I find one?" One person wanted to know whether it really folded up. Apparently an ordinary useful object can still attract a little attention. There was much the same interest when I first brought it into work. I left it beside my desk and colleagues kept picking it up, looking at the loop handle, and asking about the button. Naturally somebody had to open it. Then somebody else wanted a turn. You would think we had never seen rain before. The automatic opening is genuinely convenient, though, rather than just something to demonstrate around the office. For one person it is a very comfortable amount of cover. My wife and I have also shared it walking together, close enough that neither of us was trying to occupy a separate pavement. It isn't a family-sized shelter, but we can manage a walk together instead of each wrestling with an umbrella and bumping the edges. Carrying it has been less of a bother than I anticipated. Folded, it is substantial enough that I know where it is, without being a long stick that I keep having to move out of everybody's way. The handle gives me somewhere comfortable to hold it, too. Those are small things until you are carrying something all the way home. My wife has one as well, and has bought the same umbrella for a couple of close friends. She pays attention to how things look; I tend to notice whether my shirt is getting wet. So having both of us approve of the same everyday object is worth mentioning. I've used mine regularly for over a year now. There are a few little marks from being carried about, but it still opens neatly and the fabric and ribs look good. I've owned heavier umbrellas, and the extra weight never seemed to buy me anything useful on an ordinary rainy journey. This one strikes a much better balance for me. The black is also suitably unremarkable, in a good way. I can take it to work dressed properly or carry it with jeans without feeling as though I've brought sporting equipment along. Nothing about it demands a particular outfit. I couldn't tell you how much hand work goes into making an umbrella. What I can see is that the fabric sits neatly and the various parts look properly put together. That matters more to me than an elaborate description on a box. BOTTOM LINE: When the day comes that I need to replace this one, I would happily buy the same umbrella again.

looks just like the listing pictures-- relief!

looks just like the listing pictures-- relief! the gray has a really nice soft look, ALMOST silver when the light hits it, but still gray not shiny. very pretty. first go i was fumbling with the button and wondering what i was doing wrong-- turns out i just needed to get used to it. opens up easily now and the canopy closes with the button too, then i press the pole in myself. not a fancy lace photo umbrella, its an actual rain one which is fine by me. i mostly wanted it for wedding photos in august in FL and the simple shape looks really nice. havnt done the photos yet but i am pleased with how it looks and feels. exactly the sort of thing i had in mind, yay!

Sue Novak

Ready for rainy game days!!!

Ready for rainy game days!!! Great umbrella - green is our side's colour and this one comes along with me! Not the biggest we own, but enough shelter for me without dragging something huge to the seats... hubby follows our rivals, so he can bring his own. LOL - we can sit side-by-side and still disagree about everything except staying dry!

Gabriel Lester

I'd happily recommend it!

For keeping the rain off without carrying a huge long umbrella, this has been ideal. The coverage is good, and two of us can get close underneath when needed. I've been using it for roughly four weeks through the wet and windy weather and so far it has stayed firm and kept me dry. At this price, with a size I can actually take along... I'd happily recommend it!

Tanya Wells

There's some weight to carry, so I wouldn't call it featherlight.

An umbrella doesn't give you an endless list of things to discuss, does it (grin). Still, this one earns a few words. Folded away it is easy to find space for, yet opened up it feels like an actual substantial umbrella rather than an emergency scrap of fabric. I am six feet tall and not exactly narrow across the middle (ahem), and the coverage is perfectly adequate for me. The frame has a bit of give when the wind catches it, which I appreciate. There's some weight to carry, so I wouldn't call it featherlight. But for something I can put in a bag and forget until rain starts, it makes a very useful companion!

Mia Bullock

it works for the rain as well

hey everyone i really like this umbrella i found mine at the fair in washington that i visit every year and it was so hot walking around that i wanted something for shade and this one was just right for that the black is my favorite because it goes with everything and i didn't feel like i was carrying anything too fancy! :D i can use it on my regular walks too and then fold it back down when i don't need it so its not just something for special outings!PS. it works for the rain as well
