Seems light in use but not flimsy. Went out last night with a couple friends and we ended up in wind and rain, mine did a good job. I enjoy how it springs open with a button :). The oval handle is comfortable to carry also. A bit longer folded than what I had before, though it still comes along with me.

This gives the coverage, but there's some weight to it.
I wanted a wider canopy after a narrower umbrella left me soaked the other day. This gives the coverage, but there's some weight to it. I suppose that goes with a more substantial umbrella, which is what I wanted. It'll only come on trips when rain seems pretty likely. A little heavier than I'd prefer.
Herbert Gamble
Never thought I'd be someone who had a preferred umbrella, but…
Never thought I'd be someone who had a preferred umbrella, but here we are. I've lost plenty to windy weather in the past, and although this hasn't faced the very worst of that yet, the frame feels much more substantial. I wasn't sure about the oval loop handle, thought it might be an unnecessary bit of design, but it actually sits comfortably in my hand. Having something I can fold up afterwards without feeling like I'm carrying a flimsy little emergency umbrella is a real plus.
David Buckley
For what we wanted, I'm pleased with it.
My 2 year old was determined to have an umbrella of his own after seeing his big sister's. He's delighted with this one. He can manage holding it for a little while, but I deal with the button and help him close it. It's definitely roomy for him rather than a tiny toddler umbrella, so there is growing room. The fabric and frame seem decent and it's been out several times with no trouble. For what we wanted, I'm pleased with it.
Aaron Petersen
For the price, I consider this a good everyday umbrella.
For the price, I consider this a good everyday umbrella. The fabric and overall finish are fairly basic, rather than anything luxurious. Even so, it feels neatly put together and performs well in the rain. A practical, economical choice, and I am satisfied with what I received.
Phyllis Peters
The closed loop handle is comfortable to hold, too.
When I was using public transport around the city (parking cost more than $100 a month), a lot of the stops had nowhere shady to stand. That's why I picked this up last year. It gives me welcome shade while I wait, and it doesn't feel flimsy like so many umbrellas do. The closed loop handle is comfortable to hold, too. A really useful purchase and I'm pleased I went ahead with it.
Andrea Hall
My one reservation is the coverage, I'd prefer it a little wider.
My one reservation is the coverage, I'd prefer it a little wider. Otherwise it has been good in rain and a breeze, and the material doesn't stay all sodden afterwards. Folds down to a sensible size for carrying too. The automatic opening AND closing work nicely. Closing doesn't mean the whole thing shrinks into the handle though. The canopy comes together with the button, then you compress the shaft yourself to pack it away. That's normal for this type and hasn't bothered me.
Dustin Weiss
This gives me a welcome patch of shade, and it looks good too!
Being very fair skinned, I often take an umbrella along if I'm going to be outside for ages. This gives me a welcome patch of shade, and it looks good too! I have NEVER had so many people comment on an umbrella. Apparently even a compact one can get noticed when the shape and handle are a little different.I probably sound like I'm trying to sell it whenever someone asks about it. My one MINOR reservation is that the loop isn't quite as comfortable in my hand on a long outing as I'd hoped. Otherwise, it is easily among the things I've enjoyed buying most, and I keep reaching for it! :)
Austin Blanchard
Just what I was looking for!
I wanted a smart, well-made umbrella with an attractive colour, and this cream white one is lovely. It looked brighter on my screen, but in person the shade is a softer cream white, which I prefer. It opens without a struggle and gives me a comfortable amount of cover. Just what I was looking for!

Early days, but this seems tougher than the umbrella I replaced.
Early days, but this seems tougher than the umbrella I replaced. I live in Seattle, so it isn't going to spend much time sitting unused. Apparently you're supposed to prove you're local by getting soaked in a hoodie. Fine for other people, I'd rather have something over my head. The price seems very reasonable for what you get. I do like the oval loop, though a wrist strap would make carrying it while closed easier for me. So far the button has behaved exactly as it should and it hasn't sprung open when I wasn't expecting it to. That's already an improvement on my old one. Hoping I can say the same after a good long stretch of use.
Kevin Riggs
I enjoy taking it out on rainy days.
My last umbrella gave up in the wind, so I wanted a replacement I actually liked looking at.I picked this one for its simple look and it suits me nicely.I enjoy taking it out on rainy days. :)It feels sturdy and there is comfortable room for me, or two people if you don't mind standing close!
Geoffrey Mcdowell
I'd certainly recommend it if you want a solid everyday umbrella.
Feels properly made, not flimsy. I've used it in rain+wind and it has done a good job without being an enormous thing to take along. Exactly the sort I wanted. It can stay in the car or at the office and doesn't need much space. I'd certainly recommend it if you want a solid everyday umbrella. New England weather can be miserable, and this feels up to normal rainy days.
Dustin Lara
It does seem sturdy though.
I hoped this would tuck into my bag, but it's longer folded than I expected, so that hasn't worked out. It does seem sturdy though. Wind caught it on the second outing and it came through fine, which was a relief as folding umbrellas can feel flimsy. Still working well and I am glad I bought it.
Bradley Barker
That's normal operation, just worth knowing.
The beige fabric has a much prettier look than I expected from an everyday umbrella, and I've had several compliments on it. A little more room in the carrying sleeve would make it a better everyday companion, though. It seems a shame to have something that folds down neatly and then spend so much time persuading it into its cover. I use it for shade as well as showers, and sunshine can turn into an unexpected soaking quite quickly where I live. At least I can keep using this when the weather changes rather than needing something different for the rain. It's the putting away afterwards that requires patience. Either I stop and arrange every fold carefully, or I leave the sleeve off and deal with it later, once everything is dry. Neither is a huge problem, but it does take away some of the convenience. I sometimes think a plainer umbrella with a roomier cover would be less fuss, although I'd miss the look of this one. Closing also takes a firm push: the button folds the canopy, but you still have to compress the telescoping shaft yourself. That's normal operation, just worth knowing. Mostly I leave the sleeve at home.
Brandi Roberts
I don't regret buying it.
I've been using this for several months now and it is holding up nicely. I can't put a number on how much cooler it feels, but getting out of the direct sun makes a real difference! It is still an umbrella though, so a steady wind can catch it and pull at your hand. The oval handle is comfortable for me normally, just less easy when there's a sustained breeze. I don't regret buying it. If it keeps going for a couple of years I would be quite happy to get another.
Sydney Mullen
Overall, its been a good buy - I'd consider another.
After owning quite a few umbrellas, I can say this is my favourite so far. It felt substantial straight out of the packaging. I go between the car and shops a lot, and having a button to open it and collapse the canopy really helps. You still push the pole down yourself before packing it away. It feels steady overhead and has handled the breezes I've used it in. Overall, its been a good buy - I'd consider another.
George Short
It feels well put together and I don't mind carrying it from the car.
Sitting through my grandkids' baseball games is much nicer with this along! While everybody around me is fanning themselves, I've got a patch of shade. It feels well put together and I don't mind carrying it from the car. Thinking I should keep a second one in our other car, because that's always the one I take when I forget it.
Danny Curtis
The blue outside against the black underside looks good too.
Living in the city, I appreciate an umbrella that doesn't hog the pavement. This gives me enough shelter and has handled the gusts between buildings nicely. The blue outside against the black underside looks good too. A useful size without feeling awkward around other pedestrians.
Carl Hendrix
These umbrellas have made a good choice.
Every May I look for useful graduation presents for the students heading off to college, my own kids included. These umbrellas have made a good choice. They fit in a book bag, so there's no excuse for leaving one behind when the forecast looks doubtful. The button is handy when you're carrying books, opening the umbrella or gathering the canopy without much fuss. You still compress the stem yourself afterwards. What gets mentioned to me most, though, is the loop handle. The students find it comfortable to hold and a little different from the usual straight grip. The ones I've handed out have done well with our Midwest rain and breezy weather. I'd certainly recommend one as a practical graduation gift.
Noah Day
A very good umbrella.
Black Compact Umbrella - This has a solid frame and the canopy feels substantial, but it's still manageable to carry folded. I like how it spreads out enough to cover my shoulders without being an enormous thing to steer along the pavement. It has dealt with the breezes I've had so far and doesn't feel flimsy overhead. The push button is a real convenience!! A very good umbrella.
Joann Hunter
Up here in the Northwest an umbrella is hardly an optional extra.
Up here in the Northwest an umbrella is hardly an optional extra. This one keeps the rain off properly, and I find the gray surprisingly attractive, very simple rather than fussy. I am quite particular about colours, have several umbrellas because I like them to suit my coats. This shade is one I can reach for with just about any of them! Could have saved myself some choosing if I'd started with this one!
Kathryn Booker
The cream white is pretty and simple, which was what I wanted.
I got this for a baby shower decoration, then my six year old daughter can have it afterwards. The cream white is pretty and simple, which was what I wanted. There's a dark underside, but it doesn't spoil the look or stand out much when the umbrella is set up.
Misty Joseph
Such a sweet looking umbrella.
There was a rather strong new smell when we first unpacked it, sowe left it open to air before our granddaughter's birthday. Gave it a gentle wipe too and now it smells fine. Such a sweet looking umbrella. She hasn't opened her present yet but Ithink she will be very pleased.
Kara Page
The loop handle is my favourite part.
"I was so excited to have this umbrella because it looks like a grown up one. The loop handle is my favourite part. I like pushing the button and seeing it open, it is really good! My brother has more trouble with his umbrella but this one is brilliant. I want to take mine out even if there isn't any rain."--My daughter, age 8.This is not a tiny child's umbrella, despite folding down neatly. Opened up, there's proper adult coverage, so keep that in mind if you're buying for a youngster. She has help putting it away, as the button closes the canopy but the pole still needs pushing down. For an older child or a teenager I think the size makes more sense than a little toddler umbrella.
Jordan Robertson
What a nice umbrella!
Rain started on the very day this arrived, so it went straight outside with me. What a nice umbrella! There was a breeze along with the downpour and it felt steady in my hand. I especially like being able to open it at the press of a button. The canopy closes that way too. It is a sensible size for one person, not a giant thing to carry about but not skimpy either. Looks and feels worth what I paid!
Edgar Payne
Happy with it so far.
Several months of use now and mine is still doing well. It's a good size over your head, although a little weighty if you're carrying it all day. I have had other folding umbrellas give up fairly quickly in wet, blustery weather, so i was wary of another one. This has felt a lot more steady and the flexible ribs seem well put together. No trouble with the opening mechanism either. On those days when it only rains for five minutes I still grumble about having to carry an umbrella at all. When it's properly raining, though, I'm glad this is the one I've brought along. Happy with it so far.
Max Santiago
Of course it only seems to rain when I forget this Umbrella.
Of course it only seems to rain when I forget this Umbrella. Bring it along and suddenly the weather behaves itself! Seriously though, it gives me a roomy bit of cover without being enormous to carry. A second person can tuck in close if we need to share, which is nicer than leaving them to get soaked. I've had it out in blustery weather and had to grip it properly, but it coped well. No complaints from me about the way it performs, and it has good looks going for it too!
Jerry Villa
It's funny how much that one detail adds.
Used this for my Halloween costume in the city and it was a real hit. I was so glad when I unpacked it and saw how nicely it looked with the whole idea. Lots of people recognised the character, stopped for pictures and commented on the umbrella. It's funny how much that one detail adds. I'm delighted with how everything came together and the umbrella was a great choice!
Jim Booker
No trouble with it in our usual rain and breezes.
I've come back for another after years of using one. We live in the Pacific Northwest and umbrellas get plenty of outings here. Mine comes along when I walk my two kids to the bus stop in the mornings. It covers me well while we wait, and a child can squeeze beside me if needed. It is a useful size without being a long umbrella to carry all the way home. No trouble with it in our usual rain and breezes. Good quality

As an umbrella it works well.
I wanted an umbrella for travelling and everyday shade, but I notice the carrying weight more than I expected.Positives:-Quick button opening-Folds to a useful size-Useful in rain and sunshine.Negative:-For me, it isn't quite the lightweight thing I wanted to bring everywhere. That matters when it spends more time being carried than actually being used. I know some people like a substantial feel, but my preference is to barely notice an umbrella in my bag. There is nothing wrong with its operation; the weight is just not my favourite part. Putting it in my bag instead of carrying it in my hand has helped, and I am using it happily enough that way. As an umbrella it works well. As something to carry around all day, I would prefer lighter.
Charles Hanson
Very good for the price.
A lovely looking umbrella, and I've actually had people ask about it while out walking. Before my Paris trip last year I bought several to hand out afterwards as little presents, rather than spend my sightseeing time hunting for things to bring back.It does have a little weight to it, but feels substantial. Nice to have that shopping done ahead and spend the time in museums instead. Very good for the price.
Aimee Cantu
Finding this made me so happy.
I have a weakness for elegant umbrellas, always looking at them and wishing I had one I really loved. Finding this made me so happy. My little obsession with its appearance has only got worse and I am not complaining. More importantly it is a good umbrella, with a roomy canopy and quality that feels excellent. Everyone seems to admire it as well. Friends at the office have made so many comments about how beautiful it looks and people in the street gives it a second glance. After buying another umbrella too, I can honestly say this one worths the price.
Mallory Duffy
A very good everyday umbrella.
A very good everyday umbrella. I'm tall, so coverage matters more to me than how tiny an umbrella can fold. This opens out to a useful size without being awkward to carry. The handle feels especially good in the hand, fairly light as well.. You don't give handles much thought until you have an uncomfortable one. This one suits me. The blue looks great too. Overall it feels well made and is probably my favourite of the umbrellas I've had.
Hector Dunn
Glad I found it again.
I first noticed one of these at a local museum but left it too late to buy there. Glad I found it again. The button does the opening AND folding of the canopy, which I find very useful. Used it in a downpour today and it felt steady even when the breeze picked up. The frame has a reassuring feel -- not flimsy. Quite roomy overhead for something that folds away.
Yvette Walker
Seems a decent, well put together umbrella.
Seems a decent, well put together umbrella. The loop handle suits my medium sized hands, but I can imagine somebody with much larger hands finding it cramped. I looked over the canopy for tiny holes and didn't find any. Opened out, there's enough space for me.
Dwayne Melendez
Now I can take some shade along, which I love.
Here in Iraq the Sun is no small thing, I have wanted an umbrella like this for a long time. My daily walk is only about six minutes but that heat is enough. Now I can take some shade along, which I love. I am glad I have it, only wish the canopy was a little bigger.
Allen Lewis
How much is there to write about an umbrella!
How much is there to write about an umbrella! Rain lands on it and not on me, which is what I wanted. I use mine with a separate holder on my walker so both hands can stay on the walker. Even with part of the canopy above the frame, there is still enough over me to keep me dry. Quite pleased with it.
Lauren Hensley
A smart addition to the things I take travelling.
A smart addition to the things I take travelling. My bags have had quite a few compliments, and now I have an umbrella that looks good alongside them. The price was very reasonable as well. Since I travel fairly often, it's nice to have the rainy part covered too. Makes stepping out in the rain a little more cheerful.
Rodney Romero
She was so happy with it.
We tried several shops for an umbrella for our little grand daughter and couldn't find one we liked. Found this one online for her second birthday. There wasn't any rain that day, she wanted it outside anyway. She was so happy with it. Seems nicely made and we help her with the button and putting it back down.
Ricky Navarro
They love having them.
The twins are 4, and these are their first umbrellas. They love having them. I do the opening for them and the button is simple to use, which is nice when we're getting ready to go out! There's a good amount of cover when it rains. Both seem sturdy enough so far and they're delighted to carry them. No complaints from me.
Jennifer Rich
The amount of cover is good for a folding umbrella, and I can tilt…
The amount of cover is good for a folding umbrella, and I can tilt it into the rain without feeling cramped underneath. I keep this one in the car for those sudden Houston showers, with a larger umbrella staying at home. The fabric feels substantial and the frame doesn't have that flimsy feel I've had with cheap ones from the shops. The price is higher than I'd normally pay for a compact umbrella, and that's my one reservation, but I can feel where some of that difference goes. For something I'll actually carry when the weather changes, the extra seems worth it!
Adrian Callahan
an early birthday gift for my five year old.
an early birthday gift for my five year old. on our rainy walks to school the old umbrella was awkward for her to manage, so this folding one has been a better option. i usually just go without one myself, but she likes having her own and carries it along looking very pleased with herself

The button is handy when I'm trying to get it up quickly.
If a journey can reasonably be done on foot, that is generally how I do it. There is the daily walk to work, which adds up over the week, and then the walking I do when away on business. An umbrella gets carried quite a lot, not just brought out for the occasional dash from a car. This one has coped nicely with the rain and wind I've encountered so far. Nothing terribly fierce yet, so I can't pretend to have given it that sort of test.
What makes it particularly useful to me, though, is how manageable it is to carry. Some of the sturdier umbrellas I've owned have been a real lump, especially when there are shopping bags to contend with as well. This isn't weightless, but it doesn't feel like an extra chore.
There are lots of flexible ribs inside, and the frame feels substantial without that heavy, rigid feel. The button is handy when I'm trying to get it up quickly. So far it seems a good balance between being portable and actually being useful.
It fits into my suitcase without my having to rearrange everything around it. For work trips, where I want something along just in case, that matters more than I would once have thought.
Opened up, it is about 105cm across. A sensible size for one person, and much easier to take along than a full length umbrella. I would still take something larger if I knew I was facing a long stretch in really heavy rain. That's a matter of coverage rather than anything this one has done wrong.
My only rather fussy thought is about the gray I picked. It looks neat and goes with everything, but on a dark, wet street I sometimes wish I'd been a bit more adventurous. I tend to favour something brighter both for cheering myself up and for being easier to spot by traffic. Perhaps next time I should let practicality lose the argument over colour?

Needed a replacement umbrella for my son.
Needed a replacement umbrella for my son. The finish looks decent and the handle is comfortable to hold. My fourth grader can use the button easily enough, though shortening the shaft afterwards needs a firm push. He can do it himself now. For what it cost, I'm very satisfied.
Suzanne Huffman
I'd be happy to buy the same one again!
This smart black umbrella makes rainy days a little less annoying! It's nice to have something that looks good without being fussy. The frame feels sturdy and I've had no trouble using it so far. The button makes opening it and drawing the canopy shut very convenient. I'd be happy to buy the same one again!
Peter Hart
For a folding umbrella this feels very solid.
For a folding umbrella this feels very solid. The canopy gives good cover when the rain really comes down, and the flexible ribs don't feel brittle. Opening it takes just a press, so I'm not wrestling with it when the weather changes. It manages to feel sturdy without being a burden to carry. One of the better umbrellas I've owned, and I'd certainly recommend it.
Kim Parker
I'm a 6 foot tall guy and carry a satchel across my shoulder most…
I'm a 6 foot tall guy and carry a satchel across my shoulder most days. My previous umbrella kept my upper half covered while I ended up soaked further down in a rain storm, so more coverage was the reason for replacing it. This has the wider canopy I wanted and the fairly professional appearance as well. Only reservation for me, and the reason for four stars rather than five, is the handle being a little small. It's still perfectly usable, just not quite the amount of room I'd like for my hand.
Marvin Valentine
An umbrella I am quite content to use.
The whole men's umbrella versus women's umbrella distinction seems rather unnecessary to me. Is green meant to belong to somebody in particular? Do showers care? Odd.In any event, this one arrived in good order and looks rather smart. An umbrella I am quite content to use.
Gina Chavez
Has a solid feel.
It looks smart. Has a solid feel. Carrying it folded is rather neat too, even if that sounds a funny thing to say about an umbrella. Opened up, it covers me well and one of the kids can tuck in close on the school walk.It folds into a manageable bundle afterwards. The frame feels steady when there's a breeze. Five stars for being better than I expected. If that changes I'll add to this, but right now it's my favourite.
Olivia Moon
I've been through plenty of umbrellas and this one is a keeper.
I've been through plenty of umbrellas and this one is a keeper. Coped well with breezy New York streets and the golf course in Texas. Money well spent. It folds away, yet opens to a useful size, because let's be honest, keeping ONLY your nose dry isn't much use!
