The recipient was a 3 1/2 year old who loves cars, although it was the umbrella that got all the attention that day. He had us taking turns standing underneath in the house while he announced it was raining. Apparently we all needed to stay close to keep dry under the "green umbrella". We handled the button and helped pack it away, but he was happy just holding it. It seems fairly sturdy and stood up to plenty of opening and closing during his pretend rain games.Would recommend.

An excellent everyday umbrella.
An excellent everyday umbrella. There is enough room underneath for me, but it doesn't feel like I'm carrying something enormous past everyone else. Looks nicer than the usual boring umbrella too. Pressing the button to open it is very handy. It will close the canopy as well, although pushing the shaft back down by hand needs a firmer push than I expected. That's my one small gripe, and it doesn't stop me loving it!
Miranda Stein
I'd be quite happy buying the same one again.
I've had mine a couple of years and haven't noticed any change in how it works. It has a solid feel, with smooth button operation for opening and closing the canopy. Handles the usual wet, breezy days well and isn't awkward to carry folded. I'd be quite happy buying the same one again.
Heidi Fisher
The handle feels secure (longer use will tell).
PROS: Feels well put together, opens promptly and packs neatly away. The handle feels secure (longer use will tell). CONS: I'd prefer slightly more coverage and a less bulky folded shape. OVERALL: A useful everyday umbrella rather than a huge one. About 8 out of 10 from me.

I feel the money was well spent.
I needed an umbrella once I began working in the city, mainly for the walk between the station and my office. Something practical without looking completely dull was the idea, and this has worked out well. The frame felt more substantial than I expected when I first opened it. Its first proper trip out was in heavy rain with enough wind to make the walk unpleasant. There were other umbrellas struggling along the street, while I was mostly concentrating on keeping hold of mine. It kept my upper half dry, though of course my lower legs still got wet. I made it to the meeting looking reasonably presentable instead of completely soaked. For an umbrella that packs away into my work bag, that's a very satisfying result. I feel the money was well spent.
Philip Solomon
Good coverage in rain, and it feels reassuringly solid.
I've found this a very useful umbrella. There is enough coverage to keep me dry without carrying something full length, and the simple design appeals to me. A few reviews mentioned that packing it away takes some effort, which I can understand. The button collapses the canopy, then you press the telescoping stem down by hand. Once I realised that, there wasn't anything difficult about it. I take a moment to gather the fabric neatly rather than trying to rush it. The comments from other buyers were useful, but none of that has been a problem for me. Good coverage in rain, and it feels reassuringly solid. A great find!
Jose Luna
Looks great and seems more than capable of handling the rain.
Looks great and seems more than capable of handling the rain. I actually wanted it for shade on a trip to Asia, so that's the main reason for buying it. It is heavier than I had pictured, and carrying it all day might be a bit tiring. Apart from that small drawback, I'm very happy with it!

What do you really say about an umbrella?
What do you really say about an umbrella? My head stays dry, which is the main thing. When the rain comes sideways here, well, there's only so much any of them can do.Still, I've found this one quite useful, especially with children to keep track of.1) There is decent cover. Me and a child can tuck in together, but I wouldn't call it a whole family umbrella.2) It folds down, so I'm not left carrying a long stick around when the shower stops.3) Being able to open it with one hand is the best part! Handy when your other hand is occupied. Pressing the button again folds up the canopy, then you have to shorten the pole yourself. Worth knowing before you try to do everything one handed.4) The pink is cheerful! A welcome change on a miserable wet morning. For me, the easy opening is what makes it worth keeping. Nothing miraculous about it otherwise, just a nice umbrella. As a mom I'd pay a little extra for that convenience, though shortening it afterwards takes a bit of effort.

Wind too, where we live.
Nearly 3 years in England has taught my husband and me not to choose an umbrella just because it's cheap. We bought about 5 in the first 2 years...there is rain here. Plenty of it. Wind too, where we live. I finally spent a bit more on this one and feel it was the right decision! it's a comfortable size, feels solid when I'm holding it and looks smart as well. I would happily suggest it to anyone shopping for one.

The blue is a lovely clear colour, attractive without being loud.
This arrived a few days ahead of Mother's Day, which left time to look it over before wrapping it. Having worked through the reviews, I wanted to explain what I actually found, because the different opinions had made me hesitate over giving it as a gift. The blue is a lovely clear colour, attractive without being loud. There is comfortable room underneath for one person. Two could stand close together, but having enough space for my mother herself was really the point.
Pressing the button sends it up quite briskly, so hold it properly and give it room rather than aiming it towards somebody! Another press collapses the canopy; you then compress the telescoping stem yourself to finish putting it away. I practiced that several times before handing it over, partly to check it and partly so I could explain it without fumbling. As with any hand umbrella, I wouldn't hold the open underside straight into a strong gust (common sense!), and in truly dreadful weather I would sooner find shelter.
My mother was delighted with it. Flowers are lovely, but I felt this was something she could enjoy for longer, as well as actually use. It looks like a thoughtful present rather than just a rainy-day necessity. She can take it out for shade, too, which was part of the appeal for me.
With my background in Fine Art History I do tend to spend rather too long thinking about how things look. I considered a more decorative umbrella, but decided the straightforward blue would suit her better. It has enough presence without needing an elaborate design, and seems equally appropriate carried on a grey wet morning or opened in the sunshine.
Molly Barron
Cute without feeling tiny- the open size is just right for me.
Cute without feeling tiny- the open size is just right for me. It's been useful on wet days and sunny ones, and the little sleeve is handy for putting it away. Only thing I'm not so keen on is the folding and tucking to get it back inside neatly. A little fiddly.
Nicole Shannon
This is okay in wind, but I expected more room underneath.
I went by the reviews because I'm still looking for an umbrella with a strong frame and a lot of cover. This is okay in wind, but I expected more room underneath. My big golf umbrella fits two people and shelters more of my clothes, this one doesn't reach as far down. So that was a bit disappointing.I do like the style though, and carrying it is less of a hassle. Just wish it opened out wider. I'll keep it for occasional use, but on those really wet days I'll take the larger one I already have. Useful enough, just not the all round umbrella I was hoping for.
Louis Cooley
The material feels substantial and the button opens it neatly.
I've had several operations to remove skin cancer, so being outside makes me much more cautious than it used to. That's difficult when you enjoy the outdoors. Having some portable shade has made it easier to spend time out there without sitting in direct sun, and I feel more comfortable underneath it on hot days. The material feels substantial and the button opens it neatly. It isn't a replacement for my other sun precautions, but I'm very glad to have it.
Alex Todd
He has been pleased with it and says it does what he needs.
The black canopy looks smart and appropriate to take along to a gathering. The button is straightforward to use and there is a comfortable amount of cover for one person. This was a Christmas present for my husband, who is an engineer and likes practical things. He has been pleased with it and says it does what he needs.
Marco Bradshaw
It works, just more effort than I had in mind.
I like it but didn't quite understand the closing part. Pressing the button folds the canopy... the pole still needs to be shortened by hand afterwards. It works, just more effort than I had in mind. Also when I tilt it in heavier rain my sleeves can get wet. Kind of awkward when I'm trying to stay covered. Fine for an ordinary shower, not my favorite umbrella to carry.
Bryce Collins
Having it here, I'm glad I went ahead.
I was a little hesitant choosing an umbrella from just an online photo. Having it here, I'm glad I went ahead. The frame seems strong and the whole thing is nicely finished. It cost more than I normally spend on an umbrella, which is my only real hesitation. I picked it out around Christmas and it's actually much prettier in person than I expected!
Martin Weaver
The button is straightforward and it feels solid.
Finding an umbrella that would go in my work bag but still give proper cover took me a while. This folds down nicely and is a generous size once open! The button is straightforward and it feels solid. It's a little heavier in the bag than I'd ideally like, but that's a fair trade for the coverage. Overall one of the better umbrellas I've had.
Sue Leonard
Good quality in a more convenient size.
Added this as a second umbrella and I think it's worth the price. A bit smaller than I'd imagined, although the measurements were right there and I didn't really picture them properly. Still keeping it, it has a useful place for those times I don't want to carry my larger one around. Good quality in a more convenient size.
Meagan Estes
I've been very happy with it.
I was hunting for an umbrella suited to wind when I spotted this and thought I'd try it. My building is in a spot that really "chews up" umbrellas, with wind funneling between the surrounding buildings and streets. This one has coped with those walks better than any of my previous umbrellas. I've been very happy with it. Excellent find!!!
Derek Lowery
It did very well though and kept me dry.
The black umbrella turned up in good shape and I had a reason to take it out the following morning. Rain with a fair bit of wind, which wasn't how I wanted to try a new umbrella. It did very well though and kept me dry. Looking underneath you can see all the ribs, there is a lot of support across the canopy. It feels properly made rather than flimsy. I paid a little more than I usually would for an umbrella, but after using it I don't mind that at all. This is one I would recommend to somebody needing a decent umbrella. Five stars from me.
Clayton Fitzpatrick
A definite hit here.
We liked the simple look of this one, even after reading a less enthusiastic review, so we ordered it. My son thinks it's great - he keeps wanting to take it out and try it. It seems solid, and the oval loop handle is a nice little detail - much more interesting to him than the usual umbrella handle. A definite hit here.
Elaine Herrera
So far this has been excellent in rain and a bit of wind.
So far this has been excellent in rain and a bit of wind. The cover is generous for something that folds up, but it isn't an enormous umbrella taking over the pavement. For me thats the right balance, enough space without catching everyone walking past. Two people could share if they squeezed together, though I mostly use it on my own.
Shirley Bentley
To me the canopy is on the small side.
To me the canopy is on the small side. The automatic umbrella I had before gave more coverage, which is what I'd have chosen again. This one is easy to carry, although the shaft looks rather slim. I've only taken it out once, in a bit of wind, and it managed that without trouble. I still wonder how it would feel on a really blustery day. I wouldn't describe the coverage as especially generous. For light rain and a short walk it does the job, but if I had to be out for ages in a downpour I'd want something wider. I can see my trousers getting quite wet below it. It's a decent compact option, just not the larger umbrella I was hoping for. I'd accept some extra weight to have that extra coverage.

For walking in the heat here in southern California, this umbrella…
For walking in the heat here in southern California, this umbrella has been lovely. I like having my own patch of shade, and it isn't awkward to carry in my bag. Packing it away takes a bit of a shove after the canopy has closed, since the shaft needs compressing by hand. Once that's done it rolls neatly and goes back into the sleeve without trouble.
Mandy Rivers
I asked for this umbrella as a gift and was pleased to receive it.
I asked for this umbrella as a gift and was pleased to receive it. It feels well made, although I wouldn't say it's dramatically stronger than every other umbrella. What I enjoy is the simple look, especially the dark underside. It has drawn a few nice comments when I've used it.
Lucas Mcclain
People ask me, "Can you actually get a decent small umbrella?
Most of the time this lives in my backpack, and it is compact enough that I don't resent the space it takes up. The button opens it quickly and there is proper cover when the rain starts. It folds away neatly afterwards.Umbrellas don't get used constantly around here, so buying one tends to be an afterthought. Then a wet day comes and everyone remembers the flimsy thing they've been carrying. People ask me, "Can you actually get a decent small umbrella?" My answer now is, "Yes, you can!" Once they see how neatly this packs away and how much room there is underneath it, they understand why I keep it with me.

- Good size once open!
Pro's:
- Comfortable loop handle
- Frame feels sturdy
- Carry sleeve included
- Good size once open!
- Beige!
- Material seems decent
- Opens smartly with the button
- Canopy collapses at a second press
Con's:
- Still need to shorten the shaft yourself
- A little heavier in my bag than I hoped

not a bad way to handle the rain!
City wind hasn't given me any grief with this one. I see people wrestling with inside-out umbrellas on the pavement, while I'm just strolling along with mine, dry and feeling rather pleased with myself. Almost makes me want to whistle... not a bad way to handle the rain!
Stacey Allen
I'd be pleased to buy this one again!
I really enjoy the look of this in cream white. We get a lot of rain where I live, so having one I actually enjoy carrying is a bonus. The size works well for me and the button is simple to use, although shortening the shaft afterwards does need a firm push. What I really appreciate is how tidy it becomes once I've straightened the folds. It goes into the carry sleeve quite easily instead of being a battle to squeeze in.I'd be pleased to buy this one again!
Preston Booker
Otherwise it is very convenient and I'm happy with it.
The size is just right for me (useful cover without being enormous). The canopy moves so quickly with the button that I jumped at first. Resetting the shaft takes a firm push; my 13 year old daughter struggles with that bit. Otherwise it is very convenient and I'm happy with it.

Finally an umbrella i actually trust.
Finally an umbrella i actually trust. I've had so many cheap ones give up that I wasn't expecting much from this. It arrived before that big snowstorm in NY and I was a bit nervous about taking it out in the wind. It stayed the right way round, and in the heavy rain since then i've stayed dry underneath. There's a decent amount of room for me, being a bigger guy. Carrying it on a crowded bus is still a bit awkward, but folded up it's manageable. Very glad I gave this one a go.
Oscar Pratt
Overall a very good umbrella for what I needed.
Ive used mine at a couple of events already and been happy both times. It looks lovely for weddings and bridal showers, and is useful at other outdoor gatherings too. The fabric feels well put together and rain hasn't come through it. Overall a very good umbrella for what I needed.
Molly Delgado
Really like using this umbrella!
Really like using this umbrella! Opens easily and feels strong, including in the windy rain we've had. I did hope it would be a bit wider. Two people can stand under it but not with much spare room... just for me, it's great and I'm glad I picked it. Already had it out during a wet spell. If your wanting a sturdy everyday umbrella for yourself, I'd recommend it.

I chose these for the nurse friends who were there for us while my husband was so ill with oral cancer. They had helped at home as well as being friends for many years, and I wanted a thank you that was useful rather than something to put on a shelf. An umbrella seemed a nice way for them to think of him whenever they carried it. The blue wasn't exactly the shade I'd imagined, but I was happy with it and it still made a lovely thank you.
Luke Ross
Spending more than $10 on an umbrella used to seem unnecessary to me.
Spending more than $10 on an umbrella used to seem unnecessary to me. Then my cheap one gave out, and I started looking for something more substantial for wet, windy days. This feels like money well spent! It opens smoothly, has been dependable so far, and doesn't feel unwieldy even though I'm only 5'3". Much nicer to carry than I expected!
Morgan Spencer
This takes a bit more planning.
I loved the look of this online, then opened it and thought well-that's-more-umbrella-than-I-imagined. Folded doesn't mean tiny! Some people will probably see that as a bonus because it opens into a nice roomy canopy, but I was picturing something I could forget about in a little handbag. This takes a bit more planning. If you want decent coverage for your hair and bag I can see the appeal, and honestly I mainly wanted it because it looked pretty. Quality seems good so far (only light rain to judge by, though), and the button has been easy to use. The cream white looks a little brighter in person than I expected from the picture, rather than the softer shade I had in mind. Still, I do like it and don't regret buying it. Just look at the folded length as well as the open size before deciding where you'll carry it :)

Two little drawbacks:The oval handle is a bit cramped for my grip.
I've had two of these within a year, replacing one I lost on a rainy trip. They have both done well in wet and windy conditions. With the commute between home and work I end up using an umbrella quite often, and I've had no trouble keeping dry with this one. Two little drawbacks:The oval handle is a bit cramped for my grip.It also takes up more room folded than some other compact umbrellas I've owned. Neither is enough to stop me using it.

It took some comparing to settle on this umbrella for crowded NYC sidewalks. The gray canopy gives me enough cover without feeling like I'm carrying something enormous. I do need to mind the front edge so i can see people coming towards me. Still, the size seems a good compromise - useful shelter without taking over the sidewalk. The button is a MUCH bigger convenience than I expected, especially w/ something in my other hand. Folded up, it is short enough to keep with me instead of having a long umbrella to carry around. I wouldn't choose it for a major storm, but for ordinary rain it's done everything I needed. A second one as a spare is tempting - and I could see giving one as a gift too.
Brittney Leblanc
I even had people there asking where I'd found it!
Some of the comments about sturdiness made me hesitate, but I decided to try it and have been very happy so far. Its first outing was in England and it coped well...I even had people there asking where I'd found it! It takes up more room than my previous folding umbrella , but will still go in my small backpack. There is a sleeve included, which helps keep it tidy when packed away. I find it easiest to fold the fabric neatly before slipping it in. I'd suggest it to anyone after something solid that is still practical to take along.
Ricky Delacruz
It feels fairly light to carry and use, and has kept me dry.
I bought a pair of these, one for myself and one for my wife. So far I think they're decent value. I've only had mine a short while and haven't taken it out in really strong wind, so I can't say much about how it will hold up over time. It feels fairly light to carry and use, and has kept me dry. You can tell it's more of a budget umbrella, it doesn't have that expensive feel in the hand, but at this price I'm happy enough. Hopefully I can get a couple of years out of it.
Briana Alvarado
This is a keeper.
This is a keeper. Small enough for my backpack side pocket, yet there's a decent amount of shelter when it's open. Two of us can share if we keep close. The green looks good and the button responds without any fuss. Closing hasn't pinched my fingers either: the canopy folds with a press, then I shorten the pole manually before packing it away. It's handled wet, breezy days nicely. I do keep a firm grip when the wind picks up because you can feel it tugging at your hand. So far the frame has stayed in shape and I've stayed dry.

Such a lovely addition to my daughter's wedding!
Such a lovely addition to my daughter's wedding! The day had a vintage feel and this umbrella fitted in beautifully without taking over the pictures. The photographer found some really creative ways to include it and those photos are among my favourites. The fabric feels substantial and the umbrella looked just as nice in person as I hoped. We only thought about using an umbrella during the week before the wedding, so it was a very last minute idea, but I'm so glad we went ahead with it. It looked lovely both held open and just carried between pictures. For what I paid I couldn't be happier with the way it helped finish everything off!!! I would absolutely suggest one to anyone wanting an umbrella for their wedding photos!

He is so pleased with this umbrella and want to take it…
He is so pleased with this umbrella and want to take it everywhere, rain or not. It turned out to be popular at preschool too, because another child carried it home and we are still waiting for it back. the button is easy for him to press, although I do the final shortening for my little 4year old. If it doesn't make its way back here I suppose we will be getting another one.
Jay Walls
This has been that umbrella for me.
Nearly a year of keeping this in the car and I still have no complaints. It's been out in plenty of rain, including some fairly miserable downpours, rather than just a few gentle showers. The button action has been straightforward every time, no sticking halfway or having to persuade it to work. I thought that might be the annoying part of a folding umbrella, but it hasn't been.
Folded up, it's not something I'd put in a small purse. In the car it fits out of the way, though, and that's where I need it. Two people can squeeze underneath when the rain isn't much, but in heavy rain I treat it as a one person umbrella. Your lower legs aren't magically protected either. There has to be some realism about how much a handheld compact can cover.
I've used it when it's gusty without getting water through the top, and it doesn't seem to stay damp for ages afterwards. There's a larger umbrella in the trunk, but this one is within reach and is usually the one that comes out.
Before this I had worked my way through several inexpensive umbrellas, mostly things I'd ended up with rather than deliberately picked. They never felt particularly substantial. Trying a better compact was what made me take a bit more notice and actually look for one worth keeping. This has been that umbrella for me. Almost a year is a pretty good test compared with ones that barely seemed to manage a handful of wet days. I'm not especially precious with it, although I don't mistreat it either. I can't account for how other people use theirs, only say that mine has been dependable and I don't find myself shopping for a replacement--

Not much thought went into buying it, but I'm very pleased that I did.
A rather hurried purchase, with no reading of reviews or much deliberation at all. I came back to write something because it has been a surprisingly good choice. It feels substantial, opens to a generous size, and isn't awkward to handle on crowded Manhattan sidewalks. We've even shared the cover when walking close together. It has coped well with breezy weather and has a satisfying weight in the hand when folded. Not much thought went into buying it, but I'm very pleased that I did.

A very satisfying little umbrella to use.
Easily my favourite of the umbrellas I have. The shaft feels firm, the canopy sheds rain nicely, and the whole frame looks properly put together rather than flimsy. The oval loop handle is a useful bit of the design, and it comes with a simple sleeve to put it away in. No elaborate packing needed!I also appreciate the button operation, it pops open and draws the canopy shut without any fuss. A very satisfying little umbrella to use.
Dakota Figueroa
Have only tried it indoors, not out in rain yet.
Reasonable value. More compact than I pictured, so I would treat it as a one person umbrella. Worth considering what size you actually need before buying. The button action is convenient and the frame feels good for something that folds down. Durability is still to be seen. Have only tried it indoors, not out in rain yet.

), so I decided to try carrying an umbrella as well.
I have very fair skin, and Florida sunshine makes a portable patch of shade rather appealing! Sunscreen can be a messy business (and not my most elegant moment!), so I decided to try carrying an umbrella as well. I'm glad I gave this one a chance. The gray is a pleasant, understated color, with a plain black underside. There aren't lots of decorative details to fuss over, which actually suits it. I thought I might want something more showy, but this feels quite unobtrusive when I'm out with it. It seems sturdy, and opening it with the button is simple. Closing took a moment to understand: the canopy folds in at the press of the button, then I shorten the shaft by hand. Once I'd done that, there wasn't much to puzzle over. The little sleeve is neat, and putting the umbrella back inside was easier than I had expected. Overall, I'm delighted with my choice. Carrying shade around still strikes me as a slightly whimsical thing to do, but I rather enjoy that! I've already had a compliment on it, which was lovely. I could quite happily see myself trying another color from the same range sometime.
Philip Turner
Hopefully this is one I can hang on to for a good few years.
Wanted something with enough room for my daughter and me, but still practical to carry. We can fit under this if we stand close together. It feels well made and goes in my handbag (actually more of a tote) easily. Houston rain has given it a decent outing already and we've stayed dry. Hopefully this is one I can hang on to for a good few years.
Tyler Carson
Used it in rain already and it feels nice and solid.
Used it in rain already and it feels nice and solid. Haven't tried it on a particularly windy day yet so i can't comment on that. Not the tiniest folded umbrella, but I wanted decent coverage rather than the smallest possible thing. On that basis it suits me very well.
