A really nice umbrella with a substantial feel--the fabric isn't flimsy and everything seems put together well. The blue is a bit deeper than I expected in person. Size is generous too--my three-year-old has a little trouble managing it all, but at least it isn't something she'll be too big for next year. I'm glad we went with this one.

Apparently it is much more than rain gear to him.
I bought this after my 2 year old son decided having an umbrella was terribly important. His previous one didn't survive a week, so I wasn't expecting much from another. He wanted one of his own and this looked like a reasonably priced choice that I could help him use. Well, after about three or four months it is still in remarkably good shape. No obvious signs of the hard life he thinks umbrellas should have. We take it out for rain, and he even wants it up in the sunshine when the sprinkler is going. The funniest part is he wants to take it to bed too. Apparently it is much more than rain gear to him.

More exciting than a games console?
More exciting than a games console? What! Well, possibly not for everyone, but an umbrella can make a person surprisingly happy. There wasn't anything wrong with my console, I just wanted something rather more useful when the weather turns. This one is a little gem (meaning- I really like it). The design looks smart and the oval handle is comfortable without trying to be fancy. But the thing that really sells it to me is the opening button. One hand. One finger, even. If your other hand is already occupied and you're about to step into rain, that is a very satisfying little convenience. It feels substantial once it's up, too. Not something I feel I have to fuss over every minute. The canopy closes with the button as well, although you still compress the shaft yourself afterwards. That seems perfectly sensible to me. No complicated performance required just to get under cover. A bit of everyday practicality, with some style thrown in.Enjoy staying dry.

For the price, the quality is better than I expected.
Okay, I've been using this for a few weeks and wanted to comment after a pretty windy stretch. For the price, the quality is better than I expected. The shaft slides smoothly and the opening and folding action has been working very well. The stitching looks solid, and I can see it lasting through more than one wet NW winter. I usually carry a shoulder pack along with other bags, so I especially appreciate how much coverage there is once it's open. It has been enough to keep both me and the stuff I'm carrying out of the rain.

It looks lovely & works just as nicely...
I had an umbrella I adored & managed to leave it in a shopping cart. Went back about five minutes later & of course it had disappeared! Looked online for a replacement & ended up choosing this one. It isn't the same as my old one, but I'm delighted w/it. People have asked about it when they see me using it, which always makes me smile. The button opens it & brings the canopy down...then I push the shaft back in. So simple to manage! It looks lovely & works just as nicely...couldn't be more pleased!

I went through so many inexpensive ones.
My apartment is opposite a large city park, and the little streets beside it get a very different sort of wind from the wider roads. It comes across all that open space, hits the buildings and seems to have nowhere to go except straight down those narrow streets. You can be walking quite normally and suddenly everything you are carrying is pulling in another direction. I've had a bag pulled right out of my hand and even my heavy handbag lifted enough to give me a fright. Sometimes somebody catches it, sometimes I am the one running after it. Sounds like a scene in a movie but it is just going outside my building.
I am explaining the neighborhood because saying it gets windy doesn't really explain why I became so fussy about umbrellas. I went through so many inexpensive ones. They would be fine until I reached the park, then the canopy would flip and I'd be trying to get home with this useless thing over my head. After wet weather the rubbish bins along those streets would have umbrellas sticking out of them.
When I first bought this one I was expecting much the same. Instead it felt secure in my hand and kept its shape on the walks that had been giving me trouble. I still hold on properly, and I don't expect any handheld umbrella to make the worst weather harmless. But for the wet, gusty days I have used it on, it has been a completely different experience. More than once I've thought, well, here comes the moment I'll regret buying another umbrella, and then carried on home dry.
It has had a lot of use, not just one successful outing. After several years I was paying particular attention to the joints, because that was where the old umbrellas tended to give up. This one was still holding together nicely. That matters much more to me than how impressive something looks when you first take it out.
Then I managed to leave it on a bus. That was my own doing and I am still annoyed with myself. There are a couple of cheap umbrellas at home, but I don't reach for them with the same confidence. Looking for another of these and reading some unhappy reviews made me want to add my experience. I can't speak for everybody, only for how well mine served me. It stayed useful until I was careless enough to lose it, and I would happily buy it again.

Delivery was prompt and the umbrella looks nicely finished.

Its a sturdy umbrella and the size works out just right for us.
Shade at my sons baseball games is what I wanted this for, and its been great. Sitting under it is noticeably more comfortable than sitting straight in the sun. There is enough cover for me and my younger son beside me without taking over the whole row. Its a sturdy umbrella and the size works out just right for us. I have seen more people bringing umbrellas for shade lately, and a few have asked about this one. I like having it along.

This has been good in the rain and comfortable to use.
I'm normally not very lucky with umbrellas, so it's nice to have one that feels dependable. This has been good in the rain and comfortable to use. My only little gripe is that the black looks rather plain to me. Still, I like it- a sensible purchase for the money.
Lonnie Griffith
It works really well though.
Not quite like the umbrellas I usually carry. It's bigger once opened than I had imagined, although that hasn't caused me any trouble. The loop handle feels comfortable and makes carrying it around easy. I'm used to pushing an umbrella open myself, so pressing a button and having it spring out was different at first. It works really well though. I'm only 5'2" and there is enough canopy to shelter my head and shoulders without hunching myself up underneath it. I can hold it high enough to see where I'm walking and still stay covered. For the rain and breezes I've used it in, I've felt nicely sheltered, which is good for my hair. :)The fabric feels quite substantial rather than paper thin, and I haven't noticed any odd buildup after drying it out. Cute and practical is what I want, and that's what I got here! It seemed a bit different initially but I've been pleasantly surprised. Other people have commented on it as well, and wanted to know where I found it.

These umbrellas have been good to our family.
These umbrellas have been good to our family. We've had a few black ones, and usually it's leaving one somewhere that sends us looking for another. Our son has been interested in ours for all of his seven years, so it hasn't exactly had gentle treatment. Plenty of opening, carrying about and being put down wherever he stops, and it still works. Most umbrellas I've owned have annoyed me sooner or later. This one has earned my confidence. I'd happily buy it again!
Bill Hammond
It opens to a good size and the Cream White looked lovely.
Rain was forecast for our outdoor wedding ceremony and I was getting so nervous! Ordered this as a backup more than anything. It opens to a good size and the Cream White looked lovely. We were lucky and the rain never came, so it stayed folded, but I'm still glad I had it.
Xavier Butler
Several people have said how nice it looks, too.
I can hold it high enough to see ahead while still keeping my shoulders dry. Several people have said how nice it looks, too. My only niggle is tidying the fabric after I've shaken the water off; it takes a bit of patience to get it folded neatly. Works well, just wish putting it away were a little quicker.
Alisha Atkins
The green is really nice in person.
So pretty! It looks just like the picture and opens out larger than I was picturing from it folded up. The green is really nice in person. The frame feels solid, although I'm still a little cautious with the automatic opening because it springs out quite quickly. No rain yet so I can't say much about that part, but I'll come back once I've used it.UPDATE: Rain finally arrived and I got to try it properly. I love it even more now, it was cheerful to carry and kept me dry. My dog was in a carrier against me and there was enough room under the canopy for him too!.Not often an umbrella makes me grin, but this one did. If you're looking for a practical umbrella that's also nice to look at, I would recommend it.
Harry Boyd
It seems a good buy and I'm pleased with how handy it is.
The umbrella I had before this one made it through about 12 years, and then I managed to leave it behind somewhere. Hoping this one stays with me as long. Losing them is usually my problem, not wearing them out. This slips into the side space on my computer backpack and isn't much weight to carry. Out of the sleeve, press the button and up it goes! At the office door another press folds the canopy in. (You still push the shaft back yourself, but the folded top is enough to get inside.)There is plenty of cover for me alone, not really room to comfortably walk under it with another person. That's no great problem as my walk to work is generally just me. It seems a good buy and I'm pleased with how handy it is.
Joshua Fox
Will see about the wind, but I'm impressed so far!
Haven't tried this in a really strong wind, so that part is still to be seen. The push button is excellent when I'm hurrying, opening it with one hand and drawing the canopy shut again when needed. The shaft still needs pushing down by hand. Open, it's a useful size, but it folds down neatly. Nothing to complain about yet. Will see about the wind, but I'm impressed so far!

Really pleased I finally got one, it has been worth carrying!
I'd been thinking about buying an umbrella for my walks for a couple of years, mostly debating how much cover I really wanted. Having this one has changed those walks quite a bit. I'm not someone who enjoys being out in strong sunshine, especially during my lunchtime walk. My route is about two and a half miles beside the water, with very little shade along the way. Getting back to work all sweaty, with my arms catching the sun and those lovely sunglasses outlines on my face, was getting old.It feels solid when a breeze comes through and hasn't been difficult to hold steady. There is quite a bit of umbrella overhead for an everyday outing, though, even with it being a folding one. I still want a smaller option for the days when I stand there wondering whether the sun is really strong enough to bother taking this along. Something smaller would make that decision a little easier, just for convenience. But when I actually want proper shade on that walk, I'm very happy to have the coverage. I've taken it out in heavy rain too, and having that much canopy around me was just as welcome then. Really pleased I finally got one, it has been worth carrying!
Jill Porter
I would certainly recommend this Haven umbrella.
This umbrella opens out to a very useful size and has been a welcome thing to have when the rain starts. There is enough coverage to feel properly sheltered, rather than having to huddle underneath it. The whole thing feels substantial; and for something I expect to use regularly, I consider it money well spent. Mine is Cream White, which looks very nice indeed!
Opening it with the button is straightforward, and another press folds the canopy closed. You still compress the telescoping shaft by hand afterwards, but that is simple enough once you know the routine. I've been using it regularly now and have no complaints about how it operates.
The fabric was something I wondered about before using it. Sometimes an umbrella looks better than it feels; this one has a pleasing, firmly supported canopy. The flexible ribs seem well suited to it, and the frame doesn't have that flimsy feeling I wanted to avoid. Good!
There is also the practical matter of carrying it when the weather clears. Folded down, it is manageable, and the enclosed loop handle gives me a comfortable hold. Those ordinary details matter when you are actually using something, not just looking at it.
I would certainly recommend this Haven umbrella. It offers useful coverage, convenient opening and a reassuring feel overall. I'm pleased to have it ready for the next wet day!
Claudia Nelson
I've even had people comment on how nice it looks, which is a bonus.
Here in Southern California I carry this for shade far more often than I need it for rain (we don't get a whole lot of that). It makes being out in the heat more pleasant. I've even had people comment on how nice it looks, which is a bonus. Pretty enough to enjoy using, but still a useful umbrella when the weather changes.

Works fine, it just takes a firm manual push to reset the shaft…

Very happy with how it covers me and how neatly it folds.
Very happy with how it covers me and how neatly it folds. I'd give five stars if the folded length was just a little shorter. It fits my bag, just not as freely as I'd hoped. Not a major issue. The green outside is cheerful without being loud, and underneath it's plain black, which I actually prefer to a busy pattern.
Alexis Cummings
Feels solid and quite sturdy.
Feels solid and quite sturdy. The size when open suits me very well. The blue is pretty, especially with raindrops on it.
Useful for rain and also for a little shade. Nicely packed when it arrived.
Not the lightest umbrella, but I am happy with the substantial feel.
Carrie Andrews
Haven works as it should.
Haven works as it should. One press opens it, another pulls the canopy in just as easily, which makes climbing into the car a lot less awkward. In a heavy southern rain, though, I still got some spray coming in round the edges. Fine for a quick walk, but don't expect to stay completely dry when it's really coming down.
Christian Petty
Mine arrived a little earlier than expected.
Mine arrived a little earlier than expected. The material and frame seem good. It's simple to open and gives me a nice patch of shade. I'm an adult and don't find it too small at all, the size works well for me. Carrying it about isn't a bother either. There is a sleeve to put it in which I appreciate.Nice purchase, thank you!
Karen Beard
I ordered two in cream white and am pleased with both.
I'm only five feet tall, and this gives me a good amount of cover without being a long umbrella. Getting in and out of the car is much less of a soaking now. I ordered two in cream white and am pleased with both. Pressing the button opens it or folds the canopy, then I push the shaft down myself. Folded up they don't take much space. Open, there's enough room to keep me properly covered.

What a difference this one makes!
What a difference this one makes! I'm a larger lady, and usually an umbrella means choosing which bit of me gets rained on! Even when it's falling straight down, something always seemed to be outside the edge. A couple I'd bought before looked generous enough until I actually stood underneath them. Then I'd pass somebody with a great big canopy and wonder why THEY had shelter to spare while I was getting damp!
So I had my fingers crossed when this arrived. It gives me the coverage I'd been hoping for, without feeling like an enormous thing to carry around. My sister could tuck alongside me too, although we did have to stay close together! For me on my own there's comfortable room underneath. It feels solid and well put together, but holding it isn't the effort I expected from something that covers me this well.
There wasn't much waiting for a proper test either. Two days after it arrived we had some thoroughly miserable weather, with heavy rain, and I was glad to have it ready. It kept me covered beautifully! I probably won't bring it out for a tiny bit of drizzle unless there's a longer walk involved. But when the rain really gets going, this is definitely the umbrella I'll be reaching for. At last, enough shelter for ME!

Didn't expect to enjoy a button on an umbrella quite this much.
Didn't expect to enjoy a button on an umbrella quite this much. It opens quickly and another press draws the canopy together, which is very handy when I've got groceries, keys and a car door to deal with. You still need to shorten the pole by hand afterwards, but that's simple enough. Rain beads on the fabric and a shake gets most of it off before I go inside. I used to spend ages shaking out umbrellas and still end up carrying something dripping. This one is much less of a bother. The little convenience of it is what I like most.

She likes holding the oval handle herself.
Got this for my daughter who is an average sized three year old. She's careful with her things, so I can't judge how it would cope with rough treatment, but it's been very good for our rainy walks. It is more umbrella than a tiny toddler one, and I handle the button and help her keep the front edge above her eyes. She likes holding the oval handle herself. There is plenty of coverage for her and room to grow into it, which is what I wanted. The plain black is nice and smart rather than a bright picture design. We've both enjoyed using it, with a grown up helping her it's been a good choice.

Took this along to the event this year.
Took this along to the event this year. Weather was fairly mild, but I had it out for shade a lot and used it when it got breezy too. It didn't turn inside out on me. People kept wanting a turn once they saw the shade. It's a one-person umbrella, not cover for the whole group. Very useful thing to have along.
Adrian Banks
This seemed a nice alternative.
I ordered this for my six year old daughter. She loves having her own umbrella but I wanted something less like a novelty one. This seemed a nice alternative. The lovely thing (apart from how cute she thinks it is) is the button opening. It pops out so easily! I do the final push down after the canopy has closed. Nice umbrella (We're a military family overseas so it took a while. And this is my husbands account!)
Loretta Gray
My one reservation is the weight.
I wanted something to shade me on the twenty minute walk from my car to campus. I really like the look of this umbrella - pretty without being fussy! The shade makes that stretch feel less tiring on bright days. My one reservation is the weight. It's not ridiculous, but by the end of the walk I do notice I'm carrying it, and I wonder whether a smaller one would be easier. Still, for the coverage and the way it looks, it has made the walk MUCH more pleasant!
Carolyn Bridges
It has the coverage I wanted and came looking just as it should.
It has the coverage I wanted and came looking just as it should. The button works fine, although shortening the pole once the canopy shuts takes a fairly firm push. I watch my fingers doing that part. It's a small nuisance rather than a real problem, otherwise a good umbrella.

How much difference can an umbrella make?
How much difference can an umbrella make? I grew up in South Florida and spent years in the Navy, so being wet never seemed like much of an event. I mostly ignored umbrellas because the little folding ones I had tried hardly seemed worth carrying. I wasn't expecting to have a great revelation from this one.Well, I stand corrected! It feels substantial in my hand, yet I can still put it away in a bag. I had it out in a sudden burst of rain this morning and was quite pleased with myself for actually having brought it. Staying dry is apparently nicer than simply accepting a soaking. Who knew? The canopy gives me proper room underneath, and the loop grip feels secure rather than like something I am pinching between my fingers. Have also used it for shade in the sun and it does that job nicely. The button brings it up quickly; another press shuts the canopy, then I push the shaft in. The sleeve goes on without a wrestling match, which sounds trivial until you have fought with an awkward one. Very happy to have reconsidered my position on umbrellas.
Meagan Ibarra
Really pleased with this umbrella.
Really pleased with this umbrella. Handle is a bit short for me though, I'm 5'9" so my arms have to stay higher than with the others I've used.I do keep using it, haven't come across anything I like better so far. Out of the umbrellas I've bought this is one of the BEST. Very strong.
Glen Pittman
Sigh.
The novelty probably won't last forever but for now popping this umbrella open feels ridiculously satisfying. Out of its sleeve, thumb on the button, ready to take on the rain like I've been training for it. Only gripe is getting it neatly back into the sleeve afterwards, not quite the slick reverse move I had pictured. Sigh. Apparently my dramatic entrance is better practised than my exit.
Colleen Kline
A really lovely buy!
I treated myself to this before london, then discovered my bag was too small so it stayed home. Since coming back I've finally used it and its the one I reach for. The beige looks quite expensive in person. Friends have asked where it came from and are surprised when I tell them what I paid. A really lovely buy!
Tara Colon
So far, breezy rain hasn't given me any bother either.
One of those purchases that makes me wonder why I waited so long. It reminds me of having a proper umbrella when I was a teenager, something I actually liked carrying rather than just putting up with. The cover is good over my head and shoulders, and the frame feels substantial without making the whole thing enormous. The fabric looks durable and the button opens it positively. So far, breezy rain hasn't given me any bother either. No fiddling around trying to get it to stay open like some I've had. It's smart, practical and I'm delighted with it!
Cesar Campos
Coverage reaches my shoulders...
Really useful in those sudden Florida showers (as though the rain there needs any more encouragement). It has coped with the blustery weather I've been out in without turning upside down on me like my old flimsy ones. The gray still looks the same as when I got it, no washed out patches so far. Coverage reaches my shoulders... not just the top of my hair. And I really like that closed oval handle, a smart little change from an ordinary straight grip.
Nicholas Fuller
One note: compact doesn't mean tiny.
I wasn't sure about spending this much on an umbrella, especially a compact one. Having carried it through several wet and breezy days in Seattle, I'm glad I did. It feels solid without being awkward to manage, and I've found the coverage quite good for walking around. The flexible ribs give it a reassuring feel when the breeze picks up. My experience with little umbrellas hasn't been especially encouraging, so this has been a pleasant change. I'm hoping it will be with me for a long time. One note: compact doesn't mean tiny. Folded up, it still takes a fair amount of room in my backpack, so I'd check the folded length if you're expecting something that disappears into a small pocket. That hasn't been an issue for me, but it's worth knowing before you choose it.
Carla Stout
Once I get there it folds away without taking up too much space.
We were given ours for Christmas and it has turned out to be a really useful present. I walk a mile and a half to work, so I need an umbrella that is more than something to keep by the door. My backpack comes with me too and this gives me enough cover for myself and the bag. There are days when the rain seems to come sideways between the city buildings, and I can keep a good hold on this without constantly wrestling with it. I still try to angle the canopy towards the rain rather than just holding it straight up and hoping. The opening button is handy when I'm heading out with all my things for work. Once I get there it folds away without taking up too much space. I use an umbrella often enough that those little everyday things matter, and this has been a very good one to have!
Jaime Valencia
This is such a help.
I have arthritis bad in my hands and umbrellas can be difficult, especially carrying something else as well. This is such a help. The button puts it up and folds the canopy in again. I still need to push the telescoping section down myself before putting it away. Much easier for me to manage, I really don't want to use the old sort anymore.
Leon Bowman
I wanted a bigger umbrella than this compact one..
I usually look carefully at what I'm buying... Obviously missed the size this time. I wanted a bigger umbrella than this compact one.. My mistake. I ended up keeping it in my everyday bag instead, and being smaller made it really handy for that. Lesson learnt about reading what your buying, but I found a good use for this one.
Candice Ewing
He wants it for everything, not just rainy days.
My two year old decided that having his own umbrella was absolutely necessary. The last cheap one hadn't survived a week with him, so I wasn't expecting much this time either. I found a plain one at a sensible price and luckily he was happy with that. Well, it's now been here for, I think, three or four months and it still looks in good order. He wants it for everything, not just rainy days. It comes out when the sprinkler is going in the sunshine too, with me helping him use it. He has even decided it ought to accompany him to bed. Rather more use than I expected from an umbrella, and it's standing up to it.
Bill Arias
Good value for an umbrella that looks this tidy.
Good value for an umbrella that looks this tidy. The release button is quite prominent. it took a little thought about how I grip it so I don't press it unintentionally. I make sure it's properly folded before putting it away, and otherwise there's really not much to complain about.
Maria Barton
I wanted an umbrella with a more elegant look and this suits me.
I wanted an umbrella with a more elegant look and this suits me. A useful size without feeling enormous. I needed a little time to get comfortable with the oval handle, but that aside, over all it feels nicely made. I've had compliments when using it. The black is quite plain, so it's more understated than decorative, which is fine for me.
Jay Salas
:) :) It feels good quality and gives him a decent patch of shade.
Bought this for husband during our FL holiday.. arrived at the holiday address while we were there, which was handy...he uses an umbrella for shade since having skin cancer, often watching sports. We (family) liked the cream white, a bit less fussy looking for him. :) :) It feels good quality and gives him a decent patch of shade. He was very glad to have it as a gift.
Jane Gray
Me and that umbrella, we went through so much rain together.
Me and that umbrella, we went through so much rain together. She was my little patch of peace. Losing her left a little umbrella shaped hole in my heart. I don't think another canopy will ever understand me quite the same way. Friends, appreciate yours while she's there. That roof over your head is trying its best for you. It takes the rain so you don't have to. That's love, honestly.
Paula Hutchinson
A nice combination of coverage, carrying size and a colour I enjoy.
The open umbrella gives a good amount of cover without feeling like a big heavy thing in your hand. I can keep myself and a small child close beside me out of the rain, which is what I wanted. The beige is a nice change and looks cheerful to me even on a grey day. I think parents will appreciate how quickly it opens when you're trying to get everyone moving. It's sturdy enough for the rain we've had and it is useful for some shade as well. Folded up it doesn't need the space a long umbrella would, but once open it covers more than I expected from looking at it closed. A nice combination of coverage, carrying size and a colour I enjoy.
Tyler Conley
So a useful umbrella but the shade.
The umbrellas I ordered for Christmas presents are staying because they work well. The colour though, not what I expected. On my screen cream white looked barely off-white. In my hands it's CREAM. A much warmer cream. I wanted that pale look -almost plain white) not this. So a useful umbrella but the shade. Not quite what I thought I was getting.
Amanda Wood
Not a great big umbrella to haul about.
Not a great big umbrella to haul about. For the size it is easy enough to carry. Seems durable too if you treat it sensible. I been thinking about these little improvements for getting around Rhode Island, nobody seems much interested. The loop handle was the bit I wanted to see. Had that sort of idea myself then went looking online and THERE it is, already a thing. Not saying it is some major invention. Just useful when your daily traveling is walking and catching a bus or taxi, something compact you can keep hold of easily. I would recommend this kind for that. People will put up with awkward things all day but a small convenience somehow don't get noticed.
