I do sometimes have to lift it to check where I am going.

My previous umbrella needed opening by hand, so I wanted something similar in folded size without having to push it up myself. Heading out early on a cold wet morning is when the button makes most difference. I am over six feet tall and initially wondered whether a compact one would give me enough cover, but it has been quite adequate for ordinary rain. If the rain is coming towards me I angle the front down a little, which keeps my head and shoulders sheltered instead of letting it blow straight into my face. There is about 105cm of canopy across when it is up, so it is worth looking at the open size rather than judging it by how short it looks put away. It is not a huge walking umbrella, and I would not expect it to cover my legs. The ribs have some give in a breeze and so far it has been steady without feeling rigid. Pressing the button gets it up promptly, and another press draws the canopy shut. You still push the shaft back in by hand before putting it away, which is straightforward once you have done it. For my use the one improvement would be a clear section or two to look through when I have it tipped forward. I do sometimes have to lift it to check where I am going. Apart from that it suits me very well, and the old manual one can stay in the car as a spare.

Am very happy with it!

I hesitated over this umbrella after reading that folding it away could be a nuisance. My experience: It is NOT a battle to get it folded. Collapse the canopy with the button, shorten the stem by hand, then tidy the fabric, and it makes a neat little bundle. Getting that bundle into the sleeve is a different matter. I need to take my time with it, which isn't something I always want to do. Usually I leave the sleeve aside and pop the folded umbrella in my purse once it's dry. For me that is a small inconvenience compared with having such a pretty umbrella for shade. The beige looks lovely and it doesn't feel tiring to hold. Useful, attractive, and no regrets about ordering it after all. Am very happy with it!

I'm taking off a star mainly for the folded bulk.

... our eight year old soccer player approves, although it's mostly us using it on the sideline. I wasn't sure how much shade the gray canopy would give, but sitting under it has been comfortable. The shape looks a little more domed in person than I expected. One adult has a decent amount of room, and our little player can squeeze alongside when needed, though two adults would have to stay close. A couple of other parents asked my wife about it (she was the one who chose it), so apparently she made a good sideline purchase. I'm taking off a star mainly for the folded bulk. It's compact compared with a full length umbrella, but still takes more room in the sports bag than I allowed for. The button is handy when we need cover quickly, and it has been useful for both showers and sun. Just don't expect it to disappear into a tiny corner of the bag.

Finally an umbrella I'm completely happy with.

Finally an umbrella I'm completely happy with. Looks nice and does it job when the rain comes. Keeps me nice and dry. My favorite so far ( just my opinion ). I'd happily recommend it to anyone thinking about one. Wish I had stopped putting off getting it a lot sooner.

This feels SOLID!!!

Usually, I look at the frame first because colors can distract from how something is put together. This feels SOLID!!!The beige looks fine but its the size /folding down that interests me, those two things together... worth looking at. Not a giant GOLF umbrella, and I wouldnt pretend a compact one is, but for carrying round town its a sensible balance. Have not put it through coastal weather, just regular rain, so thats where my opinion stops....Feels substantial in the hand without being some huge thing to lug around. Enough from me

Now im thinking one for me too, its a handy thing and looks good

This was a present for my brother (the medieval history one with all the swords)and i checked it over first because i didnt want it to feel like a cheap novelty. The frame is more substantial than i expected and that oval handle does look quite unusual. He loved it!! Now im thinking one for me too, its a handy thing and looks good

It feels nicely made and is straightforward to open&fold the canopy.

Rain isn't really why I bought it,I wanted shade for my skin when I'm out in the desert heat. It feels nicely made and is straightforward to open&fold the canopy. Some comments had me expecting an awkward heavy thing, but it hasn't felt that way to me. I can hold it comfortably and don't find carrying it around a problem at all.

Stanley Duran

The loop handle is handy when we stop for a moment.

My toddler wanted an umbrella for our rainy walks, so we went with the beige one.DURABLEAbout a year of use now and it has coped with being carried about and dropped without much care.OPENINGI do the button and folding rather than leave that part to little fingers. One press opens it, another closes the canopy, then I push the pole in myself. The loop handle is handy when we stop for a moment. This isn't a tiny toddler umbrella, so I generally hold it for us on our walks. It has been great for rainy days and taking a few pictures along the way.

Not heavy to carry, which suits our usual rain in Louisiana.

Wasn't sure after reading a few mixed comments; but, ordered four because the price seemed fair.Am VERY happy with them. Not heavy to carry, which suits our usual rain in Louisiana.I'm not testing them in wild wind, just needing something handy that keeps the rain off, and these have been great!

I've carried this through the rainy seasons in New York and it has been a very useful umbrella. The loop handle sits comfortably in my hand, and the frame has coped well with the windy rain I've been out in. I like all the flexible ribs, it gives a solid feeling without making it too much to put in my bag.I would happily choose this again and would like one for each person in my family.

Phyllis Hartman

The blue looks really good too.

We started with one umbrella and ended up getting another because the kids both wanted to be the one carrying it. Its a nice umbrella, although its more a regular folding one than a little preschool size. Once its up they like being under it and there is room to keep their shoulders dry. The blue looks really good too.Cons - A BIT bulky for small hands, and they need help putting it away. The button shuts the canopy, then an adult needs to press the pole down to pack it properly. Not something I would expect a 2 or 5 year old to manage by themselves anyway. Both umbrellas are doing their job and the kids are happy, so I can live with helping them out.

Guy Cantrell

Mine is roughly 390g.

The weight is more noticeable than I expected, so someone wanting a very light umbrella might want to consider that. Mine is roughly 390g. The button position took a little practice for me, although it opens and closes the canopy without difficulty. So generally, I find it comfortable enough now and am pleased with the substantial feel.

Margaret Mosley

Definitely worth bringing along!

This umbrella has become the thing I take along whenever the sky looks doubtful. I like the oval loop handle, and the sleeve keeps it together when folded. Sounds silly, but I carried it on a cloudy day even though I wasn't sure I'd need it. I took it on the walk to get food this week, a few blocks in the rain, and my jacket stayed dry on both journeys. Definitely worth bringing along!

Yvonne Solomon

Best umbrella I've had so far.

Best umbrella I've had so far. Small enough for my bag or the storage space in the car door, but it gives me proper cover when the rain gets heavy. I especially like being able to shut the canopy with the button. There's something satisfying about arriving at the building and having that done while other people are still wrestling with theirs outside.

Karla Lowery

How could I complain?

For years I just put up with getting wet instead of carrying an umbrella. Having this one has changed that a bit, I actually remember to take it out. It opens with a button, fits neatly away, and looks rather cute for something so practical. How could I complain?

Jamie Hines

I'm fussy about umbrellas, I don't want one that looks dull.

I'm fussy about umbrellas, I don't want one that looks dull. Looks aren't much use though if it can't cope with the weather here.So far this one has been very steady on breezy walks, and the black fabric with that oval loop handle has a smart look that I really like.

Bryan Carson

The pink is lovely too.

One of my friends admired this so much that I now have her birthday gift sorted. I wanted an umbrella for shade as much as rain (I have a skin condition), and this gives me a comfortable patch of cover without carrying a giant one around. It has felt steady in normal breezes and the ribs have some flexibility, though I wouldn't expect any umbrella to be indestructible in rough weather. The pink is lovely too. I'd happily recommend it to someone who enjoys being outside but wants a bit of shelter from either sunshine or showers.Pink folding umbrella

The button for opening & closing the canopy works very nice.

Finally an umbrella I am happy to use, was looking a long time for something strong and this seems the one. Opens up with good cover and already been out when it was raining cats & dogs, stayed dry underneath. The button for opening & closing the canopy works very nice. Overall a purchase I am glad I made....

Jacqueline Tanner

Plain canopy, that funny oval handle.

If you fancy looking a little more put-together on a wet day, the beige does the trick. Plain canopy, that funny oval handle. It is SO much more restrained than my usual taste that I'm rather enjoying the novelty. Amusing myself aside, it works properly and feels sturdy.

Tristan Patton

This has been a very sensible size for me.

I'd had enough of the flimsy umbrellas picked up at conferences and such, and decided it was time to get one I actually chose. This has been a very sensible size for me. It goes in my backpack without rearranging the entire contents, then opens wide enough to keep one person reasonably covered. I wouldn't buy it expecting to share it with somebody else. For a really heavy downpour I would still choose a bigger umbrella, but having this in my bag is much better than getting caught with nothing. The construction looks good so far, though obviously time will tell how it lasts. Best part for me is the button opening. My old little umbrella needed both hands to get it up, which was a pain when it was already raining. Somehow I'm always holding a bag, a phone or something else, so being able to open this with one hand makes a bigger difference than you'd think..

Ana Vargas

It has also coped with windy rain without inverting on me.

Everything matched the description when it arrived, and delivery was within the time I expected. The umbrella is a good everyday quality and has been working reliably for six months now. It has also coped with windy rain without inverting on me. Based on the umbrella and the straightforward purchase, I have nothing to complain about and would be comfortable ordering from the same seller again.

Shelia Colon

I thought they were very good value.

Two of these were Christmas presents, one for my Mother and one for my sister. Both have been delighted! The finish looks good before you even open them, and they DO feel substantial. They've held up well on windy, wet days too. I thought they were very good value.

A little shade does EVERYONE some good!

Love having this for shade, even if I do think the price is a bit much, But honestly!More people should think about keeping the sun off when they're outside. A little shade does EVERYONE some good! The pink top looks lovely with the black underneath. Open it up and you've got your own patch of shade instead of standing there squinting. I've spent ages looking around for something I would actually carry, and this suits me. Give yourself a break from the sun!

Jasmine Lowe

Probably the nicest looking umbrella I've had for shade.

Probably the nicest looking umbrella I've had for shade. That said, putting it away takes more effort than I expected. The canopy closes with the button, then I have to press the shaft down myself. It should suit the two week trip I'm planning, and it feels sturdy enough for ordinary use. Worth the money, just not quite as effortless to pack away as I'd imagined.

Jasmine Robinson

Thank you for such a well made umbrella.

Hello! Very pleased with this umbrella, which my wife and I plan to take for the summer in Europe. For us the size is just right, enough to walk close together beneath it without carrying something enormous. It springs open quickly and the frame seems very solid. Now I wish I had added a second one. Hopefully we will have it for many years. Thank you for such a well made umbrella. I have put a photo beside the 80 cm doorway to make its size a little easier to judge.

My four year old granddaughter is fascinated by umbrellas.

My four year old granddaughter is fascinated by umbrellas. Finding this pretty pink one was a real treat. She wants it out nearly every day, whether we have Florida sunshine or rain. She enjoys having shade over her head just as much as splashing about when it's wet. A very successful gift.

Joanne Cooley

This umbrella has been a good buy on those days.

Working in Chicago means some of my walks to work are both wet and windy. This umbrella has been a good buy on those days. I've passed plenty of discarded umbrellas and felt glad I paid for something that feels solid rather than grabbing the cheapest thing available. My one reservation is the coverage when I have my large bag with me. I'm average sized and stay dry myself, but the bag can stick out beyond the edge and catch some rain. Otherwise I've been happy with it. It packs into that same bag without trouble, so at least carrying it when the rain stops is easy.

Linda Holloway

This feels solid and useful, and the black looks smart.

This feels solid and useful, and the black looks smart. The cost was reasonable too. My grandson was miserable about his old umbrella breaking, so I found this replacement. He's especially taken with the loop handle. It's a simple design but still has a little character to it.

Jonathon Dickson

Overall quite pleased with it.

The green caught my eye, it seemed a cheerful choice. I did imagine a deeper shade for the money, but i still like it. I'm only 5'1 and don't need an enormous umbrella. This gives me enough shelter without feeling like I'm carrying something meant for a golf course. It feels neatly put together, and the button works nicely to open it and fold the canopy again. Overall quite pleased with it.

Bob Allen

Worth the extra money to me.

Worth the extra money to me. It's taken the winds here (upstate New York) in stride, and the button control is handy when opening or collapsing the canopy. I don't normally spend this much, but it has lasted, whereas umbrellas usually have a short life with me.

Mitchell Murphy

Mine feels like a proper grown up umbrella!

"I was so excited when this came because I wanted an umbrella of my own. This one is my favorite now. It opens really quickly and I love using the button! My brother's umbrella isn't as much fun to open. Mine feels like a proper grown up umbrella!"--My daughter, age 8. It is a folding umbrella, but not a little child's sized one, so don't expect tiny! The open canopy covers her with room left over and is enough for me too. She can press the button, while I help with pushing the pole down once the canopy is closed. For a teenager I would be comfortable with the size. Look at how it folds and how much they want to carry rather than assuming it is only for small children.

Scott Fields

Overall a nice umbrella, just not quite the color I imagined.

I ordered this because the design had a bit of charm to it. The blue is nice, although i had pictured a deeper shade for the money. I am petite, just 5'1", and the open size suits me well. It doesn't feel like carrying a huge golf umbrella, but there is enough canopy to keep me dry. The automatic opening and canopy closing have been smooth. Overall a nice umbrella, just not quite the color I imagined.

Travis Figueroa

Lovely blue umbrella, good looking as well as useful.

Lovely blue umbrella, good looking as well as useful. Several umbrellas I've owned struggled with the gusty weather here at the tip of Texas. This one has kept its shape nicely so far. I especially like the loop handle. It clips onto my backpack so I don't have to keep hold of it when not in use.

Madeline Horne

Some more use will tell.

Usually I am the person with a small umbrella pushed into a purse, something practical and not much to look at, but this one caught my attention. The gray is simple and the oval handle makes it look a little different -not fussy but still nice-. I had steady rain the day after it came so it got tried straight away, and the coverage was good for me and what I was carrying (which is really the important bit ). It isn't the smallest folded umbrella I have had but I don't mind that for the extra cover. So overall I am happy with it, it does feel like a nicer thing to take out. My reason for four stars rather than five is mostly a question of how the fabric will last -it seems quite light and I am used to a different feel on my little ones?-nothing has gone wrong, I am just a little unsure yet. Some more use will tell.

The Haven compact umbrella has been a good everyday performer.

The Haven compact umbrella has been a good everyday performer. Its canopy gives one adult comfortable coverage on the walk from the parking lot to work, and two can squeeze underneath for a short dash. It is also handy when watching a child's game from the sidelines. The flexible frame feels reassuring, although I would not treat a compact umbrella as storm equipment. My reason for stopping at four stars is the grip. The oval handle could use a little more room for my hand, especially when the weather gets gusty here in the upper Midwest.

Lori Hanna

Closing the canopy takes one press as well.

I've had an automatic umbrella for years and now I'd find it hard to go without one. Somehow the rain always starts when I'm carrying too much to be fiddling with an umbrella. Being able to get the canopy open with a thumb press makes such a difference. My husband keeps borrowing mine and I always worry he'll put it down and forget it somewhere. I was pleased to find this one for my son, who's at college, and he likes the convenience just as much as I do. Closing the canopy takes one press as well. The telescoping section still needs to be pressed together manually, which is perfectly fine with me; once the fabric is gathered, I can step indoors and finish that part there. It covers one person comfortably without becoming a huge folded bundle. Fits in a backpack or a roomy purse, so it is actually worth taking along.

LOVE OURS!

When we brought the umbrella along my daughter and her teammates thought it was GREAT. We keep getting questions about where it came from, everytime its out someone notices it. Useful for a patch of shade as well as keeping the rain off, and folds down nicely too. LOVE OURS!

Jonathan Pratt

all together it has a nice solid feel for what I paid.

thought it might feel flimsy for the money. Once i unpacked it, the construction was the first thing that surprised me, much more substantial than expected. The ribs have a bit of flex and the canopy stitching looks tidy and secure. all together it has a nice solid feel for what I paid.

- The push-button operation is good.

After getting fed up with the rather flimsy umbrellas from the university shop, I wanted something I wouldn't immediately be looking to replace. I'm a student so it still needed to fit with all the other stuff I carry. This one is much more reassuring to use, and looks quite neat as well.If you want a compact umbrella for the usual showers rather than something to hide under in every possible kind of weather, I'd happily recommend it. A few things worth knowing before you buy: - Folded up it doesn't demand much room, but that does mean you aren't getting an enormous amount of cover. With a big backpack on, the back of the bag can end up sticking outside the sheltered bit. A smaller bag is less of an issue. You can keep yourself covered or try to shelter all your stuff, but sometimes not both, depending on which way the rain is coming from. - In heavier rain I wouldn't expect to arrive with completely dry trousers. Water can still get in round the sides, especially lower down. For ordinary showers it has kept me dry though, which was the whole point of replacing the old ones. - The push-button operation is good. It springs open without a struggle, and pressing again brings the canopy in. You do have to push the shaft back yourself afterwards, which is straightforward once you know that's the last step. - The oval loop takes a slightly different grip from my old umbrella. I did fiddle about trying different ways of holding it (probably more testing than necessary :P). Once I stopped overthinking it, it was comfortable enough. No complaints after actually carrying it around.

No regrets about spending a little more :-)

Living in the Bay Area means some winter weeks seem to be nothing but rain. I wanted an umbrella I could actually rely on through drizzle, downpours and a bit of wind, rather than another bargain one that gives up straight away. This has been a much better buy than the cheap ones I kept replacing. No regrets about spending a little more :-)

Roger Marshall

What a gorgeous umbrella!

What a gorgeous umbrella! It hasn't had its first outing with me yet, but I'm already hoping for a little rain. The beige looks so elegant spread out; something about the neat shape just makes me smile. It gives more cover than I expected from a folding umbrella, so my walks by the river should be a good place to try it rather than squeezing past people on narrow pavements.I liked it enough to buy a second one. Mostly I'm picturing those gentle rainy days, although I can see myself carrying it for shade too. Never thought I'd be standing indoors admiring an umbrella and wishing for an excuse to take it out! :-)

Alice Collins

Honestly, this is the nicest umbrella I have had.

Honestly, this is the nicest umbrella I have had. Apparently other people agree, since leaving it unattended seems to be an invitation for somebody to walk off with it! At the golf club too, of all places! You would think people there could bring their own...It's a useful size and feels properly made, too. My only advice is to keep an eye on it rather than assume it will still be where you left it. I certainly intend to be more careful with this one.

Tina Beltran

the automatic opening is handy when i'm heading out.

for something that fits in my backpack, it feels reassuringly solid. i get the train and walk a fair bit through the city, so it's already had some use in rain and wind and i've been happy with it. the automatic opening is handy when i'm heading out. might pick up a few as presents for people at work. only little niggle is folding the fabric neatly to get it back in the sleeve, takes me a moment. once it's packed away it doesn't take over my bag. plenty of cover for my walks too.

Paul Whitehead

At last, an umbrella I can manage comfortably on a breezy walk!

At last, an umbrella I can manage comfortably on a breezy walk! It's kept the rain off during the wet weather lately, without me constantly shifting it around. I can keep my view of the path clear and don't feel as though I'm forever getting in everyone's way. Much easier to walk along with.

Virginia Hicks

This has been a great umbrella for me.

This has been a great umbrella for me. At first I wondered if it would feel too big to carry around. There is a bit of weight to it, but it feels solid rather than awkward. I've had it out on a windy, rainy day and it stayed in shape. The coverage meant my shoulders weren't getting wet, which happens with smaller umbrellas. The button opening is handy when you're already getting rained on. I'd happily recommend it.

Morgan Schwartz

These are handy umbrellas.

These are handy umbrellas. My walk from the car to work is over a mile, so decent cover matters. This one covers me and most of my backpack without being awkward to hold. It has kept its shape through the breezy wet days I've used it in. Folds down neatly for carrying afterwards too. definitely money well spent!!!

Christy Allison

I did have a question about closing it, so I sent a message.

There's not much to add about the umbrella itself, it feels well made and does the job. I did have a question about closing it, so I sent a message. After several days without hearing anything I was getting annoyed and asked again. The reply explained that the button folds the canopy and you compress the telescoping section yourself. I had been expecting it all to retract automatically, which was my mistake. Once that was clear there was no trouble using it. Would have liked a quicker reply, but in the end I got the help I needed and I'm satisfied.

Clarence Craig

Feels solid when I'm holding it, not flimsy.

A little bigger than the tiny umbrellas people tuck in a purse, but I think the extra room is worth having. I live in DC, so flimsy umbrellas are no use when the wind gets going. BUT this one has been with me for two years and still works as it should. Feels solid when I'm holding it, not flimsy. It lives in the side bottle holder on my backpack so I don't get caught out when the weather changes. Very glad I went with this one.

Cameron Gay

Bought it to keep walking to work when the weather isn't great.

Bought it to keep walking to work when the weather isn't great. Gives good cover for head/shoulders without having to peer around the edge all the time. Feels reassuring in a breeze too. There is some weight on a longer walk- I'd like a softer place for the fingers(a bit of padding on the grip), though I do like the closed loop handle.

Frances Morales

Not the fanciest umbrella I've had, but it does the job.

Not the fanciest umbrella I've had, but it does the job. I'd been hanging on to a little umbrella for ages because I couldn't settle on a replacement. The price finally persuaded me to try this one, even after reading some less than happy comments. The fabric feels rather thin, rain still stays out non the less. Plenty of space over me and another person, or three heads if everyone huddles in. For what it costs I'm happy enough with it.One thing about the logo, it's on just one panel and doesn't catch the eye nearly as much as those comments had me expecting. I would recommend it to anyone after a useful umbrella for regular rain.
