Nothing wrong with the basic quality, but it hasn't quite matched what i had in mind for the money. i was expecting a fabric with a nicer, more expensive feel, whereas this feels fairly ordinary. overall it's usable and reasonably made, just not as special as the price led me to expect.

My only gripe is the folded length.
Chicago weather has been hard on my umbrellas, so this one feels like a step up. It's coped well with the gusts I've had so far and gives me decent cover. My only gripe is the folded length. It doesn't disappear into a small bag the way I hoped and can be a nuisance carrying it when the rain stops.
Theodore Oliver
So glad I tried this for games!!
So glad I tried this for games!! Sitting with the sun straight on me used to be miserable. Under this umbrella I'm shaded and much more comfortable, especially when there's a little breeze. It's easy enough to carry along too, rather than deciding it isn't worth the trouble. I love having it!

For six dollars this umbrella has been a very good buy.
For six dollars this umbrella has been a very good buy. I wouldn't be nearly as enthusiastic at the twenty-plus price I've seen now!The size is reasonable, not like those tiny bargain umbrellas. It looks good and the way it's put together seems decent too. The materials feel respectable, although I wouldn't describe it as heavy duty.My son is pleased with it, and getting it at that price makes me happy as well. A purchase I'm glad I made.

Fine in rain, not my favorite umbrella.
OK coverage. Feels solid. YES mine had a rubber sort of smell at first. Left it open to air instead of shoving it back in the sleeve. [ I reckon the MATERIAL is the source.] That helped a fair amount but hasn't got rid of it completely. Still usable and maybe more time will do the rest.I'm not keen on the oval handle either, doesn't sit quite right in my hand. Would prefer a different grip but no plans to mess about with this one. Fine in rain, not my favorite umbrella.

Having some shade was fantastic!
I took it to my son's baseball game on a really hot day. Having some shade was fantastic! Enough room for two sitting close, which was handy. It doesn't weigh much in my hand either, so keeping it up while I watched wasn't a bother. Much nicer than being right in the sun.
Devon Vasquez
Feels solid when it's open and the button works well.
Impressed so far. It's been out in two storms with me, so this isn't a long term verdict. I was unsure whether a folding umbrella would cover enough, but I have stayed dry underneath it. Feels solid when it's open and the button works well. I'll come back to this if anything changes. It's quite fun feeling it move with the breeze, though I still pay attention to which way I'm holding it. Worth practising the closing indoors first: the button brings the canopy down, and you push the shaft in yourself ready for next time.
Mercedes Reid
A useful size, sturdy feel, and nice to look at.
I've used this for nearly a year and mostly really like it. A useful size, sturdy feel, and nice to look at. My annoyance is how I hold it when putting it away. The button is right where my fingers seem to want to go, so I have to keep adjusting my grip while gathering the fabric. It works fine, just makes the whole folding up business a little fussier than I want!
Albert Mcdonald
Happy to recommend it.
My old umbrella lasted about 2 years before the joints gave up; while sorting that out I tried this one; it seems sturdier, and takes up less room in the car. I keep it tucked away there so it's ready when needed...!. Cost less than my previous one too. Happy to recommend it.

The push to open action is a nice touch when I'm juggling my backpack.
Finding a bag sized umbrella that doesn't feel disposable has been harder than it ought to be. This one has been a good balance so far, sturdy enough for the weather I've had and convenient between college classes. The push to open action is a nice touch when I'm juggling my backpack.

I don't quite see why people find it difficult.
I don't quite see why people find it difficult. My friend is delighted with hers and had no trouble once she'd spotted the button. Folding everything neatly for the sleeve does take a little arranging, but she doesn't mind doing that. She thinks it's lovely, and other people have said so as well. I tend to be more interested in whether an umbrella works than how it looks, but it certainly suits her.
Marie Nolan
What a lovely umbrella for a little girl.
What a lovely umbrella for a little girl. My granddaughter is delighted with hers and keeps hoping for rain so she can take it out. She enjoys carrying it on sunny walks as well, and it makes a nice patch of shade. She gives it a little twirl and feels very grown up, which is everything when you're four!It arrived so quickly too, thank you!
Rachel Shepard
Seeing her so pleased was worth it.
My mother has a collection of umbrellas and was delighted to add this to it. Now she's wishing for wet weather so she can show her friends! Seeing her so pleased was worth it. She's 84 and worked out the push button without needing my help. I'm starting to think I ought to have one myself

No proper chance to try this in the rain yet.
No proper chance to try this in the rain yet. Here in DC we're coming up to Easter, and of course the wet weather stopped just as I got an umbrella. I do like the look of it, though, and I'm looking forward to carrying it. My usual problem is finding something between an enormous umbrella and a tiny one that barely covers my shoulders. This seems a sensible middle size when I open it indoors. The folded length is my one reservation; I'd prefer less to fit into a bag. Until I get some actual rain I can only judge the feel and size, and those seem good.
Crystal Scott
For what I spent, I am glad I picked it up.
I paid a good price for this umbrella and wanted something that wouldn't be a nuisance to carry. I had hoped it might cover two people, but really it is better for one, unless you are happy being very close together. On a busy sidewalk that size makes more sense anyway. It isn't tiny when folded and has a bit more weight than I had imagined, though still quite manageable. If I'd bothered to meause before ordering I would have had a better idea. For what I spent, I am glad I picked it up. I'd suggest it for everyday rain, rather than anybody wanting a HUGE umbrella for several people.
Terrence Marquez
I would certainly recommend this umbrella.
This has met my expectations very well! The structure feels solid, the 30 ribs give the canopy good support, and the automatic opening is particularly convenient. It has coped well with everyday breezes and been useful for both rain and shade. For the price, I am impressed with the overall finish.
It also arrived neatly packed and in good condition, which made a positive first impression. Everything was straightforward when I took it out and tried it. It is reassuring to receive something that feels carefully put together and is simple to use. I would certainly recommend this umbrella.

Otherwise it's a GREAT umbrella and she's actually happy to carry it!
My daughter had an animal umbrella for years, but she wanted something less childish now she's getting older. We chose the cream white and she really likes the plain look. The button is easier for her than wrestling with her old umbrella, and it gives her enough cover without feeling enormous. Only niggle is putting it away neatly. She can close the canopy herself, but pressing the pole fully down takes a little help from me. Otherwise it's a GREAT umbrella and she's actually happy to carry it!

Light rain and a proper steady shower have been fine.
The gray one has been a dependable everyday umbrella, with the usual qualification that an umbrella covers the top of you, not every inch of you. Light rain and a proper steady shower have been fine. When rain is coming at your legs from the side, your legs are getting wet. This isn't really the umbrella's fault, although I have certainly looked up at it accusingly.
The interesting part for me is how much give there is in the frame. A strong gust managed to turn the canopy over, which looked fairly alarming at the time. Once I got it facing the sensible direction again, though, I couldn't find any damage. I'd rather have some flexibility than a frame that insists on being rigid until something snaps.
Getting it back into shape was much less of a production than I expected. I stopped, lowered an edge to the pavement and eased it back over. A few seconds of looking ridiculous and I was carrying on. With a little practice, that movement can be done without making a whole roadside demonstration of it. There is probably a graceful version. Mine is not that version. Working out your technique before you're already soaked would be my advice. Also, nobody seems particularly impressed by clever umbrella handling when they're busy trying to keep their own shoes dry. A disappointing lack of appreciation for the arts, but there we are.
I'm not expecting any handheld umbrella to replace getting indoors when the weather becomes genuinely horrible. What I want is something that handles normal rain and doesn't become rubbish after an awkward gust. This has done that, and I'm satisfied with it on those terms. The flexible ribs also give it a little spring when shaking the water off, which is oddly entertaining. You take your entertainment where you can get it on a wet walk.
After a long stretch of regular use, the reason I needed another was that I managed to leave it behind, not that it had stopped doing its job. It had been carried and opened often, rather than spending its life safely in a cupboard. The folded size suited everyday carrying and the gray wasn't attention seeking. I'd replace it with the same thing without much deliberation. Unfortunately, being easy to carry doesn't prevent me from putting an umbrella down and walking away from it.
Leonard Neal
The loop handle seemed useful, which is what drew me to this one.
The loop handle seemed useful, which is what drew me to this one. My previous umbrella had faded and was becoming awkward to operate. I am very satisfied with the understated black colour and how smoothly this canopy moves. The sleeve is useful for putting it away. There was a noticeable new-material smell at first, something to consider if you are sensitive to that.
Jordan Galloway
One press and this one is up, which I love.
Too many umbrellas have left me fumbling around in the rain trying to get them open. One press and this one is up, which I love. Another press pulls the canopy in, then I push the shaft down myself. It stays in the car and doesn't need much space there. A little heavier than I'd choose for a travel bag, but for how smoothly it works I consider it money well spent.
Rick Koch
It gives their heads and bodies good cover, which is the main thing.
I hadn't paid enough attention to the folded size before choosing this. (My fault!) It's a bit bigger to carry than I had in mind, but seems sturdy enough for the money. My 5-year-old likes holding it, and my 7-year-old is even keener to take it out when it rains. I help with the button and putting it away rather than leave them to do everything. It gives their heads and bodies good cover, which is the main thing. Still doesn't stop either of them finding every puddle with their feet though. :)
Sierra Stark
Pretty umbrella and it keeps me dry.
Pretty umbrella and it keeps me dry. My main niggle is packing it away: the canopy closes at the button, but the shaft needs a firm push by hand. Getting the folded fabric neat enough for the sleeve is also a bit fiddly. I like using it, just wish putting it away felt as easy as opening it.
Tonya Macdonald
The cream white looks nice too.
The automatic opening and canopy closing are my favourite part of this umbrella. The cream white looks nice too. I have small hands and the oval handle is comfortable to hold, not awkwardly wide like my previous umbrella. I'd be happy to get the same one whenever this eventually needs replacing.

Really pleased with this umbrella - the gray is lovely, it feels solid and it actually works as an umbrella too. I ordered it for a photo shoot and had a lot of fun using it. Now it will be coming along on rainy days instead of just being a prop. Good value, especially since I can get proper use out of it afterwards!
Katie Maldonado
It arrived at a good time and the umbrella itself seems quite solid.
It arrived at a good time and the umbrella itself seems quite solid. The part I am not so sure about is the handle, the oval bit where you hold it. it is different from the curved handles I am used to, and I keep shifting my fingers around until I find a comfortable way to carry it. The button is handy though, and the cover is a good size when it is up. My six year old thinks it is wonderful and wants to be the one carrying it, with me helping. But , I'm the Mom who ends up holding it when it gets breezy! Overall, pleased with it, just not my favourite shape of handle.
Dalton Burke
Pretty Gray and does what it should.
Pretty Gray and does what it should. I didn't pay attention to the size before buying. Folded it's larger than I had in mind. Won't go in my purse, a backpack or messenger bag might be better. Kept it any way because I really like the colour. Came nicely packed and on time.
Paula Carlson
It turned out to be what I expected .
It turned out to be what I expected . The cover is big enough for me with my laptop bag tucked beside me, no need to leave the bag sticking out in rain. The oval handle isn't the curved kind i normally reach for, but it is comfortable enough in use. I don't use my umbrellas as walking sticks so the tip is not a big concern to me. It cost more than the basic ones I used before, and so far I think the difference is worth it. Here in west central Florida rain can really come down. It did its job on the last wet day and that sold me on it. I would consider keeping a second in my other car rather than getting caught without one.

Am pleased with the umbrella itself BUT the packaging seemed far bigger than necessary, so much empty space for a folding item. That part was annoying when clearing customs, not what I expected at all, anyway the umbrella is nicely made and I am glad to have it.
Gary Evans
The sleeve is handy too.
Love this umbrella even though it isn't the smallest folded thing to carry about. I'm in NYC and it's served me well on wet, blustery days. HIGHLY recommend! The loop handle is a clever idea, it's closed rather than that long hook shape (much easier to keep hold of). The sleeve is handy too.I always laugh at those wind machine umbrella demonstrations where the person looks about to fly off along with it.Real rain is what matters to me and this has done its job. Also impressed by how substantial the ribs feel without making it rigid.Buy it!

Ordered one each for my wife and myself.
Ordered one each for my wife and myself. For what they cost I think they are a sensible buy. We haven't owned them long enough to say much about durability, and neither has been tested in really rough wind. In use it feels reasonably light, yet there is enough to it that it does not seem flimsy. I would not describe it as a luxury umbrella, and the feel in the hand is fairly ordinary, but that is more or less what I expected for the price. It keeps the rain off. If it gives us a couple of years I will be satisfied.
Roy Hughes
It feels substantial and gives her lots of cover.
My four year old was delighted to unwrap this at Christmas and loves the pink. It feels substantial and gives her lots of cover. I help with it rather than letting her manage it alone, especially pushing the shaft down after the canopy closes. That part takes a bit of strength, but otherwise it's a lovely umbrella and she is very happy with it.
Alison Blevins
I'd be happy to recommend it.
I've always liked a plain black umbrella, and this is a good one to have along. There is enough cover for me and whatever I'm carrying if I keep it close, rather than trying to hold everything outside the canopy. The frame feels substantial and has been fine in blustery rain. Still looks good too. I'd be happy to recommend it.
Earl Tucker
A good sturdy handle makes quite a difference to me.
First impression, the fabric is lighter than I expected and you can see the stitching quite clearly around the edge. Not necessarily a problem, just something I noticed. The handle is the stronger point for me, it feels solid and secure in my hand. That is why I gave four stars. A good sturdy handle makes quite a difference to me.

A birthday choice that worked out very well!
My eldest daughter is nearly six now and has started deciding that lots of her old favourites are baby things, although rainbows and unicorns are still very much allowed. Those two subjects usually make it into her first conversation with anybody. Meanwhile her sister has a blue umbrella, bought with money she saved herself, and there has been quite a bit of jealousy over that whenever it rains.
At the craft shop recently she spotted some very cheap umbrellas and wanted to spend her money on one. I wasn't convinced it would last, but instead of getting into that I mentioned her birthday coming up and suggested she wait. Then of course I got home and realised I had rather committed myself to finding an umbrella for her birthday.
After looking through quite a few I settled on this blue one. It isn't decorated with either of her favourite things, but she was delighted with it anyway. Having her own was clearly the important part! She likes the button for opening it and it packs away neatly when we come indoors.
Now the sisters can both have their umbrellas out without an argument about sharing. That probably sounds like a small thing but it makes a difference when you're already trying to get everyone ready in wet weather. The quality compares nicely with her sister's and I thought it was good value for what I paid. A birthday choice that worked out very well!

I'm already thinking about getting another colour ...
I'm delighted with this umbrella - the blue is such a cheerful change on a grey day. It's a straightforward colour that goes with most of what I wear, which I appreciate. There is enough room underneath to keep me covered, and the fabric feels good. I'm already thinking about getting another colour ...
Sydney Baldwin
definitely an umbrella I'd recommend!
Having a decent amount of cover makes such a difference in the rain. This opens out to a good size, with room for my partner if we stand close together. I've been using it about a month now through our changeable wet, breezy weather and It has stayed dependable. For the price, the construction and the coverage are better than I expected... definitely an umbrella I'd recommend!

Better than getting drenched.
Getting caught in the rain here in Afghanistan is no fun, so I'm glad I have this along. Went with beige since it fits in with the rest of my things. So far it has been trouble free -- easy to carry around and useful to have when the weather changes. Better than getting drenched.

Watching a demonstration of it opening made me curious, but the coverage is what sold me. I use a wheel chair and needed something I could manage while sitting, not an enormous umbrella sticking out behind me. Held over me this covers my upper body and a good bit of my lap, which is what I was wanting. The gray isn't very exciting, I am more bothered about staying dry anyway. Their is plenty to like about how it handles and I think it was money well spent.

After some looking I chose this one.
My train commute calls for an umbrella that won't take over my bag, especially with the rain we get in Texas. After some looking I chose this one. Here's my take on it.GOOD- folds down to a manageable size- opening with the button is quick and convenient- sleeve is useful for putting it awayBAD- the close button brings the canopy down, not the whole shaft, so finishing the job still takes both hands- you need to push the shaft all the way back before the opening button is ready again- a bit heavier in my bag than I expected. It's doing what it's meant to, just not quite the one handed routine I had pictured

For what I paid, I think it is excellent value.
I spent a good while comparing folding umbrellas before settling on this one. The flexible ribs, manageable folded size and weight were what persuaded me, since I wanted something for shade that I would actually bother carrying. I like the beige top with the black underneath, too. It makes a pleasant patch of shade, and I prefer that darker interior to looking up into something bright.
After using it for a while, I have become quite attached to it! It comes along on walks, to the farmer's market and to the fair, all those places where you find yourself in sunshine with nowhere convenient to duck under. Skin cancer has affected my family, so being thoughtful about time in the sun is personal for me, not just a matter of feeling a bit hot.
It is comfortable to carry for a decent walk, and gives me useful shade over my head and shoulders. This is a compact umbrella rather than a huge sunshade, but my husband and I can get close together underneath when we need to. I find the oval loop comfortable to hold, and opening it with a button is especially welcome when my other hand is occupied. Folded up, it is much less awkward to bring along than a long umbrella.
My husband and I were very grateful for it at the fair. Having some shade while we stood around made such a difference, without needing to hunt for a sheltered spot every time.
For what I paid, I think it is excellent value. I still take my other sun precautions, but for someone who gets uncomfortable in direct sunshine and wants shade they can bring with them, I would recommend it with real enthusiasm!

There's a surprising amount of room once this umbrella is up.
There's a surprising amount of room once this umbrella is up. Two of us can squeeze underneath if we stay close, which is useful. It isn't the shortest compact umbrella when folded, but I can still take it along without too much trouble. The sleeve is included, which I wanted, though getting the fabric wrapped neatly enough to slide it in takes a little patience. That's the main reason I'm giving it four rather than five.
John Kidd
Great to take along!
Still haven't tried it at the beach, but it went camping with us as something to hold for shade. Worked nicely when the sunshine came out, and was easy enough to carry about rather than leaving it behind at the tent. We had some rain too and I stayed dry underneath it while out in camp. Handy to have one thing for either kind of weather, without hauling a big umbrella around. Great to take along!
Chelsea Palmer
A little bulkier folded than I expected, but otherwise a solid choice.
A fairly traditional-looking umbrella, and it has kept the rain off nicely. The simple design is smart without being flashy. I like the quick button action and it has kept its shape on the windy days I've used it. A little bulkier folded than I expected, but otherwise a solid choice.
Alexa Carr
Good umbrella, pleased with how it's made.
Ive had this out a few times now and have been happy with it each time. Useful at weddings and bridal showers as well as other get togethers when it rains. The fabric seems decent and nothing has dripped through on me yet. Good umbrella, pleased with how it's made.

For me the coverage is right for one person.
I had already ordered this umbrella when I started looking more closely at the reviews and got rather nervous about what would come out of the box. Mine arrived in good condition, so that worry turned out to be unnecessary. It was inside a cardboard box with three layers of fairly stiff paper wrapped round it. Bubble wrap would have been my first choice, but after unwrapping it I could see there was plenty of cushioning. Everything looked straight and undamaged. It happened to be wet outside that day, which meant I didn't have to wait to find out how it was going to be. I went out with it several times and had no problems at all. The tip was straight, it opened properly, and in my hand it felt like a decent everyday umbrella rather than something flimsy. I really enjoyed carrying it, it looks pretty and kept me dry without any fuss. For me the coverage is right for one person. Two could probably manage if they stayed close together, although I wouldn't expect much room to spare. I'm glad I went ahead with the purchase rather than letting the worrying reviews put me off completely. There had been comments about different packaging, including a tube, but that wasn't how mine came. I can't say whether anything has changed with the packing, only that there was enough protection around the one I received and it reached me looking just fine.

Happy to recommend.
All the basics covered:* Smart appearance* Packs neatly* Good solid feel* Simple button* Keeps me dry
My wife gets through little umbrellas surprisingly fast. Six months with this one and it's still going well, which counts for something in our house. I'm hoping it will keep going a good while yet. Haven't found anything worth grumbling about, and the price seemed fair.I didn't know Haven before getting this, but it is a name I'll remember when another umbrella is needed. Happy to recommend.

Surprisingly compact, but SOLID.
Surprisingly compact, but SOLID. Only four outings so far, and the canopy closing at a button press is already my favorite bit - especially getting into a car with things in my hands. Brought it on a work trip to Des Moines when rain was forecast. I normally leave an umbrella off my packing list (less stuff), but this stood beside my laptop inside the computer bag. Actually IN that compartment, not hanging off the outside. No excuse to leave it home. Easy to carry around and has a reassuring weight when you're holding it.
Haley Bryant
We use it together in the sunshine or rain here in Florida.
Our four year old granddaughter is fascinated by umbrellas. This one is nicely made and she wants it out every day. We use it together in the sunshine or rain here in Florida. She enjoys the shade over her head almost as much as splashing about. A gift she's really enjoyed.
Debbie Bradley
Had to look at how that last part worked first.
The black umbrella is VERY pretty - bought it for my youngest to have some shade. Not an ornate style, just a nice finish and that oval loop at the bottom. It ALSO folds up, which makes carrying it around less awkward. You press the button to put the canopy up, press again to draw it together, THEN push the telescoping part down yourself. Had to look at how that last part worked first. Kind of pricey, but the fabric and the way everything is put together make me feel better about the cost.
Misty Jacobson
This easily my favorite umbrella.
This easily my favorite umbrella. Somebody thought about the annoying bits of using one and made them simpler. Success. The button is straightforward and the loop is easy to keep hold of, without a great long handle. Little details, but they make a difference. A very clever design overall.
