A very nice umbrella overall.

A very nice umbrella overall. It arrived looking perfect, is attractive, and folds down to a useful size. My only quibble is the effort needed to push the telescoping section fully in after the canopy closes. Not a deal breaker, but I'm hoping I'll get more used to that part.

It reminds me more of a drinks bottle than a slim travel umbrella.

My old folding umbrella was fine for carrying around, but I was forever wishing it covered more of me. Whatever replaced it still had to go in a backpack. After looking at several options I went with this one, and a run of spring rain has given me plenty of chances to try it. No regrets so far. Folded up it's around 40cm, which fits where I need it to, although the bundle is fairly chunky. It reminds me more of a drinks bottle than a slim travel umbrella. The canopy fabric feels closely woven, and most of the water comes off with a couple of shakes. The frame seems solid without being rigid, and it's been straightforward to control in the breezy showers I've encountered. The button has been reliable for opening and for closing the canopy, with no accidental opening in my bag. My one quibble is the grip. The closed oval handle is convenient for carrying, but the part I actually hold feels a little short. With my hand wrapped around it, the curve bears against my palm more than I'd prefer. A slightly longer gripping area would suit me better. That hasn't spoiled an otherwise very satisfactory replacement, though someone with larger hands might find it more noticeable.

Rain hasn't been a problem for these umbrellas.

Rain hasn't been a problem for these umbrellas. The children have certainly given them a workout playing outside, even on breezy days, and so far they've held up well. Good price for the three we bought too. I'd recommend them without hesitation, they've been a very worthwhile purchase.

Construction, appearance, all good!

At this price the combination is hard to beat... a useful size opened up, automatic opening AND canopy closing (same button), yet not a long bulky thing when packed away. Construction, appearance, all good!I haven't used this new one yet, my enthusiasm comes from the one I left somewhere. Easily done, unfortunately. It is affordable enough to replace without too much pain, which matters with umbrellas. The canopy closes at a press; then you manually compress the shaft to put it away. For me the big benefit is getting into a car without wrestling with an open umbrella. MAKES THAT PART SO MUCH SIMPLER!!!

It hasn't seen much rain yet.

It hasn't seen much rain yet. I wanted shade for my son while he's in the sling, because he's still too little for sunscreen. I'd probably have passed it over if I'd noticed the automatic feature before buying, but now I'm glad it's there. Being able to open it and close the canopy with one hand has been a big help when I'm juggling a baby.

The umbrella I ordered arrived in good condition and when expected.

The umbrella I ordered arrived in good condition and when expected. I've taken it golfing eight times over the last two weeks and am pleased with it. I walk the course, so being able to carry my own shade on really hot days makes a difference. I would suggest this umbrella if you find walking in the hot sun uncomfortable

So far, a great umbrella.

So far, a great umbrella. It's only been out in two bouts of wet weather, so these are early impressions. I wondered whether a folding one would give me enough cover, but I've stayed dry without any trouble. I'll change this review if that stops being the case. The frame feels sturdy and the button has behaved just as it should. Worth getting familiar with how it closes before you're standing in the rain. Rememebr the button draws in the canopy; you still need to compress the telescoping shaft yourself before putting it away.

Now I actually want some rain.

I'm terrible for hanging on to an ugly-ass old umbrella as long as it still does something useful. Eventually it gets demoted to the car, where I pretend it's an emergency supply rather than something I should have replaced years ago. Anyway, I wanted a nicer looking folding umbrella with the automatic opening AND canopy closing, and this caught my eye. (Having had that button convenience before, I'm not keen to give it up). It only arrived yesterday, so this is not a report from a soaking wet pavement. I've just tried it indoors, but it has a reassuring weight and the action feels very smooth. A press shuts the canopy, then you compress the stem yourself to pack it away. It opens much wider than you would guess looking at it folded. Not one of those tiny things that disappears into any corner of a handbag, mind you, but for the extra cover I can live with that. Compared with some folding ones I've owned, it still packs down neatly. It looks lovely, and I think the price is very fair. At last, something I won't be embarrassed to pull out. Now I actually want some rain.

Such a handy umbrella to have about.

I bought a pair about a year back, one each for my husband and me. After he lost his I let him have mine. Turns out I CANNOT manage without one either, so another was ordered straight away. A press gets it open, no wrestling with the canopy before getting on with things. Such a handy umbrella to have about. Love it!

So funny!

My kids are 4 and 7 and were asking for umbrellas with characters on them. I wasn't sure these plain ones would be exciting enough, but they LOVE them! First rain and they were straight outside watching water drip off the edges. Now a cloudy sky is apparently a reason to go and sit outside. So funny! They feel well put together and both kids manage the button easily. I help push the shafts back down afterwards, they're a fair size for little ones to manage on their own.

These seem a sensible choice to me.

My husband now has two of these gray umbrellas, one to leave in the truck and another at the office. His old ones were looking pretty tired while the compact umbrella I use was still going strong. He eventually asked me to get him the same sort instead of hanging onto the old ones. I like being able to put mine in my purse when I need to, rather than carrying a long umbrella around. These seem a sensible choice to me.

Seth Wagner

Very happy to have umbrellas that fit where I want to keep them.

When I changed cars, the umbrellas from my old car wouldn't go in the new door compartments. I picked up two of these and they fit just right. Opening and closing the canopy with the button is an added convenience, especially getting back into the car. Very happy to have umbrellas that fit where I want to keep them.

I absolutely love having this umbrella, honestly!

I absolutely love having this umbrella, honestly! my husband gave me one for Christmas after I kept saying how much I wanted it. The Cream White looks so pretty, it just makes me happy to carry it. Feels well made too, and it covers me properly (there's a nice amount of room underneath, which I love. My one little thing (not really a problem) is the pale fabric does show marks quite easily. I give it a wipe when it needs it, so nothing major, just something I noticed. lol.

Save the hair, take an umbrella!

An umbrella I actually get excited about, who would have thought!!! Usually I will walk through a bit of drizzle without even bothering to put anything up. Fog doesn't trouble me either. But let me spend time getting my hair looking nice and suddenly I am very precious about a few drops of water. Ridiculous, I know, but there it is. For those dressed-up days when the rain really starts coming down, having a decent amount of coverage is wonderful! The gray is quite understated, which I like, and I don't have to wrestle with it to get it open. One press and I'm covered. Folded, it isn't the teeny little thing you could tuck into any purse, although it is easy enough to carry. I just leave a bit of space for it rather than expecting miracles from my smallest bag. I also let it dry out open before putting it back in its sleeve. No point packing something away soaking wet and finding it still damp later. In all the rush of a last minute move, this was one of the things that didn't come with me...and now I keep thinking about replacing it. Funny what you miss when you're unpacking! I'd absolutely have another. Save the hair, take an umbrella!

Lynn Avery

The handle is a closed oval loop rather than a hooked end.

The gray canopy opens out evenly and provides a useful amount of shelter. The button is easy to find on the handle, and a press sends the canopy up without having to slide a catch along the pole. Pressing it again folds the fabric down, but this does not shorten the whole umbrella. What I hadn't appreciated is that the telescoping section needs to be compressed manually afterwards: I find that easier to do once I'm inside. There is a little resistance at that stage, which is my only real reservation. The handle is a closed oval loop rather than a hooked end. Once everything is tucked in, the supplied sleeve slides over it and keeps the folded umbrella together.

Marisa Jacobs

I've had enough of umbrellas flipping inside out in the wind.

I've had enough of umbrellas flipping inside out in the wind. This one feels solid and hasn't done that to me yet. A little bigger folded than I pictured, but I like the cover it gives. For travelling really light I'd still take a smaller one, though I'm glad to have this for regular use.

Brittney Sexton

Being able to open it and collapse the canopy with a button is handy.

Good coverage without taking up much room in my bag, and the price felt reasonable. Being able to open it and collapse the canopy with a button is handy. A few weeks of use isn't much of a test, but it feels sturdy and has been dependable so far. A straightforward purchase that I'm glad I made.

Ariana Dickson

On inspection the quality is good.

There was some waiting for the parcel. On inspection the quality is good. Not used in actual rain yet. For everyday purposes at this cost, it seems very suitable. The material and finishing are satisfactory. Folded size is as expected. I am satisfied overall and can advise this purchase to others.

Kiara Shaffer

Thank you, the umbrella arrived quickly and in good condition.

Thank you, the umbrella arrived quickly and in good condition. It was here sooner than I had thought it would be. For what I paid, I am very satisfied with the quality and how the material feels. Many thanks. I would be glad to buy another when needed. Thank you again.

Christina James

I cannot offer an opinion about using this umbrella in the rain yet.

The item had not reached me when I was expecting it, so I had to get in touch rather than comment on how it performed. I could not see enough delivery information to know what was happening. The reply I received was courteous, clear and reassuring, and I appreciated being treated kindly instead of feeling like a nuisance. I cannot offer an opinion about using this umbrella in the rain yet. What I can say is that the way my query was handled gave me a good impression of the people behind it.

Heather Burgess

Nice sturdy feel as well.

At last, an umbrella that doesn't feel like the cheep ones I've kept replacing! It looks good and gives us a decent amount of room. I can keep close with a companion, or squeeze my two little ones beside me. Nice sturdy feel as well. I've wasted enough on flimsy umbrellas that were no use when the rain started. This is the sort I'd rather have spent my money on in the first place.

Chris Moyer

I think the quality makes it worth the money.

A nicely made umbrella and you can feel it when handling it.The button opens it quickly, and pressing again folds the canopy. Then you shorten the shaft manually to finish putting it away. The oval handle sits comfortably in my hand. I think the quality makes it worth the money.

Alison Espinoza

Beautifully finished.

Beautifully finished. The appearance caught my eye first, but the button action is what has really won me over. One press sends the canopy up, and another brings it back together. You then press the shaft down by hand and it becomes a neat bundle again. For something that opens so generously it stores very nicely. The finish looks elegant rather than fussy. A lovely thing to take out on an otherwise rather gloomy wet day.

Barry Bass

even from a distance the open canopy has a nice shape.

Overall it looks smart; even from a distance the open canopy has a nice shape. The part I'm less keen on is the handle, which doesn't feel as substantial as the rest. It stands out when I pick it up from the car.( Not saying it doesn't work, just the feel of it.) Would have liked a softer grip, because the umbrella itself gives decent cover.

Brandy Underwood

Not cheap, hoping it's worth the extra....

Not cheap, hoping it's worth the extra....normally I'm in the seven-to-ten-dollar range for a folding umbrella...this is definitely heavier and looks Much better put together. The button gets it open, another press folds the canopy. BUT you still push the shaft back yourself...It has a sleeve, which I would expect at this price. Haven't had enough use yet to say much more, will add to this later. After what gusty weather did to my last couple of cheap umbrellas I figured it was time to spend a little more on a better one.

Leah Allison

I picked these for the bridesmaids at my daughters wedding in June.

I picked these for the bridesmaids at my daughters wedding in June. Simple and elegant looking, and they'll have some shade while they're walking down the isle. I haven't seen everybody with theirs together yet but I keep picturing it. Really looking forward to seeing these umbrellas as part of her day!

Brenda Munoz

Useful, although I imagined it opening a bit larger.

Useful, although I imagined it opening a bit larger. Then again, it needs to be manageable when folded, and for carrying around I think the size makes sense. The gray and the feel of the fabric weren't quite how I pictured them, but at this price I'm satisfied. Let's see how it lasts!

Jay Krause

Mine are handy both for rain and for some shade on sunny days.

I already have two, so bought this one for a dear friend. The cream white looked just her sort of thing and she was so touched I'd thought of her! Mine are handy both for rain and for some shade on sunny days. They've had a couple of years of use and still work nicely. Press to open - another press closes the canopy. I'd like another for myself before long, and would happily choose them for future presents too. Attractive, but also something that actually gets used.

Alisha Nixon

Happy to recommend it on the quality alone.

Feels like a much better made umbrella than most I've had. I've gone through plenty of inexpensive ones, and this seems a step up. The canopy fabric has some give, while the ribs and handle feel solid rather than flimsy. Happy to recommend it on the quality alone.

Tommy Ryan

Having some shade between matches made a real difference.

I took this to a state tennis tournament in Mobile because June there can be pretty uncomfortable in the sun. Having some shade between matches made a real difference. A few of my teammates borrowed it as well and everybody liked getting out of the glare for a while. It was comfortable to sit under without holding something enormous over my head. I originally wanted it for the heat, but it's been handy for rainy days since then too!

Isabel Shields

Lovely looking, quite feminine too.

Lovely looking, quite feminine too. I was wary about another umbrella after poor experiences in the wind, but I needed cover for myself and my laptop. We've had plenty of rain here in Windsor, Ontario and it has done well. I wish for a little more width when carrying things, otherwise I love it

Melissa Reed

Sensible man!

My husband now has two of these in cream white, one in his truck and one at the office. His old umbrellas were getting pretty sorry looking while mine was still going strong. He eventually asked me to buy him the same kind rather than another one like he'd had before. Sensible man! I prefer a folding umbrella because I can tuck it in my bigger purse when I need to. These have been a useful size without being awkward to store.

Francisco Jefferson

It arrived quickly too.

Buying from a picture always makes me hesitate a little, so it was a relief to find how nicely made this umbrella is. Feels sturdier than the ones I've had before. It did cost more than I'd normally spend, but I'm pleased I chose it at Christmas. It arrived quickly too. And seeing it properly, rather than on a screen, it looks even lovelier than I'd hoped!

Andrew Hanna

Handy size for a folding umbrella.

Handy size for a folding umbrella. I picked one up for my boss as she travels alot. She likes that it goes in her roomy laptop bag without taking over the whole thing (some travel umbrellas really are bulky). Her elderly mum saw it and wanted one too, so she gave me money to get another. It fits in a bigger handbag as well, not a tiny purse. Now I'm thinking I should have ordered one for me while I was at it :-)

Annette Alvarez

Worth knowing how it packs away.

Picked this up for taking down to the lake. A friend had a shade umbrella on our camping trip a few weeks earlier, and borrowing it convinced me I wanted my own.I wanted a little more coverage without something awkward to carry, so choosing a compact model felt a bit of a gamble. I'm really pleased with it. There's a good patch of shade underneath and room to move without immediately being outside it. It's been fine in light wind, though we don't get much wind here. Worth knowing how it packs away. It spreads out nicely overhead, but it does telescope down for carrying. You aren't stuck carrying an umbrella at its full length everywhere. The action feels particularly good. The ribs have some give without feeling flimsy, and opening has a positive snap to it. Pressing the button again brings the canopy together, then you compress the telescoping shaft by hand. The oval handle gives me a secure grip. Haven't owned it long enough to judge years of use, but the construction and moving parts give a good impression. Living in Arizona, I wanted something useful for those really hot summer days. Used it when the temperature was getting close to 110 and appreciated having that shade with me. It doesn't make summer disappear, but standing outside was much more pleasant. Glad I chose it. Feels well put together. Pros + Generous shade for a compact umbrella + Good solid feel + Smooth opening action + Comfortable grip + Manageable to carry Cons Nothing so far

Adriana Mack

Has a reassuringly solid feel without taking up loads of space.

Hit the button and up it goes, press again and the canopy pulls itself shut. Very clever little thing. You still shorten the pole yourself afterwards, but that's straightforward. Has a reassuringly solid feel without taking up loads of space. Mine lives in the car for rainy surprises!

Jillian Cross

My old umbrella left me nervous whenever the wind picked up so I wanted something more substantial, and this feels like a definite improvement, rain and wind haven't troubled it so far, the oval handle takes a bit of getting used to and feels smaller in my hand than I expected, there's decent cover once it's open and it doesn't feel flimsy, getting the folds neat enough for the sleeve takes a little patience, but that's a small thing really.

Kristina Mahoney

It has been a lovely choice.

My birthday present was this umbrella in green, as I needed something small enough to carry on the journey to work but not flimsy. It has been a lovely choice. Slips into my bag neatly, doesn't feel heavy to take along, and a press with my thumb gets it open quickly. My old umbrella gave me years of service and is still going, though looking rather tired now. I'm hoping for the same sort of long use from this one!

Julie George

The coverage is good for my walks.

Delighted with this umbrella. It's sturdy and smart looking, and I feel nicely sheltered underneath it. When rain gets blown about it dosn't feel like a flimsy thing that's going to turn over straight away. The coverage is good for my walks. Would recomend it and buy it again. It's cute too and I'v had lot's of nice comments about it.

Colleen Turner

This one looks lovely and gives me more cover.

After my old umbrella flipped over in a shower and wouldn't go back, I needed a replacement. This one looks lovely and gives me more cover. A press of the button opens it, another folds the canopy, which is very handy. A much nicer thing to take out when the weather is miserable!

Antonio Camacho

(Apparently that's what counts as a treat when you get older!

After enough damp soccer and baseball practices, an umbrella actually made it onto my birthday wish list. (Apparently that's what counts as a treat when you get older!) This one seems sturdy and is cute enough that my 14 year old keeps trying to claim it. The canopy is easy to open and close with the button, and it's a comfortable size for one mom sitting in a folding chair.

Edwin Zuniga

Glad I spent a little extra.

This is my second one (first got left on a train) and both have worked just as they should. The canopy gives me good coverage and the shaft and loop handle feel solid. I especially like being able to open it with the button. Folds away neatly too. Glad I spent a little extra.

Debbie Brooks

I wouldn't bother taking a cheap one again.

Worth allowing a little extra in the budget for this if you're packing for wet, breezy weather. Those flimsy little travel umbrellas aren't much help. This feels substantial and has been useful rather than just taking up bag space.I wouldn't bother taking a cheap one again.

Roberto Anthony

Only given it a quick try in light rain so far.

Only given it a quick try in light rain so far. A press of the button opens it promptly and another folds the canopy; the telescoping part still needs pressing down by hand. It seems solid, with 30 ribs supporting the fabric, though I can't say yet what difference that makes in wind but... the handle is a little short for my liking, a bit more length would be nice...

Gail Stevens

I've carried this quite often for around 16 months.

I've carried this quite often for around 16 months. At first I thought it was heavier than an umbrella needed to be, especially for the money. Then I tried a cheap one from a local shop. It just didn't feel as substantial when I used it. So I've ended up appreciating this one more. Still not the lightest thing to carry.

Ebony Gibbs

For what we wanted, it has been a very good choice.

My 2 year old wanted an umbrella of his own because his big sister has one. He's delighted with this. He can hold it, though I do the opening and closing for him as it's a proper sized umbrella. There's plenty of room under it and he won't be growing out of it in a hurry. The fabric feels decent and everything has stayed sound through several wet outings. For what we wanted, it has been a very good choice.

Chris Briggs

The beige is lovely- nice to look at even on a wet day.

Took it with me to Ireland and was glad I did. One press has it open, then another brings the canopy in so you can shorten the shaft by hand and fasten it up. Useful when a shower arrives out of nowhere, which was most days on that trip. I nearly left it behind because it isn't the smallest umbrella, but there was space in my daypack and it got plenty of use. Covers me nicely, too.The beige is lovely- nice to look at even on a wet day. Spent far too long choosing something to travel with, but this turned out to be a very good choice.

Sheena Dominguez

As far as she's concerned it's a good, sturdy everyday umbrella.

Gave this to someone who lives in the city and she's been delighted with it. She says it keeps her dry and is easy to take along when she's walking about. I was a little concerned by comments calling it flimsy, but she hasn't found that at all. As far as she's concerned it's a good, sturdy everyday umbrella.

Olivia Kaufman

Probably the best thing I've bought for campus!

Probably the best thing I've bought for campus! The price was reasonable, it feels sturdy, and it slips into the bags I normally carry without a struggle. I'm forever walking between buildings and never know when it's going to rain, so having this along has been absolutely brilliant!

Meredith Hernandez

For the money, it's a reasonable compact umbrella.

For the money, it's a reasonable compact umbrella. Feels sturdy enough for normal showers, though I wouldn't pick it for really wild weather. There are bigger umbrellas for that sort of thing anyway. It folds down to a manageable size, rather than being absolutely tiny, and has been useful for the rain I actually go out in.
