It feels reassuringly sturdy in the hand.

The walk to my office gets so windy between the buildings that it feels like a tunnel. There is usually a discarded umbrella sticking out of the bin near work, which tells you something about the conditions.I have used this one on my commute and it has done exactly what I needed, kept me covered without making the walk a struggle. It feels reassuringly sturdy in the hand. I am pleased with how it has handled my everyday use and would happily choose it again.

Very much worth it.

Im small and walk pretty much everywhere in NYC, so I don't want an umbrella taking up the entire pavement. The cheap ones I used before barely made it through a windy rainy day. This feels much more solid and is manageable around other people. For how often I use one, spending a bit more makes sense.Very much worth it.

I see this as a one person umbrella.

I went with black. Its a plain, sensible colour, which is what I wanted rather than anything loud. Opening it is quick and the button gathers the canopy back in too, then I push the stem down to pack it away. Once folded it feels quite manageable to take along. I've only used it in fairly ordinary wet weather with some breeze, not a serious storm, but it has been fine so far. A little more width would be nice, though I'm not taking a star off over it. I see this as a one person umbrella. There's room for me and my bag walking normally, but I wouldn't expect two people to share it without somebody getting a damp shoulder.

A good looking, practical umbrella that I'm very glad I found.

After carrying a big golf umbrella for years, I went looking for a replacement and kept coming back to this one. The green was what caught my eye first. It stands out. It looks cheerful. It isn't another dull umbrella that disappears among all the others. Beyond the color, there are some practical things I wanted: a frame that feels substantial, a button so I'm not wrestling with it to get it open, and enough coverage for me without having to carry a golf umbrella everywhere. This one has all of that. It isn't a shelter for the entire family, which is worth knowing, but for my own use the size makes much more sense. My wife has also found me easy to pick out in the rain with that green canopy overhead. I wouldn't have thought of that as a feature beforehand, but it's handy. The sleeve is useful for storing it, and it lives in the car now so I don't have to remember to take it out with me. A good looking, practical umbrella that I'm very glad I found.

Small enough for my handbag and handy having a sleeve with it.

Small enough for my handbag and handy having a sleeve with it. getting all the fabric tucked neatly away to slide it into the sleeve is a bit of a faff (could easily just be me tbh) but otherwise does what i need. mostly it comes out when i want some shade, so i can't really comment on how it would do in a proper windy downpour.

It has kept me dry in heavy showers and feels solid in the hand.

My favourite umbrella out of the ones I've used. The flexible ribs seem to take a gust without the whole thing fighting against me. It has kept me dry in heavy showers and feels solid in the hand. Very impress with it overall. I particularly like how supported the canopy feels, not flimsy at all, yet it folds up for carrying. Happy to recommend it.

The gray is nice and the seams look tidy.

The handle is a closed oval loop, not the usual curved hook, which gives this a different look. My son loves having it. We've had children's umbrellas before that didn't stand up to much use, and this one seems more substantial then those. Hopefully that will mean it lasts. It isn't a tiny child sized umbrella though, so I help him manage it rather than expecting him to do everything himself. Open, there is a good amount of room over him. I would treat it as one person's umbrella rather than trying to squeeze everybody under it. The button gets it open easily and also brings the canopy down. You still have to compress the telescoping pole yourself to finish putting it away, which is worth knowing. I like not having to press directly on a little metal catch. The gray is nice and the seams look tidy. Can't speak for how it will be after lots of use, but my first impression is a good one.

An easy 5 stars from me.

I've bought enough umbrellas over the years to know the difference between one I put up with and one I actually like using. This one is definitely in the second category. It folds down to about 40cm, is roughly 105cm across when open, and weighs around 390g. Not weightless, but a sensible size for carrying. The fabric feels substantial and the frame looks well put together. There are 30 ribs under there, which is quite a sight when you look up into it. Nothing feels flimsy to me. Mine is Cream White and it's a really clean, attractive colour, with a black underside. The plain finish suits it. People who have seen it have commented on how nice it looks. As for room, there's plenty over me rather than that feeling of having to tuck everything in. My brother and I tried sharing it during a heavy shower and could both shelter if we stood close. You do have to stay shoulder to shoulder! It isn't a group shelter, but for my own use the coverage is excellent. Being compact makes it practical to keep in the car and grab for the shops. Once it's wet, though, I still spread it out indoors to dry rather than folding it straight back into the cover. It needs a clear bit of floor for that, just as any open umbrella does. The handle is a closed oval loop, not the curved hook sort. It feels comfortable to hold and gives it a slightly different look. I like that part more than I expected to. A press of the button puts it up, and another press collapses the canopy. You then push the telescoping shaft back down by hand. That's the whole closing process, and it's straightforward once you've done it. There's a sleeve to put it away in, too. I tend to straighten the fabric out before sliding it inside because I want to keep it neat, not all scrunched up. An easy 5 stars from me. For someone wanting a sturdy feeling handheld umbrella that folds down small, I would certainly recommend it.

Logan Graves

I'm impressed with the frame so far.

I'm impressed with the frame so far. The flexible ribs look substantial, unlike the thin supports that always seem ready to bend on cheaper umbrellas. The oval handle is comfortable enough, although not quite what I'm used to holding. It looks capable of putting up with normal use, but I won't be bending it on purpose just to see what happens.

Charles Shea

The loop handle is rather distinctive

There is a reassuring feel to this umbrella when you pick it up. Folded, it is tidy enough to carry, and the open canopy has a pleasing shape. The loop handle is rather distinctive; unfortunately it takes up a bit more space in my bag than a simple straight handle would. The sleeve is another small irritation, as I have to fold the fabric quite neatly before it will slide on. Neither issue affects its usefulness, however. The ribs have enough flex that the whole thing does not feel rigid and awkward to hold. What matters most is the cover it gives in rain, and on that point I have been happy. Water shakes off reasonably well, though I still leave it open to dry. Not quite perfect for carrying, but a well-considered umbrella overall.

Sonya Savage

*UPDATE* Used it through a small rainstorm and the cover kept me dry.

The first thing I noticed handling it was that it feels fairly substantial for a compact umbrella. The oval handle is easy enough to get my hand around and the telescoping pole doesn't feel flimsy with it open. Opening is just a press of the button, nothing particularly difficult about using it as an umbrella. My main complaint is how much space it still takes up folded: compact doesn't mean something I can forget is in my bag. It's not enormous, but I notice the weight more than I thought I would. The reason I'm at 4 rather than lower is that holding it by the handle it feels secure, and I'd rather have that than something very light that feels delicate. The sleeve is another thing I have a bit of trouble with, mostly getting the umbrella folded neatly enough to slide it back in. It can be done but I have to spend a little time arranging the fabric rather than just shoving it in. When I first wrote this I hadn't had any proper rain to try it in, so the solid feel was all I could really go on.*UPDATE* Used it through a small rainstorm and the cover kept me dry. There was some wind as well, which meant keeping a firm grip because you can feel the open canopy catching it. Nothing folded over or came apart, it just pulls at your hand more than you might expect looking at it packed away. Happy enough with how it held up, although I wouldn't treat it as something I could hold loosely in gusts.

Samantha Warner

No turning inside out so far, and the button works smoothly.

After several rainy, windy days in Chicago, this has done exactly what I needed. No turning inside out so far, and the button works smoothly. Once folded it is narrow enough to carry without much fuss. Now, open it up and there's a fair amount of umbrella there. I'm fairly tall and usually have a backpack on, and I've been able to keep both myself and the bag covered. If your just after something tiny to slip into a small bag, this might not be your first choice. It fits my needs much better than a really little one would.I ended up getting one for my brother as well. If either of us misplaces ours, I'd happily choose the same umbrella again.

Drew Hooper

Finding it online later was such a nice surprise.

First saw it in an airport shop in Germany and wanted one straight away. The shops price was more than I wanted to pay, so I left without buying and wished I hadn't. Finding it online later was such a nice surprise. Ordered it and now of course it never rains when I go out! Everyone I've shown my umbrella to has liked it, I'm delighted I finally bought it!

Martin Wallace

Nicely made and folds down well.

Nicely made and folds down well. I'd still lean toward something even smaller for a pocket, having been caught by a sudden downpour in Rome with a tiny umbrella that proved invaluable. Pocket size is more my thing-though this one takes up far less space than a full length umbrella.

My wife takes this golfing through the southwest Florida summer,…

My wife takes this golfing through the southwest Florida summer, mainly for shade rather than rain. Standing out in the sun gets uncomfortable very quickly and she finds it much more bearable with this overhead. There is a real difference between being shaded and being directly in that heat. It feels sturdy, and the button means she can get it open with one hand without a fuss. For someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, having a bit of portable shade is very useful. It has also covered her in rain, so it isn't just a sunny-day purchase.

Tim Hanson

The photos don't quite show how smart this looks in black.

The photos don't quite show how smart this looks in black. I've had several compliments on it already. It folds away neatly, which matters as I use it walking across campus. I keep it in my backpack through lectures and on the light rail afterwards. Above all, it gives me welcome shade on those walks and keeps the direct sun off my rather sensitive skin.

Eric Beard

The price was good when I purchased it.

The price was good when I purchased it. There is plenty of space for me under it and the automatic opening is very convenient. For someone who mainly wants good value, I think it is a sensible choice. However, the closed length is greater than I expected, and it does not fit neatly in my smaller bag. Also, the loop handle is different from the usual type and not quite as comfortable for my hand. For anyone who wants something very small and unobtrusive, I would consider those points first. For my own use, I still think it was money well spent.

Strong little umbrella, has handled our rainy Hawaiian winter well.

Strong little umbrella, has handled our rainy Hawaiian winter well. I really should have checked the dimensions because it was MUCH smaller than I had pictured. Still a very good umbrella though. I'll probably let my husband have this one and look for something larger for myself.

Craig Carpenter

These were my little graduation extras for students about to leave…

These were my little graduation extras for students about to leave for college. An umbrella isn't the most exciting present, but walking across a campus in the rain makes it a pretty sensible one! Folded up, it goes in a book bag without taking over, and the canopy is a useful size once opened. I liked that they could just press the button rather than wrestle it open. A practical little addition to the graduation presents, and well received!

Cassidy Reese

Opening it up was a nice surprise.

This umbrella had been on my mind for such a long while! Finally decided to buy it and was excited just to get it! Since it folds down and didn't cost much, I wasn't expecting anything especially sturdy. I liked the look enough that I wanted it anyway! Opening it up was a nice surprise. The blue looks great, the whole thing feels solid, and the button works nicely! It's nicer than I had pictured for something that folds away. Living in Southern California does mean waiting around for some rain, though! It was a few weeks before I could actually take it outside in wet weather. Sunday finally brought rain!! Used my umbrella and got to watch my team win as well!

Kerry Huynh

The roomy loop handle feels comfortable in my hand too.

Easy enough to carry around all day, but it opens fast and gives enough cover to keep me dry. The roomy loop handle feels comfortable in my hand too. I liked it so much I got one each for my mom and dad, and another for me to leave at work (for the days the forecast says sunshine and then you step outside to find it raining).

Hayden Pennington

The umbrella seems well made, though I had pictured something…

The umbrella seems well made, though I had pictured something wider when it was opened. It measures about 105 cm across, which is fine for me alone but less coverage than I had in mind. I'm keeping it because the quality is good, just wish I had paid more attention to the size before choosing it.

Kathleen Horton

why keep buying cheap umbrella's that barely seem worth carrying.

why keep buying cheap umbrella's that barely seem worth carrying. I keep a few decent ones about for those NY downpours, the problem is me leaving them in a taxi or bar rather than wearing them out. Pressing a button to open with one hand is so useful, and this one packs down neatly but gives a good sized cover when opened.

Ashley Pennington

Opened up, it takes more room than I expected.

I was looking for something my wife and I could share, and this works if we stand fairly close together. Opened up, it takes more room than I expected. Carrying it through the supermarket was awkward with my shopping, even folded it isn't tiny. It works as it should, but I'd probably choose something smaller if shopping was my main use for it.

Chelsey Li

Attractive umbrella with plenty of cover.

Attractive umbrella with plenty of cover. Auto OPEN and canopy close are handy - my 7 year old can manage the button. A couple of things keep it at four stars for me... pressing the button gathers the fabric, but the telescoping pole still needs to be compressed manually before it is ready to open again. That last bit takes more effort than the button, so I usually do it for her. Also, packing it neatly into the sleeve needs a bit of patience, particularly if she has just bundled it up after use. I find it easier if I straighten the folds first instead of trying to stuff the whole lot in. The gray is nice and the frame feels substantial. One thought for the manufacturer: a roomier sleeve would make putting it away less fiddly. As an umbrella it does its job well, and the easy opening is still the main reason we reach for it.

Sharon Le

And having this tucked in there is SO handy!!

Living in NYC I do most things on foot, which means whatever I might need has to come along in my bag. And having this tucked in there is SO handy!! It isn't something for a tiny pocket, but it fits my day bag and the weight doesn't bother me. I don't stand at the door trying to decide whether rain is likely, cause it's already packed. It feels like a proper umbrella without being an awkward long thing to carry around. I've used it when it was breezy as well as wet and the ribs have a bit of give, which I appreciate. I'm getting two more to give as gifts, that's how useful I've found mine (and I have gone through a fair few umbrellas over the years!).

Steven Cook

Having a button to shut the canopy as well as open it is handy.

The umbrella has done a decent job in rain with a little wind, nothing very extreme. The fabric feels thinner than I expected, although it has kept me dry so far. Having a button to shut the canopy as well as open it is handy. Overall a useful umbrella without spending a fortune, just not quite the fabric feel I wanted.

Kevin Walsh

I wanted something for shade and it works fine for that.

this is just right. Not a luxury parasol so don't expect one. I wanted something for shade and it works fine for that. Ordered two, one was an end of year gift for my sons teacher. She is delighted with hers. For the money I could buy a bunch more and give them away as little summer gifts!

Chase Blake

keeping the rain off.

The Haven compact umbrella has a solid feel without being a burden to carry, and does the important part of the job; keeping the rain off.I press the handle button and it opens up promptly. The frame has plenty of flexible ribs, which I like, although I will be watching how the moving parts hold up with regular use. The same button brings the canopy closed, and the telescoping section needs a hand push to get it fully packed away. I haven't had trouble with that, but it is worth understanding what the automatic closing actually does. I would not pretend to know how it behaves in a big storm, since all I've had to use it in has been fairly ordinary showers. It has done well in those and is convenient to take along. If I get a chance to use it in rougher weather I may add to this. For now it is among my favorite umbrellas to travel with.

Adrian Arroyo

I'd have preferred something more understated.

I spent quite a while looking for an umbrella with a loop handle, push-button opening and a size that wasn't enormous. (Something to leave in the car and carry into professional events.) This one suits that use and feels properly made. My only reservation is the blue, which is a little brighter than I had in mind. I'd have preferred something more understated.

Jeremy Knapp

The umbrella itself is nicely put together and I'm happy using it.

The umbrella itself is nicely put together and I'm happy using it. My wife isn't as keen on the opening button because she would prefer something wider under her thumb. It works smoothly, just not quite her preference for comfort. For the price a slightly broader button would be welcome. We've had no trouble with the fabric clinging together when getting it open. Overall I'd happily recommend it, and for me the button is a small point rather than anything that spoils a good umbrella.

Crystal Shannon

Bought it for my dad to take on holiday.

Bought it for my dad to take on holiday. He sits with it between his knees, like he's riding a horse. Getting it positioned took him a little practice, then he thought it was brilliant. For everyday carrying I might still look for something lighter, but he is very happy.

Joy Ramos

Very happy with it.

The design is sensible and it does the job I needed it for. Open, it is roughly 105cm across, enough cover for one person even though I expected something a little larger. The flexible ribs seem to help when it is breezy, and I find the handle pleasant to grip. Weight is manageable and the storage sleeve is useful. Closing took me a moment to understand: the canopy closes at a press, and then I shorten the telescoping stem myself. Once I had that sorted, no problem at all. Very happy with it.

Clinton Walker

This one has made that walk much less of a bother.

It's windy where I live and I used to dread the short walk from the train when it rained. A hooded coat was usually my answer because little umbrellas never seemed worth taking. This one has made that walk much less of a bother. It gives me room underneath and feels steady enough in the ordinary gusts along the way. I still wouldn't go looking for a storm with it, but I haven't needed to arrange a ride just because it's raining. For a walk of only five blocks that makes a real difference to me.

Lindsay Molina

Not much wind here lately just a lot of rain.

Not much wind here lately just a lot of rain. The umbrella is keeping me covered fine. ITs roomy once open, but folded its still a bit long for my little bag. Feels solid enough though I've been disappointed by umbrellas before. Overall I'm pleased with how it handles the rain. Strong wind is another question, cant really comment till I've been out in some.

Joy Rosario

My wife reaches for this whenever the rain starts.

My wife reaches for this whenever the rain starts. It has handled the windy days shes used it on without giving her trouble. Her hands are small and she can still grip it and work the button easily. A few years of use now and it is holding up well. She likes the cream white colour and the sleeve it came with (handy when its put away too.). The seams still look tidy and nothing has worked loose. Very pleased with what I paid and would get another one.

Isaiah Osborn

This goes along with me nearly everywhere.

This goes along with me nearly everywhere. A little extra weight to carry, yes, but I like having shade over me when the sun is strong. Sunscreen all over isn't my favorite feeling, so this is another way to get some cover. Sadly...lent mine out and it didn't come home! Will have to get myself another one ASAP

Warren Downs

This was one of the things I gave my husband for his birthday.

This was one of the things I gave my husband for his birthday. He appreciated the quality straight away, particularly the firm handle and the fabric, which sits nice and tight when open. The whole umbrella has a substantial feel without being awkward to put away. The button is straightforward to use too. Money well spent on a gift that went down very well.

Krystal Marsh

Pressing it to bring the canopy in is handy

I was fed up with having an umbrella in my work bag that was convenient to carry but rather less convenient once it rained. My shoulders would be covered, then I'd realise the bag hanging beside me was getting soaked. Tilting it towards the bag just moved the wet patch to me. Eventually I decided to err.. try a roomier one, and this has been a worthwhile change. The main attraction for me is the amount of cover compared with how much space it needs when packed away. It isn't a giant umbrella, but I can walk normally underneath rather than keep adjusting where I'm holding it. At about 40cm folded it still goes into my laptop bag, though it's not the tiny parcel my previous one was. Rain beads on the fabric and hasn't come through, the loop handle seems sturdy, and the button has behaved properly each time. Pressing it to bring the canopy in is handy; you then push the telescoping section back in yourself to finish packing it. My one reservation is the thickness of the folded bundle. With the fabric gathered around those ribs it takes a bit more space beside my laptop than I initially expected. Nothing terribly inconvenient, just something you notice when the bag is already full. Otherwise it has kept both me and my work bag dry without all the fiddling. PROS: + Useful coverage while still fitting in my work bag + Handy button operation + Plain black looks smart CONS: - A little chunky when folded

Pedro Barber

it has been great in the rain too!!

My old umbrella needed replacing and the blue on this one caught my eye straight away. A lovely shade...exactly the sort I like. Closing starts with a button press, and I finish by shortening the shaft by hand. That arrangement is handy. I'd recommend this without hesitation...it has been great in the rain too!!

Gabriel Mullen

It looks quite ready for the rain.

If choosing an umbrella is making you hesitate, I would say to try this one. The shaft feels firm and there are plenty of ribs under the fabric. Opened out it has more room than I expected from the folded size. It has a solid feeling. Unless I leave it somewhere, I think it will be useful for many rainy days. It looks quite ready for the rain. The parcel was a long rectangular box, about the length of the folded umbrella. There was plastic wrapping on it, looking new and clean. Under that was the fabric umbrella sleeve. There is a cover to carry it in. Pull it out of that cover and you have the umbrella itself. One press on the button and it opens wide. The ribs underneath look close together and strong. I am pleased with it. Perhaps another colour will be my next choice. I say go for it. It did take roughly ten days to reach me. Apart from waiting, this has been a very good buy. For the money it feels like more umbrella than I expected. These are my own thoughts on it. Very good, 5 stars from 100 for me. *****.

Audrey Hardin

I'm small and the size suits me, and the sleeve is useful.

Umbrellas usually annoy me because a bit of wind has them fighting you instead of helping. This one has been a pleasant surprise! It looks quite delicate but feels steadier than I expected. I'm small and the size suits me, and the sleeve is useful. Flexible ribs seem a sensible idea for something you carry out in the weather.

Robert Ellis

For me that's a more relaxed way of getting around with an umbrella.

The handle sits comfortably in my hand and the blue canopy gives good coverage. I can keep it above my eye line without leaving my shoulders out in the rain. It's nice being able to watch where I'm walking rather than ducking my head all the time! For me that's a more relaxed way of getting around with an umbrella.

Kelli Caldwell

A purchase I'm very pleased with.

Got a chance to take this out at last. I've usually grabbed those little umbrellas from the grocery store and hoped for the best. Walking around New York today, my clothes actually stayed dry. There was a fair bit of wind, too, and I could see people wrestling with their umbrellas while mine carried on behaving. Almost as if it was smug about the whole thing! A purchase I'm very pleased with.

Stuart Cardenas

Overall a very good buy for me....

Found a strong umbrella at last, been trying to find a decent one for some time now. It spreads out nicely and give good cover, I have already tried it when the rain was absolutely pouring & stayed dry underneath. The button pops it open and brings the canopy back in nicely. Overall a very good buy for me....

Stefanie Sims

It looks smart and the construction seems good.

My old umbrella was wearing out after five years, so I chose this black one. It looks smart and the construction seems good. Would prefer a little more width, but it's enough for me. I mostly want the shade at my kids ball games, where sitting in the sun can get pretty uncomfortable.

Lucas Andersen

This one is great.

The cheap little umbrellas were never lasting very long for me, so I finally spent a bit more instead of buying another bargain one. This one is great. A press and it pops right up, makes me feel ridiculously important walking out into the rain. Still working nicely instead of turning into another throwaway. Seems like money better spent this time.Good coverage for me or two people if we're standing close

Sherri Harrington

Excellent shade umbrella for what it costs!

Excellent shade umbrella for what it costs! Enough room for two close together without feeling enormous to carry. Does fine in a light shower too. Fairly light in the hand. I'm gentle when opening and packing it away, as I'd rather not force any of the moving parts, but at this price? Quite happy to treat it with some care.

Logan Shelton

A nice umbrella for regular rain or a little shade.

The green colour looks nice without being too bright. Packed away in the sleeve, this is convenient to leave in the car, and it doesn't take up the space of a full length umbrella. I would check the size of your bag before assuming it will fit though. The good: It looks neat. The canopy gives me enough cover for ordinary rain without feeling like I'm carrying an enormous umbrella. Opening it with the button is handy, and the sleeve keeps it together nicely when it's put away. The oval loop is comfortable to hold, although it is quite different from a traditional curved handle. There are plenty of ribs underneath and the frame has some flexibility to it, which seems sensible for something that folds. The bad: Compact doesn't mean tiny. It's fairly long when packed and the handle still takes up room, so I wouldn't call this one for a little purse. It feels substantial enough in the hand, but that also means you notice it in a bag. I had pictured something a little less bulky. Also, the button closes the canopy, not the entire umbrella. You still have to push the telescoping section in yourself before putting it away. That works fine, just worth knowing if you're expecting the whole thing to retract. Final thought: A nice umbrella for regular rain or a little shade. I am happy with the coverage and how neatly it stores in the car. I'd prefer a smaller folded package for carrying around all day, but as an everyday umbrella it is a good compromise.

Victor Jennings

The opening button is convenient too.

If you are wondering whether the low price means it will feel cheap, that was exactly my wife's first question. I had bought it for her and she was a little suspicious before opening it. Having looked it over and used it, neither of us can see anything to complain about. We have paid considerably more for umbrellas that don't feel any better put together. She wanted the cream white because it would go nicely with her rainy day things, and that part has certainly worked out. More importantly, the fabric is neatly finished and the seams look tidy, so it isn't just something nice to look at. The opening button is convenient too. I can't offer any grand technical opinion, only that she is pleased and I feel the money was well spent. For an everyday umbrella at this price, I really can't ask for much more!
