Ordered three and all were working fine.

Ordered three and all were working fine. The little ones love them, but these do have a button rather than the simple sliding part on some children's umbrellas. A press opens it and another press folds the canopy. (By canopy I mean the fabric up top, not the metal pole getting shorter.) You still push that pole down yourself to put it away. Quite handy once you know! HEADS UP: I handle that last bit for the preschoolers. My son -- a first grader -- loves using his, and the open size gives him good cover. I wouldn't expect every little one to pack it away alone.

A lovely umbrella for our walks to school!

My granddaughter is in kindergarten and is thrilled with her umbrella! She enjoys pressing the opening button, though I help her push it down for packing away. It feels solid, and the sleeve is useful once everything has dried. A lovely umbrella for our walks to school!

The frame seems solid and the cloth looks good too.

This is the first umbrella I've really picked out for myself. Living in LA, I went without one for ages because rain wasn't much of a consideration. Lately the weather has been less predictable, so it seemed sensible to have one.The open size suits me well on my own. I haven't tried it in a huge downpour, but for the rain we usually get it has been quite adequate. Folded up it goes in my bag, or I can just carry it separately without much fuss. One thing to understand is the button brings the canopy in, it doesn't shorten the whole umbrella. You still push the telescoping part in yourself to finish putting it away. That seems normal to me and the button is useful when I'm getting into the car. The frame seems solid and the cloth looks good too. Nothing about it has given me a reason to complain so far.

When she lost it she specifically asked for the same one again.

My daughter uses hers at college, where she's walking between places all the time and rain is pretty common. When she lost it she specifically asked for the same one again. That says plenty to me. It opens out to give her good coverage without being awkward to take along!

After a couple of years of regular walks, this umbrella has earned its place by the door. I take it on most outings because it is light enough not to feel like an extra chore to carry, yet substantial when opened. The flexible ribs have handled the windy days I have encountered, and the canopy still looks good despite being folded away countless times. I walk ten miles or more most weeks, throughout the year, so it sees a fair bit of use. It is useful for shade on sunny days as well as keeping the usual rain off. I don't expect a folding umbrella to do everything in every kind of weather, but for my walking routine this has been a very good choice!

Alisha Cherry

A nice umbrella though and a handy size to take along.

Both kids (under 10) are keen on these. I was a little unsure about a full size umbrella for them, but they manage the opening button fine. Closing the fabric is easy too, I help with pushing the pole down afterward as that needs more effort. Not quite an entirely do it yourself thing for the younger one.A nice umbrella though and a handy size to take along.

The build feels dependable and everything works as it should.

Number three for me now (the others were misplaced, not worn out). It goes in my laptop bag for travelling and gives decent coverage once open. The build feels dependable and everything works as it should. The loop handle is a particularly useful touch when I'm carrying several things.

Kaitlin Davila

Coverage is adequate rather than generous

It's often windy where I live, and this needs a firm hold when the breeze picks up. Coverage is adequate rather than generous; I've owned compact umbrellas that sheltered more of me. IHowever, it feels reasonably solid and is a step up from a cheap last minute umbrella.

Roberta Oconnell

I think she needs practice carrying it.

I was trying to find something for my 3 year old that didn't feel like it would fall apart straight away. This is more substantial than I thought it would be (not really a little toy umbrella). We've had it out a couple of times and it has done well. She likes holding it herself, though it is a little awkward for her and I help with the button and pushing it back down afterwards. I think she needs practice carrying it. For a child any younger I would expect the size and handling to be too much.

Elaine Hanson

Saying I'm pleased hardly covers it.

Saying I'm pleased hardly covers it. The green with the black underneath is really striking. It feels far more expensive than it was. Excellent finish, excellent construction. The only problem (nearly took a star off) is all the looking and comments it gets. People wanted to stop and talk about my umbrella the other day and I just wanted to get where I was going. A lovely product at a very fair price.

Sheryl Pugh

Very happy with how practical this is.

Very happy with how practical this is. It packs into my backpack's side pocket and the green looks great. Open, there's enough room for two of us if we keep close. The button is handy for opening and drawing the canopy together, and pressing the shaft down afterwards hasn't been a struggle. No pinched fingers so far either. It's kept the rain off well, including a couple of heavier showers, and the frame feels reassuringly firm. Just keep a good grip when a gust catches it - you still feel the pull even when the umbrella itself seems perfectly happy.

Kelsey Oconnor

A good choice for them.

Purchased for my Grandson and it has worked out nicely. My daughter can hold it over them both and they stay dry. The umbrella seems well put together, the pink looks just as nice as in the picture, and opening it is straightforward. It fits in a backpack once folded, so they can take it along without much trouble. A good choice for them.

Marcia Mckenzie

Anyway, congratulations on making a useful compact umbrella.

At last, an umbrella that my three sisters can apparently operate without applying for a special permit. They've all admired *my* umbrella for ages, but naturally umbrellas are terribly complicated things for ladies. The eldest has wrists worn out by knitting, so an umbrella that doesn't feel like a piece of garden furniture is rather welcome. The middle one would never be seen carrying anything remotely masculine; plain black, it seems, has passed her inspection. And the youngest...well, a button to open the canopy is about the level of engineering she is prepared to tolerate. There is still a manual push to shorten the shaft, so civilisation hasn't entirely collapsed. Anyway, congratulations on making a useful compact umbrella. Who knew the women-folk could manage rain without an entire separate invention.

Tamara Lawrence

Up to now this has been a good little umbrella.

Up to now this has been a good little umbrella. It opens promptly and the canopy draws in neatly with the same button. It feels more substantial in a breeze than its compact size suggests. My one small gripe is that I need to watch where my thumb rests, as the button is quite easy to press without meaning to.

Taylor Welch

Watch where you hold it when closing, though.

Replaced the umbrella I'd kept for 12 years after leaving it in my 15-year-old car at trade-in. Really like being able to open it and close the canopy with just a button. Watch where you hold it when closing, though. It snaps shut quickly, and holding it near your body can give you a splash from all the water sitting on the fabric!

Lindsey Harrison

Nothing terrible, just worth knowing.

Pretty decent umbrella and it did well in the mildly windy rain we've had in Chicago. The fabric doesn't feel quite as substantial as I'd hoped, and the shaft still needs pushing down by hand after the button folds the canopy. Nothing terrible, just worth knowing. Overall a fair deal for something that's kept me dry without turning inside out.

Katie Buckley

Every day I go for a walk, rain or not.

Every day I go for a walk, rain or not. Rain is what I have to plan around most where I live, since one hand is then occupied with an umbrella. With this one, opening is just press the button and it is ready. I can keep a comfortable hold of it when there is wind along with the rain. For what I paid, it was a good choice. I would recommend it.

Philip George

Would certainly recommend it.

Understated and smart looking, which is just what I wanted. The canopy springs out briskly and folds with another press. I spent ages browsing because folding umbrellas always make me worry about them turning inside out. This one has a reassuring feel in the hand, without being cumbersome. I can fold it quickly at a doorway if the weather gets too much. Would certainly recommend it.

Stacy Oconnor

My old folding umbrella had become more trouble than it was worth,…

My old folding umbrella had become more trouble than it was worth, so I replaced it with this one. This feels better put together and has been dependable in the rainy weather I've used it in. I especially like being able to open it with one press instead of fumbling around. The button has a good positive feel to it, very convenient when you're heading out. If I ever wear this one out, I'd be happy to get another of the same.

Autumn Friedman

lovely umbrella!

lovely umbrella! just the right amount of cover for me on my own. it has a little more weight than some i've carried, but the frame feels reassuringly solid. one press and it springs fully open, which is so convenient when the rain starts. this is the one i reach for now.

Reginald Silva

Good coverage once opened, and the fabric has a nice feel.

Good coverage once opened, and the fabric has a nice feel. There was a slight new smell around the handle at first, which I wasn't keen on. I would still hold it firmly in gusty weather, but for regular rain it has been useful and the overall construction feels decent.

Gerald Blackwell

Just an umbrella doing what it was supposed to do.

I bought the pink umbrella and have taken it out a handful of times, mostly for short walks in the rain. On the first few outings, when the weather was fairly light, it was perfectly adequate. Open it, walk where I needed to go, put it away. Nothing particularly complicated about that. My only reservation was the amount of space underneath. I prefer to have a little room to spare, especially with my gym bag, rather than feel as though I am arranging myself around the umbrella. The more noticeable test was getting out of the car with a couple of blocks still to walk and heavier rain coming down. I was watching the puddles, holding the bag, and getting increasingly annoyed at the IDEA of having to think about where everything went. Apparently I expect a compact umbrella to provide the personal space of a much larger one. Very reasonable of me. Once I brought the bag closer to my side and settled on a comfortable hold, that little space issue stopped bothering me. The canopy kept the rain off me, and the rest of the walk was uneventful. No disaster, no grand battle against the elements. Just an umbrella doing what it was supposed to do. I am still giving it one star because I do not enjoy that snug, travel-sized feeling. Probably harsh, considering the simple adjustment sorted it out. The pink is pleasant, the button worked, and the umbrella itself was satisfactory. I just wanted more room around me. My preference, not some terrible failure of the thing.

Sandra Gibson

For our wet Pacific NW weather this makes sense.

For our wet Pacific NW weather this makes sense. My son can tuck it in the outer pocket of his school bag for the walk to the bus stop, then leave it alone until needed. It isn't the tiniest folded umbrella, but it fits where we wanted it. The canopy comes up promptly with the button and it's been holding up well to his everyday use. Worth having.

Sean Mccarty

I'm impressed with how steady this umbrella feels in a breeze.

I'm impressed with how steady this umbrella feels in a breeze. Opened up, it covers me well without feeling like I'm carrying something enormous. For me that's a good balance, as I dont want to keep bumping other people with the edge. Two could shelter under it at a pinch, though I think of it as a comfortable size for one.

Justin Hughes

The simple look really appeals to me!

The simple look really appeals to me! People have commented on it, though I wouldn't call the construction anything extraordinary. It's done a decent job for about two years with rain here for roughly three months of the year, on and off rather than every day. The canopy size suits me nicely. A little more length on the handle would make it more comfortable, but I'm still pleased with it overall.

Francis Frank

This one has, and I like using it.

There's plenty of big talk around umbrellas, but what matters to me is whether one behaves in normal rain. This one has, and I like using it. If the weather gets bad enough that you can barely walk, I would rather get indoors than prove a point with an umbrella. Yes I would recommend it, I just don't put much faith in dramatic demonstrations. Holding something in a staged gust isn't quite the same as carrying your bag and trying to get along a wet pavement. isn't that the everyday test most of us actually need it to pass?

Alex Cardenas

We are both delighted with it

My second umbrella of this sort, and this one was chosen especially for my best friend in New Orleans. The cream white has such a lovely, elegant look and she was absolutely delighted when she opened it. With so many rainy days there, she keeps it nearby for those everyday trips out. It is wonderful finding a present that makes someone smile and is genuinely useful as well. We are both delighted with it

Christie Chandler

It's reassuring to hold and the opening button is convenient.

My girlfriend had admired this style of umbrella, so I ordered one for her and she loves it. The fabric has a good strong feel, and the frame seems to have some give rather than feeling brittle. It's reassuring to hold and the opening button is convenient. The only thing keeping me from five stars is that it won't fit in her purse when folded. It's compact, but not purse sized for her, so she carries it separately.

Gregory Butler

Now I'm actually hoping for some rain.

I am guilty of hanging onto an ugly a$$ umbrella forever, as long as it still works, then demoting it to the emergency stash in the car. This time I wanted something nicer looking with button opening AND canopy closing, and came across this one while looking online. (Having both button functions rather spoils you for anything else). It arrived yesterday, so rain hasn't tested it yet, but its weight and the easy button action give me a good feeling about the quality. My first automatic umbrella actually cost more than this. At about 41 inches across, it gives more coverage than my other folding ones, and I think it looks beautiful. It's a little bulkier than those tiny umbrellas you can lose in a bag, though it's shorter folded than a few I own. You get a lot more room under it. For the price I'm very happy with what I see so far. Think I'm finally done carrying ugly umbrellas just because they haven't fallen apart. Now I'm actually hoping for some rain. Perhaps a visit to London would help.

Gavin Perez

A little weightier than ideal to carry all day, otherwise very useful.

Whether the wind in Chicago comes from the lake or all the talking, I still need an umbrella I can hold comfortably. This has coped with the usual breezes and gives my shoulder bags some cover as well. A little weightier than ideal to carry all day, otherwise very useful.

Tanner Sanders

I've lost umbrellas before and this is the sort I'd happily buy again.

At 5' 10" I like a bit more cover than the tiny folding umbrellas I've used before. This one gives me a decent amount without being a huge thing to carry around. The push button opening is handy and it feels solid in the sort of breezy rain I walk through. There's a bit more weight in it, which seems fair for the size and construction. I've lost umbrellas before and this is the sort I'd happily buy again.

Christine Daugherty

Still one of her favorites!

My granddaughter was delighted to get this for her birthday and wanted it open right away. Her first outing with it was playing in the swimming pool, of all places. It's since been on planes, in cars and out in plenty of rain, and it's holding up nicely. Still one of her favorites!

Jacob Mccullough

The gray was also a good choice for me.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect for size and quality when I ordered this. Taking it out and opening it put most of those doubts to rest. The frame feels substantial and the oval grip sits nicely in my hand. I measured roughly 105cm across when open and about 40cm folded, so it is portable without pretending to be a tiny pocket umbrella. I'm tall and there is still enough coverage for me, although I wouldn't call it a family size. It weighs around 390g; you know you're carrying it, but I don't find it excessive. Automatic opening was important to me because dealing with a car door and bags in the rain leaves very little patience for wrestling an umbrella open. One press and it opens promptly. Another press draws the canopy shut, but the sliding shaft still needs pushing in manually before it is ready again. That seems straightforward once you understand what the button does. The gray was also a good choice for me. I wanted something fairly restrained for business use rather than a big, attention getting design. So far it suits that purpose very well.

A sturdy feel matters here in New England.

Seeing a woman with a loop-handled umbrella in the rain made me want something similar, and I'm glad I got this. It looks good but is useful too, not just something pretty to carry. A sturdy feel matters here in New England. Now I'm waiting for another rainy day to take it out properly. Worth remembering that although it folds up, it isn't a tiny, featherlight umbrella. There is a bit of weight to it, which I don't mind.

Brooke Eaton

It feels solid rather than flimsy.

There's more cover here than I expected from something that folds up - a nice surprise, though it does need a little room on a crowded pavement. It feels solid rather than flimsy. I walk to work in NYC and have carried it through the spring rain for around three months now - keeping it pointed into the wind makes a difference. It turned inside out during one particularly wet, gusty spell - I eased it back and it was fine afterwards. My coworkers thought I'd been silly spending more on an umbrella - apparently, as the newcomer, I hadn't learnt how quickly umbrellas give up here. They've gone rather quiet about that now. Particularly when we're waiting outside for lunch and they're edging over under mine. A good umbrella overall - just bigger opened out than I'd pictured.

Gerald Carr

The button makes it so easy to put up and it keeps me dry.

An umbrella advert online got me interested and I couldn't be more happier with this one! Nice to have on my walks after dark when it's raining. The button makes it so easy to put up and it keeps me dry. I'd happily suggest it to anyone who just needs a good everyday umbrella.

Anne Cortez

Lovely -- just lovely.

My granddaughter could hardly wait to open her parcel. Finding a green umbrella inside made her even happier! At nine she wants things that look grown up, not babyish, and this certainly passed her inspection. The size suits her and she likes being able to open it with the button. Thank you for something so simple that made her smile. Lovely -- just lovely. A BIG HIT!

Glenn Morrow

Fine once its done, just not the easiest bit for me.

Good - Gives good cover, feels strong, easy button to open it, not flimsyBad- To pack it away the canopy closes with the button but the pole needs pushing down by hand. That part takes some strenght, thought it would do the whole thing automatic. Fine once its done, just not the easiest bit for me.

Haven makes a GREAT umbrella!

Haven makes a GREAT umbrella! It's sturdy, has worn well, and hasn't flipped on me in the wind. The oval loop is my favorite bit. Much easier for me to keep hold of than a straight handle, and I can carry it by the loop once the rain stops when my hands are busy. Definitely recommend this one!!!

Pamela Meadows

I am really happy with this umbrella and it has the look I wanted.

I am really happy with this umbrella and it has the look I wanted. The design feels different and that is something special to me and for anyone who likes an umbrella that doesn't look like everybody else's I would recommend this one. Thank you for something lovely that I'm proud to carry.

Madeline Hansen

Suits me fine.

Suits me fine. Might suit you...unless you're after something enormous...in which case keep looking. Apparently I need a few more words before I can post this. Not sure what else there is to add. It's nice to get through a breezy wet day without having to FIGHT the umbrella!

Willie Gill

Good Umbrella..

Good Umbrella..I used mine in the rainy season while in Asia and it kept me dry. Good size without feeling too heavy to carry around. For usual rainy weather I would say buy it, for places with rain blowing everywhere you still need more protection. I like it a lot. my wife started using it also, then lost it last month. So another one will be needed ! Would recommend.

Not a toy little umbrella.

This was my son's Christmas umbrella and he couldn't wait for a wet day to take it outside. The blue looks cheerful and it seems more solid than I expected. Not a toy little umbrella. It's slightly bulky for him to hold for long, but he is delighted with it and it has done its job.

2) open it when the rain starts.

I wasn't planning to write a long account of an umbrella, but there are two things here that I appreciate: the everyday use my wife has had from it, and a straightforward answer when I had a question. Neither is terribly exciting. Both matter to me. About four and a half years ago I chose the Cream White umbrella for her. We live in the Pacific Northwest, where finding an opportunity to use an umbrella is not generally a problem. It has certainly spent more time outside than it would have if I had kept it for myself. Her testing procedure, for anyone interested, has been approximately this: 1) take it along. 2) open it when the rain starts. 3) stay underneath it. 4) close it afterwards. 5) leave it out to dry. 6) do the whole thing again. No spectacular demonstrations of strength, no finding out what else an umbrella might be used to hit. Just normal use, which is what I wanted it for in the first place. Last week I was handling it myself and wanted to understand exactly what the automatic closing involved. Opening it with the button was obvious enough. Closing needed a little more explanation, at least for me, because I wasn't sure which part of the movement the button was supposed to do. I wrote to ask, and the answer made it clear: pressing the button closes the canopy, but you shorten the telescoping shaft yourself afterwards. That is the normal sequence. Once I understood that distinction, there wasn't anything mysterious about it. I tried it again and could see exactly what was meant. What impressed me was getting a useful explanation to an ordinary question. Not an elaborate speech about the product, and not an assumption that everybody already knows how these mechanisms work. Just the information I needed. I realize this is a much smaller matter than sorting out some major problem, but I still give credit for it. Sometimes a simple answer is all a customer is looking for. As for the umbrella itself, my wife's experience carries more weight with me than my few practice openings. She has continued using it, it covers her properly in the rain, and the folded size makes it practical to take along. The Cream White was her preference and she still likes it. I wouldn't describe it as something that disappears in your hand, but neither has carrying it been a complaint. I'm fairly practical about purchases like this. An umbrella doesn't need to put on a performance for me. It needs to be there when needed, work in an understandable way, and be something its owner will actually bother taking out. This one has met those expectations. In fact, after seeing the use hers has had, I decided to have one of my own. There is a limit to how useful my wife's umbrella is to me when she quite reasonably has it with her. So that is my rather ordinary umbrella story. Good everyday service from the umbrella, helpful clarification when I asked, and no reason to wish I had chosen differently.

A good folding umbrella, fairly light and not enormous.

A good folding umbrella, fairly light and not enormous. Closed it is about 40cm from end to end, which is still a fair amount of umbrella to squeeze into a purse. Press the button and it opens out to a useful size for one person. The oval loop handle feels secure in my hand, and I like the flexibility in the ribs rather than everything feeling completely rigid. It folds up neatly to go back into its sleeve. It's quite a plain looking umbrella, in a good way, and to me it has more of a men's style. The gray suits that look. As a purse umbrella I think it is a little long, but it also isn't a big full-length umbrella that can shelter all of you when rain is blowing about. That's the trade off with this size. For a man carrying a messenger bag it seems a sensible fit, either tucked inside or carried along with it, without looking too fussy. My man has this one now and is happy with it. I like seeing him use it too

Lance Kerr

A lovely present!

A thank you present for the neighbor who helped me during an emergency. She likes black, and here in central Florida an umbrella gets plenty of use with the sudden rain. This one looks so SMART! Far nicer than the price suggests. She is delighted with it. The button closes the canopy nicely and there is good cover overhead. A lovely present!

Marvin Ponce

Glad to have a nice umbrella again!

I had a favourite umbrella some years back and was quite lost when I lost it, about two years ago now. Came across this one and was delighted to find something I liked as much. I decided to have a different colour this time and chose pink. It arrived in good shape, no marks or damage, and everything works just fine. It's lovely when opened out and makes those dull rainy days seem a bit brighter. Glad to have a nice umbrella again!

Carrie Sawyer

Overall - happy to recommend it.

In Texas we get rain that seems to come sideways, so the angle you hold an umbrella at matters almost as much as its size. I wanted decent cover without carrying a long umbrella around after the rain stopped. This one has enough room underneath and feels solid when I tilt it toward the rain. The button opening is convenient, particularly when I'm heading out with other things in my hands. The ribs feel flexible, and the frame doesn't seem flimsy. Folded up, it is manageable enough that the family actually takes it along. Rain stays off my head and shoulders without much fuss, which is what I need it to do.Overall - happy to recommend it.

Tami Shea

nice cover for soccer games.

nice cover for soccer games. My daughter plays in weather I wouldn't choose to stand outside in, so my husband, son and I each take one into the stands. Plenty of cover for each of us while we're rooting her on, and easy to bring along afterwards. I'm glad to have something that makes those wet games more bearable.WOULDN'T BE WITHOUT IT

Martha Gallagher

Felt cooler sitting under it too.

Well - I only needed shade for an outdoor graduation and wasn't sure I wanted to spend much on an umbrella. So glad I picked the pink! Far prettier than all the dark ones I saw around me. Pink on top with that black underneath, a nice contrast without needing any fancy bits. Felt cooler sitting under it too. Just loooove the colour! Would happily take this one out again!!
